#Bourbon Barrel

Yew Dell Botanic Gardens - Crestwood KY ... good use of an empty bourbon barrel. Most likely from the Kentucky Artisan Distillery (Jefferson Bourbon) which is right next door to the gardens.

Modern Times Modem Tones Imperial Stout in Bourbon Barrels with Vanilla from the brewery. A 4 of 4. This is great, and not too crazy -- a pretty straight-ahead bourbon barrel-aged big stout. Tons of balance to it with lots of roast and coffee and chocolate, and a faint bit of vanilla behind it. Quite complex as this warms up a touch -- glad I managed to grab a few!

415 breweries in the state of Colorado. This one is a mere 20 miles away.
Yes, you’ve read that correctly…14.7% bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. Breckenridge Bourbon barrels for 12 months mind you.
This stuff is absolutely phenomenal, and at $25 a 4 pack (of 12oz cans) it better be.

Modern Times Decahex Imperial Stout (Picked up from the brewery itself). A 4 of 4. At 16.2%, this is huge (higher ABV than nearly all beers I've ever had), and it delivers what it promises in a pretty incredible package. Quite oily and has so much chocolate and oak throughout. The sweetness is well-checked by the ABV and some firm bitterness, but even at a sipping pace, this hits quite hard on the palate.

Pursuit Spirits Episode 23 15 Year Tennessee Whiskey (2020)
Review by: Wryan Dickel has its ups and downs. Mostly down according to a very large majority of the bourbon community. That reputation has dissuaded many from even trying their bourbon. Many do not enjoy that heavy minerality flavor that comes from the water or filtering process and it is a divisive flavor profile. I’ve listened to Bourbon Pursuit off and on for several years and when these…

Meanwhile, have another beer.
This time out on the patio. Yes, it is that time of year. Yes, it has some odd spices not typically found in ale. Yes, it only happens this time of year. Yes, it is 1000x better than those Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Yes, I usually buy this for The Wife™️. Yes, this is a local to me brewery (2.3 miles away). Yes I could probably walk there. No, I probably don’t want to. Although, they do have a different food truck every day.
