It’s not talked about enough that the reason Izuku thinks of saving others as an ideal is because he spent so much of his life being terrorized by others. That he’s a great hero because he knows what it feels like to be in need of saving

So I got in my feels about All Might again
and one of the muses decided to come down and kiss me on my little sleep deprived forehead to help me get this brainrot out
so I wrote a scene
to make a case showing how him telling Izuku what he did on the rooftop was the most heroic thing he ever did
Tw: some gruesome descriptions of violence and gore
“Can I still be a hero even if I’m quirkless?”
Toshinori stopped mid launch. He shouldn’t have. He was running out of time. He should take what measly few seconds he can rake together from his quirk and make a heroic exit.
His lung hurt. That sentence in of itself was a conundrum.
There was nothing to hurt.
So then why did it ache so much right now?
He turned back and looked at the kid, still mumbling on. Pain throbbed up and down his body like a stampeding herd. Very big horses with very big, spiked hooves made of staples and stitches and grafts.
He looked down and he did not see a kid.
He saw bruised knuckles. He saw chipped teeth. He saw callouses and scars and lips and twitches when a sound was just a bit too much like the bang of a gun.
He heard desperate pleas for help. He heard people dying. Horrible, terrible deaths. He heard bodies make sounds that no body should be able to make.
He smelled gunpowder and ozone and the fresh iron of blood and the unmistakable miasma of rotting carcasses and infected wounds and the even more horrid stench of gauze and disinfectant and hospitals and bodies being cremated.
He did not hear whatever the boy said next.
He heard, I leave the rest to you, All Might.
He thought about the rest.
He thought about sleepless nights when by the fourth day or so, everything started to lose meaning. When you no longer are tired you’re just— no longer are anything.
He thought about Torino’s feet meeting his jaw again and again and again. How it feels to swish mouthfuls of teeth and blood diluted saliva around before spitting them and getting up again.
It was always again. Never finally.
He thought about crying. Alone. He thought about fingers digging into fingers in search of someone to hold but finding only his own crooked, calloused hands.
He felt the thin bones of a skull crackling underneath those same desperate fingers like sacramental bread. He felt how soft everyone was underneath that thin, thin layer of measly bone.
Even the most rotten of people.
All he wished was to use those hands to help and all he did was sully them in blood.
Toshinori deflated.
The kid, of course, freaked out. Toshinori just— sighed. He couldn’t find it in himself to be bothered for some reason. He rarely could these days. They were just a red and blue and yellow mishmash of fights he rushed and press interviews he fled and fans he could not spare time and colleagues he no longer knew how to address.
And when you mush together so many colours, in the end, it all just becomes a murky grey.
Toshinori blinked to banish all that grey away and set on reassuring the kid that he was, in fact, the ‘real’ All Might. In the whatever flesh he still had on his bones pierced by hero-grade titanium implants.
The horror on the middle school student’s face somehow made his nonexistent side hurt all the more. Something in there bled still. And Toshinori, for all his raging inner fire, did not know how to cauterise it.
The kid was small. Barely five feet. Face soft and squishy, eyes sparkling and round even if they were red from crying and a bit jittery from residue adrenaline. His hands were delicate, fingers all straight and dainty. The only imperfection on them was a writer’s bump.
His smile was wobbly but it was honest.
Toshinori opened his mouth to say the words. To shove all that down and indulge this kid like he did all the others. Yes, even quirkless ones. He said to them what he himself would have liked to hear way back.
But then he closed it. The kid stared at him, at his hollow vessel of a body with anticipation exuding from every pore like an admiration-fuelled furnace.
He was so young.
He was so innocent.
Toshinori imagined that frame a few years from now. Bulkier but also getting kinda crooked. He imagined how those dainty hands would look covered in blood and dirt, twisted and slightly shaking from damage sustained.
He imagined those teeth kicked in, those eyes blackened, those protruding collar bones broken and remade again and again until there wasn’t a part of this child not contorted by the greatest profession of them all.
