Peugeot 504 Cabriolet, 1969, by Pininfarina. The 504 saloon had also been designed at Pininfarina but the coupé and cabriolet derived from it had nothing in common stylistically with their 4-door relative. The cabriolet was first presented at the 1969 Geneva Motor Show and was powered by the fuel injected 1.8 litre engine from the 504 Ti. It remained in production until 1983 but was never replaced

A “bocca” aperta
Lancia Astura 233 Cabriolet Pinin Farina “tipo Bocca” 1936
Comm. Luigi and Cav. Franco Bocca, father and son, were the Lancia dealer for Biella. Great friends of Vincenzo Lancia’s family, in the late ‘30s they pushes Pinin Farina, Lancia’s favorite coachbuilder, to experiment Art Déco style using the Astura chassis. For this reason this type of front grille is know as “tipo Bocca”.

Janis Joplin’s 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet that was painted in eye-catching psychedelic designs. Janis bought it used in 1968 for $3,500. It’s the final version of the venerable “C” model, sold from 1964 through 1965. She loved the Porsche and used all 90 horsepower to good effect blasting around Los Angeles and up and down the west coast wearing the unmistakable paint applied by one of her band’s “roadies.”

Porsche is the world's leading sports car manufacturer. Its history is a process of evolution of one idea, lasting more than half a century. This process was initiated by the Austrian engineer Ferdinand Porsche, who opened his design office in Stuttgart in 1931. By order of Hitler in the late 30s. he developed the rear-engined small car Volkswagen Beetle, and ten years later his son, Ferry Porsche, built the first sports model, the Porsche 356, on the Beetle chassis. Its small-scale production was organized in 1948 at a sawmill in the Austrian village of Gmünd. The car proved to be surprisingly popular, and in 1950 the company returned to Stuttgart, where it was awarded a contract for the supply of bodies with the local Reutter atelier. A year later, she entered the American market, which for many years became her main sales market.
Today Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is the most profitable automobile company in the world with the highest profit per unit of production.

Speedster The Porsche 356A replaced the original Porsche 356 in September 1955, following its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It bore the internal designation Typ 1, so fans of the brand often call it T1, although after the changes in 1958 its index was changed to T2. As for the previous model from 1948-1955, the name Porsche 356 Pre-A stuck to it.

The differences between the two cars are not very striking because the company has always followed a policy of gradual improvement rather than radical design changes. Porsche 356A is separated from the predecessor only solid bent windshield (without a central partition), chrome moldings on the thresholds, revised instrument panel with three sensors and 15-inch wheels instead of 16-inch.

Less noticeable changes in handling were in the suspension and steering. As before, there were three body styles to choose from: the 2 + 2 coupe, the 2 + 2 convertible and the two-seater Speedster. They were all built at the Reutter atelier in Stuttgart.

The rear-mounted boxer 4-cylinder air-cooled engine for the Porsche 356A was available in four versions: 1300N (1290 cm3, 44 hp), 1300S (1290 cm3, 60 hp), 1600N (1582 cm3, 60 hp) and 1600S (1582 cm3, 75 hp). The letters "N" and "S" stood for "Normal" and "Super". All of these options were 8-valve, low camshaft and tappets (OHV), in contrast to the Carrera series engine, which also had 8 valves, but two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and dual ignition with separate distributors.
