This early-50s gem from producer George Pal features excellent special effects and unique plot elements for the time. Jeff has been an H.G. Wells fan since he was a tyke so it’s no surprise that The War of the Worlds is his pick. Even so, he was a bit put off the first time he saw it, wondering where the Martians’ tripods were. Once he got over that change in Wells’ story, he fell in love with the film, observing that many of the cast and crew tackled this endeavor early in their careers. He is especially impressed with Gene Barry’s performance.
Dave recounts his grandfather telling him about the Orson Welles adaptation of this story for radio and how this film version blew him away. The effects in The War of the Worlds are outstanding for the time and still amaze him. It looks so good when the Martian ships are destroying the city. Daphne also really loves The War of the Worlds and is really impressed with the color. She is also surprised when the darkness of society surfaces with the mob attacking the trucks. When he was a kid, The War of the Worlds was pretty creepy, scary stuff to Chad and kept him on the edge of his seat. The idea of a story with no superhero-type leading man and no hope in sight fascinated him.
If you’re as impressed with The War of the Worlds as your Grue-Crew, it’s high time you checked it out again. If you’ve managed to miss this true classic, it’s high time you filled that gap. At the time of this writing, The War of the Worlds is available to stream from Amazon Prime, Paramount+, and multiple other subscription or PPV streaming services. If physical media is your thing, a Blu-ray is available from Criterion.

New Post has been published on Website Design Naples Florida Webmaster
New Post has been published on https://vinbo.com/wordpress-5-4-adderley/
WordPress 5.4 “Adderley”
Tumblr media
Here it is! Named “Adderley” in honor of Nat Adderley, the latest and greatest version of WordPress is available for download or update in your dashboard.
Tumblr media
Say hello to more and better.
More ways to make your pages come alive. With easier ways to get it all done and looking better than ever—and boosts in speed you can feel.
Welcome to WordPress 5.4
Every major release adds more to the block editor.
More ways to make posts and pages come alive with your best images. More ways to bring your visitors in, and keep them engaged, with the richness of embedded media from the web’s top services.
More ways to make your vision real, and put blocks in the perfect place—even if a particular kind of block is new to you. More efficient processes.
And more speed everywhere, so as you build sections or galleries, or just type in a line of prose, you can feel how much faster your work flows.
Tumblr media
Two new blocks. And better blocks overall.
Two brand-new blocks: Social Icons and Buttons make adding interactive features fast and easy.
New ways with color: Gradients in the Buttons and Cover block, toolbar access to color options in Rich Text blocks, and for the first time, color options in the Group and Columns blocks.
Guess a whole lot less! Version 5.4 streamlines the whole process for placing and replacing multimedia in every block. Now it works the same way in almost every block!
And if you’ve ever thought your image in the Media+Text block should link to something else—perhaps a picture of a brochure should download that brochure as a document? Well, now it can.
Cleaner UI, clearer navigation—and easier tabbing!
Clearer block navigation with block breadcrumbs. And easier selection once you get there.
For when you need to navigate with the keyboard, better tabbing and focus. Plus, you can tab over to the sidebar of nearly any block.
Speed! 14% faster loading of the editor, 51% faster time-to-type!
Tips are gone. In their place, a Welcome Guide window you can bring up when you need it—and only when you need it—again and again.
Know at a glance whether you’re in a block’s Edit or Navigation mode. Or, if you have restricted vision, your screen reader will tell you which mode you’re in.
Of course, if you want to work with the very latest tools and features, install the Gutenberg plugin. You’ll get to be the first to use new and exciting features in the block editor before anyone else has seen them!
Tumblr media
Your fundamental right: privacy
5.4 helps with a variety of privacy issues around the world. So when users and stakeholders ask about regulatory compliance, or how your team handles user data, the answers should be a lot easier to get right.
Take a look:
Now personal data exports include users session information and users location data from the community events widget. Plus, a table of contents!
See progress as you process export and erasure requests through the privacy tools.
Plus, little enhancements throughout give the privacy tools a little cleaner look. Your eyes will thank you!
Tumblr media
Just for developers
Add custom fields to menu items—natively
Two new actions let you add custom fields to menu items—without a plugin and without writing custom walkers.
On the Menus admin screen, wp_nav_menu_item_custom_fields fires just before the move buttons of a nav menu item in the menu editor.
In the Customizer, wp_nav_menu_item_custom_fields_customize_template fires at the end of the menu-items form-fields template.
Check your code and see where these new actions can replace your custom code, and if you’re concerned about duplication, add a check for the WordPress version.
Blocks! Simpler styling, new APIs and embeds
Radically simpler block styling. Negative margins and default padding are gone! Now you can style blocks the way you need them. And, a refactor got rid of four redundant wrapper divs.
If you build plugins, now you can register collections of your blocks by namespace across categories—a great way to get more brand visibility.
Let users do more with two new APIs: block variations and gradients.
In embeds, now the block editor supports TikTok—and CollegeHumor is gone.
There’s lots more for developers to love in WordPress 5.4. To discover more and learn how to make these changes shine on your sites, themes, plugins and more, check the WordPress 5.4 Field Guide.

