To all my black pro life women out there, I used to be you
The title sounds hella sarcastic I know, but I was raised on the same Bible, sat in the same wooden pew with the white ruffle socks on my feet and my scalp aching from the “plats” my mother pulled my hair into. I remember fanning my myself with those fans with the pictures of black religion on them, getting caught up in the music and napping during the sermons. I get that your mother taught you abortion was a sin but “you better not bring home no babies” and to save it until marriage but everybody ignored the teen mom bringing her baby to Sunday school. The black church exists as a bastion of “black respectability” as in if we act a certain way long enough- in this case, holy enough- white Christians might overlook our skin color to accept us as brothers in Christ. Pleasant idea if you ignore all the KKK members who went to church the morning after lynching people or burning crosses. Pleasant idea if you ignore the fact the Southern Baptist only exists because it split with the main Baptist church cuz it didn’t want to give up its slaves. Most people either don’t know this history or just ignore it cuz “it’s always been like this so why should we throw off the shackles of tradition and stop being Christians?” I know it’s scary forming a worldview without the input of religion but when that religion exists to keep people in mental bondage(the mental gymnastics black women go through to justify race loyalty for instance) and does nothing to make people’s lives better, then I say get rid of it.

Derek Chauvin Black Friday PRISON STABBER Revealed As FBI Informant Gang Member Operating For BLM!
black conservative perspective youtube comments
He has been proven without any doubt , not guilty. Our nation has got to find some courage to stand up to the unbelievable destruction going on.
I don’t see how anyone can be a cop after seeing what happened to this guy
Sounds like chauvin should sue BLM
As a white dude, I thought of being a police officer many times throughout my 18 year career in the military. Almost got out and persued a career in LE. 100% glad I didn't!!!
I have a hard time watching videos about him honestly. Even just seeing him on your thumbnail, in jail, looking absolutely dejected. It truly hurts my heart that this man (who no one claims is perfect) had his ENTIRE life destroyed. For what?! He wasn't given a fair trial & literally had the judge say he couldn't receive a fair trial anywhere therefore there was no reason to move it. If someone can't receive a fair trial they should not be imprisoned regardless knowing it wasn't fair. He was sacrificed by his city, state, & govt & it makes me quite sick to my stomach to think of how he must feel. How hopeless & helpless of an existence it must be to literally be seen as the most hated man in America who no one is willing to fight or stand up for. And then to have SCOTUS reject his appeal on top of everything else & to be stabbed a few days later? It's just too sad...Show less

Watch "The REAL Faces of Black Conservatism" on YouTube

Another in a series, this one seems like he gets dangerous at the beginning, but this Signifier really has his shit wired together. Because he digs deep into Malcom X, Louis Farrakhan, Bill Cosby et al. and comes up with some of the best arguments against our present economic application of our political system on video. This is in addition to his excellent historical review and analysis of black conservatives in America.

