Why do you think they even put Hook foot on the caravan anyways? I understand Shorty for comic relief, but why Hook Foot? They may have wanted someone to balance out the two duos of Rapunzel and Cass and Eugene and Lance, or someone to fill the slot Ariana would’ve had on the caravan trip, but that didn’t have to be Hook Foot. And was Lance (and for that matter, Varian) even developed during the point where Ariana would’ve been on the trip? If not, that point may be moot. They may have wanted to put another guy on the team for when Lance was out of commission during the S1 premiere. But my personal opinion for why they chose Hook Foot specifically is that they really, really wanted to do both the Seraphina episode and the episode with Hook Hand, which afterwards Hook Foot no longer mattered to plot so he left. I think they wanted to bring back Hook Hand for an episode and have him and Hook Foot interact, and I guess they figured the best time for that was when they were on the road, but I can just imagine someone who worked on the show just really liking the concept of Hook Foot and a mermaid having a romantic thing going, and then they decide to make an actual episode about it, and that being the main reason they put him on the caravan 😂

So, fun fact from what I know about Hook Foot existing at all: They wanted it to be Hook Hand, but Brad Garret wanted them to pay him way more money/amenities to play him than they had the budget for, and they weren't going to get a sound-alike. Their general rule was: if the original cast can't be the character, that character won't be in it. Ultimately, they got Brad for one (1) episode, and I believe that was agreed upon much farther down the road, not when they first asked him to reprise the roll. In fact, there are early storyboards where Hook Hand is included, and Hook Foot is nowhere to be seen. (Unfortunately, I can't seem to find said storyboard at this time, or I'd show you.)

I have no idea why they ultimately decided not to include Arianna on the trip, but I think that was decided on well before they decided to include Hook Foot. So it's not a case of "instead," more a case of "they went in a different direction".

As for why Hoot Foot was included in season two at all, while I don't have any hard facts about this, I feel like it has something to do with making Eugene more serious during the season (especially towards the end), and so they needed comic relief to balance him out. They (and by "they" I mean "probably Ben Balistreri") seemed to really like the gag where his hook foot was used as a tool. And, yeah, probably also to balance out the traveling party, numbers-wise.

But primarily, I feel like it was because they wanted an excuse to have him not be at the wedding (I guess, even though Hook Hand ultimately was). Like, Hook Foot was the first of the cast to leave the party permanently. I think we're meant to assume that, between him joining Hook Hand on the road, and then not being at the wedding, that he either got his solo career and/or ultimately went off to be with Seraphina (like the end card implied, even though that was just one artist's personal desire). Either way, someone in the crew (again, probably Ben) really liked him enough to include him.

Like its title, the film is overlong, but it's hard to see how it could have been trimmed. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is a lingering, subtle meditation on the nature of celebrity set in an era long before the arrival of social media thrust celebrities into our daily lives. Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck give memorable performances in their respective title roles -- Affleck received a supporting actor Oscar nomination, although his role is surely larger than Pitt's -- and they're well supported by Sam Shepard as Frank James, Mary-Louise Parker in the thankless role of Jesse's wife, Sam Rockwell as Robert Ford's brother Charley, and Jeremy Renner, Garret Dillahunt, and Paul Schneider as various ill-fated members of the James gang. There's also a cameo by former Bill Clinton adviser James Carville as the governor of Missouri who precipitates the assassination. It was only the second feature directed by New Zealander Andrew Dominik, who wrote the screenplay based on a novel by Ron Hansen. There's a bit too much lyric profundity in the screenplay, as in the voiceover by the narrator (Hugh Ross), who tells us about Jesse James: "Rooms seemed hotter when he was in them. Rains fell straighter. Clocks slowed. Sounds were amplified." That's a hard description for any actor to live up to, but Pitt does a good job of it in one the best performances of his career. Since the title pretty much gives the plot away, the film wisely concentrates on exploring the characters of James and Ford, who meet when the latter joins the James gang for a train robbery in Blue Cut, Missouri. Ford has worshiped James since boyhood, and in one splendid scene James taunts and teases him into revealing the depths of his infatuation. Ford has memorized everything that could possibly link him to James: They both have brothers whose names contain six letters, for example. This is homoerotic hero-worship at its most intense -- and eventually, most deadly. The movie was filmed in Canada, with superb, Oscar-nominated cinematography by Roger Deakins. The score is by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, and Cave himself plays the saloon singer who taunts Ford with "The Ballad of Jesse James," which refers to "the dirty little coward who shot Mr. Howard" (James's pseudonym).

