Torno a parlare di Musica.

Lo so che l'idea era quella di aprire un blog parallelo dove parlavo solo di musica, ma è ancora la e non so se la attuo perché alla fine posso mettere un bel tag e chi vuole si legge i post musicali. Comunque, oggi vedo un video di Silvestrin dove nella foto iniziale c'è Bruce Dickinson (per chi non lo sapesse è il cantante degli Iron Maiden), allora che fa non lo guardo? Nel video Enrico loda, in questo caso, il frontman dicendo che la sua proposta su come tirare su la musica è decisamente la migliore fin'ora. Avevo parlato tempo fa del video sempre di Silvestrin dedicato all'idea di Kanye West, riassumo : lui dice che come nel cinema quando esce un disco per il primo mese lo si trova in vendita e passato quel periodo pure in streaming. Mentre Bruce (la faccio breve, per chi è curioso si può guardare il video che metto sotto) dice che i fan, cioè quelli che tengono alla musica devono avere più spazio, come per esempio quello davanti al palco che ormai è destinato a VIP e influencer solo per far vedere che erano all'evento, perché un fan che compra il disco e poi viene al concerto non ha tutti quei soldi per poter stare in prima fila; per gli altri, cioè gli ascoltatori della domenica, quelli che non gli frega un cavolo della musica e per loro è solo un sottofondo, quelli possono andare a fanQ. Più o meno il discorso è questo, cioè ridare la musica a chi la ama veramente e non a chi si ascolta brani random e non sa neanche chi e cosa sta ascoltando. L'idea non è male di per se, forse non tutti hanno voglia di svilupparla, cioè i due artisti hanno proposto qualcosa che forse alle case discografiche non interessa, oppure a quelli che organizzano i concerti non conviene, anche se lo spazio davanti al palco è grande se ci metti tavolini e bar perdi spazio prezioso dove poter mettere centinaia di persone che anche se pagano 50€ di biglietto sono centinaia, beh questo dipende da come si calcolano i costi, se fai l'area VIP e ci guadagni di più è ovvio che non si potrà mai fare. Ma la cosa che noto è che finalmente qualcuno che sta ai piani alti si sta facendo sentire, se fino a poco fa nessun artista si era fatto avanti adesso si vede che c'è in qualche modo l'intenzione di cambiare le cose dall'alto, questo anche perché attraverso lo streaming (spotify è solo uno dei tanti) nessun artista guadagna, forse le case discografiche ma forse poco, questo è un campanello d'allarme che suona sempre nei momenti di crisi o quando il conto in banca non sale ma scende e basta.

Nel sottobosco le cose vanno diversamente, se ti va bene vendi qualche cd, qualche copia digitale su bandcamp, ma l'incasso lo fai andando sul palco e questo non cambierà mai, ci saranno sempre concerti e ci saranno sempre band che suonano, non importa se si guadagna tanto o poco, se si campa o meno, l'importante è comunicare le proprie idee attraverso la musica, come gli artisti di altre discipline fanno, anche se il periodo è turbolento per tutti.

Un nota personale, non ci sono più movimenti (musicali o culturali) e questo fa si che ci sia poco interesse da parte del pubblico perché ognuno fa per se e così si è da soli a cercare di emergere, coi movimenti si andava tutti in una direzione (tutti quelli che facevano parte del movimento).

who’s ur top 10 bands/artists?

GOOD QUESTION and i might say more about them than i need to but that's probably fine. i also can't really order them from like #1 - #10 (if i even have 10 to list yet actually) because i love them all for different reasons and, because those reasons are so different, i can't place one above another in my mind(except possibly one of them but i'll get to that). so i will just number them as i think of them

1. okay so i love iron maiden very much and although i love all of the members, bruce dickinson is my favorite from them. they're probably the first band that i ever said was my favorite and meant it. i love the way they are with the fans and how genuine they always are about everything.