From My Advanced Age
Before I start this post, Kit, this isn’t your fault.
Well, it’s a little bit your fault, but it’s also some irl people’s fault.
And “fault” isn’t the right word. More like “inspiration.”
See, here’s the thing. I am no longer effortlessly young. I have been informed of this by several sources (see above) and while the teasing is absolutely lighthearted and anyone age 30+ rolls their eyes a little when I mention it, it’s been making me think.
It is no longer easy for me to know what younger people are doing. I’m no longer in high school or college. I refuse to download TikTok, for misinformation/bad take and ADHD reasons. I work a job with older people. I’m going to be a campus missionary soon, and even among them I am the second youngest person on the team. I don’t know what people are thinking anymore, what world is being created by young people, except for what I see on social media (which likes to show extremes and therefore both scares me and isn’t an accurate source for what most people think).
Although I will be working at a college campus and my primary goal will be listening to young people, showing them the God I know, and supporting them however I can. So I will probably hear a lot more of what young people are thinking.
And that’s a relief. Maybe in a chasing-youth sort of way, but mostly because I know what I do not want to become.
The upside of not connecting with people your own age as a teenager is that adults see that and want to connect with you, and they can support you in real ways your peers can’t always be able to also they have money. The downside is that they sometimes forget that you are a youngster, and they talk to you like you are an adult. And you have to sit there like you don’t know someone who fits that exact demographic they’re accidentally (or not) insulting. And sometimes that demographic is you, which is worse.
They bash the things you enjoy, but because they’re the adult you don’t speak up. You just go home and feel a little bit of you close off. And I never want to do that to anyone.
So that means I have to be open minded. I have to be someone people feel safe talking to. But what I’ve learned this year is that it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. It’s easy to look at the world (undoubtedly crazy and mildly an on-fire trash can) and the internet (even more so) and the grownups (mad all the time about things I consider a fact of life and in fact shouldn’t be a surprise if they read their Bibles) and draw conclusions about it based on my own interpretations and experiences. None of which would be all that positive.
But that’s the thing: they’re my interpretations and experiences. How do I know that they’re accurate? That my worldview will show me the way to truth?
Many people I know would say, “Read your Bible, and see if your perspective matches up with the Word of God.” Which is true, and I am attempting to do that. But 1. It’s a little bit of a red herring and 2. that’s part of my crisis: realizing that I don’t know everything about the Bible, because I am an American from the 21st century who grew up middle class and individualist, which is several roadblocks to understanding the work of a book that was written to an ancient culture that was both similar to and different from my own. So my own perspective on what the Bible says may be flawed because of my own culture and experiences! I might be missing context, and context is everything. It goes back to: how do I know what is true, and what is being blocked because of my perspective?
So I want to write about something I’ve noticed, while I’m still working on that. Something that is related to perspective.
We point out that every generation has the old people convinced that young people are becoming more degenerate, that men are becoming more feminine and passive, that women are becoming more masculine and don’t know their place (I can’t be bothered to link them, but I’ve seen Tumblr posts and TikToks mentioning all of these with evidence cited, and I’ve actually googled the degenerate young people thing).
But has anyone bothered to understand why? There might be some obvious answers (sexism for one), but the fact that this is a trend in every generation going back thousands of years and that I’ve already started seeing Millennials get upset at Gen Z’s taste in music or humor and put up nostalgia posts about the good old day tells me something:
It takes work to not become the thing we hate.
It takes work to keep an open positive mindset, to not see a thing that confuses us and think it’s a threat until told otherwise. A negative kind of thinking is pervasive, normal (derogatory), and takes work to avoid. I worry that older people, Millennials and older Gen Z like myself, may preach openness and tolerance but not do the work required to actually practice it.
So how do I avoid it? How do I stay open and be a safe place for people to share their ideas?
I’m not positive. I’m 23, I don’t know a lot. Every year, I become aware of how much I don’t know. Of how often I could be, and am, wrong. Dramatically wrong.
And I think that’s the secret.
I identified as bisexual until shortly before I made this blog. It was valid and important for my growth and essential for me in realizing I was queer, a possibility I didn’t think could be true when I was first realizing it. It was the language I had at the time. It also wasn’t true. I grew when I learned more about how people experience life and how I actually experienced it as well. When I looked for a new way to describe how I felt, when I decided I wanted to be teachable and learn, I was able to accept a new world with a new label that was more accurate to my experience. Even if it was uncomfortable, and involved me learning more about sex and how people interact with it than I ever wanted to know.
A year ago, if you said “he/him lesbians” I would have been utterly confused and mildly consternated. Now I’ve learned (I’m still a little confused but I think I mostly have the idea). In fact, a year ago I had one trans friend I rarely talked to. Now I have multiple trans friends I talk to every single day. And I have learned so much, because I decided to get over my own mild intimidation and concern and unfamiliarity, step into relationship, emphasize similarities and bonding over differences, and actually shut up and listen. And I’m so, so glad I did. I am so glad I decided to be teachable and accept that I don’t know everything about everyone’s experiences. And I, in turn, am so glad that those people made room for me to be their friend, and consider me as a valuable person with her own insights they were willing to hear. I have a little hole of passion in my heart for trans people now and how they’re treated at large, and it’s because I’ve actually listened to their plight rather than other people telling me how I should think about their plight.
On a less serious note, I hate country music. I have also observed that it’s very popular in my area (*cringe*). I’ve also noticed that Morgan Wallen shows up a lot on the charts. So today I decided to listen to a song by him. And I didn’t love the lyrics or his country twang, but I did like the rest of the music behind it. So I’m gonna listen to his album sometime this week. I’m going to grow my music taste a bit, because there has to be a reason why people are connecting to it so much it’s been on the charts for weeks.
Growing old is a fact of life that comes from being born in a certain time and having lived a certain number of years. Staying young is an active choice based on the knowledge that you will never know everything and committing to learn as much as possible all the time.
How do you not become the people you hate? Become the people you loved when you were young. And commit to always learning. Even if it’s uncomfortable. Because you don’t know everything, your perspective is limited even about who you are, let alone about the people around you, and you are always capable of growth. How can you make logical deductions if you don’t have all the evidence?
Commit to being teachable, and you will always find something new to learn.

