Hey, I know it's a Jewish tradition to name kids after a deceased loved one to honor them, but in your opinion would a trans person naming themself after the loved one have the same effect? Not asking you to speak for all Jewish people of course, but I'm not Jewish myself and I'd love to hear your opinion on the dimension it adds to the headanon that Peter Parker is trans and picked Benjamin as a middle name for Uncle Ben

so I'd like to clarify that the a. this tradition is pretty much exclusively ashkenazi (which I am my middle name was chosen to honor three different relatives) b. it's not that it isn't meant to honor our family members, it's just that also the reason we only name our children after dead people is it was believed that if you named your child after a living person when it was the older person's time to die the angel of death might get confused and take the kid instead (which is why when my older brother was named yoseph my uncle joe asked "do you want me dead??" which is very funny but he was actually named after a different relative ofc)

anyway I don't know how I feel about peter naming himself after uncle ben so let's figure it out together lmao. peter isn't a very jewish name so it's nice for him to also have a typical jewish middle name (I feel like most jew know a ben, benjamin, binyamin, benny, etc). but also if you're going to hc peter as a trans man, he'd probably be trans already by the time ben dies, right? like it's a whole other tragedy if peter named himself after ben and then ben died like, holy shit the jewish guilt he'd get from that. did he kill his uncle by trying to honor him? or possibly he could choose that middle name after uncle ben dies, choosing to carry him with him everywhere he goes...

you know what I def like this idea. like it works for angst either way and is a really sweet character choice. so yeah this jew approves

Ok for the people who have read the spidernoir comics specifically the first ones(and it’s been awhile so correct me if I’m wrong) but did anyone else think Felicia and Peter had a weird relationship?

Don’t get me wrong across the board/universes they have a very complex and complicated relationship and I love that for them! But let’s focus on the 90214 earth or noir universe. So we meet Peter right, exact age I don’t think is specified but it’s largely implied high school age. Then we meet Felicia, again age not specified but she’s portrayed as a lounge singer past her prime and is running the Black Cat speakeasy. So we know she’s been around a bit. But then we find out she’s Ben Urich’s ex or ‘old flame’. Which makes the Peter Felicia relationship weird because it could be argued that Urich becomes a type of father figure after Ben Parker’s passing. To clarify sleeping with your new(also newly dead at that point)father figure’s ex girlfriend IS FUCKING WEIRD. Now next, Urich, again no age, is at least 40s if not 50s or older, and I’m leaning older because it’s implied he’s been working with Jonah for a long ass time and they are equals in terms of experience. Jonah is usually portrayed in his 50s-60s. So how old exactly is Felicia to be Urichs longtime on again off again girlfriend? To add to this Felicia seems very well established with a lot of experience in the underground and crime scene.

Now let’s circle back: when Peter meets Felicia he is very much a teenager and implied to be under 18. Felicia is his somewhat father figure/bosses ex girlfriend, who meets Peter through her ex boyfriend, and then sleeps with Peter pretty soon after her ex dies. Felicia is implied to at least be in her 30s if not older following context clues.

Again we have no real timeline for anything and no confirmed ages so its definitely up to interpretation. There are a lot of plot holes in the spidernoir comics in general but this is one that has always bugged me, especially since a lot of people really like the noir spideycat ship. And they do have a couple of sweet moments throughout the noir comics and I do love them in other universes but I can’t get over the ick in this one.

Flower symbolism time baby!!

Gwen

Purple Hyacinth and White Orchids. The Hyacinths represent her dark times. Her grief and stress. The Orchids represent her maturity and how she handle situations. Like when she made up with her dad.

Noir

Black Eyed Susan. In a world full of crime and darkness, Noir is a detective and gets stuff done. He’s powerful and has a strong sense of justice. He protects people and is motivate to solve any case. funny too. And has cool weapons.

Peni

White Cyclamen flower! It means purity, love, and empathy. She funny and smart. And with Sp//DR she does amazing things like fighting. Even with a rough past, it doesn’t stop her from being so loving and brave too.

Peter B.

Lotus and Anemone flowers. With his depressing background it was hard for him to be motivated. But once he meet Miles he got the strength to be a mentor and a cool father. He’s funny and have lots of tips and advice. The Lotus represents enlightenment and purity. while the Anemone means new beginnings.

Pavitr

Bird of Paradise. Pav is full of joy and freedom. With a go-with-the-flow attitude. Hes kind and caring.

Hobie

Amaryllis flower. It means pride and strength. He’s resilient and always look for others and for his friends. He challenge authority and make sure everyone is safe and not put down.

Margo

Zinnia flower. She’s a good friend, smart, funny, and fashionable.

Jessica

Tiger Lily. She’s prideful, strong, and powerful. She take things head on and get the job done. A cool mom too.

Ben

a Gladiolus flower. He’s strong, prideful, and have moral integrity. He’s also kind and helpful.

LYLA

LYLA remind me of Daisies. She’s fun and playful. Daisies represent cheerfulness and new beginnings.

Miguel

Butterfly Weed. the flower mean of having to let go of your loved ones, to let go of grief. He’s also like a Wolfsbane flower, cautious and a bit misanthrope.

Earth 42 Miles

42 Miles from a different universe. He’s sad and hurting. He’s a Dandelion, a person full of growth and hope. But also like a Red Poppy; he want a peaceful future and is are very consoled.

Miles

A sunflower! He’s cheerful, determined, and is optimistic.

It's so funny to me that comics used to be like "everyone comes back to life but Bucky Barnes, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben" and now we've got Bucky and Jason running around, initially back as villains doing various canon things in their respective universes

How long is it gonna take before Marvel says "screw it" and brings Uncle Ben back as a Spider-Man villain who eventually reconciles with Peter