He imagined looking into those impossibly large eyes and seeing a lingering shadow behind them. A shadow of guilt and anger and fear.
He imagined the green-haired boy bleeding out on the ground with his entire insides splayed like a morbid art piece and he decided to spare a life.
“A smile that knows no fear, huh…”

Not a meaningless crush: Ochako's crush on Izuku doesn't have much to do with Izuku at all
- Vague Manga Spoilers
Many people who watch My Hero Academia go through a similar process with Ochako Uraraka’s character: they think she’s the typical Female Lead That Could Be A Love Interest, then grow to like her when some of her motivations are revealed early in Season 1, and then get annoyed by her when the latter half of Season 2 – the Final Exam Arc – puts some focus on her crush on the main character, Izuku Midoriya.
While it seems like shallow and unnecessary fanservice, this crush of her serves an actual purpose in the plot and for her character, but not in the romantic sense. In fact, it doesn’t have much to do with Izuku at all.
Enter Himiko Toga. Here's a comment made by Horikoshi himself:
Tumblr media
There's a lot of similaties between them, but here we're going to focus on the crush and romance aspect, to see why Ochako's crush on Izuku was just a way to establish her relationship with Toga.
Season 2: Final Exams
The first proper focus we have of Ochako’s crush on Izuku is during the second half of season 2 - first during her final exam, and later in the final episode at the shopping mall.
Toga is also properly introduced to us during these episodes, although we see a glimpses of her (and Dabi) earlier in the Season.
Season 3: The Training Camp
This is where it really starts, as Ochako and Toga meet for the first time.
Tsuyu is also at the scene, and Toga shows an interest in both of then, referring to both of them as “cute”,
But she focuses more on Ochako, saying something along the lines of her sensing that Ochako has a crush on someone, which of course, was shown to us in the earlier episodes.
Tsuyu doesn’t have a crush on anyone, and thus recieves a little less of Toga’s attention.
Tumblr media
A major point established about Toga’s character is that when she likes someone, she doesn’t only want to become like that person, but actually become that person.
As shown to us before, Ochako has a pretty high level of respect and admiration towards Izuku.
Toga notices this, and coupled with the crush, she assumes that Ochako also wants to be like Izuku “You want to be the same as the person you like, right?”
At this point, we’ve also learnt that Toga also has a crush on Izuku, and wants to become him.
So, it’s easy to understand that Toga thought Ochako would understand her in regards to this. [this is then confirmed in Chapter 289 and 348]
A conversation: Chapter 342
Toga is a villain that has killed a lot of people, and has no qualms about bringing destruction to the city.
Ochako has fought her a couple times, but only as a hero vs. a villain.
Their conversations [chapter 289] consisted of Ochako saying things that was obvious to her with the way her life has been up until now.
In her conversation with Izuku in chapter 342, she mentions how she realizes now that Toga is just a person too, and that what’s obvious for her doesn’t apply to Toga.
Izuku mentions how he feels the same with Shigaraki and the cying child inside him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 394: Ochako vs. Toga
Yes, Ochako explicitely states that she fell in love in Izuku Midoriya.
No, that is not the point of the chapter.
The point is that her love and admiration made her want to be more like him, to see people’s hearts like he does. [re: chapter 342, Izuku trying to save Shigaraki’s heart]
As stated before, Ochako has realized that she hasn’t been trying to see Toga as more than a villain she had to defeat, and now she is reaching out, trying to save Toga’s heart even if it’s too late.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love and Smiles
“Smiling is why we live our lives”. - Dabi to Toga, Chapter 341
This has always been their thing.
Toga, who has been cast out of society due her “weird” and “creepy” quirk, and the way she shows her love,
Toga, who wants a place where she can exist just the way she is, loving who she loves, and smiling when she wants to
Ochako, whose parents always happily encouraged her and made time for her even when they were struggling with money and tired from work
Ochako, whose eyes were drawn to the smiling citizens when a hero saved someone and defeated a villain, and wanted to be the reason for those smiles
Also reminder that as much as they are made for each other they also exist as characters outside of that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion,
People who think Ochako is nothing more than a heroine that has a crush on the main character are stupid and have no reading comprehension.
