In the aftermath, I'll hold you
in the aftermath of Emma taking on the darkness, Killian is the only one to comfort Henry.
Aka, these two just want their family back together
+ a little post s5 finale comfort to finish it off
Read on ao3 || Read below the line:
"What do you mean she's gone?" Henry grit his teeth, eyes darting across the adults standing in a circle around him.
He was told to go back to the apartment. That they would sort everything out and be home for hot cocoa.
The group did come home, his mum noticeably missing, everyone's heads hung low. Everyone avoided looking him in the eyes, even Hook. Eventually, his other mother had explained what happened.
"Henry..." his grandmother pleaded, reaching for his hand. Henry flinched, taking a step away from her.
"Answer me! What do you mean she's gone!"
"We told you, Henry, the darkness took her," his mother repeated her earlier words.
"Took her where!?" he snapped at her, eyes blown wide with tears stinging at the corners.
A moment of silence fell upon the apartment as everyone, once again, averted their eyes from Henry.
"Why won't no one tell me what happened to my mum?" he choked out, turning to Killian. The man was standing slightly behind Henry, off to David's side. His hook was dropped to the side, arm holding loosely to his belt. He lifted his head and looked at Henry. Brown locked with blue, and Henry saw his emotions reflected on Killian's face - fear, trepidation, agony.
Regina walked towards him, extending her arms out, to hug or otherwise hold him, but Henry slapped them away and cried out at her.
"Don't touch me right now!"
"Henry! Do not talk to your mother like that!" David cut in, fist slamming on the counter. Everyone in the room jumped, and Henry choked up a sob.
"Aye! Stop it, everyone!" Killian laid his hand on the prince's shoulder, trying to ease the storm currently brewing in the room. "We're all stressed and yelling won't help anyone." He turned to Henry, eyes weighed with unshed tears. He took a step towards Henry and the boy didn't move back.
"Lad, your mother took on the darkness, and it engulfed her. When the smoke subsided, she was gone, and all that was left was the dagger with her name on it. That's all we know."
Henry sniffled.
"Have you tried using the dagger to call her?" he asked, ashamed that he even thought of controlling his mother like that.
"Hook tried. She's not in this realm, as it didn't work." Regina stated. A muscle in Henry's jaw clenched.
"So he's the only one that even tried looking for her?"
"Henry!" his grandmother jumped, clearly offended at his statement.
"Don't Henry me! You should be out there looking for her! She's probably scared and alone, but none of you care!"
Mary Margaret glanced over at Regina, but said nothing.
"You never cared about her! You sent her away and I had to find her! When Pan's curse separated us, you didn't come looking, you went about your lives as if we didn't exist. It was Hook who came for us, and it wasn't even you who sent him!"
"I don't think Hook is a role-model for good behaviour." David sneered, shaking the pirate's hand off of his shoulder. Henry grit his teeth at the statement.
"At least he cares about her. You named your second kid after the man that hurt her! Do you even know what he did to her? And now she has to hear his name every day?"
His chest was heaving, angry tears rolling down his cheeks. He took a deep breath to steady himself.
"You never cared. She keeps breaking her back to help everyone else, but no one has ever tried to help her. She was left alone."
Regina shot him a glare. "Need I remind you that she left you as well?"
"She was a kid! Did you forget she was almost my age when she had me? She didn't have her mother there for comfort." Henry sniffed again, the words burning his throat. "And now neither do I."
He turned and buried himself in Hook's arms, head pressed into his chest as he let the sobs break from his own.
"Henry Daniel Mills!" Regina moved towards the two of them, brows furrowed in rage, but Hook shook his head and extended his namesake to stop her.
He turned him and Henry around, his back to the rest of the group. His arms came around the boy, hand stroking his soft brown hair. He held him for several long moments, until Henry's breathing evened out and his shaking sobs subsided. His arms were still gripping tightly to the lapels of Hook's jacket. Hook kissed the top of his head and whispered slowly.
"I know you miss your mother. I do too. But we won't do her any good if we run around town until we drop from exhaustion. We need rest," he tipped the lad's head up with his hook, "you need rest. We can make a plan in the morning and set right on finding her. Alright?"
Henry nodded, sighed, and rested his head back against his chest.
After a few more moments of silence, Regina spoke again.
"Well. The pirate's right with one thing, we should go to sleep now." She picked up her coat from the rack and looked over at Henry. "Coming?"
He shook his head. "I'm staying here."
Regina whispered "Suit yourself," and bid the others goodnight before leaving with Robin.
Henry stayed in Hook's arms for a little while longer, holding onto him as the rest of the world fell apart around him. His head was spinning, his legs and arms felt heavy, and there was a growing pit in his stomach. Eventually, Hook took a step back, arm and hook braced on Henry's shoulders.
"Let's get you to bed, lad. You're tired."
Henry just nodded, not wanting to fight back, and made his way upstairs. He changed into his pyjamas and crawled into the twin bed that was shoved into the corner of the room. He knew he wouldn't get much sleep, as tired as he was. He heard hushed whispers coming from below, but could only make out a few words.
"Let the boy be," Hook said, "he just lost his mother."
"That doesn't give him the right to speak to us like that." David pushed back, annoyance clear in his voice.
A moment passed.
"He was right, you know. About everything." Mary Margaret finally joined in. "Emma was alone all her life. We never made an effort to make up for that, we thought it was clear we were sorry, but now I know she needed more from us."
They continued their conversation, but Henry couldn't make out anything coherent past that. Eventually, someone stood up and made their way to the front door.
"I best be on my way," Hook said, "it's getting rather late."
"You should stay. Emma wouldn't want you alone on your ship"
Another moment of silence passed. Henry heard movement down stairs, and soon Hook was making his way up the stairs.
"Lad?" he whispered out once he reached the landing.
"I'm awake."
Hook sighed, and made his way to the main bed. He didn't say anything else, but Henry could tell he wasn't asleep. His breathing was too quick and shallow, uneven at times.
Hook taught him how to tell the difference between awake and asleep breathing. "Useful for checking if an enemy is open to a sneak attack," he'd said.
Henry stood and made his way to the corner of his mum's bed.
"Killian?" he called. Killian turned his head, eyebrow quirked up. Henry shuffled his feet. "Can I sleep with you tonight? While in New York, whenever I was upset, she'd let me cuddle with her."
Killian said nothing, simply pulled back the comforter and patted the bed next to him. Henry crawled in, laying face to face with him. They stayed like that for some time, neither speaking.
He liked Killian. He liked how relaxed he was around him, and often it seemed he was the only one that didn't baby Henry. And he tried to build a relationship with him, even outside his relationship with his mum. Killian was fun, he made his mum happy and he was always kind to Henry. The trio's weekly lunches at Granny's were one of the things Henry looked forward to the most. It felt right, the three of them together.
