The Spirit of The LORD is Life and Power
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light."
"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being."
(Genesis 1:1-3; Genesis 2:7; See Chapters 1 and 2 in their entirety for the creation story, and Ezekiel 37:1-14 about the valley of dry bones.)
"You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth." (Psalm 104:30)
"There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD." (Isaiah 11:1-2)

Love is a verb!
Love is more than a verb.
“Love is a verb”, the bumper sticker on the car that sped past me said. That is true. Love is not just a noun, an abstract feeling that we hold, but love means action. But as the car vanished from my sight, the bumper sticker lingered on in my thoughts for a while. One part of me agreed that love is more than a feeling; but is love only a verb—the act of loving? The bumper sticker is lying or…

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
— Matthew‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬ The artist behind this was a sweet little boy I had the opportunity to do life with. A year ago, he left this world which caused a lot of sadness for everyone, including me. But this verse helps me think of all the good things I got to learn through this little guy. Although he did not speak many words, his love for his favorite people was evident through his actions. Although people saw a disability, he showed many that he was able to do all that he set his heart to (like eating as many sour patches any time I turned away for a few seconds). This tiny human faced many barriers, but it was through God’s grace that we got to witness him do things many people thought he couldn’t do. I’ll forever miss our many art sessions together and fighting for the chalk every time he started licking it. Although it would get overwhelming, working with him was truly the best. Until we meet again, I’ll forever be grateful for this little one.

Jesus said, "It is finished." John 19:30
When Jesus lifted up His voice and said, " It is finished," He did not mean His life was ebbing away or God's plan had been foiled. Though death was near, Jesus realized the last obstacle had been hurdled and the last enemy destroyed. He had successfully and triumphantly completed the task of redemption. With the words, "It is finished," He announced that Heaven's door was open. Kingdoms and empires come and go, but the cross and all it stands for will always remain towering over the wrecks of time!

Dear Lord, help me to not be afraid. Make me strong against worry and fear and bring peace. Lord, I don't want to be a worrier, I want to be a warrior for you. Thank you for fighting for me when I struggle to do it myself. I pray this all in Jesus' powerful name. Amen!

God, I love You and want to keep You first in my life. Show me how to better prioritize You and not take You for granted. Thank You for being with me and giving me strength. Free my heart from selfish motives as I choose to focus on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🏻

Jesus needed accommodations too
Again, Jesus began to teach beside the lake. Such a massive crowd gathered that he climbed into a boat there on the lake. He sat in the boat while the whole crowd was nearby on the shore. - Mark 4:1
Tumblr media
The Gospels — particularly Mark — frequently show Jesus to be sensitive to touch.
As an Autistic person for whom physical contact can be quite literally painful, I am encouraged by how, when crowds press in — teeming with reaching hands, loud with pleas for healing — Jesus doesn’t give in to the pressure to sacrifice his own needs for theirs; he finds ways to honor both.
At extreme moments, that looks like leaving the crowd behind entirely (e.g. Matthew 14:13). More often, Jesus prioritizes the people’s needs all day, then tends to himself in night’s stillness (e.g. Mark 1:35).
Other times, like here, he finds creative ways to serve the crowds and himself at the same time!
With the boat as an accommodation, the shoreline as a boundary, Jesus can teach all day without being exhausted — and even has energy left over for deeper conversation with his closest friends.
How can the knowledge that, in Jesus, God experienced the need for boundaries and accommodations empower you to honor your own unique needs? What creative solutions can you think up to balance your needs and communal ones?

It be like that 🤧
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? —Matthew‬ ‭6:25‬ ‭NIV‬‬
I can now identify when I’m stressed which is great however I still struggle to let myself detach from it. I have been stressed since resuming work after covid but on Friday, I was completely stressed. I was SO stressed but I ignored it and continued working and working. Right when it was time to leave work, my mind was able to sense my sore shoulders and heavy/tired eyes. I felt like I ran a marathon even though I was at my desk for most of that day. And when I sat in my car, I became overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed not because I had overworked myself beyond what I could handle but overwhelmed by the fact that I allowed myself to do this to myself. Work has definitely been a struggle lately and I’ve been so socially MIA from my friends (😭) however I keep telling myself that if I over prepare myself, the next day will be better. I’ve been finding myself thinking of ways I can make things work rather than going to Jesus and simply relying on his strength to lead the way. The other day my boss tells me, “Don’t worry about the things you have no control over” and inside I was like “pshhhhhh yah okayyy 🙄” but as I had the time to soak that in, the truth in that statement solidified in me. And so, this verse reminds me that the life we live should have little room to worry. Even if it means I have to take a step back from my job and just breathe a bit so that this worry, stress and anger won’t have room to fill in me. Recently, I’ve been really trying my best to shift my habits when I am stressed or when I feel defeated. And doing so has been such an internal battle (but I did manage to force myself to schedule a lunch break for each day next week 🎉). If you have read through this, please pray for ya girl in this moment or when you are free to do so. That would mean a lot 🥲

“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:39
We all have moments when we feel overwhelmed by our failures and our mistakes. We feel so far away from Jesus. But we fail to understand that Jesus loves us and wants us to come to Him for help. We feel forsaken, but we don't realise that  He has not left our side. Nothing can separate us from Him. All you have to do is, go to Him, confess your sins, ask Him to cleanse your heart and forgive you. He will rescue you and deliver you from anything that you are unable to, by yourself. He loves you too much to leave you in the pit. Corrie ten Boom rightly said, "There is no pit so deep, that God's love is not deeper still." Would you go to Him now?
