I don't remember if I've mentioned it here before or if I only babble about it on discord as is my wont, but the discovery of the fungal rope last episode further solidifies my theory that whatever continent was plucked from Exandria to make Ruidus, that landmass was the original home of the elder brains like All Minds Burn, and that Predathos is filling an ecological niche on Ruidus that is MEANT to be filled by an elder brain. I suspect that planting All Minds Burn's seed on Ruidus will not be introducing an invasive species, but actually combating one. After all, the conditions needed for the seed, and for something like that fungus, are the same, and the red storms of Ruidus seemed to call to All Minds Burn iirc.

I know I go on about how monumentally stupid Ludinus' Predathos plan is but it's because every time I think about it, I find something new to criticize.
Let's start with the obvious: Predathos has a fucking terrible track record of successful god-eating. It ate 2 gods out of a pantheon of 22 before it was defeated, locked in a moon and left to brood for millennia. That's a 9.1% success rate and nothing has substantially changed since then that would make it any easier for Predathos to get the whole pantheon before it gets locked in another prison and probably shot into space permanently this time.
Two, and this might be a "minor" inconvenience that Ludinus has already dismissed because he's put together a bunker for himself and his chosen, blowing up a moon is gonna kill millions of people. Granted, my research on "what if the moon explodes" is rudimentary and the other moon will probably stave off the worst effects of "deleting the tides" and "destabilizing axial tilt", but it only took a rock six miles in diameter to wipe out 75% of Cretaceous plant and animal life and Predathos is about to send a lot more twenty times the size.
Three, let's assume mortalkind survives Predathos popping Ruidus like an overripe fruit. What's next? Well, obvious it makes its way to the Divine Gate and starts chewing. Assuming it gets through, (probably with your help since it couldn't through the same protections on its prison), it's gonna unleash all the gods, including the ones that want everyone on Exandria dead. Sure, maybe the Prime Deities will try and stave them off, but they'll have their hands full with Predathos, so it would be ridiculously easy for the Betrayers to make sure that if they go down, those mortal bastards are coming with them. And well...humanity did just try to murder all the gods for the crime of "not giving us what we want". Would the Prime Deities even consider them worth saving?
Four, let's assume that Point One, by some miracle, does not happen, and Predathos isn't overwhelmed and shot into space like the last time. It eats the whole pantheon, and then goes for the final course, Tharizdun. Being less a god and more a force of utter oblivion, Tharizdun eats Predathos as an appetizer before ushering in the Epoch of Ends.
So yeah, mortalkind is fucked if Predathos gets out and this is why you don't let wizards have power.

My guys, my people, my fam.
Get the facts straight, alright?
• The ancient texts that the Grim Verity stole about the forgotten gods are ANCIENT. Not during calamity, not age of arcanum, NOT THE SKISM EITHER. These bad boys pre-date the fucking founding. They are from the time the gods arrived in exandria. Watch the exandrian timeline on youtube if you are still a bit confused about this whole deal.
That's why they are such a humongous deal.

Revenant laudna theories?? Please elaborate?
Revenant is UA but basically for a character who met a “cruel and undeserved end” that comes back with a specific goal given to them by the DM (IE kill this enemy, accomplish this task, etc.) and while they have that goal they basically cannot die. When they’re low on health they regain a hit point every turn, and if they die they come back to life 24 hours after death
A couple things hinted at this maybe being a possibility. When Delilah said to Laudna, “Death is a waiting game”, and when FCG cast Gentle Repose Matt said it seemed to stave off something that was happening for the time being (it had been less than 24 hours since her death, so it’s possible Gentle Repose delayed that).
So yeah I’ve seen the theory that Delilah is going to bring her back as a revenant, which would be awesome to have that as a contingency to bring her back! The only problem is that as a revenant, once you accomplish the goal given to you by the DM, you die forever and nothing can bring you back.
It seems pretty comparable to Vax at the end of campaign 1 where he kept dying but because of his pact with the raven queen, he kept coming back. But once they defeated Vecna, he had to die.
So like, resurrecting her would be ideal so that she can continue to Live even after the campaign, but Revenant would be good as a way to have her back and let her live her life but still have a tragic, bittersweet ending

Okay, crackpot theory ahead of Thursday: Imogen’s surge of power reacted with the vast amounts of dunamancy potion in the immediate vicinity and...created a time loop, shunting them back to the beginning of the dust storm.