Henry didn't understand why everyone was so dismissive of Killian all the time. Yes, he'd done some bad things, but so did his other mother? And everyone seemed to forgive her easily. He was trying, but no-one except Emma ever supported him.
"We'll find her," Killian said eventually, "I promise you, lad.
Henry shifted, closer to Killian. He rolled onto his back and Henry set his head on his chest, knees tucked up to his chest. Killian's arm came around Henry, resting on the back of his head.
"I know, I know, I'm just..." Henry took a breath to steady himself. "I'm sorry about earlier, a lot of what I said was uncalled for."
"It's okay, lad. It's a stressful situation. I don't think anyone will hold it over you," Killian comforted.
"Thank you for being here. I know you and I can find her. We found her once already, in the alternate storybook. We can do it again."
"Aye. The three of us make quite the team, you know." He threaded his fingers through Henry's hair, in the same soothing motion his mother often used.
"Like a real family does." Henry couldn't see Killian's face, but he knew that the word had prompted a wide smile on it. Family. The three of them, together, against the world. He wasn't opposed to Killian being his step-dad. He's been acting like one already, picking him up from school when neither of his mums could, helping with homework, taking care of him. Henry has never had a father figure before, and Killian was as close as he'd ever get.
"Henry?" he whispered after a while. Henry hummed in response.
"I've been thinking. Well, your mother and I had been talking. We want to find a place for us." He looked down at Henry. "All three of us."
"Like an apartment?"
"Like a house. Maybe we could... Maybe we could find one she'd like? So we can surprise her when this mess is sorted?"
Henry propped himself up on his elbows. His face lit up. "Yes! It could be an operation!" He thought about a name for a moment. "Operation: Light Swan?"
Killian chuckled. "Sounds perfect."
They laid back down, snuggled more closely together now. They listed the features they would look for in their future home. It had to be near the ocean, have a big yard, and an open floor plan.
"How many bedrooms?" Killian's cheek and ear tips burned at the question.
"We, uh. Your mother and I never discussed that topic."
"I'm sure she'd be open to the idea."
"Aye?"
"Mhm. I can see how she looks at you when you're around me or baby Neal."
Killian smiled at that. "Well I'm sure that a few extra bedrooms wouldn't hurt."
The conversation continued, the excitement over the future easing the pain they both felt. Henry soon felt his eyelids drop, the drum of Killian's heart a low, steady rhythm under his ear. He was stroking his shoulder, drawing nonsense shapes into it with his fingers. Henry drifted off to sleep in Killian's arms, certain that the two of them would take the Darkness out of Emma.
And then they could finally be a family.
ccccccccc
"It's rather late," Emma yawned out, "we should go to bed.
They were sitting on the couch, all next to one another. The couch had more than enough room for them to sprawl out, but they all snuggled into the corner, Emma's back to Killian's chest, arms wrapped around Henry.
They came home from Granny's hours ago, having bid goodbye to the rest of the group. There was so much to be said between them, so much had happened, and none of them wanted to move on without addressing it properly.
Emma's Darkness. What she did to Henry and Killian. Why she pushed them away. Killian's Darkness. The betrayal he felt when no one believed he could fight it. His sacrifice. The race to get him back. The heartbreak Emma and Henry felt when he couldn't come with them. Henry's trip to New York and why he wanted to destroy magic.
They talked for hours, breaking down each and every wall that was still standing between them. Lots of emotions followed with tears, apologies, and hugs.
Henry stretched out, yawning. "Uh-huh. I'm sleepy."
They made their way upstairs, staying close together. They were reluctant to take their eyes off of each other, after being separated so many times already.
The master bedroom was the first bedroom to the left of the stair landing, and Henry's was across the hallway. He stopped, halfway in between the two bedroom doors, and turned to his mum and Killian.
"Hey," he said before they could even open the door. "Can I, can I sleep with you two?"
The two adults shared a confused look between them.
"I know, I'm 13 now, and I should sleep on my own, but..." he shook his head as memories of the past couple of months came flooding back once again. "Mum, I almost lost you to the darkness. And we just barely managed to drag Killian back from the dead. Surely I should be allowed to be a little clingy?"
Emma smiled at him. "After what we've been through, we're allowed to be as clingy as we want to be."
They went about their regular sleep time routine. Changing into pyjamas, brushing their teeth, the usual. Emma went to fetch an extra pillow for Henry, and Killian fiddled nervously with the brace in his arm.
"You can take it off. I don't mind." Henry had never actually seen Killian's scar, and a part of him was curious as to what it looked like. The one time they shared a bed before, after mum was taken, it was dark and Killian had kept the arm tucked under the pillow. He didn't see Killian any differently because of it - the teenager in him saw the hook as completely badass - but he knew that was a sensitive topic for him, so he never pressed him on it.
Killian looked at him, and his features softened. He undid the straps keeping the brace tight, and slid it off of his forearm.
Henry didn't stare much, not wanting to make Killian uncomfortable. The scar was mostly faded, and apart from it, his lower arm was devoid of any other distinguishing markings, including tattoos. A stark contrast compared to the rest of his body. Henry wanted to ask about the tattoos and the scars, the stories behind them, what they meant, and how he got them. Another time, he thought, there's no rush now.
Emma came back with the pillow, and the three of them climbed into bed. Killian was on the right side of the bed, leaning partially on his side. Henry cuddled into him, head tucked into the crook of his neck. Emma threw her arm around him, pulling herself close. Killian's scarred arm was wound beneath the two of them, the fingers of his other arm tangled with Emma's.
"Everyone comfy?" she asked.
"What if I told you I need to relieve myself, love?" Killian teased.
"Then I would send you right back to Hell."
"Underworld, technically." Henry and Killian corrected in unison, and the three of them burst out laughing.
This is good. This is how it was always meant to be. The three of them, together, happy, with their whole future in front of them. Henry sighed.
"You good, kiddo?"
"I'm happy."
Sleep took them swiftly, the last few weeks (months, really) having left their bodies desperate for rest.
Nothing would separate the Saviour, her pirate, and their son ever again.

disappointed in the fact that we as a society do not talk enough about the fact that: 1. killian was included in henry’s call for help from his mothers and 2. that the portal opens and killian comes rushing out and defeats the knights in the room while regina just stands back. like girlie’s got magic, she could’ve done it quicker and easier but killian’s front and center with a single track focus on rescuing henry that he’s out here disposing of them so fast the old-fashioned way so he can save his stepson. m’boy.
don’t mind me, i just love one (1) father.