People who say that Ochako’s character “fell off” after the romance was introduced only care to see their bias about female leads proven right have no patience for the actual story.
Her crush is a way to establish her story with Toga.
Horikoshi is a great storyteller and everything he does in the story is for a reason [except Mineta in the earlier chapters]. <33

So @bibibbon talked about the chapter and was thinking in sit this one down but...nah, I want to say how...this chapter is another proof this is not a story where Izu will be the biggest hero, but the biggest martyr if he is lucky.
The fact Izu is now quirkless and lost an arm is...gross. really gross. I talked to @doodlegirl1998 how the trope people created in fics where "Izu loses his arm ain't cool?" Is really not cool. He loses an army for shocking value and gains nothing. Edward Elric wants to revive his mother and then save his bother...he lost his power but got something greater in return...and people think Izu and Edward's cases are the same. Not even in fics make similar.
@palesweetscherryblossom Izu lost his arm and quirk to save a lunatic. The fandom is weeping about Tenko's friends "he was so good" cricket noises to Izu as in chapter 1 we saw him doing the whole "helping misfit" but no misfit helped him.
Now .... something some people may not agree. Dfo! No. I dont think it will be canon nor I want to be. Afo has show he doesn't care for Izu (guys Inko already suck as mother...do we need to give this to Izu? What would help? I even think he wants to die now "don't have anything outside for me now")
We saw afo on a "date" with Kotaro and people may think this will lead to dfo. I think it will lead to afo being a creepy. Dude is doing everything to ruin Nana's family for....reasons we don't know. (If Nana was a man...would he have done this extreme? Not calling afo a sexist but if she was a man would the narrative treat the situation the same? Maybe, maybe not)
Afo is alive and well...inside Shig's world. We will see this asshole be his cringe self and ...Izu won't matter. We are seeing more of this joke now...afo walking around and talking to people is supposed to be scary "oooh the demon is among us" and if the writing was good this could have been a great twist....it's MHA. Afo was ausent in the story and is now a pitiful plot device.
A theory I saw...is how Yoichi may be the biggest hero and...sacrifice himself to end afo. So in a way, ending afo and ofa forever. Why he never did this before? Who cares? But this theory is still too optimist.
Izu and shig's memories don't really matter. It's an artificial way to make them seem as if they had a great relationship, they don't. Also ....have we saw any memory that matter for Izu? He has any good memory?
But yeah...afo gave shig decay...somehow. bc why not? You know, if Izu doesn't die...I do hope Eri rewind him so his arm is back.
Not sure if I'm making sense...it's just MHA is a big nothing and at the same time "fuck you Izu. Be silent" and his only theory is ...that fandom clings for some reason is "izu is the son of afo" and for what? What this would change? Afo calls Izu useless...he doesn't like him nor show any paternal love...guys, look how he treats Shig...why he would be a dad or want to be one?
I think next chapter....we will see afo's past again...more of the parasite. Seeing him planning how to ruin the Shimuras (the Shimuras as the newest chewing toy) and laughing maniacally. Why all that? Bc fuck you Nana.
Also.....Izu saw MONCHAN and Hana die. Great. He has no idea who they are but ...he saw they dying.

this is really obvious and well laid out in the manga, but i just really like the way that all might and bakugou's final fights both center around closure for the things they said to izuku in chapter 1. and both of those fights are clearly a culmination of multi-faceted character arcs for both characters, but i still find it really interesting that the centerpiece for those fights is the way that they are both forced to confront, one more time, the incorrect things they told izuku in chapter fucking one.
