“Nightmare”
THE BIRD MAN,,,
favorite thing about him: the mystery between what his connection to novelist and memory is. like we know he's "the bad orpheus" But we don't really know HOW he got that way. i like how even for hunters, he's like a step above most in terms of knowing what's really going on behind the scenes and i want to look into his brain sm
least favorite thing about him: i wish he was more viable on more maps or at least got a 🤏 buff
favorite line: "See you, Orphy." ICONIC it was so chilling when i heard it the first time
brOTP: I cant explain it but aside from hunter OJL i also like him and keigan...
OTP: i dont really see ship content for nightmare that much aside from nightnovel, and their art can be pretty cute so sure
nOTP: I can't believe i need to say this but the fact people actually ship him with memory deals me psychic damage. also him x Burke or Bane bc they knew orpheus as a child while they were adults so. no
random headcanon: he can see through the eyes of the crows that chill near ciphers in every match. he'd be in his lab watching you when you fuck up a cipher calibration and laugh
unpopular opinion: i don't really consider him to be the *same* person as novelist (as in, he’s what novelist inevitably turns into). if anything, IDV tends to depict them as two sides of a coin, not necessarily the same person, on top of them shown in an essence coexisting seperately (and we still dont know what the dukes' deal are), despite that connection the two have. just my thoughts on the two atm. whether they're supposed to be a clear jekyll and hyde situation or something else, idk.

I have no idea if my obsessive anxiety is calibrated right.
At one end of the scale, we have my brother, who just flings himself into other countries with weird wildlife with nary a care in the world. Bro you do actually have to get vaccines and travel insurance. Please stay out of- ah, too late, he's in bloody Australia for the cricket.
At the other, we had my dad, who I take after a lot, who absolutely refused to go near Japan's free-roaming monkeys. I'm pretty sure that's because as a virologist with untreated anxiety, he had visions of everyone getting macaque herpes and dying of brainsplode.
And then there's me, who just reads a bunch more stuff and learns that all cases of zoonotic macaque herpes (it's transmitted in bites and spit, get your mind out of the gutter) took place in labs where the monkeys were pretty sick and stressed, and nobody has ever caught it from a free-roaming monkey, and decides the risk is theoretically present but acceptable.
WE ALL THINK WE'RE NORMAL.
I'm pretty sure I'm not, actually, because normal people don't think about monkey herpes at all, but I reckon I've got the best spot on that scale.
But I would; I'm nuts.

The murky depths of Deep Colosseum may not be the most appropriate place to wish someone well on their birthday, though anyone would be hard-pressed to tear Magdelena away from her work when she's mid-breakthrough—or, when she's just waking up.
【 Tues 31 January, 09:55:57 AM OST. 】 【 Checking random thoughts generator... 100% 09:56:31 AM OST. 】
Stepping out from within her cryo-chamber towards the Colosseum's deeper recesses, Mag's irises flash fluorescent as she calibrates to being 'awake'. She senses Saya closing in through the makeshift tunnel that remains the only true access point into this region of The Under, a ghostly place still trapped within time.
【 Checking basic functions... 100% 09:57:01 AM OST. 】
Mag pulls a robe over herself, quick to cover the parts she never wishes to provide full view of; sauntering towards a plain, plastic table near the center of the arena, the bounty hunter retrieves a toolbox just moments before her eyes return to their default shade of light purple. They meet quickly with the blood rust color of Saya's, the two girls standing in silence for a moment. Silence filled with the hum of mechanisms churning and awakening, themselves; it'd be another laborious day, she senses.
Silence then breaks.
Tumblr media
"Here," monotone, still groggy to a certain extent, Mag hands over the box. "For your vehicle. I had recalled you being in need of a new set of tools, and so consider this what you humans would designate a 'birthday gift'."
Nine, nearly ten in the morning was still fairly early for someone like Saya - someone that stayed up until around three in the morning most nights. She pulled on her clothes for the day, a black bralette with her green bomber jacket over it, left unzipped as per usual. Her foot caught in a hole in her jeans, ripping it even worse than it already was - oh well. Black boots were pulled on afterwards, Saya leaving the dingy Pyrite home situated in the slums. She checked on her bike real quick in the shoddy, makeshift workshop she'd put together. Everything was still in place thankfully.
Saya moves through the town with purpose, hands shoved in her pockets. It was chilly in the desert today, with thick grey clouds hanging overhead. Part of her wondered if it would rain, but for now, the sun was blotted out. She's quick to find the tunnel that leads to the Deep Colosseum - the only point of entry that leads underground anymore.
Finally, she makes it to Mags' lab, the other woman turning at her arrival before Saya could say anything. Saya hears the whirring and churning of machinery, starting up for the day. Crimson eyes trail down to the toolbox being presented to her, before looking back up at Mags.
Tumblr media
"No shit- y'really got these fer me?" Saya hesitates for a second, before taking the toolbox from Mags. It was true - she was in very dire need of tools. Her bike was a bitch to work on, and the tools she had were cheap, secondhand ones she bought in bulk. That combination led to many of her wrenches outright snapping, and all Saya could do was weld them back together as a temporary solution. As she opens the box and looks over the set, she can tell by a glance that they're nicer than what she has. Maybe she can finally get that damned stubborn rusted bolt off her engine so she can get the main issue fixed up.
There's a rare, genuine smile on Saya's face as she closes the box, looking back up to the other. She has to remind herself that this is a gift. It's her birthday, there's no strings attached. Though, she will keep in mind to repay the favor on Mags' birthday once it comes up. "Thanks, Mags, y'.... y'really didn't have t'do that. Hope I can put 'em t'good use."

