Under Wraps
Tumblr media
Bruce Wayne x Wife!reader
IN WHICH Bruce and you deal with the aftermath of your kidnapping.
WC: 1.8k
warnings: ANGST, mentions of kidnapping, injuries, PTSD, soft!Bruce.
A/N: Ive l’ost all motivation in writing as of recently and had to FORCE myself to write this for a whole ass month😭 so it’s really nothing great.
Tumblr media
The tense silence that lingered between you two was suffocating, albeit all windows in the room being wide open. You just couldn’t get yourself to speak, and Bruce just didn’t know what to say. He never does, but you love him either way. it’s funny to see the cocky billionaire flaunt all of his riches out to the world while he softens for you.
You sat upon the edge of your shared bed with your head in your hands, unable to make out whatever you husband was fumbling with behind you. The feeling of being in the opposite man’s grasp was so fresh to you, like a new scar that your brain harboured. Not only mentally, but the haunting mark across your wrists and neck were yet another temporary reminder of what had happened to you that night.
Oftentimes throughout the night you found yourself being ashamed for a reason or the other. Your husband’s been through worse, so have your sons, and yet your brain couldn’t help but replay the disturbing images of the moment you’d lost Bruce at the gala. You sighed in the comfort of your hands, forcing your eyelids shut impossibly further than they already were to try and shoo the nightmares away.
Your clothes laid messily somewhere across the floor, a bloody and muddy mess that Bruce had quickly drawn off of you before ushering you into a warm shower. He’d then dressed you in a silky robe, and that was the end of it before you’d end up on the edge of the bed, alone with your thoughts despite your husband being in the same room as you.
Your ears fell deaf to the sound of constant rustling of cloth, so much that you failed to hear him crouch before you as he settled comfortably on his knees.
Rough hands gently pried at your own, pulling them away from their protective stance around your face. The sudden lack of covering made you scrunch your nose in dismay, but a quick look from those hazel eyes before you had you relaxing. Bruce made a quick work out of the situation, silent as ever as his hands came to undo the knot around your robe that he himself had previously tied.
You didn’t complain as his hands pushed at your robe, revealing the naked torso that Bruce had seen so many times before. The soft sigh that escaped your husband didn’t go deaf to your ears, and you closed your eyes once more as you awaited for the tingly feeling of his fingers. Seconds passed in sterile silence before you finally felt the scarred skin upon your own, except instead of balm covered fingers, you were met with his warm, bare ones.
You opened your eyes to the sight of your dishevelled husband staring down at your bruised torso, the balms and bandages that were once in his left hand now abandoned beside you on the bed. His right hand held onto your side like an anchor, wide thumb pressing against your stomach. Bruce kneeling between your open legs was a sight that you’d never get tired of, but this time you could only pray for it to end.
Hazel iris traced the dark spots littering your torso with a shame that was beyond their ability. Tiny hairs across his hairline stuck to his forehead due to cold sweat, and you brought a hand down to smooth them behind, little to no care for the tacky fluid rubbing onto your hand. Slowly by slowly, you began caressing your way down his face, smoothing out the wrinkles accumulating on his face before stopping on the edge of his jaw.
The feeling of your fingers, alive and warm upon his freshly shaven jaw caused his fingers to involuntary clench on your side. The painful hiss that escaped your mouth was enough to snap your husband out of his stance, fingers almost immediately unclenching from their grip.
Masochistic as it was, you were somewhat glad for the pain. It reminded you that you were alive and well, there in the mansion with your husband. It also managed to get those brown eyes that you loved so much to snap upwards towards you. They held so many feelings in there that you believed you could not be able to tend to them all in one night.
“I’m sorry,” it left his lips faster than your brain could comprehend, and you were left dumbfounded yourself at those two little words. Meaningless in most relationships, those words were nothing that you’d ever hear coming on of the one and only Bruce Wayne’s lips. He was cocky, always flaunting his riches to those who seeked.
“It’s okay, it only hurt for a second.” you lied, because the throbbing pain still coursing through your right side threatened to sell you out. You could tell that Bruce wasn’t buying it, so much for being Gotham’s greatest detective. Nevertheless, your hand resumed its delicate caressing upon his cheek, a ruse to take his mind away from the little slip up.
You could practically see the gears turning inside his head, trying to decipher why in hell you would be lying to him about this out of everything. Yet again he’d worried far too much over you in one night, you wouldn’t let his mind collapse over something so minor.
Bruce didn’t wait for your approval before shifting on his knees, hands grabbing at the balms that looked humorously tiny compared to his large palm. The cold paste spreads smoothly upon the tip of his fingers, and soon they’re on your skin. The sensation made you flinch, but the reassuring hand that laid on your knee made you calm down. You thought it was crazy how such a simple thing could make you relax so easily, yet again marriage and love were another crazy thing of their own.
Your fingers clenched on their own as you felt
your throat tightening. No. Hell no, you wouldn’t let Bruce see you cry after the hectic course of fucking hell of days that you’d put him through. That selfless side of you that was present most of the time was yelling at you to stay strong, and yet the sight of your burly, rough and yet caring husband doting after you following your accident, you couldn’t hold it in anymore.
You fingers clenched into a fist, nails digging little crescent moon into the skin of your palm as
you gritted your teeth together to hold in a loud sob threatening to escape past your lips involuntarily. From his spot on the floor, Bruce froze at the sight of the soft, rhythmic movements that swayed at your chest. From the corner of his eyes nevertheless, and in the dimness of the enclosed room, his senses never failed him.
Tilting his face up to meet your own, his fingers unwillingly clenched around the poor tin can of balm upon his hands. The tears that you were trying so hard to keep in pooled at your waterline, entangling in your bottom lashes before escaping on their own accord. He watched as your chest shook, exasperation taking over your body before you could even cry to him. Yet you weren’t doing it, and for some reason Bruce knew that he had some part to play in it.
He remained silent as his hand came to clutch onto your own. Then, the sobs shook you and you just couldn’t hold it in anymore. You jumped from your seat on the edge of the bed and straight into his awaiting embrace, arms thrown tightly around the broad neck. Bruce felt his heart squeezing at the sound of your distraught cries, like the Joker himself had his heart placed and chained on some sort of death carousel.
Nothing was more painful to Bruce than family. The bad and the good hurt. Like when happiness would grasp at his heart so hard that it’d physically hurt. Only family could achieve that for him, yet life wasn’t always favourable, and the bat knew that better than anyone else. He could make a list of things, one shittier and more tragic than the other, that’s happened to Bruce ever since he was but a little boy, and yet, his heart never got more of in a twist than at the sight of a member of his family hurting.
Your breath staggered, and your husband felt the warm exhale of you trying to stabilise yourself upon his neck. A large, ringless, and warm palm found its way to the small of your back like a collarless dog chasing home. Suddenly, another bare hand fell upon your back as Bruce embraced you against his chest fully.
The room was void of any noise save for the agonising sounds of your pained sobs. Bruce didn’t need to ask anything, he didn’t need to inquire to know that you were hurt. All the more scared and traumatised after your encounter with the Joker. His large palm rubbed comforting circles along your back as you laid motionless in his warm embrace.
“You’re home now,” he muttered, as though it would help appease all of the new scars and fears that you'd acquired in the span of a few days.
“I’m glad.” you breathed out from your position in the crook of his neck, feeling like you’d break down again if you spoke too much. The both of you occupied your positions on the floor for far longer than normal, only splitting apart to rejoin the comfort of the soft mattress after you’d whined in pain following a slight movement to adjust yourself on his lap.
Bruce made a quick and effortless job of carrying you back to bed, pausing in his movements when you’d told him you’d feel better to sleep with the side lamp on tonight. The frown on his face deepened at your comment, yet he didn’t allow you to see it as he kept his back to you despite complying. Settling in bed was even harder for you than you expected, unable to wrap your arms around the muscular torso of your husband and rest your head upon his chest as your injury unabled you to.
Sleep didn’t come easy either, plagued with nightmares that previously didn’t exist in the far back of your mind. Bruce was here with you through it all, his sleeping habits aiding him to wake by the moment you’d stir awake. That night, Batman slept but Bruce didn’t, but the feeling of your pulse regaining its normal beat as you laid with your back against his chest erased Bruce’s ability to care. Safe and sound under the wraps.

anyways that was that….

how do u think battinson shows affection ?? 🤔 since he's literally a sopping wet cat of a man and not the best as socializing, one would think physical affection but is he too awkward for that even ? what do u think ??
battinson!bruce wayne x fem!reader
okay okay!! so I think for bruce wayne, acts of service is a big one in terms of showing affection!! mostly because he can just do them quietly, if you know what I mean? he doesn’t have to make a big show out of it, doesn’t even have to tell you he’s gonna do them. he’ll just iron your clothes for you without you having to ask, buy your favourite shampoo when he notices you’re running out, tie your shoes before you leave the house together, take your heels off for you after a date. just so many quiet, sweet acts of service that he doesn’t even really think about, he just does them because he loves you and he cares. he gets shy when you confront him about it, though. like, you’ll find he’s restocked all your skincare and hair products and you’ll hunt him down and be like, “bruce, honey, you didn’t have to,” pushing up on to your toes to kiss him. he gets all red around the ears and pretends he doesn’t know what you’re talking about <3
as for physical affection, I think yes he enjoys giving it and receiving it but it’s gotta be at the right time! given how protective he is, he’ll hold your hand in public or almost always have one of his big hands on your hip or the small of your back to guide you, but nothing much more than that. when you’re alone he likes it a lot more, especially if you’re the one giving it. he’s not often the one to initiate hugs or cuddles, it’s almost always you. but you don’t mind, because he never rejects you what you want. he’s a bit awkward about it, especially in the beginning, never knowing what to do with his hands (should he rub your back or stroke your hair or just keep them still??) but once he’s more used to it he’s a really good hugger. his broadness helps too <3
still, his favourite thing is when you initiate the cuddling because it makes him feel really loved and wanted! and then he’ll cuddle back. when you climb in his lap and tuck your chin over his shoulder, he’ll rub your back and you all but melt on top of him. you’ll be lying half on top of him in bed, stroking his cheek lovingly, and he’ll take your hand in his and press his mouth to your fingertips. when you’re massaging his shoulders after a long night, or pushing his hair from his forehead when it’s in his eyes, he’ll give your hip a squeeze as a thank you. it’s almost like, your affection makes him brave enough to reciprocate it. and it honestly means a lot, coming from him. your awkward grumpy touch-starved boy <3

Once
Fandom: DC
Type: one-shot
Prompt/Summary: I found this in my notes.
Pairing(s): Bruce Wayne x Reader
Requested? Not even a little bit
Tumblr media
It happened one time.
Years before Dick was adopted and Selina was no longer in the picture. In fact, they were together at the time but they were on a “break.” Though they were still living under the same roof.
That’s how you got Bruce Wayne in your little apartment for one night and screamed his name until the sun came up. In the morning you agreed that this was a one-time mistake and it wouldn’t ever happen again.
You wiped a tear from your cheek when he left and never spoke about it again. You kept running your bookstore and he spearheaded all things Wayne Enterprises.
You didn’t see him again for a year when it was time for another charity gala. You came from a family of low-level socialites and as the oldest, you attended as your parents vacationed on the west coast.
He was alone this time.
Selina and he had officially broken up quite recently.
He gave you a warm smile and asked you to dance and you stupidly took his hand.
Then it happened again. At Wayne Manor this time. He was asleep when you rubbed the sleep from your eyes and you couldn’t help but admire his features as the morning sun snuck through an opening in the curtains.
You kissed his forehead, wrote a note, and left before he woke up.
You shed more tears on the cab ride home because a man you only saw when the sun set could never be yours.
You took the day off from work then another before finally going back.
When you got in the manager told you Bruce Wayne stopped by both days and left his card.
You stared at that card for hours in your back office, flipping it over and over admiring his personal number in his elegant writing.
You called but hung up before he could answer.
You did this 3 times.
A whole week later you called and let it ring.
A short conversation led to an agreement on dinner.
Dinner led to dating.
Dating led to marriage.
Marriage led to the amazing children that stumbled into your lives one by one.
And you had never been so happy.
You had gotten the life you never could have dreamed.

In a world where soulmates can feel each other’s pain, Bruce experiences the death of his soulmate.
Bruce Wayne x Fem!Reader
Prompt: “only love can hurt like this”
Contents: soulmate AU, heavy angst, hurt no comfort, character death, terribly sad Bruce, mention of torture, 1.3k
Notes: I’ve been meaning to do something like this forever! I’m happy to finally do it. Anyway, cheers! Hope you enjoy
Tumblr media
Bruce’s feet shuffled, drawing in rigid lines from his desk in the Batcave to the wall at the end of the room, turning sharply and back in long strides. His armour was on aside from his gloves and cowl – which remained clutched in a tightly balled fist. The clanking of his boots hitting the ground was synchronous with each ragged breath as his shoulders remained hunched and tense – blinded by frenzied panic from the pain flaring and intensifying across his chest and head.
Everything hurt; his body unceremoniously tearing itself open at the expense of himself. Of his soulmate. It rendered him barely able to function, the tugging on the soulbond continuously pulling, each time becoming weaker as he felt his soulmate pleading for help. For him.
And he was unable to do anything but endure her suffering.
In the distance, Alfred could be heard tapping away frantically on a keyboard, searching for any possible clues about her whereabouts they might’ve missed. Dory came frequently too, doing the best she could.
It had been like that for several long weeks. No leads, no clues, nothing from GCPD, nothing but a few stray videos from surveillance cameras catching moments before her disappearance. The videos were blurry, each lead was a dead end after another and all motives remained unclear. At first, it had been money – a forty million ransom for her safe return, which soon doubled, then tripled and became apparent it was used as a means to waste time and toy with Bruce — only sending him untraceable videos of her. Some were of her crying, others screaming as they were beaten and tortured.
Bruce hadn’t slept for more than a few hours a week, continuously pushing himself in search of her. Even if he attempted to, guilt consumed him as the slotted space next to him remained cold and bare as inexplicable pain jabbed him. Invisible wounds lacerated his body in vicious cruelty, inundating him in consuming pain that cracked and bubbled under thin layers of skin and bone – hallowing every corner of his mind and body and stripping it void. Shadows somehow appeared darker, submerging and latching on Bruce that tainted every bit of dwindling hope.
He felt her pain like his own, compounded by unspeakable grief and agony. He trembled with it, leaving himself breathless and bracing against rusted railings and edged walls. His body screamed at him for his own mistakes, an outrageous injustice that ate away, peeling and dissolved into nothing but choked blood and lack of mind.
It limited Bruce and his efforts as the Batman.
Thoughts looped, paused, rewinded and played while examining the little evidence he had, again and again. It was torturous, knowing they took her and was in danger because of him. She was nothing more than a pawn to them and a means to control him.
And they were successful.
Alone, Bruce could hardly live, the pain possessing his body, taking tremendous effort to stand, to breathe – paralyzed by loneliness, withdrawn into solitude. The only thing that kept him going was Alfred, thrumming adrenaline and fear.
Intense, horrible fear.
Alone, his body failed him. Alone, he was directly failing her. Alone, both were manipulated by her attackers.
With a prolonged exhale, he turned back towards the desk, peering over Alfred’s shoulder.
“Anything?”
“I’m sorry, Master Wayne,” Alfred said pitifully. Bruce could see the dark circles engraved on the old man’s face — weighed down by her disappearance.
Alfred could hardly look him in the eye, almost as if he was just as ashamed as Bruce was towards himself.
He clenched his jaw, nodding stiffly and pulled his lips between his teeth before peering back at the screen. However, his eyes wandered to the border where photos were taped. It was instinctive, the sight making his heart pang while reaching out to pry them from the screen.
The faded edges of the photo felt dull against his fingertips, worn and bent. The first photo was blurry, but the memory was ingrained in his mind. She had purposely worn dark lipstick, pressing kisses to his face as his arm poorly shield himself from the bright flash of her camera. He was looking up at her, face flushed with pink while she beamed at the camera.
The second made him pause and study for the longest. It was the night of their first anniversary, taken by Alfred. They looked at each other, a rare smile flashing wide across his face as her left hand rested on his chest, her right tangled with his own. Their bodies were so close and even then, if he closed his eyes and focused, could almost feel her pressed against him; could feel her heartbeat fluttering just like his.
Her lips were parted slightly, about to tug into a matching smile as she whispered praises and small declarations of love to him. And he wished nothing more than for that photo to spring to life, utter those same words to her.
Sometimes he was convinced he was born for two reasons. One, to protect Gotham and two, for her.
He couldn’t recall the last time he cried – properly cried, but there, Bruce struggled to push down tears and swallow a scratchy sob as he waited for the inevitable breakdown to come flooding.
Fuck, he couldn’t stand there anymore.
With shaky hands, he pressed the photos to his lips before returning them to their spots and turned, marching up to the batmobile.
“Master Wayne,” Alfred’s voice came sternly. “Master Wayne! Where are you going?”
“I have to do something,” he gritted, already slipping his gloves on.
“You’re in no condition to –”
Bruce’s scoff interrupted him at the mere thought. Hidden underneath his anger, the hurt, both internally and visually, bleed onto his features, face clear despite the darkness in the room threatening to envelop him.
His mouth opened to retaliate but fell silent as his knees buckled, losing balance and staggered back just as his hand grazed the handle of the car. A sharp, piercing ringing roared in his ears – rattling around his mind. It was a tortured sound of a soul, aching, biting, thrashing against restraints and fuelled with wrath and endless sorrow.
The surroundings blurred, his chest beginning to heave with large sobs lodged in his throat. Something was wrong – felt it rush through him like a sharp razor, jagged edges piercing his skin and striking down in a swift motion like a scalpel splitting his body in half.
Bruce was on his knees before he could process it, doubling over and on the verge of hyperventilating. His fingernails dug into his palms so hard he felt blood trickling out and seep between his fingers and coagulate in the creases of his palms.
Bruce had always had a high pain tolerance, but this was debilitating – mangling his throat with each sob torn from his lips. He couldn’t stop screaming – voice cracking from the force of them with eyes cascading tears like a broken dam.
He doesn’t register the bustling noise of Alfred rushing to his side and Dory barreling into the room.
Bruce’s hand flew to his chest, feeling something snap and hit with a sudden emptiness. Anatomically or psychologically, he couldn’t tell, but the pain was more painful than anything he had experienced, surpassing every bullet wound or explosion. An excruciating pain spread throughout his body that made his arms and legs grow numb and buzz, like static, through and submerged him in mind-numbing pain.
“Bruce!” yelled Alfred, trying to touch him. But he kicked, raged against anything binding him and shook violently.
The warmth in his chest felt different, felt scoldingly hot before dampened with an impenetrable chill cracking. It was as if a branding iron had been pressed against his chest, scraping down and melting his metal chest plate down to flesh.
There was nothing softer than a heart, and the crack splintering down the middle of his soul was felt across separating souls and snapping the invisible string attached between them.
His soul suddenly hardened.
The realization came instantly. Soulmate bonds could only be broken through a few circumstances. By choice or death.
And Bruce hadn’t chosen to sever the tie. Only love could hurt like this.

I’d die without you
Tumblr media
Summary: Being in a relationship is hard and takes time, but being the Batman and being in a relationship is 10 times harder. Batman tries to push the reader away due to insecurity and worries about the readers' safety.
(I don’t remember who made the artwork but all credits go to them!)
Wc: 800+
Warnings: Angsty Bruce, POV lowkey switches throughout (if you squint), and the reader is slightly self-centered. Proofread once!
I can see it in his weary blue eyes, the weight of Gotham is collapsing on him now more than ever. Call this next feeling self-centered, but it feels like it’s my fault.
We’ve been dating for 5 months and he’s confided in me that making Gotham safer has been more critical than ever now that I am in his life. This news is comforting but also makes me concerned for his safety.
“I don’t care what happens to me”, is something he has repeatedly confessed to me, after telling me that I refuse to go to sleep until he is returned back to me in one piece. For a while now I have been assigned to reside at the Wayne Manor per Bruce’s request, and honestly, I don’t mind staying here. This place has a haunting feeling to it, it’s beautiful, and it’s also Bruce’s safe Haven.
He likes to know I'm somewhere that is safe and he knows Alfred is here if anything bad happens, I use to think this was very possessive behavior but after seeing the raw look of fear in his eyes. I understand now, I trust him.
Just like he trusted me with his secret identity, I didn’t think he’d give up that side of him so soon, I met Batman before I met Bruce, though Batman is almost all of Bruce Wayne. I love both sides.
I love him.
                                                                             .
                                                     .
                                  .
“The Riddler, he’s planning something, something big. I’m not sure what it is yet” he groans out fighting through the pain of recovery after having his arm popped out of its socket. I had to force him to put something on it after he swore he didn’t need anything.
“Lemme take a look” you offer, “Maybe some fresh eyes could help”, I reach for the straw-colored folders based on the recent killing manic the Riddler. He’s been terrorizing Gotham for a week by torturing Government officials gruesomely in public.
He grabs my wrist fast but gently, “No” he softly mumbles. He barely makes eye contact with me as he says this. This action forces me to drop the folders back onto his desk, “It’s too dangerous”.
Is it too dangerous to look at the evidence?
“Bruce, I’m not a child, and how the hell is looking at the evidence dangerous?” I begin to slightly raise my voice getting tired of the sheltering I have been getting for months. I get his obsessive control for my safety but, this is getting tiring. He stands up after my response, he straightens his posture towering over me but I don’t back down.
I don’t like this tense energy I just created, I hate arguing with him. I try to soften the mood, by gently placing my hand on his face, pushing past his emotional wall, and embracing him in a hug, “God I love you Bruce” I sigh out in his damp hair, and he returns this hug letting his arms rest above my butt. “I don’t want you involved in this at all”.
“Bruce listen-” I try to get out but he abruptly cuts me off, “I know y/n, I know I've been sheltering you and in a way, keeping you hostage. But-” he pauses, taking a shaky deep breath before continuing. I can tell that being this vulnerable is hard for him, it’s no secret that Bruce is not the most…emotionally expressive person. “But, If anything would happen to you, I'd die”
Oh my god.
“Emotionally I’d be dead, the weight of Gotham would have finally broken me if anything, and I mean anything wore to happen to you. Then Gotham would really get dark” the tone of his voice shakes me to my core, the hair on my arms stands up and a cool shiver sends shock waves up and down my spine. He speaks in a cold and cryptic tone, his words become thick and throaty as he thinks about the possibility of something happening to me as he continues spewing out his feelings.
Bruces Vision:
The image makes him sick, him not being able to reach you in time and seeing your duead body behind yellow police tape with your corpse being covered by a thin white sheet. The sound of the reporter's camera shutters begins to slow down, as does everything in this vision: the voices of those reporters asking to get more information on what just happened begins to slow down, the heavy beating rain around him slows down, and his blood pumping heart slows down.
End of Bruce’s Vision:
Everything in this sick vision that replays in Bruce’s head begins to slow down.
“Bruce” You put your hand on his shoulder when you realize his mind is no longer present, “Hmm” he hums as his eyes begin to focus back on reality.
A reality where you're still alive, and warm, and still the love of his life.

Bruce gets the notification just as he leaves for a lunch meeting. He's not exactly foaming at the mouth over the meeting, so he doesn't mind the quick detour. There's an empty conference room just two steps away. No one's going to be questioning Brucie Wayne for being a little late after all.
As he unlocks his phone, he expects a text from Selina or Alfred. There's likely some appointment or date he's missing, he supposes. But to his great pleasure, he finds a notification for a new YouTube video.
He rushes to click on it, barely even reading the title that teeters off from how long it is.
The first thing that loads is a scream that follows a close-up of Jason's face. The next moment, the shot is entirely submerged in water. Jason swims to the surface, hair wet but sporting an ear-to-ear grin.
Bruce feels himself smiling just the same.
"Get in here, Roy! Don't back out now!"
"I'm the cameraman!" Roy shouts from the top of the cliff Jason just jumped off of.
"I'm getting Roy to join me this weekend. Mark my words," Jason says conspiratorially to the camera.
The video jump cuts to Jason and Roy in their hotel room. Bruce immediately recognizes the view. He and Damian video-called while Jason was staying in this very room. This must be from three weeks ago. Jason was entirely mum about what he was doing in Croatia, however. "You'll have to watch our video," he teased.
Bruce can't say he's entirely happy about seeing his son do extreme sports. Much less that he's filming it all for content online. But he will admit that he's grateful that he gets to see Jason so carefree and enjoying his life to the fullest.
Maybe he'll even make a trip out to visit the boys' next destination. He'll say that it's completely by coincidence, of course. He's got a multitude of excuses to choose from. Bruce just... he just misses his son, and Jason and Roy aren't scheduled back in Gotham for another few months.
He and Oliver were more than happy to let the boys mess around the world and travel, expanding their horizons. Somehow, recording these videos for their families to watch ended up becoming a pretty popular YouTube thing for them. Roy's a magnificent filmmaker and Jason's got next to no fear with every new adventure they try.
Bruce sighs. He'd still like to see his son more often. Selina calls it 'empty nest syndrome', but he staunchly denies it. He'd just like to have a full house again rather than just a few kids coming in and out of the manor.
"I'll do that thing you like if you jump with me," Jason says with half-lidded eyes.
Roy laughs and pushes Jason's face away from him.
"Come on, babe. Our families watch these videos!"
"Hey," Jason shrugs. "You're the one editing these bad boys."
Jason sneaks in a quick peck before making his move. He wraps his arms around Roy from behind and pushes them both over the cliff. Bruce figures that Roy's screams alone would've caused a tsunami.
"The equipment!"
"They're waterproof!"
Bruce chuckles as he continues watching. He remains in awe over the drone shots over the ocean and beach. They play alongside Jason's clear narration over the b-rolls. It gives the video an almost professional television quality to it. Bruce might recommend some voice-acting work for Jason when he returns. He has some talent for it.
"Mr. Wayne," he pauses the video as his head snaps to the door opening. "You have a lunch meeting with Mr. Kord."
"Of course, I'll be a minute. Thank you."
Checking the video's runtime, he decides that he can watch the rest of it on the way home. In the meantime, he sends Jason a message asking him where he'll be next week. Maybe he'll even take one of the other kids with him.

Bruce had just finished lubing up your ass after spending a little while stretching it with just his fingers and tongue, letting his fingers delve in once again as he made sure that he applied enough lube, eager to please you in any way that he could as he held onto your every command and followed it with a certain excitement; his cock was aching to be buried in your ass, and when you finally bent over the bed, he thought that his time had, at last, arrived.
“Come on, then,” you wiggled your ass a little, waiting for him to hold onto your hips and gently ease himself into you before you pushed back. “Oh, fuck, that’s it.”
Slowly, he started to thrust into you, but when you demanded that he go faster and harder, he was once more eager to please, starting to pound into you; praises fell from your lips, and he couldn’t help but to moan each time, watching how you grabbed the bed sheets tightly and moaned his name. Bruce loved to submit to you, to let you boss him around and tell him what to do, probably even more than he loved to hear you praise him, to call him your good boy. He could actually let himself loose, to give up some control.
“Is this okay?” He asked, his voice a mere whine as you pushed your ass back and gave a good roll of your hips.
“Yeah, this is good,” you moaned, only spurring him on. “Fuck, keep hitting that spot! Good boy!”
Bruce stuttered out a harsh growl as he continued to pound into you, filling your ass with his cock so much that you couldn’t even think of anything else; he was truly buried inside of you, and you couldn’t have been happier about it, either. You both had the safeword well and truly cemented, Leopard, and you both knew that you could use it if need be.
“Fuck, harder!” You yelped, and when he picked up the pace and started fucking you so roughly that you lurched forward with each thrust, you couldn’t help but to loudly praise him - almost shouting as you felt that familiar burn that came with rough sex. “You’re being so fucking good, Bruce!”
Bruce couldn’t help but to smile, picking up the pace yet again, his grip on your hips tightening and becoming harder, his fingers digging into your soft flesh as he kept at it; with each thrust he delivered, you pushed back, and he couldn’t help but to moan and whimper your name loudly, hardly able to control himself as he fucked you into that bed, spurred on by your sweet and kind praises and the way you bossed him around. Fuck me harder, fuck me faster, fuck me deeper. He loved it, he needed it; it was better than when you choked him or pulled on his hair or made him wait for your say-so to cum. It was better than when you put him on a collar and lead and spanked his ass til it was raw and red with your handprints. He couldn’t help but to love the way you so easily dominated him.
“Please don’t make me beg, (y/n),” he whimpered, still fucking into you harshly as he licked his lips, his voice going a little hoarse.
You smiled into the mattress as you leaned your sticky and sweaty forehead against your forearms, pushing your ass back against him with each little movement that he made. “You’re being so fucking good, I think I’ll ask you when you wanna cum.”
“Please,” he whined, the word spilling from his lips like a dropped glass. Flooding the room.
You loved his little whines, the way he was so fucking submissive when you were fucking him. “How badly do you wanna cum, baby boy?”
“Very,” Bruce admitted with a harsh moan when you rolled your hips a certain way. “Please, I wanna cum so badly.”
You couldn’t say no to him, not when he was so fucking close to begging for you let him fill your ass with his cum, so you rolled your hips again, and chuckled. “You can cum when you’re… oh, fuck… when you’re ready.”
You had to admit, you weren’t far away from it yourself, and when he started rutting into you, his pace getting sloppy and a little messy, you could feel yourself start to cum alongside him; using his release to chase your own until you could feel yourself finally cumming as he filled your ass, your eyes rolling into the back of your head as you let out strings of stuttered praises, spurring him on until he was putting his hands either side of your head and panting heavily, completely spent.
“Oh, you’re so fucking good,” you praised with a soft hum. “So fucking good.”

You’ll Just Have to Trust Me (Batman Oneshot)
Tumblr media
Requested by: Anonymous
Summary: Bruce returns to Gotham as Batman and runs into an old flame.
Word Count: 766
Disclaimers/Warnings: Minor cursing
A/N: Alright, Anon! I didn’t forget about you! And I’ll be honest here… I haven’t watched Gotham, yet. It’s been on my watchlist. I had to do a bit of research for this. Hopefully, the basics are right. There is also a twist on this prompt. It just felt right. Hope everyone enjoys!

“Get out of my way!” you growled at the Dark Knight as your gun clattered to the ground and slid out of your reach.
He remained silent, choosing to focus on your familiar onslaught of kicks and punches when his wordless demeanor angered you further. Even after ten years of being apart, he could still read you like an open book — Angry, hotheaded, too quick to act. The only thing that had really changed was how hard your hits landed and how much faster they had grown. Unfortunately for you, that is where his skills had grown as well. Each block and kick only made your fury burn hotter.
Then, just like old times, you caught him by surprise.
“You don’t know what that bastard did!”
While he managed to evade your sudden crouch and swipe at his feet, your continued momentum twirled you back around and up, and your shoulder slammed into his stomach. It wasn’t enough to cause damage, but there was enough force to send him stumbling backwards. You took full advantage of that split moment, and Batman found himself flat on his back.
As if understanding you would not be able to take much more hand-to-hand combat against the vigilante who has easily handled multiple gang members, you swung around and headed for your firearm again. As if Batman was going to allow that. He threw a Batarang spiraling towards your gun, earning your screech as your weapon slid even farther away. He hopped to his feet and made a dash for you. Wrenching your arm behind your back, he shoved you face first into a wall with most of his weight to pin you in place.
“I know exactly what he did,” he scowled into your ear.
The door leading out of the warehouse banged shut. Your target had finally fled the scene.
You snarled, desperation laced in your anger, “No… No, you don’t understand!”
Batman grunted against your fierce struggle.
“I understand more than you think.”
“Then, why?! Why let him go free?! He’ll only kill again! Destroy more families!”
He could hear your voice starting to break as your walls crumbled. That was something he had admired about you in school before he left Gotham. You were always so passionate. It was one of the reasons he asked you out on a date despite how you had punched him the ribs, nearly cracking one, only moments before for being in the one percent.
“So you don’t become a murderer like him,” Batman breathed, his voice juxtaposing how roughly he was restraining you.
Your movement stilled as your breaths grew slow and hoarse. When your limbs were lax, Batman loosened his grip and turned you around to face him. He was greeted by a rare teary sight that shattered his heart. If only he had been able to take you with him when he left to learn from Ra’s al Ghul. Maybe you wouldn’t have gone down this path.
Without thinking, he pulled you forward, cradling your form against him. “Just let it out,” he whispered.
That was when your emotional mask fell away. He held you even tighter as your arms wrapped as much as they could around him. The only time you had ever done this was in one of the backrooms at the funeral home holding your family’s wake. Bruce was the only one to see you cry. And just like then, he would hold you for as long as you needed.
He didn’t dare speak again until your sobs calmed.
“I will ensure he is brought to justice,” he said as he rubbed your back as soothingly as one could with gloves.
You pushed back and shot him a half-hearted glare. “Justice did nothing when he killed my family. What makes you think this last family will make a difference?”
“You’ll just have to trust me,” he echoed words from the past, back when you were convincing him to sneak onto Gotham Academy’s roof when the full moon was reaching its peak.
He must have spoken just right. Your eyes widened, mouth hanging agape, though only for a moment. “You…” you trailed off.
As if coming back to your senses, you suddenly straightened and smacked his chest, hurting yourself more than anyone.
“I’m coming with you,” you demanded.
You headed towards the door, pointedly ignoring your firearm on the floor. Were you actually going to do this his way?
Batman’s hand gently curled around your wrist. “How do I know you won’t try to kill him again?”
“You’ll just have to trust me.”

Call it Echolocation
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Bat obsessed!GN Reader
Request: Long request - Bat obsessed!reader discovering the batcave and Bruce’s identity as Batman
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 715
A/N: ik the request was not for battinson but i’ve been thinking ab him so it def comes off as him 😭 very sorry ab that
When you toss and turn in the dead of night, Bruce is rarely next to you. He clambers in beside you when the clock strikes an unholy hour, but soon after you close your eyes, he’s gone again. It’s happened one night too many - every night for the past two months is more than enough. Normally there’ll be a day every so often where he doesn’t. You know what he’s like, closed and secluded, so you’ll never pry. But curiosity might as well be your fatal flaw, so you slip out the covers and let your bare feet hit the cool ground.
It’s dark in the manor, and your eyes take a moment to adjust to its abyss. Faintly, there and gone, you can see Bruce’s silhouette dipping round a corner. You know you need to keep your distance - he’s far too assertive for you to trail closely behind. So keeping your distance is exactly what you do, tiptoeing down halls and turns, trying to keep a gaze on the merged shadow of his body.
When he begins to head down the staircase, you have to stop yourself muttering a cuss. There’s no way you’re going to manage to clamber down those century-old stairs without them making a deafening creak. You walk heavily anyway, it’s a wonder he hasn’t already turned around. You think that maybe he’s just amusing you, letting you think you’re stealthy when he’s well aware you’re tailing him. You entertain the thought whilst Bruce makes careful paces, and soon enough he’s walking with purpose.
Your fingers trace, absentmindedly, over the outline of the bat on your t-shirt. It’s worn and stained, and the plastic vinyl material of the design is mostly faded, but it brings you comfort and, for some odd reason though you more than welcome it, it brings you courage now. So you brave the stairs, and they creak, little and often. But quietly, and that is a small mercy.
When you catch up to him again, hidden behind a wall, you see him fiddling with the grandfather clock. Within seconds, it swings open to reveal a shadowy rift, which he enters and descends, becoming cloaked entirely in darkness. You sense the “door” about to close, and rush towards it before it can do so, squeezing into the dark.
The stairs that proceed you are illuminated at the sides in a gleaming blue-white, made out of a metallic charcoal grey material. You can feel your stomach twist into knots somewhat as you descend, each step becoming less visible; until, at last, you step down onto a cool rock floor. As you gaze upwards, eyes adjusted to the thick black smoke in the air that is the looming shadow, you are met with a wide expanse. Jagged rock and stalactite decorate the ceiling - though it is far too varied to be called that - which seems miles above. Somewhere, the dripping of water echoes, smacking the ground below it in a rapid tempo. And, best of all, hung from the various natural ledges that adorn the landscape, are dozens of bats. Their wings, leathery and the deepest black, wrap around them, and some expand to full wingspan as they screech and fly. And you cannot help but let loose a massive smile.
If there were people around, this would have been one of those embarrassing moments you don’t forget. But you can't help but let the giggle that so distinctly wants to escape do so. You’re so giddy, you hardly notice your boyfriend frozen a few feet in front of you, cowl in hands. You run up to him and take his face in your palms.
“You have bats - a cave full of bats - and you didn’t tell me?!” You yell, and he laughs, all nerves and awkwardness. And then, he plants a kiss on your forehead as you swing your arms around his neck.
“I wouldn’t have bothered trying to keep a secret if I’d known you’d react like this.” He teases, and you smile into him.
“Well, ‘World's Greatest Detective’, maybe it’s a good thing I followed you. Looks like you need some help.” You hear him mutter a soft “Yeah, maybe.” as he shakes his head, hair damp and falling over his eyes. And you agree. Yeah, maybe.

Fic idea things <3
Jason coming back to get revenge and seeing Bruce at his grave, talking to his headstone saying things like “you have a wonderful new brother, his name is Tim. I think you would’ve loved him.” And “Never tell Dick, but you were and probably always will be my favourite, Jay.” And Jason realizes oh fuck, I’m not ready for this emotional moment and I don’t even want revenge anymore. So he just continues to be Red Hood and sticks to crime alley until the Bats (Bruce, Tim, Dick, etc) get kidnapped and he’s like, oh fuck, now I HAVE to deal with this emotional bs.
Bruce just immediately hugging Jason after he finds out his identity. Even if it’s dangerous for him to do so (Jason pointing a gun at him).
Jason’s reason for wanting to kill the Joker having nothing to do with revenge, the reality of the situation is Jason has borderline debilitating insomnia because he’s so terrified he’ll wake up back in that warehouse or the Joker will find him whilst he’s asleep.
Bruce originally not wanting Tim as his new Robin because he reminded him so much of Jason. To the point where he caught himself almost calling him Jason on multiple occasions. That’s why it took so long for them to be close.
Dick accidentally calling Tim - Jason after Jason beats the shit out of him.
Jason and Tim knowing each other before Jason dies. Jason knew Tim’s parents weren’t caring for him properly and wanted Bruce to adopt him but he didn’t get the chance to tell Bruce about Tim when he was alive.
Jason getting dosed in fear toxin and getting hallucinations of Willis whilst the other bats are around.
Bruce getting dosed in fear toxin and hallucinates burying Jason again.
Jason is always freezing bc of the whole dying thing and needs other people to keep warm, but Jason’s a stubborn bitch and it’s the middle of winter.

@emperorsfoot made me come up with a really funny idea. (sorry about the tag i can get rid of it if you want :3 )
AU where Tim sees Bruce not dealing with his grief very well after losing Jason, so he googles ways to calm down, and instead of heading to the manor and telling Bruce he needs a Robin, Tim just hands him a joint.
"You to chill the fuck out, Bruce. Batman is supposed to be Gothams protector, you can't do that if you're beating up criminals to the point of permanent injuries for an offence as little as stealing food. So, take a chill pill. Or, actually. i didn't get you any pills but i can if you want-"
Boom. Instead of gaining another Robin, Batman gains a dealer, who doesn't accept cash, but instead counts 'nights without brutal beatings' as payment.
Within three months time, Tim is fully leaning into the act and uses 90's movies as his point of reference for how drug dealers should look, sound, and act. Goodbye Bristol Boy, meet T-Dawg.

Warnings: Angst, LOTS and lots of angst, self-hate, Bruce Wayne’s destructive thoughts, parental issues, mommy issues and hell daddy issues too, very sad in general, I’m sorry in advance, fluff toward the end

I won’t guarantee another one-shot soon but I will promise you it will be an Al Ghul!Reader! So be on the lookout!! Anyway, keep in mind this Bruce is very much canon Bruce Wayne who is allergic to affection. I hope you enjoy lovelies)
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Coming back from work and seeing your family look at you like you were an alien was definitely...shocking. And yet right there they were.
After not seeing your family in the kitchen once you arrived home. you immediately went down to the Batcave.
Walking down the steps and approaching your husband with a smile you didn’t even hear Barry’s shout  ‘Wait Y/N!’ before you embraced your love and felt him stiffen under your touch.
It seems that your action ensued silence over the room and you slowly let Bruce go and looked around the room to see your boys looking at you with obvious shock underneath their cowls and masks.
Damian looks at you with an expression you haven’t been faced with since when he first arrived at the manor. Your baby boy looking at you with suspicion and contempt was staggering. This was the first crack that formed in your heart.
Then there was Tim. Your Tim, looking at you with a guarded appearance and eyes screaming caution. Like you weren’t supposed to be there. Your boy who would immediately come to you after his night out and seek a hug. Now it was like he was looking through you, creating yet another crack in your heart.
Next was Jason whose face added to your heartbreak when he merely glanced at you. Not even sparing you an extra look as if you weren’t someone on his radar. Your Jay-bird looking at you with such indifference and lack of love.
And your first son. Your oldest looking at you with no love but concern. Not concerned for you but for his brothers. As if your mere presence was disrupting something. As if there is no reason you should be there.
No reason.
You glance back at Bruce to see him looking at you with that stare. The guarded batman stare. Now you feel dizzy. Quickly glancing towards Barry not wanting to see your Bruce looking at you like that, you face Barry with widened eyes and a flushed face.
Barry looking at you with genuine sympathy says the words that confirmed all your worst fears. “This isn't your family Y/N. They’re from a different universe”
God, you're going to be sick.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
After seeing your shocked face and the uncomfortable, suffocating silence in the room Barry took you back inside the manor to explain to you and Alfred what happened. Leaving your fa- leaving them in the cave.
Apparently, Barry had a run-in with reverse Flash and somehow your family was sucked into a wormhole transporting them into another universe while taking a version of your family in that universe here. in your universe..... It was all very confusing and devastating to hear and you shed a few tears.
You had to have asked Barry a dozen questions about this other universe about where they could be, how this happened, and most importantly, how you were going to get them back. Barry told you that he and the league are figuring it out and will find them and you believe him.
So here you are sitting at dinner with a different version of your family in silence. It actually makes you want to cry.
Right now the boys would be telling you and Bruce about their day and catching you both up on their lives. Instead, they’re looking down at their plates while awkwardly glancing at you and hurriedly glancing away once you make eye contact with them.
It’s horrible.
And don't even get started on Bruce, that man has made a point to not even glance at you the entire duration of dinner. Just sitting there with a blank face and clearing his throat every few minutes.
It’s horrible.
Having enough of the silence (felt like knives in your back not being able to talk to your family) you clear your throat and immediately all their eyes shoot towards you.
Flushing from the attention your smile hesitantly chooses to try and talk to them instead of silence. They are still your family. They’re still your boys and husband. You’re just not their person right now. And until you can see your family again (you will see them again) you still care for these people and will do anything to make sure they are comfortable in their home.
“I- I know this is- well this situation we are in is very.... umm well it’s very”
“Weird” Dick blurts out before he can stop himself, earning a look from Bruce whose attention has been solely on you since you opened your mouth.
“Yes, Hon- I mean yes, Dick It’s very weird. But this is--- no matter what universe you all are from it’s still your home. And I don’t want you guys to be uncomfortable in your own home so if you have any questions just.... well just ask.”
the silence stretches out between you all before you hear a voice from your left.
“What exactly are you to us- I mean what are you to them?” Tim asks.
The question itself was easy to answer before but now in front of the boys who you know have got through horrible and traumatic things just the same as yours. You don’t know how they will react especially Bruce, Mr. Idontdesrvelove. (Though he’s gotten so much better with you and the kids)
“Well, I'm your guy’s mom.”
Silence. Deafening silence and then Alfred thankfully arrives, saving you from the conversation you know you’ll have to have at some point. But not today. Not when it’s so fresh.
“Miss Y/N, you do have an early day tomorrow so I think it’s all time we retire to bed. I'm sure you all are especially tired from your night.” Alfred says with a sympathetic tone you are so grateful for.
“Of course” You stand up from your chair drawing attention to you once again.
You face your......you face the boys and smile softly and bid them goodnight. Hoping that when you wake up that this is all a bad dream and Bruce will be snoring in the bed and you hear your kid's voices outside the door.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Bruce’s POV
This is all very uncomfortable. Bruce has a wife whom he’s never met in his life and who is the mother to his children.
Bruce watches you walk up the stairs to a bed that they share or he shares with you. The other him.
Ever since you hugged him in the Batcave and looked at him with eyes so tender and full of love Bruce couldn't help but feel a small amount of jealousy of....the other him. He has it all. He has children and a wife. Who loves him. He must not be as fucked up as he is. Your Bruce probably still has his parents or didn't witness their murder and has healthy coping issues. Yeah, he's envious of this other him.
Bruce looks to his kids to see them also confused staring at you. Is this what your kids have as a mother? Someone to go to for that soft and soothing guidance. How he remembers his mother was to him. He’s not just envious of the other Bruce but envious for his children. His rampant thoughts are stopped when Alfred- your Alfred speaks again.
“master...Master Bruce, I've set you up in the spare room by master Jason’s. It is ready for you to retire in whenever you see fit. Boys your rooms are... well they  are ready for you but if this manor is different ill be happy to show you the way.”
“Don't worry Alfred this manor is the same as ours” Jason speaks up for the first time since arriving.
“Very well boys if you need me I'll be in the kitchen preparing tea for Miss Y/N” Alfred takes his leave and the boys instantly start up their conversations.
“This is freaky..” Tim says while glancing at his Bruce and brothers.
“Yeah. We have a...mother in this universe” Dick hesitantly says, like saying the word ‘mother’ is all but confusing to him.
“yeah, I probably don’t get snuffed by Joker in this one” Jason offers sarcastically. Bruce closes his eyes at this and leans back in his chair. He saw Jason’s Robin costume. Identical to the one in their Batcave. Maybe this universe isn’t as good as he thought if your Bruce still couldn’t save Jason from his fate.
Damian ever the blunt kid speaks Bruce's thoughts, “Tch, I don't think so Todd. I saw your infamous Robin costume. Identical to the one in our universe” He says snidely.
“Yeah, me too evil spawn. It’s called a joke.” Jason responds while rolling his eyes.
“Boys. Enough” Bruce says with a firm tone that stops all conversation.
“Let’s go to the sitting room we have a lot to discuss.” Bruce stands up and leaves the kitchen hearing the sound of footsteps and disgruntled murmurs trailing after him.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Bruces POV
The boys and he have been talking about how to get back to their universe for a while. Bruce has made it a point to not bring up you in the conversation. Silence just ensues and awkward answers when you are brought up.
Talking with Dick about using the Batcave to contact this universes League and help get home he sees Damian get up off the chair and stride to a cabinet filled with...CDs? Damian grabs four of them and hesitantly grabs another looking at it for a second before putting it underneath the other four and walking back to the couch.
“I found CDs that have our names on them.” He announces effectively stopping all conversation and capturing all of our attention.
The silence stretches out before Dick speaks up, “Should we watch them.” When everyone is still silent he hurriedly explains himself “Well, I just mean are you curious about how the other versions of us live. Especially with Y/N”
It's silent again until suddenly Jason stands up ripping the CDs from Damian's hands (making him scramble up to get them back before Dick scolds him) and puts one in effectively shutting everyone up and their attention is drawn to the TV.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Dick’s POV
This whole day has been extremely weird and uncomfortable. Especially uncomfortable to know that another version of him has another mom. And yet as he watches the home video play out the feeling of uncomfortableness leaves and jealousy replaces it.
He watches Bruce and you record yourself making him his birthday breakfast. Something that sounds so simple and normal it makes Dick’s heart break a little.
“BRUCE STAWP!” You squeal dodging the whipped cream he tries to get on your face. “What? You can do it to me but I can’t do it to you?” your Bruce asks with a smile and whip cream plopped on his nose. “Yes, it is fair because I am the one making our son's birthday breakfast,” You say looking into the camera with a big beautiful smile. The boys and Bruce see your Bruce pick up the camera and record you putting the finishing touches on your Dick’s pancakes. “It’s six a.m love, the kid is still drooling right now” They hear Bruce say behind the camera.“Still Bruce, we need to sing happy birthday first thing in the morning!” your say with a childish whine. While balancing the tray of breakfast food and smiley pancakes in a tray.
Dick feels his throat close up and the need to run away while watching the video. This love that he sees you have for your Dick and the care your Bruce is showing is something he has never experienced since living with Bruce and yet misses. Can you miss something you’ve never had? Because this is definitely how he feels. Dick remembers the touch and love of a mother and watching this just reminds him of the feeling.
The boys watch as Bruce records you opening the door to your Dick’s room and see little dick sleeping with drool on his pillow.“God, he’s going to be embarrassed when he’s older and watches this video” they hear Bruce say with a quiet laugh. You turn and give him a fake stern look and crouch down by Dick’s bed and softly shake him awake. Your Dick slowly opens his eyes and focuses on you. His face instantly lit up and a smile breaks out on his face. “Mom!” he yells out happily pulling the covers back while you set the tray on his lap. Giving him a kiss on the cheek good morning. They hear Bruce laugh and tell Dick happy birthday while giving him an affectionate head shake. The boys and Bruce watch Dick and the two of you sing ‘Happy Birthday’, eat pancakes together, laugh and smile, and basically be a family. The video ends with Dick taking the camera from Bruce and whispering into the lens saying, “This is the best Birthday ever!” with a cheesy smile on his face.
Dick is uncharacteristically silent while everybody looks at him. He finally stands up and takes his CD out putting someone else’s in drawing their attention back to the TV.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Damian’s POV
This whole thing is ridiculous. Everyone is getting all sappy over a single woman who none of them know. Damian sees this as stupid and it quite frankly makes him angry. He already has a mother. he doesn't need to listen and watch himself with a strange woman.
And yet just like Dick, the anger turns to sadness and he also becomes jealous. Watching another version of himself receive the love and attention that Damian has only seen in movies and read in books. And yet as he watches him and his siblings fight to open presents he is reminded that he is just a kid.
Who just wants a family.
“Everyone! Everyone!” Video you calls out to your children currently fighting for presents. “Because this is Damian’s first Christmas with us he will be opening the first gift,” you say in a tone that makes all your children concede and watch Damian open one of his gifts. As you hand your Damian a gift wrapped in Christmas Robin wrapping and a black bow he immediately dives in and opens it to find a collar. Confused he looks at you and at his father to see you both smiling at him, chuckling. Your Damian watches you leave the room and come back in with a black kitten with white paws in your arms. Damian lets out a loud gasp and runs to you taking the cat in his arms. The camera zooms in on his blinding smile and his small whisper of “Thank you Ummi” to you. The boys and Damian watch as you give him a big kiss on his forehead and Bruce giving him a big hug.
The silence stretches out between the group because everyone knows that in their universe Damian doesn't receive Alfred the cat in such a memorable and sweet way.
Damian especially is just staring at the screen yearning for that motherly love. And a bad thought crosses his mind of what if they just stayed here. Damn the consequences. He wishes for this mom.
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
Tim’s POV
Tim’s always been curious and once he saw you giving an affectionate hug to Bruce and the pain that went across your face when his brothers and he looked at you with indifference.
Watching his brother's faces while they watched their home videos he was a little scared of his.
His mother has always been distant and he’s never really experienced motherly love but watching you in the home videos, he’s scared to see you with him and be consumed with jealousy like his brothers. Scared to watch you love a version of himself and not experience that love.
And yet he watches his video and is filled with that feeling anyway.
“Hellooo whoever is watching this home video!” you say with a smile. “It’s probably us sweetheart,” Bruce says popping into the frame. You hurriedly move the camera away from him and talk to the camera. “Ignore him. But today we are at Tim’s school watching him graduate!” you say with a happy squeal and turn the camera to zoom in on Tims's figure clad in his cap and gown, oblivious to your recording him. “Tim is graduating with high honors and receiving multiple awards tonight” the boys and Bruce listen to your Bruce say in an obviously proud tone. The boys watch as multiple names are called and you both politely clapping for every student. And once you hear Tim’s name you both go ballistic. While as ballistic as your Bruce could go by whistling and clapping louder than ever with a proud grin. But for you, you're screaming at the top of your lungs, on the verge of sobbing, shouting “My baby boy!” earning looks from bystanders and laughs from your husband. The video ends with your Bruce recording you giving your Tim the biggest hug and kiss on the cheek while he smiles a bashful smile and celebrates with you and his dad.
Tim’s thoughts run rampant so much that he needs to lie down. He’s never felt this bitter and angry. His Bruce didn't come to his graduation and he’s watching everything he’s ever wanted happen on screen.
It's not right and it's not fair.
Why does your family get you and they don’t?

Jason’s POV
He already knows what’s going to be on that CD. He knows how he’ll react and he knows that he mentally can’t do that right now. He can’t watch something that he died for (a mother's love) play out in front of him.
He won't do it.
“I’m going to bed” Jason suddenly announces. It's suffocating in the living room and he can’t deal with looking at anybody’s face any longer.
He doesn't stick around for an answer he just goes up to his...other his’s room. He expects to see a room identical to his but once he opens the door he sees a completely different room.
This one looks lived in. Like someone uses it. In his universe, he rarely goes into his childhood room. Too many memories and too many feelings he rather not face. But this room. There are recent pictures of him. Multiple pictures of him and his... family all happy together.
He hurriedly looks away and strips himself of his extra gear and lies on his..or his bed in silence. He feels uncomfortable very weird.
He turns on his side prepared to close his eyes and hopefully not wake up for a long time when he sees it. On his bedside table is a framed photo of you and him. He’s in front of you smiling a cheesy bright smile (missing teeth prominent in the photo) dressed in a Peter Pan costume. Your arms are wrapped around his neck with a beautiful grin on your face dressed in a Tinker bell costume.
It’s so stupid but it makes him smile like a fool because at least a version of himself finally received the love of a mother.
Something he’s yearned for all his life before joker was to have a mother in his life and the thought that he gets that in a different universe is what makes it easy for him to close his eyes and sleep that night.

Bruce’s POV
Jason just left and the suffocating silence returns.
Bruce sees Dick slowly rise from the couch and tell everybody to go to bed and something about talking more in the morning. He hears his sons rise from the couch sleepily making their way into their rooms and feels Dick linger by the doorway.
“Bruce are....are you going to bed?” he hears the hesitance in his voice and he wonders if Dick was going to ask him a different question but stopped himself.
Isn’t that the relationship they have? Unable to communicate and ask each other what's wrong.
It’s all his fault.
If he wasn’t so scared he could have found Y/N in his life and his family would have been different.
He would have been different.
he finally finds words to answer his son, “I think...I think I'm going to stay up a little while longer.” he says while turning his profile to him.
Bruce hears him whisper a soft “okay” and walks off into his room for the night. He waits until he hears the door close, to get up off the couch and grab the CD labeled ‘Wedding’.
The mere title makes his stomach drop but he’s always been one to emotionally scar himself. He sits back down to watch the video play out. He releases a strangled sigh when he sees himself in a suit and tie.
“What does the Groom to be have to say on this lovely day” a voice Bruce recognizes as Clark says. He sees himself looking at the camera dressed to impress with a small smile on his face rolling his eyes at his friend's tone. “I'm very happy today Clark” the lucky him responds. “Oh yeah! Why might that be you think?” Your Bruce sighs, “Because I'm getting married to the love of my life Clark.” Bruce hears your Clark release an annoying ‘awwww’ that makes your bruce roll his eyes and shoo him off. He watches the video for a while and he sees the whole league there. He sees his friends as Bruce Wayne and Batman all together for you and your Bruce. He watches your friends and your Bruces friends leave sweet heartfelt messages that you both probably watched later. Alfred's message is what makes his throat constrict. “I’ve known Master Bruce since he was a little boy and I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be able to see him finally share his life with the most graceful woman on this planet. Someone who continues to amaze me with her beautiful character and who I think of as a daughter. I am unbelievably happy that my boy has met you and is going to spend the rest of his life with you. I love you both very much.” With tears building in his eyes, he sees Clark open the door to see you in a white dress with a brilliant smile. When you open your mouth to speak is when the video starts to buffer and stop.
Bruce sits up in his seat praying that the video starts to work again when it completely pauses on your face.
The video stopped working.
And maybe that is the breaking point but the tears fall and he drops his head into his hands. Shoulders shaking and gasping for breath he cries. He cries because of the life he could’ve lived. The person he could have lived it with.
He cries for the mother his kids could have had and the presence that could have helped them through their lives. His kids. His wonderful kids deserved that and he hates himself for not giving that to them.
He also hates himself for not letting himself have that.
He doesn't know how but he eventually gets up off the couch and walks to the extra room by Jason’s. He passes your room on the way and just stands in front of it. This is the room you share with him. The other him.
He wonders what it feels like to sleep in another person's arms for years. He never knew he could want something like that.
He doesn't sleep that night. Not even a little bit.

Y/N’s POV
Waking up today felt like a dream for you. You closed your eyes relishing in the warmth you expected to be there only to feel cold.
Your eyes snap open. Oh yeah, he’s not here.
They’re not here. And yet they are. They are all inside the manor in their rooms but they are not yours. They are not your boys or husband. They are versions of your kids and best friend.
But that doesn't mean you can be weird to them you scold yourself.
This is weird to them too. This woman they’ve never met in their lives claiming to be their mother and wife. You’d be freaked out too.
Right there in your bed, you swear to at least talk to your kids. Even though they are not your kids you could never not love any version of them. Getting ready for the day you walk downstairs to see them all inside the kitchen.
Immediately all their eyes draw to you and you smile at them softly. “Good Morning,” you say to them all, failing to catch Bruce’s eyes. You hear soft greetings back while getting your coffee ready.
“I’ve warmed up the car for you Miss Y/N” you hear Alfred say.
“Oh thank you! I'll be leaving in a few,” you reply back gratefully. You never wake up early enough to do it yourself. Bruce usually does it for you during the cold months.
“Where are you going?” you hear five different voices say all at once. You turn around to see them all looking expectantly at you.
Shocked that they’ve said more than three words to you. It takes you a while to reply.
“Oh, I um I'm going to work in early today, I'm an architect.” The silence and surprise in their eyes is kind of insulting. They must notice you take offense because Dick hurriedly tries to explain their shock.
“Not in an offensive way course. You seem very smart. It’s just being an architect in Gotham City. How do you find work?" he asks.
“Oh well, I usually deal with orphanages and hospitals in the city. And because it’s Gotham those are the most important buildings,” you say with a sad like chuckle.
“so you are not a vigilante?” Damian suddenly asks. The question receives looks from his brothers and father but a laugh just escapes you.
“Oh god no, the only vigilante work I do is cardio and that is enough in itself,” you say with a smart smile. They all give chuckles probably humoring you. Before you're hit with the reminder of leaving for your job
“Shoot it’s seven! I- I gotta go but call if you need anything and.. and if you guys find anything out.” You look to see them all give you a nod and bid you goodbye before you are out the door.
Progress? hopefully.

Bruce’s POV
It’s been hours since you left and now he and the kids are at league headquarters trying to get back home. And bring your family home. Even though they may not want to leave. As selfish as it is he wants to stay. Even though he knows he’s not yours he would love to feel an ounce of what it's like to be loved by you.
But because he knows you are deserving of the love back he knows he has to get your Bruce back.
Your Barry has been going on and on about the plan he has to travel through the speed force successfully bringing this universe’s bat family back and then taking Bruce’s back to their universe. Everyone crowds around to see him do it. With his boys at his side, he watches the blinding red light zoom back and forth before eventually disappearing.
His family, the league members, and himself wait silently staring out waiting for Barry to come back. To come back with their lucky counterparts.
Bruce holds his breath when he sees Barry coming back and releases it when he sees Barry....with your family. He sees the exact version of his family all release breaths of relief and immediately look for someone.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out who they are looking for.
Finally, it seems like they spot Bruce and his kids cause they all simultaneously tense up and guard their expressions. It’s staggering how alike they both look at that moment but they both know only one of them has you.
 That’s what makes them different.
They all silently watch your family embrace their friends in the league before they walk to Bruce and his children.
It’s that awkward silence again before your Bruce speaks to him.
“How is she?” Three simple words that will stick with Bruce forever.
“She’s okay. The last time we saw her she was just leaving for work.”
Your Bruce just gives him a nod and walks off. Telling his sons he’ll be waiting in the car. Bruce imagines he’s antsy to see you. He would want to speed home if he knew he had someone like you waiting for him.
He’s about to walk back to your Barry to finally go home when your Damian speaks up, “You imbeciles better not have caused any heartache to my mother. Or I will personally ask Allen to take me ba-”
“OKAY! That’s enough of you Damian. Go wait in the car with Dad.” Dick says with his hand pointed to the black car.
“But I wa-”
“Go.” This time it’s Jason and Tim telling him and Damian just rolls his eyes and walks to the car muttering insults under his breath.
Your boys turn back to face Him and his kids, and Dick tries to start up a conversation but it’s too awkward talking to another version of yourself so they bid Bruce and his family goodbye, and they watch them walk to their car. Back home to you.
And once they safely arrive back in their universe it’s weird because they know what they're missing. What they could have had.
You.

Y/N’s POV
Walking into your home your not expecting to be bombarded with hugs.
Not. At. All.
Still expecting for the other version of your family to be home or in the cave.
But you feel multiple familiar arms wrap around your waist and shoulders and you instantly know they’re home.
You almost cry out of relief when they all scream ‘MOM!’ and squeeze you extra tight.
“AHHH my baby birds! I missed you!” You squeal out wrapping your arms (or trying to) all around your boys, kissing them all over their faces, and smothering them in your arms. You feel them loosen up and get a good look at all their faces and the tears start building in your eyes. Gods, you missed them so much. The horrible thought of never seeing them again had you going throughout your day feeling horrible.
You caress the cheeks and kiss all their forehead until they're begging you to stop. and trying to escape. You look down to see Damian still cuddled up to your side and almost melt, you kiss him on the head once more.
You hear all your kids talking at once trying to listen when you see him behind them. You smile with tears running down your cheeks and your kids part away from you and you run toward your husband, crying into his chest and hugging him with all your might. You feel your Bruce instantly wrap his arms tight around your waist and tuck his head into your neck.
“I- I missed you... I missed you so much. So much” you say through tears.
“I know sweetheart. Me too. Me too.” You hear him whisper into your neck and pull his face back.
You look up to see him analyzing every aspect of your face, looking at you like you’re not real.
You instantly wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him and it finally hits you that they are home. That he’s home.
And you can finally breathe again.
BROOO I definitely got carried away lol. AHHH BUT I LOVE IT SO WHO CARES! I've had this in my drafts for months and I'm so excited to finally be posting it. I hope you all ENJOYED! LOVE YOU LOTS! Feedback is always appreciated!! <333

What If... The Bat's Answered Phantom's Phone?
Set as an AU at the end of Chapter 2 of "A Little Overshadowing Never Hurt Anyone" But can be read as an independent oneshot <3
—"What were you doing in Gotham?" The Dark Knight demanded, ignoring the ghost boy's previous comment.
"Just hanging out. I don't have any real reason to be here. Wanted to see the sights, I guess." Danny shrugged, trying to play it off. It was a lie, but he couldn't tell him anything about his parents or the ghost-hunting convention, since there could be a chance he could figure out Danny’s identity that way.
Once again, Batman's expression didn't change, just as stone-cold as ever. That was annoying. Normally Danny was really good at reading people. Especially ghosts. It was much easier for them to read each other with their cores and emotions. But with humans, it was much harder. Especially this human.
Suddenly Danny jumped at the sound of his phone ringing… and he knew it was his phone because a remix of the “Ghostbusters theme” was playing.  Danny put his head down covering his face with his hands,  He really shouldn't worry about being embarrassed while being kidnapped with a bunch of ghost tech in some eccentric white guy's creepy bat basement, yet here we are.
The only other person in the room besides Batman stood up. It was the boy in the domino mask., Robin? Wait- Weren’t there multiple now?  Danny couldn’t keep track anymore.  Either way, emo mini Bat jr, a coffee in his hand, walked over to a table filled with ghost-hunting weapons, the majority of which was his parents’ designs.  Danny felt a shiver go down his spine and pushed himself back a bit further in the cage. His fear did not go unnoticed by the boy, who glanced sideways with a frown.
He reached down and started going through the pockets of a belt that lay on the table as the phone kept blaring loudly, Danny glanced down to his waist. He didn’t even realize that they had removed the phone until just now.  Finally, the teenage boy managed to wrangle it out of one of the pockets and held it high in victory before looking at the caller ID.
“B,” The kid started.  “It’s someone named Jazz.”  Danny’s eyes widened. He knew she would be worried right now!   And what was the one thing she told him before he went into Gotham? ‘Danny, stay away from all of those Gotham vigilantes tonight — it can be dangerous.’ The phone abruptly stopped ringing, and Danny breathed a sigh of relief.  But then the boy started scrolling through the phone, or at least the lock screen. “Dozens of missed messages and three missed calls.”  He raised an eyebrow at Danny as if waiting for him to respond.
“She worries.”  Danny shrugs before rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.  Suddenly, the phone blares to life again. Danny’s ears twitch at the sound.  The ringtone starts again.
“Bring it here, Red Robin,”  Batman says, holding out his hand.  Well, at least Danny now knows his name.   He narrows his eyes at the device like it is somehow out to get him and his whole family.  Danny would have laughed at the expression if he weren’t terrified for his afterlife right now.  After a couple of seconds, it stopped, only to restart again quickly after.
“She is not going to stop until you answer!”  Danny snaps, annoyed.  Batman seems to be in thought for a moment before holding the phone in between the vigilantes and the ghost, hitting answer on speakerphone.  Danny’s eyes widened instantly, in shock that he answered it. Danny was mostly kidding, he didn’t expect the Dark Knight to really answer! Now what should he do?
“Danny, oh my word! Where are you?!! I swear to Clockwork, if you got yourself hurt or anything… I’ve been worried sick! And with all of those hunters around! I told you to be careful, and to come back soon!  You were just getting air! Please tell me you’re okay.”  Danny winced back at every part of the call, but everyone in the room had their eyes glued to the phone, undoubtedly absorbing all the information Danny just gave them.
“Jazz, Jazz I’m fine!”  Red Robin looked over at Danny as if to say, ‘You don’t look fine.’  Danny glared back his best ‘Mind your own damn business response..
“Danny, where are you?  I’ve been holding off mom and dad for as long as I can.”  Danny winced and winced hard, glancing up at the two listening into the conversation, looming over him.  “Right now they think you’re at the library, and it’s the middle of the night!”
Danny laughed nervously.  “Jazz, don’t worry, I’ll be okay, I always am.  I just got a bit lost and sensed a soul eater so I followed to find out if they were okay.  He saw Batman narrow his eyes again (if that was even possible — they should be closed at this point) at he mention of ‘soul eater’.
Danny felt slightly offended for them, but they did have a strange name.  For your information, soul eaters are just ghosts who need energy or ectoplasm to survive and make a body. They have to either take it from others or absorb it in an ectoplasm-rich environment, and if Danny has some to spare, he normally shares Soul eaters are a step above echo ghosts.  Two of the ones Danny had encountered were Spectra, who absorbed children’s emotions as a therapist to give herself a body, and Shadow, the ghost that has bonded itself to Johnny 13 in order to get as much ectoplasm as he needs in return for helping Johnny.  But enough of that rant.
“Okay, but you better be back soon okay?  Especially with all the hunters around. I don’t want you getting captured!”
Danny glanced up at the two bats and laughed awkwardly.  “Ah yeah, we don’t want that happening now.  Just don’t worry too much, Jazz; get some rest, I’ll catch up with you later.”
“You better!”  Batman then pulled his gloved finger up and pressed the hang-up button.
Danny scowled up at the man, “There, you happy?  You got all that information out of me. You seem proud of yourself.”  Danny went to lean back, but burned himself on the bars, flinching as he felt the stinging sensation on his shoulder, hissing and baring his fangs.
Batman said nothing. It looked like his little robin was about to pitch in but then thought better of it and slinked away.  Suddenly, there was a ping on Batman’s belt.  He looked at it for only a second before stating “I have to go. Red Robin, stay here.”
)-(
Danny was staring down at the floor of his cage as he now floated cross-legged just above the ground.  What was he supposed to do now? Batman was gone and Red Robin was now pacing around the cave, either doing wide circles around the cage or just pacing around the whole cave in general. It looked like he was also kind of muttering to himself. Kind of strange, but Danny did the same so who was he to judge?  But the important thing was he never let the cage out of his line of sight.  He almost felt like Danny was being hunted by a shark at the rate this guy was going.
Danny knew he needed to escape somehow.  He glanced again over all of those weapons on the desk. He needed to get out of here, and quickly He knows that even though he called, Jazz would still be worried.  But with Red Robin ever on the lookout, that would be hard.
It would be hard to rewire the whole cage, especially because Red Robin keeps silently watching him — it's kinda creepy. Danny grabbed onto his hair and pulled, unsure of what to do.  Suddenly there was a clanging sound and Danny jumped, eyes darting around until he noticed that Red Robin was staring up at him right in front of the cage. His hands were on the door.
Danny stared at him, puzzled, and tilted his head to the side, eyes glued to each other in the tense moment.  Suddenly, the boy’s hands started moving and he was unlocking the cage. Danny’s eyes widened. “What are you doing?”  He asked, still stunned that the kid had come so close.
The boy paused for a moment, thinking to himself. “Letting you out.”  The door swung open with Tim holding it and staring at the ghost expectantly.  Danny stayed where he was in the cage, floating, unsure of whether or not to trust this new opportunity.
“What about Batman, won't he be mad at you?”  Danny asked, surprised his Robin would go against him like this.
“I think…”  Red Robin paused.  “I think Batman would understand, and I think we were wrong about ghosts,  I was stupid to go along with this. Anyone who’d spend more than five minutes with you would know you are a sentient, innocent, person...  I’m sorry.”
Danny laughed awkwardly, “Wow, you're the first person to say that in a long time.”  Red Robin returned with a light smile, almost a grimace.
“Here, let's get you out of here before B gets back.”  He reached down and grabbed onto Danny's arm, pulling him out of the cage and leading him through the cave. Normally, Danny would have flinched at being grabbed, but this… wasn't so bad.
---
Tim led them through the tunnels underneath Wayne's manor to not reveal their identities, he knew the tunnels by heart and managed to make enough turns that Danny couldn't follow them back.

tick tock
Highkey dedicating this to @watercolour-carnations bc they sent me an ask about my 'danny is thomas wayne' au and singlehandedly revitalized my brainrot for it. Apparently the quickest way to a starry's heart is through their ask box
Now posted on ao3 under the name 'dniwer eht kcolc'!
In hindsight, hosting a science exhibit was probably not the best idea that Bruce has ever. This wasn't even one of Bruce's galas and, yet he was still attending because it gave him the opportunity to scope out any potential rogues (or henchmen).
Damian was by his side, and Tim was on the other side of the room, inspecting some of the other inventions under the prospect of gaining new hires for R&D at WE. Something that was not entirely false. Bruce could always use new, bright minds working to make Gotham a better place.
He was, particularly, eyeing up one moderately-sized invention that a woman with cutting blue eyes and stark white hair had covered with a white sheet. An interesting choice when everyone else had already revealed their own inventions. Drifting closer with Damian, he smiles charmingly at the scientist when they lock eyes.
"And what is this interesting contraption?" He asks, looking over the sheet as if it was the invention itself and not what was underneath.
The woman curled purple-painted fingers around the sheet, yanking it down to reveal a machine that looks like a mix of a jukebox and a grandfather clock. A long wire was attached to it, and a strange, blinking, circlet-like device connected on the other end.
Bruce's brows rose considerably, and he could sense Damian's eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"This is my Holographic Memory Machine -- the name is still a work in progress -- it's a memory machine meant to allow anyone to relive their memories right in front of them, even the ones they don't remember." The woman says with a smile, her name card reads 'Dr. Casey W. Kairos'. He's never heard of her before. An out-of-townie, perhaps?
"Interesting." Bruce's hands fold behind his back and he looks down at his disinterested son, and then back up to Dr. Kairos. It sounded harmless, but even a pencil could be harmless until enough force was put into it. "How does that work?"
Dr. Kairos walks over and holds up the strange circlet device, "The user wears this headband. It scans their brainwaves and then plays a memory of their choice right in front of them like a hologram, including any voices that came with it." She explains, showing it off to Bruce and Damian. "Would either of you like to try it? The HMM has been tested and it is completely safe."
Damian scoffs and turns to him, "This is a waste of time, father," He says, "let's move on."
"Oh, don't be like that, Dames." Bruce smiles genially, placing a hand on his son's shoulder and squeezing it. It reminds him of when his father used to do the exact same thing, and he turns to Dr. Kairos. "I can try it, Doctor."
Kairos smiles widely, looking incredibly pleased. "Come stand here then, Mr. Wayne. I can get the HMM up and working." She gestures to a spot on the floor within the circlet's range, and Bruce goes and does as told.
"Standing around and looking pretty is my specialty, Doctor Kairos." He jokes as she gets the device situated on his head. It sits on his forehead snugly, and tucks behind his ears. Kairos snorts and turns to get the machine activated.
"Father." Damian says, indignant and scowling. His arms crossed over his chest petulantly. Bruce chuckles at him.
"The Doctor said it was perfectly safe, Damian." He admonishes lightly, wagging a finger at him. "I trust the good lady to know what she's doing." Not really, but he'd rather test it out on himself if it was unsafe.
Thirty seconds passed with Dr. Kairos working on flicking on the HMM, and when it came alive it came with a low hum and a distinct, ticking like noise. "Ah, there we go." She hums, stepping away. "It's up and working, Mister Wayne. Just think of a memory and let the HMM do the rest."
"Thank you, Doctor." Bruce nods at her, and then tries to think of what to let the machine show. Nothing that would give away his identity as Batman, of course not. Nothing incriminating.
He looks to Damian, who still looked very unhappy with him. Perhaps a memory of one of his boys in the manor? Or a Brucie Wayne moment that everyone's seen. His brows furrow in thought. One of his speeches?
...No. No, he has an idea.
Immediately, the HMM begins to hum louder, the ticking drowned out by the sound of its fans kicking in. It starts drawing the attention of the other ongoers, and Damian steps to Bruce's side as a crowd begins to form.
"What is that thing?"
"What's it doing?"
"Is it safe?"
Hushed whispers scatter around them as more and more people abandon the other stalls in favor of seeing whatever spectacle was happening. Tim appears as well, pushing his way through the crowd and situating himself by Damian and Bruce.
"What's going on?" He whispers with a frown, looking between Bruce and Damian.
Damian hmphs, "Father is trying out this woman's 'Memory Machine'."
Just when Bruce is starting to think the machine doesn't work, he hears a sound that silences the spectators. A piano note. A singular note, followed by another, and another. Right before Bruce's eyes, the air shimmers, and a projection of his father sitting at the grand piano appears before him.
His breath hitches in his throat. He remembers this. He remembers this piece. It was father's favorite.
Damian and Tim are stiff at his side, and Bruce hears the crowd gasp.
There, sitting on the floor at the bench, is Bruce himself at six years old. He's resting his arms on it, and leaning his head on his arms with a look of pure adoration -- did he really look like that? -- aimed at his father.
There's no talking between them, a content silence as Thomas Wayne fills the air with his piano playing. That is-- until he stops midway through the piece, fingers stopping the keys with a abrupt jerk.
Thomas laughs, quiet and full of love, and little Bruce picks his head up with an affronted frown. "Why'd you stop? I like listening to you play."
"I know you do." Thomas says, his voice is as soothing as Bruce remembers it to be. The memory twists to look at little Bruce with a blinding smile, as if he was looking at his whole world. It's the first time in decades that Bruce has seen his father smiling like-- like that. His eyes involuntarily sting.
"But how can you hear so well when you're all the way down there?" Thomas shifts, and pats an open space on the bench. "Come sit up here, Boo. I can teach you to play."
(Thomas Wayne was always fond of pet names, he had plenty of them for Bruce, and he used them at every opportunity.)
Little Bruce perks up, "Really?" He grins, and then clambers into the bench. His father's arms wrap around him.
The voices fade as the memory slowly begins to collapse, and Bruce feels a spike of panic in his heart before the memory is replaced by another one.
He's younger, probably four years old, being sprayed down by a hose by his father. Little Bruce is squealing with laughter, trying to swat the water away like a fly, and his clothes are drenched.
Thomas is laughing as well, wearing a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He looks like he just came home from a business meeting. Bruce always thought he was old when he was little. But at four years old, Thomas Wayne is only a little over twenty. Barely an adult. He is twenty-four when he dies. He was so young.
"Stop! Stop! Stop!" Little Bruce squeals, trying to run out of the line of fire, but Thomas Wayne has a sharp eye, and the hose in his hands follow Bruce no matter where he goes.
Until finally Thomas drops the hose and runs towards Bruce, who is trying to recover from being sprayed down with ice cold water. Thomas reaches him before he has time to move, and scoops him up in his arms.
He is laughing loudly and boisterously, spinning them both around as Bruce clings to him for dear life, laughing with him. The memory fades away, and Bruce feels like there are hands around his throat trying to choke him.
A new one shows up, one he doesn't remember at all. His father is younger than before, a teenager, and he's holding a tiny bundle in his arms. He looks like he's on the verge of tears, hunched over it like a shield.
Someone, a girl with gothic attire, peers over his shoulder. "Gosh, Tom, a baby? That's a lot of responsibility." She says, dark-lipstick lips painted downwards in a frown. "And right after you've disowned your parents too?"
Another boy looks around Thomas with a similar frown and an uncertain look, "Yeah man, I'm with Sam on this one -- for once. You don't even have anywhere to live."
Thomas doesn't look like he's even paying attention, utterly smitten with the baby -- its himself, Bruce realizes -- he's cradling. "Look at him though, guys," he breathes, "he's so tiny. Have you seen his little watercolor eyes?"
(Watercolor eyes. Bruce had long since forgotten about that nickname his father gave him. hearing him say it is like a punch to his stomach.)
"You named him Bruce?"
Bruce huffs to himself, an involuntary smile twitching at his mouth as the memory dips again and cycles through another memory he recognizes.
The memories it shows are sporadic, with no chronological order to them other than each and every one is a happy one.
Bruce playing piano with his father.
Bruce stargazing with his father.
Bruce being carried on his father's shoulders.
Bruce getting ready for a gala with his father.
Bruce in the kitchen helping his dad make breakfast (there's pancake flour smeared on his cheek).
Bruce making a snowman with his father.
An apology between Bruce and his father in the form of a piano duet.
There are even a few memories he doesn't remember. Some of them are when he's old enough to, but many are when he's a baby. Some are before his father was adopted by the Waynes, when the only thing on their backs was a raggedy backpack and an oversized sweatshirt, and Bruce's baby blanket. And some are after, where he's sitting in an antique rocking chair bottle feeding Bruce with a look of sheer adoration on his face.
That look never seems to go away, ever, in any of the memories.
Finally, the HMM settles on a final memory, one that makes Bruce's blood run cold and snaps him out of his nostalgic revelry. His father is getting ready in his room, and Bruce comes barreling in with his own suit-and-tie.
"Dad! Dad! Dad!" He chants, running to Thomas, who whirls around and picks him up seamlessly. They spin twice before Thomas settles in front of the mirror, Bruce on his hip as he adjusts his tie with one hand.
"Yes, boo?" Thomas grins, wide-splitting with his shock-blue eyes looking at Bruce in the reflection. He and Bruce have the same eyes. It's shocking how much they look like each other, now that Bruce was older.
Little Bruce makes a dramatic face, a look that only lasts a few seconds before he remembers his excitement. He wiggles in Thomas' arms, "You gotta hurry up! Or we'll be late to the movie!"
Bruce's fingers dig into his palm, and he can vaguely feel his sons' looking at him. There's a feeling of impending doom square in the center of his lungs, and he forces himself to look on.
Thomas laughs, and nuzzles Bruce's cheek. "The movie isn't going anywhere, chum, I promise." He says, before setting him down. Little Bruce pouts, his lower lip sticking out. "I know how much you've been looking forward to this."
"Can you help me with my tie then?" Bruce asks, and looks at his own, sloppily done tie around his neck. "I can never get it right."
And, of course, Thomas Wayne kneels down to redo it. He always did everything Bruce asked or wanted. He measures it, loops it, and then knots the tie perfectly.
"There." He says, and smoothes out Bruce's little jacket, smiling in adoration. "Now go play, I'll call you when it's time to go."
And Bruce does just that, running out of the room with a yell of, "You better promise!"
"I promise!" Thomas yells back, laughing at his son as he turns back to the mirror.
The memory shimmers, and changes to as they're leaving. And then and there does Bruce call it quits. His eyes are glistening, his tears nearly blinding him with the swelling, overwhelming grief in his heart. He looks away, and tries to find Doctor Kairos.
(He doesn't see her switch something on the side of the machine. There is no noticeable difference in the machine, but on the inside a time rune starts to glow.)
"I think I'm done here, Doctor." He says once he can find his voice without it shaking. He can't hide the full crack and tremble laying beneath it, but at least he doesn't cry. He's almost forgotten that he had a silent audience.
Doctor Kairos nods and steps forward, reaching for the headband. "The memories should cut off once I take this off, Mister Wayne." She says, and fiddles with it for a moment. Behind her, the memory of himself and his father are walking outside. "I hope that wasn't too much for you?"
(The ticking of the machine grows louder, and the memory glitches.)
"No, no." Bruce assures with a smile that wasn't all Brucie Wayne yet. He looks down when he feels Damian's hand curl around his, and his son leans into his side. His smile softens, and he presses Damian closer. His other arm finds itself over Tim's shoulders as well, pressing him to his side.
"It was fine. Actually, it was an honor to be the first to try out your memory machine. I'm sure it will help many people." He tells her. She smiles slyly, and slides the headband off his head.
"That's what I'm hoping for, Mister Wayne." Doctor Kairos places the headband onto the table. The memory hasn't disappeared, Bruce notes with a furrow of his brows. And the audio has muffled slightly.
"I thought you said that the memory would cut off when the headband was off?" He asks. Kairos looks at him, and then behind her at the memory. She frowns.
"It should have--"
Little Bruce suddenly frowns, and looks away from Thomas. "Do you hear that?"
Bruce frowns. "I don't remember this." That wasn't in his memory. They just went straight to Monarch Theater without any issue.
Thomas looks down at his son, "What noise?" He asks, squeezing Bruce's hand. His head cranes, as if trying to hear whatever noise Bruce was hearing.
"That ticking sound." Bruce's frown deepens, "It sounds like your clock, dad."
Thomas' immediately frowns, looking so strikingly like Bruce that he marvels for a moment. He looks around as well. "...You're right. I hear it too." He steps a little closer to Bruce, his hand tightening around his.
A sense of unease fills Bruce's lungs. "What's going on?" He asks, taking a step away from the memory. This was different. This isn't his memory.
"I'm not sure." Doctor Kairos says, and her unsurety sounds so practiced and calm that Bruce's suspicion levels to her immediately. His boys look at her too with the same unease. "This wasn't supposed to happen."
She strides around the memory to the side of the machine just as a gold symbol appears on the ground. It looks like a giant roman clock, and a loud, clunky ticking fills the room.
The memories see it too, and Bruce's heart drops to his feet as he and the rest of the crowd back away from it. "Dad, what is that?!" Little Bruce exclaims, a look of fear morphing across his face as he suddenly clings to his dad's leg.
Thomas looks pale, looking at his feet and gripping little Bruce to him protectively. "I don't-- I don't know, Bruce."
(A memory that Bruce doesn’t have is his father arguing with a man named Clockwork. He does not see the man named Clockwork all but beg Thomas not to go out tonight.)
("Does something happen to Bruce?" His father asks the ghost.)
("No," the man says, "but--")
("But nothing, Clockwork." Thomas, once Danny, says firmly. "My son has been looking forward to this all week. I'm not going to crush his hopes by changing my mind last minute.")
("Thomas, please.")
("Look, if something happens tonight, I will handle it, okay?" Thomas assures him, a hand atop Clockwork's shoulder with a small smile. "I promise.")
(And then he leaves, Clockwork defeated in his wake.)
(Clockwork has seen this boy grow up from the shadows, and now he can do nothing to stop his fate like he once did before.)
The strange, clock-like circle, something intrinsically magic, begins to glow. The minute and hour hands tick faster and faster. Little Bruce holds onto his father like a lifeline, and Thomas Wayne crouches down to hold his son tighter, protectively.
Bruce Wayne turns away just as the light grows blinding, tucking Tim and Damian into his chest like a human shield. There is yelling and screams as the crowd tries to stampede away from it.
Bruce has no idea what this light will do, but he'd rather die than let his sons get hurt.
The light burns his eyelids even when he isn't facing it. And when it dies without even a burn across his back, Bruce slowly unfurls. His hands stay on his sons' shoulders, keeping them close to him, and he peers over his shoulder.
There on his knees, is Thomas Wayne, curled protectively around eight year old Bruce Wayne, much like Bruce had been. Bruce holds his breath, and his sons slowly unfurl themselves as well and peer around him.
Thomas Wayne is frozen in place for one second, two seconds, three. And then he begins to move. First, the tension drains out of his shoulders, and his head jerks, as if surprised that nothing has happened.
He looks up, his eyes open, and he and Bruce make eye contact. Bruce cannot breathe, and he cannot believe the sight before him. It's just the memory machine breaking. (Doctor C.W Kairos is nowhere to be found.)
And then recognition flickers in his father's face as his panting slows and quiets. His head tilts to the side like a fawn's, a familiar wrinkle appearing before his brows.
"Bruce?"

the way your gummy and wet walls are gonna stretch to take him, the way you’re gonna tighten around him like a vice as he whines and whimpers when he pumps into you.
— "Fuck, shit, you're so tight" — He grunted, the thrusts were going faster, his movements were so strong that you couldn't help but moan loudly from the pleasure that was overwhelming you, your moans echoing throughout the room. You hope Alfred or Damian doesn't hear your loud moans.
How did you get to this? Your husband now fucking you like he was a wild animal in heat, well that was because because he came to the manor with stress, entering the batcave. He had just arrived from an investigation, he still has not solved the case, and there are more missing people, it is only known that there is a murderer on the loose out there in Gotham.
He arrived so stressed that he literally threw his mask on the table and left the Batcave, just saying one something to Alfred — "No" — and he went to his shared room where you were, his wife, he needed you now.

—"Bruce, y-you're going too fast" — You stuttered but your voice was silenced when his lips crashed onto yours, swallowing all your words and moans from you, his tongue sliding into your mouth, you couldn't help but let out a soft moan. You closed your eyes tightly, you couldn't do anything because your wrists were now over your head, tied with a scarf that he found in the room while he was fucking you.
— "Shhh, shut up" — he growled, his hand rose to slap one of your buttocks, you moaned loudly, arching your back upwards, you gasped, surprised by his act, you were blushing, small tears betrayed themselves in the corners of your eyes. — "Who is my little bitch, tell me? Tell me who you belong to" — He said while his thrusts were accelerating.
— "You! "I am yours my love!" — You moaned loudly as you climaxed, coming on his thick cock. Bruce smiled along with a moan of pleasure as he felt your walls tighten around his cock. He continued thrusting into you until he reach the climax.
He let out a grunt of pure pleasure, his fingers went to your center, gently rubbing your clit, you gasped and moaned, writhing beneath him as he pulled his cock inside of you.
Suddenly you felt Bruce's hand grab you, turning you back, leaving you on all fours and your pretty ass exposed to him, he couldn't help but give another spank towards that pretty ass of yours, making you moan. You opened your eyes, surprised to know what Bruce was going to do. — "Bruce w-wait that's going to hur-" — You couldn't finish the sentence when his cock slid hard into you, you screamed loudly as you felt his big cock in your little hole, it hurt a lot.
— "I'll make you moan my name all night" — He growled before starting to move.