All Might in chapter 1 tells Izuku that quirkless people can't be heroes. Even in chapter 1, we can see how this statement is almost as much about him and his own anxieties about his limitations as it is about Izuku. And that's expanded on in his character arc throughout the series, which focuses on power and powerlessness as he gives up his quirk and has to figure out how he fits into the world as a quirkless person. And here in the end, we see repeated flashbacks to that first conversation on the rooftop as he fights all for one quirkless, despite tsukauchi telling him he can't do it without a quirk.
Tumblr media
Other things in that final fight act as culminations of his character development--All Might, once a pretty bad teacher, using support equipment that showcases the quirks of the students he's come to love; All Might, who spent so much of the series with the expectation that he would sacrifice both his body and his life to heroism, instead surviving the fight because he wanted to live. But the clear central theme of the fight was All Might, experiencing the powerlessness he once saw in Izuku, and being a hero in spite of that perceived powerlessness (the same way he saw izuku step up that afternoon).
Like All Might's fight, there are many culminating themes in Bakugou's fights with Shigaraki and All for One--the boy who viewed himself as All Might's end getting to save his hero, the boy who was once left to die in the hands of a sludge villain brought back to life by a new trio of heroes (that was a point someone else made, link me the post if you can find it because I sure can't).
But the central theme in that fight is clearly tied to his words in chapter 1, when he tells Izuku how worthless he is, tells everyone else in his class that they're just secondary characters in his story, and notably tells izuku to kill himself if he wants to have a quirk (wants to be worthy) so bad.
So then! Of course! In his fight with Shigaraki, Shigaraki tells him that he's worth nothing outside of who he is to izuku, basically calls him a supporting character in somebody else's story. And then! Bakugou walks back into the fight, knowing he's gonna die, and his last thoughts are if he will ever reach izuku (will he be worthy?).
And like. Then he comes back to life, accepts izuku's hand, accepts help from all might, says a sincere thank you to edgeshot, says, 'this is our tale!' and 'i'm the guy that steps in when the nerd can't handle it on his own!' and 'yeah i never coulda hoped to beat that, at least not alone.' because he's not the only character in the story, but that doesn't mean that he's weak or worthless. and, just like all might, at the culmination of bakugou's fight, we get the flashback to chapter 1 izuku, and bakugou changing his answer to izuku:
Tumblr media
anyway, people have talked all this to death but i just! really really like the way that these fights bring everything back to the beginning of the whole story, the way they turn the words that both characters spoke to izuku back on themselves, and the way that they both answer the 'original sins' of bakugou and all might, and showcase just how much both characters have grown and developed over the course of the series. it's just. so well done!

Chapter 419 Analysis or "How to completely break Tenko Shimura" a manipulative guide from All For One (part 1)
This is mainly a character analysis of Shigaraki Tomura or Shimura Tenko, any other character present is there to help.
Chapter 419 was hard to comprehend even with just summaries right on April 4th. Some things need at least fan translation to fully make sense. Or just hurt more in that matter.
Warning of spoilers to the whole manga to the point of chapter 419! All of the warnings from the respective Tomura chapters are applicable.
So like... mentions of death, killing other people, manipulation, emotional abuse and many more!
This is Part 1 - See Part 2 for something less depressing
This is going to be long! So let's start, shall we?
First of all we'll need to take into understanding ALL the chapters that we'll need to remember/reread just make this chapter worse (skip if already familiar with them):
Chapter 222 - Tomura Shigaraki: Distortion
Tumblr media
Chapter 234 - Destruction Sense
Tumblr media
Chapter 235 - Tenko Shimura: Origins
Tumblr media
Chapter 236 - Tenko Shimura Origins, Part 2
Tumblr media
Chapter 237 - Tomura Shigaraki: Origins
Tumblr media
This is your "Tenko and Tomura understanding" starter pack, basically. Without them it's harder to even start unpacking what just happened with Tomura's perspective in mind
Well then.
