There are two types of smoke alarm. One of 'em ain't so good. Which one is better? Now that's a burning question. Also, don't start tearing apart smoke alarms and playing with the americium. It's mostly harmless when outside your body but if it gets in there can be trouble. I just stayed up all night making a list of 100 Movies I Wish Everyone Would Watch because this is what I do with my life now. If anyone is curious I’m putting them below the cut.  I have very good taste. That last part is a lie.
DISCLAIMER: This is not a list of 100 movies that I think are the best examples of the craft (although some of them certainly are). This is a list of 100 personal favourites that have moved me personally, deeply influenced me, or I just plain wish more people would see them (for good or for ill). Sorry for including 1 Roman Polanski film, rest assured I’m praying he dies a horrible and painful death asap (and he can take Woody Allen with him).

Dan Nainan
Dan Nainan was born in Bloomington, Indiana on May 4, 1981. He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1999.
As a senior engineer with Intel Corporation, Dan Nainan designed and presented highly technical demonstrations on stage with Intel Chairman Andy Grove at high-profile events all over the world. He took a comedy class to help get over the fear of public speaking at these events, at which the audiences numbered in the thousands, or sometimes in the millions on television.
Tumblr media
The “final exam” for the comedy class was a performance at the Punchline Comedy Club in San Francisco, a performance which was a resounding success. Dan’s Intel coworkers, upon viewing the videotape, invited him to perform at a team dinner for 200 employees at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Upon seeing that performance, the organizers of Intel’s annual sales conference asked Dan to perform for 2,500 salespeople from around the world. His dead-on impressions of Andy Grove and American presidents had the audience rolling in the aisles at 8 a.m. on a Monday morning. Many in the audience thought that he had been hired as a professional comedian, in what was only his third comedy performance ever.
Over the next two years, Dan was tapped to perform at various Intel functions. At the company’s holiday party, he was introduced by Dr. Grove himself, whereupon he proceeded to mimic the Chairman’s distinctive accent and abrupt manner to the point where Mrs. Grove was crying from laughing so hard. Dan was promoted to Strategic Relations Manager for the East Coast, enabling him to move from Silicon Valley to New York City. Restless in his stationary new job and anxious to use his creative talents, he left Intel to pursue standup comedy full time.
In only his second year doing comedy, Dan won a comedy contest at the Washington, DC Improv and the chance to open for noted HBO comedian Robert Schimmel. He convinced Robert to let him perform in Robert’s Hawaii shows. Dan flew to Honolulu at his own expense, and Robert was impressed enough with Dan’s performance to invite the young comedian to tour with him as his feature act for a year. As a result, Dan performed at some of the country’s top comedy clubs, and Robert took him under his wing to teach him about the finer points of the business.
Dan was fortunate enough to be at the New York Improv (now the Broadway Comedy Club) when Canadian comic sensation Russell Peters headlined. After Russell’s performance, there was extra time available, so Dan begged to perform. Because of that one performance, Russell subsequently asked Dan to tour with him as his opening act. Dan and Russell toured the world together, performing in theaters and arenas. Dan both produced and performed in Russell’s show at the Apollo Theater in New York City.
Dan continues to tour with Russell, and the exposure has allowed Dan to headline his own shows. A 100% clean comedian, Dan has performed at charity events, corporate functions, weddings, private parties, colleges, casinos, cruise ships and at the top comedy clubs in the country. He performed for President Obama at a gala in Washington, and the president called him “Hilarious”. Dan has also performed for Hillary Clinton, Michael Bloomberg, Steve Wozniak, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Howard Dean, Tony Blair’s wife Cherie, Antonio Villaraigosa, John Tesh, Connie Sellecca, Yoko Ono, Phylicia Rashad and for many other celebrities. He has performed with noted comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Saget, Brad Garrett, Tim Conway, Jim Gaffigan, and Garry Shandling.
Dan Nainan has performed all over the United States, as well as in Aruba, Canada, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Qatar, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and of course on multiple tours of India. He even performed on a jet chartered by Intel for the press, from Las Vegas to San Jose, during the Consumer Electronics Show.
