Hey Watcher fans, if you guys are looking for new content to listen to now that Watcher is disappearing into a paywall I reccomend checking out Red Web!

They're also an unsolved mystery podcast with 2 hilarious hosts Trevor and Fredo and they used to be part of Roosterteeth but now that RT is shutting down they're going indie and making their own channel to continue the show in the future. (We aren't sure if they're changing their name yet but for now it's still called Red Web) They have some topics that cross with Watcher and Buzzfeed Unsolved but they also dive into modern internet mysteries, mysterious historical artifacts, ARGs and even a few ghost hunts of their own and they're extremely passionate about it that they wanted to continue their show even after their parent company shut down.

I reccomend checking them out and supporting them as they branch out from their main company just like Watcher did with Buzzfeed many years ago. Who knows? Maybe we can help them become the new Watchers in the future?

I’m just…shocked. i watched that video and kept waiting for the punchline, kept waiting for them to eventually go “haha, just kidding!! now here’s the REAL announcement.” but no. they kept going and my heart kept sinking. what the fuck?? genuinely?? not only are they putting all new content behind a paywall but it seems like they’re also taking down all their old content and putting it there too?? what about fans who can’t afford this? are they sure their channel is even big enough to sustain this business move?? are they making enough content to justify $60 annual subscriptions?? this just seems dumb and unfair, yikes :/

I’ve been a fan for a long time, I remember watching Buzzfeed Unsolved as they were coming out. I do want y’all to succeed with Watcher, but you have to admit it feels unplanned at best and tasteless at worst to isolate all of your international, young, and poor fans. Also the service will only be on desktop apparently. I’ve seen other fans mention great alternatives like more tiers on Patreon, more ads, or partnering with Nebula.

I want to echo what others are saying, we loved your show for your personality and charisma. No one was asking for high production value. It just feels like as time has gone on y’all have lost touch with what so many of your fans like and value.

as a loyal viewer of everything Ryan and Shane have done since the early buzzfeed unsolved days, seeing Watcher move to a subscription service is really sad - most people nowadays (me included) can’t afford basic necessities most months so an extra $5 on top of all the other streaming platforms just isn’t feasible at all.

I wish the Watcher team all the best and I’ll miss their content dearly, but I hope they’re prepared to lose most of their usual viewers.

Imagine a symbol of power for the US in wwII just disappears one day, some say he crashed into the Arctic, others say he was captured yada yada. Video title would prob be ‘ mysterious husbands that have appeared all throughout history’ Crowley has been EVERY WHERE IN HISTORY however he changes his look alot. However Aziraphale hasn’t really hidden himself or changed, ever. So he would be the weird nice man that the entire street thinks has been around since the 1800s and does not like customers at all. Imagine all the pieces and statues that Corey has probably had done of himself throughout history. It just looks like the same dude except one isa picture from the 1900s and the other is a statue from ancient rome. It would be an awesome ep

Hannibal/ The Chesapeake Ripper

Watch the show. No one knows who this killer is?? (Other than us watching the show but even then I can barely tell) Plus the copycat killers. He has a very specific style of killing and is very theatrical but is impossible to find, they would probably say he is a theatre major . All the theories would be very interesting to watch

The Winchester brothers

I have not seen supernatural (I know im uncultured) but my friend loves it and to my understanding, two brothers just go around the country trying to investigate paranormal activity with a man who might be an angel, and ‘fist fighting god’ (what the hell??) according to my sources. Maybe they would just be friends with Shane and Ryan and make a cameo on the show.

Trying to figure out any superhero identity (dc, marvel, ect)

Id imagine all the dumb theories and maybe even trying to get them on the show and investigating them. Spiderman would DEFINITELY get on the show just to fuck with em, especially toms spiderman bc hes a genz icon

The tardis/ the doctor

A box that just appears throughout history, no matter the time period despite being made in the 1950s , people would FREAK OUT. Like Rose Tyler for example she was missing for what a year ? And came back with a strange man out of a police box. A person called the doctor that is worshiped throughout history and sometimes there are photos of the same person in completely different times.
