Bonjour 2024 ! ⏰

Cette année j’ai décidé de faire un bullet journal plus minimaliste. Je n’ai plus beaucoup de temps pour faire des pages très travaillées et plus l’envie non plus…

J’ai décidé également d’y mettre plus de souvenirs.

On commence l’année avec la page de garde (évidemment), mes objectifs et le calendrier de l’année.

Okay but why did I think that digital bullet journaling is the answer to all my paper bujo issues??????

I SPENT 4 HOURS AND ONLY GOT THE COVER PAGE AND THE CALENDAR DONE, I WANT A REFUND.

(and it isn't even half as decent. the transition period from paper to screen is the hardest.)

Did anyone else struggle with the initial adjustments from paper to screen or am I just not cut out for tech?

My 2023 Bullet Journal Set Up

I've had this finished for a couple days but I can't stop wanting to share it so... Here goes:

My future log is split over three pages. I've done the little leaf dividers in all four of my previous bujos, and I really like them bc otherwise I feel like it's very utilitarian. I am trying to decide if I should decorate the months like I usually do (on/around the text I usually do a little doodle--January is snowflakes, May is roses, December is holly, etc) so idk let me know what you think I guess?

Trying a few new things this year: I watched like a million 2023 set up videos on YouTube and saw a couple 23 23s in 2023 spreads, and while I've done level 10 life the last couple years I didn't feel like it's really working for me so I decided to try 23 23s instead. (If you want to know what my 23 things are, I have them figured out now but it took me ages.) I've also included a 2023 cover page, which is a piece of cardstock I taped in. Not pictured are the back of it and the page underneath; taped to the back of the cover page is a letter to myself for 2024, and opposite is my word of the year: assured.

The next two pages are my period tracker (a new inclusion in the start of year set up, as I usually leave it to later in the year, as a collection between January or February weeks. I also set up a wishlist and gift list, which I usually leave to sometime in October-December but figured I'd go ahead and include it up front this year. My last page is a budget spread, which I've never used before but I'd really like to get into budgeting as I like become more of an adult, so my first step is going to be tracking my monthly income and expenses here. I also have a monthly envelope for monthly expense tracking and like receipts and things, but I don't really know how it's going to work for me because I've never used anything before.

And that's my start of year set up! I'm using a leuchtturm 1917 with 120 gsm paper, which is new bc normally I just use a normal 1917. I wanted thicker paper this year but I love the features of the leuchtturm so this was a good compromise for me. I also got some new pens for Christmas, which I used lots in my set up too. And I'm loving using my journal already, so hopefully that keeps up too. Here's to a great 2023!

Bullet Journal 2023 - Collections Setup (continued)

Ironically starting the year with a brain dump spread because I panicked about what was staying, what was going, and where to even start for 2023.

SPREADS THAT ARE OUT:

Events - this wasn't used, and 90% of the time I forgot it was there. Whoops.

Computer Backup - YES I KNOW the irony of 'save ur work' shitposting hasn't actually listened to her own words of advice. It's out for now, but watch this space.

Art Events calendar/list - Not used, not really added to.

Haemochromatosis tracker - I actually started a medical journal during the year so somebody has a nice new shiny home to move to!

SPREADS THAT REMAIN - WITH CHANGES

Game Tracker A - This is the overview of the backlog, which is handy to see overall.

Game Tracker B - I'll probably add as the occasion arises, varies from game to game.

Monthly Project Progress Trackers - These worked really well at the start of 2022 and then they didn't. Wanna see if I can get them to work for me again, somehow. (Maybe this needs to be less "how many hours" and more "did u do work on The Thing today? Yes? Cool". It'd mean less set up and less brain power to operate.)

SPREADS THAT ARE NEW:

Future Log (Quarterly) - this is kind of a fusion idea between the old, unused Events spread and Art Events. Also features a little backup tracker from the Computer Backup because obviously having a dedicated Backup spread did NOT work last year. This year. Whatever it was.

Art Goals (Public / Private) - Trying to split out goals for my art from just being "do all the portfolio things" so that I actually direct some time and energy to getting it out there. Applying for zines, competitions, exhibitions, etc etc. And making a dedicated space for it, too.

WIP Graveyard - This was cute from 2022's December spread, so I thought that would be a good way to keep track of what leftover projects are haunting me into 2023! (Note: Not filling that in until Jan 1, because you never know what might get knocked over in the last hours of 2022)

Selfcare Rainbow - This is more a reminder page than anything else. Adding things to it as I think of alternative things I can add that aren't just 'art' that help with overthinking/anxiety/etc. (Inspired by this tumblr post: https://chooseselflove-againandagain.tumblr.com/post/673960022756278272)

As it is I'm still trying to cross off things on my list from my "holiday tasks" spread at the tail end of my 2022 collections journal. But at least 2023 is pretty much ready to go, except for setting up monthly spreads for Project Tracking, Habits/chores, Albums and Quotes. But that should be pretty easy.

I was so excited to set this up! My June calendar page is an odd mix of pride and moths. I don’t love doing heavy doodles, but I like filling empty space with them. The color coding is also linked with my Google Calendar.

Il y a évidemment le calendrier annuel où je mets tous les événements importants de l’année. J’ai également décidé d’entreprendre un suivi des tâches ménagères en fonction du moment de l’année. Still working on setting up my 2024 bullet journal (whoops)

I've been having trouble figuring out how I want to write my goals down, but I'm very excited about it all--I'm trying something new bc I liked my 23 23s from last year but didn't actually do most of them 23 times so I'm going more advent calendar-style this year. And I'm going to try a little 2024 memory page, too.

I don't know why I can't get my pictures to rotate the way I took them??? But they're there anyway bc I am very proud of them.