Omg that post about Mav blowing a kiss to the Icemav pic and then passing the tradition along to the Daggers - what happens when they find out Icemav are married?? What does Ice think of the tradition? 💜💜💜
God I love talking about IceMav being the whole Dagger Squad's gay dads
I actually think the relationship they find out about first is Ice and Rooster's? Like Ice is busy in recovery and doing as much Navy stuff as his doctors will let him do but as soon as he hears about the Cobra manoeuvre and he realises that this isn't going well and he needs to pay a visit to the base. So Bradley is doing his pushups, and suddenly its not Hondo counting them, it's his Uncle Tom. And he jumps up to hug him and they spend hours sitting cross legged on the tarmac talking about how he's feeling. Which leads to the first question from the Dagger Squad of 'why is Rooster resting his head on the shoulder of the Commander of the Pacific Fleet?'
And after that there's more questions like 'Okay, why is Admiral Kazansky here now?' and 'why do he and Captain Maverick drive in together?' and 'did Admiral Kazansky cough and say 'bullshit' while Captain Maverick was telling a story from his Top Gun days?' and then '....oh shit did we throw the admiral's husband out of the bar?'
Once they're over the shock and they realise Admiral Kazansky is just this kind of awkward, strangely funny guy and Rooster introduces them all to him and he's really nice, they're just all very ready to be informally adopted by their dogfight dads.
As for the tradition, Ice always rolls his eyes and tells Maverick he can just come up one flight of stairs and kiss the real thing? Maverick says its his fault for looking so hot in his official portraits

disney descendants - but add TATTOOS
the Docks house the majority of the tattoo trade on the Isle, so the Sea Three grow up treating tattoos more casually while they've got more of a rebellious vibe for VKs living inland, like the Core Four.
to the VKs on the docks, tattoos most often serve as a show of ownership or as self expression.
for the Core Four and AKs, I imagine it's more common to see tattoos as individual pieces of art.
there's a lot of blurring that line, but seeing tattoos as self expression vs art can carry a lot into both how a person perceives tattoos in general and how they tend to design and place their tattoos.
Jay shows up at the Dragon's Den one day with a large, traditional, fully shaded, badass cobra curling around his bicep.
Evie and Carlos are fascinated but also a bit uncomfortable.
Mal immediately feels challenged, artistically, and starts designing a badass dragon design that she wants to get on her back someday.
Evie and Carlos don't get tattoos until years later, when they're in Auradon and comfortable in their own skin and are able to go to a nice, clean, entirely above-the-board tattoo studio.
Evie gets a little crown on her ankle.
Carlos ends up getting a number of random, small designs over time. Jane's name, a silhouette of Dude, the date that he last saw his mother (the date from when he's been free).
Evie gets a second tattoo eventually, on a dare, and gets a small ruler design on her wrist that's perfect for helping measure hems and edges for her projects.
Mal waits until getting settled in Auradon, too - first because she doesn't trust the skill of the tattoo artists on the Isle to do it "right," and then because she doesn't think her tattoo would be viewed as appropriate for the future Queen of Auradon.
once everything has settled out post-D3, though, and she's confident in her skin she brings it up with Ben (because having the Sea Three around is making her remember how much she really wants to get a tattoo, not that she'd ever admit to that).
Ben totally supports her and she gets a fantastical dragon across her back, painstakingly done by one of the finest artisans in Auradon.
Harry started tattooing himself when he was a kid, messing around with stick-and-poke techniques he saw the older kids using.
they didn't have great ink and stick-and-pokes usually fade pretty fast anyway, even faster when you're constantly in the sun, so he had a lot of fun with the canvas of his hands, arms, and thighs and did a lot of experimentation.
once he and Gil got closer, Harry did a lot of small designs on Gil when he was bored.
Uma got the first real tattoo of all of them.
she showed up at one of the tattoo shops dragging a bag full of tips and left several sessions later with a full sleeve of ocean waves crashing against a ship that was surrounded by tentacles.
she was pleased by how the artist had gotten it to look like the tentacles could either be pulling the ship to its doom or just giving it a hug.
Harry absolutely loved it and began going to get himself a new tattoo every time he scraped together enough tips and stolen coins.
a compass on the back of his hand; a dagger down his thigh; constellations dotting his arms; a menagerie growing one by one of seahorses and sharks and gulls.
he gets a traditional pinup on his hip; a grand, proper pirate's ship on one knee and a kraken mirroring its style on the other; he has multiplication tables and other memorization tricks done on the inside of his wrists to help him on tests.
months after his first (and only) hesitant, respectful request, Uma lets him get her name tattooed as a tramp stamp.
she goes with him and directs the artist and he ends up with her name surrounded by tentacles; they're strategically positioned to curl around the letters but also draw the eye to where they disappear beneath his waistband.
Uma didn't get tattoos as often but they were always grand and befitting her rank as Captain.
she adhered religiously to her colors and aesthetic, creating a map of black, turquoise, cyan, and purple whirls and lines that made her look ever inch the magical being she should be.
Uma complemented the heavy linework with little skulls and bones, sea creatures, and rolling waves.
I've seen some people say that "Wharf Rats" is just an insult Carlos called the crew, but I like the headcanon that it's the actual name of Uma's crew and that everyone who joined up was required to get a tattoo as a promise of loyalty.
Harry totally designed it himself.
Uma and Harry have the largest versions of it, so they added some extra detail and flare to theirs. Uma's on her chest and Harry's across his upper back.
most of the crew have theirs on a bicep but Gil got his on the back of his neck.
Gil didn't get any ink until he came back to the Docks and joined the crew.
once he was back, though, he tagged along and got something done every time Uma or Harry went.
he liked to get Harry to help him come up with ideas for designs that would draw attention to his arms and muscles.
Gil got lots of flowers and plants and birds on his arms, eventually tying the designs together into full sleeves.
Uma and Harry would roll their eyes but loved how badass Gil could manage to make a bunch of flowers.
colored tattoos were far less common than black linework and shading because it was much harder to come by substantial quantities of colorful ink on the Isle.
having his flowers colored made Gil's sleeves pop out and draw attention even more.
he got roaring waves and sharks and sea monsters on his back, pulling up into his Wharf Rats tattoo, with everything perfectly designed to flatter the flex of his shoulders and back.
on his trip around Auradon with Jay, Gil had a lot of fun getting a new tattoo in each kingdom, coloring in his chest with new kinds of flowers and filling up his legs with a variety of designs that reminded him of his favorite stops.
once she escaped the barrier and was restored access to her magic and heritage, Uma learned that her she could make her tattoos glow and reflect her natural magic.
she waited a long time for the day when she, Harry, and Gil were all free from the Isle and she was able to casually take her shirt off and enjoy Harry tripping on his feet and falling on his face at how extra stunning her tattoos were now.
Harry took advantage of the better resources for tattoos in Auradon and had his tattoos relined, as a lot of them were beginning to fade.
he had red lines and shading worked into the designs to give them an extra bit of pop, cohesiveness, and general Hook aesthetic.
for AKs, the most common tattoos were small and easy to hide, like significant others' names, important dates, and little minimalist designs.
