"To say that Thomas Boleyn and his children after him set out to be courtiers is, therefore, to say a great deal; they were taking the road to power, prestige and profit. Whether it was the road of honour is a different question, and most historians have felt that Anne's father personified all that was bad about the court. P.W. Sergeant's verdict that 'it is clearly hopeless to attempt a defence of Sir Thomas' may seem totally justified in case of a man who, on his way to an earldom, slipped, or appears to have slipped, two daughters in succession into the king's bed. Friedmann's judgement, 'mean and grasping', is certainly correct." Ives, E. 2004. The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn: 'The Most Happy'

Mary Boleyn
@everly_fantasyfestival is over and i deputed my cosplay of Mary Boleyn from the movie The Other Boleyn Girl
I worked so hard on this costume
Like really hard
But i think it paid off
I am SO proud of this costume
So proud of the sewing, the patterns, the technique, the beading you name it
And i am so happy by all the people that came to me and asked for photos or chat with me
You made my day!
I cant believe how many people complimented my work
I am so greatful!
I hope you like these first photos
They look like movie posters and i love the fact that the main view is my beading work and my Rosario!
I hope you like it too!❤️

“Anne Boleyn was rather tall of stature, with black hair, and an oval face of a sallow complexion as if troubled with jaundice. She had a projecting tooth under the upper lip, and on her right hand six fingers. There was a large wen under her chin, and therefore to hide its ugliness she wore a high dress covering her throat. In this she was followed by the ladies of the court, who also wore high dresses, having before been in the habit of leaving their necks and the upper portion of their persons uncovered. She was handsome to look at, with a pretty mouth, amusing in her ways, playing well on the lute, and was a good dancer.”

Anne Boleyn Religious Reform [2023] Inspired by Dua Lipa in the vintage Chanel white ball gown she wore during the Met Gala. The rosaries dangling from Anne’s arms represents her hold over Henry and the break with the Catholic Church. More places to follow my art 🌙

The Queens of Six in Star Wars:
Katherine, holding a lightsaber: I wish we had these back in our day!
Anne: I know right? Our beheadings would've been so much cooler!

"It was probably William Cornish who produced the pageant and played the role of Ardent Desire: Hall makes it very clear that it was not the King. This was Cornish’s last major pageant: he died in 1523, and was succeeded as deviser of court revels by John Rightwise, who continued in the same tradition. Rightwise, a clever Latinist, succeeded William Lily that same year as High Master of St. Paul’s School. Mary Tudor, Duchess of Suffolk, led the dancers as Beauty; the Countess of Devon played the role of Honour; Mary Boleyn was Kindness; Jane Parker, the daughter of Lord Morley and shortly to be betrothed to Mary’s brother George Boleyn, was Constancy; and Anne Boleyn, Mary’s younger sister, recently recalled from the French court because of the deteriorating political situation, was Perseverence. Anne Boleyn was just embarking on her spectacular but ultimately disastrous career, and this was her public debut at the English court. Born around 1501, she had spent her formative years first at the brilliant court of Margaret of Austria, then in the household of Mary Tudor during her brief reign as Queen of France, and later as a maid of honour to the pious Queen Claude. At the Burgundian and French courts, Anne had gained a fine education and learned every sophisticated accomplishment and on her return to England, her father—or possibly her sister’s influence—was able to secure her a place in Queen Katherine’s household. Anne stood out among the ladies at the English court because she was so French in her manners and style of dress, and therefore at the forefront of fashion. Anne was then about twenty-one, rather old to be unmarried. For two years now, her father had been negotiating to wed her to Sir James Butler, heir to the Earl of Ormonde, to settle a dispute over the Ormonde inheritance; but the matter was dropped for reasons that are not clear. Thanks not only to Sir Thomas Boleyn’s talents as a diplomat and courtier, but also no doubt to his daughter Mary’s occasional occupancy of the royal bed, the Boleyns were in the ascendant and becoming very influential." - Alison Weir, The king and his court.

From ancient times through to the modern era history is full of legendary leaders. But the female leaders are too often overlooked. Here are 8 might queens from history.

notes from six broadway 9/8/23
- khaila!aragon winked at me a few times and waved at me
- nasia!cleves also interacted with me a lot, including dancing with me during her part of the megasix
- taylor!parr almost fell over during the end of no way but caught herself before fully falling
- aubrey!seymour was very childlike. like she sounded like a little kid who would’ve made all 4 chairs turn on the voice. very much that like young singing competition contestant voice. also their yelling at aragon during “aw boo hoo little baby mary had the chicken pox…” was giving temper tantrum. btw I mean this as a compliment, he’s very talented.
- khaila!aragon and leandra!boleyn had such fun and low-key flirty interactions
- zoe!howard seemed a little out of it, I hope she’s okay
- leandra!boleyn kept doing this “hehehehe” laugh thing that was really funny
- aubrey!seymour did a little mocking curtsy with the skirt of their dress during the bit before parr’s monologue
- khaila!aragon had really good comedic timing and made me laugh on lines I had never laughed at before. her aragon had like slight anger issues so she yelled at a lot of the other queens then like took a moment to collect herself each time she did it
- like in general a lot of the queens got excited when they looked down and saw me (I did an aragon inspired outfit with a six opening night mask and both were very noticeable)
