thoughts on the new chapter? you said before spinneraki is a pillar in the story and i think this chapter continues to be evidence of that
Tumblr media
For these two anons who asked for them, have some Chapter Thoughts, 411-version. Herein can be found two big chunks of musing about, respectively, OFA & Shigaraki and the Shigaraki+Deku+Spinner confluence, as well as the usual handful of stray thoughts.
(I'm also going to throw in a few last minute thoughts about plot events between here and the last chapter I had a post on, Chapter 392. They'll be off-the-cuff and not comprehensive; feel free to send an ask if there's anything specific you're curious about, though I can't at this time promise e.g. the twelve thousand word essay on why the AFO vs. All Might fight sucks rocks.)
Chapter Thoughts — Chapter 411: History's Greatest Villain
OFA Vestiges vs. Shigaraki Tomura
Shinomori remains my favorite OFA bearer by a large margin; I enjoy how his quirk allows him to be the one bearer with his act together this chapter.  I also like that him being the vestige that actively chooses to sacrifice “himself” for the good of the rest of One For All makes a nice bookend with my preferred headcanon that he was the bearer who had the power forced on him against his will.      That said, it is a bit ironic that Danger Sense surely had to rank right up near the top of OFA quirks that it’s most dangerous for Deku to lose to Shigaraki!  Like, throw Shigaraki En or something; Smoke Screen’s not going to let Shigaraki do anything Deku can’t counter with Danger Sense!  Sacrifice Nana; Deku and Shigaraki both already have ways to keep aloft enough.[1]  So I appreciate both the display of Shinomori’s instinctive heroism and the dramatic choice to deprive Deku of such a key component of his defense, after god knows how many chapters of dramatic choices I pretty much hate across the board.      1: That said, it does look like the person Shinomori shoved most directly out of the way was Banjo, his own successor, which speaks to their bond and also spares Deku losing a crucial quirk, as Black Whip has been his main way to exert any control at all over the battle with Shigaraki and is also helping keep his arms braced.  As someone who wanted those humerus consequences after the first war, I say, “Go, Shigaraki, go!  Get the Sixth next!”
My god, the rest of them are such a mess this chapter.  Very funny, actually.  Shaking my head at them in there talking about how to “bring down” Shigaraki, who they know good and well Deku wants to help.  “Our entire reason for still existing!”  No, Bro Bro, you existed solely to take down All For One, which Bakugou et. al. have neatly taken care of for you.  The only other purpose ever given to you was to save people, but I guess you’ve already forgotten that.      Seriously, I love the discord this chapter, the panic and fear, particularly from the youthful En—watching that unified will crumble in the face of Shigaraki’s hatred is a wonderful balm to all the times I had to suffer through seeing commenters elsewhere on the internet blithely taking it for granted that One For All could never be stolen just because All Might said it was so, laughing it off when Ujiko promised Shigaraki otherwise.  My villain fan agenda aside, though, it’s also a rare highlight for Deku that I like, which I’ll circle back to.
Regarding Shigaraki with Danger Sense, I know there was some discussion of whether he’d be able to fully utilize it against Deku when Deku wants to “save” him.  As giving Deku that out would have been the story yet again undermining the villains’ fairly won victories (and as Danger Sense has been so wildly inconsistently written that Horikoshi could have gotten away with practically anything), I’m pleased to see it’s working as intended!  That said, you probably could have some interesting discussion of exactly whose “intent” Danger Sense is picking up on.  Deku may want to help Shigaraki, but e.g. Banjo, Bruce and Kudou certainly don’t seem to want that!  Given how explicitly Kudou was synonymizing quirks and wills back in Chapter 369,[2] and particularly given that Shigaraki can perceive the vestiges now, it wouldn’t surprise me if their wills are bleeding over into Deku’s usage of their quirks.      2: I.e. the “gaslighting the readership about the historical usage of meta-ability terminology” chapter.
I do wonder if this is set-up for Shinomori—and potentially other quirks as well, including any more OFA vestiges Shigaraki manages to snag!—giving us a tired retread of the “quirk vestiges mount a resistance against their unrightful bearer at a critical juncture” moments we saw with AFO, but I suppose that’d be what Shigaraki gets for trying to steal bits of OFA after saying previously that he didn’t care about it.  (Sigh.)

Deku, Spinner, and Shigaraki Tomura's "Personhood"
I appreciate Deku pushing back against Shigaraki’s dehumanization, though it does not escape me that he directs that pushback to Shigaraki himself, not any of the voices inside Deku’s head calling Shigaraki calamity and ruin incarnate, and certainly not any actual humans on his side in the real world.  It smacks of the same pattern heroes always fall into of leaping to castigate villains for things they tacitly ignore in their own allies.  Still, it is at least spoken aloud, and to Shigaraki’s face, which is a pleasant change.
I swear to Christ, if after all this time Spinner becomes a bridge between Shigaraki and Deku after all, I am going to be so damn smug.  Albeit in different contexts, I called that years ago, and lo and behold, here we have Shigaraki, accused of having no friends, self-dehumanized, and depersonalized by Deku’s allies, immediately refute the point by bringing up his best friend of his own volition, tying his destruction to someone outside of himself.      While Deku hasn’t connected the dots on-page yet, he certainly can’t have missed it, though it remains to be seen how much about Spinner Deku actually knows/remembers from their encounter at the training camp—that encounter long being an important part of my reasoning that Spinner could, via his and Deku’s shared respect for Stain and desire to help Shigaraki, find some common ground.      Moreover, we get Deku flashing to Uraraka—as well he should!  Since Uraraka is the only one who managed to unearth some empathy for her designated villain foil without a familial or fated connection to them, she deserves to feature prominently in Deku’s attempts to connect with his own opposite number.
I do wonder if we will yet get a flashback to the mall scene.  Honestly, Deku could have kickstarted his connection to Shigaraki all the way back then, when Shigaraki functionally laid his damage out in front of Deku like fine china, only for Deku to grab the first excuse anyone gave him to write it off and forget about it.  The story could probably get away with not reminding the readers of that—after all, Shigaraki hasn’t really changed his grievance since then, just expanded his invocation of blame!  His monologue at Jakku is just a refined version of what he said at the mall encounter, so the only reason to flash back to the less developed take is to have Deku vocalize that he could (and should!) have been wondering about Shigaraki as “a person, too” this whole time, instead of only coming to do so after their mindscape encounter.      Acknowledging the gaps in Saint Deku’s Miraculous Saving Instincts would go a long, long way towards softening me on the narrative BNHA’s been trying to sell me on its main character.
Anyway, three cheers for Spinaraki; they never fuckin’ lose, do they?  It’s particularly gratifying in light of the way people on Twitter were speedrunning the shift from dismissing Spinner as unimportant to criticizing him as “toxic” as it became more and more clear that saving Shigaraki was going to be more complicated than just dealing with AFO.  People really thought that if Deku could just lay all the blame for Shigaraki’s anger at AFO’s feet, then he could just wipe it away, eradicating “Shigaraki Tomura”—who was never really a person anyway, just fifteen years of grooming and coping mechanisms—and leaving behind only sweet, innocent, undemanding Shimura Tenko.      But if Shigaraki was carrying anger for others, blame for wrongs that couldn’t be attributed to AFO, suddenly that narrative got messier.  Suddenly the League needed to be Bad For Each Other, needed to be separated for their own good, redeemed by the grace of their designated student foils—and nowhere was that trickier than with Spinner, who didn’t have one, and whose every flashback post-war made it clearer and clearer that he had a relationship with Shigaraki that went beyond the League’s stated purpose as an alliance of Villains to bring down Hero Society.      The tidier version of the story would still be salvageable if Shigaraki didn’t really care about Spinner more than anyone else in the League, if Spinner’s devotion were one-sided, if Shigaraki didn’t determine to share Spinner’s grievance.  If Spinner’s problems aren’t Shigaraki’s problems too, then Deku doesn’t have to address them.  And but so, the mad scramble to invalidate the connection by any means possible.      But then here comes Shigaraki not just mentioning Spinner, but mentioning something Spinner wanted that Spinner never even told him about on the page, meaning either Shigaraki was paying close enough attention to Spinner to simply intuit it, or he and Spinner had an off-page conversation about Deika where Spinner in all his insecurity was able to admit to Shigaraki that he thought his horizon was beautiful.  And not only does Shigaraki remember this, he dedicates his destruction of Mount Fuji to Spinner and the horizon.      Not so one-sided after all, is it?
That all said, of course it’s also worth asking if Spinner actually wants the horizon anymore.  Judging by his tormented inner reflections when striving to reach Kurogiri, that doesn’t really seem to be the case.  At the end of Spinner’s strength, what he truly remembers and treasures is the time he and Shigaraki spent just dicking around talking about video games—just being friends.  Spinner wants Shigaraki to get what he wants—but if they’re both just crediting That Beautiful Horizon to each other without realizing it’s not really about what they themselves want anymore, where does that leave them?      One suspects that was one function of the possession plot—keeping them from talking to each other freely and being able to figure that out themselves.  As it is, with the possession plot seemingly off the table, at least for now, that brings us back to Deku and his resolution to reach the humanity in Shigaraki Tomura—a humanity that Shigaraki just helpfully signposted by referencing his friend Spinner.      So how long until we cut away to find out where the Rooftop Trio and Spinner have gotten off to?

Stray Thoughts
Re: Mount Fuji, Horikoshi’s grasp of travel times remains as totally unhinged as ever.  Someone who can make rudimentary animations needs to use that battle map volume extra to demonstrate exactly the distances that would have to traversed by All For One, U.A., All Might and especially Lady Nagant and her bullets in this final arc for them to keep arriving where the story needs them to be.
I see the artistic indication is very much that Shigaraki can just spread Decay wherever he walks now.  That’s both wonderfully evocative for the embodied destructive divine impulse he’s nominally become and also a bit amusing, because if you can unlock a touch-based quirk to spread through your feet, maybe Overhaul’s not out of luck just yet after all.  XD
Good riddance to the mask!  As others have pointed out, it’s modelled on All Might’s smile, and is therefore the last thing Deku should be wearing right now, given that Shigaraki has specifically expressed, to Deku’s face, that he hates All Might’s fucking smile, “As if there’s no one he can’t save!”  Hope Shigaraki gets that damn cape next, such as is left of it.

Events Up To Now (Chapters 393 - 410)
The resolution of the Ochaco vs. Toga fight is very solid emotionally, though hampered by yet more nerfing of Toga's power set to make sure she can't do all the damage she should logically be capable of doing, as well as a lot of incredibly tiresome shoehorning in of mentions of Deku just to make sure everyone gets how Not Homo it is for Ochaco to tell Toga she's the cutest girl in the whole world. But I love that Toga remains unrepentant and faithful to Shigaraki to the end. I will turn a lot less nice about this if Toga turns out to have actually died here, however.      (She should have gotten to stab fucking Hawks.)
The All Might vs. AFO fight sucks rocks. The mech suit makes a nonsense of All Might's primary arc post-Kamino, it's flatly irreconcileable with his characterization throughout the Edgy Deku arc, it leans on a bond with the 1-A students that he has entirely failed to earn, and it parades their identies and power sets out in front of the world with absolutely zero indication that he ever asked them if they were okay with that. As an answer to the "quirkless hero" question it is purest sophistry, laughably detached from reality.
The world's reaction to the All Might vs. AFO fight sucks rocks. The return of Wishing Energy is the obvious point of note, but I prefer to focus on how patently ridiculous it is that across the multitudinous barriers of age, language, culture, politics, national attitude, wealth level, and views on heroism, everyone in the world who watches the battle and gets into it enough to really pay attention is magically able to intuit that the man in the black military hardware suit injecting acid into the underclothed twelve-year-old is the "Hero."
Kunieda is a delight and he and Aoyama should have had history going back to AFO's sway over the family.
Shigaraki is great when he's getting actual attention, but as part and parcel of the AFO vs. All Might fight sucking on such intergalactic levels, it made Shigaraki awful, too, reducing him to generic last boss counting-his-evil-chickens-before-they're-hatched gloating. Praying we see no more of that going forward.
It is extremely headshaking in retrospect that the Heroes actively acknowledged during the planning process for all this that they would prefer to engage with the AFO persona in Shigaraki than Shigaraki himself, the Heroes then find out during the battle that AFO is trying to get to Shigaraki with the specific aim of reawakening said persona, and yet the Jakku team, All Might and Bakugou still blow interminable fucking chapters on preventing AFO from doing the exact thing that would get them back the persona they explicitly stated it would be preferable to deal with.
Edgeshot continues to be Just The Worst, not even having the decency to wait until the endgame to confirm what I predicted back when the nonsense about repairing Bakugou's heart first came up: that, "You won't be able to come back from this," is a bald-faced lie intended to ratchet up tension, one that would be rolled back the instant the danger was past and Bakugou could be gotten to a proper hospital room.
AFO's backstory is the laziest of lazy dreck. The new information soundly deprives Yoichi of the marginal amounts of agency he had previously managed to suggest he exercised, conflicts with what's been previously implied about the brothers' personal history, fails to reconcile the child AFO with the man we met in Deku's dream prior to Joint Training, and reduces all of the interpersonal drama between AFO, Yoichi and Kudou into nothing more than a reason for Bakugou to inspire fear and distress in BabyFO. (See @robotlesbianjavert's post and Nal's tags on it here, and @codenamesazanka's post here.)
Omni-Factor Unleash is a retread of Kamino AND Overhaul's minion forms AND Akira-fied Shigaraki. You guys, I think maybe Horikoshi is Bad At Coming Up With Final Boss Attacks.

Hi love! About the Avengers who you think it would be the most understanding (and the ones who don't) with this situation? I don't like to be held when i'm sleeping, it's nothing against the person who i'm sleeping with, it's just that I hate to be touched while i'm sleeping
Tumblr media
Warnings: Yandere themes, talk of them crossing your boundaries
Tumblr media
I think Natasha would be the most understanding in this situation.
While she likes physical touch, she's also not one to disregard your want for space and privacy unless you give her a good reason not to.
After all, considering the environment she grew up in with Dreykov, Natasha understands not wanting to be touched sometimes, so she's not going to force you to cuddle in bed if you don't want to.
For kind of the same reason, I think Bruce would be right behind her. Growing up in an abusive home also helps him understand not wanting to be touched in certain situations, so if you explicitly state not wanting to be touched while sleeping, he's going to respect it.
Clint is also pretty good at seeing and respecting your boundaries when it comes to touch.
I think Clint would be the best yandere to have in general to have out of them solely because he's really not that intense compared to the rest of them.
He can be obsessive and protective, but he's willing to work with you on a lot of stuff so long as you're not needlessly putting yourself in danger.
So you not wanting to be touched while sleeping isn't that big of a deal for him. Just be upfront about it and everything will be fine from there.
Now, this is where we start to get into the least understanding out of the bunch.
I think Tony would be next. For him, it's a toss-up as to whether or not your boundaries are respected.
He'll understand when you explain it to him, and he'll try his best to respect you not wanting to be touched while sleeping, but sometimes he can't help it.
More often than not, Tony's having nightmares and will wake up in the dead of night terrified. Sometimes he remembers not to touch you, but mostly he's going to grab onto you, the haze of fear making him forget and instead just need to hold you.
As for Steve, he fully understands what your boundaries are, it's just that he chooses to ignore them 75% of the time, which is why I think he's worse than Tony.
He can't blame him cuddling you at night on nightmares. It's just him being an asshole and blaming it on you being stubborn.
Sometimes he'll give you a bit of leeway when you give him a bit of leeway. If you're a willing participant or at least act like it, it'll be easier for you when you're sleeping.
And as for the worst of them, Thor would come out on top.
There's not really any point where you aren't being cuddled at night, and you sometimes wonder if Thor either doesn't understand or doesn't care.
You could explain it to him, complain, or pull away as many times as you want, but it never stops him from pulling you back into a bear hug at night.
In the beginning, Thor didn't really understand. Cuddling is so nice, so why wouldn't you want to do it? If you explain it to him, he still struggles to grasp why, so it never really stops.