Harry won a dare once and coerced Jay and several of Jay's tourney friends into going and getting larger, more artistic designs, though.
to Harry's surprise (and Uma and Gil's delight), some of Harry's first AK friends ended up being heirs from kingdoms like Matinui and DunBroch, with whom he bonded over tattoos after they approached him with admiration for his ink and for his opinions on design.
kingdom pride and fairytale tattoos are definitely a thing. an artist would have a lookbook with glass slippers and well known castles and glass covered roses.
just. TATTOOS guys.

Heyyy how are you? I missed your Yandere Terry One Shots so much! I love them! What if it was Terry from Cobra Kai who became obsessed with a girl much younger than him? Maybe a friend of Tory who, however, does not practice martial arts and who usually comes to Cobra Kai only to wait for her friend at the end of the lessons. What would Yandere Terry do if one day he saw the poor girl enter all alone inside the dojo to wait for tory but inside the cobra kai there is no one but Terry? Would he take advantage of the situation?
(I like Yandere / Dark NSFW, so feel free to include it if you want.)
---
Ms. Nichols has a friend, turns out.
Living in the same rented accommodations, door to door, occasionally lending the help of an adult to a distressed, problematic family of three which included an ailing mother, an underage sibling and not counting a crackhead aunt. Some odd several years older, nearly a decade. Present every day like a loyal hen, in the afternoon, upon classes being concluded, waiting for what he can only deem a ward by definition to emerge from inside of his newly renovated gymnasium. The camera catches her, out front, like she doesn't dare enter, with good reason, seeing as how the members of his Fist or Sensei Kim might just turn her away for just standing around, aimlessly. The dojo wasn't a pedestrian area for idle socialization or loitering. The dojo was hallowed ground. A temple. But, regardless, Terry watches her having done his due diligent research with a folder on her on his work desk, making the whereabouts of Ms. Nichols and who she interacts with in the outside world his personal business, observing it all through the screens of his security area, blinking neon, turned towards the street and colossal, freshly expanded parking lot; and as upon cue, this person's always there. Sometimes carrying groceries. Sometimes lunch. A plastic bag she attempts to hand Ms. Nichols who's always initially too proud to accept it (No wonder Captain found a favourite in this one). She always does accept though, in the end, stubbornly hiding a limp she might've earned in the classes for not doing as she was told.
He curiously eyes the petty exchanges. The small acts of charity.
Sitting in his office and making a habit of it.
Produce in a bag, cold water bottles for the champion.
Small-talk as they walk down the street, Ms. Nichols trying not be charmed.
Biting into a sandwich that's given to her by a friend bordering surrogate mother.
Ms. Nichols having someone who notices her red, angry scars and bruises.
It happens again tomorrow, and the day after, and after and all week.
Terry doesn't know what he feels as he observes this person hug Tory. Laugh outside the dojo. Wave at her when she spots her approaching. The aura of warmth is clearly there, even on the bad days, when Ms. Nichols walks outside with a scowl, brushing past her confidante, wishing to be left alone after what happened during the lessons. There's some sort of connection here. He confesses he'd prefer if Ms. Nichols was all alone. If she was all alone, things would be infinitely easier. Divide and conquer. If her allegiances were all Cobra Kai's, in effect shared with nobody, not even vaguely. And then there was the tactical disadvantage that if Ms. Nichols had a friend, she might just tell someone things she wasn't supposed to tell. But, no. No, no. That wasn't all there was to it. Terry irrationally and against all better judgment feels a deep, rooted clench in his gut, observing the routinely, dare he say, devotion, of someone waiting for someone else daily, gaining nothing out of it, but the act of familial and platonic care? Charity. Compassion. Protectiveness. Fuck. He imagines himself going out there and limping pathetically too, pretending to be some senile nobody, trying to harvest whatever it was he was looking at through his CCTV camera. I'm just an old man, he'd broadcast, entwine your arm in mine and help me down the block and Tory's little confidante would do it, gently cooing to check if he's okay and if she should call somebody. The thought makes the blood shoot into his head --- and lower still. Was he far gone? Was he so far gone he was fantasizing over two people showing each other care out on the streets? He needed to get a hold of himself, stat.
Terry comes to a decision, though. One he enacts the very next day.
-"Ms. Nichols, a word ---"-
He discreetly coaxes her to the side on the training mat for a one on one chat, away from the other students doing stretches, preparing to pack up gear and leave.
-"Your little friend,"- He caresses those words, savouring them in his mouth and instantaneously catching the mask of tension on Tory's face, manifested in the form of anxiety. Afraid for her companion, was she? Thinking she'll get punished for it somehow? Interesting. -"the one chaperoning you around every day ---"- Terry prolongs the agony, intentionally dragging out his point purely to catch the cues on the girl's face. Anxiety bleeds into nervousness and cold sweat dripping down Ms. Nichols forehead is noticeable. She cared for her friend, didn't she? Sweet. -"She's allowed to come inside and wait in the dojo. Get away from the heat. We're not savages."- Terry gives Tory his most pious, saintly, well rehearsed smile of kindness and her shoulders instantaneously drop, alongside the invisible weight that seemed to burden her stance down, only to to be replaced by stiffness. Ms. Nichols wasn't sure if she wanted her friend inside of her, by the looks of it. -"No, I ---"- She fidgets, crossing glances between himself and Master Kim who speculatively stands on the side, arms crossed, but Terry doesn't relent. -"Sensei's orders. We've a sense of propriety and policy at Cobra Kai towards relatives and caretakers."- Terry doesn't budge, making his tone as gentle as humanly possible as he leans his shoulders forward, trying to appear smaller, realizing the friend was neither a relative nor a caretaker, but supposing he was appealing to emotions. He confesses he wanted this friend in his midst. On his territory. His turf. He wanted them closer to scope them out. See that kindness up close and personal. Catch a whiff of it. Observe it and enjoy it and imagine himself in it.
-"Yes, of course, Sensei."- Is all Tory Nichols says when she realizes she's no choice. -"Master Kim."- bowing to both of them, their student makes herself scarce and rushes down the hallway into the locker room like the devil himself was chasing her.
He was just trying to be good and helpful. Anything wrong with that?
---
Friday, the friend makes it into the dojo, waiting for one Tory Nichols, as planned.
