the thing with haal-men as insects and kepradites as insectivores will probably be lost as i solidify the differences between the two countries + their politics (casting capitalist colonizers (keprad) as the natural born predators of communists (haal) is like. idk idk the metaphor might be a touch off). maybe just the upper echelons of keprad royalty as insectivores instead??
#theres a more loose idea with the different deaths (reaper entities which collect ppl who die in certain ways) all being canids that ties--#--in rlly nicely w the idea of the blood-alcohol automaton sisters being bat eared foxes (canid insectivores) which i for sure want to keep#want to have gods more involved w the world as well. mmmmaybe smth where being a god is more so an Achievable sign of great power rather--#--than a thing of holiness or birthright. dragons as thules children which wander the lands and reap the worship eagerly#read smth about how bat eared foxes will trail after hooved animals bc their excrement draws in insects. the metaphor breaks down a bit--#--here but maybe the walking cities keprad brings in for their occupation of haal are beastly hooved things#getting more and more solid on the idea of each of the four main characters having their own unique 'campaign' or w/e. still--#--set in the same map but at varying time periods and with different goals in mind. mary would be the 'main' one w his ability to recruit--#--the other three (rather than like. marie being limited to the blood-alcohol automaton and mijaal to mary)#^ or maybe mijaal would work best operating entirely alone w the ghosts of her unit trailing after her acting as her party members. okay i've talked about this in tags and stuff before but i want to really break down the dorian - ashton dynamic, because it's so interesting. there are a lot of ways in which dorian and ashton are perfectly opposed, and there are also a lot of ways that they're deeply similar, and something about it is just fascinating to me.
they're both genasi, but one is air and one is earth. one was born into wealth and privilege, while the other spent most of their childhood in an orphanage in bassuras, and yet they both have very complex feelings about their parentage and their birthright and the power that comes with it. they're both frontline fighters who started c3 with the same strength score, but ashton uses a massive hammer and chaotic, uncontrollable powers, while dorian uses bardic flourishes and precise spells. ashton was abandoned by the closest thing they had to family, while dorian was the one to leave his own family. ashton is -2 charisma covered up with brashness and projected confidence, while dorian is +3 charisma but too nervous to use it effectively half the time. they both end up being treated as a sort of leader in their parties, much to their own surprise. dorian is this inexperienced, sheltered prince seeing the world for the first time, and ashton is frequently the voice of reason in bells hells, the one who knows how the real world works ("does no one crime?", reminding them that their actions will have consequences for others, pointing out that leaving someone to die is not actually better than killing them by hand).
in exu, dorian tells lolth that he would do anything to protect his friends, even if it would hurt others, and he meant it so deeply that his alignment changed from chaotic good to chaotic neutral. he got into an argument with orym because he wanted them to keep lolth's circlet, a decision influenced by his family history with power and responsibility. and now ashton took the shard, searching for power, motivated by the longing for his parents and his birthright and it is such a juicy parallel.
it's "i would do anything for my friends" vs "we don't leave anyone behind".
the first kiss of the campaign is dorian kissing ashton's cheek after the ratanish fight as an excuse to get close enough to heal him and tell him "we need you". ashton curses quietly when he realizes dorian has to go with cyrus. "to dorian, who is leaving us for his stupid brother. what the fuck is up with that." ashton says dorian is "our bag of dicks".
they're just so interesting. they're such interesting contrasts, both symbolically and in their characters, and i really hope that when (don't say 'if' it's gotta be a 'when' i am clinging to this) dorian comes back their relationship gets explored more.

Book!Alicent: ambitious woman who wanted her son on the throne and emotionally and mentally abused a child to obtain her goals, began smear campaigns against Rhaenyra and rhaenyra's sons with absolutely 0 proof they were bastards, waved off Jace, Luke, and Joffrey's deaths as "bastard blood spilt in war" and wished rhaenyra would die in childbirth, demands lucerys' eye BEFORE Rhaenyra requests that aemond be questioned sharply about where he heard that jace, Luke, and joff were bastards
Show!Alicent: whitewashed victim-complex who had many traits that are, in actual fact, rhaenyra's. Boring. Bland. Religious fanatic.