Simulation #0088
Contains fatal Vore
Summary:
Midori has plans for the miniature Shin AI dolls at the lab.
How would one of them react waking up, small enough to be eaten right in front of their old pal?
____________
Test Run #0088 Ai Tsukimi Shin ver 17.2

Sou strolled into the lab at 6 am, donning his black suit and scarlet scarf, discarding his empty coffee cup. He promptly began typing, starting up the AI as usual, feeding it into a new doll this time. Asunaros budget for additional tests were short this month, so Shin was as well. Making his way to the dimly lit testing counter a dozen eyes unmoving. Except for two. Calibrating the sensory inputs the doll came to life, wearing a disoriented expression. Very good.

There it was a hushed whisper.. well to the taller employee anyways. For the Tsukimi AI was fed into a miniature doll for budget reasons. He could make this work in his favor though… “Hello Shinn~” Sou spoke out of visual rendering range, taking it slow with the act of showing himself. Rather studying his surprised and hectic twitch. “Sou..? Where are you? “ Shins voice was very quiet… yet he answered

“What, aren't you glad to see your best friend? How cold of you..”,in mock hurt. “What are you talking about? I don't see you everywhere. You're just messing with me via the speaker system. Show yourself!”

Seems he is hiding his fear by hardening his voice into anger. In fact Hiyori wasn't even trying hard to hide. His dark uniform and ghostly still frame just happened to blend into the background. Oh /well/.

Shin felt a tremor from the ground and expensive shoes entered the ring of light near the edge, just as a gust of wind blew at his hair. Wait. This is somewhere inside so why is there win- “Ahh!-” What the hell?? It's impolite but his fight or flight instincts forced his legs to scurry farther back, not removing his gaze-jeez he still couldn't see his complete enormous large body- right into some warm wall. Which shoved him right back to where he came from. It was his hand!?

A sickeningly familiar face stared right at him, mere meters(?) away. “Now, now don´t leave yet! I've only just started my visit, you know?” He spoke. “How can you call this a visit? This” - he gestured vaguely around the flat blank surface- “is not my home! A-and I can't remember inviting you…” Shin was slightly beginning to freak out, is he hallucinating?? But if this is indeed the real-deal-Hiyori he needed to be VERY careful.

“Oh but you should learn to love surprises! Everyone can.” He smiled. “How do you plan to get off this desk without your spine shattering on the floor tiles? :O”

He flinched and closed his eyes awaiting to be crushed. He can't fight. He couldn't when he was average sized.. He can't resist physically, especially now. Sou knew that and used it fully to his delight.. After a few moments and opening his eyes he found the hand petting his hair instead. Very carefully. God he could end him so slow yet so fast with minimum effort. Rip his scalp off, disconnect his neck. His finger stroking his hair snaked into the scruff of his scarfed neck “A-ah-I dont need- I don't want (deserve? yuck) your help, Sou… please” Goosebumps marched down his back. “Hm you are kinda cold” Hiyori determined.