Dan attended the 2009 inauguration of President Obama as a guest of US Congressman Mike Honda, and he also performed at three inaugural events in Washington. At one of the inaugural events, the president’s sister told him she thought his act was excellent. He also performed at the first TED conference in India, and he recently performed on the Muscular Dystrophy Association Labor Day Telethon live from Las Vegas along with Carrot Top and Penn and Teller. Dan also performed at the 2008 and 2012 Democratic National Conventions in Denver and Charlotte. Dan has been seen on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”, the MDA Telethon, on A&E, Nickelodeon and on various television commercials. Dan also does character voices on radio stations all over America and is best known for his Bill Clinton impression. He had a small role in “The Last Airbender” alongside “Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel and Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi. The movie was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Dan also starred in his first national commercial for Apple Computer, one in the “Get a Mac” series with Justin Long and John Hodgman. The son of a South Asian nuclear physicist and an East Asian child psychologist, Dan is an accomplished musician who started piano lessons at the age of two. He sings and plays piano/keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and cello, and played the cello in “The Hoax”, a 2007 movie with Richard Gere. A former touring musician, he is also working on an album of original music.
A world traveler and adventurer, Dan Nainan enjoys learning languages and extreme sports such as bungee jumping, scuba diving, skiing rollerblading and skydiving. He was recently profiled in the New York Times, and a major literary agent in New York saw the article and signed him to a book deal about his transition from Intel to stand up comedy. An early riser, Dan avoids the bar scene, preferring to focus on languages, music, and reading, as well as on creative and athletic pursuits.
Dan is also a published author, with a book and a DVD available on Amazon, and with another book forthcoming.

Can you think of any other shows that have a couple like hyde and Jackie?
Sure I do, man xD.
Gossip Girl: Dan and Blair, lots of people consider them modern time Hyde and Jackie, and they aren’t wrong. Seriously the paralles between both couples are? incredible? And once again, like zenmasters and swarkles, dlair ended up bad with her staying with an asshole that is also an abuser /:Blair is a lot like Jackie, both are rich, spoiled and materialistic princess with a heart of gold. Maybe in Blair’s case a little bit more deep down than Jackie. GG is not a sitcom, so charaterization is more consistent and Blair’s character has her ups and downs. While Dan, he is our cold hearted character who does’t do relationships and kinda hated Blair at the begining. They become friends, and then start a relationship we all thought was going to be endgame. We all hoped and prayed was gonna be endgame.… But you know. It seems like my kind of ship is “dead by bad writing”.
How I Met Your Mother: Barney and Robin, with her being kinda like Hyde and him being kinda like Jackie. In this case, they both have comintment issues, but also resolve them better than in t70s (mostly because these characters are grown ass adults). But like in t70s, they have a gross ending in which they don’t end up together.Robin reminds me a lot of a female version of Hyde, all rude and strong, doesn’t do relationships for long, can’t comit for shit, doesn’t even want to get married (at first). While Barney is spoiled, rich guy who ends up being such a sap romantic little shit. But Barney’s past is more similar to Hyde’s (dude, his family life was awful– except that he had a great mother. This is like, Edna gone good, to be honest) and all his money he got it from his own hard work. Like Jackie, his heart was broken when he was young by a girlfriend he thought was the one, who cheated on him horribly. Different from Jackie, he changes for bad. While Robin dates Ted first, Barney’s best friend, like Jackie dates Kelso, one of Hyde’s best friends. And at first, Barney is jelous of that, but eventually comes to terms with it and befriends Robin quickly. They have a lot of incredible chemistry, as both friends and lovers. Not to mention their relationship turns out to be the most healthy and natural one from the damn show. But, once more, writers ruined it.
Modern Family: Haley and Andy, in which Haley is basically what we all think the daughter of Hyde and Jackie would be like. Not only does the actress looks like Mila Kunis, but her personality is a lot like Jackie’s but her core characterization, what makes her a good girl and what gives her conflict, are very similar to Hyde’s. She’s compassionate and agressivily protective of her brothers and family, and is expected to be the burden, the kid that does nothing with her life even when she’s brilliant but lazy. She has also comintment problems, and is scared of marriage. But she falls in love with Andy, who has like– all the good things Jackie have. He is sweet and father-like, loyal, romantic and so freaking ready for comintment and family life like Jackie. Like Jackie, he also has a big ego and sees himself as a great catch, he sees his life being great and sees himself having a great family. So, you can say the characters are inverted here. They also have three arcs similar to Hyde and Jackie. The first one being them becoming friends. They can’t stand the other at the begining, he considers her a spoiled brat like Hyde thought of Jackie, and she tried to manipulate him with her looks and pouts like Jackie often does. Slowly, they become friends and she starts feeling attracted to him before he ever has feelings for her.The second one is that when they are finally together and are getting into the best part of their relationship, he believes she would leave him at any given time once she becomes bored with him, so he decides to go all wild and be more like her to prove her he is worthy of her. Kinda like Jackie did, two times, in t70s.The last one, the more obvious one: he gets a big job offer out of town, in another state and they must decide what will happen with their relationship. The difference is that the writers weren’t such pricks to the characters, and Andy and Haley got to talk about the issue and decide together what to do.Ultimately he leaves and they start a long distance relationship, that later in season 8 (seems like season 8 is the destroyer of dreams) ends abruptly when she has a regretion to her old abits of being a burnout. The diference is that everyone around the show is interested in saving the relationship and end Haley’s arc on a better note. They had to let go of the actor that interpretates Andy for schelude reasons, but they wanted him as a regular for season 8. Now that the acotr has a more clear schelude, we are all waiting to maybe have some good news soon. And honestly? If all actors shipped their characters the way Sarah Hyland (Haley) ships Andy/Haley, we all would be happy in our fandoms lol.

