What does Venus de Milo have to do with Budweiser?
Budweiser has employ some pretty creative team for their commercials, each fitting to event and targeted audience. Remember the NFL Budweiser Clydesdales? Or how about the 2018 FIFA World Cup?
The latest campaign is a natural extension to last year’s ME3 done by Serviceplan Beijing’s ‘Truly Mystical’.
You can’t miss the physiological use of purple and pink though out the ad. Review as XZ walks through an art gallery then transitions into a mystical universe with floating spheres. Purple has a calming effect on the mind and body. It is commonly associated with mysticism, passion, and sense of the unknown. As with all colors, the meaning of purple fluctuates with its shade. Lighter shades for romantic energies, likely due to their red underpinnings. As such, they also convey dreamlike feelings of nostalgia.
So why on earth is XZ standing next to Venus de Milo here? And why is an Ancient Greek statue wearing a modern day fanny pack?

Venus symbolizes love, beauty, passion and pleasure - a befitting slogan that XZ speaks often:
Brewed with 100% love, courage and dream.
Given an opportunity to collaborate on designs for a product, am I going to include meaningful aspects to it? You betcha, I will.
As far as the fanny pack? I’m still scratching my head on this one. 💚

I can’t help but be amazed at Xiao Zhan’s collaboration with Budweiser. Not only is he their spokesperson, he also designed the new packaging and in case you didn’t notice it, the name of the product is Budweiser MEX and in the product packaging you can see ME XZ

I am sitting here watching how budweiser is yet another company that has done lgbt pride ads and campaigns. they even collaborated extensively with london pride. had those glasses with various flags explaining what each means. this is the third consecutive brand xz has signed with fully out there supporting us queers. it does some things to me :')
Budweiser has even done Pride-related ads in China in the past. GG has been with them for a while.
I’m always happy to see GG and DD associate with brands that support LGBTQ. I think it’s highly likely that they are happier with queer-friendly brands. I can’t imagine they enjoy being associated with brands that are homophobic, or treat their CP fans like garbage.
But we can’t really read too much into it. The fact is, most large international brands that target a younger demographic are going to be LGBTQ-friendly. It’s what that demographic demands of them.
If we wanted to jump into the clown car, we could say that GG and DD would be wisest to seek out queer-friendly brands so that if they’re ever outed, intentionally or otherwise, their endorsements aren’t at as much of a risk as they might otherwise be.