Book!Rhaenyra: fully desires her birthright, the Iron Throne (and why shouldn't she?), delights in her feminism, never once wishes she was a boy to please her father, named heir at nine years old, adored by the smallfolk, best friends with laena velaryon, apple of her dad and uncle's eyes, is verbally abused and smeared by the greens because she has the audacity as a woman to know what she wants. Likely Jace and Luke are Laenor's with the Baratheon/Arryn looks because rhaenys has black hair and rhaenyra's grandfather was an arryn with brown hair *gasp* genetics is a thing
Show!Rhaenyra: indecisive about being heir, constantly wishes she was a boy, whitewashed and victimised and written blandly
Book!Daemon: morally grey anti-hero who loves his family and the targaryen Dynasty and does questionable things, loved by the smallfolk, adored by rhaenyra, raised a literal army to put his brother on the throne, had ample opportunity to overthrow viserys and never did, was thousands of miles away when rhea Royce died, loved laena, loved rhaenyra, loved his children, even rhaenyra's three sons, fought to the death for rhaenyra's claims
Show!Daemon: I am villain he-he
Book!Rhaenys: never held her not being named Queen against Rhaenyra, was disinherited by Jaehaerys, a bamf bitch who loved her family, openly and proudly supported rhaenyra, had black hair streaked with white
Show!Rhaenys: I shall take my anger out on an innocent party and hold onto my resentment for years and insist the succession crisis isn't my problem when my granddaughters are in danger by association because that makes sense
Book!Otto: plotted and schemed for years to have his blood on the throne and conspired with his equally conniving daughter to do so
Show!Otto: pretty much the same, yeah
Show!Aegon; drunk, sad-boy rapist chad
Book!Aegon: drunk, sad-boy rapist chad who refuses to take his sister's birthright
Show!Aemond: whitewashed victim sad-boy
Book!Aemond: cold, calculating sociopath who willingly and happily kinslayed his nephew Lucerys over an incident years in the past of his own making and went on to commit genocide in the riverlands and take Alys Rivers as his spoils of war
Show!Helaena: dragon dreamer baby girl
Book!Helaena; sorry, but she's actually pretty irrelevant but she's still a baby girl
Show!Daeron:...doesn't exist? Yet(?)
Boom!Daeron: just as sociopathic and murderous as aemond, also commits genocide by burning an entire village to the ground
Show!Laena: kind of just around???
Book!Laena: best friends with rhaenyra, also likely her lover, loved by Daemon and Rhaenyra both, did not die by ordering vhagar to burn her, actually died much more tragically, rider of Vhagar, all around bamf

Vivek Ramaswamy said he would deport the children of undocumented immigrants with their families, despite them already being U.S. citizens Friday.
“There are legally contested questions under the 14th amendment of whether the child of an illegal immigrant is indeed a child who enjoys birthright citizenship or not,” Ramaswamy said after a town hall in Iowa.
Ramaswamy is not the only GOP candidate to question U.S. citizenship rules. Former President Trump announced in late May that on his first day back in office, he would seek to end birthright citizenship by way of an executive order.
Despite the GOP candidates’ plans, a majority of Americans said the U.S. should continue to provide birthright citizenship in a poll following Trump’s announcement. Only a quarter in the poll said it should end, with 15 percent saying they were not sure.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also pledged to end birthright citizenship. In his immigration plan, DeSantis’ campaign said citizenship rules as practiced now in the U.S. are “inconsistent with the original understanding of 14th Amendment.”
“We will take action to end the idea that the children of illegal aliens are entitled to birthright citizenship if they are born in the United States,” the plan, which is titled “No Excuses,” reads.

Evelyn Preer
Tumblr media
Evelyn Preer (née Jarvis; July 26, 1896 – November 17, 1932), was an African American pioneering screen and stage actress, and jazz and blues singer in Hollywood during the late-1910s through the early 1930s. Preer was known within the Black community as "The First Lady of the Screen."
She was the first Black actress to earn celebrity and popularity. She appeared in ground-breaking films and stage productions, such as the first play by a black playwright to be produced on Broadway, and the first New York–style production with a black cast in California in 1928, in a revival of a play adapted from Somerset Maugham's Rain.
Evelyn Jarvis was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on July 26, 1896. After her father, Frank, died prematurely, she moved with her mother, Blanche, and her three other siblings to Chicago, Illinois. She completed grammar school and high school in Chicago. Her early experiences in vaudeville and "street preaching" with her mother are what jump-started her acting career. Preer married Frank Preer on January 16, 1915, in Chicago.