Imran Awan, a House staffer at the center of a criminal investigation potentially affecting dozens of Democratic lawmakers, has been arrested on a bank fraud charge and is prevented from leaving the country while the charge is pending.
A senior House Democratic aide confirmed Awan was still employed by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) as of Tuesday morning. But David Damron, a spokesman for Wasserman Schultz, later said that Awan was fired on Tuesday.
Awan pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to one count of bank fraud during his arraignment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Awan is accused of attempting to defraud the Congressional Federal Credit Union by obtaining a $165,000 home equity loan for a rental property, which is against the credit union’s policies since it is not the owner’s primary residence. Those funds were then included as part of a wire transfer to two individuals in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Awan was arrested Monday evening at Dulles International Airport in Virginia before boarding a flight to Lahore, Pakistan. His wife, Hina Alvi, had earlier left the country for Pakistan, along with their children. Federal agents do not believe Alvi has any intention of returning to the U.S., according to a court document.
Awan was released Tuesday on a “high-intensity supervision program,” according to a DOJ spokesman. He must wear a GPS monitor, abide by a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and cannot leave a 50-mile radius of his Lorton, Virginia, home. He was also forced to surrender his passports and is scheduled to reappear in court for a preliminary hearing Aug. 21.
“This is clearly a right-wing media-driven prosecution by a United States Attorney’s Office that wants to prosecute people for working while Muslim,” Chris Gowen, Awan’s attorney, said in an email declaring his client’s innocence.
“A quick glance at what the government filed in court today confirms the lack of evidence or proof they have against my client.”
Awan, a longtime IT staffer who worked for more than two dozen House Democrats, has been at the center of a criminal investigation on Capitol Hill for months related to procurement theft. Several of his family members, also IT staffers at the time, were implicated in the ongoing investigation.
Most Democratic lawmakers cut ties with Awan and his family after the criminal investigation came to light in early February. But Awan continued to be employed by Wasserman Schultz, although it’s unclear what his job duties were, given he had been barred from accessing the House IT system for months.
Alvi, another House staff member involved in the Capitol Hill investigation, left the country with their three daughters, headed for Pakistan, in March, according to an affidavit filed in the Awan case. Alvi had “numerous pieces of luggage” and more than $12,000 in cash, FBI agent Brandon Merriman wrote in the affidavit.

Court continues to cover-up Pelosi's spy ring
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), to the right, with Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).
Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman Schultz got away with it.
Reaffirmed in another federal court case this morning in the District of Columbia.
Pelosi is Speaker of the House and fourth in line to the Presidency.
Wasserman Schultz is former campaign manager for Hillary Clinton.
A spy ring in Congress.
Some would call it a “A Muslim IT Spy Ring in Congress”.
Still going strong after 16-years.
No arrests for selling American patents, technology, weapons, and other intellectual property to the highest bidder.
https://brassballs.blog/home/patents-remain-unprotected-says-inspector-general
Filtered through Pakistan from Capitol Hill servers.
Two of them.
One for the House.
The other for the Senate.
The Awans were federal workers with top secret clearance to Congress' computer systems since 2004.
Hina Alvi and her husband, Imran Awan (above)
They configured phones for 45 Congress people and their staff.
With phones that were programmed to be undetectable by the FBI.
NSA.
Or anyone else unless they had a phone linking to the Pelosi secure phone system.
The Awans were hired by Pelosi and Wasserman Schultz.

