Another thing about the episode ¨The End¨
The whole ending is something that Bill Motz creator clarified that he had planned from the start. He said this multiple times, already from back in 2021- 2022 he talked about having a clear ending in mind. They already had most of Scratch's backstory planned and the themes established from the start.
This means that Molly and Scratch going their separated ways was something that was always more or less intended to happen. It wasn't something that was planned last minute- you can get an idea of Scratch's arc by reading the series bible about the series synopses.
The message of the series has always been about what means to be alive and Scratch's character arc represents that.
It was starting to feel like I haven't drawn anything just for fun in a while. But I also didn't wanna sit down and work on a big piece right this moment. So instead, I dug through old files and found a bunch of quick little sketches I never actualyl finished and decided to work on those. Some of these are based on sketches from over a year ago!
I have more of them, so I will probably do this again. it was fun to touch them up a bit and see that, yes, I have actually improved at least a little.
So... Scratch is the new Chairman because the past Chairman is deader than dead. But right now, I am headcanoning that the Ghost Council didn't want to go with said past Chairman's true killer, Molly, for a number of reasons:
Molly as a wraith was scary enough for them, and Chairman Molly would have given them nightmares for eternity.
Molly isn't dead, and they didn't want to risk their afterlives by offing her and dragging her to the ghost world since they suspected it would inevitably lead to them having to face her family's wrath.
A ghost world run by Molly McGee would probably be Mabel's dream bubble on steroids.
Insert fourth reason the Ghost Council didn't want to make Molly the new Chairman here.
Ok, here’s a really good question for TGAMM fans that might up the coolness level: Were you aware of Bill Motz and Bob Roth before then or did you at least watch what they worked on growing up? There’s Darkwing Duck, the Buzz Lightyear show, The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, The Penguins of Madagascar, or the LEGO Star Wars show where they got to know Dana Snyder!
I don't think I knew their names or could pick them out of a lineup, but I definitely watched a bunch of their shows when I was younger! I feel like I heard they both had work on Brandy and Mr. Whiskers too, yeah? That's probably the most obscure show I remember watching as a kid and learning they worked on that show too really blew my mind, Bill and Bob are chamelons fr 👏👏👏 such gifts to the industry
