Iron Maiden // Can I Play With Madness
Can I play with madness? The prophet stared at his crystal ball Can I play with madness? There's no vision there at all Can I play with madness? The prophet looked at me and laughed at me, ha, he said: Can I play with madness? He said, "You're blind, too blind to see"

Playing with Fire
Fandom: Stranger Things
Characters: Eddie Munson, reader
Pairings: none, just friends here with a capital P
Word Count:
Reader’s Gender: Any
Type: One Shot, drabble, stupid fight over stupid things.
Warning: None. Friendly teasing. I don’t even think there’s any swearing in here!!
Author’s note: thank you @tayhar811 for the beta and assurance I got Eddie right.
Summary: You misstep and the always knowing Eddie gives you a hard time about it.
Ask Box: Open
Masterlist
Eddie, giggling, reaches over and turns off the music. “What did you just sing, babe?”
Normally you would have been embarrassed by your friend teasing you.  But this was one of your all time favorite songs.  At least for now until another song that caught your ear’s fancy.  “The lyrics!” you insist, looking at the adorable long haired man in the driver's seat of his van.
“Nah, nah, you didn’t. That’s not how the song goes!” he assures you.
You huff. “Dude it so is! Just listen.” You reached to turn the tape deck back on, hitting it into reverse for a second and then singing along with Bruce.
‘Can I play with matches?
He said you're blind, too blind to see
Said you're too blind to see...’
Eddie is giggling so hard now that he pulls the van over to the side of the deserted street. Throwing it into park, he just leans his shoulder against the driver’s side window, crossing his arm over his chest as his other elbow rests on his wrist, his hand cupping his face. His eyes on you, he is doing a piss poor job of hiding his glee as you continue to sing. His eyes squint with adoration and humor as you finish your mini concert from the passenger's chair.
Hitting stop at the end of the song, Eddie begins to applaud you, his hands clapping at a slow mocking rate. “Bravo,” he mumbles before reaching for the tape case discarded somewhere on the floor. Takes him a mumbling minute before he retrieves it and pulls out the insert, unfolding the length of paper stock that held the credits, lyrics and kick ass pictures of the band. Holding it out to you with one hand, he points to a title with his other. “Doll, I know you can read, I’ve cheated off of you enough to know you can. What’s that say?”
Your stomach drops a little as you read the title of the song. “No.....” you whisper. “That can’t be right.”
“‘Fraid it is,” he insists, his face still filled with such glee. “But for me, forever now, this will be Can I play with Matches!”
“I fucking hate you,” you grumble, staring at the lyrics to Can I play with Madness as Eddie pulls back onto the road.
Author’s Note continued: Based on the fact that once upon a time I thought Madness was “Matches” in the song Can I play with Madness by Iron Maiden. I recognize that this song came out 2 years after the finale of the most recent season of Stranger things so *cough* no spoilers, this couldn’t have happened but that didn’t stop Eddie from stopping by on my ride home from work when this came on the radio.

Iron Maiden - Can I Play with Madness (live)
Posting live versions of songs I will be playing at an upcoming show with my group music lesson. This is song 1 of 12.
Full disclosure: I can't play bass like Steve Harris. Not even close.