Damon Gant scares the hell out of me.
Tumblr media
This man. This. Sodding. Demon. It's been a few weeks since I beat Rise From the Ashes, but the events of that case and the actions of this character have made the name "Gant" borderline blasphemous. For how far I have gotten into Ace Attorney, he's probably the most terrifying of the villains so far. Yes, that includes Manfred.
Now, coming fresh off the fourth case like me, you may have wondered given his reputation; how can they make this goofy orange funny man more paralysing than THE Manfred von Karma himself? Old Karma set the bar pretty high after all - never was there a worse feeling than catching him in the Evidence Room with a taser after all the work you put in to incriminate him and his witness.
Karma was built from Edgeworth's reputation, the way he was talked up prior to the trial, and his control over the courtroom. He was introduced on a pedestal and kept there till the very end. You are *expected* to fear this man and plays him pretty straight. No ambiguity, he's just that terrifying.
Gant? He practically comes out of nowhere. Even Edgeworth is surprised (even fearful?) when he appears. And he introduces himself by... just standing there. Not even in ellipses as Karma did - he just stares at you until bursting into friendly dialogue. He indirectly helps you connect the SL-9 incident to the current case. He scolds Edgeworth with a smug grin.
You have no idea what to expect from this man. He hits you with so many conflicting signals that you can't tell what you're supposed to think of him. He seems friendly enough, I guess? Maybe he's just like good ol' Gumshoe right? But that stare and the way he taunts Edgeworth... it makes you wonder what's going on with the guy.
Your fears may be alleviated slightly when he lets you into the evidence room. Maybe that same, cold stare he gives you only raises your eyebrows. At best he's a very eccentric fellow, at worst you have no idea why he's keeping up such a façade... if there even is one.
Then the pieces start coming together. There's a good reason why he was so protective of his office; everything you find in there ties him into both cases in a very disturbing way. The way Lana is acting, why Jake Marshall is so interested in SL-9, everything that connects him to Ema especially paints him in a very ominous light. He was involved with all their lives and how they turned out and it isn't shaping up to be a very positive influence. Even smaller details - like how he blasts organ music at officers under his watch to punish them - paint him in an ominous light.
By the time he's standing as a witness for the second time, it becomes crystal clear. Damon Gant is a ruthless, selfish and thoroughly manipulative person. Everything, from SL-9 to now, was planned and thought-out by this horrid man to ensure he gets off scott-free. No matter how many lives he ruins in the process. He frames Ema for murder. He convinces Lana to help him cover up a fake crime. He kills Marshall's brother in the process. He gave Edgeworth false evidence when he took over as prosecutor for SL-9. He did his damndest to remove everyone who investigated SL-9 from power.
Bruce Goodman died because he was getting too close seeing Gants web of lies he had spent 2 years weaving and keeping at this rate. He pulls every string he has - Lana, Edgeworth, even Ema as a scapegoat - to make sure Bruce dies with his secrets. One wrong move from Phoenix and he would have walked out a free man.
Why?
Because he was desperate. They had their serial killer - Joe Darke - but no evidence to prove it. Right or wrong, Gant wanted someone to pay for these violent murders, so he sought justice through the most vile means possible. Manfred only did what he did because he's a perfectionist. Gant did what he did because he wanted justice - or at least the next best thing.
And yet he's still incredibly goofy, mentioning swimming at the slightest chance, giving people nicknames, the whole $50 thing... Manfred doesn't have many humanising moments in Ace Attorney, especially in the first game. Gant is presented as just another eccentric dude with a kind streak and is given plenty of opportunity to look human.
Which might be the scariest part about him.
He's an old and silly police chief who did some truly terrible things for the right reasons. His ruthlessness combined with his eccentric behaviour puts him in an uncanny valley of sorts. He's so close, but yet so far from being likeable as a person (compared to Manfred, who's the textbook definition of "love to hate").
I don't blame Edgeworth for being shaken by his final words.

Isaac (Part 4)
[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] [Part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Part 8] [Part 9]
The next few days I can't say they were the best of my life. In addition to the nausea I still felt some mornings, I was worried about the fact that I was going to be the father of five babies in a matter of a few months. Sandra was soon to give birth to the twins that I thought were Peter's children and were the reason for our separation. On top of that, I had three more babies growing in my belly from my relationship with Isaac. And if that wasn't enough, I had anxiety again and turned to food.
I gained 5 pounds the first week and this second week I think I will set a new record. My belly was growing very fast and this made my insecurity increase. I didn't feel confident at all in my condition. Only when I was with Isaac did I feel comfortable. He was my safe space, with him I could be me without fear. With him I didn't have to pretend, I didn't have to hide that I was pregnant. When we went out I wore loose sweatshirts so that my pregnant belly wouldn't show. We had told almost no one that we were expecting triplets.
Isaac noticed my insecurities and recommended that we start telling our friends and family the good news. With my college friends and Isaac's group of friends I knew there would be no problem. They already knew about my relationship with him, so beyond the initial shock of finding out I was a cis man with the ability to father life, they would take it very well. My cousin Alfred would be very surprised, but supportive, as would my sister Esther. I had serious doubts with my friends in the village and my parents. They were more traditional people, people who on more than one occasion made homophobic comments in my presence. Arriving and telling them that the womanizing boy they knew was now gay and that he had become pregnant was not going to be easy.
So, because it was going to be easier with them, Isaac organized a gathering of friends. Bruce, Ken, Tom and Justin came, and also Hugo, Tom's fiancé. He invited my college friends Ray, Leo, Carmen and Patricia. My cousin Alfred came with his new girlfriend, Samantha. And also my sister Esther, four years older than me and who was in town preparing for her future wedding.
They all made jokes about my weight gain. Alfred, who was always a joker, told me: "Boy, Sandra is not pregnant with you, stop it with the weight gain for sympathy". That was a very diverse group, but very open-minded. Esther and Alfred didn't know until that day that Isaac and I were officially a couple, for them we were still soccer and roommates. Neither of them were surprised when we told them we had been a couple for two months. "The sparkle in your eyes and the excitement with which you spoke to me about Isaac went beyond the screen when we talked on Skype. I was already assuming this," my sister told me and then congratulated us.
The gathering of friends was going so well that it was even embarrassing to cut it short to announce the bombshell news of the evening. Isaac stood up and made me stand next to him. "Oh, they're getting married. These two are getting married!" said Bruce, Ken, Ray and Patricia in unison, eliciting laughter from all of us. "No, nothing like that. Daniel and I are very happy to share with you, our family, that we are going to be the parents of triplets," said Isaac.
The announcement elicited a silence of doubt from everyone that my cousin broke trying to be funny. "Which one of you got the other one pregnant?". "Shut up! I'm sure they've resorted to a surrogate womb, it's very fashionable now," Hugo said. The murmur was growing and I had to cut it off immediately. "We have not resorted to surrogacy, no, nothing like that. It was not something premeditated and by the vagaries of genetics it turns out that I can get pregnant. So yes, dear Alfred, I am the one who got pregnant," I said holding Isaac's hand with one hand and rubbing my belly with the other.
Esther jumped up, rushed over to me and gave me a very tight hug. "I love you so much, I don't want you to ever forget that. You are my brother. No matter what happens, you'll always have me there with you for whatever you need. You are going to make me the proudest aunt in the world," she said without letting go of me for a moment. She then hugged Isaac with the same enthusiasm. "Thank you so much for making my brother happy again. Thank you for loving him and taking such good care of him. I want you to take great care of him, to love and support him and make him the happiest father in the world. Now more than ever he needs you by his side," he told him.
After Esther, everyone else came up to congratulate us. The last was Alfred, who came up shyly at the end. "I'm so sorry, Dan. I made those comments as a joke. You know I'm a big mouth. I love you a lot, buddy. You're like a brother to me, so I can tell you're going to make me an uncle," he said and gave me a hug. He asked for permission to see my belly. My insecurity diminished from the moment I told my chosen family that I was going to be a daddy with Isaac, so I lifted up the sweatshirt I was wearing. It was the first time I showed my pregnant belly, it was the first time I was proud of that rapidly growing belly. I was creating life inside of me, could there be anything more beautiful in the world?
Before dismissing Esther she wanted us to talk privately. "Do mom and dad know? What about your high school friends?" she asked. "No, they don't know about Isaac, and they don't know about the little gift inside me either," I replied. "You have to tell them, although I don't know how they'll take it, especially Dad." "I know. I'm trying to find a way and a time to tell them everything, but it's not being easy. I'd like Isaac to come with me when I tell them. I want to make it official," I admitted to her. I was scared to death about the reaction of my parents and my usual friends, but sooner or later I would have to tell them, there was no other way.
Almost three weeks passed since that day. I stopped feeling nauseous, although my appetite was still unstoppable. I already weighed 256 pounds. My belly was already noticeable, and I was only four and a half months pregnant. I started working from home, so my trips to the fridge only increased. Many of the t-shirts that used to fit me were now a couple of doughnuts away from becoming crop tops. And for some reason all these shrinking clothes and my growing belly made Isaac even hornier. He loved playing with my belly when we were in bed. I'm not going to lie, those moments transported me to paradise itself.
One of those days, while we were having breakfast together I got a call. "Are you Daniel Norris?" a female voice asked me. "I'm calling from St. George's Hospital, it's regarding Sandra Diaz, your ex-wife. Something has happened with her and we need you to come immediately," she said.
To be continued...

Hi💕
What did you think about yesterday’s eclipse episode? I was expecting my heart to be ripped out but it was much softer? Calmer? Than I was expecting. Though, based on the preview I should get ready for ep 6😭
I am really enjoying all the different characters. In this episode we got to see a snippet of the struggles each character goes to. It made me remember all of them are just kids trying to find their place. Each character’s issues were unique to themselves and realistic and multidimensional. I am obsessed 🥰 but this softer pace also made me realize how the system doesn’t break ppl down in one go. But it erodes their little by little 😭 and honestly that’s a little bit scarier because it has already affected you by the time you realize it
Thua and Kan are so interesting. They are so considerate of each other that it’s stopping them from taking the next step. It feels like they are waiting on this line until the other person is ready but they have to deal with their own concerns before they can take this step. Their concerns are also very different and yet so similar. I really want to just wrap them in blankets and tell them it’s okay😭
Who do you think Bruce Wayne is? I immediately assumed that it was Kan and that it was his own way to approach Thua but I’ve also seen some theories that it might be someone else maybe trying to hurt/cheat Thua. I really hope not though. Thua could use a way to express his feelings without worrying about.
The main reason I thought it was Kan was because they used Bruce Wayne and not Batman which I find very interesting. Batman is a hero and yet moves in the shadows but Bruce Wayne is not a secret identity (idk if this makes sense outside of my own head😅). Bruce Wayne doesn’t have to hide. It’s the identity of Batman that he needs to hide. I really hope it is Kan and they really get the chance to express their feelings in what feels like a safer? Non judgmental space.
Wat- I love him 🥰 I really want to know how his family raised such a great young man (minus the whole career choice situation😒). He’s so supportive of his friends, great at communicating and just a wonderful personality in general. I’m really glad he has teacher Sani who could recognize the signs that he wasn’t doing well and just be there for support and advice. Their relationship is a sharp contrast from the rest of the teachers and really shows what a good teacher can offer. I can’t wait to explore more of his storyline.
World remembers gang- Honestly my heart broke for them at the end. Especially when they talked about how they should make their protest worth all the things they’ve experienced and the relationships they’ve lost. All because they just wanted freedom to express themselves😭😭😭 I wish I could burn the system single-handedly just for them. At the same time they truly represent the revolution (even more than Ayan). While ayan might have been the spark that initially spurred them on. They are the true heart of the fire. They can burn down the systems that hurt them but also provide warmth and hope and light to others that may not be able to fight the same way. Ugh I love them so much😭🥰😘 I really hope none of the get hurt 🙏
Sorry for the long message. I’ve had eclipse thoughts invade my mind randomly throughout the day and finally had time to write everything out😅
First, I have loved every episode of The Eclipse yet and it is my current favorite airing BL so, there ya go.
Onto the more specific parts!
This show really is about how society is trying to force them into boxes that don't fit them and how some people just can't fit and others force themselves to fit and how some people hurt themselves to fit and others refuse to hurt themselves and it's a painful overview of how people deal with their own fears, pain and lives. We watch them struggle and fight and ache and it's so painful because we know it can be better and people can be kinder but not where they are.
Thua and Kan are my entire life at this point. I have written so many posts about these babies, these aching and hurting self-hating babies who each handle their issues so differently and just... the pain.
I think Kan in Bruce Wayne. Could it be someone else? Yes. Could it be someone out to hurt Thua? Yes. But the idea of Kan being Bruce Wayne, of hiding himself in another way but also specifically hiding himself behind the identity of a superhero when all he wants to do it protect Thua? It's just so perfect. Kan desperately wants to be Thua's hero but he knows he can't be and his agony shows in not choosing Batman but deciding to be Bruce Wayne instead is just so good. Kan needs a secret identity and he needs a place to be safe and I truly believe that he is being Bruce Wayne and that this is a chance for him to share his feelings for Thua in a safe place.
And I suspect that Thua is gonna figure out who he is before he reveals himself, honestly.
Wat is a baby but he's on such a different (yet similar) journey to his friends and it's really fascinating to see how he relates to them but also doesn't relate to them at all. It's really, honestly, fascinating. He's on a journey of freedom but one that has nothing to do with queerness but rather going directly against his parent's wishes and the relationship between queerness and taking your own path is really fascinating in a pluralistic culture like Thai culture where you are defined by your place in society rather than individual place is even more interwoven.
The World Remembers is powerful proof that the revolution is almost always lead by the people who cannot hide. Ayan can hide, Akk can hide, Kan can hide... Thua and The World Remembers? They cannot hide. They cannot help but be seen. And so they are the ones who fight but they are also the ones who we are fighting for and that's the real beauty of their scene. They speak the words everyone has thought.
Tomorrow will be better. It will all be worth it. This fights, these battles, this pain, will be worth it in the end. This will all be worth and we will be happy. We will be happy in the end and we will show them that we are worthy of that happiness and they will support us, they will join us. Tomorrow will be better and we will not be alone.