SO, Fearne is Ruidus-born and shortly after she was born her father Ollie started having visions of storms on the moon. Imogen has similar dreams about Ruidus and the Gray Assassins. And Imogen’s mother was Ruidus-born. So maybe Imogen isn’t Ruidus-born but because she’s related to someone who is she has a stronger connection to the moon??? Like clearly she inherited some of Liliana’s power but the dreams are different. Maybe with each Ruidus-born a person close to them/related to them gets chosen to be like a portent of the moon for them???? Idk I have a lot of thoughts. Hey Bell’s Hells what’s it like to have your life goals overlap with all your closest friends’ backstories

so about the anti-res poison
it is said that the Raven Queen before becoming such was a Ruidus born right?
and Keyleth is entranched with the Raven Queen from the past for obvious reasons
so what if the Paragon's Call is a Raven Queen death cult, they're all hyped up about the potential of breaking the Divine Gate and inspired by history
so maybe this isn't a new Calamity but Otohan/Paragon's Call is trying to use the Apogee to try and attempt what the Raven Queen did back in her day
clearly tons of parties are involved in this because the Apogee Solstice is well known for being a moment in time where magic becomes charged up and erratic even
the forgotten gods are there because people either want to release them or observe them (Ira, though I gotta go look at the eps properly to draw a better conclusion) or become them because "it's in their blood" (Otohan)

CR3: Episode 33
Spoilers
And Speculation!
—————
So, Otohan Thull. (Thuul? However many u’s for a long ooh sound).
Threatened Imogen to invoke whatever suped up power she has as a special Ruidusborn. Has no problem dealing with Fearne despite her also being Ruidusborn. And specifically stated that she has been culling the Ruidusborn. So weeding out - the weak? Weak in power? Or weak in tether? In their connection to Ruidus?
When Imogen has her moment, the changes Matt mentions don’t exactly put her in the same range of descriptors as Otohan. So perhaps Otohan isn’t a special Ruidusborn. But then what gave her this charge, this mission to cull them? What makes her have psychic powers like Imogen?
But also, more than Imogen? She can sense the call that Imogen feels. She can sense her mind, sure, but seems to have some way of sensing the Ruidus-based pull and call within Imogen, and how close she is to it taking her. So Otohan’s obviously got experience with it in some way. Personal experience? Experience with another special Ruidusborn? Who knows! She doesn’t seem to know Imogen as Liliana Temult’s daughter, the way other characters have recognised her - or at least hasn’t hinted or said anything to suggest she does, which it feels like she might have when taunting and provoking her, if she did. And Liliana is the only other living special Ruidusborn that we’re aware of and know by name. It’s all just very interesting.
Also: what is she culling them for? The Gods need followers, like the cast theorised on 4-sided Dive, so wouldn’t culling the Ruidusborn be inherently negative? Reducing the potential for their power? Is she working to essentially distill them down to their most powerful members? To build an army?
What the fuck is up with that?

I feel like Matt is planning another calamity.
There are so many connections to the former high-level characters that there’s no way this man is not resisting making this more higher level than normal because there’s way too many connections too powerful people. They were already made in make currently following some threads.
They are level 6 and they have a month timetable. And they don’t even understand everything that’s going on I don’t understand everything that’s going on.

My theory with regards to Imogen and the Ruidusborn network is that she isn't singularly remarkable; I think maybe the Exaltants act like step-up transformers kinda, channeling and increasing the power from the other Ruidusborn before sending it to Predathos. And the power requirements to wake up Predathos at this time means that if the Ruby Vanguard attempted it with their current numbers, the process would overload and fry the Exaltants taking part.
Maybe the reason Ludinus wanted the rest of the Omen Archive is specifically because they needed at least one more awakened Exaltant to provide Predathos with the necessary power without frying all the component Ruidusborn. Perhaps they COULD do it right now if backed into a corner. Maybe there are two ticking clocks. For the Hells and the Exandrian forces, the clock ticks to the point where the Vanguard can find their last Exaltant transformer to complete the process safely; for the Vanguard, perhaps they are racing to find another Exaltant before attacks on the Malleus Key force them to go ahead and wake Predathos without the required numbers, burning them up in the process.
Maybe Imogen is not THE key but rather a potential final piece that could be replaced, given enough time.

Honestly I wonder if the beings in those cities on Ruidus’ surface even want the lattice to be cut. If Predathos cracks the moon open to escape, they’d be the first to go.