The other's eyes bore into every cell of his frame, anticipating a reaction, like some sort of lab rat, Shin felt. The green haired giant grabbed the flailing Shin, nearly squishing him in the process, holding him between stomach and back. So frail, he could feel his fluttering heart beating crazy just under his fingertip if he applied pressure, the shorter one's breath hitching once he added the tiniest amount of pressure. Adorable.

If he couldn't fight him back in the days in flesh and bone, he impossibly could at less than a sixteenth of his original height, That's for sure. Smiling Sou allowed Shin to –breathe– take a seat on his loose fisted hand, the latter ones legs dangling in a dangerous tunnel, without a choice. “Remember the old times? When you fell down the rubble chute on the day we went to the abandoned factory? From the upper floor you tumbled like a little bumblebee!”

__________________________________________

“..so jumpy haha..it's no different from a hug…next time I should…” He hadn't listened to Hiyori for a while now. He hated interrupting someone but if he is in this mess he at least deserves to know why, surely. He was hanging on his last nerves here.

“Sorry but why am I so small again..?” was the chosen inquiry.“Hm you always were shorter than me Shin, don't be silly what's a dozen decimeters more or less? Besides, you're still super cute like this. Like candy haha” Sou licked his lips at that. What a weirdo. Shin stammered- “Uh..thanks..”- Very helpful thanks a lot…not the info he was necessarily hoping for.

Sou shifted his grip to restrict Shin again and tossed him from hand to hand for good measure. So light. Meanwhile vertigo painted the tiny one´s guts, until he spoke: “See you trust me, so let me warm you up nice and cozy, alright? “ he did not process his position coming closer and closer to Sous mouth.

A Shove, a clack and the light was completely gone. He struggled no different from a fish on land with the narrow space the tongue gave him, moving constantly along the liters of drool collected here in advance. Recklessly soaking and tasting him, there was no use and no way of orienting one’s self. So his protesting moves shushed against the red humid tissues. The mouth smelled what bubblegum companies think apple flavor is. What is he doing is he serious this joke is going too far he is going to impale him for good just like that for all those years of fake friendship, make believe and cahoots??

He enjoyed him not unlike candy instead of an acquaintance or “friend”. Way to take the phrase Loving someone to bits'' literally. “Ahaha don't be so modest, no need to scoot away with such a grand woodruff taste! “ At this point he was going to pass out from nausea, humidity, or terror.

Eventually he grew satisfied enough with the sampling. He tilted his chin up, smiling as he felt Shin sliddering along the slippery tongue, too wet to cling onto anything, except his dread. Sou swallowed, enjoying Shins scream echoing through his esophagus as the little one fell into the red abyss. Hmmm ~🎶 He removed his scarf to feel Shins descent with his free hand, amused by the feeble struggle.

Shin fell into the gooey sac with a sizzling splash. It was not pleasant, unsurprisingly. Hot, humid and hard to breathe. He could barely make out anything except the hot biting liquid and the fleshy walls. He wondered if Sou would even feel his scratching, pounding, shouting. Climbing on top of half digested mushy pile -anything to get out of the gut sauce- continuing to push, grab, kick against the wall. At least doing something to inconvenience him. Between the gurgling and roaring of other organs, a thundering chuckle shook him off his platform. It was humiliating.

He slammed right into the opposite side, liquid rising to his chest. It stung. He looked around frantically in the dark “room” for somewhere to climb onto. Where was that pile? There! Hastily he swam over but. The pile was not some food as he first assumed. They were bodies. Faces stuck in various unhappy expressions melting off. His face. His faces. What- how many- how often did this fate occur?

Soon he also would join them without a trace, without significance. “SOU!!” he hissed waveringly. For the edges of his little vision blurred as his oxygen supply ran low. His lung only pulled crackling musk into his throat, coughing, eyes burning, knees buckling, sinking, inhaling, drowning, passing out.

...

Well this was certainly useless fighting. Not as if it mattered anymore. Oh but the reactions he could feel, wondering what Shin was thinking as the turmoil faded, in his final moments, perhaps seeing the others and follow their demise? He'd have to try to put a bunch of them into cereals… This would certainly not be the last testing. Something scratchy was still in his mouth. He pulled out a remaining miniscule scarf, and tossing it away.