Now, Terry was never above setting an elaborate trap for someone, in fact, it was his favourite method of confronting and cornering people, in this case, having his Sensei take out the students to train on terrain and purposefully clear out the gymnasium impromptu, unexpectedly, against all scheduling, so much so that not even the cunning little Ms. Nichols would know it was happening so she could forewarn her friend Hey, don't wait for me today. We'll be doing Kata outdoors. See you around. No, no, instead the woman is right where Terry wants her, looking around the front lobby hall entrance a bit baffled and finding it starkly empty and as quiet as the grave, the light emanating from outside mingling with the sharp neons of the foyer, purples and reds darkening the winding corridors --- carrying a plastic grocery bag tucked into a purse to hide it. Gotcha. -"Here for the adult classes?"- Terry sizes her up and intentionally takes a detour and stands behind her to address her and a shiver of excitement slithers down his spine when she nearly jumps, not expecting anyone to be present as she was turning to leave. -"Oh, goodness!"- Her hand is on her chest as she squeamishly steps backwards, her tone high pitched, her fear oddly delectable and amusing. -"Goodness, sorry! I didn't see you there!"- She stutters and re-iterates, trying to catch her composure and all Terry can do is smile. -"I'm just here to pick someone up. Am I late? I couldn't possibly be!"- She looks around, confused, pulling her phone out of her pocket to look at the time. Funny how Terry already had his private detectives acquire her number. -"You're early, in fact."- Terry explains, bemused, but not unkind. Didn't want to scare this one off too terribly fast. -"Master Kim Da-Eun escorted the children out today for a class."-
Children. That was a riot.
-"I see."- Ms. Nichol's friend trails off, fidgety, unsure of herself.
Was she nervous of her surroundings? What did Tory tell her about Cobra Kai?
And also, why did he enjoy her anxiety?
-"Am I allowed to know when they'll be back?"-
-"They'll be back when they learn their lesson."-
That response admittedly comes off sounding a bit more ominous than Terry intended so he quickly reclaims his balance and goes for bombarding this one with an over-inflation of acceptance, once he reaches his hand out to her and cajoles her deeper into the dojo, weaving his web, sensing she was about to excuse herself and leave. Drinks? Drinks. -"Waiting on which student again?"- Terry pretends not to know everything about everybody, going for innocence. -"Tor..."- She begins and he interrupts her, feigning surprise and enthusiasm. Truth of the matter is, he cared very little for Tory, outside of Tory keeping her tongue in check and doing what she was told --- she was simply a good segway for him to break the ice and make it seem natural and paternal. -"Ah, yes! Tory Nichols! Our very own champion!"- He exclaims, throwing his head back. -"Tell you what! We can wait on her together I'm all alone here for the afternoon anyway."- Terry turns to face her and halts, interlocking his arms with her and she lets him or perhaps, the contact happens too suddenly for her to properly even register it. He beams, full mega-watt smile, dragging his feet a bit, deliberately, going for frailty as they halt outside of his office, clean of anything that could compromise him for the purposes of this pre-planned visit. -"And I'm just an old man, I appreciate the company."- He adds, hunching his back a little and suddenly, her hesitation turns into concern. There it was! Right there! All kindness and sweetness and consideration. -"I wouldn't want to intrude, sir."- She says, apologetically and ever so preciously and Terry shoots that bullshit down immediately, pulling the card of humbleness out of his sleeve and setting it down on the table.
Call me sir again, his heart demands.
-"If anything, I'm intruding on you. I should've had someone contact you or her mother with the student's updated learning schedule. You can wait inside every day, if you want to. In fact, I encourage it. The heatwave surpasses memory."- Making surprisingly enjoyable idle small-talk as a precursor for more, Terry guides her into his study and closes the door shut behind him dressed in his Gi, remarking on the AC system that was installed maintaining the temperatures cool and properly controlled --- the invisible web tightens, spinning and expanding around the fly distracted by words. Nothing was ever for free, and really, come to think of it, the least Ms. Nichols, ungrateful as she was for his aid in the tournament's outcome, could give him in return of the trophy he procured for her by bribing the referee was her friend and all the mellow sweetness that seemed to drip off of her like honey as he led her to sit down opposite of him across his work desk, offering her a cool lemonade, choosing the most inoffensively safe beverage possible for his his little buzzing fly.
He would have her whole and she would be kind to him as well, and only to him.

The Waves That Lap The Shore - Chapter 29 - Stumbleine
Notes:
hi everyone. It’s angst time >:3 I hope y’all like this one- i can’t believe I only have one chapter of fic left after this, which is the epilogue. I hope I did decent job at wrapping some things up in this one, like the whole Edda thing. Um anyway, I hope yall enjoy:) this one was fun to write!
It was a warm morning, Paani laid in bed staring at the ceiling.
He had to get ready for him and Kwazii’s date out in the desert soon.
Shellington and Peso were going with them, they were going to be hanging around in the oasis and Dashi and Tweak were going to have a meal together at Dashi’s childhood home.
Kwazii and Paani held hands as they walked through the sand, Paani was wearing a very old looking white suit, it was probably around 30 years old, Kwazii was wearing a suit that he had repaired with Dashi’s help. It used to have holes in it and broken buttons, but now it had different patches of fabric and golden colored buttons.
Shellington and Peso were chilling in the oasis, Shellington was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and his lab coat, he also had on some khaki shorts. He looked like Adam Sandler. Peso was wearing his medic coat and a light blue button up shirt and some blue denim shorts.
As Kwazii and Paani walked, something caught Kwazii’s eye.
A snake slivered across the sand, it had a sandy  colored body with blackish brown markings.
“Oh look a snake!” Kwazii beamed.
“Kwazii that’s a cobra.” Paani said.
“Just ‘cause it’s a cobra doesn’t mean I can’t befriend it.” Kwazii insisted.
“Kwazii. Cobra’s are very venomous snakes. You shouldn’t fuck around with them.” Paani lectured.
Kwazii got closer “Ahoy snakey!” He greeted, letting the cobra inspect his paw.
The cobra bit Kwazii, Paani let out a gasp horror.
“PESO!” Paani shouted desperately, Peso came running with a towel draped over its shoulders, rushing over to Kwazii.
“What happened?” It asked “Kwazii was bitten by a snake.” Paani croaked, on the verge of tears.
“I texted Dashi, she said she’d be here in the Octo Ray soon. I’ll do what I can for now.” He assured, whipping out his medical bag, he began to take care of Kwazii to the best of his ability.
This is all your fault. All your fault. Paani told themself, trying to hold back their tears
•••
Dashi and Tweak sat on the couch, Dashi’s older brother Joshi was watching a movie in the other room, and Koshi was reading in her bedroom.
Dashi’s Octo-Watch dinged Peso had sent them a message.
Hey Dashi. Please get here soon in the Octo Ray. It’s an emergency. Kwazii was bitten by a cobra.
Dashi gasped “Hey Tweak, we gotta go, something bad happened to Kwazii!” Dashi panicked “oh- oh god. What did he do this time?” Tweak questioned.