2. HOWEVER, even though i didn't really acknowledge it for a long time(and actually may have forgotten they existed for many years before getting into them again after iron maiden(oops)), sweet was actually my first ever favorite band since i was a kid. i used to play a cassette tape of them over and over all day every day. my favorite of them is brian connolly, i love his voice. i used to stare at my dad's (now mine) desolation boulevard vinyl cover a lot when i was little. i remember looking at steve priest's red hair the most.

3. some might think i'm out of my mind for grouping showaddywaddy into the mix, but i love the sound of doowop. and they did it so well while also being so fun to watch. i actually can't watch any of their videos without smiling or laughing, even if i'm in the worst mood, which is exactly what they were all about. my favorites of them are buddy gask and malcolm allured.

4. AND THEN WE HAVE BADFINGER. pete ham and tom evans are my favorites of them. pete is the one that i might put at the very top of my favorites list. i love him so much, he was a very good guitarist and songwriter and i don't think enough people are aware of it. i love his mind and his voice is very soothing to listen to. he was a very gentle, sensitive and caring person and he deserved the entire world and everything good in life.

5. i haven't officially said it yet until now(i think?), but argent is the most recent addition to my favorites. from when i was first sent a video of them a while back and i heard russ ballard's voice and saw the way he is on stage and the sound of the music, i KNEW right away they would eventually be one of THE BANDS and i already knew russ would be my favorite of them. what i DIDN'T expect is for him to be so.. inspirational? i don't know what other word to use. like everything he says in interviews and things makes me pause the video for a while to rethink my entire life and what i'm doing with it(in a good "maybe i can fix my life" kind of way). i actually cried my eyes out earlier over some things he said. he's a very good guitarist as well, and pianist and of course the songwriting, among other things. BEAUTIFUL singing voice that he could do many things with. he's so full of life and joy and optimism. and MUSIC. he is very full of music. my love for him is growing rapidly every day.

6. okay before i gush so much that my phone battery dies, i'm going to list one i don't really post but has been one of my favorites for a long time(again i didn't acknowledge them as a favorite until recently). i love genesis. all of genesis, but when i started listening again after not listening for a few years, i was suddenly more into their earlier music with peter gabriel, which is the opposite of how it used to be. (still love(d) both eras then and now though)

7. AND i can't leave out suzi quatro being my favorite bassist! or one of my favorites or something. i love her and i don't think she's talked about enough. i still have to learn more about her.

okay i think i'm out of favorites. unless i'm forgetting one. i don't think so.

i'm somehow too easily attached to bands but also very picky about them at the same time while also basically loving everything. i don't know how that works.

