Went out for Record Store Day yesterday. They didn’t have the J Dilla instrumental album I was going for but I scooped up two 3” MF DOOM/Czarface albums. Also nabbed “Czarface meets Metal Face” on sale. Totally worth the trip.

i see you’re a mf doom fan! i’ve been meaning to get onto his music for a while, are there any albums/songs you’d recommend as a starting point?

oh absolutely.

ok heres my tip . get high and listen to madvillainy in full. then have a long think to yourself. (if you can't get high simply sit quietly)

after this i would recommend starting with MM...FOOD then operation doomsday then born like this... and then explore the rest of his stuff on your own- i LOVE czarface meets metal face for the record. i have it on vinyl

British-born rapper, songwriter, and record producer MF DOOM has passed away on October 31, 2020 at age 49.  He’s best known for his elaborate lyrics, genre-bending collaborations, and iconic “supervillain” mask/persona.

I've never heard of these Czarface characters until now, however, I've been a fan of MF Doom ever since falling hard for his [Adult Swim] collaboration with Danger Mouse so I was quick to try this one out when I saw it floating around. And boy was I rewarded! Czarface Meets Metal Face is a great collection of sometimes playful and sometimes sinister cartoon hero/villain banter. The best track, "Bomb Thrown", has got some pretty big Dangerdoom vibes, with a sugar cereal hook and plenty of casual yet nimble banter and wordplay.

Best Moment: The beginning of Doom's bars where he dismisses arguing on the internet with "got jokes, but usually don't engage in no snap fight / could be considered a waste confrontin' snakes on the back bite" at 2:10.