I hate the theory that Zerxus was devoted to the Luxon on accident and here’s why:
First of all- if you know me at all, you’ve heard me rant and rave about my theory that the Luxon is no god at all. Since the end of campaign two that has been disproved, though I still hold to the lore that theory would have created in my personal Exandria games. But my personal distrust in the status of the Luxon is besides the point in this instance.
I will also add before I start that this is no dis to anyone who likes this idea I’ve just got THOUGHTS ok? Shhrjsjrh
My firstt qualm with the idea is the fact that you can’t just accidentally draw on a divine power- not as a paladin at least. Paladins are sworn directly to something. Paladins are people so devoted to some god or ideal or whatever that in swearing yourself to it you start to gain power. Zerxus is a redemption paladin, sworn to the ideal that there is good in all and all should be given chance to make themselves new. He is sworn to protect the people of Avalir, to protect the good he sees in the people of this city. That’s his whole thing. We know very little about the ideals and intentions of the Luxon but what we have heard doesn’t really line up with his whole stick for me to be able to believe he accidentally latched onto this deity. So not only do I think it’s difficult to hold onto the idea that he would accidentally swear himself to an entity- Especially when Zerxus is so sure of what he’s sworn and seems to hold himself by his oath quite religiously- I think it’s unlikely that the Luxon is the deity you stumble into when getting sworn to the ideals of redemption. I find it much more likely for him to be devoted directly to his ideals- or even to Evandrin, maybe they were his ideals first and Zerxus only swore to continue to fight for them. Evandrins reaction to Zerxus’ actions and effort when they meet in the astral plane makes this seem very likely to me.
I can understand drawing similarities in the aesthetic of Zerxus magic and using the starlight comparison as evidence, though just the way things have been described tends to discount that for me personally. Because the power of the Luxon is described like pure white starlight. The black void dotted with stars in the distance. And much of the asthetic of the Kyrn draws on that silvery pure light surrounded by dark purples and blacks. But Zerxus’ magic is described much like Tempus, it looks like the most beautiful swirling and chaotic parts of the cosmos. It looks like a galaxy not the pure night sky, and perhaps I’m drawing on too thin of a difference but it makes a world of difference in my mind. I might go back and dig up some descriptions of both the Luxon and the fight last episode to further support this.
Most importantly I’m not sure how much power the Luxon is able to grant. Some one correct me if I’m wrong- my memory of the Xhorhas era of campaign two is a bit fuzzy and I’m writing this stream of consciousness style on 5 hours of sleep- but I don’t believe we see the power of any clerics of the Luxon, nor paladins. Most of the soldiers we see from them are echo knights, and we see most of their inner magical workings centered around dunamancy. And I tend to think that might be all they get. The magic that they can extract from the beacons. Because how can a deity gift powers like the rest when they’ve spread themself around the world in fragments to help it grow? The Luxon is no longer and entity from my understanding, instead it breathed life into Exandria by becoming it to answer its own questions about existence. So they may be nothing but the beacons left to draw on the Luxon’s power from.
Lastly, I would like to say that narratively, on a very meta scale, I find the idea of Zerxus accidentally being tied to a god since the beginning is disappointing to me. So much of the point of him in my mind is his hubris that parallels every mage in the era. He is so quick to discredit and then humanize the gods just like the thee arcane practitioners of the group and ends up going much farther in that thought then ANY of the rest of them. The POINT is that he sees himself above such powers, and as kind as he is in that arrogance, that is his down fall. Tying him to the Luxon is an over complicated process that ultimately defeats the purpose of the character in my mind.
And that’s really all I have to say on the matter, I’m sorry if this is very jumbled I’m typing this on mobile and I don’t have the brain cells to go back an edit, if you’ve made it this far thanks for reading

WHAT IF OTOHAN IS IMOGENS GRANDMA???
(Sorry I had a sudden thought and had to share. I doubt that will be the case, I feel like she hasn't been described or acted in a way of recognition. Also I got the feeling she wasn't that much older than Liliana. Suddenly got the thought when they asked if any other people had Imogens lightning marks and Matt said she had always been fully covered with armor)

I can't remember if I ever actually posted about this, but...
Ever since Matt first described the Judicators and their masks, I immediately thought of the descriptions in Calamity about how the betrayer gods basically used up, corrupted, and disfigured their clerics as basically just belief-power batteries. I have to watch [Calamity] again for the actual description but I remember it being gnarly.
I just... have a gut feeling that's basically what the Judicators are. The weapon of the betrayer gods turned against them. That despicable method used in the name of good. Carefully guarded and limited, but not hidden or eradicated because it's too useful. Too powerful to just let die out.
I feel like... If anyone ever successfully removed one's mask... these respective followers of "good" and "evil" would be indistinguishable.

Sam’s gas can has a very special announcement for Travis! Somehow, Travis did not register the presence of a massive sign saying “Travis I’m pregnant” at the table.
Tumblr media
Sam soon swapped it out for a sign saying “Travis it’s a meme.” Laura is grateful, this is not a bit to announce another pregnancy. Travis doesn’t know what anyone is talking about.
Tumblr media
“Internet: no one is pregnant.” Be chill, guys, it’s just a gag.