Tumblr media
The chapter starts and we are immediately greeted by AFO semi-agreeing without wanting to, that Tomura was strong enough before Izuku started trying "saving" him in his own way and even succeeded making Tenko's will all the more fragile than it was when he returned using his hate to his advantage.
Even after Izuku holding Tenko's hands for the whole chapter he was still stubborn enough to continue even without that hate in his heart
And the thing that initial summaries missed was the fact that Tomura actually reacted to AFO reapperance.
Still not understanding why AFO was even saying that.
Tumblr media
Tenko was literally taught by AFO to follow "what he wants" in ch 237 with Tenko making his first decision to kill someone himself. And never actually hiding that Tomura just needed to never forget that hatred and those bad emotions that Tomura never really understood. And it took Izuku seconds to decipher them.
With AFO reassuring Tomura that he has no need in following morals of society and just should follow whatever he wants - his want to destroy everything that hurts him. And only AFO would accept and help him. He was constantly reminded of that.
Tumblr media
Even if Tenko was feeling sick from killing at first, even if hands that he wore were still making him sick 15 years later without him understanding anything. Decisions made while person is emotional are usually the ones that the person might regret the most and Tomura lived with those unstable emotions for years. Knowing that they hurt him and make him feel sick.
But Sensei said that it's okay to follow those emotions. That's it's actually great that he does it.
Everything was for his sake, everything was for Tomura Shigaraki and Tomura Shigaraki only. He was his Sensei's successor and no one should argue with it. He's the only one to be next ruler of the underground and the next king. And Tomura gladly accepted that as truth.
Since it was easier than facing his guilt.
Tumblr media
Because AFO just needed Tomura to have enough willpower to get OFA when the plan is ready. To make Gigantomachia to follow him while Garaki was watching knowing full well how the plan is going. Both knowing full well that Tomura is still holding himself back.
In this chapter however we finally see how all of the things AFO told and taught Tenko were just to make him so sure that HE was in control and allowed to do whatever he wants to completely break his worldview in the end "after he gets OFA" which is an unreachable goal now since OFA is gone for good.
By just saying that Tenko never had any choice to begin with.
Tumblr media
Tomura already knew that AFO manipulated him and he was just a pawn, needed only to get OFA and piss off All-Might he accepted and embraced it as something unimportant. It was his choice and he was free to do it and not feel bad about it. Since he's born to destroy.
Until suddenly it wasn't just his life after Decay that was manipulated.
But his whole life from birth. Just because AFO didn't get his hands on Hana sooner and she was happy while AFO needed someone hurt and broken. And Shimura's household wasn't as bad as he needed it to be at first with Kotaro loving his children, wife, in-laws and even his mother.
Tumblr media
And AFO destroyed it by creating so much conflict and even going out of his way to make sure Tenko's father knew that he was playing heroes with some kids. And even saved them by putting his own quirkless life in danger.
In some sense narrator-Tomura's words at the end of ch 236 still might hold true. AFO didn't just create his hate out of nowhere, to make it feel like even if Tenko remembers everything it's still he's doing not a villain appearing, not just some accident that it actually was.
Although AFO doesn't say anything about people who didn't help Tenko even though he he knew that it happened so he most probably was watching it happen until Tenko lost all hope entirely to finaly make him dependent on his help.
And he succeeded for the most part.
Tomura was making an assumption after he remembered everything that he "must've been yearning for that" and from that point onwards explains everything that happened as "I wanted it - I did it" and was clinging to it like a lifeline to explain everything.
He accepted that if Re-Destro is talking about his Decay quirk affecting him he exists only to destroy.
Tumblr media
And now it seems he found a false motivation for himself that AFO created by cruely manipulating everything from his quirk to his family. Making him believe he had a hand in it. Breaking one of "safe" truths that Tomura never doubted. They only made his decisions feel right.
Which makes that a hopeless loop of broken memories being staged just to let Tenko become Tomura who hates and destroys everything believing that it's his choice. Only choice at that.