“They were bitten by a cobra.” Dashi frowned, her and Tweak then left after saying goodbye to Dashi’s family.
Dashi flew the Octo Ray as fast as it could go.
•••
“Dashi! Oh thank goodness you’re here!” Peso exclaimed “can you please fetch me a stretcher?” Peso asked “Already on it Peso!” Dashi said, heading back to the Octo Ray.
“Is it going to be okay?” Tweak fretted “I sure hope so… I’ll do everything I can do.” Peso said in a jittery manner.
Shellington hugged Paani close, trying to comfort the shaken up macaque.
“This is my fault.” Paani sniffled, his face buried in Shellington’s lab coat, “No, it’s not.”
Shellington insisted “But it was my idea to come here.” Paani sobbed “Yeah but, you were trying to stop them. It’s not like you were encouragin’ them to do it.” Shellington said.
Paani nodded, the two then went back to the Octo Ray.
Once everyone was loaded onto the Octo Ray, Dashi called Captain Barnacles.
“Hey Captain… Um… I have horrible news.” Dashi stuttered “Oh… Oh no… what is it?” Barnacles asked “Kwazii… They were… bitten by a cobra…” Dashi sighed in jittery manner.
“Oh… oh my god! Is it okay?!”  Barnacles panicked “We think that it’ll be fine be we’re not sure…” Dashi frowned, “we’ll be home soon, in about five to ten minutes.” Dashi said, then signing off.
“Oh… oh my god..” Barnacles remarked, “What’s wrong?” Inkling asked, he had just come from upstairs from the library.
“Kwazii was bitten by a cobra.” Barnacles explained “OH MY!-“ Inkling exclaimed, dropping his glass of tea on the floor, shattering it into little pieces.
“I’ll get that-“ Barnacles assured, going to go get the broom from the kitchen.
•••
Peso placed Kwazii in the sick bay, he was attaching a IV to his wrist.
He was going to have to monitor Kwazii closely.
Meanwhile, Paani was sobbing into Kwazii’s pillow, it had the stench of catnip, it was very strong. Which wasn’t surprising, considering Kwazii’s tendency to smoke catnip.
Hm… maybe I should donate all the Edda things to a pirate museum… I bet that’s something Kwazii would’ve wanted… considering how there’s not to much information on Edda. Paani thought, she then got of her partner’s bed.
Paani then glanced at his guitar, he walked over to it and opened its dusty ass case.
Paani knew the perfect song to sing.
“Boredom’s in the bathroom shakin’ out the loose teeth…” Paani began to sing, strumming and picking his guitar as he sang.
“Sally’s in the stirrups claiming her destiny…”
Paani sang softly as tears rolled down their face.
“And nobody nowhere understands anything… about me… and all my dreams….” Paani sang with a sniffle.
“Lost at sea…” Paani croaked out, the lyric hitting them like a truck.
“Hey Paani!” Peso greeted, only to see Paani with trails of eyeliner down her face and with tears in her eyes, and her guitar in her hands.
“Oh um- sorry if I interrupted you-“ Peso apologized “But I just came to tell you that I think Kwazii might be getting better!” Peso beamed “oh um- that’s great!” Paani smiled, wiping his tears away.
Paani changed his clothes, he changed into a tank top and a pair of vintage jnco’s from 1999 that used to be his mom’s.
He then went to go get the stuff.
“Hey Shell, I’m going to donate this stuff to the shipwreck museum. I think that’s something Kwazii would’ve wanted, I mean. People don’t know much about Edda, and I think Kwazii would be happy because that means people would know more about her.” Paani said, “Alright then, sounds like a good idea!” Shellington agreed.
Paani went down to the launch bay, he noticed that Dashi was talking to Tweak. “Hey Dash, do you think you could fly me over to shipwreck museum? I have some stuff I’d like to donate to them.” Paani asked “Yeah sure thing!” Dashi replied, her and Paani then boarded the Octo Ray.
“Where is it?” Dashi asked, glancing at Paani.
“Fremantle.” Paani answered.
“Setting a course for Fremantle!” Dashi beamed.
It was about an hour later, the two of them arrived at the shipwreck museum.
Paani went straight to the donations area.
“Hello, what are you looking to donate today?” The person said, he was a middle aged looking red heeler. “These, they belonged to Edda the fish tailed. We found them in a ship wreck.” Paani explained, handing them over.
“Thank you for your donation! We recently received Edda’s ship as a donation so this is great!” The red heeler smiled “Your welcome” Paani smiled back, then leaving.
•••
It was a few hours later, Paani and Dashi had gotten back from Fremantle a few hours ago.
Paani sat in chair beside’s Kwazii hospital bed with his guitar.
Shellington and Peso sat in the other chairs, they had come to visit Kwazii too, along with Barnacles, Dashi, Tweak and Inkling.  The vegimals were crowded around Kwazii’s bed.
Paani gently stroked Kwazii’s face.
“Hey carrotcake… I have no idea if you can hear me or not but um.. I know that you like hearing me sing. So… um.. here.” Paani said, trying his best to hold back his tears.
They were going to play an acoustic guitar classic.
Paani started to strum his guitar. “Oh god Paani. Not the wonderwall-“ Tweak remarked, Shellington shushed her. “Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you, And by now, you should've somehow realised what you gotta do.” Paani sang.
But then, Kwazii started moving. Dashi gasped “Give him some space everybody!” Peso commanded, everyone then scooted back.
“Huh? Pancake? Aye- what happened?” Kwazii asked as he looked around the room. “You were bitten by a cobra.” Shellington explained “Oh- now I remember.” Kwazii frowned “We’re glad you’re okay! We were terrified!” Tweak sighed of relief. “Don’t try to befriend cobra’s ever again, got that?” Dashi said “got it!” Kwazii replied.
“Oh Kwazii I’m so glad you’re okay! Paani smiled, “me too pancake, me to.” Kwazii purred. Paani then climbed in Kwazii’s bed, resting their head on their partner’s chest.
Paani started purring “WAIT YOU CAN PURR?!” Kwazii gasped “Yes Kwazii, macaque’s can in fact purr.” Inkling informed.
“Awww” Shellington smiled at the sight of the two cuddling.
“I find it funny how Kwazii hated Paani’s guts but now they love each other very much.” Peso said “Yeah same.” Shellington agreed “They’re just like the enemies to lovers trope!” Dashi interjected “Oh yeah! Remember all the Zadr fics we used to write together? And make our Zim and Dib plushie’s kiss?” Shellington recalled.  “Yep. I sure do. Remember that one time that Pearl walked in on us playing with them?” Dashi recalled “Yeah that was very embarrassing-“ Shellington sighed.
“What’s a Zadr?” Peso asked “Oh um- We’ll explain later-“ Dashi replied awkwardly.
Paani then sang the rest of Wonderwall to Tweak’s dismay.

