Cadillac straight up gave us a CaoXiang reincarnation coffeeshop AU with their latest Qixi ad! There were so many easter eggs in this – the red string bracelets, the "I want to treat you to a meal" line, and the fact that his dessert shop is named Four Seasons!

There’s even a reference to WenZhou with the couple in the red and blue hanfu.

And remember in EP31 when Cao Weining suggested that they elope? They did get their little dessert shop in the end :’)

Note: The Qixi Festival (also called Qiqiao Festival) on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month celebrates the annual reunion of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl in Chinese mythology, and how their love moved the heavens so much that the magpies formed a bridge over the Milky Way for them to meet.

ENG SUB - 《山河令》 Ep36 original dialogue

Zhou Zishu’s reactions make more sense with Wen Kexing’s original lines and in the original, Chengling explains how Liuhe Xinfa works when both practitioners love each other wholeheartedly.

This also explains why Ye Baiyi and Rong Changqing did not manage to both survive the process of practicing Liuhe Xinfa; they were zhiji, but they did not love each other the same way since Ye Baiyi’s romantic feelings for his zhiji were not reciprocated, and eventually Rong Changqing must have qi deviated. (Huang Youming, who plays YBY, has stated in his livechat that YBY and RCQ were his CP.)

[Minor quibble: at the end of the clip Chengling’s disciple clearly says 他俩活了？ (the two of them survived) rather than 他们活了？ (they survived) in the fandub, but it doesn’t change the essential meaning of the sentence.]

My version of the English subtitles for the epilogue/easter egg of 《山河令》 because the youtube subtitles were giving me hives lol.

Notice that Deng Kuan’s son is practicing Wen Kexing’s family’s sword technique, Qiuming Eighteen Forms, so Wen Kexing probably taught Chengling (and maybe the other 18 disciples of Siji Manor) eventually, for it to be passed down.

And of course, Wen Kexing is quoting Sunzi’s Art of War to argue with his A-Xu haha.

There’s also a comparison vid floating out there somewhere showing how this final sparring session between Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu is actually a mirror of the first time they sparred over the lake in ep6, except that Zhou Zishu is using Wen Kexing’s moves against him.
