Arendelle Castle Rooms: Part 6 | Analysis
Frozen Fever rooms covered in part 5. So now we move to Olaf's Frozen Adventure. We begin with Kristoff's barn, then the council chambers and next, Elsa and Anna's parents room.
1. Kristoff's barn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: Kristoff making stew in 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' | End of 'Frozen')
It's really lovely to see Kristoff having his own barn in his future wife's or at this stage, current girlfriend's home. It's really sweet and welcoming bearing in mind it's been only 5 months since the events of Frozen. And this barn is on the left side of the castle because as Kristoff leaves the barn, you can see the view of the entrance of the main castle building and the inside right hand corner as seen above.
And now we can finally move onto the rooms featured in Frozen 2.
2. The council chambers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: Concept art | Hans lies to the council about Anna's death in 'Frozen' | "Into the unknown" in 'Frozen 2' | "I am with you" on YouTube | End of "Into the unknown" in 'Frozen 2')
The room where council meetings and the Queen's formal parties take place. The room where Hans lied to the Duke of Wellington and the others about Anna dying in his arms.
In Frozen 2 we see the return of the room when Elsa sings "Into the unknown". However there are major furniture changes to it, most being barely any. Also new paintings of the new family and of her old family have been hung up in the room.
In a song on YouTube, there's a song released 3, years called "I am with you" where Olaf writes to Elsa showing us how much he misses her. And when Olaf sends his letter to gale to give to Elsa he steps on the balcony - But! - There is an error here because the balcony is of the room below, not of the conference room. The concept art of the conference room above, shows what the balcony of the room looks like. We can also see the two paintings featured on Frozen 2 behind Olaf, of the room he's in.
At the end of the song when Elsa unleashes the crystals of the four elemental spirits waking them up (along with the rest of Arendelle lol), Anna wakes up and looks out to witness these crystals in the air. But there seems to be a continuity error somewhere. The background behind Anna, brightened up, is of the bedroom they were in but the balcony doesn't match as I analyse is below. Instead the balcony looks more like a combination of the one in the conference room and their parents room; the structure/ length and the panels of the window of the balcony matches their parents room and and the pillars on the side of it match that of the conference room. Animators probably wanted to show Anna looking out from their parents bedroom window because she was sleeping in that room but they probably forgot the pillars in front of the balcony lol.
So swap Olaf's and Anna's balcony and rooms and they'll match up.
Then we have the balcony Elsa in on, in "Into the unknown" (due to the image limit I can't show you in this post unfortunately - see part 9/ the final part for full construction of it all). The balcony windows look different and the pillars aren't identical but in general it's very close. So I believe that the design of that balcony is a continuity error and that it's actually the same balcony we first see Elsa on in the second (full length) movie. There's a particular painting behind them in both balcony scenes that match up. That painting and the two new paintings of the family are hung up in the council chambers room. Other evidence that shows the two balconies are the same room is that on Elsa's right side when standing on the balcony, you can see the cliffs of Arendelle.
I have located where the council chambers room is in the castle, and it's on the east side of the castle.
3. Elsa and Anna's parents room
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ref: "Some things never change" in 'Frozen 2' | Elsa and Anna in their parents room in 'Frozen 2' | End of 'Frozen')
About this room, we know that Elsa and Anna's room have one triangular window and that their room structures are the same as each other's. Yet this room has the same door pattern and wallpaper pattern, even the bed heading pattern as Elsa's. Yet the location of this is the east side of the castle and the windows are rectangular. So I've come to the conclusion that this is their parents room but Elsa moved to their parents room. This is the first time we see Agnarr and Iduna's bedroom so we don't know if the patterns of their room were always the same as Elsa's. At the beginning of Frozen 2, we see Elsa on the balcony and the room seems to be the same given the door so we can say this balcony with the triangular roof goes with their parents room. The windows also match up. And seeing close-ups of the front of the castle, the balcony structure is exactly the same as the one in the circled image the windows also match up too. That would mean that their parents room is directly below Anna's room. However, the back of the castle is almost identical to the front. It could be that the parents room is at the back but I don't think so because one, as king and Queen they wouldn't want a back view of Arendelle but rather the front where they can their people too, two because when Elsa was born her room was made below theirs and when Anna came along she was in that room too and finally, because when Elsa looks out in "Somethings never change", she sees the bridge between her castle and the kingdom which is at the front of the castle.