It is especially important in fatal and critical diseases like cancer, where early detection could help us prevent the disease and improve life expectancy. With rising levels of pollution in urban life, food contamination and adulteration, human immunity has weakened over the years. As a result, it is recommended that you have your entire body checked on a regular basis to avoid the onset of any disease.

Ten Point Six Seconds (Ten)
PART 1 OF The Doctor and the Junk.
SUMMARY : Prisoner Charlie Swan works for UNIT. He's a brilliant scientist identified as a Gallifreyan anomaly, and he has an unusual, particular hatred for the Doctor.
WARNINGS : None.
Tumblr media
GIF NOT BY ME. CREDITS TO CREATOR.
"What is that sound?" The Doctor seemed extremely offended by the sound of classic American music―from the seventies, eighties, and nineties―coming from some corner of the factory. Colonel Mace grimaced, as though he had been expecting the inquiry and was hoping it wouldn't be made.
"Charlie."
"What's Charlie?" Donna asked with a frown. Martha's lips curled a little.
"Who," she corrected. "Prisoner Charlie Swan. Officially."
"Officially," Colonel Mace grumbled. "He's sort of―"
"Part of our team," Martha finished. "Brilliant guy, really."
"Let's go meet him," the Doctor said firmly, walking in the direction of the music. It was loud, coming from a definitive point of origin. Loud, and practically vibrating the air. Charlie didn't care who he was bothering, clearly, with how loud his music was. "Why is he a prisoner and on your team?" he asked Martha. She glanced at Mace, who nodded.
"Gallifreyan anomaly who was on a warpath. When he kept trying to kill UNIT teams, we arrested him. Things happened," she said succinctly, "and now he works for us." The Doctor, who had been listening carefully (but not really, after the first two words), held up a reflexive hand.
"What's Gallifreyan anomaly supposed to mean?" Martha pressed her lips together. They were all standing outside a tent with clear panels in the flaps, fogged thick over.
"We're still not entirely sure."
"Martha Jones!" a loud voice called over the music. "I can hear you lurking! Come inside or go away!" The Doctor glanced at his former companion, a quirk on his eyebrows and lips.
"Lovely man," he commented, pushing aside the flaps for her and Donna to enter. He was halfway in when he questioned, "Colonel?" The military man was hovering outside.
"Leave him," Charlie said carelessly. "I don't let Rambo and his gun-toting goblins in my tent."
"For the last time," Mace seethed, "this is not your tent."
"Go away," Charlie said flatly. Further into the light, the Doctor could see he wore a white lab coat stitched with all colours of thread, with differently sized, shaped, and coloured patches and buttons. It was over a completely normal outfit, all black, three golden gems on a thin silver chain about his neck. The sleeves to the lab coat were rolled up, showing two silver bracelets holding slender bars, oddly sloped slots glowing blue and gold.
He turned.
"So, what the hell do you all want?"
"Be nice," Martha warned. "Have you found anything?"
"Unfortunately, yes." Charlie sat in a swivel chair missing the back and rolled towards a computer screen, black with green letters. "I took the computers you gave me and reformatted them to be better." He tapped a hunk of wires hanging out of the side as he spoke. They had shorted the circuiting, the Doctor surmised, so Charlie had simply chopped off everything connected. "So I scanned for alien life forms and found nothing, but I did find out more about Rattigan Academy. Rattigan may be a genius, but what he's done is simply far too developed for this time."
Charlie pulled up dimensions of a small motherboard.
"Just this is decades ahead. I figured out how to scan for such technology, but I've run into a slight problem: ATMOS is showing up everywhere, which means my system works, but we already know about their alien involvement. It's blotting out anything else my scanner might pick up." Charlie pursed his lips. "I was ten point six seconds into trying to figure it out when you lot pranced in here.'
"Try calibrating the scanner to ignore all ATMOS frequencies," the Doctor suggested.
"I can't," Charlie answered. "Won't work. It would ignore the technologies related to it as well. This tech isn't near as fine as Gallifrey's, which is the same reason it would take me hours, maybe even days, to build a new and specifically tuned scanner." He pointed at a different screen. "That could work, but I have it running half a dozen other programs, as is everything else. I'm stuck with this hunk of junk." He banged its side, and none too gently, with the heel of his palm.
"That hunk of junk," Martha said, "cost half a million pounds."
"Exactly! Junk." The Doctor leaned forward, glasses on, to examine the Junk. He pointed at a pair of blinking green dots.
"What are those?"
"Battery life. It has two years left."
"If you fully recharge and take these wires here..." The two Gallifreyans descended into muttering scientific babble and Donna turned to Martha.
"You said your fiancé―"
"―is not Charlie," she finished. "We're just friends. He says I'm the only one he thinks is 'halfway decent' because I'm not 'a clotpole who waves around a gun willy-nilly'." Donna chuckled quietly, though she wasn't quite sure what a clotpole was supposed to be.
"Oh, that's genius!"
The Doctor and Charlie had exclaimed at the same time. They walked over, Charlie clapping the Doctor on the back.
"Martha, your friend is absolutely brilliant, you have to bring him around more often. What's your name?"
"The Doctor," the Doctor offered, expecting either the usual round of 'Doctor who?' or a UNIT fan's head exploding. Instead of either reaction, Charlie's face fell. He was absolutely still for a moment.
"Get out."
Martha blinked in surprise.
"Charlie―"
"Get out of my tent, Martha Jones. Take your Doctor with you. I don't want to see either of you in here ever again."