I grandi marchi: Videomusic

Una delle reti televisive simbolo della musica anni Ottanta… Videomusic, ideata dall'avvocato Michele Lo Foco e dal discografico Ciro Dammicco e fondata da Pier Luigi Stefani e Marialina Marcucci, debuttò  il 2 aprile 1984 sulle frequenze di Elefante Tv, a sua volta evoluzione di TVS Telexpress, dal centro di produzione all'interno del complesso Il ciocco  di Castelvecchio Pascoli, frazione del comune di Barga, in provincia di Lucca.   Il logo della nuova rete, composto da una piccola scritta Video su una M verde, fu ideato e disegnato da Graziano Gregori, mentre il videoclip che inaugurò le trasmissioni fu All Night Long (All Night) di Lionel Ritchie. La nuova tv ebbe  un grande successo di pubblico tra i ragazzi, che presero Videomusic come punto di riferimento televisivo, mentre la  rotazione dei video avveniva durante tutto l’arco della giornata, all’interno di vari programmi, fra i quali On the air condotto, tra gli altri, da Gianfranco Monti e Marco Baldini. Videomusic era noto anche per i numerosi concerti live diretti inizialmente da Ruggero Montigelli e, successivamente, da Gabriele Cazzola, con nomi come Enrico Ruggeri, Francesco De Gregori Franco Battiato, Ligabue, Ivano Fossati, Litfiba, Iron Maiden, Eurithmics, Bryan Ferry, Toto, Nirvana, B.B.King, Pearl Jam, Red hot chili peppers, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Bruce Dickinson, Black Sabbath e David Bowie, oltre a un telegiornale giovanile, dove il tradizionale Buongiorno  fu  sostituito col confidenziale Ciao, in onda dal gennaio 1992. Nel 1994 l’emittente aveva 100 dipendenti, 15 giornalisti, 3 sedi, un magazzino con oltre 15.000 videoclip, e mille ore di speciali e concerti registrati e un fatturato pubblicitario di 19 miliardi, inoltre la Beta Television dei Marcucci aveva acquistato anche la maggioranza del pacchetto azionario di Superchannel, televisione inglese via satellite, il cui segnale raggiungeva tutta Europa, e trasmetteva un palinsesto a base di musica, news, cinema e cultura. Ma nel giugno 1995 i Marcucci cedettero  l’emittente a Vittorio Cecchi Gori, che affiancò Videomusic a TeleMontecarlo, con la notte e la mattina solo trasmissioni musicali col marchio Videomusic, il pomeriggio e la sera programmi nuovi e vari targati Tmc2 e nel giugno 1996 Videomusic avvia una convivenza con un secondo canale denominato Telemontercarlo2 (Tmc2): dall’1 di notte alle 18. Videomusic  trasmise i video e programmi mentre nella fascia serale cede il passo alla programmazione di Tmc2 fatta di telefilm, cartoni animati, informazione e film dal target giovanile. Ma la formula non ebbe  successo, nel 1997 il marchio Videomusic sparì definitivamente e la rete divenne  ufficialmente Tmc2, che  cessò di esistere nell’estate 2001 con la nascita de La7, mentre le frequenze della vecchia Videomusic e di Tmc2  vennero cedute alla grande avversaria Mtv. Con il prog di ”Onirica” o pezzi come “The Elderly And The Wall”, dove Bruce Dickinson degli antichi fasti incontra una musica a base di slappate e schitarrate, queste ultime più marcate in “Living In Lies”, se non addirittura impazzite mentre scorre “The Devil Laughs Under The Bed”. Ma il nuovo corso dei ragazzi era fatto anche di rock-ballads come “Otrom (To My Grandmothers)”, i filtri di “Who Are You?”) e di pause momentanee (la voce del silenzio presente in “ES”, la titletrack).

Graham Bonnet Band - Day Out In Nowhere

The Graham Bonnet Band have released their brand new studio album, ‘Day Out In Nowhere’. Graham is joined by his regular bandmates Beth-Ami Heavenstone (bass) and Conrado Pesinato (guitar) on the new record, along with keyboardist Alessandro Bertoni and drummer Shane Gaalaas.

The album also sees guest performance and co-writing appearances from the likes of Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore), John Tempesta (The Cult, White Zombie), Mike Tempesta (Powerman 5000), Roy Z (Halford, Bruce Dickinson) and Don Airey (Deep Purple, Rainbow).

Graham says, “In a similar way to the first two [GBB] albums, this new record reflects different eras of my career, but with a contemporary twist. I’m also delighted to be playing with original band members Beth-Ami Heavenstone, who has been my constant partner on and off stage since we met in 2012, plus Conrado Pesinato, whose innate musical style elicits some of my best songwriting. They were also both involved in the album production, which helped make the whole process seamless.”

Graham Bonnet is a hard rock legend, with solo offerings and stints with Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz and Impellitteri proving that he is one of the finest rock vocalists and songwriters of his generation. From his late 60's and now into his 70's, he has written and recorded three of the best albums of his career;  two regal, rocking yet elegant sounding records with the Graham Bonnet Band, ‘The Book’ (2016) and ‘Meanwhile, Back in the Garage’ (2018), plus a  2020 reunion album with Graham Bonnet’s Alcatrazz entitled ‘Born Innocent’.
