2017-2020: bujo spreads // took out my old journals today and it was fun to go through the various lives I lived over these four years.
one of these journals was a birthday gift from a person whom I loved and cherished dearly. Seeing their note made me feel extremely sad but as that person would say, it do be like that sometimes.

Sharing my story and why I'm passionate about bullet journaling.
It was the year 2020 when the pandemic hit. While other people found love in making Dalgona coffee and growing plants, I discovered and became enthusiastic about bullet journaling after I saw a pen collection post on Facebook. I followed the profile and fell down the rabbit hole of stationery and journaling (and planning, too!).
I didn't know it was a thing that's been going on for years. I wrote diaries when I was a child up to my teenage years but have always stopped. The longest time I journaled was a year until the diary was stolen. At other times, I eventually got lazy and missed writing diary entries until I stopped altogether.
Discovering bullet journaling changed how I journal and has helped me constantly write since 2020. Sure there were backlogs, which even lasted for 2-3 months but I always keep coming back. I found myself passionate about what I do. The added creativity challenge makes it delightful to me.
One main reason why I pursued this hobby is because I was really desperate to find a way to lessen my screen time. Illustrating and decorating helps me stay away from gadgets and focus on things that matter more.
Today, I run a Facebook page and TikTok account where I share my journal spreads. (Not just bujo but creative diary as well!) You may also join my Facebook group if you need help from fellow journaling enthusiasts. I'm hoping to see you there!

on the special occasion of finally completing 3 years here is a lil thank you post. I started this blog back in Jan 2020 at the same time I started bujoing and decided to share my progress here as I was very inspired by the whole community and I am still touched by how welcoming and sweet everyone was to me. I have met some [hopefully] lifelong friends, had some of the best interactions and got to know the kindest people here.
Tumblr always felt like a home to me, there’s a strange comfort here, and even after 3 years the community hasn't changed much. Of course, I miss some of my beloved that aren't super active lately but just going to their accounts and revisiting the memories feels so intimate. I have sure made great memories here so just a little thank you to everyone who has ever interacted or sent me kind words with or without anon, everyone who has sent me moon pictures saying “it reminds me of you” have checked on me during exam season or left encouraging tags on reblogs, younger tumblrinas who said they want to journal like me, i truly love all of you! My askbox is always open [now with anons shjsjs] for you
if I could I'd write each of you handwritten letters and teleport there to meet even once but for now, just know that I love and adore you <3

bringing the bullet journal back
The first time I started bullet journaling was in 2020. I was severely depressed and suicidal and started bullet journaling at the suggestion of my therapist. I had friends who were going through similar stuff at the time so it was an activity we did together (over Zoom, usually, because pandemic). I kept doing it through the lockdown and kind of stopped around the end of 2021/beginning of 2022. I don't know exactly why I stopped but I definitely have a few theories. One, being that ironically, I had too much stuff to do to spend time bullet journaling. Which makes sense- all I was doing during the pandemic was online school, some internships, and being depressed. Once it was "over" (no, its not really over; covid is still very much a thing), I started going back to hobbies, social stuff, etc. But its still kind of ironic that getting more thing to do made me not have time to do the thing that would help me plan said things to do. I think there's an explanation though. I was doing too much. I was so far down the aesthetic bujo side of social media that I was doing way more than I needed to. I didn't need 3 pages of fancy artsy spreads just for the aesthetic. Don't get me wrong, if that's your thing and it brings you joy, more power to you. Personally, I was so stressed about making the perfect spread, I would rather have not had a spread than have an imperfect spread. So, what's new? Well, first off, I tried using Notion. Hell, I still use Notion. And I freaking love it. But there was still a gap. Notion is great for planning, organizing all of that. I use it for all of that, too. But I realized, there was some bit of that artsy bullet journal spread that I was still missing out on. And so, I'm bringing the bullet journal back. With a LOT of changes. First off, screw all the pretty pages from Pinterest, Instagram, etc. No fancy notebook either- just an unruled composition book. I want to keep this as simple (or complicated) as I want. I'm getting rid of all the trackers that I never used. It's just going to be a giant, messy, chaotic to-do list, with some aspects of the bullet journal still in it. I'm keeping my monthly spread and possibly adding a finance tracker because I'm way more in charge of my own finances now. The rest of it, however, is going to be raw, unstructured chaos. I want to be able to scribble down ideas that came to me at 3AM without having to find 30 brush pens and a pack of supertips, y'know. Raw, unstructured chaos. And hell, if I want to be artistic at some point, no one is stopping me from doing that either.
Let's hope it goes better this time (and that I rip out less pages from that notebook).

