nct and pet names
pairing ▸ random!nct members x reader (yuta, ten, jaehyun, renjun, jaemin, chenle, riku, sakuya) author's note ▸ i was inspired by another post, but wanted to go for a more realistic feeling, especially towards the foreign idols. enjoy my brainrot. also there needs to be more wish content on here i beg
Tumblr media
yuta - naishinno
this man would definitely call you ‘gorgeous’, ‘divine’, or ‘princess’. but he’d prefer and be more comfortable to say such words in his native tongue. he also found out how much you enjoyed hearing him speak japanese, so sometimes on purpose he’ll sneak up behind you and whisper, “naishinno…'' (meaning princess in japanese)  startling you but also making your ears turn pink. yuta also has no problem with using the pet name within earshot of others, and as much as you protest, he assures you that no one really understands.
ten - mi mi
hear me out guys. hear me out. ten our beloved cat mom would definitely call you something relating to cats. he’s not calling you “kitten” because um that’s kinda cringe… but he would go for something cuter. “mao mi” is the chinese word for cat, (I KNOW HE'S THAI. BEAR WITH ME OKAY) and people usually refer to kittens as “mi mi” (it’s like the most basic name an owner can give to their cat too) most of the time, nicknames are usually duplicated characters, and mi mi is also a very common nickname for girls. it also means ‘tits’. so ten decided that was the best nickname in the world and he was an absolute genius for coming up with it, and so now you’re stuck with being called his “mi mi” for life. good luck.
jaehyun - cara mia/mi amor/ma cherie
jaehyun LOVES pet names. it’s a rare feat if he ever calls you by your first name. ‘sweetheart’, ‘darling’, ‘honey’. he uses them all. but jaehyun is a classy bitch, and he likes to keep things fancy, so his favorites are using different languages, just because it somehow sounds more expensive and full of taste and that’s exactly what he feels you deserve. some of his favorites include: “cara mia” the italian words for ‘my beloved’; “mon amour” & “mi amor” the french and spanish words for ‘my love’; and finally, “ma cherie” the french words for ‘darling/sweetheart’. (stream mon amour by gemini guys)
renjun - qin ai de/qin qin/lao po
okay yes renjun is using chinese, but not straight away into the relationship. let’s get that cleared up out of the way. he’ll initially start with ‘my dearest’, and uses his sweet voice to his advantage. “qin ai de y/n, could you do something for me real quick? pretty please?” but eventually as the relationship progresses on and he feels more comfortable, he’ll start dropping the “lao po” (‘wife’ in chinese) on you, which initially comes as a culture shock, because you haven’t even thought of getting to that stage yet. renjun teaches you of how common it is in china for non-married couples to call each other husband and wife, and even teaches you how to say ‘lao gong’ (husband)
jaemin - pookie
once jaemin discovers this word it’s joeover for you. one day you accidentally call him, ‘pookie’ to his face (which is what you would often use when referring to him around others) and he is so intrigued by the word he demands an explanation as to what it means. and when he realizes it’s true purpose, it’s true meaning, he’ll be taking that word to the GRAVE. and this brat uses it EVERYWHERE. on text, in person, in front of your friends. he will never spare you the pain and embarrassment. but he just wants to let you know how much he loves you, truly. his pookie <3
chenle - bao bei
immediately into your relationship chenle throws around ‘babe’ and ‘baby’ like crazy. this man knows what he wants because he quickly found out that if he slurred his words while saying, “bao bei a~” you would fold immediately. not afraid of saying it in front of others because the only one who understands are the c-liners (but eventually everyone catches on) chenle also somehow makes it seem so casual and natural. ‘bao bei’ also directly translates to treasure, and he’ll occasionally add in a ‘xiao’ (little) at the beginning when praising you or giving you compliments.
riku/sakuya - pan-san
I was originally just going to do riku, but figured i’d just shove these two together, but mostly write about riku.
sakuya and riku both like bread, the only difference is that while both want to work at a bakery, sakuya cannot cook to save his life and riku can actually bake. these two actually share so much in common it's actually insane, for one being absolute shits in general. regardless, ‘pan’ means bread and ‘pan-san’ is actually so cute and it rolls off the tongue really well. (i was originally going to say ‘pan-pan’ but a quick google search said no.)
although riku enjoys teasing you, he still wants you to enjoy the pet name given to you. ‘bread’ is sweet, it is simple, and it is certainly delicious. literally the best nickname anyone could ever have and you should be grateful. but you don’t seem as pleased as he is. you have to process that your boyfriend is naming you after bread. not even like ‘cupcake’ or ‘sugar cookie’ or something else, just. bread. but after riku yaps about it for an hour, adding in compliments and phrases, you give in, and allow yourself to be called bread.

