Also on a more sombre note after all the new doctor who episode excitement- the family of Richard Franklin, Captain Yates in classic who, announced that he passed away this morning. He was a fabulous part of the 'Unit Family', especially in the Third doctor era. Rest in Peace king.

came to the sad realization that poor benton probably had the fuckin worst time of his LIFE between The Green Death and Invasion of the Dinosaurs. i mean.

between Yates being put through the wringer, Jo leaving with Cliff, and absolutely EVERYTHING that happens in Invasion of the Dinosaurs, i can’t imagine that man was having a good time! that’s two of his *close friends* leaving UNIT!

and idk how much time has passed between Green Death, The Time Warrior and Dinosaurs. like… a few weeks? months?? lord only knows!

Yes, they both did. With it still being illegal for military people to be in gay relationships in 1970s England, and the repercussions that could happen if they got together and were found out by the wrong people.

Who takes the lead in social situations?

Benton is the generally quieter one, so Yates does. Until they reconcile after "Planet of the Spiders", where Yates' self-confidence isn't as high as it was before, and he becomes the quieter one for a little while.

Who’s the big and little spoon?

Benton as the big spoon most of the time.

Who uses cheesy pick-up lines?

Yates does, and Benton sometimes fails to hide his little laughter at them. Yates does it to make Benton laugh.