And if destroying is him only choice because of his quirk... then what can a quirkless person do while having so many people dead from his own hands? Hands that were literally cursed to have destruction quirk in them not because he was born to do it. But because his own Sensei wanted that.
And he's "unwavering heart" is now nothing but an illusion that was destroyed by both Izuku and AFO together.
Tumblr media
There's no "Can I be a Hero?", because can he even be a Villain if most of the choices that were from Decay and the hatred in his heart weren't actually his own?

Your quirk has always been a nightmare, because, who would want to be unlucky since they're 4 years old? Exactly.
You can't really blame your parents since your father had the luck power, but your mother had none.
You've been involved in all kinds of dangerous situations such as fires, demolished buildings, assaults, etc.
But since you got to highschool it seemed it somehow worsened.
Your first fifteen years of life were spent under strict restrictions for your safety and the ones around you. Now on highschool, when you're parents had sadly died in an accident which curiously you were in too, you had been getting a minimum of 3 accidents in a spawn of two days.
Your depression may have something to do with it, but you couldn't really control your feelings as hard as you've been trying going to therapies and doing everything everyone's been recomending you to do.
All you've ever wanted was peace. To do not have to worry about what could ever possible happen to you in an hour or even in thirty minutes. But as you've tried, you've failed.
Now you were infront of this disaster.
A kid had accidentaly activated their fire quirk on a fucking pile of paper inside a cellar which soon exploded. Why the fuck was a kid in a cellar? Suddenly activating their quirk? When the mother said they were the calmest creature in the world? That's what you'd like to know now wouldn't you? What were you doing in a bank?
Just trying to get the money your survived with for the rest of the month. But because of this incident you've gotten a burn in your arm and a second greeting from the new student heroes.
"Come on! Get out of here!". "This way everyone!".
You heard them shout to the scared civilians to reach out of the place. As you passed by them and grabbed a blue-haired man's hand to step firmly, they smiled calmly to show support and reassurance. It wasn't really helpful, atleast not for you.
As little comforting it was, you didn't really wanted to keep on looking at them in real life as it meant you were on trouble once again. As consequence of your power, of course.
"MOVE ALREADY!". You heard a blonde hero shout, seemingly desperate by your indifferent reaction and uncooperative behaviour. That's when you realized you've been staring at him maybe 2 minutes which was a great distraction for the speed everyone needed to be evacuating from the building.
Still, you felt you've seen him. Must have been on that bycicle incident last week? Or in the robbery at the jewelry that you just so happened to be passing by some days ago...
"Whatever". You just wanted to get home and rest.
When were you going to be able to trully rest?

Despite the fact that the narrative seems to want to forget this happened, I won’t. Regardless of what Horikoshi thinks of this line now, it is in the text of the very first chapter and should have been addressed as part of B*kugou’s atonement arc.
It’s one thing for him to say Izuku couldn’t be a hero. At least, he was hardly the only person saying that or making fun of Izuku’s dreams. But he was the only person who pretty much outright said he didn’t deserve to be alive without a quirk. And that’s repulsive.
On the other hand, what the explosion child is saying here seems like the quiet part out loud about their society’s view on the quirkless and I wish that was explored more in canon

Wild Hearts: Chapter 1
Summary: It’s been 6 years since Katsuki Bakugou walked out on you and your hometown without an explanation. 6 long years of humiliation and heartbreak. So what happens when he walks back into your life asking for a favor? You know he’s not good for you, but what if your heart doesn’t?
Genre: angst, eventual smut, hurt, comfort, pining, slow burn, MDNI
CW: language, smoking, threats
Word Count: 826
A/N: I know it’s short and still pretty slow, but I promise we’ll pick up pretty quickly!!
Tumblr media
Desperate to stay asleep and immersed in his childhood memories, Bakugou fought against waking, trying to block out the sounds of the horses nickering and the leaves rustling in the tree above.
As he turned over, stalks of grass pricked his cheek, their earthy smell replacing the ghosts of those in his dream, dew wetting his skin.
