December 26, 2023 - Short-tailed Paradigalla (Paradigalla brevicauda)
These birds-of-paradise are found in and around mountain forests and gardens in central New Guinea. They feed on fruit, as well as invertebrates, small frogs, and lizards. Breeding in most months, except for March and November, females build cup or bowl-shaped nests from moss, ferns, small climbing plants, vine tendrils, and other materials in trees. They lay a single egg, incubating it and feeding the chick alone.