Digital Stuff.
My steam powered stereo is predominantly analog. I have more than a few CDs and I audition new artists or recordings with Apple Music. But the serious side is pure analog.
Contrast that with another hobby of mine, photography. 100% digital that is. Is this ironic? I do not think so. Digital photography is self expression and documentation of my experience. Film cameras give you a product that depends on the type of film, the lab that develops it and many many technical fiddles that are far beyond my control.
Digital lets me adjust the image to match either what I saw or what I wanted to see in the image. I live on the west coast near the water so sunsets are a big part of my experience. I always adjust the color and intensity to fit my memory of the experience.
Tumblr media
Digital lets me do that so easily. Film is much harder and needs gobs of equipment and toxic chemicals. Oh and knowledge I do not have.
Being a nerd I also know that film is actually a non-linear not analog thing anyway. Those photons bang on the film grains until they go on or just stay off. Each color grain is a binary artifact. Resolution depends on the size of film grain as much as anything else. Digital sensors are rather linear with the bit numbers recording the intensity of color at the site. Nothing is pure.
OK all that is silly nerd talk. But it is illustrative. In my photos I can adjust things to the way I like. 100% esthetic values are involved. I like things just so.
In my stereo I am listening to someone else's efforts. I want as accurate a reflection of their work as I can manage. Yet the choice of equipment will adjust the results. I hope that my system is quite neutral. Comparing my CDs of albums to the LP of the same I find that they are really similar. Differences are subtle if they exist at all.
Some audio equipment will really change the sound. Some preamplifiers or amplifers will add sonic effects that make a track sound more vivid and alive. Others will add depth and qualities that simply are not there. When I loaded those microphonic vacuum tubes in my old ARC SP12 the sound was amazing. I heard textures and things I really liked, but like an acid trip it was not real. There were bad things too so out the buggers had to come.
My favorite whipping boy for nice distortion is the moving coil cartridge. They have a fundamental resonating character that can lay a wonderful but totally inaccurate effect over the music. Even reading between the lines of glowing golden ear reviews of such reveals they know it aint real, but they like it. Tribal knowledge and accepted wisdom prevail. But should not what comes out of your system be the intent of the artist?
I have a few phono cartridges that have a strong character. My Grado Green is "nice" and has incredible Bass, but has little depth in recordings I know is there. It sounds a bit dull, but all the instruments are there more or less as they should be. Its upper tier wood bodied brother has no such limits. Not house sound is it? Lighter construction of the pointy end and better damping as more money is spent. My squad of ATs have differences and I have a hard time putting my finger on them beyond knowing they are different. Something is missing or at least is missed here and there.
Tube amplifiers have similar effects. Vividness, space, and aliveness or whatever they call it at the time. But I cannot hear that tiny detail in the back. Masked by "aire."
I can't help but think of some of those videos where the color is boosted to unnatural levels. A singer with eyes glowing blue like Chernokov radiation does not reflect reality, but if that is the intent of the artist well then fine. But it is not the quality or settings of my video screen that should determine that. I calibrate my displays to reflect the best accuracy I can get from them.
Digital stuff is amazing it works as well as it does. Lots of hard work went into getting it there. Still for sound I like a simple clean LP spinning on my deck with a beautiful voice appearing to come out of the wall of my living room.