In a book, it confirms that Elsa was living in her parents room instead of her own one. In 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure (OFA)' , it doesn't show either one of the sisters rooms, except for Anna's but very briefly and with continuity issues as explained in part 1 of these breakdowns. In 'Frozen Fever', which despite releasing before 'OFA', is canon to be set a year after 'Frozen', we do see Anna's room in a better view. In the Short, we learn that Anna still sleeps in her room, and at the end of the short we see Elsa does too as Anna feeds her a cold remedy. But in 'Frozen 2', Elsa is in her parents room so it's probably that after Anna's birthday she felt something was missing, and missed her parents more and moved to her parents room. Though I don't think she would have moved her bed or changed the wallpaper or the door but I think that it was just to make it clear to us, the viewers that she's in that room now.
Now for the other rooms in part 7.

Tagging especially @changelingsandothernonsense for the Sad Wars which have produced amazing content as of lately from me, for being writing exercises hehe. Not to brag, I'm just really fond of the work! And of course the amazing @paraparadigm, @thequeenofthewinter, @snippetsrus, @wildhexe, @nuwanders, @oblivions-dawn, @miraakulous-cloud-district, @throughtrialbyfire, @expended-sleeper, @inquisition-dragonborn @archangelsunited, @dirty-bosmer, @viss-and-pinegar, @ladytanithia, @polypolymorph, @gilgamish, @tallmatcha, @rainpebble3, @late-nite-scholar, @greyborn2, @saltymaplesyrup, @orfeoarte, and YOU. Because yes. You are tagged. Tag me back if you have stuff to share! I love to see it.
Below I have a few samples from some WIPs! I'll start with World, as I'm restructuring chapter 31 <3
This selection is long, too! 1,050 words, below the cut!
1) The World on Our Shoulders, Chapter 31 Athis's POV as he goes through Northwatch Keep to save Thorald. 219 words.
Still, there was something unsettling about how unnaturally quiet this part of the keep was. The hairs on the back of Athis’s neck stood up, some instinct he couldn’t place screaming of danger. Something was wrong. He’d felt this way once, years ago, before a bear charged out of the woods that time his hip had been shattered. He’d almost died, then, if it hadn’t been for Farkas and that priest out of Falkreath. Odd, that, as it was a priest of Arkay. The irony wasn’t lost on him. Now, however, was not the time to lose focus.
Athis pressed against the wall that lead out of the twisting passageways into a room that looked, from what he could tell, like some kind of torture chamber. Only, the air rippled with some kind of magic that felt like static on his skin the closer he crept. He remembered how it felt when Nyenna used certain spells nearby; this one didn’t feel like anything he could recall, and that didn’t bode well. None of it did, if he was being honest. He got the sudden notion that perhaps it wasn’t worth all the trouble — that Thorald might already be dead. But no. If there was the slightest chance that he was still alive, Athis couldn’t leave him here. He wouldn’t.
2) Storms Like This A secret WIP I'll be editing and finishing soon for a friend. 266 words.
He’d thought back to one of his favorite memories of her, besides their wedding. Before they’d decided to adopt and start a family, they were living comfortably in Proudspire Manor in Solitude. He’d been overwhelmed at first by the city he’d only ever passed through before. Living in it meant becoming entangled in the political nonsense, which Sigyn seemed to take in stride. She’d come home, fancy clothes thoroughly drenched from the rain after being gone a particularly long time on what was supposed to be a local errand, and deposited an old hip bone into a chest by the door. Unnerving, sure, but not too atypical for her.
She took him by the hand and dragged him out into the storm, onto their back porch, all while Jordis silently judged them both from her perch at the kitchen table. Sigyn had said nothing, only smiled as he’d exclaimed from the cold downpour the further she led him outside, but then, even over the thunder, he’d heard it—the Bard’s College, practicing for the Burning of King Olaf, bright and clear, almost enhanced by the storm, music reverberating through the very stones of the building next door. They danced together, on their porch, regardless of the weather. It was if, for a moment, the entire world consisted of only them. She’d laughed even as their sodden hair clung to their faces, and as water ran freely into their eyes. [He] knew then, despite all of her chaos, he would follow her absolutely anywhere for as long as he lived.
Storms like this always reminded him of her.
3) Fragment - part of The Bitter, Bitter End (Unpublished as of yet.) Featuring Nevena Ules as the POV and Orvas Dren. (Yeah. Ew.) 209 words.
Orvas was leaning over the stone parapets, looking down into the courtyard where regular people milled around on business relating to Vedam’s gathering. The moons shone overhead and, besides the noise of the crowds and bards inside, all was silent. She cleared her throat, and Orvas turned to her. He smirked—the same sarcastic look he’d won her heart with when they were younger and under far less pressure—and closed the distance between them.
His eyes, blood red in this light, held storms. She knew what had been worrying him, but she was trying hard to ignore that part, until it was safe to talk about it. Vedam’s overreaching included parlaying with the Empire and solidifying trade between Morrowind and other provinces. Only, there would be an embargo if the Blight situation got worse—which it already was, by the day. And if all of that work was so new, the newfound strength of House Dren would be the first to collapse. Orvas had said as much, and had been bringing it up in their conversations more often as of late, because Vedam wouldn’t see reason. He thought he could see a solution, but even thought of it scared her.
He wanted to ally the Camonna Tong with the Sixth House.
4) Fragment - part of It's Always Darkest Before the Dawn (Unpublished as of yet.) This one is is Danger!Bean Varlais's POV. 353 words.
Varlais never felt like he belonged anywhere in particular, to be fair. His parents had been elevated slightly after a few turns of events when they’d moved with Ondolemar’s family to Skyrim. That was, technically, his doing, all those years ago, but they were still othered by most Altmer of any rank, Thalmor or not. It was complex, of course, and he didn’t have the energy to parse it all. He’d leave that to Ondolemar, who seemed like he could hold every political detail in his head, as if his mind was some kind of tome.
All he knew was it had to do with the Ayleid ancestry that refused to fade into the background for his family, no matter how many generations. Aerissa, at least, never looked down at him for the blue eyes, thank Auri-El, but she was back in Alinor now, doing clerical work for the Thalmor. And, of course, he was stuck here. But at least, if he was here, he could try and save her from them. No matter how badly he missed her, he’d keep fighting. Before she became a thrall, well, she’d always stuck by him. He looked down at his ring, the gold band glimmering with a faint enchantment, the metal worn and scratched. Somehow, likely by Mara’s direct intervention, he’d not lost the thing, nor had it torn through his skin and bone in some horrifying way. He touched the edge of his left ear where he’d lost an earring that way, and was grateful at least in that moment, his magic worked to stanch the bleeding.
As of late, he’d been feeling even more unmoored than usual, despite Ondolemar’s best efforts—the man was seventeen different kinds of distracted, after all. They were and always had been close as brothers, but with so much changing and hanging in the balance, Ondolemar had to focus on the plan. They had a goal, after all, as impossible as it all seemed. The Civil War and the Dragons were mucking up pretty much everything. Varlais also tended to make himself a problem, though never intentionally. Not really.

It had started with a rivalry. No, before that, it had started with a meeting. A simple tea party on an innocuous Thursday afternoon, when she’d been introduced to the Count’s son and distant cousin-turned-adopted daughter. They’d all gotten on like that infamous and ill-suited metaphor, and then they hadn’t seen each other for months and what was she to make of it? When she finally arrived at Prufrock and suddenly they weren’t friends at all.
But she hadn’t misremembered that first meeting. She didn’t misremember any of the subsequent ones, either.
Beatrice had friends, and money, and talent, but most importantly, she had the spotlight, and she couldn’t bear to share even a little of it with some girl a year younger than her from no particular family or relevance. But Esmé had worked. She’d already had an in with Olaf, and so she worked tirelessly to create her own little group of admirers, to build herself an immaculate reputation, to hide her own intellect because they had already assumed it was all but non-existent. That was the real way in, in the end. That was the way to convince everyone that she wasn’t a threat—that group of pretentious children, all quoting books she’d never be bothered to read. They all thought that reading was the same thing as intelligence, and who was she to correct them? So she laughed, and didn’t have to pretend to understand the literary references they made, but did have to feign ignorance when they used those infuriating quotes and allusions as a paper-thin veil to insult her right in front of her face. But as long as she wasn’t a threat, they let their guard down around her. Enough that she found out about the tattoo they all had on their ankles, enough that she identified the triad of initials that wormed its way into every conversation, enough that she could begin to formulate a plan.
Beatrice was never truly convinced, though. And so, when she showed up to their headquarters after bluffing her way through the recruitment process, Beatrice was the only one who didn’t try to fight it. Others argued that she wasn’t clever enough, but they’d been too well-trained to do so within earshot of anyone important. And so, she stayed. And so, the rivalry grew.
Two actresses with accents, both vying for attention and recognition. Both with dedicated admirers, both with a passion for theatrics even when they weren’t treading the boards. It wasn’t hard to see how rival could easily turn to friend. And, as they got older, just how naturally friend morphed into something else. Beatrice wasn’t her first, and she was almost certain she wasn’t Beatrice’s, but even so… they were never public. Never quite private, either. Attending an event at the same time but with different men on their arms, disappearing at staggered intervals but reappearing together after fixing their hair and makeup as best they could under the circumstances. Some people knew, some people didn’t. Most pretended they had no idea, because really, who would possibly accuse Beatrice Baudelaire of stooping so low?
They’d had fights, of course. Ones so vicious that Beatrice’s lions would flinch away, preferring to press themselves as far away from them as possible. They’d spit cruel, angry words—Beatrice always staying perfectly calm while Esmé screamed and threw things and lived up to exactly the kind of person everyone expected her to be. As she got older, she didn’t stop getting angry like that, but she did stop doing it by accident. She always used to think that Beatrice’s way was best, but there was certainly something to being the unpredictable one, the one people felt the need to tiptoe around, just in case they set her off.
Then she got married. Esmé attended the wedding, and Beatrice didn’t look at her once. That night, she went home with someone else, made sure she was seen doing it. She was seen doing a lot of things. Then Beatrice had a baby, and Esmé wasn’t seen interacting with her, not once. No reporter saw her hold her unofficial niece, cooing at her with an audience of the only person that mattered. No one saw their beloved Beatrice Baudelaire sneaking around, in dressing rooms and cast parties and a thousand others places she had every right to be. Even though she had other reasons for being there.
Things were still different, though. And when she had a son, Esmé wasn’t allowed to meet him. Later, after she’d broken that rule, on the rare occasion she allowed herself to think about it, she knew it was because she’d have seen too much of his father in him. Would have been the only one to say what other people must have been thinking. And so she was no longer an aunt, but she was most certainly a mistress.
Until one unusually warm autumn day, when Beatrice broke every rule and came to see her in her office. It had just been redecorated. After Beatrice left, she’d made the call to redecorate it again. Her family had been outside, but that hadn’t stopped her from pressing Esmé up against the shelf full of books she hadn’t read, from doing exactly what they always did whenever they were alone together. And then she’d asked for a favour.
It’s what they always did; sex first, difficult conversation after, using the chaos of trying to find their clothes and straighten their hair to get the other to slip up and agree. Except this time Esme didn’t. Not in the way that they always did—lying and saying they wouldn’t before conceding, tallying up another favour owed or repaid. No. This time, Esmé wasn’t being playful or pedantic. She was horrified. She remembered it so clearly, the memory coming to her unbidden for the rest of her life, over and over and over again. Perhaps, if she’d responded differently, so many people wouldn’t have died.
But her former distaste for death was what had led her to make that choice in the first place, and she knew she couldn’t have done any differently. Not for anything, or anyone. Not even for Beatrice.
So when Beatrice invited her to the opera, casually, as she was reapplying her lipstick, Esme had said no. But she hadn’t just said no. Perhaps it would have ended differently, if she’d been casual, or non-committal, or played Beatrice’s game like she usually did. But she’d been caught off guard—when she thought back on it, she assumed that had been rather the point. And she’d done what nobody ever did. She’d said no to Beatrice, and she’d meant it. She’d warned Olaf, and he hadn’t believed her. And later that month, when Beatrice had attended her garden party, she’d thought perhaps the matter was settled. Until afterwards. When the rumours began to spread about her loyalties lying elsewhere, when her lifelong friends refused to take her calls.
She was down a sugar bowl, down a reputation, down a friend and lover and, most importantly, down an organisation. She was down, and Beatrice was decidedly up. One of them In, the other Out. Just like it had been at the start, from that first day at Prufrock Prep. She’d had no choice but to prove the rumours true, or risk being alone in the City with no protection—still, she had tried to stop the opera. But Beatrice had new help, now, people to manipulate that wouldn’t question her like Esmé had, wouldn’t dare. And then there’d been a fire, which she’d had to read about in the paper the next morning, never learning who had set it, or why, or how. Even though she could guess. Had guessed. Had never been proved right, but was never proven wrong, either. And the rivalry had ended exactly the way it had begun.
Like a house on fire.

Randomly thinking about Disney* non-villain characters who the audience is meant to think are dead, even if not for very long vs. Disney non-villain characters who actually do die in their canon (most of them are brought back to life via magic or technology).
*I am only counting Disney animated canon. No Pixar, Marvel, etc.
Appear to have died, but didn’t:
Trusty (Lady and the Tramp 1955)
Baloo (The Jungle Book 1967)
Robin Hood (Robin Hood 1973)
Chief (The Fox and the Hound 1981)
Basil (The Great Mouse Detective 1986)
Oliver (Oliver and Company 1988)
Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996)
Hercules (Hercules 1997)
Actually died:
Pinocchio (Pinocchio 1940) - revived by the Blue Fairy
Bambi’s Mom (Bambi 1942) - remains dead
Willie the Whale (Make Mine Music 1946) - remains dead but goes to heaven
Johnny Appleseed (Melody Time 1948) - dies of old age, goes to heaven
Tinkerbell (Peter Pan 1953, Return to Never Land 2002) - revived by belief: twice!
Gurgi (The Black Cauldron 1985) - revived by the Three Witches
Beast (Beauty and the Beast 1991) - revived by the curse being broken
Mufasa (The Lion King 1994) - remains dead
Kokoum (Pocahontas 1995) - remains dead
Megara (Hercules 1997)  - revived by Hercules returning her soul to her body
General Li (Mulan 1998) - remains dead
Kerchak (Tarzan 1999) - remains dead
Spring Sprite (Fantasia 2000 1999) - comes back to life as is natural for the earth to do
Sitka (Brother Bear 2003) - physically remains dead, but his spirit lives on as an eagle
Karl (Meet the Robinsons 2007) - is stabbed to death in the alternate future, but is revived by fixing the timeline
Ray (The Princess and the Frog 2009) - remains dead
Eugene Fitzherbert/Flynn Rider (Tangled 2010) - revived by Rapunzel
Ragnar (Frozen 2013) - remains dead
Iduna (Frozen 2013) - remains dead
Anna (Frozen 2013) - revived by her own act of true love
Tadashi (Big Hero 6 2014) - remains dead
Baymax (Big Hero 6 2014) - revived by Hiro building him a new body
Grandma Tala (Moana 2016) - remains dead
Elsa (Frozen II 2019) - revived by the curse being released on the enchanted forest
Olaf (Frozen II 2019) - revived by Elsa
Chief Benja (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Chief Virana (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Sisu (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Raya (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Boun (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Tong (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Noi (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Namaari (Raya and the Last Dragon 2021) - revived by the reassembly of the dragon gem
Duffle (Strange World 2022) - remains dead
Special Cases
Pedro (Saludos Amigos 1942) - It’s unclear whether him going down was meant to be death, but he shows up again with his letter
Ichabod Crane (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad 1949) - The epilogue of the story claims that some say he died, and some say he lived
Lucky (101 Dalmatians 1961) - Was he dead or dying before Roger rubbed some life into him? It’s unclear.
Wilbur Robinson (Meet the Robinsons 2007) - Pops out of existence when the alternate future washes over the current future. Is never being born the same as dying?
Giant turtle-creature (Strange World 2022) - There is a moment where perhaps the audience might think the Clades and crew of the Venture have failed at their mission, but I don’t know, I wasn’t fooled for a second, were you?
I acknowledge that I might have missed someone or a movie or so (there was actually a lot more death than I remembered!), but this is a pretty good list. And hey! I may have mentioned some characters you either don’t know or didn’t remember dying! Oh, and I deliberately left out Snow White, because the narration makes it clear that she’s not dead, she’s just in a death-like sleep.

Good morning
It feels so strange to type that at five to nine pm
I am exhausted so sleep is a top priority tonight
Will probably be passed out within an hour if we're being honest
Anyway look at these cute things (TUMBLR DONT SEND ME OUT THIS TIME)
Tumblr media
It's funny because I picked up a lamp and just held it in place for the right lighting
Anyway I think they're cute (if a teeny bit dying bc age)
Also got an old Olaf build a Bear (came out after frozen two was massive) and an olaf with a candy cane nose (olaf's frozen adventure) and I'll stop now
I'm just excited lol
Question time
What do you think are movies that everyone (let's say just our generation for the sake of narrowing it down) have to have seen?
Have a lovely day xx
why is tumblr such a hater istg
hi :D
ofc ofc
I love them omg
you really like Olaf. I read thru the gc just before (‘read’ is generous. I skimmed the messages and listened to ur voice note. You’ve got a nice voice btw)
I think at this point everyone’s seen at least one Marvel movie/show. There’s too many of them around to be completely avoided forever.
Sweet dreams xx

Editor's Note: Berlin is bracing for severe recession and economic turbulence as Russia cuts its gas supplies, writes Constanze Stelzenmüller. This article originally appeared in the Financial Times.
In a strong bid for least surprising prediction of the year, Germany’s Commerzbank said last week that Russian cuts in natural gas supplies could trigger “a severe recession” and possibly even an economic crisis like “the one that occurred after the financial crisis in 2009.” Gas rationing would “probably be inevitable.”
Well . . . yes. Courtesy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, most Germans have just learnt from the evening news what a gas turbine looks like: sort of like a rocket engine, and a lot larger (and heavier) than German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Germany’s national turbine drama began months ago when Gazprom, the Russian state-controlled operator of its main gas supply line, Nord Stream 1, sent the Siemens-made piece of machinery to Canada for maintenance. Ottawa refused to send it back, citing Ukraine sanctions; in response, Gazprom suspended all deliveries to Germany. Berlin had to beg the Canadians for the turbine’s return, so as not to give the Kremlin excuses for keeping the gas tap turned off.
When the behemoth landed in Germany, Gazprom first sent the gas supply back up to 40 percent, and then throttled it back down to a fifth of the pipeline’s capacity; gas prices jumped 20 percent. The company says the missing turbine is to blame. But it refuses to take it back without “guarantees,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, alleging that otherwise the turbine could be placed under sanctions or turned off remotely. German industry and policymakers say the former assertion is untrue and the latter groundless.
Chancellor Scholz gave a snap televised press conference in front of the colossal piece of kit, still awaiting its onward journey in a factory hall. It was, he said, in perfect working order and ready to travel; Gazprom’s (and the Kremlin’s) cynical feints were just a “bluff.”
But Putin, of course, is not bluffing. His message to Berlin is simple: turn on Nord Stream 2, or your economy gets it.
To its credit, the “traffic light” (Social Democrat-Green-liberal) government has been laboring to wean Germany off Russian fossil fuels for months. Coal imports have been stopped. Oil imports are scheduled to end by December. But decoupling from gas, Berlin says, will take until the end of 2024 — chiefly because key German industries (chemicals, paper, glass) depend on it, and because most private households heat with it.
Some companies have been nimble enough to adapt: For example, SKW in Saxony Anhalt, a producer of fertilizer that was being priced out of the market, switched to manufacturing a water-urea mix that is much in demand to reduce diesel engine pollution. Mayors are announcing that they will turn off building lights at night, and stop heating public pools. The government is promising energy allowances to companies hit particularly hard by rising gas prices.
The coalition might even give up its refusal to extend the life of Germany’s last three nuclear plants. (In which case I will have been wrong in my previous column.) By way of bait, the opposition has dangled a speed limit — and this despite the fact that Germans consider tearing up and down the Autobahn at 200km per hour as a sacred and inalienable birthright, comparable only to Americans’ Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Still, lowering consumption, switching products, and government handouts will not stop insolvencies, offshoring, and loss of jobs — or gas rationing. And so Germans are bracing themselves for a possible recession, with continuing inflation, a marked drop in consumer spending power and a darkening business climate.
The latest polls still show strong support for Ukraine, and for decoupling from Russian fossil fuels; but it is diminished, and shows a clear east-west divide. Eastern mayors and state legislators have warned of “massive social tensions.” The minister president of Saxony wants the war in Ukraine to be “frozen,” his Bavarian counterpart calls for “thinking of our own people.” The frictions between the three government coalition partners are beginning to show.
A bizarrely self-congratulatory Russian propaganda video that recently went viral said: “Winter is Coming [Time to Move to Russia].” But conceding to the Kremlin by pushing Ukraine towards an armistice and putting Nord Stream 2 into operation would be political suicide. Putin is waging war not just against Ukraine, but against the West. And Germany is the fulcrum where he must apply maximum force to break up Europe and the trans-Atlantic alliance.
Hard times lie ahead. So be it.

Russia-Made Missile Hits Poland
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Nov. 16, 2022.--When a Russian-made missile strayed into Polish territory Nov. 15, it threw the U.S. and NATO for a loop, with Ukraine immediately blaming Russia.  Because NATO has Article 5, guaranteeing mutual defense from the alliance to any members state, an uproar was created at the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia.  Heads-of-State and foreign ministers immediately blamed Russia when the facts were not yet known.  Today, there’s a better picture of where the missile came from but not before categorical denials by Ukraine.  Ukraine uses the Russian-built S-300 missile defense system where incoming missiles are targeted by the missile defense system.  Poland said it was “very likely” that a stray S-300 missile shot by Ukraine landed inside the Polish border killing two Polish citizens.  Ukraine’s 44-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky denied that Ukraine’s had anything to do with the incident.
U.S., EU and NATO officials need to apply pressure on Kiev to go to the peace table to end the Ukraine War.  Zelensky set unrealistic conditions for ending the war, including having all Russian troops removed from Ukraine’s sovereign territory, including the Crimean Peninsula.  When it came to yesterday’s missile strike inside Poland, Kiev jumped the gun.  “Most likely, this was a unfortunate accident,” said Polish President Andrej Duda today.  Duda thinks, with the best intel available, a Ukrainian missile defense projectile strayed from its target and landed in Poland.  Calling a stray Ukrainian missile a Russian “conspiracy theory,” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called the Russian denials preposterous.  “No on should buy Russian propaganda or amplify its messages,” Kuleba tweeted.  “This lesson should have been learnt since the downing of MH17,” Kuleba said.
Ukraine demanded that NATO call an emergency meeting at the G20 in Bali, including President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish Prime Minster Pedro Sanchez, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and others to deal with looked like an escalation of the war to a NATO country.  But instead of waiting patiently until the facts were known everyone rushed to judgment.  “Russia bears responsibility for what happened in Poland yesterday, because this is a direct result of the ongoing war and wave of attack from Russia against Ukraine yesterday,” said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.  Stoltenberg’s been adamant that Ukraine would not fast-track on NATO membership, knowing that it would create a wider conflict, maybe WW III.  Stoltenberg doesn’t help things stating the obvious but should work feverishly toward ending the conflict.
Ukraine’s 40-year-old Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba shows off his prodigious ability to blow smoke, blaming everything on Russian. Kuleba is the last Ukrainian official that wants peace.  He wants to battle the Putin and the Kremlin until declaring victory over the Kremlin.  Belgium’s Defense Minister said that both “pieces Russian missiles and a Ukrainian interceptor missile” hit a farm building in the Polish town of Prxewodow.  “To be confirmed by ongoing investigations,” wrote Ludivine Dedonder tweeted.  Unlike Kuleba or others looking to escalate the war, Belgium shows the kind of judgment and common sense needed to defuse the current crisis.  If Kiev wants the Kremlin to stop firing missiles and wrecking more of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, they need to go to the peace table for ceasefire talks.  Complaining about he consequences of war, Kiev has other options to end the conflict.
When the chances of miscalculation, mishaps or mistaken happens, it’s time to end the risky business of continued war.  Zelensky wants every inch of its territory back from Russia but in the best of all possible worlds, ending bloody and destructive conflicts are more important than grudge matches.  Revenge gets Kiev nothing other than more carnage and infrastructure destruction.  Yesterday’s Polish missile mishap should remind the EU and NATO that it’s time to close the chapter on the Ukraine War.  No matter how many billions Kiev gets from the U.S. to fund its government and the war, it can’t go on forever.  When the new Republican Congress is installed Jan. 3, 2023, Biden’s blank check for the Ukraine War will end.  No matter how much U.S. elected officials support Ukraine, the blank check can’t last forever.  Now in its ninth month, the Ukraine War does nothing other that increase Ukraine’s misery.