SHELBY--
THE FLOOR? HE SLEPT ON THE FLOOR JUST TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS SAFE? That makes me wanna cry. That's so wholesome. I need someone who would sleep on the mf floor to make sure I was safe in my life. The man literally could have carried her to bed. I thought the man was gonna sleep on the couch but THE FLOOR-- Your rendition of Bruce Wayne is the reason I'm single.
Also the man being like "hm my chest is aching. Maybe it's a bruise" AKLSNJF The man prides himself in being so self-aware that he's staying away from her so she doesn't fall in love with him because he's afraid he's not good enough AND YET "maybe it's a bruise". Bruce no, sweetie, you're in love, you idiot. ACCEPT IT. The poor reader's gonna have to go to the brink of DEATH to get him to accept it (SHE IS!) and even then it's a 50/50 chance.
MAXWELL BETRAYED ME. I knew he was an ass, but I really thought it was gonna be some other dude because they had all been different dudes. Also the idea of being locked inside your own body and SOMEONE ELSE IS CONTROLLING IT is terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. Great of you to think of that.
Also I just love the concept that is the reader playing along with Bruce, who is horribly denying the fact he is Batman. She could fully assert it and he'd eventually have to give in, but she's going along with what he's comfortable with and that's the healthiest shit I've ever seen in my life. Not the secret keeping, but the "I'll wait until YOU'RE ready." (Bruce is still winning as the most romantic person in this chapter though for SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR, despite him being very uncomfortable because bruises and wounds and vigilante injuries)
Bruce was probably a surprised pikachu with that kiss. Love that for him. I bet he's craving more and he'll definitely be 100000x harder on himself because they kissed and he's just falling more and more in love with her every second.
Also the way Bruce kept talking to her??? Assuring her the entire time??????? AS IF HE NEEDED TO DO ANYTHING AFTER SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR-- he is such a sweetheart. I love him. If I had fairy godmother, I'd ask for this Bruce Wayne.
THE WAY THEY KNEW ABOUT HER MEETINGS WITH THE BATMAN SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME. I was like ah yes they took her, just like everyone else and then BOOM! I screamed. My neighbors were (probably) concerned. Everyone is afraid. Lucky for Bruce to be hearing that though! He can plan accordingly, if he hasn't lost his mind yet. Or after he freaks out, he can plan.
I'm eagerly anticipating the next chapter! After the week I've had I could use Batman protecting the reader and kicking ass. YOU'RE AMAZING, in case I haven't said it enough. Just making sure you know that.
⌨️
***CH 18 SPOILERS***
🥰 you're welcome. Bruce never does things halfway or tbh never does them the easy way. Also I am so glad you noticed the bruise thing 😂 I highlighted it on my doc with a comment that says "no you dummy that's love" so I'm glad someone noticed it 😂
And yes Maxwell betrayed you, sorry! I had to make it make more sense for the trap thing to work. So their plan was just whoever she accepted first would take her, pretty much. But do you see now why sometimes I just choose not to respond to certain parts of your asks? 😅
And yes the most terrifying thing ever is having no control over your body (which is honest to god a huge fear of mine and a reason I never get drunk or high or anything ever lol). So I figured it would make for something truly angsty!
"Surprised pikachu" yes he was. Definitely. Like not only is he having to wrap his brain around the fact that she's about to be kidnapped and he can't talk her out of it, plus the fact that she called him by his name and was sleeping in his bed, but now she's kissed him?! I imagine his brain was 100000% blank at that moment. Like poor guy probably short circuited.
Sorry for your neighbors though 😅 I had to up the ante a bit!
Thank you as always!! As I told my other anon I don't know you but I love you. These asks give me life. Like....I can't emphasize that enough 🥺 see you again Saturday after I post the next chapter!