Based on today’s hearing in D.C. Federal Court, neither the Judge or Prosecutor will expose Pelosi’s Spy Ring.
As officers of the court, they have a duty to report it.
Judge Amit Mehta granted another delay.
The federal prosecutor’s excuse this time was they “needed more time”.
To produce public records.
As if a year is insufficient.
The lawsuit was filed Nov. 7th, 2018.
James Peterson is the prosecutor.
He is top gun in the Justice Department’s Capital Case Section.
https://www.justice.gov/criminal/capital-case-section
It specializes in crimes committed on Capitol Hill.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdmo/pr/federal-prosecutor-recognized-national-award
Who hires the Capitol Police?
Nancy Pelosi.
Peterson was hired by former Judge and Attorney General Eric Holder.
Holder was impeached and removed from his position by Congress.
He lied about “Fast and Furious”.
It was a federal program that gave guns to Mexican drug cartels.
The guns were traced to 234 deaths in the U.S. and Mexico.
It has been over a year since the request for public records was made on Nov. 17th, 2018.
Guess who else works as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C.?
Steven Wasserman.
His sister is Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).
The Prosecutor let it slip.
Hina Alvi “wanted to expunge her conviction in order for her to be able to get employment”, said Peterson.
It was reported by John O’Laughlin, a lawyer.
John’s video below was taped minutes after this morning hearing.
Alvi is Hina Alvi, Imran Awan’s wife.
Imran Awan pled guilty to a felony.
Bank fraud.
He admitted falsifying a mortgage application from the Capitol Employee Credit Union.
The FBI allowed his wife to escape to Pakistan.
With millions.
At Imran Awan’s sentencing, FBI agent Brandon C. Merriman said:
Awan's wife and three children have left the country "with no intentions of returning".
https://brassballs.blog/home/imran-awan-and-wife-hina-alvi-to-accept-plea-deal-on-july-3rd
Please fast forward to minute three
“It is going to be a job to protect the defendant’s rights against the public’s right to know”, said Peterson.
Say what?
Protect Alvi’s rights in Pakistan?
Or maybe she and her husband never left the country?
Peterson lied.
First, Hina Alvi never pleaded or was found guilty of anything.
Next lie.
What record to expunge?
None exists.
Trial Judge Tonya Chutkan ordered the records of the Awan case destroyed.
Chutkan ruled the same way in the Mariia Butina case.
Butina pled guilty to being a Russian spy.

Another group of 45 persons in Congress will be listed as soon as it can be verified.
A summary of today’s public information request is spliced into these four images:
Judicial Watch’s request for records dates back to January, 2015.
Imran Awan entered this country from Pakistan in 1992.
He helped set up Pelosi’s Congressional Spy Ring in 2004.
Who will tell Judicial Watch to amend its complaint?
Office of Inter-American Affairs (OIAA)
https://www.archives.gov/research/guide-fed-records/groups/229.html
Besides John O’Laughlin, only one other person was there at this morning’s hearing.
He reported that “nothing happened”.
That’s news?

This is what it feels like to get TTMs again. We had a little baby girl 3 months back, so I took a little break from sending out requests. New Post has been published on Website Design Naples Florida Webmaster
New Post has been published on https://vinbo.com/wordpress-5-1-betty-2/
WordPress 5.1 “Betty”
A Little Better Every Day
Version 5.1 of WordPress, named “Betty” in honour of acclaimed jazz vocalist Betty Carter, is available for download or update in your WordPress dashboard.
Following WordPress 5.0 — a major release which introduced the new block editor — 5.1 focuses on polish, in particular by improving the overall performance of the editor. In addition, this release paves the way for a better, faster, and more secure WordPress with some essential tools for site administrators and developers.
Site Health
With security and speed in mind, this release introduces WordPress’s first Site Health features. WordPress will start showing notices to administrators of sites that run long-outdated versions of PHP, which is the programming language that powers WordPress.
When you install new plugins, WordPress’s Site Health features will check them against the version of PHP you’re running. If the plugin requires a version that won’t work with your site, WordPress will keep you from installing that plugin.
Editor Performance
Introduced in WordPress 5.0, the new block editor continues to improve. Most significantly, WordPress 5.1 includes solid performance improvements within the editor. The editor should feel a little quicker to start, and typing should feel smoother.
Expect more performance improvements in the next couple of releases.
Developer Happiness
Multisite Metadata
5.1 introduces a new database table to store metadata associated with sites and allows for the storage of arbitrary site data relevant in a multisite / network context.
Cron API
The Cron API has been updated with new functions to assist with returning data and includes new filters for modifying cron storage. Other changes in behavior affect cron spawning on servers running FastCGI and PHP-FPM versions 7.0.16 and above.
New JS Build Processes
WordPress 5.1 features a new JavaScript build option, following the large reorganisation of code that started in the 5.0 release.
Other Developer Goodness
Miscellaneous improvements include:
Updates to values for the WP_DEBUG_LOG constant
New test config file constant in the test suite, new plugin action hooks
Short-circuit filters for wp_unique_post_slug(), WP_User_Query, and count_users()
A new human_readable_duration function
Improved taxonomy metabox sanitization
Limited LIKE support for meta keys when using WP_Meta_Query
A new “doing it wrong” notice when registering REST API endpoints
…and more!
The Squad
This release was led by Matt Mullenweg, along with Gary Pendergast as Senior Code Reshuffler and Poet. They received wonderful assistance from the following 561 contributors for this release, 231 of whom were making their first ever contribution! Pull up some Betty Carter on your music service of choice, and check out some of their profiles:
