mama canary please??
Hi Hello you have impeccable timing!
I'm about to post a couple new updates today (please look forward to that!) and one of them is for Mama Canary!
So here's what I'll do: The new update is about Danny and Dinah's first outing together, but it's unfortunately on the shorter side. So the snippet i'm showing below is from a chapter that is set (story-wise) about 3 chapters later!
Jason has decided that this will be eventual Dead On Main, and I have apparently lost control of my life, so here it is! Hope you like it :)
===
“No.” Jason says, grasping at the guy’s wrist and trying to push him away.
He doesn’t actually want to start a scene and break the guy’s wrist, but it’s so very tempting.
“Aw, come on, give me a chance!” He’s just about to say something pithy, maybe even straight up punch the guy, when dudebro suddenly collapses onto his knee.
Jason blinks.
“He said no, you no good limp biscuit.” Just behind the groaning meathead, there’s a kid, maybe 8 years old, seething.
“Danny!” Jason turns, and that is Dinah Lance, power walking from the cashier.
“What the hell?!” Dunderhead is glaring at the kid now, clutching at his knee. Kid must have kicked him right behind the joint to make him collapse. Nice.
“I saw the way you were touching him!” Danny growls, and it’s much cuter than the kid probably intends.
Dinah, having finally arrived to where Danny is, scoops him up much to his ire. She spots him, then, eyebrows going from furrowed to surprised. “Jason!”
“Dinah!” Jason says, teasingly.
“Limp Biscuit!” Danny joins in, pointing at the guy still on the ground.
Jason laughs at Dinah’s resulting sigh.

need more future in-law interactions between saikis parents and kuboyasus parents.. imagine them meeting for the first time at like a school event and yasus mom goes up to kurumi and kuniharu and is like "your kid the one mine wont stop flirting with?"
i think mama yasu would see how kusuo interacts with kurumi and immediately be like "yeah, this is the one for my son."
we know that aren canonically puts A LOT of respect on his parents.. so i think it's safe to assume that thats the standard in their home.. i want to say its contradictory that despite being raised a murderous delinquent, he was also raised so traditionally, with all the "respect women, respect your elders, respect your parents," etc. but i dont think its contradictory at all, i think its pretty commonplace actually? but yeah, anyway.. kurumi is super ditzy and is always just barely almost getting herself hurt but kusuo is always putting his hand on table corners before she bonks her head, pulling her to his side right before she bumps into things, catching things she drops before they break, etc..
this is a topic i should also touch on without the context of a ship actually.. i just think it would be cute for the others to see how sweet kurumi and kusuo are, and also how SIMILAR they are..

thinking about rattus rattus au Dagger getting to spend more time with his mom and taking her for drives down country roads and singing carly simon and dolly parton and stopping to pick dandelions on the side of the highway with her because he used to make her bouquets when he was a kid and the only time he doesn't smoke a cigarette is when he's with her

"As much as I love Big Mama as a villain and character, I find it VERY weird that people see her as a mother figure to the turtles. I mean, it’s all good fun I guess, but come on. Can’t we set our bar higher people??? The crazy broad almost killed them on countless occasions lmao"

Being in the middle of two sisters, Cassandra never catches a break.
When it’s about getting things done, it’s always “the older two” which means her and Bela.
When she gets into all kinds of trouble with Daniela it’s always “the younger two”.
In one instance, Daniela is excluded, and in the other Bela is excluded. Her? She is always there and she’s never excluded from either responsibility or mischief.

Moomins is such a pre-ironic piece of media. It does things with characterization that I don't see much in modern stuff, because if you did them you'd usually be self aware or subversive about it now that irony is popular. Moomintroll is a total mama's boy and has a stable and very affectionate relationship with Snork Maiden, it's never a joke and his masculinity is never called into question over it. How many modern things would just play those traits off as a joke?
He's also kinda misogynistic. It's a consistent trait that Moomintroll has in both the books and the 90s series, and he's consistently proven wrong. Of course I'm sure that's how nearly all boys were in the 40s in European cultures, and it's likewise not played off as a joke. I feel this would be an extremely unusual mix of character traits to have (and not be the butt of the joke) in modern, post-ironic cartoon that is rooted in modern culture and has to point and laugh at itself. I think the main reason I'm enjoying the moomins so much is it comes from a genuinely weird and very sincere place.