Quote
Donald Trump is on the verge of becoming the GOP nominee for the presidency for the third straight election. What might have seemed like a historical blip in 2016 that was remedied by Trump’s general election defeat in 2020 is now an eternal black mark on the Republican Party. Hijacked by Trump, purged of its traditional middle-of-the-road corporate conservatives, and transformed into a cult of personality, the Republican Party is unrecognizable as the party of Lincoln. Gone are the Bushes, Cheneys, and Romneys. In are the worst group of scoundrels, hacks, hangers-on, and would-be authoritarians this nation has ever seen. Whatever quaint and out-dated notions remained that Iowa’s Midwestern conservatism and its rural and highly educated populace would serve as an important early filter in the nominating process can be put to rest. A majority of Iowa Republican caucus-goers went for Trump after the travesties of the Trump presidency: the failed response to the COVID pandemic, the indignity of losing to Joe Biden, and the insurrection at the Capitol, among so many others.
Iowa GOP Embraces Insurrectionist For POTUS
Racist losers choose racist loser to represent the party of racist losers.
Also, just to keep some perspective: Shitler “won” by getting about 44,000 people in one state, known for its high concentration of white supremacist christians.
Don’t be fooled by media that this is some kind of meaningful comeback for him. He’s still a criminal, he’s still a liar and a conman. He’s still going to prison for the rest of his life. This is not his political comeback. This is forty thousand pieces of shit in a nation of around 340 million people who overwhelmingly despise him.
Stay vigilant. Get out the vote. Don’t get complacent, but don’t be fooled by a “comeback” narrative that horserace-driven media needs to sell advertising.

Alright, so I've been a fan of Shane, Ryan and even Steven since their buzzfeed days and I've been watching this whole thing with Watcher moving their content over to their own streaming service debacle.
Like most ppl, I think it's a poor business move to alienate your fans like this, but I've been thinking on it more from maybe a financial perspective. I'm wondering how many people actually signed up for it. I saw a tiktok advertising expert say that the conversion rate for ads--meaning the number of ppl to actually buy something when they see an ad is about 1-5%. Like, right now they have about 2.8 million subscribers. And even though they've lost about 50K since and counting, they probably anticipated some loss. I'm sure they've mathed that if they just get at least like 100K conservatively out of their nearly 3 million fanbase to sign up, they'd be able to make $600K a month from their streaming service at six bucks a pop each month.
Maybe that's worth it? I'm not exactly sure how much they were making before. Ppl say they had 11K subscribers on patreon before but that's just their member total. Actual paid members was about 5K. But despite the controversy, their patreon member count has actually gone up. Today it sits at 12K members total with nearly 6K members paying. So they're making at least $30K-70K+ a month currently on patreon based on their offered tiers. not sure how much they were making on ad revenue alone or sponsors cuz I'm not sure how that stuff works on youtube. But maybe by their own accounting they think the loss of followers was worth it if they can hang on to that small, loyal but paying minority.
Another youtuber has pointed out that if you have a sponsor for a video and it's a one off, it can pay more. Up to $35K. So if that is the peak and they release 1 video a week, so 4 a month would be like 140K a month on sponsor money. And youtube pays about $10 per 1000 views a video, and they average 1 mil each video. So about $40K a month on views. So we can guess that they made about $180K a month currently on youtube (patreon and merch sales not included).
Honestly, if they can reach the goal of 1-5% of their subscribers converting to their streaming platform, yeah they probably would make more money in the long run. IF they can somehow manage to retain as well as grow those number of subscribers on their new platform. And don't forget, they don't plan to delete their current videos on their youtube channel so they'll still be earning revenue from those videos. We'll have to see I guess given how much goodwill they've lost with their audience.
Tbh, I am all for them trying to get paid more for their work but I also think they could have transitioned much differently, like only putting some exclusive content on their own platform while also posting free shows to youtube. Or maybe delaying releases for a week or a month for youtubers. or cutting back your production costs if it's really killing you cuz everyone has pointed out they liked the ghoul boys when it was just a black screen with text scrolling by saying "wheeze." Only time will tell if this move paid off for them.
But I'm not super knowledgeable on how the entire youtube thing works so if someone has some insight, feel free to weigh in.