My Bullet Journal
Since I was a kid I always liked planners and journals, I had several and I was obsessed with them.
Years passed and I ended up putting aside my hobby until in 2016 I got a calendar from my ex-boss and started learning more about organization and bullet journaling through Pinterest.
BUJO has been a rage since 2016 and I had my first BUJO in 2017.
Today I'm going to talk a little about my BUJO trajectory and show some of my layouts.
When I started BUJO in 2017 I made several trackers and just put tasks, I was doing it that way until September 2020 where I started to do in addition to tasks a little diary in topic.
Tumblr media
Since then I went through several types of Planners, I started using just one notebook, then I went to A6 Traveler's Notebook, then to the Ring Planners always in B6 size.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I followed this way until 2021 when I started my Pocket Rings and followed the Kim'sPaperPlan organization method (currently she deleted the YT videos). At first I was the one who did my own inserts, but when I got my first Moterm Pocket Rings I started to buy Peanuts Planner Co Inserts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soon got tired of the ring system and in May 2022 I decided to go back to the A6 TN and although I loved the size the TN I had bought was too small and didn't fit everything I needed.
Tumblr media
Than I decided that I would start a BUJO on an A6 Stalogy and that it would stay on the new big A6 TN that I bought.
Tumblr media
Nowadays my BUJO is a mixture of journal and planner. I do my weekly planning and daily I do the daily journal. This way has been much better and more enjoyable for me.
Tumblr media
If anyone is interested in knowing more about BUJO and has any questions about my planners, they can ask me or go to my instagram @aislinravynne.

Omg 300+ bracelets!! That's awesome - good luck! I made about 50 for my first show and am planning to do some for my various concerts next year. I would definitely enjoy seeing bracelet photos if you want to share (no pressure if you don't!). And it's fun hearing about the bujo stuff! I'm bujo adjacent - both my best friends do bujo and I love seeing their spreads, but I've never done it myself. What types of inspiration do you use for your bujo and embroidery?
I'm kind of chaotic with crafting like I start a lot of stuff but only finish a few things haha. I'm also coming off of being in grad school for a few years where I didn't craft at all so I'm trying to get back into it. I mainly collage and make bracelets for shows lately and I'm trying to practice painting too. In the past I knit for a few years but idk if it's for me.
i'm thinking of making bracelets for holly & olivia! i'm also going to fall out boy in march, but i don't think i'll be making bracelets for it (i also don't know their stuff very well — like, at all, but a friend wanted to go and i'm always down for concerts + to learn music before i go)!! and then obviously, i've got eras!!! i don't have any recent photos of bracelets, but here and here are some i've posted before !!
i got into bujo because one of my friends was like "oh i'm thinking of starting a bullet journal" and then i got super super super into it for like three years, and then quit in 2020 because well, you know. and then migrated to notion, but have been toying with the idea of returning to bullet journaling/junk journaling/something that combines the two! i really love doing either specific themes with my bullet journal (i.e. i did some bookish themed spreads back in 2019, like red, white & royal blue the week i met casey mcquiston in portland, or musical themed ones — i definitely had an anastasia spread, a waitress spread, etc. depending on what i was currently into / what events were going on in my life at that moment!, definitely a few taylor spreads too!). i also started doing more scrapbook-y styled bullet journal/junk journaling, so saving receipts, etc!! i can dig an old bujo out and post photos for you if you're interested!! and with embroidery, i tend to get kits from etsy! usually something floral, but at some point i want to work on more lettering-y things!! i did cross stitch as a kid, and all the embroidery stuff is self-taught!
a lot of my crafty stuff is a result of being done with grad school (graduated in 2019) and then being in a terrible work environment for a year after → when we started quarantining i realized i didn't really have ... hobbies! i did not know what to do with myself except for read and work and then after a while i realized that was not sustainable and i had to do something else! grad school really sucked a lot out of me, and i think it does the same for a lot of people, unfortunately. i hope you're able to get back into crafting more soon 🤍
i used to paint a lot when i was younger, but haven't in years but i've been thinking of experimenting with painting again — i also really want to go to a local ceramic painting place soon (once i'm no longer suffering from the plague), i used to go to one near school but haven't gone in ages! it's really cool that you used to knit; i've always wanted to learn how to knit! how did you get into knitting + collaging? 🤍

 10/1/23 - 2º PARTE
Tumblr media
