Favourite painter: Oh, this is a tough one. I'm drawn to works from artists like Monet, Botticelli, Andrew Wyeth, Mucha, Van Gogh, Michelangelo. I'm all over the place. I'm not even going to try to list fandom artists. There are too many and I don't want to risk leaving anyone out.

Favourite writer: Again, more than one. Just off the top of my head: Stephen King, Justin Cronin, Chuck Windig, George R.R. Martin, Gillian Flynn. Generally writers who are really good at creating memorable characters who straddle the line dividing good and evil. As George put it so eloquently, stories that explore the human heart in conflict with itself. Bowing out on fanfic writers here, too. There are too many to list.

Favourite band: Now and for the last decade, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.

Favourite meal and drink: At this point in my life any food that anyone other than me cooks and sets in front of me. But I do enjoy farm to table that's not too fussy or complicated. Keep it simple and clean and flavorful. Add a glass of semi-dry wine and I'm good to go.

Favourite outfit aesthetic: I don't know that I have one. If I must be pinned down I'll go with boho/hippie. There's nothing I love more than simple blue jeans or leggings with a t-shirt or flowy blouse. But I refuse to wear dresses unless it's a wedding or a funeral. I don't have legs one would want to show off. Genetics gifted me with, as my mom once put it, "peasant legs". Also the 14 inch scar on my left leg from numerous surgeries isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I prefer to keep it covered.

Favourite singer: Another one I can't cull to just one. Jason Isbell, Van Morrison, Bob Seger, Beth Hart, Amos Lee, Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer, Stevie Nicks, Joy Oladakun. That's just a start. Unique voices, I guess.

Favourite item I own: Well, those of us who have pets are often referred to as pet *owners*, right? So I'll go with Levon the Cat, though I'm pretty sure he owns me and not the other way around.

Favourite possession: My carefully curated fandom items. Mostly my collection of BATB fanzines and TXF memorabilia. All of those, as well as the things I've been bequeathed or were given to me by family members/friends who are no longer with us. Knick-knacks, art and pieces of antique furniture from my mom and oldest brother; an unreleased album of songs written and performed by my bestest friend in the world - all of which were written with me serving as muse. Other things that I don't like to think about too much because it's painful. But all of them cherished.

Favourite perfume: Black Opium. It smells like all my favorite scents combined.

I have been procrastinating on posting this for ages now but anyways, here are my Rottmnt fankids!:

Cat and Sandro are twins and they were adopted by Raph. Gio was adopted at age 2 by Leo. Yes, Raph and Leo decided to continue the Renaissance artist name trend, yes they are color coded (CYMK but minus the K), and yes, they have mystic powers/Hamato Ninpo. Let me give you a rundown of each character (this is gonna be long imma divide it into 3 parts)

(Part 2: Cat, Part 3: Gio)

Sandro

Before I get into Sandro’s personality, I’m going to begin by explaining the twin’s backstory. Basically, Raph was considering adoption around the same time one of April’s friends accidentally got pregnant. He offered to adopt the baby, not expecting it to be babies plural. The twins are half Japanese and half Jamaican (I was definitely influenced by the blasian human turtle designs)

Sandro is 9 years old and is named after Sandro Botticelli. His signature color is magenta and he is definitely one of the smartest kids in 4th grade. All three kids are actually really smart like seriously, they were all homeschooled by Donnie for the first 8 years of their life. And that doesn’t even count what Leo Mikey and Raph taught them.

Sandro is autistic like Raph and Donnie and is a huge literary nerd (I’m self projecting here) and has a ridiculously large book collection. Raph encourages his love for reading as much as possible. He loves his alone time and is introverted but if you ask him about one of his hyperfixations he will infodump for hours. He is on the high empathy side of the spectrum and loves his family to the death. He’s very peaceful but he is not above punching someone if they hurt his family.

When he and Cat were about seven, the begged Raph for weeks on end to teach them to become ninjas. They thought their dad and uncles had the coolest job ever and wanted to copy them. Raph wanted to train them but he was terrified of hurting his kids so he refused at first. The puppy eyes won in the end. They ended up having a blast training together. Sandro uses a bladed staff like the one Cassandra uses in the season finale:

Except his isn’t bent. Sandro also knows how to use tonfas and a bo staff.

Now I mentioned earlier that the kids have Hamato Ninpo despite being adopted and they got mystic powers along with it. Sandro got invisibility. He just claps his hands and he disappears. You should have seen Raph’s face when he did it for the first time. Splinter constantly teases the turtles that their 9 year old nephew/son is better at stealth than them. Sandro usually uses his powers when he wants to get out of uncomfortable social situations (I can relate)

When you mentioned Aveline as Rat's lawyer (although I don't know, because she defends victims and Isa when she kidnapped K 😂) I realised they're in the same universe. Because I was thinking about Hannibal, but the only pets there are Luca's cats. And I'm sure Minerva don't want him near her 😂. She's a sassy lady. And Botticelli stills responds to his mother, although when he's now a 3 years old cat. So poor Hannibal 😔. He needs a time machine.

They do share the same universe, which is a super fun fact?? 😂 Unfortunately, poor little Hannibal has no other pet to be friends with, not even Luca's cats! But I definitely understand why our Queen Minerva wouldn't want him around.

That being said, Hannibal is a military K-9 dog and he's incredibly well-trained. If not allowed by Arthur, he would not even come near Luca's cats. For example, he would not have destroyed Tommy's garden. Also, he is not a very social dog in the sense he does not need plenty of friends as long as he has his owner since they are H24 together. Yet, this charming veteran would be more than happy to have at least one good fur fellow 😔

What’s your favorite period in art history, your favorite famous work and/or your favorite style of art?

so i don’t have one favorite famous work of art, but i absolutely LOVE 20th century oil painting portraits of rich people taken for no other reason than they can?? i must have like 20+ of them on my phone from museums over the years. but my favorite style of art is abstract expressionism, especially clyfford still, willem de kooning, and mark rothko

I feel like I’ve tricked you into thinking I’m more cultured than I am 😂 because I’m so all over the place when it comes to art, because it’s just like I know what I like when I see it?

Omg YES to the 20th Century oil paintings! Rich people just showing that they have money is always a favorite, I’ve seen one where it was a woman surrounded by like 17 fluffy cats and it’s seared in my brain! Love!

Hmm, if I had to pick a period it would probably be the Rococo period because as a maximalist it speaks to me, the playful opulence of it all! Like here is The Swing from Fragonard, I adore everything about it!

As for works I got to see the Primavera by Botticelli this summer and I literally did not want to leave the room. I love Monet’s Waterlilies, we have one at my art museum and it’s my favorite piece in the whole collection. I think the history behind The Three Witches of MacBeth is so fun because it’s literally about boss babes of the 1770s being boss babes.