la (western animation though) based street fighter dub but all i can think of is:

-jesse mccartney or daryl sabara as abel. jesse mccartney would be good because he’s voiced a very similar character to abel, roxas, in kingdom hearts, and a voice similar to roxas in a role like abel would be genius. daryl sabara, meanwhile, has a naturally youthful voice that i LOVE (for example, his voice as rex in generator rex, arguably his voice acting “star making role”). and i GENUINELY, GENUINELY think he has the range to play a contemplative and quiet, but childish and innocent, character like abel as opposed to “typical action cartoon protagonist” boy like rex. it’s funny, because the protagonist of sfv, rashid, is VERY similar to rex i think, if you replace punk leifmotifs with dubstep leifmotifs.

-rob paulsen (yes, but in his jack fenton from danny phatnom voice, and i genuinely think he’d be able to sell that dan is silly but has aspects to him that are ABSOLUTELY depressing) as dan hibiki. though ideally i need to think of an asian, particularly mixed japanese/ethnic cantonese voice actor for dan, though i don’t know of much

-alyson stoner or hynden walch as seth. YES, alyson stoner. it’s a FAR step away from michael mcconnohie, who is a genuinely talented seth in his own right and HAS worked on western animation (such as transformers), but alyson stoner AND hynden walch could DEFINITELY sell the inherent brokenness seth feels inside while making seth sound childlike. like...innocent, but creepy. perhaps hynden walch as seth. and yes, in BOTH forms. because the contrast of hynden walch’s or alyson stoner’s voice with the very odd, android-like form sfiv seth has, and the more traditional type of characters both voice actresses have played as sfv seth. hynden walch i got the inspiration from remembering her performance as breach from generator rex and remembering...hey. she reminds me of seth! and alyson stoner, meanwhile, came from me thinking xion’s voice would be ideal for seth because the role xion plays in kingdom hearts 358/2 days is very similar to the role seth plays, especially with being seen as an “it” and not as the autonomous person they’d like to be seen as.

-wally kurth as guile. i’m surprised he doesn’t have more voice acting roles, because his acting as agent six is genuinely the best i’ve heard period. it would fit guile’s miliitary mindset while also establishing yes, he’s abel’s father figure (because wally kurth’s voice is ALSO very fatherly. god i need to watch generator rex again)

-grey griffin as juri. you know why (azula, and also the time she was on tumblr and voiced VRISKA).

-brad garret as hugo OR abigail. brad garret tends to be cast in a LOT of “dumb muscle” roles, and both hugo and abigail fit that trope to an extent (though abigail to a lesser one because he’s less dumb and more a street smart jock type). if the showrunner is going for the “creepy giant manchild with sympathetic aspects” often applied to hugo (typically by yoshinori ono or fanfiction authors who write final fight centric fanfiction), brad garret would be IDEAL for hugo because he can sell the “big threatening scary guy” thing while ALSO selling the fact he’s basically a manchild who’s being manipulated by the people around him to do bad things. meanwhile, with abigail, brad garret has a background in live action comedy, such as everybody loves raymond (which imo isn’t that funny but brad garret’s chemistry with the character of monica horan’s character was like...night and day with the rest of the cast, like he actually had genuinely positive and funny interactions with her when the rest of the humor was “husband hates wife and wife equally hates husband but won’t get a divorce”), and the particular vocal inflections he puts on as robert in particular would be funny for abigail because for example, some of the scenes where robert shouts in a humorous way or goes into a mumbling tone saying “EVVVVVERYBODY loves raymond” would be IDEAL for abigail, who’s a comedic character and a lot of his personality relies on his exaggerated vocal performance that his japanese voice actor (who i don’t remember the name of) and english voice actor xander mobus give him. can’t decide which i’d choose for either, but ideally i want brad garret to voice hugo because i want fred tatasciore, who frequently voices in comedic western action cartoons, to voice someone like abigail. though john cena could work as abigail, ngl. brad garret’s voice he puts on for lobo would work for abigail as well.

any other voice casting options from primarily western animation sources you’d like to suggest?