BREAKING NEWS
Bruce Wayne's son, Jason Todd, reported dead after a bombing in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
In complete shock and fear, you sat staring at the bat-computer with Alfred when that segment came across all three screens. There wasn't any story yet, as it was just reported, and Bruce hadn't even called either of you. Heck, you were expecting them to come back that night since Bruce found where Jason was! That was the whole reason you were even at Wayne Manor because you wanted to give Jason the biggest hug when Bruce brought him back.
But now, you couldn't.
You weren't talking, you weren't crying, you weren't even blinking. Only did you move once the report switched to the weather in Gotham, and you turned to Alfred. "That...that can't be real, can it?" You asked him barely above a whisper.
"I'm," He paused. "I'm not sure. I will call Master Bruce right away," Alfred said, turning to grab two handkerchiefs, one for each of you. Once you took yours, he pulled the phone out and waited for Bruce to pick up. He called twice, both ending in voicemail. "Master Bruce, please return our call when you can," He said and ended the call, giving up until Bruce could call back.
"I thought they were coming back to Gotham today," You said. "What happened?"
Alfred sighed, wiping a tear off his cheek. "I know they tracked Joker down, but they were working together. I'm not sure what changed," He said.
You navigated over to the search engine and looked up Jason's name, seeing if you could find any more information on what you two just saw on the news. You clicked the first article to appear, which was published twenty minutes ago.
This week, Bruce Wayne and his son, Jason Todd, visited Sarajevo, Bosnia. We have been informed that Todd, 15, was in a bombing in Sarajevo and did not survive. Currently, we have no source of the bombing and no comment from Mr. Wayne.
They all said the same thing. There was no further information other than that Jason had died in a bombing, and it was driving you crazy that Bruce wasn't answering to confirm or deny anything.
Finally, a long hour later, Alfred's phone rang, and he put it on speaker so you could hear as well. "Master Bruce, we saw the news. Is it true?"
Bruce sighed and didn't respond for a moment. "Yes. Joker. I was too late," Was the only explanation he gave. "I will be leaving in the morning to bring Jason's body back. We will have a burial after I return," Bruce said.
"Are you okay, sir?" Alfred asked though he knew the answer.
"I'm fine," Bruce said, which you both knew was a lie, but it was best not to push.
Alfred looked at you, not sure what to say. "We'll see you tomorrow, B," You said.
It was a phone call no one wanted to make or receive. In a matter of hours, you lost your best friend after searching for him for a week. His adoptive father was feeling responsible, and the butler had no idea how he would keep the family together. You zoned out after you said goodnight, thinking about what would come next.
After Alfred ended the phone call, he insisted on getting you something for dinner. Though it was past midnight in Bosnia, it was only dinnertime in Gotham, and Alfred needed to make sure both his and your needs were met in this time of grief. And while you ate dinner, he made calls around to others to make sure Dick and Barbara would be able to be around for Jason's burial when Bruce returned.
How were you going to get through life now without your best friend?
---
Five Years Later
There were strange rumors going around. About a person all the criminals around were scared of but also working under, but you couldn't find the name. You brought it up to Bruce, and he said he would look into it. He hadn't been the same since losing Jason, especially not wanting to have others on his team that he could potentially lose.
It wasn't a great coping mechanism, but it was the only thing that kept you distracted. You liked sitting in the Batcave, on comms with Batman, listening to him go through all his patrols and missions, helping him from behind the scenes. When Jason was still Robin, you would only be there when you two did homework together or were just hanging out; you never helped with Batman-related issues. But once he was gone, you needed something to put your mind on; and helping Batman was a perfect way.
Bruce didn't like it at first, but it at least kept you from trying to be some type of Robin, and it kept you safe behind a computer. And you liked going to the Batcave, talking with Alfred, and seeing what Bruce was up to, and it was always fun when Nightwing came into town. It had been a while since you'd seen him, so hopefully, he'd stop by again soon.
You scrolled through your phone as you watched where the Batmobile was headed, following some truck to deliver something to Black Mask, as Batman said. Batman had an idea of what was inside of it and was determined to stop it before it made it to Black Mask. You had him on speaker so you could hear whatever Batman said, either to you or the guys driving the truck.
Once he stopped, you pulled up the nearest camera so you could see what was going on. The truck spun out, and whatever was being transported fell out the back. There were shipping containers all around the place. "Who are you working for?" Batman asked the driver, and he refused to tell Batman the answer. As the driver made more excuses, the box that slid out of the truck started beeping, and Batman secured the suspects to the damaged truck.
"It's called Amazo," Batman declared, and your head snapped around. Amazo? That would certainly be interesting.
You couldn't see anything once Batman threw a smoke bomb, so you just listened. He was grunting while fighting Amazo, which was normal, but you just wished the smoke would go away so you could watch. It sounded like Batman got hit and was thrown into one of the containers around, but you weren't entirely sure.
"Packs quite the punch for a toaster on steroids, huh? Need a hand?" You heard a new voice and immediately perked up.
"Is that Nightwing?" You asked into the comms, not expecting an answer. "Tell him I say hi!" You said.
Unfortunately, they were too busy for Batman to pass along your greeting. Bruce, of course, rejected Dick's help, but everyone knew he was going to help anyway. Now you could see the fight again, though not entirely, but it was a better view than before. Lots more grunting and punching, and they finished off Amazo.
You piped up again when you saw them hauling the broken Amazo body. "Batman, tell Nightwing I said hi!"
You couldn't see it, but you knew Bruce rolled his eyes when you heard his sigh. "We're busy," He replied, not adding any more to it. You didn't push it again, knowing that Dick would surely stop by after. There had to be a reason he was in Gotham, and you were pretty sure it wasn't for Amazo.
The two rigged up Amazo to get the driver and passengers to tell Batman who they were working for, and once they said the name Red Hood, there were gunshots. All three men were killed by a sniper, and immediately, Batman took off after him in his plane, leaving Nightwing to clean everything up.
Bruce was focused, so he didn't respond to any of your questions. You heard some conversation between Batman and Red Hood, but it was a tad confusing since you couldn't see what was happening. Then, quickly, an explosion was blasted through the speakers, and Batman said he was coming back and cut off the comms. You tried to see if you could reach Nightwing, but he didn't have his earpiece in, so you just had to wait for both of them to return to the Batcave.
Dick made it to the Cave before Bruce did, which you were thankful for. "Dick! I was wondering when you'd come by for a visit," You said, giving him a tight hug.
He smiled back at you. "Hey, kiddo," Dick said. "Yeah, I guess it all worked out timing-wise."
Once Bruce made it to the Cave, you moved out of the way so Bruce and Dick could look at the screens. "This bit of intel is what brought me to town," Dick said and held up a USB drive. "Good thing I've always had perfect timing. Take a look," Dick handed Bruce the drive.
The three of you watched the short video that zoomed in on the man Bruce chased tonight: Red Hood. "I got this shot from a snitch. He says this guy's been making some serious moves," Dick explained.
"The Red Hood," Bruce deduced.
"What happened out there?" You looked away from the screen and at Bruce. Bruce didn't look at you, but Dick did look down at him. "I heard the explosion; what did he say to you?"
Bruce didn't answer and instead started typing on the computer. You hated when he did that! "Bruce, what happened?" You pushed.
He stopped typing as he was searching his database for more information on past Red Hood users. "He confronted me about the past," Bruce said, and he left it at that.
You shot Dick a confused face before looking back down at Bruce. "You think this guy knows you?"
"Not sure yet," Bruce said and went back to looking at the database. After Bruce scrolled through a few of the previous "Red Hood" personas in his database, he and Dick deduced that it was time to visit Joker to see what he knew of this new user. Joker was, of course, the most popular criminal to use the name, so it was best to see him.
You knew what was coming when Dick turned to grab a mug from Alfred and ask another question. A small laugh came out of your mouth when Dick turned back around, asking about going to visit Joker, seeing Bruce already in the Batmobile. Dick set the mug back on Alfred's tray, taking off towards the Batmobile. "Can't you just once say let's get in the car?"
Alfred shook his head as he offered you your mug. "He'll never learn," You told him.
"No, I don't think he will," Alfred confirmed.
It wasn't too long after the vigilantes returned from Arkham that they were out chasing Red Hood again. It seemed like now that Red Hood knew Batman knows he's around, what's the point in holding back? Bruce heard Black Mask discussing a weapons delivery via helicopter, and they quickly left the Cave to take care of this. And sure enough, there was Red Hood, hijacking the helicopter.
You and Alfred sat and listened to Bruce and Dick chasing Red Hood; too much going on at once to really comprehend. It got quiet once they ended at the train tracks, only a few city noises in the background, and the two of them talking about if they lost Red Hood. A few moments later, both you and Alfred jumped when an explosion came through the speakers. "Are you guys okay?" You quickly asked, moving fast to try to find a camera nearby so you could see what happened.
Dick groaned, which was the only reply you got. It got harder to hear as a train was fast approaching. Once the train passed, Bruce sighed. "We lost him. Nightwing's hurt," He reported.
When you looked back at Alfred, he was already making his way over to grab stuff to care for Dick when they returned. "Do you need help getting him back?" You asked, and you knew Bruce would say no, but you always asked.
"No. We'll be back soon," He replied, and Dick continued to groan as you assumed Bruce was helping him up.
Sure enough, when they got back, it was clear that Dick was out for at least a few days. Alfred was wrapping Dick's leg, making sure it would heal properly and it wasn't hurt past what Alfred could treat; Bruce was reviewing footage from the chase earlier.
"He's got some moves, huh?" You asked, standing behind Bruce and watching the video on the computer.
"Yeah, our boy here has some skills. He's been trained, and trained well," Dick said. "Like right there!" He pointed when Red Hood jumped off the building, and one of Bruce's lines got caught around his ankle. "That. He sliced that cable off his ankle before it went taut. You don't just do that. That has to be practiced, learned," Dick concluded.
Bruce spoke up this time. "And then there's the knife."
You cocked your head to the side, not sure what he meant. "What about it?" You asked.
"You guys know many knives that can cut my lines?" Bruce asked, looking between you and Dick.
Dick responded. "Not many."
"No, not many," Bruce turned back to the screen.
Dick tried to get up once Alfred wrapped him up but flinched when his foot touched the floor. "Alfred, take him home," Bruce requested.
"Bruce, I can still help," Dick tried to argue, even though he knew Bruce didn't even want his help in the first place.
"You already have. Thank you," Bruce said sincerely. "Go rest up." And right back to the computer he went.
You watched Alfred bring Dick some crutches to make the walk out of the Cave easier. Laughing once you heard Dick confused about Bruce thanking him, and you made sure to get your goodbye hug in before he made it too far. When you made it back over to the computer, Bruce looked over at you. "You should go home, too." He said.
Immediately, you shook your head. "Nuh-uh," You declared. "You already got rid of Dick; you can't get rid of both of us. Besides, I'm far too intrigued over this case. I wouldn't be getting any sleep anyway," You said.
Bruce didn't argue, knowing there was no way to convince you now. Instead, he went back to scrubbing through the video. "Is this the train?" You asked, and your question was answered when the same explosion from earlier played through the speakers.
Red Hood was now in the middle of the screen, looking right back at Bruce. "You haven't lost your touch-" He said but was cut off by the train.
"He said more, right?" You asked, certain that you could still hear something under the train noise.
"Yes," Bruce said, clicking on the audio to clean it up. He scrubbed it again, and it was a little clearer but not perfect. Taking a few more moments to make sure the audio was perfectly clear, he played it again.
"You haven't lost your touch, Bruce!"
Bruce stood up so fast that he knocked his chair over, and you nearly did the opposite when you heard Red Hood say his name, having to put your hand on Bruce's shoulder so you didn't fall over. "He does know you," You said, barely above a whisper. "Who is this guy?"
He took a deep breath, checked to ensure you were still standing, and slowly closed his eyes. "Mind giving me a minute?" He asked.
You took a step back, removing your hand from his shoulder. "Go ahead," You nodded, and Bruce opened his eyes to make his point.
"Alone?"
"Oh, right, of course. I'll just..." You thought. "Go get a glass of water from the kitchen." You rushed over to the elevator out of the Cave, not wanting to bother Bruce anymore. You figured he already had an idea who this guy was under the mask, but you weren't sure. You had an inkling of an idea, but it was stupid.
It doesn't make any sense for Red Hood to be him. Jason's been dead for five years.
But it's also all that makes sense.
You started wistfully thinking, piecing stupid ideas together. Lots of people have it out for Bruce, but with this guy, crime is down; that doesn't add up to the regular criminals Bruce fights. He's trained, and some of his training reflects how Bruce trains, right? He's going by Red Hood, which Joker went by at one point, and Jason was killed by Joker. That might be a stretch, though. But this guy knows Bruce is Batman, and he seemingly came out of nowhere?
Mindlessly, you filled your glass with water and sat at the table to think. It was a stupid idea. Jason is dead and buried on the grounds just outside of the house; it's not possible. Besides, you weren't even sure if you wanted that silly idea to even be true.
As you slowly drank your water, waiting for a little while before going back to the Cave, you let your mind wander.
"I promise, I'm fine," Jason said as he held his knee, trying to sound confident.
You rolled your eyes at him as you grabbed the first-aid kit. "Yeah, right, you're bleeding. At least let me clean it," You reasoned with him.
Jason sighed, sitting on your bed. He showed up, knocking on your window after he got into an argument with Bruce. He needed to blow off some steam and stopped some C-grade criminal robbing some shop, but he got knocked into a wall as he was leaving the scene. Finally getting away, he was near your family's apartment and thought going to you was better than trudging back to Bruce.
"I'll be okay," Jason persisted.
Once you sat across from him, you put the warm cloth on his bleeding knee. You'd seen Alfred heal Jason up plenty of times, so at least you had a bit of an idea of what you were doing. Jason cringed when you moved the cloth around to clean it, stinging a little. "I know you will be. But I'm going to clean the wounds," You said and pulled the cloth back, moving to grab the bandage wraps to put around his knee until he got home.
"I shouldn't have come," Jason said quietly. "I should've figured out how to deal with it by myself."
"Jay, you're fourteen; it's okay if you need some help from time to time," You reasoned with him. "Hell, you're lucky I didn't call Alfred. Give me your elbow."
Jason didn't respond when he let you look at his elbow. He was upset. And hurt. But he didn't want to admit that. "I know you're mad at Bruce, but you should go home. I'm sure both he and Alfred are worried about you," You told him, finishing wrapping up. "Look at me."
He listened, and you two locked eyes. "You're my best friend; you know I care about you. I don't want you to get hurt when you run off because you and Bruce fought," You said. "Do you want me to call Alfred so he can come to pick you up?" You asked.
Another few seconds went by as Jason thought about his response, and he slowly nodded. "Okay, I can do that," You said and got up to grab your phone, not before giving him a small kiss on his cheek to remind him how much you care about him.
You didn't realize it, but a lot more time had passed than you meant to. You were sure you could go back to the Cave, and Bruce wouldn't mind. After putting your cup in the sink, you headed back down there. Instead of finding Bruce at his computer, the Cave was empty, and you figured he went back out again, probably following Red Hood again.
You noticed the light to Jason's Robin costume was on, and you tried your hardest not to look at it. Why was it on, though? Was Bruce thinking the same thing?
It didn't matter. You couldn't get your hopes up and would talk about the Red Hood's identity once Bruce returned from wherever he was. You tried to connect to his comms, but he had them turned off, so you were stuck watching the map and waiting for him to get back.
Not too long after you were sitting in the Cave alone, Alfred made his reappearance after getting back from Blüdhaven. He offered to get you something to drink, which you gladly took him up on, and he made his way back to the kitchen. It was perfect timing because just as Alfred was heading out of the Cave, Bruce came back, and Alfred was able to get him something to drink, too.
"Where'd you go?" You asked, moving out of Bruce's chair so he could sit in front of the computer.
"Some assassins went after Red Hood. I happened to be there," Bruce informed you.
Your eyes nearly bulged out of your head when you saw the sword Bruce brought back. "Is that what I think it is?"
Bruce nodded slightly as he put it into the analyzer. "Yes, Red Hood's blood." Bruce didn't elaborate anymore, but he didn't need to. You watched as he pulled up the new Red Hood file to start analyzing, then brought up Jason's file, too. He did have the same thoughts as you, and you didn't know what you wanted the outcome to be.
Both you and Bruce watched the screen in silence, anxiety rising in your chest as it got closer and closer to completing the scan.
ANALYSIS COMPLETE
Another second passed before the bright red words came up above both photos. MATCH.
You gasped while Bruce's hands dropped as he stared at the screen. You were only brought out of your trance when there was a clanging behind you. Alfred saw the results and dropped the tray with the drinks, causing both of you to jump.
"It really is Jason?" You broke the silence, nearly ready to cry, but no one said anything else.
Bruce got up, leaving the match screen on the computer, and went to change. He didn't say anything, but once you saw him leave the Cave and Alfred told you where he was going, you followed. Alfred grabbed a lantern, and the two of you walked out to the grounds together, finding Bruce already digging up Jason's grave.
Once the coffin was uncovered, Bruce grabbed the crowbar and pried it open. Jason was still there, somehow. "Well, there you have it. He's still at rest," Alfred said.
"No, he isn't," Bruce picked the body up, and the hair fell off. It was a fake body, planted there by someone. Who? You didn't know. But you were sure Bruce did. Now, Bruce was only beating himself up about if he had looked inside when he brought Jason home, he would have known. But Bruce can't be blamed; all of you were grieving.
But Jason is still alive. He's out there, and has been, and now your hope has returned to you.
---
You were fuming.
Bruce had gone to meet with Ra's Al Guhl to figure out what went on five years ago, and on his way back, he had to stop to take care of Black Mask, Joker, and Red Hood. One thing led to another, Jason ended up with Joker and brought Bruce to Crime Alley. Jason tried to get Bruce to kill either him or Joker, but somehow Bruce found a way out of it.
And now he was back in the Cave, not wanting to talk about anymore past that, even though you knew there had to be more. It was driving you crazy that Bruce was keeping this all from you. Jason was your best friend and boyfriend; you grieved him just as much as Bruce did!
"Bruce, please, talk to me," You begged him as Bruce was non-stop walking from space to space in the Cave, trying to clear his head.
"There's nothing more to talk about, okay?" He exploded, then forced himself to take a deep breath. "Red Hood is Jason. He's alive. He wants to clean up Gotham by hurting more people, and he managed to get away tonight. I don't know what else you want from me."
You groaned. Bruce wasn't getting it. "I want to talk to him!"
"I don't know where he is," Bruce said, stopping in his tracks to make sure you heard him.
"That's bullshit. You're Batman; you know everything. You have to know where he is. Especially after you ran into him tonight," You crossed your arms, huffing.
Bruce shook his head. "I know everything?" He scoffed, still beating himself up over the discoveries from earlier. "We don't even know if he would want to talk to you. What would you say to him?"
"I just want to see him. It's been five years, Bruce. I know he's going through a lot, but maybe if I can get through to him, things will change and-"
"This changes nothing. That Jason we knew is still gone," Bruce cut you off, making you stop talking. "Look, I think you need to go home. Get some rest; you've been up for too long working on this case."
You cocked your head to the side, still looking at Bruce's face. "You're telling me to go get some rest? You haven't slept either!"
"Yes, I am telling you to get rest. Take the rest of the week off," Bruce deadpanned.
"Bruce, I can still help! We can find Jason, and I can talk to him!" You shot back.
"It was not a question!" He responded, much louder this time to make sure you were listening. "Go home. Get rest."
You stepped back a few, not expecting Bruce to raise his voice at you. Sure, it had been an eventful few days, but you were going through this together. "Fine. I'll see you tomorrow night," You compromised.
"Next week," He tried.
"Tomorrow night," You said as your final word and walked to the elevator to leave the Cave and the mansion. Alfred saw you when you got out of the Cave and offered to drive you home since it was late, but you declined. You'd just take one of Bruce's cars if he wanted you gone so badly. Besides, you wanted to call Dick and update him on everything you found out and maybe complain about Bruce a bit.
Alfred gave you the keys to the car you usually used and hooked your phone up, immediately calling Dick when you started driving. "Hey, kid. What's up?" He answered before the phone even rang twice.
"Well, I think the case is closed for now. Have you talked to Bruce yet?"
"Not since I saw you guys. What do you mean the case is closed?" Dick asked, sounding concerned.
You sighed, making sure to not lose your focus on the street. Luckily, the longest part of the drive was actually getting back into Gotham from Wayne Manor. Once you were back in the city, it wasn't too long. "Uh, we know who Red Hood is," You said, trying to figure out what Dick's reaction would be.
"Really?"
"It's Jason," You spit it out. There was a pause on the phone, probably Dick thinking to himself and trying to figure out how the hell it was possible. "Ra's switched his body for a fake and put him in the pit. So, now he's in Gotham." Still, there was more silence. "Dick, you still there?"
Dick coughed to bring himself back to reality. "I'm sure that was a harsh discovery. Why's the case closed if you guys know who he is?"
Honestly, you weren't sure. "I guess the right wording is that this side of the case is closed. Bruce is still angry that he's hurting people, so it's not totally over. Jason tried to get Bruce to kill him or Joker, but of course, he found a way around it," You rushed through the events of the night, sure that Bruce would send him the file in the next few days. Or you would, once you got back to the computer and read the full report.
"I see," Dick started. "How are you?"
"I'm pissed!" You said. "I want to talk to Jason; I want to see him. But instead of helping me, Bruce kicked me out. He drives me crazy!" You were past frustrated, just wishing Bruce would have listened to you instead of sending you home.
Dick chuckled. "Trust me, I understand. But maybe once he gets over tonight, he'll help you out. Besides that, are you okay?" Dick asked. He was always the one to make sure everyone was in their right mind; he fits the role well.
"I don't know. Finding out Jason is alive after five years? I don't think I'll be anywhere near okay until I can see him," You said, much quieter and taking some deep breaths. You were almost to your apartment, which was probably a good thing. You'd never admit it, but Bruce was right. You needed some sleep. And some food, but mostly sleep.
"And that's perfectly fine. If Bruce doesn't help you, I'll make my way back to Gotham once I'm healed, and I'll help you find him. Maybe it would be beneficial for him, too," Dick promised.
You thanked him a lot. For letting you vent, listening to you complain, and agreeing to help you. Though Dick wasn't the greatest brother to Jason when he was first around, after his death, the two of you got closer. "I think so, too," You said as you pulled into your apartment's parking lot. "I just got home. I appreciate you letting me complain," You smiled into the phone.
"Anytime, you know that," Dick reminded you. "Get some rest, and I'm sure I'll talk to you once you're back at the Cave," Dick said. Both of you said goodnight, and you hung up and headed to your apartment.
It had been a few days since you were home, since you were helping Bruce with this case and taking power naps in the Cave. It did feel good to come home and be alone and just sit in silence. You locked the door and went into the kitchen to heat up some leftovers before you passed out for the night.
As you put your food in the microwave, you heard a noise. You tried not to react, as you knew not to, and kept moving slowly as you listened. There was creaking, and it wasn't the usual "settling" noises; it sounded like someone was shifting their weight. As the microwave started to countdown, you moved around to make it look like you were grabbing other things for your makeshift meal. Instead, you were actually getting to where you stored your taser in the kitchen so you could be prepared if there was someone in your apartment.
Part of you thought you were overthinking things, and there was no one here, but you have been out of the apartment for a few days, and it's totally possible someone snuck their way in. You had no clue if this person was dangerous, so it didn't hurt to arm yourself. As you were getting closer to your taser, you kept hearing these same noises, and you had nearly confirmed someone was hiding around the corner.
Quickly, you grabbed the taser and walked to the corner, the microwave still beeping and covering your noises. You got ready to make your move, and as soon as you turned the corner, you held the taser in front of you with your finger on the trigger and yelled, "Don't move!"
"Don't shoot!" The man said at the same time, putting his hands up in surrender. "It's just me." He said.
As your eyes adjusted to looking at the dark corner, you realized who was standing in front of you. "Jason?" You asked, the word barely making it out of your mouth. "Is it really you?"
Slowly, he nodded. You still had your hand on the taser's trigger. "It is, I promise."
"Take off your helmet," You said, not making another move in case it wasn't actually him.
He moved his hands from beside his head and grabbed the helmet, carefully taking it off and holding it in his right hand, using his left to take off the small black mask still attached to his eyes. He looked up at you with the slightest hint of a smile.
You quickly lowered the taser, then set it on the counter, rushing up to him. "It's really you," You said, standing only a few inches away. You cupped his face in your hands, examining him with your eyes, which were already starting to tear up. "I can't believe it. What are you doing here?"
Jason nodded, his smile growing. "I missed you. And now that you know, I had to come see you. I'm sorry it took me so long," He apologized.
"I think I can forgive you for that, granted I did think you were dead," You said and lowered your hands off his face. He moved to set his helmet and mask down next to where you put the taser on the counter. "I can't believe you're actually alive."
"I know," He sighed. "It's been a rough few years, but I'm here now," Jason said.
You stepped back to look at him from head to toe. "I can't imagine."
He shrugged. "I'll be okay. How about you?"
"I think so," You smiled.
The microwave beeped again, making you realize you missed it the first time. Nodding to yourself, you grabbed the food out of the microwave and set it to the side. You weren't even interested in the food anymore; you just wanted to talk to Jason.
You knew you wanted to talk to him, but the minute you made eye contact with him, all the stuff you had planned to say went out of your head. "I know a lot is going on, and I know we have a lot to talk about," You started. "And trust me, I won't tell Bruce I saw you."
"Really?" He asked, a bit confused at that.
"Really. But I wanted to ask you a favor," You said. Jason nodded, telling you to go on. "Can we have one night that isn't about Red Hood or Batman and just pretend to be normal?" You asked. "We can watch some TV, or just chat about life after five years, or eat some snacks."
Jason looked down and shook his head, and you were worried he was going to decline you. But when he looked back up, and the biggest smile was on his face, you knew. "I would love that."
You smiled just as wide as he was and told him to wait for a second. You ran into your room, ruffled through a drawer in your dresser, and ran back out. "Take this," You handed him the piece of clothing.
Jason opened the sweatshirt and was a bit shocked when he saw it. "Is this one of my oversized hoodies?"
"Alfred gave it to me after he went through your room. He thought I would want it," You explained. "But you can wear it again, and it should fit fine since it was oversized!" You encouraged him.
"I think that is a great idea; I'm glad you kept it," Jason said.
Soon enough, you and Jason were sitting on the couch together like nothing had changed, like it hadn't been five years without each other. There was some late-night show on TV as you told him about your life over the past five years, just happy that you were in his arms again. It was a weird dynamic, and you know he's done some things you don't exactly agree with, but he is your Jason. Bruce said he isn't the same Jason that died five years ago, but sitting here, cuddling with him, you have to disagree.
Maybe you two could work through the weird things together. Jason definitely took a more violent and lethal approach to cleaning up Gotham, but maybe you could help him get out of that habit. You didn't want to tell Bruce you did get to talk to Jason because you were still mad that Bruce wouldn't hear you out or entirely tell you what happened. Maybe once you were over it, but for right now, this night was about you and Jason.
Though it's been five years, when he softly kissed you, it felt like you were right back at a high school dance with your boyfriend, and nothing had changed. Maybe things would work out on this weird, five years later, normal you were living.

