A Scarlet Tanager is a sneaky bird, despite being so bright and red. It spends its whole life in the treetops, away from our eyes.
But sometimes, especially in the spring, we can get a glimpse of this beautiful creature.

Another pigeon, but domesticated and stunning, the archangel pigeon!
The archangel pigeon (Columba livia domestica) is a breed of domesticated pigeon in the "fancy" category, and one of the ones that are actually morally okay. Their plumage is striking: Black wings with green iridescence, and brown plumage pretty much everywhere else, with signature iridescence on the crop/neck which is pink colored! (However, it may vary. This is just the most popular variant, we believe) All domesticated pigeons, and fancy breeds for that matter all come from the very not domesticated bird, the rock dove, and eventually, the domesticated pigeons from older times became feral pigeons.

BOTD: Jamaican Owl
Photo: guyincognito
"A somewhat large nocturnal inhabitant of wooded areas including gardens and parks; roosts in tree cavities or dense foliage during the day. The Barn Owl is of similar size, but it is much paler and lacks the Jamaican Owl’s prominent ear tufts. Vocalizations include a low, gruff 'wa-waaa-o' and a crescendo/decrescendo 'whoa.'"

Wings of the Wild
I love to watch these turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) fly overhead. Their huge wings and flight feather really stand out against the blue sky. They look majestic as they float on the thermals.
"If you’ve gone looking for raptors on a clear day, your heart has probably leaped at the sight of a large, soaring bird in the distance– perhaps an eagle or osprey. But if it's soaring with its wings raised in a V and making wobbly circles, it's likely a Turkey Vulture. These birds ride thermals in the sky and use their keen sense of smell to find fresh carcasses. They are a consummate scavenger, cleaning up the countryside one bite of their sharply hooked bill at a time, and never mussing a feather on their bald heads." - allaboutbirds.org