Big guns return
COLLINGWOOD has picked Ben Reid for the first time in 2017 for Saturday’s JLT Community Series clash with Richmond at Moe.
The All Australian carried a posterior cruciate ligament for most of last season before having surgery and his return will add plenty to the Magpie backline.
Tim Broomhead will play his first game for the Pies since last May, while they have named ruckman Brodie Grundy despite the corked calf he suffered at training during the week.
Josh Smith has also been named despite an ankle injury.
Richmond defender Bachar Houli will step out for the first time this year. The long-kicking Houli has overcome a hamstring in time to get some much-needed match practice ahead of the season opener against Carlton in a fortnight.
Dion Prestia and Shane Edwards also return to the side after being rested last week, while the Tigers squad also includes youngsters Jayden Short, Connor Menadue, Mabior Chol, Tyson Stengle and Ivan Soldo. Among those to miss include Corey Ellis and Kane Lambert.
Adelaide has regained goalkickers Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins and Mitch McGovern for the game against the Brisbane Lions at Noarlunga on Saturday.
Betts and Jenkins were rested last week, while McGovern was nursing a minor knee injury. Dean Gore (concussion) will miss.
The Brisbane Lions have lost one gun first-year player with No.3 draft pick Hugh McCluggage sidelined for a month with an ankle injury, but have replaced him with his TAC Cup teammate, No.24 pick Cedric Cox, a skilful and versatile half-back. Otherwise the Lions have picked a strong-looking side.
Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard will be rested from Sunday’s hit-out against Hawthorn at Noarlunga. Brad Ebert, Aaron Young, Jake Neade, Brendon Ah Chee and Matt White are among inclusions.
Hawthorn will leave Luke Hodge and Josh Gibson behind, but have brought back Isaac Smith, Paul Puopolo, Shaun Burgoyne, Grant Birchall and Ben McEvoy.
Former Adelaide defender Ricky Henderson is set for his first game in the brown and gold, while the club’s first pick at last year’s national draft, Harry Morrison and powerful Irish recruit Conor Nash are also in the squad.
Geelong regains veteran defender Andrew Mackie for Sunday’s clash with Essendon at Bendigo. Joining him for the trip to skipper Joel Selwood’s home town is defender Cam Guthrie, who has overcome a calf complaint. Lincoln McCarthy has been named for now despite a shoulder injury last weekend.
Essendon has picked its strongest squad of the pre-season, with Zach Merrett, David Zaharakis, Mark Baguley, Orazio Fantasia, Dyson Heppell, Patrick Ambrose, James Kelly and Matt Dea all back in.
Josh Green (foot) and Jordan Ridley (back) are out, while Mason Redman, Dylan Clarke, Jake Long, Heath Hocking and Conor McKenna have missed selection.
The Sydney squad for Sunday’s clash with St Kilda at Lavington features youngsters Oliver Florent, Will Hayward, Robbie Fox and Darcy Cameron, who may be given one last chance to impress before the season opener in 16 days against Port Adelaide.
New St Kilda skipper Jarryn Geary returns, as do Nick Riewoldt, and defenders Dylan Roberton and Sam Gilbert. The Saints have included both ruckmen Tom Hickey and Billy Longer, but it could be a battle for round one selection with coach Alan Richardson yet to declare whether he can carry both players in his best 22.
The final weekend of the JLT Community Series restricts each club to six players on the bench while interchange rotations are monitored for the first time.

Cantonné au début de sa carrière aux seconds rôles (Max dans Midnight Express ou G.W. Il a été également le conteur d'histoire dans la série Monstres et Merveilles qui est adaptée de légendes celtiques, russes ou encore allemande, en 1987.