When the dust settles long enough to tell who’s responsible for the Nov. 15 missile strike inside Poland, it’s growing more likely it was a stray Ukrainian anti-missile projectile.  Even if the missile came from Russian territory, the close border with Poland puts citizens into harm’s way.  Duda takes the mishap in stride knowing it could be far worse if missiles start striking Polish population centers.  EU and NATO ministers should look at the mishap with the intent of ending the war at the earliest possible time.  Too much room for miscalculations could escalate the conflict to WW III or worse yet nuclear war.  Zelensky wants to keep fighting but the time for compromise and negotiating is rapidly approaching.  Maintaining the status quo in Ukraine is no longer possible.  If the incident in Poland says anything, it’s that the risks of war are too great to keep it going without going to the peace table.

Massive Attack of Ukraine. 10 October
Missile and drone explosions in Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Odesa, Poltava, Kremenchuk, Kryvyi Rih, Kropivnitsky, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyy, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv. How Europe reacted
On October 10, the invaders launched a massive rocket attack on Ukraine from the territory of Russia and Belarus. Missiles X-101, and X-555, launched from the Caspian region, were used against Ukraine. Also, the attack was carried out from the Black Sea area by missiles Kalibr, Iskander, S-300, and Tornado. According to preliminary information received from Ukrainian deputy defence Hana Maliar, 83 rockets were fired. Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 43 missiles, while the rest of the attacks targeted critical infrastructure and residential buildings. Under the attack, there were 16 cities, including the capital. It is already known that 8 people died in the aftermath of the attack on Kyiv. In other cities of Ukraine, there are also dead and injured. Rescuers try to save as many people from the rubble.
European сommissioner Reynders was in Kyiv during the bombings. The politician was moved to a shelter.
"This morning, a series of explosions occurred in the centre of Kyiv. Thanks to the quick reaction of the security personnel, my team and I were quickly transferred to the hotel basement. We are safe and waiting for the development of the situation," the European Commissioner wrote on Twitter.
As a result of the terrorist attacks, many cities were left without electricity. The government asked people to make supplies of water, food, and mobile devices. Zelenskyy has already asked Olaf Scholz to convene the G7 meeting urgently. At an emergency meeting, the president of Ukraine will announce a full report on the Russian terrorist act of October 10. Also, the German chancellor and the head of Ukraine have already discussed the punishment for such terrorist acts and the plan to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure.
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola also responded to today's terrorist attacks on Ukraine.
"This again shows the world with which the regime we faced: With a regime that attacks without dissolving. With the fact that he bears terror and death on children. This is a crime. They will be brought to justice. Ukraine will win. Europe will not take a look," Metsola said.
So, today Russia "outdid" even the Islamic state.

I know that I have a rather particular taste, but my dream mod would extend the game's timeline to 15 February, , immediately after the end of the Seven Years' War, that way the player can experience and shape not only the victorian era, but the entire age of revolutions, in keeping with the game's themes of social upheaval and technological progress. Plus, since it starts after the conclusion of the war, the player would be able to slowly immerse themselves into the world of the late 18th century, without having to worry about waging a full-scale war from the very beginning of the game; there would be time to build to that, and potentially change the course of the revolutions, or create an alternate Napoleonic Wars, or even prevent the Napoleonic Wars from happening through shrewd gameplay. The possibilities are endless. It's not quite a conversion mod, but it'd definitely be a hell of a lot different from vanilla. Jessup03 Recruit 48 Badges. Jul 31, 5 5. Jul 16, 22 Last edited: Sep 21, Onlyherefortheconverter said:. IMO, the Victoria series should by default start at the end of the Seven Years War anyway because it was absolutely a watershed moment in world history. Industrialization and Imperialism - the core tenets and backbone of the Victoria games - both started with the Seven Years War Battle of Plassey for instance , so the post VIC starting date never made any sense to me. It's like starting the EU series in Speaking of EU, that game is clearly not equipped to handle the late s anyway but VIC is, which makes the post start date even more baffling to me. General 85 Badges. Feb 2, 1. I'm absolutely sure there will be timeline extension overhauls. Hell, there's a mod for hoi4 of all games. It's like running CK3 into the s and starting the EU series in Apr 25, I am most excited about how far from the — setting you could possibly get while still making heavy use of the core mechanics. A fantasy setting sounds great for that, in a crazy-enough-to-work way. Vernichtere said:. Fantasy can work quite well as long as magic is avoided as much as possible. Magic usually has logical problems for economic structure and military affairs. I can give elves different values based on biology and then still simulate a halfway believable society. But when I have a setting where quite a few people create access to fireballs and things from the air, it gets difficult. I can only use magical things as a kind of raw material.