Prompt-oween Day 17
@occreatorexchange
Prompt: Shopping for costumes with a partner.
Fandom: The Karate Kid/Cobra Kai
Characters: Jimmy and OC Julie Lawerence, brief appearance by their daughter Lily
Rating: T
Word Count: 930
Summary: Jimmy and Julie try to pick out costumes for their first Halloween as a couple.
It’s the beginning of October.  Julie is sitting on the couch reading a Fear Street book, using her left foot to keep Lily’s bouncy chair going.  A thought comes to her.  It is her and Jimmy’s first Halloween as a couple.  And their child’s first Halloween.  The weight of that is not lost on her.  She puts her book down, checking on her little girl.
“You fell asleep on me,” Julie says in a quiet sing-song voice.  She takes Lily out of the bouncer, placing the baby on her back on the blanket on the floor.  “Have a good nap.”
 ***
Julie enters the kitchen where Jimmy is cooking dinner.  She comes up behind him.  Jimmy is stirring a pot of tomato sauce when he feels his wife’s arms slip around his waist.  He smiles as she kisses his bicep.  Turning the heat on low, he leaves the spoon in the pot.  Then he turns to face Julie, wrapping his arms around her.  “Can I help you with something?”
She lifts an eyebrow.  “I have an idea.”
Jimmy grins.  “Dinner can wait.”  He leans down to kiss her.
To his dismay, she pulls away and lets go of him.  Her nose crinkles, amusement glinting in her dark eyes.  “That’s not what I’m talking about.  And I’d rather not do what you’re thinking about on an empty stomach.”
Jimmy gives a mock sigh.  “Okay.  What’s on your mind?”
Julie takes his hand.  “Halloween.  Namely, that it’s our first Halloween as a couple, married or otherwise.  And it’s Lily’s first Halloween.  What do we want to do?  I mean, she’ll be five months old.  Is that too young for trick-or-treating?  Obviously, she can’t eat candy, but there aren’t any rules saying we can’t.  Or do we stay in with Lily, watching scary movies but have candy ready for trick-or-treaters?  If the latter, do we dress up and decorate?”
Jimmy raises his brows.  “That’s a lot to have on your mind.  I’m all for free candy, but maybe we should wait a year.  But I think Bobby’s going to have a small get together.  Not really a party, but costumes are encouraged.”
***
The next day, the couple walks into a costume shop.  Julie starts looking at the nearest rack.
“So, do you have any ideas?” Jimmy asks.  He flicks through a few men’s costumes on the next rack.
Julie shakes her head.  “Not really.  But I don’t want anything too fancy.  We’ll have Lily with us, so I need to be able to slip it off for feedings.”
Jimmy nods.  He puts a prince costume back.  He glances at Julie.  “How do you feel about couples costumes?”
She smiles.  “I’m not opposed, but we have to agree on a good theme.”
Jimmy slides some clothes down the rack.  He holds up a maid’s costume for her to look at.  Grinning, Jimmy asks, “Want to be Magenta?”
Julie laughs.  “I don’t think you could pull off Riff Raff.”
Jimmy scoffs, putting the outfit back.
Julie, still giggling, walks over to him.  She pulls her husband into a hug.  “Honestly, you make a better Brad.”  She trails a hand to his waistband.  “But you know, I wouldn’t mind seeing you dressed up like Rocky or Dr. Frank-N-Furter,” she whispers in his ear.
Jimmy groans, starting to get aroused.  He pulls away.  This is neither the time nor the place.  “I bet you would.  But, uh, maybe we should hold off on that until we can go to another midnight showing and make other plans for Lily.”
Julie smirks.  “Oh, I’m gonna hold you to that.”  She walks over to another rack.  She makes a face at a sexy nurse costume.  “Nope.”
He picks up a gold Starfleet uniform, holding it up to his body.  “Do you think I’d be a good Captain Kirk?”
Julie gives him a halfhearted shrug.  “I think you could pull it off.  I’m just not a Kirk fan.  And who would I be?  Lieutenant Uhura or one of the women of the week?”
He puts it back.  “Not a Star Trek fan, I take it.”
Jule shrugs again.  “It’s okay.  If I had to watch it, I prefer Spock and McCoy.  But I will admit the movies are better than the show.  Also, I prefer The Next Generation.  And it’s no Star Wars.”
Jimmy perks up.  “Hey, now.  There’s an idea.  We could be Han and Leia.”
Julie smiles at him.  “We already were.  Don’t you remember?”
Jimmy stops going through costumes.  He appears confused.  “What?  In 1983?  We were both kids then!”
“Doesn’t matter.  I still consider it a couple costume, considering that we did in fact become a couple.”
“Nearly a decade later,” he argues.
“I don’t care.  It was our first couple costume,” Julie insists.  And I’m not ready for a repeat.”
Jimmy and Julie continue looking through the options.  They are facing opposite directions.  Each one picks up a costume.
“Jimmy, what do you think?”  Julie turns to him.  She is holding a red dress with white polka dots in one hand and mouse ears with a matching bow.
Jimmy laughs.  “I think we’ll match.”  He shows her his costume, a black bodysuit with a pullover hood that had mouse ears and red shorts.
Julie smiles.  “Mickey and Minnie, a classic cartoon couple..”  Then she bites her lip.  “What about Lily?”
He thinks for a minute.  “I’ve got it.  She has that yellow onesie with a matching hat.  I’ll sew on some black ears and she’ll be Pluto.”
Julie claps.  “Oh, I love that idea!  It’s decided then.”

Sleep ~ untitled cobra kai fic
If Anthony was content enough to be set down or to be rocked to sleep in his father's arms, Amanda would let him be and hug Sam to her, play all the little games she wanted, carry her on her hip even if her arms got tired. She had the vague notion that she didn't want Sam to feel like the baby was going to get all the attention, that she had to make Sam feel extra special so that on the days Anthony took up all her time, Sam could look back on these sunny weeks and remember that she too, was loved.

This is his best friend, who he pinkie swore with at age 7 that their friendship would be epic and long and epically long. This is Richie, who knows about the possessiveness Stan feels over them being friends the longest, and who feels the same. If any two people can make it, if any two people can become the glue to hold seven friends together...well, maybe it’s them.
Unless ~ the crew invents the wet t shirt contest fic - ofmd

Yawn ~ the inception au - ofmd fic
Stede holds back a yawn - only to give in to the urge when Lucius lets out a jaw-cracking yawn of his own.
"Can't we be done for the night, Captain?"
"Don't call me that," Stede says, though he knows the boy won't listen.
And you also said Ocean ~ untitled ofmd fic
The thing about being a creature of the sea is that you instinctively know your own. So Stede knows that Ed, for all his expert handling of himself and his crew, can't call the ocean home the way Stede does. He might still not be human, but that wouldn't be a magic Stede's blood sings with or recognizes.