At the age of 23, Preer's first film role was in Oscar Micheaux's 1919 debut film The Homesteader, in which she played Orlean. Preer was promoted by Micheaux as his leading actress with a steady tour of personal appearances and a publicity campaign, she was one of the first African American women to become a star to the black community. She also acted in Micheaux's Within Our Gates (1920), in which she plays Sylvia Landry, a teacher who needs to raise money to save her school. Still from the 1919 Oscar Micheaux film Within Our Gates.
In 1920, Preer joined The Lafayette Players a theatrical stock company in Chicago that was founded in 1915 by Anita Bush, a pioneering stage and film actress known as “The Little Mother of Black Drama". Bush and her troupe toured the US to bring legitimate theatre to black audiences at a time when theaters were racially segregated by law in the South, and often by custom in the North and the interest of vaudeville was fading. The Lafayette Players brought drama to black audiences, which caused it to flourish until its end during the Great Depression.
She continued her career by starring in 19 films. Micheaux developed many of his subsequent films to showcase Preer's versatility. These included The Brute (1920), The Gunsaulus Mystery (1921), Deceit (1923), Birthright (1924), The Devil’s Disciple (1926), The Conjure Woman (1926) and The Spider's Web (1926). Preer had her talkie debut in the race musical Georgia Rose (1930). In 1931, she performed with Sylvia Sidney in the film Ladies of the Big House. Her final film performance was as Lola, a prostitute, in Josef von Sternberg's 1932 film Blonde Venus, with Cary Grant and Marlene Dietrich. Preer was lauded by both the black and white press for her ability to continually succeed in ever more challenging roles, "...her roles ran the gamut from villain to heroine an attribute that many black actresses who worked in Hollywood cinema history did not have the privilege or luxury to enjoy." Only her film by Micheaux and three shorts survive. She was known for refusing to play roles that she believed demeaned African Americans.
By the mid-1920s, Preer began garnering attention from the white press, and she began to appear in crossover films and stage parts. In 1923, she acted in the Ethiopian Art Theatre's production of The Chip Woman's Fortune by Willis Richardson. This was the first dramatic play by an African-American playwright to be produced on Broadway, and it lasted two weeks. She met her second husband, Edward Thompson, when they were both acting with the Lafayette Players in Chicago. They married February 4, 1924, in Williamson County, Tennessee. In 1926, Preer appeared on Broadway in David Belasco’s production of Lulu Belle. Preer supported and understudied Lenore Ulric in the leading role of Edward Sheldon's drama of a Harlem prostitute. She garnered acclaim in Sadie Thompson in a West Coast revival of Somerset Maugham’s play about a fallen woman.
She rejoined the Lafayette Players for that production in their first show in Los Angeles at the Lincoln Center. Under the leadership of Robert Levy, Preer and her colleagues performed in the first New York–style play featuring black players to be produced in California. That year, she also appeared in Rain, a play adapted from Maugham's short story by the same name.
Preer also sang in cabaret and musical theater where she was occasionally backed by such diverse musicians as Duke Ellington and Red Nichols early in their careers. Preer was regarded by many as the greatest actress of her time.
Developing post-childbirth complications, Preer died of pneumonia on November 17, 1932, in Los Angeles at the age of 36. Her husband continued as a popular leading man and "heavy" in numerous race films throughout the 1930s and 1940s, and died in 1960.
Their daughter Edeve Thompson converted to Catholicism as a teenager. She later entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, Indiana, where she became known as Sister Francesca Thompson, O.S.F., and became an academic, teaching at both Marian University in Indiana and Fordham University in New York City.

thoughts on the grand northern conspiracy theory?
it makes some points but i think most of it is deeply silly and relies on far too many leaps in logic and characters acting in a way they would never act all to push a “jon will be king” theory, which as i’m sure everyone knows, i am a big hater of.
The basis of the theory is that the Northern lords are purposefully playing Stannis & the Bolton/Freys against each other so they can take each other out, and free the North up for a Stark King & Northern Independence. That, on its face, I fully believe. It’s the details in the theory that I don’t fully buy into.
It’s basically canon that the Northern lords & ladies are really taking advantage of the chaotic politics & lack of a real centralized leader at the moment to make their own political moves. Some examples here include:
Arnolf & Cregan Karstark are explicitly doing this, something Alys comments on and something several other lords point out: "My uncle declared for Stannis, in hopes it might provoke the Lannisters to take poor Harry's head. Should my brother die, Karhold should pass to me, but my uncles want my birthright for their own." They don't really care about Stannis, they want Harry dead so they can have Karhold.