UAL2 - UNIT4: Digital Imaging and Printing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1.1…Identify the characteristics of digital imaging and printing Managing and organising your digital files is an essential addition to the skills in professional or amateur photography, whether for fine art or commercial images. Essentially, you upload your image files from the camera’s memory card via a USB cable to your computer.
Then you organise, edit and manage them for display in a digital format (e.g. websites, social media) or an analogue physical format (e.g. art exhibition or glossy print magazine).
Each digital image comprises a collection of pixels (picture cells). The number of pixels per image can determine the photo’s quality/resolution. The higher the resolution, especially at the ideal 300 dpi (dots per inch) or ppi (pixels per inch), the more detailed the image is and therefore enlargement is easier.
2.1…Produce digital images to achieve solutions to identified goals My images are stored on SanDisk memory cards, which can have a storage capacity as high as 1TB (1,000 GB). I currently us a 16GB SanDisk Extreme Pro for my Nikon D200 camera. SanDisk is a subsidiary of Western Digital, which is famous for its hard drives that store large archives of photographic images. Another recommended hard-drive brand is the Lacie.
When uploaded on to the computer, the original image files come labelled with prefixes in the form of letters or numbers or both, whether in the RAW or jpeg format. Once on the computer, the images can be renamed for easier identification when access is needed.
And depending on the themes, topics, and/or dates, they can be re-arranged in different computer folders. The image files can also be converted into the TIFF format (very high resolution) or PNG for digital display on websites.
2.2…Produce digital prints from digital imaging sources to achieve solutions to identified goals Access the files can for editing and improving in Adobe Lightroom or the Image section in Adobe Photoshop. When editing, it is advisable to use a duplicate of the original, so that the latter is retained for other uses in the future. Once the editing is completed, the images can be retrieved for digital use or be printed for a physical copy.
The images can be sent by email or delivered on a memory stick to specialist printers. Examples of these specialists include the Print Space in London, DS Colour Labs Ltd and the retail chain Snappy Snaps. Another brand known for its quality photo paper is Germany’s Hahnemuehle.
These specialists offer to print on photo paper made with different finishes, including matte, glossy, pearl, satin, lustre or metallic, depending on the photographers’ objectives, especially if they want to produce fine art.
Future consideration will be the use of giclee paper for original artwork on very large quality-print formats. I’ve also attended exhibitions where the large paper canvas is described as having a gelatin silver base or platine fibre rag. For my class project on printing, I chose my Unit 2 Passion project for guitars. I sent my 300dpi images in the jpeg formats to the prints. I selected a matte finish for my 6in x 8in colour images and their textured feel. I felt they looked more viewer friendly than prints with a glossy finish. I chose Snappy Snaps as the printer as the outlet was physically near me to ensure same-day delivery to meet the project’s deadline.
2.3…Assess digital images and prints I do have not colour calibrated my computer. But while my on-screen images appear to be a faithful replica of the ones on my camera, the printed images appeared slightly darker than they would on other computers. That, however, was ideal as my photos as I was seeking the chiaroscuro effect (see images above).
The contrast between the lit areas and black sections in the images were effective. I also experimented with printed versions of creatively overexposed images, where the image’s background effectively looked white. Depending on how the opacity is managed, they also worked in the print format.
3.1…Identify and use safe working practices
When sitting to manage and edit images on your desktop computer, the recommended healthy practices for protecting your eyes, neck and back are similar to those for any office work.
Your eyes must be at the same level as the desktop’s monitor to prevent neck ache. Your feet must be flat on the floor; your knees at the same height as your hips. This helps protect your spine, which should also be supported by a cushion for a straight back. Frequent breaks away from the computer, the recommended up to 10 minutes every hour, prevent a strain on the eyes and unnecessary headaches.
As in all indoor working environments, make sure there is ample natural light, fresh air and that your surroundings are uncluttered. This is good for both physical and mental health, especially when working under pressure to meet deadlines. It also means when third parties are invited to work with you in your working space, their safety is also assured.