With a resigned sigh, he sat up, lifting his hat off the worn saddle he'd been using as a pillow and placing it on his head as he stretched with a groan, heaving himself to his feet.
He glanced around at their small camp, not surprised to see everyone else's saddles rolled and ready to go, except Mina's, who still slept peacefully, only the slightest bit of her bright hair poking out from under the blanket.
"Good to see you're up, Bakugou. I was beginning to think Mina would wake before you," Denki commented at the sight of the larger blonde, raising an eyebrow as he took a sip from his canteen.
"I was in the middle of a dream. Something wrong?" Bakugo grunted a reply as he buckled his gun belt around his hips.
Denki sighed, running a hand haphazardly through his blonde hair before replacing his hat. "Kinda. We don't have an in at Rose Creek anymore."
Bakugo's gaze shot up at the blonde man's words, confusion clouding his features. "The fuck are you talking about? What happened to the deal with Mineta?" he snapped.
"Creepy little idiot finally got himself shot and killed. It's not like he was a reliable source anyways," Kiri's voice cut into the conversation, and Bakugo twisted to scowl at the redhead as he groomed his horse.
"I fucking know that, But I didn't realize we had to like 'em to use 'em. If you wanna be the one to make contacts all the time, be my guest." he invited sarcastically, to which Kiri only chuckled, holding up his hands in surrender.
"We need someone to go in and get us new information. I refuse to walk in blind and risk dying before the fight has even begun, especially with this lot," Sero chimed in from where he lay, leaning against a log. "We've agreed it can't be any of us. Tomura's gonna keep an extra close eye if he gets wind of our whereabouts, and it's not like any of us can just waltz into town anyways. We can't hire anyone; It'd be too risky." As Bakugou's thoughts drifted back to his dream, the others nodded in agreement.
"How far are we from Palestone again?" he asked suddenly, lighting a cigarette as Kiri glanced at him curiously. "About two days ride. One if you don't stop. What're you thinking?" he asked.
Bakugo shrugged, looking down at his boots. "Might know someone. She'll need a little convincing," he admitted, his cigarette hanging from his lips as he spoke.
"How much convincing? We don't got that much time," Mina spoke up as she yawned and stretched, peering up at the three men. Bakugou glanced at her but ignored her statement, his full attention on Kiri.
"We can spare four days. Three to travel there and back, one to convince her," he decided, and Denki studied him for a moment, sharing a knowing look with Kiri.
"Is this that girl you talked on and on and on about that time you got so drunk you were convinced you could--," he began, and Bakugo whirled on him, eyes narrowed in warning.
"If you don't want me to loosen your cinch next time we ride out, I wouldn't finish that sentence," he growled, and Sero snickered at Denki's grumbling reply.
"So that would be a yes," Kiri chuckled, settling next to Sero on the ground.
"Why the hell not? If she cares about you half as much as you pretend you don't care about her, it's worth a shot," he grinned, ignoring the glare Bakugou shot him.
"Shut the hell up. It's not like that. She's an old friend." he snapped, stamping his cigarette with his heel before tacking and mounting his horse. He hesitated before swinging himself into his saddle, wondering for a second if he really did have motives other than getting the job done.
"Whatever you say, I don't talk about my friends like you talk about her," Kiri shrugged, shaking out a match, a fresh cigarette hanging from his lips.
Bakugou shook off his doubts with a growl at his friend's words, gathering his reins as he settled into his saddle and squeezed his heels around his horse, clucking softly to him.
Mina twisted around to watch him as Bakugo trotted off, shielding her eyes from the sun. "We can always find someone else if you can't convince her!" she called out.
Bakugo heard her and waved in response, but the pressure building in his chest prevented him from answering. He had no plans to fail to convince you.
Not this time.