Alysane Mormont is potentially working off orders from her mother, when she says here, "Five, we were. All girls. Lyanna is back on Bear Island. Lyra and Jory are with our mother. Dacey was murdered." Even though as far as we know before that, all of Maege's girls were at Bear Island (except Dacey, who was with Maege in Robb's campaign).
There's the Umbers refusing to fight each other while picking two different sides, and this theory here that it was likely a plan between Mors and Hother to keep the Greatjon alive.
The Manderly Of It All re: very obviously using his granddaughter's anger as a cover for his own brutal plans for revenge and a Stark restoration.
The North is all clearly playing the game & attempting to oust the Boltons & Freys from power. I also don’t think the grumbling for Northern Independence would have died down since Robb died - if anything, after their King is brutally, viciously murdered, his mother’s corpse made a mockery of, his little Queen now a prisoner, and his sisters married off to enemies & humiliated, I imagine the calls for Northern Independence have gotten louder. This is a people that has suffered not just death and violence, but a lot of humiliation on top of that, and all of that is the perfect recipe for some sort of nationalist call for independence.
But the theory has. Some points that I just cannot co-sign because they make absolutely zero sense to me.
The idea that the only thing stopping Jon from being king is Jeyne being pregnant or the witnesses of Robb’s will being dead is just silly. He isn’t Ned Stark’s son, he is Lyanna’s! That puts Robb’s entire will in question, and you can bet your ass that there will be some grumbling or discussion about whether Winterfell should bypass Ned‘a line despite him having TWO true born sons and TWO true born daughters still alive, or whether it goes to Lyanna and therefore to Jon. The succession question is just NOT as simple as the meta makes it out to be because it completely ignores that Jon is, I cannot stress this enough, NOT actually Ned Stark’s son.
The meta is right that it’s likely Maege & Gallbart got a message to Howland because Theon notes that there’s been attacks by craggoman. But. Howland is one of - possible thee only - person left alive that knows Jon is Lyanna’s son. There is just no way he doesn’t have a strong opinion on whether Jon should inherit winterfell without knowing the truth.
Irrelevant but it’s really mean to Jeyne Westerling. Whatever role she may have - even if it’s to die in the prologue of TWOW - her life and her death are important regardless of whether she’s pregnant! She is the widow of a King, and if she dies by LSH’s hand, it’s going to be a huge point in showing us the violence in the Riverlands. Maybe the continued breakdown in the Riverlands, Lady Stoneheart’s anger, and Jeyne’s defiance of her family is not relevant to the King Jon pushers, but it IS thematically relevant to the plot thank you very fucking much. THE GIRL IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE BOY.
More relevant to this point is there’s just no way in fuck that Lady Stoneheart is trying to crown Jon. “oh she has bigger problems” she is going to crown one of her children if she crowns anyone, likely Arya, not her husband’s bastard who she fucking hated & asked to be banished to a glorified penal colony. Look at Brynden’s comments about Jon:
The Blackfish narrowed his eyes. "Did your father arrange for that as well? Catelyn never trusted the boy, as I recall, no more than she ever trusted Theon Greyjoy. It would seem she was right about them both.
Cat hates that kid so much she wrote letters to her uncle talking shit about him but we are supposed to believe this is proof she wants to crown him? When she's so far gone she's willing to kill Podrick and Brienne off a perceived slight against her? When she's heard several rumors that her daughters may still be alive and well? No. Don't buy it even a little.
Also, Brynden is flying Robb’s banner bc Robb was his family, because he loved Catelyn, and because what else is he supposed to do when he’s in the middle of a siege?? This point is silly and nonsensical.
Harwin as the Hooded Man - i mean. there’s nothing for or against this really, but also the Theon Durden theory aka Theon is the hooded man and doesn’t realize bc he’s having a psychotic episode, is much more believable to me & much more in line with everything that’s happening in theon’s chapter.