Izzy, on the other hand...

𝟏𝟓: 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
— Chapter 15 of Call of Duty: Kinktober (2023)
In which Alex gives Gaz the perfect "pick-me-up".
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: Kyle "Gaz" Garrick & Alex Keller
𝐱: workplace setting, suggestive, non-sexual pairing, mentions john price and simon riley, 𝟏𝟖+ 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐃𝐍𝐈 A/N: i ship these two so mf hard, it's not even funny. (736 words)
Tumblr media
The coffee machine whined before seeping inky, dark liquid, filling the glass carafe below. Gaz massaged the back of his neck, his head tilted back in a lazy stance of impatience.
Boy, he thought, am I in for a day.
The breakroom had been relatively quiet aside from the sputtering of the coffee machine. It should have been easy for Gaz to hear the door open behind him, followed by heavy boots and a voice.
Alas, he didn’t.
“Garrick!”
Gaz jolted as a hand clapped against his back. An arm decorated with greys and blacks hung around his shoulders. He followed the designs until they disappeared behind him. He turned his head, tracing the bared fangs of a colorful, Japanese-styled cobra before meeting the eyes that studied him.
“Huh?”
“I said…‘good morning’ and ‘how are you,'” Alex grinned, the corners of his eyes deepening with humor. “Well?”
“M’good,” Gaz mumbled, scratching his chin. He scoffed out a laugh and shook his head. “Sorry, mate. It’s been a long morning.”
“Yeah? No kidding.” Alex quietly laughed, nodding his head down at the brewing coffee. His arm remained around Gaz for a moment as he looked back over.
“Gotta be careful with caffeine,” he continued as if he spoke from experience. The daylight coming from a nearby window caught the blues of his eyes. Gaz noticed, upper lip twitching with a smirk.
Gaz nodded. He relaxed under the warmth of Alex’s arm. The touch quelled the tension in his back. His eyes settled on the pot before him, and his foot began to tap. “I’ll be careful."
He was careful, but he was more than ready for that coffee. That kickstart it would offer after a few sips. That internal hug from a mug…
Alex’s arm slid away, his hand rubbing the muscles of the Sergeant’s back tenderly. Gaz didn’t even catch the words the man spoke, too lost in his thoughts about his cuppa when-
The tips of Alex’s fingers were noticeably colder as they brushed over the collar of his shirt, igniting his skin. The sensitivity of his neck was exposed the second Gaz sucked in a sharp breath, body flinching before he stiffened again.
Alex watched, head tilting as his eyebrows raised in amusement.
“On edge, are we?” the man quipped, lips pulling into a slow smile. Gaz ignored the heat crawling up his neck and to his cheeks. His head swung back in forth as he took a pointed step forward.
“Like I said, Keller,” he huffed. “Long morning.”
Gaz pressed against the counter, biting the inside of his cheek as his hands fumbled with the stack of disposable cups. All thoughts had muddled into one: the ghost of Alex’s touch lingering on his skin.
Alex opened his mouth to speak, stopping promptly as the door swung open with a swarm of words. It had been John, talking absentmindedly with the Lieutenant on his heels. Alex’s head snapped to the two, while Gaz kept a tense back against the noise.
“Ah, just the blokes I need. Kyle. Alex. My office, will you?” John spoke quickly as he flitted from the fridge and back to the door, a bottle of water in his hand. Ghost trailed him like a shadow, something of a file in hand that caught the Captain’s attention once again.
“Sure thing, sir,” Alex returned with a short nod, his body facing the door as John and Ghost exited. He took a glance over his shoulder, pursing his lips.
Gaz kept his head lowered, methodically ripping open a third packet of sugar and pouring it into the cup. He paid too much attention to the way it dissolved in the steaming pool of java.
What the fuck was that, Kyle?
Alex reached out, patting the Sergeant’s left shoulder as if to either say ‘see you later’ or ‘I know, it’s okay’. The thought of both made Gaz close his eyes, bottom lip tucked between his teeth.
“Can’t keep the Captain waiting,” Alex called over his shoulder as he walked out, the door closing painfully slow behind him. Gaz didn’t move until he heard the ‘click’. He deflated immediately, dispelling a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“Bloody…Christ,” he growled, slamming a hand on the counter. Gaz snapped a lid over his cup before taking it in a tight hold, ignoring the subtle tent that had set up camp between his thighs.

the weather is relatively nice out, which is why he’d initially climbed up the tree. he wanted to see the view from the highest point, but he found himself dozing off after finding it. however, when the sound of footsteps approaching fill his ears, he wakes up.
there are better ways of checking to see who’s walking by, but by doesn’t really want to leave this spot. ensuring his feet are nicely secured on the branch he’s currently perched on, he goes upside down, appearing seemingly out out nowhere.
“ vivi!!! ” the fact that he might’ve startled her doesn’t cross his mind, he’s just happy to see the princess. so much so, he’s willing to untangle his feet from the branch, which sends him flying down, his face hitting the ground. he’s completely unfazed, and he stands up, acting as if he hadn’t just fallen from a tree. “ it’s nice to see you again!! how’ve you been? ”
Vivi admired the weather for a while. It was absolutely gorgeous out and had a small breeze. She was relieved to be outside when they could have just as easily kept her indoors since the Levely was about to be underway. There was plenty of time to spare, so Vivi made sure to take advantage of this time to visit certain islands with her guards. She was watched closely by her father's trusted guards.
She stepped within the area of the peaceful shade, not bothering to look up into its branches. She smiled, enjoying the breeze as it strengthened into a bit of a gust. She admired the sound of the rustling leaves. Yes, it had been so long since she got to explore other islands with the Straw Hats. She missed those days, even if the circumstances were not in their favor. She looked everywhere till lastly, she looked up to see Straw Hats' captain, himself falling towards her. She hugged the trunk of the tree with a slight yelp.
She watched as Luffy hit the ground. She could not help but feel thankful nothing was broken as he got up from the ground unfazed. The years went by and Luffy still was recognizable. His clothing might have changed and he may have gotten a scar on his chest, but he was still wearing his signature straw hat. She smiled at her country's savior. It has been maybe more than two years since he's saved Alabasta from Crocodile. Her brown eyes glossed over with tears. She had wanted to go with the Straw Hats, but she had a duty as a princess as well, and that was to her people.
"Luffy, it's been so long! I'm well," she said with a smile. She has changed too. Her sky-blue hair has gotten longer and with each passing day, she looked more and more like her mother. Well, according to King Cobra and his advisors. As for Vivi, she was getting closer and closer to taking over for her father. "I'm headed for the Levely, but we took a bit of a detour. I think we'll make it, but I'm free today! How are you?"
