Every time a man has brought victory to the dignity of the spirit, every time a man has said no to an attempt to enslave his fellow man, I have felt a sense of solidarity with his act.

Every one of my acts commits me as a man. Every one of my silences, every one of my cowardices reveals me as a man.

On this level one would have only to demonstrate that Jung has confused instinct and habit. In his view, in fact, the collective unconscious is bound up with the cerebral structure, the myths and archetypes are permanent engrams of the race. I hope I have shown that nothing of the sort is the case and that in fact the collective unconscious is cultural, which means acquired. Just as a young mountaineer of the Carpathians, under the physico-chemical conditions of his country, is likely to develop a myxedema, so a Negro like René Maran, who has lived in France and breathed and eaten the myths and prejudices of racist Europe, and assimilated the collective unconscious of that Europe, will be able, if he stands outside himself, to express only his hatred of the Negro.

The density of History determines none of my acts. I am my own foundation. And it is by going beyond the historical and instrumental given that I initiate my cycle of freedom.

Cut panel
@cool-thymus I hear u <3 I was sad about that too. The final page was going to have a fully zoomed out cuddle view and I worked on it for days but I just couldn't get the colors and shading right and the drawing felt stiff somehow. I also couldn't for the life of me figure out where to place/bend Obito's right arm because sometimes anatomy is a real struggle. I ended up cutting it (the entire panel, not just Obito's arm) instead of crying any more over it. Here's a grayscale version of how far I got! (the colors were really muddy and blegh, night time is difficult to paint T_T)