So like. Yes, the basic premise of “the northern lords are desperately looking for a stark, any stark, to make king/queen in the north, bc they are tired of All This Bullshit” is something i completely agree with. I do think it’s likely Maege has been in contact with her daughters, & that she and Gallbart made contact with Howland, who is about to enter the scene in a big way. But all that ish about LSH, the BWB, and Blackfish? Absolutely not. LSH is about Arya’s story (and Brienne & Jaime’s), not Jon. Stoneheart doesn’t care about the politics in Westeros; she cares that she followed all the rules and it got her family killed, so now she will break every rule there is to get revenge for her slaughtered children. she is Alyssa Arryn except she has the power to cause a lot of suffering before her tears drown her. she is not wasting her second life crowning jon snow!

today is another strike for palestine day, so here’s your reminder that steven spielberg is an extremely prolific zionist
in 2006, spielberg donated ONE MILLION DOLLARS to israeli charities in response to israel’s conflict with lebanese group hezbollah. this war killed, at minimum, hundreds of lebanese (at least 30% being YOUNG CHILDREN) and displaced NEARLY ONE MILLION. israel deployed its usual tactic of illegal chemical white phosphorus and indiscriminate civilian bombing campaigns
in 2022 ALONE, his organization “righteous person foundation” donated 100k to the ADL which considers “free palestine” to be hate speech, 70k to the jerusalem foundation which builds illegal settlements in the unceded West Bank (remember sheikh jarrah? this is who’s stealing those homes), as well as multiple hundred thousands to birthright/tourism trips through the occupied west bank.
steven spielberg has literally helped kick palestinains out of their homes. he is perhaps one of the most outrageous examples of how hollywood not only normalizes but rewards philanthropy that actively hurts native palestinians

your post reminded me how people on here tried to gotcha on the idea that ukrainians are inherently racist because of the issue with black ukrainian people fleeing and they tried to pin it on ukraine itself when it was literally just poland who didn't want to take them
Mhm, from what I remember, the problem came from the fact that during the first days the evacuation trains were prioritising women, children, elderly and disabled over men. + Not all foreign students are fluent in ukrainian, and not all ukrainian railroad workers are fluent in english. This created a miscommunication issue, where the railroad management failed to explain the students what to do and where to go.
If you've been here, you know what kind of chaos happened during those time period. The tension was fucking high. Everyone was in the survival mode. The infrastructure wasn't prepared to a full-scale war. A lot of mistakes happened on all levels of management.
The people who were in panic and jumping to the worse conclusions (based on their lifelong experience of racism) were given the platform by russian propaganda machine; and those who understood the language a bit better and were explained the priority of saving women and children first, didn't. If you have time and inspiration to bother with translation, here is an artice from March 2022 that includes quotes from both sides of the story.
We need to admit that this event was bad. A lot of people were hurt. But it wasn't a specific campaign targeted at black people. Yet russian propagandists and their lap dogs turned it into an anti-ukrainian smear campaign.
additional rant below
It's sad how easily westerners are ready to eat up anti-ukrainian propaganda, even when it comes from people who sent their mercenaries to commit war crimes in Africa. Y'all really think russia is a reliable source to learn about racism? Really? Ukraine has a black politician, we were represented by black artists in Eurovision twice - by popular vote! - and in russia, people bully brands who use black models in their advertisement into withdrowing the ad and apologising for hurting the feelings of consumers. I know this comparison sounds pathetic, especially if you're from a country with large black population, but keep in mind that we didn't partake in the transantlantic slave trade route, and yet we still do better than russia which has thrice the population we do.
People who don't speak russian don't have a clue about how racist their society is. If you know those fringe internet guys who scream about culture war and throw tantrums about black disney mermaids - this is literally the status quo of russian culture. And THESE are the people westerners have decided to trust on their word in questions of racism?? Really?
No matter how many times we disprove those "ukrainians are racist because we didn't allow black people to evacuate burr burr" claims with facts, they still come up. The rebuttals were there immediately. Yet 2 years later, I still get lectured by usamerican tweens about how all ukrainians are racist by birthright because "i googled ukraine racism and a russia today article told me it was so"

I wish I could find my post from a while back bitching about Zionists in organizing spaces cause I keep thinking about it with leftist zionists whinging about being ‘run out’ of spaces NOW.
Because time and time again how it would go down IRL is a working group would be discussing Land Back or something and a member’s zionism would come up and it sure as shit made everyone question exactly in what way that person could even support Land Back while being a zionist. Then when talks escalated they ran and called that group antisemitic and every anti-Zionist Jew in a ten mile radius had to step in and go “hey that’s not why this happened.”