Masterpost
Shinsou is eleven when he gets picked up by the foster system again. Luckily, Kei wasn’t with him, but they caught him digging through some trash and brought him into a police station. They left him in a cold room by himself for hours. When the door opens again, two people come in, but neither of them look like cops. There’s a bright yellow one, wearing a leather jacket but with a bright smile and blonde hair, and a darker one, slightly shorter wearing all black to match his hair. They take the seats across from him.
“Hey, there! I’m Yamada Hizashi.” The yellow one speaks. “This Aizawa Shouta. We work with the police a lot. Our friend, the guy who brought you in here, noticed that you have some scars, the ones on your face. He was hoping you would tell me about them.”
He does. He tells them about the terrible foster homes, how he left because the streets had to be better. He tells them about how he’s struggled ever since his quirk came in, how he found food while homeless, how he found shelter, and even how the cop ended up finding him.
He leaves with them later, to what he doesn’t know is going to be the best home he’s ever lived. Those people end up his dads and he tells them everything about himself. But he never mentions that girl that he knew. He keeps her a secret, keeps his promise never to tell anyone about her, or her quirk. Until five years later, when she puts herself on the line for him, and he breaks his promise in return.

Shinsou tells them how he’s going to meet up with you again this Sunday. Aizawa’s back stiffens but shows no other reactions. Yamada beams, “isn’t that adorable! It’s so rare to hear you talking about dates!”
Shinsou chokes on the piece of potato he was about to swallow at Yamada’s choice of words. Eri hands him his glass of water with an innocent smile but when he looks at her to thank her, she smiles mischievously, gleeful that her brother’s now the child whose love life their dads are obsessing over. He sighs and rubs the space between his eyebrows, “I’m not sure what it is yet, but calling it a date might be far-fetched.”
Aizawa grunts and takes his glass of water to his lips, “that may also be for the better.”
Now everyone’s looking at him. There’re different stages of confusion to be read in every family member’s face; Yamada’s being the most prominent one. Shinsou almost looks disgusted at the uncalled for comment.
“Why?” Yamada inquires, confused and unsure about what could’ve warranted such a response from his husband. Aizawa remains unfazed as he puts the glass back down, “it can be tricky to date such a big and devoted fan.”
“Aaah.” Eri lets out, performatively giving her father the feeling of being understood, though she hardly sees the issue either. From her point of view, the fact that her anti-social big brother is going out to do stuff besides a few beers occasionally, is a pretty amazing development.
“Huh?” Yamada says, nose scrunching up. Shinsou holds back a snort before he calmly replies, “I never thought you’d be the type of person to oppose that kind of thing.” Aizawa lifts his eyes only to look at his son sitting across from of him at the table, “and why is that?”
“Because you adopted one.”
This makes poor Eri, who was on her way to take a sip of water, spit the water back down the glass. Yamada howls out a laugh with his head thrown back. Aizawa’s eyes widens for a moment, surprised by the answer before he looks back down to his plate.
“There’s a big difference. I was an adult when I took in you two.”
Shinsou’s argument is not wrong and Aizawa knows it. Shinsou had, before even meeting his soon-to-be mentor, owned more Eraser Head merchandise than anyone else and even owned things Aizawa didn’t even know had been produced in his hero name. Shinsou had later confessed to having made it himself.
“Which is arguably a much bigger deal, isn’t it? Also you were about the same age as I am now.”
This actually seems to stump Aizawa, the comment about age. Shinsou hadn’t foreseen that to become a winning argument. Yamada wipes a stray tear from laughing before he squeezes Aizawa’s shoulder affectionately, “dear, you and I both know that Hitoshi’s a great judge of character so I hardly believe that we need to”-he stops to let out another laugh and looks at Shinsou-“God I’ve missed listening to you two bicker, I swear. You got that humor from me!”
Shinsou shakes his head and laughs, before scraping up the last of the curry from his plate, avoiding the carrots purposely. He clears his throat, “a-anyway. It’s not like we’re dating… I’m sure most of their interest in me is in my work and my persona, y’know? So there’s hardly any need for concern.”
