#Bridgewater pod
Text
Once again, I find myself on Friday night (really Saturday morning) sitting in the dark with headphones on to listen to the new Bridgewater episode (Chapter 14). As always, amazed by the talent and the writing...but also fully counting down to the next episode.
Spoilers below:
Love that it starts with Jeremy on the phone with his boss...and the false claim that yeah he’s got this and he can have some chapters written...
Aww Katie. I’d actually forgotten about her.
Their convo was interesting though to really get at what she knew and what part she played...but also the info on that new Gathering leader...curious.
Is the chapter leader the same person as The Legend Tripper? Or would that be too obvious...
Lol at Vipin and Olivia going shopping with Thomas and really just getting him a whole make-over. Also Thomas putting on a sweater and immediately looking just like Jeremy!
And it’s crazy that he’s only 8 years older than Olivia! That’s wild.
Also can Vipin and Olivia start dating yet?
Vipin backstory! I love his early obssession with religions, all of that entirely makes sense for who he is and what he’s devoted his studies to.
Jeremy, I feel for you. He’s going through it and I actually appreciated that this episode keeps Jeremy and Thomas from interacting a lot. It gives him the space to really freak out a bit more openly, I think.
Also I have to appreciate how open to talking to Anne, Jeremy is. They have such a bond over going through this together that encompasses all the prior stuff and I love that so much. Their relationship is everything.
The conflict with Jeremy wanting to take some time because he just got his dad back...and the fear of what might happen and how there is no guarantee that he will keep him especially if they don’t leave things well alone in order to save that kid.
“Sweetie, you’re spiraling” -- yes Anne, yes he is.
Anne saying she would give up anything so Jeremy (and Shelly) can get time with their dad. :(
“We can afford to do some outsourcing” - if only Jeremy.
The convo about Fairies is so interesting in combination with Thomas being really impressed and probably confused.
Vipin still looking for a reasonable explanation though! The whole there have to be rules thing.
Jeremy having both a personal crisis...but also feeling like he’s a fraud with his job. Ouch.
The house literally shaking might be some big “you can’t ignore things” sign Jeremy. You’re already in it. As much as you may not like it, things will just keep happening.
Olivia, in what world was that a good idea? This is gonna make it so much worse.
Shelly fully believing her daughter was getting scammed -- can’t blame her and I don’t see how they’ll get her to believe it. Also she’s channeling Anne so much.
So curious about the quiet...
So we’re fully leaning into Jeremy’s fear of losing Thomas by having him pass out??

Looking for media recommendations for small-town supernatural mysteries
Lately I've been wanting more stories set in a little rural town with dark secrets hidden under the surface. I'm down for literally any medium except a movie. TV show, webcomic, audiodrama, actual play, videogame, whatever. Here's some examples which I have watched/read/listened to for reference. Bolded are ones I really liked and are exactly what I'm looking for.
TV Shows: Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, Stranger Things
Audiodramas: Harbor, Unwell: A Midwest Gothic Mystery, Bridgewater, Where the Stars Fell, My Town
Videogames: Beacon Pines, Night in the Woods

100 Days of Productivity [72/100]
🌿07/11/23🌿
Good news is I’m already over 600 words into the essay (holy shit I forgot how hard it was to start an essay I legit spent 30 minutes staring at the empty word) bad news is I don’t want this course to end 😩 I legit haven’t had this much fun and interest in academic work since I took IB English like damn I might cry after I hand it in
Later I decided to tackle some Marketing lectures since I did get a bit behind.

Wondering if any bridgewater fans have recommendations for similar format pods I can try out? Fictional stories with no narrator I mean.
Don't be shy, I'm up for trying any genre, and if I don't like your recommendation I won't tell you <3

Ahh yeah, let's talk about The Bright Sessions (@brightpodcast ) from @laurenshippen and @atypicalartists . The Bright Sessions is a speculative fiction drama podcast, and is the first pod in the Lauren Shippen Empire. It falls in to one of the #podtropes I'm always a sucker for, people with special powers, and then turns it on it's ear. It's about the psychiatric practice of Dr. Joan Bright, played by Julia Morizawa (Amelia Project, Bridgewater, The Strange Case of Starship Iris, EOS10). Joan is a psychiatrist who helps people with special abilities, atypicals, to manage and control their powers, and also just offer good old fashioned counseling. Like, what if you were a gay high schooler, who suddenly found they could feel the emotions of people around them--all the people...in high school? Had the power to read minds? Time travel, but not when you want to, but triggered by anxiety attacks? What if you had the ability to force people to do what you wanted? How would that affect you? You'd probably want some help coping with this. Though, then again, where did Dr. Bright learn these techniques? Surely someone must have shown her how to help... There's 123 15-30 minute episodes in the feed, including spin-offs, The AM archives, and The College Tapes. Drama, intrigue, and some mystery/occasional heist vibes, The Bright Sessions is definitely on the list of iconic pods you'll regret not listening to. If you like "mutant abilities", found families, and well-crafted stories, then The Bright Sessions is for you!

The Welcome Building at RHS Garden Bridgewater
Jury Report
A sustainable, engaging and considered ‘public pavilion’ has been designed and delivered in order to house all amenities for visitors to RHS Garden Bridgewater. From an invited competition, the local community have been consulted in creating a much-loved local asset where visitor numbers have far surpassed expectations through a combination of tourism and community visits.
The Welcome Building embraces environmental considerations with ground source heat pumps providing 80% of requirements. Rainwater harvesting, natural cross ventilation and green roofs are also major contributors to the life cycle strategy. The design is highly sustainable and appropriate to context.

The main building is conceived as a rhythm of tree structures supporting an overarching timber diagrid and accommodates visitor reception, seasonal sales floor, café and garden centre with ‘pods’ providing office, wc’s and kitchen areas. The flexibility of the design allows pods to be dismantled without disturbing the main shell. The main body of the building can also be extended in the future as groundworks have been constructed in order to extend the frame. photo © Peter Cook
Clad in treated larch but with large areas of glazing/a central roof light, the resultant building creates an uplifting space as visitors arrive and leave the gardens. The extension of the canopy beyond the thermal line at each end blurs interior and exterior and either frames views to the gardens or extends the nursery sales area. The treatment of elevations along the length of the structure establishes outdoor areas for dining or private areas for educational rooms.
Although a large uplifting volume, the horizontal nature of the building is read as a dramatic yet sensitive installation in the landscape from various ‘moments’ within the gardens. This project re-purposes the 156 acre Worsley New Hall Estate through collaboration of RHS, Salford City Council and Peel Land & Property. With landscape renewal and sustainability at its heart, the project embodies post-pandemic offerings for social engagement and wellbeing through an intelligently delivered solution to amenity.

Bridgewater is so good... I light some candles, pour some wine, turn out the lights, and lay there comfy in the bed with my eyes closed and just let the story wash over me. It's so relaxing, I love the story and I don't even have to watch or think, I just get whisked away by the words into a different world where me and my friends in this world are trying to solve the mystery of this man's trauma and this strange place. And the best part is it's a real place full of real legends and odd disappearances. The mystery is here, in our world, and it's real and tangible. This is a level of escapism and love for life that's entirely new to me.
It's a gem of a podcast AND it's created by a tumblr user who always writes adventures and puts queer characters, poc, and women of all kinds in all their stories every time, and really explores and captures the nuance and the longing of every experience that fits so well and hits so hard. So we have some even more amazing things coming here. There's no queerbaiting here, this podcast is exactly what it says it is.
And these characters are so beautiful and full and whole.