It happened so much. My Jewish law group couldn’t be talked to about police brutality because they got mad when someone brought up how the IOF trained our cops. The org couldn’t be talked to about BLM because when our member orgs wanted to cut ties with the ADL they were called antisemites. The org couldn’t be talked to about Palestinian comrades cause they were fundraising for birthright trips. The org couldn’t be talked to about environmental causes because they campaigned about JNF tree-planting.
The org was overwhelmingly zionist because they ran anti-zionist Jews out. I got asked to leave when I wrote a letter of solidarity with Palestinian comrades being silenced in 2021 during the Sheikh Jarrah annexation. My support was considered a “betrayal.”
In what way is supporting our brutalized community members a betrayal? Where is your morality?
So when I see tumblr “prison abolitionists” talk about their zionism (or “I’m super not a zionist” zionism) I have to laugh because how the fuck do those things coexist for you?
“I feel bad for Palestinians but if pressure is taken off, they would turn around and do worse to Israelis.”
Mhm like how if prisons were abolished and prisoners were released then we’d have a crime wave, right?
Where the fuck is your sense of decency?
Your “acab” means nothing, your “fire to the prisons” means nothing, “we have nothing to lose but our chains” doesn’t mean a fucking thing if those cop tactics on other civilians doesn’t bother you, if the brutal apartheid regime’s legal system doesn’t bother you, if you want to keep Palestinians in their chains to “keep the peace.”
Your platitudes mean nothing for Palestinians and it becomes so clear that they mean nothing for the people in your home country.
People struggling and dying for a taste of freedom fills you with contempt? Why the fuck should I organize with you for liberation here???

Orillian Queens, Almost Queens, and Consorts of the 20th Century
Tumblr media
Queen Consort Morosina De'Cremonesi-Grimani circa 1861-1932 Born as the second daughter of the Viscount of Trieste, Lady Morosina was considered plain in looks and thought. This characterization was paid no mind to a certain prince, who overlooked her beauty to instead gaze upon the immense riches of her father. Married to a man two decades her senior, she was famously unhappy. Many considered her a prude, drab, and a woman who didn't deserve the fortune of marrying into the coveted De Cremonesi House. Queen Vittoria De'Cremonesi circa 1890-1943 The only Queen of the 20th century, Vittoria made a name for herself in all the ways that didn't matter. She spent her days living lavishly under the jewels and lights of the Jazz Age. Her parties were known far and wide. The most notorious names of the time graced her halls. Anyone of any birthright, class, talent, or profession could gain an invitation. Famously, when asked about the very topic she replied, "Let them sip champagne and dance; to a beggar, even a fortune is worth only these crumbs." This being said during a time of need. Queen Consort Georgiana Della Rovere circa 1935-1982 Everyone knew Georgiana Della Rovere was born a star, and so she made herself such. Born in the Cagliari province to a doctor and nurse, she fought to break out of the expectations of her parents. And make a name for herself. She became a model, a variety show hostess, and finally a leading star. She was an influential idol of the 50s and 60s. Georgiana had a very colorful life, she was married four times – Twice to the same man – and for the last time, she married a prince. Lady Madelaena Sforza circa 1960-2023 "The Queen who would never be," is a title she earned with her infamous divorce to then, Prince Milano De'Cremonesi. A Sforza from birth, betrothed to a prince since her sixth year, she was no stranger to the complexities of her "high society". How to act, what to say, how to treat and be treated. It came as no surprise when she walked in on her husband and her lady-in-waiting. "This is what they do, the men," everyone told her. But unlike the women in her station before her, she wouldn't stay silent. Some may agree that she may have milked the affair far too long, but none would deny reputations destroyed and the scandal that came with the campaign: A book, interviews, confessions of infidelity, and the iconic revenge dress. Queen Consort Fernanda De'Cremonesi-Adragna circa 1965-2049 Lady Fernanda Adragna was disgraced from a very young age. If you asked her the reason at 6 she'd repeat, "An Adragna is never fortunate," if you asked at 18 she'd cry, "parent's divorced, father imprisoned, embezzlement a sin," and if, years later, you ever found the chance to ask again. She might mention a prince, an affair, a baby, and a wedding. With a past like hers, no one could blame her for her reputation. Her husband loathed her, her children tolerated her, and people whispered.

Baltazar for my dnd solo campaign. He's a (winter) eladrin spore druid, and has been kind of cringefail so far, as is his birthright.
He's blind, but uses his spores to suss out his surroundings and sense people's movements :] He's also a God Damn Looming Weirdo but that's unrelated, it's just funny how he keeps failing his stealth checks because yeah, checks out, hard to stealth when you're 6'7'' and look like That.

"The war had all but ground to a halt in the blink of an eye. Lucian, the most feared and ruthless leader ever to rule the Lycan clan, had finally been killed. The Lycan horde scattered to the wind in a single evening of flame and retribution. Victory, it seemed, was in our grasp, the very birthright of the vampires. Nearly six centuries had passed since that night, yet the ancient feud proved unwilling to follow Lucian to the grave. Though Lycans were fewer in number, the war itself had become more perilous, for the moon no longer held her sway. Older, more powerful Lycans, were now able to change at will. The weapons had evolved, but our orders remained the same: Hunt them down and kill them off, one by one. A most successful campaign. Perhaps too successful. For those like me, a Death Dealer, this signaled the end of an era. Like the weapons of the previous century, we, too, would become obsolete. Pity, because I lived for it."The war had all but ground to a halt in the blink of an eye. Lucian, the most feared and ruthless leader ever to rule the Lycan clan, had finally been killed. Having a Monday!
Late start for me today - wife and I were up late talking logistics on buying a house later this year. Exciting! But I'm a little sleepy.
I'm downtown today, since it's Pizza Week in Portland and I've decided to base where I work entirely off which slice of 3 dollar hubris pizza I aim to make myself eat. I'm shooting for pizza based existential horror by maybe Thursday. Last year's Pizza Week left me nauseated by the mere concept of pizza. We'll see what happens.
Feeling good about writing today. Going to explore a bit more of Edgar's gender identity as well as set up Katy's major arc in this book, which is a silly one and I'm excited to see where it goes (She's going to DM a vintage Dungeons and Dragons campaign for a bunch of Birthrights). I don't really have a plan but it should be a fun space to play around in.
My hand still kind of hurts. I guess it's good I took a break last night. My barista just handed me my tiramasu latte and it looks very yummy. Let's try it!
Oh wow. I was write.
Would you like to write with me, my friend? If it's before like 5pm PST you can write knowing that your colleague in the Pacific Northwest (Me) is working alongside you. Maybe we can chat while we work if your brain works like that!
Whatever you do, I hope you all have a day. And then a night, followed by a tomorrow. I love you dearly.

Captain Olassa Appreciation Post
For uh....completely innocent reasons. She’s. She’s fine.

No, in all seriousness though--Olassa is the longest-running NPC in this campaign, she was one of the first characters I created who really made Suncrest feel alive to me.
(Ironically enough. She’s a paladin of the Raven Queen.)
At the end of today’s session, after acting as a rearguard to cover the party’s retreat, she sent them and their mage friend Arlette on a mission to find a way to close the breaches and cut off the invasion--something which cannot be done from within a besieged city, and if they’re going to get out of the city, it has to be done now, because by morning they’ll be cut off completely.
She gave them these orders while steadily braced and reforming a line of battle with the shattered, scrambling city guard. It was very clear that she did not intend to go with them. It was equally clear that every guard in that square is going to die.
Arlette and Nimbus both tried to convince her to live to fight another day; Andromeda, to whom she’s been a major mentor, just swallowed hard and thanked her, and promised to say a prayer for her to both her own god and to the Raven Queen.
(Andromeda, a book-dumb paladin of Pelor, has absolutely no knowledge of the long-running tension between their respective deities. She has no idea how deeply and profoundly touching--how significant--it is, what she just offered, or the fact that she burned one of her last spell slots to give Olassa Protection From Good And Evil keyed to the fae as one of their last interactions.)
Her last words were, as a quiet reassurance to Andromeda, “I am not afraid to meet my lady.”
Before that, to Nimbus, as he tried to convince her to run with them and try to regroup later:
“You are very young, Nim. Defiance in the face of hopeless odds is--is your birthright. But I am older than you, and wiser. I have oaths to uphold. I am guard-captain of Suncrest and a paladin of the Order of the Breaker of Chains, and there are things worth dying for.”
Last the party saw of her--and where we left the session--she was standing in a chokepoint, halberd levelled against the top of her shield, bracing for a charge.