The Justice League Hangs out with Duke
Bruce: Duke, it's time we had the talk.
Duke: Uh... nope. No thank you. I'm not getting the sex talk from Batman.
Bruce: What? No! The Robin talk.
Duke: But, I'm- I'm the Signal now? Isn't it a bit late for a Robin talk?
Bruce: Son, it's never too late, not for this.
Duke: Um. Ok.
Bruce: When Dick, Jason, and Tim first started as Robins they created a tradition. A tradition that continued with Stephanie, Damian, and now you.
Duke: And that tradition is?
Bruce: Taking down the Justice League. By being annoying and slightly terrifying.
Duke: OHHHHHH. Is that why no one from the Justice League talks to me?
Bruce: Yes, yes it is. But don't worry. I made an arrangement that will allow you time alone with league members to continue the tradition. You have a week to prepare.
——————
Duke: Cass, what do I do?
Cass raises an eyebrow at Duke.
Duke: For the Robin tradition thing. I have to take down the entire Justice League in a night using creative, outlandish, and original methods. But it's already been done by Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, and Steph. So what do I do? How can I be better than all of them.
Cass smirks: Take them down too.
Duke looking at Cass like she's crazy: What?
Cass: Take. Them. Down.
Duke: Holy shit, you are terrifying.
Cass just smiles and leaves.
-> One Week Later <-
Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, and Steph gather in the Watchtower.
Duke: Hey guys, Batman just wanted to go through some training exercises with everyone. He'll be a little late. Harley and Ivy escaped Arkham and are trying to grow penis shaped shrubs in all the public parks. But, don't worry he asked me to go ahead and start with out him.
Green Lantern: Why are you leading this meeting?
Duke: Batman is running late and he wants me to practice leading meetings.
Green Lantern, glaring suspiciously at Duke: Are you about to do that stupid Robin tradition where you torture all of us?
Duke: What Robin tradition? Also, I'm not even a Robin? I'm the Signal.
Green Lantern continues to glare at him.
Superman: Calm down Green Lantern, the Robins never do this in front of each other.
Every League member seems to relax at this.
Duke acting confused: Uhhh, yeah. Ok, we have a few housekeeping things to do according to the list Batman left. So, I'll have everyone pair up for sparring while I handle these individually.
------
Everyone is in the training room working out or sparring. Duke approaches Tim.
Duke: Hey Tim, Bruce wanted you to look in to that Bludhaven case. Is that ok with you?
Tim: Yeah, why wouldn't it be?
Duke: Oh, I just thought it might be difficult considering what Dick did.
Tim: ...What did he do?
Duke: Wait, you haven't noticed? Oh no, I'm sorry I shouldn't have said anything.
Tim: Duke. Tell me what he did.
Duke: Well, Jason said that he replaced all your coffee with decaf.
Tim: THAT BASTARD. No wonder I've been feeling so tired! I'm going to kill him!
Duke: Wait, just stop! I heard that he hid all of it in Green Lantern's room.
Tim: Wait, why there?
Duke: Something about you being afraid of him.
Tim: WHAT?! I'm not afraid of the Green Nightlight! I'm gonna find that coffee then make Dick pay.
Duke: Oh, well cool, good luck!
------
Green Lantern: Um, what are you doing in my room?
Tim: Where is it?
Green Lantern: Where's what?
Tim: You know what I want. Give up now or face the consequences.
Green Lantern: WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Tim: Fine. Consequences.
------
Steph, sparring with Duke: So, what's it like being the first meta bat?
Duke: Not too bad, but I could do with out the whole 'predict the future' thing.
Steph, laughing: What? You can not see the future.
Duke: I bet you $50 I can
Steph: Your on.
Duke, makes everything around him light up and uses a weird voice: In the next thirty minutes Green Lantern will flee the Watchtower in fear. Soon after Dick will be attacked by Tim.
Steph, snorts in obvious disbelief.
Steph: That was so fake-
Green Lantern runs out of the tower looking terrified.
Steph: No way.
Tim tackles Dick and they start fighting like three year old's on the floor.
Steph, handing Duke $50: Holy shit Magic Man.
Duke makes things light up and does the voice again: Oh my god.
Steph, looking excited: What?!
Duke: The- the sushi. The sushi you brought today, it's made from-
Duke pretends to choke back a sob.
Duke: It's made from the fish who was the maid of honor at Aquaman's wedding.
Steph: HOLY SHIT.
------
Steph and Aquaman sit beside each other for lunch, she pulls out her sushi and looks at Aquaman sadly.
Steph: I am so, so sorry for your loss. But just know that her sacrifice is not in vain.
Aquaman, looks confused for a second then sees the sushi: NOPE. Not this again! I'm leaving.
Steph: Wait! I'm sorry!
Aquaman leaves as Steph tries to chase him down.
------
Jason is laughing and filming as Dick and Tim fight.
Duke, whistles: Man, imagine if that video went on YouTube.
Jason, looking confused: What?
Duke: I'm just saying if the video of Red Robin and Nightwing fighting like kids ever got on YouTube, it'd go viral. Oh and they would be so pissed!
Jason, laughs: Too bad B would kill me if I uploaded this.
Duke: Yeah, I guess so. And you can't upload it here because then Superman would get in trouble.
Jason: Why would the boy scout get in trouble?
Duke: Cause he always uses his YouTube account on the Justice League computer. So it'd look like he uploaded it and B would find out that Superman watches cat videos while he's on monitor duty.
Jason, smirking: Huh, so you're saying if I upload this on the League computer I'd piss off Bruce, Tim, and Dick and get Supes in trouble?
Duke, acting innocent: Huh, I guess so.
-> A Few Minutes Later <-
A call from Bruce comes up on the main computer.
Superman: Hey Batman, what can I do for you?
Bruce: You, Red Hood, cave now.
Jason: What? Why me?
Bruce: Because I saw that little home video you uploaded of your brothers.
Jason: What, that wasn't me!
Bruce: I could hear you laughing while you filmed.
Jason: Dammit.
Jason and Clark leave for the cave pouting like kids.
------
Duke: Hey, Black Canary?
Black Canary: Yes Duke?
Duke: I'm sorry to do this on such short notice, but I'm very worried about Dick and Tim.
Black Canary: Why?
Duke: Well, Tim keeps claiming that Dick is out to get him. Something about Dick messing with his coffee? And Dick feels like he's just being attacked for no reason and is worried about Tim's health. Is there anyway you could intervene?
Black Canary, looking sighing and looking exhausted: Usually I have three days of preparation before dealing with bats.
Duke: I know it's just-
Duke gestures to Tim and Dick rolling on the floor fighting.
Duke: They really need help.
Black Canary: Alright, I'll see what I can do.
Black Canary attempts to intervene only to get pulled into the fight. Now the three of them are tangled in a huge, confusing fight, that's filled with yelling and hair pulling.
------
Duke: Damian! Quick!
Damian: What is it Thomas.
Duke: I think somethings wrong with Dick and Tim and maybe even Black Canary. They're all fighting and won't stop! Can you help me contain them so that we can figure out what's going on?
Damian: Fine. I shall help.
Duke: Ok, just try to herd them into this containment cell.
Damian joins the fight managing to get everyone, including himself, into the containment cell. As Damian is trying to leave Duke closes the cell. Damian angrily yells and bangs on the sound proof walls.
Duke: What? Sorry, can't hear you! My hand slipped!
------
Wonder Woman: Very well done Signal.
Duke, acting innocent: Hm?
Wonder Woman: You tricked Red Robin into scaring Green Lantern away, then into fighting Nightwing. Once that fight broke out you tricked Red Hood into uploading a video to the internet using the Superman's credentials. By uploading that video he caused both himself and Superman to face Batman's wrath. You also used the fight to trick Stephanie into annoying Aquaman to the point of leaving. Then you involved Black Canary in the fight, which was her downfall. And, as a final touch, you managed to get Robin into the fight and trapped all in a containment cell. You successfully eliminated 9 foes with one trick.
Duke: You mean 11.
Wonder Woman: What?
Duke: 11. You see, I didn't trick Red Robin, I tricked Nightwing. I had a week to prepare. In that week I convinced Dick that Tim needed to cut back on the caffeine and that Dick should help by switching all of Tim's coffee with decaf. I also convinced him to hide that coffee in the watchtower, in Green Lantern's room. So that was all true.
Wonder Woman: But, that still does not make 11?
Duke: It does. Because This morning I moved the coffee. I replaced the Flashes decaf with Tim's ultra caffeinated coffee. You see Tim has it specially manufactured to increase the caffeine levels. And, while Flash doesn't usually drink his coffee in the morning, he's always running late and forgets, he does drink coffee during training breaks. Which is now. So in about five minutes we will have an incredibly caffeinated speedster in the Watchtower. And since you're the only one around right now with a chance of catching him, that's your problem.
Right as Duke finishes Flash runs by, majorly hyped up on caffeine.
Duke: Checkmate.
------
Martian Manhunter: It appears that I am the last remaining League member.
Duke: Yeah, I don't really understand this tradition but apparently every Robin ends it by picking a favorite league member.
Martian Manhunter: Out of all the League members, why have you chosen me?
Duke: Your smart and have a lot of cool powers. Also, I dunno, I hear you sometimes feel like an outsider with the league. Cause, the whole martian thing. And I know it's not the same but, sometimes I feel like an outsider with the bats, being the only meta and all.
Martian Manhunter: You have chosen me so that we may bond over our lack of connections?
Duke: Uhhhh, yeah?
Martian Manhunter: Hm. Very well, I assume that this is your “Robin Weakness”. Apparently every Robin has one.

Confessions:
You're up when Bruce comes, a tray in his hand, resting your back against the headboard, playing with your hair.
“Aren't you scared?” You ask him as he locks the door and puts the keys in his pocket.
“Scared of what? You?”
“Of the information I have now. Do you have any idea how many people would pay me to know who's the man behind the bat's mask?” As you speak, Bruce puts the tray on the nightstand. A sandwich and orange juice. You can't remember the last time you ate something so... Normal.
“What? Don't you like orange juice?”
“No, I...” The memories fill your head, like a flood. Tied up to the bed, people hovering over you. But you push it all back. You're a criminal, as dangerous as the Joker or Harley, your beloved sister. You're used to such treatments, and you don't care. “Won't you put all of it in a blender, then feed it to me through a straw? Put it on my nose and push it all the way down to my stomach.” You can't help but laugh at Bruce's face. Disgust, perplexity. “Oh, chill. That's nothing I can't deal with.”
“Haven't you noticed it yet? That I won't hurt you? Or treat you like an animal?”
“Well, you are keeping me here. Against my will. A golden prison is still a prison.” You're trying not to let the food get your attention, but you're starving. And the fact that it's real food makes it even harder.
“I'm only keeping you here because I know that if I set you free, you'll go back to your old life. And will probably end up in Belle Reve again.” Bruce gestures at the tray. “Eat, please.”
“If you ask so nicely.” Taking the tray, you place it on your lap, leaving the glass on the nightstand. Controlling yourself, you take a small bite, trying not to let it show how good it tastes. It feels weird to chew again, almost unnatural.
“I have to say a few things, so pay attention.” Bruce starts, eyes on you. “I'm aware they had you... Sedated... in Belle Reve. And from now on you won't be taking anything else then what I judge necessary. So you'll feel the reactions of the detoxification.”
“I will need painkillers. Heavy stuff.” You tell him in between bites.
“Are you hurt?”
Laying half of the sandwich down, you put the tray away, getting on your knees. “Wanna see how's the skin of a Belle Reve's intern?” Smiling, you lift your shirt, showing him your belly, stomach and ribs. You look down too, eyes observing the pattern of purple bruises, all over your skin. When you look at Bruce again, you don't understand the his expression. It looks like he cares, but there is no reason for him to do so. He's a hero, and you're the villain, his only job is to put you down. He's not supposed to care. “Don't look so surprised, Bruce. I'm used to it. I'm constantly high, so the pain is distant, numbed. Without what they give me... It will hurt.”
“Finish your sandwich.” He simply says, looking away and pacing around.
You decide to obey him just because it does taste good. The juice too. When you're done, you lay the tray back on the nightstand. “So... What now?”
He seems troubled, nervous. “Come and sit here.” He gestures at the armchair. Rolling your eyes, you do as he says. He's seated before you, and you feel like you're in a therapy session.
“May the interrogation begin,” you mutter, crossing your legs and arms.
“I want you to be honest. I just want to understand you.”
“What do you think you can get from that?” Shrugging your shoulders, you lean forward. You try to read him, to understand why is he doing this. Then you remember that he wants to prove a point. “Oh, I just remembered. I'm your project. Your lab rat.” What else could you be in the house of one of the heroes?
“Wouldn't you like to be able to have a normal life? A job you like, your own place, coming and going as you please?”
“I had all that before being thrown into hell on Earth.” As you speak, you feel your head spinning. Is it the detox working on already? You feel a fog in the back of your mind, and you feel your muscles relaxing. Taking a deep breath, you run a hand through your hair. This is not detoxification, this is something else. “What did you gave me?”
“Just something to make you tell me the truth.”
Laughing, you bite your lip. “You're amazing, I have to say.” Your mind is slower, you feel it. You wonder if your body is slower too, or if you could try to escape again. But Bruce is on high alert, you can see it. His eyes never leave you, watching your every move.
“How was your life? Childhood.”
“I know you read my files, Bruce Wayne. Ask something you don't know.” You hate feeling numb. Hugging your knees, you close your eyes shut, trying to shake away the feeling.
“I want to hear it from you.” His voice is distant, like an echo. Is it too much to ask to be left alone? To be awake, fully in control of yourself, your words and feelings... “I'm just trying to help you, and to do that, I need you to be honest. And since I didn't know if you'd cooperate, I had to give you-”
“You're only giving me what you judge necessary, right?” You hiss, face hidden on your knees. “Ask away, Batman. My life is an open book to you and to anyone who thinks to be better than me just because they have the upper hand.”
“Both my parents were killed in front of me when I was a kid.” Bruce bursts out, and it makes you look at him immediately. “I saw their dead bodies, the blood... That night is still a vivid memory, it never leaves me.”
You don't know what he expects you to say. You don't have good memories with your parents to say that you know how he feels. “Bad mother. Dead father, never met him. Harley left home early so I was left alone to deal with a drug addict mother. High School was nice, but that was when I started going out with Harley. Late night parties, dangerous people. I started to learn things, to enjoy those things... Then I knew I wanted that life. It was easy money, easy fun, and people respected me because I was under Harley's protection and she was under the Joker's protection.” It comes out, it doesn't matter if you want it or not. “The story of my life.”
“In the first two years of High School, your grades were high. In senior year, they started to drop. Was that because of your sister?”
“Yeah. I just wanted it to be over, and when I managed to graduate, I left home to be with Harley. But soon enough I built my own place, my own empire, and I didn't need her anymore.” This thing he gave you really works because you're not saying the words you want to.
“Why did you enjoy doing what your sister did?”
“It was so fun... So... Dangerous. The adrenaline is addicting and I never really... I never really...” You bite your tongue, holding it back. You tell yourself to be strong, to get a grip of reality, that you can beat whatever is affecting your mind.
“You never really what?”
You're breathing fast, wondering how long until this damn drug is out of your system.
“You never really what?" Bruce repeat, his voice soft and low.
“I never really had anything else. Anyone else.” It comes out, fast and heavy. “My father died when I was a baby, my mother was a damn drug dealer who made the mistake of tasting her product and I had to keep the few friends I had away from my messed up life and the only way to do that was to push them the hell away.” You feel dizzy, covering your head with both hands. “The more time I spent with Harley and her crew, the more I learned, the more fearless I became and the more they respect me. They feared me.” Why can't you stop talking? Your body isn't trying to get rid of the drug, but it's still absorbing it, making it run through your veins to fulfill its purpose. “I didn't need their kindness, their love, their affection because I could have their fear. I had them do as I said when I said it because they were scared of me. That's the only thing I know!” You're yelling, leaning forward to face Bruce. “I can't be rehabilitated because I don't even know what it's supposed to be like. People don't care about me and I don't care about them. People don't love me, and I don't love them. People aren't kind to me so I won't ever be kind to them. They only do something for me because I have a gun pointed at their faces or because they know I can snap my fingers and have them hurt. This is who I am! This is the mess, the chaos that I am and you're an idiot if you think you can fix me!”
You don't care anymore. You just need to get the hell out of this place. The key is in his pocket, so you attack him. You aim a punch to his face knowing he'll grab your wrist, and when he does, you use the opening to his stomach to kick him hard. You're thrown away, colliding to the side of the bed, but you don't stop to pay attention to the sharp pain on your side. Bruce is standing up now, but his size doesn't scare you. You've fought men like him before. You're used to have a gun, but being unarmed won't make you step down.
Using all your strength, you push his chest hard, succeeding to place a punch in his jaw. He doesn't move much, but it's enough to give you the opportunity to kick his crotch. But Bruce sees what's coming, kicking your leg away and from under you, what sends you hard to the ground. You lay on your arm, and a sharp pain spreads through your left shoulder. Your body isn't working as it usually does. It's slower, it's hurting... The damn drugs they gave you are wearing off. You need to get out of here before they're out of your system.
When Bruce steps closer, you move up to grab his arm, pulling him down as you kick both his legs with all the strength you still have. He collapses the floor beside you, and you take the chance to punch his face again.
“That's enough.” He yells, grabbing both your wrists with one hand, and a groan escapes your lips when he squeezes them to push them away from his face. You're moving to kick his ribs with your knee, but you're lifted up suddenly. You feel pure agony as you violently try to set free. Bruce uses his free hand to grab your legs and throw you on the bed. You're ready to set in motion again, but you're caught off guard by a wave of pain.
You start counting mentally. This is the second day here. It means three days ago you were in your cell, and you remember them injecting the medication. They still wanted you to sleep. But you also remember the slight discomfort that you started feeling a week ago. As if your body was more awaken then usual. It's not like they don't want you to be in pain, they just want you to keep functional, so you can endure more pain without being motionless in a bed for days.
“How long... How long did you have them reduce my drugs?” You ask him, catching your breath.
“Nine days.” He simply answers, fixing his clothes.
“I need something for the pain.” You touch your left shoulder with the right hand, closing your eyes shut. “Shit.”
“Let me see it.” Bruce comes closer, and you open your eyes to see if he'll try anything. He bends over, pulling the arm away from your body. You wince, biting back a groan. “A subluxation.” He pushes your shoulder back, and you hear a crack before a new wave of pain spreads through your arm.
“What the hell?” You exclaim, pushing him away with the other arm.
“It was just a partial dislocation of the shoulder joint. But it's back on its place now, you will be fine.”
“I thought you said you wouldn't hurt me,” you mumble, breathing fast, still holding your shoulder.
“Are you kidding me? Am I supposed to be let you beat me? Because I know what you're capable of.”
“Are you scared of me? You. Six feet tall, a mountain of muscles. What? Can't you take a beating from me?” He can. “I can take a beating from you, hero. I've been taking beatings for a year now, on a regular basis.” You have to push the memories away before they flood your mind. The numbness from the medication makes it worse since you're awake to feel the hit, but the body isn't. You know it hurts, that it'll hurt later, but you keep being hurt. Over and over again, non stop. “I asked them to stop once, during my first week there. Do you know why they were beating me that day?” You stand on your knees, holding your left arm close to your body. Your stomach burns and you feel tears in your eyes, but you hold them back. Tears won't get you anywhere, anger will.
“Because you attacked someone." Bruce seems so sure of it, that it makes you laugh.
“I demanded a coat. A damn coat because it was cold!” You're yelling, fighting back the tears, laughing instead. “I asked them to stop, big mistake. It only made it worse. From that day on I decided to just take it. To endure it because that's what I deserve.” Lifting your shirt to show him the bruises, you feel one single tear rolling down. “See this? I survived through every single one of these.” Why are you crying? You don't cry. Clenching your fist, you bring it against your ribs hard, and the pain that follows is greater than you expected. You gasp, falling forward.
“Stop it." Bruce takes both your wrists, pushing you to lie down “If you do this again, I'll chain you up.”
“Don't worry about me,” you mutter, smiling. “I can take this.”
“I don't care if you can take this, I don't want you hurting yourself.”
“I don't need to hurt myself, everyone else does it for me.” Your voice is weak, and you look away from him. Bruce let's go of your wrists but doesn't move. He's seated on the bed, right beside you.
“I know it's hard for you to understand it, but as long as you're here, nobody will hurt you. I won't hurt you.”
With a hand on your forehead, you avoid his stare. “If it was the other way around... If I kidnapped and kept you in a room, locked... You'd be scared too. You would know I was going to hurt you.”
“It's true. But I didn't kidnap you.” You feel when he stands up, watching as he pulls the armchairs back to their places. “I choose you because I want to help you. If this works, I might get you a pardon. You would be free.”
“I admire your hope, Bruce Wayne, but you just don't understand. I don't know how to deal with people anymore. The only relationship I know is the ones where I give an order and it is obeyed. Anything other than that doesn't exist. Not for me. I'm a criminal, I meant to be hated.” You're not proud of this, not now. There's a part of you, deep down inside, that wish it could change. If only you could go back in time and change things... But now it's too late. You are who you are, the person you built yourself to be. “Give up. Throw me back into Belle Reve before I get used to nice baths and comfortable beds.”
“I'll see you tonight.” He says before leaving the room, and you sigh to hear the door locking.
You're used to the loneliness. Turning off the lights and closing the curtains, you lay in the darkness. You follow the logic of Belle Reve. Since there's nothing to do, there's no reason to keep the lights on. Darkness is where you belong, they say, then live in it. And so you do.
You have a good notion of the time passing, so you count the minutes, one by one. There's no way to know where you'll be tomorrow, if Bruce will accept the fact that this is stupid and send you back. But maybe it's for the best.
No, you have to focus. An opportunity. This is an opportunity to escape, and you need to take it. You can't let anything else get your attention, or distract you. You have to use this chance to go back home. To the only dirty, cold place you can call that.

4. Your Muse Is Injured
Trust Me - Alfred & Timothy Drake Headcannon
Tumblr media
The last few months had been far too quite if Alfred had anything to say about it. Therefore when Bruce called from an abandoned warehouse shouting down the phone for Alfred to get in the car, he feared the worst. (Red Robin Era)
Alfred had been away for the past week on a much needed holiday while Bruce and Tim worked on a rather sensitive investigation around a drugs gang.
The second night of being home he received that panicked call from Bruce, Timothy was injured, badly.
He’d be knocked unconscious by the rouges and dragged off, it had taken Bruce over two hours to locate the teen and found him aside a small pool of blood alone in a abandoned warehouse.
A single stab wound leaked slowly and Bruce fearing for the amount of bruises that marred the boy’s skin. He’d fumbled for his phone, for the coms with blood slicked fingers, Jason flashing before his eyes and cried down the phone for Alfred to save him.
Alfred had burst through the doors of the warehouse alongside Richard in his police uniform not fifteen minutes later. Bruce was nowhere to be seen as Alfred had requested and the pair set about stabilizing Timothy onto a body board and into the backseat of the police car.
The fact the Robin was in uniform and Bruce was likely somewhere in watch, Dick agreed to drive back to the manor before taking Timothy to a hospital.
“Al-” “Alf”
Timothy awoke as the pair slid him on to the bed in the cave. Fear in his eyes and shaking in shock. “Alf-red?”
Blood covered both himself and the boy, never mind Richard as they set about trying to clean the boy down. Alfred had stripped out of his clothes into his sterile white lab gear and cared none for the blood that seeped into the white as he leant over the teen on the bed holding him as he attempted to calm him enough to talk him through the situation.
“Trust me...”
“I don’t-don’t take me-no hospital, don’t-take me-”
The shadow of Jason’s death hung in the air unspoken as he set about giving the teen an aesthetic. “Trust me, Timothy, I won’t let you go, your going be fine, look at me, Timothy-”
He stops, dropping the tools aside and holding the boy's head turning his focus from the blood and his worried older brother to his eyes. “Timothy, trust me, your going to be fine, I just need to stop the bleeding” He begs pressing a kiss to the boy’s sweat damp hair and taking the towels from Richard. “Talk to him while he falls alseep”
Alfred pinpointed all his focus onto the deep wound trying not to listen to the fact Richard as he sat beside Timothy, was crying on the unconscious teen’s shoulder.
He had to thank what ever gods existed that the blade had missed any vital organs as well as any major arteries. The amount of luck the boy had been given made him fear for the outcome of an infection. Memories of soldiers and friends passed in front of his eyes as the raw smell of blood teased at the edges of memories of times before Timothy was even born.
Cleaning and stitching the wound had take over an hour Alfred’s finger’s burning from the strain as he worked to suture minutely, mending muscle and skin as best he could as to reduce the chance’s of tearing, affixing a drain to the boy’s side to help prevent infections and swelling took Richards help and eventually they had Timothy stable and settled in clean sheets, Alfred set about bed bathing the teen as Richard turned to aid Bruce as he stumbled through the cave entrance battered and exhausted.
He ignored there fighting, the shouts drowning away as he hummed a song under breath, a song he’d heard Timothy play on his radio before now entirely lost to the ticking of the words in his mind...Trust me.
Hours later, Alfred existed the elevator into the house greeted by the crowed family in the office and watched as each one lost the color in there face at the sight of him still bloody and frighteningly calm. He scanned each face until he landed on Bruce, still geared as Batman, the anger and disappointment in Alfred's eyes spoke volumes beyond anything he could say. Turning to the boys he granted them to sit with there sibling in the cave while he changed, and later found them all eating takeaway laughing and joking aside the now conscious teen.
“Alfie, tell them I’m fine, they’re saying I can’t go to Kon’s Birthday party next week”
Alfred sighs taking in all the concerned faces that turn his way as he sits down at the right side head of Timothy’s bed. He picks up the clipboard and notes something before dropping it back down. The echoes of Dick and Jason arguing with Bruce rang through his ear ‘WE LEFT BECAUSE WE CANT FUCKING TRUST YOU FOR A SECOND BRUCE”
“Do you trust me Timothy?”
Timothy blinked and everyone paused. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“Your not out of the woods just yet...”
The boy swallowed and looked over to Bruce who hadn’t taken his eyes from the desk he was glaring at.
“I trust you...” His siblings looked hopeful as the boy pictured together the last few hours. “All in all, you were probably the only person too at the time”
“As long as you trust me, you are going be just fine” Alfred smiles.
“Always Alfie...”
Alfred minutely acknowledges the hand of Jason on his own. “Always”
He would always be the reason this family survived.
As long as they trusted him to be.

The Rise Of Iron Maiden
Chapter 7: The Time Heist

Previous Chapter: Whatever it Takes
A/N: pretty short chapter, but shits about to go down. Also literally everyone’s adopting Tye, he just keeps getting passed around
You blink, and you’re somewhere in New York City. You look around, recognizing what was happening; this was when the Avengers first became a team. You looked to Apache Chief, Iron Man, Captain America and Ant Man for orders.
“All right, we all have our assignments. Two Stones uptown, one Stone, down. Stay low. Keep an eye on the clock.” Captain America said.
“Alright, you two know how to get to the Sanctum from here?” Your dad asked as he retracted his helmet to look you both in the eye.
“Got it, dad.” You nodded, retracting your own helmet.
“Isn’t this so cool? We just time traveled!” Scott whispered to you two.
“Easy there, Marty McFly.” Tye pat his shoulder.
“Focus please?” Tony snapped at you.
“We’ll get the Time Stone, don’t worry.” You reassure him. “You gotta remember we can handle ourselves, dad.”
“I’m well aware you can handle yourselves.” Your dad said before opening his mouth to add a snarky comment.
“Go.” Steve ordered you.
You nod and turn to leave, then rushed to your dad and tackled him in a hug. He was surprised at first, thinking you were still angry with him about the past couple of years. Your hug was an apology, which he graciously accepted and held you close.
“I love you, dad.” You whispered.
“Love you too, kiddo.” He squeezed you slightly before letting you go. “Now get out of here. We’ve got our reality to save.”
You nod before following Tye, looking back one last time. You run along the streets, chaos surrounding you as Chitauri attack civilians. You don’t worry about them though, your only goal being the Time Stone.
“So you know how to get there right?” Tye asked as you both ran. “Cause I don’t know where I’m going!”
“It’s just up ahead! I can see the cafe Eduardo...” you trail off, remembering the date you went on when this all started.
“Hey, don’t worry.” Tye told you as you both ducked when a truck was thrown your way. “Think about how close we are. We are so close to seeing everyone again.”
“I know, I know.” You nod as you both stand back up.
“Now lets go get that Stone.” He holds his fist out to you, and you fist bump before darting off again. You activate your helmet and grab Tye’s hand, then fly up when you see the Sactum. The door had rubble all around it, but you figured there would be a roof exit.
You land behind a bald lady in yellow robes, fending off Chitauri with the same magic you saw Doctor Strange using.
“I'd be careful going that way.” Your and Tye spun around when she spoke. “We just had the floors waxed.”
“Uh...ma'am, we’re looking for Doctor Strange.” You day awkwardly.
“You're about... five years too early. Stephen Strange is currently performing surgery about twenty blocks that way. What do you want from him?” She asked calmly.
“That, actually.” Tye pointed to the Eye Of Agamotto around her neck.
“Ah! I'm afraid not.” She shook her head.
“Sorry, but I wasn’t asking.” Tye said as you both moved towards her.
“You don’t want to do this.” She smiled, not even moving back.
“You’re right, we don’t.” You say as you make a grab for the Eye of Agamotto. “But we need that stone, and I don't have time to beat it-“
She swiftly shoved you back, and you watched as you floated out of your body. You stared in shock, horrified that she just did that. Tye watched with his jaw dropped, backing away from the lady.
“Let’s start over shall we?” She asked.
Your astral form looked at Tye’s regular one, then down at your body lying on the floor.
“Um, why didn’t you push his soul out of his body?” You sassed, irritated.
“His astral form is different from yours. I simply can’t.” She shrugged.
“How’d you know that?” Tye’s eyes widened, now thoroughly creeped out.
“Look, lady, we need that stone.” You glared at her.
“Please.” Tye added.
“I'm sorry, I can't help you, Y/N and Tye. If I give up the Time Stone to help your Reality, I'm dooming my own.” She sighed as she started to walk away.
“With all due respect, I'm not sure the science really supports that.” You said as you followed her.
She looked at you for a moment and raised an eyebrow, before creating a projection to represent the flow of time.
“The Infinity Stones create what you experience as the flow of time. Remove one stone and that flow splits.” She flicked the Time Stone projection away and showed a black stream, indicating a point of divergence. “Now, this may benefit your reality, but my new one…not so much. In this new branched Reality, without our chief weapon against the forces of darkness, our world will be overrun. Millions will suffer. So, tell me, child of Stark, can your science prevent all that?”
“No, but we can erase it. Because once we are done with the stones, we can return each one to its own timeline at the moment it was taken. So, chronologically,” you grab the Time Stone projection and put it back. “...in that reality, it never left.”
“But you are leaving out the most important part. In order to return the stones, you have to survive.” She said, still not convinced.
“We will.” Tye said sternly. “We promise.”
“I can't risk this Reality on a promise. It is the duty of the Sorcerer Supreme to protect the Time Stone.” She shook her head again.
“Then, why the hell did Strange give it away?” Tye raised his voice in frustration.
She finally turned around to face both of you, eyes wide in surprise.
“What did you say?” She asked.
“Strange, he gave it away. He gave it to Thanos.” Tye told her.
“Willingly?”
“Yes! I watched him!” You insisted.
“...why?”
“I have no idea!” You shrug.
“Maybe it was a mistake.” Tye said. “But he did.”
“Or I did.” She sighed, then pushed you back into your body.
“Oh, that’s much better.” You sigh as Tye helped you up. You watch as she opens the Eye of Agamotto, the Time Stone glowing green.
“Strange is meant to be the best of us.” She mumbled in thought.
“So he must have done it for a reason.” You nodded.
“I fear you might be right.” She said as she gave you the Time Stone.
“Thank you.” You smiled at Tye in relief and victory.
“I’m counting on you, Y/N and Tye. We all are.” She said, watching you take the Time Stone like a first time mother giving her child to a babysitter.
“Ready?” You asked Tye as you both prepared to go back.
“Hell yeah.” He grinned.
You grabbed each other’s hand in a handshake then pulled each other into a one armed hug, patting each other on the back. Then you hit a few buttons on your watches, and you were sucked back into the present day. You both retract your helmets and look around, seeing everyone also doing the same.
“Did you get them all?” Bruce asked as he rushed up to meet you guys on the platform.
“You telling me this'll actually work?” Rhodey asked happily.
“Wait...where’s mom?” Tye asked, staring at the spot where she used to be standing between him and Clint.
“Clint? Where’s Nat?” Bruce asked as everyone stared at him for an answer. He didn’t say anything, his eyes clouded with mourning. Tye fell to his knees and you tried to catch him, and you stared at him in shock when you saw a single tear fall down his face to the floor. You had never seen him cry, hardly ever show emotions at all. Your own sadness also dragged you down, but you had to s strong.
“We should...get out of these suits.” Rocket mumbled after awhile.
You all got out of your time suits and handed them off to Rocket and Scott, and you, Tye and the remaining Avengers were led out to the lakeside by Tony. You hugged your dad and silently cried, everyone else standing and staring at the water.
“Do we know if she had family?” Your dad asked as he rubbed your back to comfort you.
“Yeah. Us.” Steve mumbled.
“What?” Thor asked, confused.
“I just asked him a question–“
“Yeah, you're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, Cap, we can bring her back, isn't that right? So stop this shit. We're the Avengers, get it together.” Thor snapped.
“We can’t get her back.” Clint shoot his head.
“What?”
“It can’t be undone.”
“I'm sorry. No offense, but you're a very earthly being. Okay? We're talking about space magic. And "can't" seems very definitive don't you think?”
“Yeah, look, I know that I'm way outside my paygrade here. But she still isn't here, is she?”
“No, that's my point–“
“It can't– be undone. Or that's at least what the red floating guy had to say.” Clint became angry and started shouting. “Maybe you wanna go talk to him, okay? GO GRAB YOUR HAMMER, AND YOU GO FLY AND TALK TO HIM!”
Clint’s face fell, grief clouding his judgement. You blinked away tears and let go of your dad, moving to stand next to your friend, who’s eyes never left the water.
“It was supposed to be me. She sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone. She bet her life on it.” Clint’s voice cracked.
Bruce grabbed a bench, and in a burst of anger, he hurled it clear across the entire lake.
“She's not coming back. We have to make it worth it. We have to.” Bruce clenched his fists.
“We will.” Steve reassured him.
During another long stretch of silence, Tony motioned for you to follow him. You left the dock with him, Thor, and Steve, leaving Clint, Bruce and Tye alone. They need more time than you, since they were all closest with her.
Flashbacks of Natasha raced through Tye’s mind, his brain still hardly comprehending she was gone forever. He thought about the first time he called her mom. The day she taught him how to shoot a gun. When they watched old football games together and cheered, despite already knowing the outcome.
“You called her mom?” Clint said as he stood next to Tye, Bruce still pacing behind them.
“Yeah. She said I could.” Tye said quietly.
“Didn’t know you two were so close. Even before the Snap.”
“You were gone.” He said bitterly. “You wouldn’t know.”
Clint was about to retort, but shut his mouth. The kid was right. He was gone. He left them. He left Natasha. He left Tye.
Before the Snap they were close, Clint always helped Tye work on his speed and accuracy. They were sarcastic together, and would play pranks on the rest of the team together. Clint accepted Tye into his own family, since the kid never really had one.
“I’m sorry, Tye.” Clint said after awhile. Tye didn’t answer, but didn’t protest when Clint draped an arm around his shoulders.
You watched as your dad and Dr. Banner start to place the Stones in the new gauntlet, carefully and and nervously.
“Boom!” Rocket shouted from beside you, Tony and Bruce both jumping and whipping around to glare at him. Rocket and Tye snickered to each other, then laughed loudly when Tony threatened them.
They bring the gauntlet to another room, where everyone gathered in their usual superhero suits.
“All right. The glove's ready. Question is, who's gonna snap their freaking fingers?” Rocket asked.
“I’ll do it.” Thor said.
“Excuse me?” Scott asked.
“It’s okay.” Thor shrugged, and moved towards the gauntlet.
“No, no, no, whoa. Stop. Stop. Wait a sec. Hey, hey–!” Everyone shouted at him.
“Wait, wait, Thor, just wait. We haven't decided who's gonna put that on yet.” Steve held him back.
“I'm sorry. What, we're just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity?” Thor asked.
“We should at least discuss it.” Scott said, Rhodey agreeing with him.
“No, no, sitting here staring at that thing is not gonna bring everybody back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So this responsibility falls upon me. It's my duty.” Thor insisted.
“Thor, this isn’t about that-“ you start.
“It's not that– Stop it! Just let me!” Thor started to tear up. “Just let me do it. Just let me do something good. Something right.”
“Look– It's not just the fact that that glove is channeling enough energy to light up a continent, I'm telling you, you're in no condition.” Tony explained to him.
“What do you– What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?” Thor asked.
“Cheez Whiz.” Rhodey mumbled, Rocket elbowing Tye as they both snickered.
“Lightning.” Thor snapped at them.
“Yeah.” Tony sighed.
“Lightning won’t help you, pal.” Bruce said, everyone turned to him. “It’s gotta be me.”
Everyone stared at him.
“You saw what those stones did to Thanos. It almost killed him. None of you could survive.” Bruce told you.
“How do we know you will?” Steve asked.
“We don't. But the radiation's mostly gamma.” He moves towards the gauntlet. “It's like...I was made for this.”
“Good to go, yeah?” Your dad asked.
“Let’s do it.” Bruce nodded.
“You remember– everyone Thanos snapped away five years ago and just bringing them back to now, today. Don't change anything from the last five years.” Tony instructed everyone.
“Got it.” You nodded.
Everyone suited up and prepared, you held up a shield for you and Tye as Rocket hid behind both of you.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y., do me a favor and activate Barn Door Protocol. Will you?” You asked the AI system.
“Yes, boss.” She said and the facility goes into lockdown.
“Everyone comes home.” Bruce whispered to himself as he puts on the gauntlet. He grunts in pain when the power surges through his veins, making them glow.
“Take it off! Take it off!” Thor shouted.
“No wait!” Tye shouted.
“Bruce, you okay?” Steve asked.
“Talk to me, Banner.” Tony said calmly.
“I’m okay. I’m okay.” Bruce nodded.
You kept the shield up when he snapped, screaming in pain. He passes out, the gauntlet falling off his hand, and Clint kicked it away.
“Bruce!” Steve shouted.
“Don’t move him.” Tony ordered.
“Did it work?” Bruce asked weakly.
Scott walked to the window, seeing plants and birds. A smile makes a way to his face. You followed Clint when you heard his phone ringing, joy overwhelming you when you saw his wife’s name. Your phone was on the counter next to him, and a moment later you saw ‘Lalo’ on the screen.
“It’s Jaime.” Tye pulled out his own phone from his pocket.
“It’s Eduardo.” You smile, and you both answer your phones.
“Y/N? Y/N!” Eduardo shouted in panic.
“Eduardo? You’re alive?” You smile, tears pouring down your face.
“Guys...I think it worked.” Scott alerted you all.
“Princesa, tell me you’re okay!” Eduardo shouted.
You didn’t get the chance to answer, when suddenly, the compound exploded.

A/N: I had this idea a while ago and thought it was pretty cool, I'll try my best!
Pairing: Jason Todd × Reader
Prompt: You have been together with Jason for a while, you both said "I like you" and gone in a couple of dates, you enjoyed each other's company, but all changed when Jason said "I love you", you were scared, saying I like you is one thing but love... That scared the shit out of you, so you distanced yourself from Jason... Will you be able to tell him I love you back? Or will you be too scared of your emotions and back away?
Warnings: swearing and slight smut ( not hardcore don't worry)
Song: Naked- James Arthur
youtube
I'm Standing Here Naked
What the hell am I supposed to do... He said he loves me... But I'm so scared, I've never been in a proper relationship, Jason was the first one...
It's true I've had my flings from time to time with boys, but never anything serious, I liked that, mostly because in those "relationships" I didn't have to open up, I would just enjoy time with them, have sex, and later break it off without having my heart broken.
I thought I would always be from flower to flower without getting attached, and when I was starting to feel something towards the guy (apart from sexual attraction) I would run away and forget about it....
But all of this changed when I met him... Fucking Jason Todd.... He had that bad boy vibe that I liked so much, and how smooth he was as well as well build, damn that body of his...
It started with just casual sex, we met at a bar and decided to have a one night stand, but we found each other again and without knowing it we started dating, I don't know why I didn't get away this time, there was something about him that made me stick close to him...
After nine months dating, one afternoon, we were at his flat, I was outside in his balcony admiring the sunset, it was definitely a beautiful sight, when I felt two arms wrap around my waist and pull me towards a strong chest
"Hey babe" Said Jason giving me a small peck on my neck
I only hummed in response and laid my head on his chest relaxing my whole body against his, turning around slowly and reaching for his face giving him a kiss
"(y/n)..." The kiss started to get more urgent and his hands slide down to the lower part of my back, pressing me harder against him
"I love you..." He said breaking the kiss
It took me a couple of seconds to realize what he said, and as soon as I did my eyes opened wide and I pushed him away from me
"What... Jason I..." " Why would you say that..."
"What do you mean why? I love you (y/n)" " I really do, look you don't have to say it back, do it whenever you are ready..." He said leaving a small kiss on my forehead and going back inside
After that day things started to get bad, I would always try to change the subject when he brought up the matter, and when he would say I love you I would tense up, and after weeks of being like that Jason bursted
"I'm tired (y/n), I'm fucking tired of this shit...(A/N:I just want a relationship so I'm gonna give you a bunch of reasons why you should date me... Ok, sorry lets continue) I know I told you I would wait for you but I don't know how longer I can wait, I want to take the next step but you won't let me..."
"Jay, what next step? We are already dating is not like we are fuck buddies without any romance involved"
"(y/n)... I want you to move in with me to present you as my girlfriend to my family and I meet yours, to level up things, but I can't do that unless I know you want it too, that you love me as much as I love you..."
" Jay I told you I'm not ready...I..."
"You keep saying that all the time!! Whenever I try to talk to you about it you change the subject or get all tense and ignore me... I'm done with that bullshit (y/n)!! I'm giving myself fully to you but I only get a part of you!"
"Jay..."
"No, I'm tired of always trying to know more things about you but you not letting me..."
At this point I was starting to get mad
"Then you shouldn't have said "I love you"!!"
I yelled and Jason looked at me with a surprised look on his face later replaced by an angry scowl
" Not say "I love you", so I'm just supposed to shut my feelings?! "
"No! But you put a pressure on me that I don't like... And I..."
"You know what, whatever (y/n), I'm done, I'm going to give you space to think, I can't keep waiting on you like a lost puppy, I've waited long enough.... Make your fucking decision, because I can't take it, either you finally tell me how you feel about me or we are through... Goodbye (y/n)..."
And just like that he grabbed his keys and left my apartment leaving me there dumbfounded with tears slowly threatening to fall down my cheeks...
Weeks passed and I felt like shit, I couldn't sleep, I kept waking up in the middle of the night searching for that warmth that used to be next to me, holding me, keeping my nightmares and fears away, but there was nothing there, only cold sheets
Was this feeling love? To feel that you can barely take a step knowing that person is not going to be waiting for you at home, that you are going to look at your phone and no longer see a text from him making you smile... Or his touch...
I've tried talking with my best friends Barbara and Cass, to see if they could help me, but that only helped me realize that I was right this... Whatever I'm feeling is love... And I can't help but think that I fucked up... I ignored the only person who made me feel this way, and all because I was scared... Scared of getting hurt, scared of opening up and being judged...
A couple of days after talking with the girls a letter came to my house, my name was written on the envelope in beautiful gold cursive letters, very majestic if you asked me. It was an invitation to the next Bruce Wayne gala, at first I didn't understand, Jason never said anything about me, so why was I invited? Turns out the Bruce Wayne was going to host a gala to raise money for Gotam's hospital, which meant that I would be attending due to the fact that I'm a doctor working in said hospital, the thing is that if Bruce was the host, Jason would be there...
The day of the gala came and I was in the car with Barbara and Cass heading to the Wayne's Mannor, Dick ( Barbara's boyfriend and Jason's brother) was driving us there, and I couldn't help but wish that Jason didn't attend, which was pretty probable due to his dislike towards galas...
An hour in everything seemed to go smoothly, you chatted with some of your colleagues, with your friends and drank some champagne, until you saw him... He was looking breathtaking, he wore a black tuxedo with a red tie, damn he looked so handsome, that's when you found his gaze straight at you, looking you up and down, you were wearing an esmerald dress with no strips
Tumblr media
It looked like he was going to approach you but stopped and turned around leaving the room
You tried following him, you know what to do, and you wanted you boyfriend back, you had fucked up so much already, you needed him
You couldn't find him, it was like if earth had swallowed him, just then the scenario lighted up and Bruce appeared
"Thank you everyone for coming, I would like to inform that thanks to your cooperation a big amount of money is being raised, and for that I thank you again... Now I would like to present my son Jason Todd, who has an important message for a special someone"
The lights went a bit down and Jason stepped on the stage, thanking Bruce and getting the microphone from him, and a melody started playing...
🎵Hey, you there
Can we take it to the next level, baby, do you dare?
He looked directly at me and the crowd in front of me made place for me to walk closer, but I was shocked and couldn't move, until someone pushed me *ahem* Barbara *ahem* making me stand in the front row
Don't be scared
'Cause if you can say the words, I don't know why I should care
I dropped my head down
'Cause here I am, I'm givin' all I can
But all you ever do is mess it up
Yeah, I'm right here, I'm tryin' to make it clear
That getting half of you just ain't enough
I could feel tears starting to form in the corner of my eyes
I'm not going to wait until you're done
Pretending you don't need anyone
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm not gonna try 'til you decide
You're ready to swallow all your pride
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
My heart started to beat fast and I felt glances fall up on me but I couldn't take my eyes from Jason
Hey, get out
I've got nothin' left to give for you give me nothin' now
Read my mouth
If you ever want me back, then your walls need breakin' down
I could feel how hurt he was and after those lines my hands reached up and covered my mouth
'Cause here I am, I'm givin' all I can
But all you ever do is mess it up (all you ever do is mess it up)
Yeah, I'm right here, I'm tryin' to make it clear
getting half of you just ain't enough
My tears started slowly going down my cheeks
I'm not going to wait until you're done
Pretending you don't need anyone
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm not gonna try 'til you decide
You're ready to swallow all your pride
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I wanna give you everything
I wanna give you everything
I wanna give you everything
I wanna give you everything
I'm not going to wait until you're done
'Cause you pretended you don't need anyone
'Cause you see that I'm naked (naked, naked)
Oh, you see that I'm naked (naked, naked)
I'm not going to try 'til you decide
You're ready to swallow all your pride
I'm standing here naked (naked, naked)
I'm standing here naked (I'm standing) (naked, naked)
I'm standing
I'm standing here🎵
When he finished a roar of applause grew among the room, but I didn't hear it, I could only hear my heart pounding in my ears, and without thinking I ran up the stage and jumped on Jason, giving him the most passionate kiss we've ever shared, not caring about the rest
At first he didn't respond but after a second he rapped his arms around my waist and pulled me up pressing our bodies together
After what seemed minutes but were roughly seconds we pulled apart, I gazed at him while he removed a tear from my cheeck
"I love you Jason Peter Todd"
And with that he kissed me again and a louder roar of applause was heard
That night we both returned to his apartment and took each other's clothes off, kissing and feeling each other, which felt heavenly after all that time apart
(You know what happened next...)
We were both laying on his bed hugging each other and Jason giving me soft kisses all over my face and neck
"I love you (y/n)"
"I love you too Jaybird"
He pecked my lips and brought me closer to his chest, both falling asleep in each other's arms and the warmth that they both had so much missed...
THE END
Hope you liked it! I enjoyed so much writing this!! And I love Jason Todd😍😁
Till next time! Let me know if you have any requests...

Hi! So your writing is super good and I was wondering if you could write something for me? When you have time of course! So I was thinking about how Harry has said that he isn't attractive, that sometimes you can tell when a person is using you (and other times you can't). I think he's really insecure and has been used a lot. Probably cries himself to sleep, jerks off a lot in hotels, spends holidays alone. Well what if he had a new neighbor who is also alone, and though he doesn't talk much to
(cont) her, she does little things sometimes like leave notes at his door with something good about him on them, or gives him flowers from her garden. And, well, what if she comes over on Christmas eve and has a plate of cookies and is wearing a hideous holiday sweater and just says “I thought you might like some company. I could use some.” And they end up spending a great night and he realizes that he’s actually HAPPY for the first time in ages?
UR JOKING this is so cute I hope this does your request justice😍
Tumblr media
The idea that with fame comes a maginitude of personal connections and close relationships was something Harry always struggled with. Of course, he had his select close friends and loving family, but there were only so many days that they could take a break from their own lives and jobs to spend time with the lonely rockstar. There were endless amounts of people willing to fill the empty voids in Harry’s life; so many so that he had to mute his phone most days because they wouldn’t leave him alone. It was sometimes difficult for Harry to tell the difference between people he had in his life that had his best interests at heart as opposed to those who simply wanted their own 5 minutes of fame. He’s seen it countless times; someone whom he thought was in it for the long haul, only to be met with disappointment when they leaked a story or left him in the dust. So, he went with the easiest option he could think of -secluding himself. Days spent alone, other than with the soft purring of Evie at his side on the porch swing, just preparing for his next album. Life around him kept on moving, the private streets of the neighborhood were filled with the sounds of children playing in their yards, families walking their dog, and the occasional block party. Yet all of it stayed in the background of Harry’s life. Like white noise fluttering through his extraordinary yet somehow still extremely mundane life.
Except for the girl next door. She was a quite girl, spending most of her time at, what he assumed was her job, and coming home to a corgi he had learned, through playful yells across the yard, was named Bean. Upon waking up one morning months ago and seeing a young girl moving into the house next door, past experiences crept into his mind. Would she be posting everything he did? Would he be able to leave his house without being met with a flashing camera? Would she be crazed and try to break in? But, none of his fears ended up coming true. In fact, it was the exact opposite. She kept to herself, enough that it reminded Harry of himself in the way that he never saw her spending time with anyone. Of course, there was a guest or two every once and while, but she didn’t seem to mind spending most days relatively alone. The two didn’t have many interactions, but when they did, it always brought a smile to Harry’s face. A quick hello here and there. A basket of homemade cat treats left for Evie. Small notes left on each other’s doors, carrying quick and encouraging messages to one another like; “you have a lovely garden” or “you have the most beautiful cars”. Harry found the first note about two months ago, after stepping out onto his front porch, ready to head to the studio. The small creme colored note taped to his front door read “You have a beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing it with me. I hope you never stop finding inspiration.” There was always a risk to sitting outside on his deck and singing melodies to songs not yet written, but for some reason, her hearing them didn’t bother him. He spent hours at the studio that day.
It was now the middle of December, the London air holding a certain crispness that seemed to only appear around the holidays. Like the planet knew everyone was bundled up, enjoying the warmth and company brought to them by being surrounded by their loved ones. Almost everyone. Harry was no stranger to having quiet holidays, but living in a community with many large families and loud holiday parties really had brought out the worst in him. Anne and Gemma had been snowed in by the rogue storm and reluctantly wouldn’t be able to make the trip down to his house this year. So, while everyone else began their festivities, Harry was joined by the flickering light of the television. He was seated in the living room, lounged under the heated throw blanket Anne had gifted him at the start of winter, while Evie rested on his lap so she could soak up a bit of the residual heat, and the unmistakable sound of Bruce Willis echoed through the eerily decorated yet empty room.
“Well, Merry Christmas Eves.” Harry muttered, scratching the back of his cat’s ear and earning a loud purr. “It’s just you, me and Bruce this year.”
Much to his surprise that the device actually works, due to the lack of use, Harry’s doorbell rang. Hoping that the “snowed in” excuse was just that, Harry sprang to his feet, uttering a quick apology to Evie who was unsuspectingly thrown to her feet in the commotion, and ran across the living room to answer the front door. The smile of his face was comepltely forgotten as soon as he opened the door, immediately recognizing that it wasn’t who he thought and his family was, in fact, not just making up an excuse.
“Oh. It’s you.”
“Not quite the reaction I was hoping for.”
Y/N, his neighbor, was stood on his front porch, clad in a pair of Christmas themed leggings, a thick winter jacket, and a matching scarf/hat/mittens set. A large tin rested in her left hand as well as a very large bottle of Moscato in her right.
“Oh, no, um sorry! I didn’t mean it like that! Just thought maybe it was someone else.” his now warm cheeks were a stark contrast to the winter breeze that began blowing through his front door.
“Oh yeah. I had to stand in line behind all your other friends just to make it up to your front door.”
“Like you have anyplace to talk, Miss ‘I only hang out with Bean everyday.”
Y/N threw her head back in an uncontrollable laugh, slightly the sound slightly echoing through his empty yard. There was a soft white glow from the moon illuminating the back of Y/N, creating a full body halo and beautiful aura to his neighbor. As the angelic sound softened and her head came back to it’s natural resting place, she shifted her weight from left to right. “I saw that the driveway was empty and figured you could use the company. I know I could. and I have cookies and alcohol so...”
“Yeah, yeah please come in.”
It had been a few days since Harry had anyone over his house, the last people being Mitch, Sarah and Clare popping over to discuss steps on the next album. So, having YN standing in his foyer, removing her winter coat to reveal one of the worst Christmas jumper’s he’s ever seen, was a different feeling. The pair made their way into the living, where the television was still shining and Evie was cuddled on top of the heated blanket that was now piled on the floor.
“Please don’t tell me you’re one of those people who thinks Die Hard is a Christmas movie.” Y/N laughed, sitting down on the couch.
“Of course it is! John McClane has to rescue everyone from a Christmas Party! The entire movie is set on Christmas Eve and it plays Christmas music!”
“It absolutely is not! That movie could be set on any other day of the year and still be the exact same movie and the only person wearing any Christmas apparel is a dead guy!”
Easy conversation flowed between the pair, only stopping to refill their wine glasses or have uncontrollable laughing fits. It was fun to have the company, a nice change of pace in the large house. It was easy for Harry to see how kind Y/N was, how her eyes lit up when Evie cuddled closer to her side, how her attention was focused solely on him and not even bothering to glance at her phone (that sat across from her on the small wooden end table). That was something very new to Harry, being with someone who had more interest in what he was saying than the tiny portable screen. It sent a warm feeling though Harry’s body, that wasn’t caused by the burning wood in his fireplace. He enjoyed Y/N’s company, so much more than he thought he would, the two unsuspecting loners seemingly becoming instant best friends. Harry’s life brought him immense happiness; seeing his fans having the time of their lives at his shows, meeting his idols, and getting to live his dreams, but with all of these extreme highs, came the lows. The lows of not knowing your true friends, not seeing your family for long periods of time, and constantly being photographed. But in this moment, sitting in his living room with his neighbor, drinking wine and arguing over the greatest Christmas cookie, Harry had never felt happier.
tag: @emotionally-imbruised and @theasstour cause I sent them so many snaps about this blurb😂😂

Telling Cap, Natasha And Banner That Loki Is Leading An Army Of Chitauri Which Loki Will Use To Conquer Earth In Return For The Tesseract, Knowing That Loki Is Using Selvig To Build A Portal To Their Realm, But Wondering What Loki Needed Iridium For, Stark Bursts In To Tell Them That Loki Needs It For A Stabilizing Agent To Keep The Portal Open...

But Thinking That Stark And Banner May Be Right, Steve Goes Off To Investigate...
Back In The Lab, The Science Bros. (As The Fanbase Calls Bruce And Tony) Get To Know Each Other A Little Better. While We Discover Where Natalie Portman Is During This Movie And Romanoff Has A Word With Loki That Leads To Exposition About Her Relationship With Barton And Leads To Her Discovering Loki's Plan To Use The Hulk As A Distraction While He Escapes...

After Having Jarvis Scan S.H.I.E.L.D.'S Computers, Tony Asks Fury What Phase 2 Is, Which Leads To Cap Telling Them That Phase 2 Is S.H.I.E.L.D. Using The Tesseract To Make Weapons Like Hydra Did (Which Cap Discovered In A Box That Was In The Underbelly Of The Helicarrier)...
With Banner Wondering Why As Thor And Natasha Enter The Room..
And Because It's Mark Ruffalo And He Just Had To Throw In A Little Bit Of His Activisim Into Bruce Banner By Talking About Weapons Of Mass Destruction...
Fury Explains That It's Because Of The Destroyer Attack In New Mexico As It Showed Not Only That They Are Not Alone In This Universe But Also That They Are Hopelessly Outgunned, And Despite Thor's People Not Being A Threat, The World's Filling Up With People Who Can't Be Matched Or Controlled...
And From There It's Argument To Argument Mainly From Steve And Tony Which Isn't What I Wanted To See From Them In This Movie...
Of All The People Who Should Be Happy To See Steve, I Expected It To Be Tony As After Learning Alot About His Father In The Last Iron Man Movie He Most Likely Would Have A Lot Of Questions About Him To Ask Steve, Like What Was My Father Like Back Then? Was He More Like Me Than I Believed He Was? And As We Saw In One Scene In First Avenger Him And Tony Were Definitely Alike In A Similar Fashion And It Pissed Me Off That We Never Got That But A Fight Over Who's Ego Is Bigger? Tony Or Steve? Instead Which I Would Have Prefered To See In A Sequel Rather Than This...
Eventually, Barton And A Bunch Of Brainwashed S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents On Board A Quinjet Prepare To Land On The Helicarrier But Before They Do, Barton Takes Out A Helicarrier Engine With An Explosive Arrow Which Tells Both Tony And Steve To Shut Up And Suit Up...
After Suiting Up, Tony And Steve Fix The Damage To The Engines While On A Lower Floor, Banner Is Transforming Into The Hulk Despite Natasha Trying To Calm Him Down, And From There It Quickly Becomes A Game Of Temple Run Until Thor Shows Up...
youtube
(Start At 0:45)
youtube
Managing To Escape His Rapidly Falling Cell, Thor Crashes On The Ground While Coulson Says "Screw You For Killing Me, Loki" By Firing The Destroyer Gun At Him...
Meanwhile, Steve Flips The Switch That Fixes The Engines So Tony Can Finish Off What's Left Of Loki's Brainwashed S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents As Loki Gets Away..
Arriving To Get Coulson, Fury Stays With His Friend Until He Dies. Sending Coulson's Body To A Magical Place Called T.A.H.I.T.I., Fury Reunites With Steve And Tony On The Bridge Where He Tells Them That They Were Going To Make An Arsenal With The Tesseract Before About What The Avenger Initiative Was And How Much Coulson Believed In It...
Meanwhile, Thor Goes To Get His Hammer While The Hulk Transforms Back Into Banner (Who Is Completely Naked) Only To Be Confronted By A Janitor (Played By Harry Dean Stanton)..
Back On The Helicarrier, Natasha Manages To Snap Barton Out Of Loki's Control So He Can Tell Nat That Loki Is Making His Move Today While On The Lower Level, Where Loki Was Jailed, Steve And Tony Talk Only For Tony To Realize Where Loki Will Be...
Telling Barton And Romanoff To Suit Up, It Leads To A Montage Of Stark Buffing The Damage Out Of His Suit So He Can Wear It, Thor Grabbing Mijonir So He Can Suit Up And Cap, Hawkeye And Black Widow Going To Steal A Quinjet So They All Can Go Fight Loki...
Heading To Stark Tower, Tony Fires Back At Selvig's Machine Only For The Machine To Fire Back So, Deciding To Take Route 2, Tony Decides To Distract Loki Until His Friends Get Here...
But Tired Of Tony's Talk, Loki Throws Him Out Of A Window Only For The New Mark 7 Suit To Launch, But While Firing A Blast At Loki, A Portal In The Sky Starts To Form...
To Which The Cliche Haters Can Kiss My Ass On!
And Chitauri Start Coming Through To Attack Earth...
Tumblr media
Iron Man Deals With Some Of The Chitauri Coming Through The Portal While Thor Fights Loki At Stark Tower And Quinjet With Steve, Natasha And Barton Deal With More Of The Arriving Chitauri Until They're Shot Down Where Cap's Team Is Forced To Fight Them On The Ground With Thor (After Loki Escapes On One Of The Chitauri Ships)...

In The Aftermath Of The Fight With The Chitauri We See News Reports From All Over The World Including One With Stan Lee...
Stan Lee Cameo!

Believing That Fury Has No Clue What He's Unleashed Onto The World With The Council Believing That The Avengers Are Dangerous But Fury Assures The Council That Not Only Does He Know But Every World Knows What He's Unleashed. Wondering If All Of This Was Just To Make A Damn Statement, Fury Just Says That It Wasn't To Make A Statement But A Promise...

(End At 3:24)
With Bullock Going Up To The Surface, Batman Soon Follows With Croc's Unconscious Body. Bullock Wonders Why Batman Would Stick His Neck Out For Bullock When He's Always Been Such A Pain In His Butt?...
But All Batman Tells Him Is That He Thought He Was Guilty Too As He Leaves....
The Next Day, Bullock Is Cleared Of All Charges As He Tells Criminals To Beware Because He's Back On The Street And Ready To Kick Butt...
And That's Vendetta And It's Okay..,
The Episode Has A Great Story, The Characters Are Well Written And Killer Croc Is An Interesting Villain, It's Just That It's Not One Of My Favorite Episodes, But Despite That I Would Say See It...