Earthquake Reveals Aztec Snakehead Beneath Mexico City
Researchers are conserving a rare snakehead from the Aztecs that still retains its painted colors from hundreds of years ago.
An earthquake last year revealed a big surprise beneath a law school in modern-day Mexico City: a giant, colorful snakehead from the Aztec Empire.
The snakehead dates back more than 500 years, to when the Aztecs controlled the area, which at the time was part of the flourishing capital of Tenochtitlan. The sculpture was discovered after a magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck Mexico City on Sept. 19, 2022; the seismic event caused damage and changes in the topography, revealing the snakehead beneath a building that was part of a law school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) said in a Spanish-language statement.
The Aztecs built temples and pyramids and worshipped a number of deities, including Quetzalcoatl, who was often depicted as a snake. However, it's unclear if this sculpture depicts him, the archaeologists said.
The sculpted snake is 5.9 feet (1.8 meters) long, 2.8 feet (0.85 m) wide and 3.3 feet (1 m) high, and it weighs about 1.3 tons (1.2 metric tons), the INAH said. Several colors — including red, blue, black and white — are preserved on the sculpture.
Tumblr media
Color was preserved on about 80% of the sculpture's surface. To keep it preserved, an INAH team lifted the snakehead out of the ground with a crane and constructed a humidity chamber around the sculpture. This chamber allows the sculpture to lose humidity gradually, with its color being preserved, María Barajas Rocha, a conservationist with the INAH who worked extensively on the sculpture, said in the statement.
While other snakehead sculptures have been found at Tenochtitlan, this one is particularly important for its preserved colors, said Erika Robles Cortés, an archaeologist with the INAH.
Tumblr media
"Thanks to the context in which this piece was discovered, but above all, thanks to the stupendous intervention of the restorers-conservators led by Maria Barajas, it has been possible to stabilize the colors for its preservation in almost all the sculpture, which is extremely important, because the colors have helped us to conceive pre-Hispanic art from another perspective," Robles Cortés told Live Science in an email.
The sculpture's "sheer size is impressive, as well as its artistry," but the survival of the colors is remarkable, said Frances Berdan, a professor emeritus of anthropology at California State University, San Bernardino who was not involved with the excavation. "The survival of black, white, red, yellow, and blue paints is particularly interesting — one gains a good image of the visual impact of such sculptures as they were arrayed about the city center," Berdan said in an email.
Tumblr media
In addition to its preserved colors, the snakehead's size is notable, said Bertrand Lobjois, an associate professor of humanities at the University of Monterrey in Mexico who is not involved in the excavation. The "first time I saw this serpent head, I was dazzled by its dimensions," he said in an email.
Lobjois also praised the conservation work that allowed the colors to survive, noting that "the conservation process allows us to appreciate the naturalistic approach of figuration" the Aztec artists used.
This work is ongoing and will continue at the site into next year.

They are just saying out loud what they are planning for Donald Trump and all of us supporters.
This is scary because whenever they accuse Trump of doing something, they themselves do it about a year later.