Matriarch - Filip 'Chibs' Telford x Reader

Companion piece to Punishment & Silver & Gold
Tumblr media
You’re sitting at your desk, smoking a cigarette when Chibs enters your office. You look at the clock on the wall and realise it’s gone past midnight, you’re not sure when that happened. Time’s been fluid since you watched the light die in Galen’s eyes. You remember something similar happening when you’d killed your ex-husband.
He looks down at the body on your floor and you see the way his jaw tightens, the muscles in his shoulders tensing. It’s his job to keep you safe but you’ve managed to do that all by yourself. He’s old fashioned sometimes with his thinking, he has no illusions about being a white knight, but he hates the fact you’ve been forced to take action.
“Couldn’t have happened to a nicer scumbag.” He spits on the corpse before turning to face you. His eyes come to rest on the gun that sits in the space between the two of you, the one he had given you just in case. He had never dreamed that you would need to use it.
You offer him a cigarette from the cardboard carton on your desk and he removes one before using the gold Zippo to light it. He takes a drag before leaning against the wall, his gaze straying to the blood pool underneath Galen.
“You’re going to need a new carpet love.” He tells you. “There isn’t enough bleach in the world to get that up.”
Realistically it would be simpler to burn down the entire office, eradicate the evidence but that would bring the police calling and he thinks they probably hate you as much as they despise the club. It was the downside to being good at your job.
“The place needs refurbishing anyway.” You remark, tapping the ash from your cigarette into a silver ashtray. “I don’t think it will take Allie much convincing, she’s been wanting to change things up for a while.”
“I can get Juice and some of the guys on it, get rid of the body and the carpet but…” He trails off and you know that the ‘but’ is. It means that news of Galen’s death, the manner of it, spreads around the M.C like wildfire. Nobody would believe that Chibs had done this, it’s too personal.
“They need to see that I take care of my shit.” You state, blowing a stream of smoke out of your mouth and watching it evaporate into the air. “That I’m still taking care of their shit.”
Secrets is what it all came down to.
The Club’s secrets.
Galen had wanted to pluck each and every one of them out of your head and twist them to leverage his position with the M.C. Not a single one had passed you’re lips during your time together. He respected that, he’d told you, your loyalty. You couldn’t buy that shit, it was born out of love.
You weren’t sure when that had happened.
There were moments though, ones that stuck in your mind.
The look in Tig’s eyes when he told you about his girl, how proud he was of her whilst the two of you hammered out his investment into Cara Cara. The enquiry he’d made about making sure she received his share of the business in the event of his passing. He’d worried about that, you remember, making sure that she was taken care of, along with the two daughters he barely saw.
The taste of Bobby’s banana bread as he told you that his kid was better off not knowing him, that he had always been bad news, which was why he was on his third divorce. You knew a thing or two about making bad choices, you’d reminded him. He wouldn’t always be unlucky in love, especially not when he baked like that. His smile had warmed your heart.
Tara’s guardianship and adoption of the Able after you’d helped facilitate her marriage to Jax. You’d been invited to both the wedding and the subsequent adoption party. You remembered standing in the kitchen, talking to Juice about his weed shop when Jax had passed you baby Thomas for a minute because he’d had his hands full with Able. You think that was the moment it dawned on you how much trust they had in you, that they’d come to see you as one of them.
All of these things they weren’t just legal affairs; they were snippets of people’s lives. Important pieces that meant something deep to each and every one of them.
Strung up in that barn you had known that you could never let Galen have that. To him the M.C was a device to be wielded, a tool to build up his side business but to you they’d become a part of your life.
It would have been easy to relent. To divulge how the M.C were diversifying, making more money with legit businesses like porn and escorts than they ever had with gun running, which was why they were starting to pull out of the trade but the damage of revealing something like that…
It would have been catastrophic.
Noone would have blamed you, Tig had told you in the aftermath when he was helping Tara see to your wounds.
I would have, you’d responded.
You’re distracted as Chibs removes his phone from his pocket. You see him hesitate, his thumb hovering over the buttons before he looks at you helplessly.
“This will bind you to them.” He tells you, tilting his head towards Galen’s corpse. “After this there’s no going back, they’ll start looking to you. You’ll go from their lawyer to their matriarch.”
You understand what he’s saying, you’ve protected them once, allowing Galen to take his pound of flesh. This thing that you’ve done will reinforce the action, you’ve taken care of something that was very much a Club problem. Before his presidency, before killing Galen, you could have been viewed as collateral damage, an affiliate of the Club who been caught up in their mess but now…
You know how this looks. That they’ll see it as you defending them.
“Right now, you can walk away from me, from the club…” he trails off when he sees the look in your eyes. The glint of steel underneath all of that silk. “That was never going to happen was it?”
You shake your head.
“I didn’t want this for you.” He tells you honestly. “When I kissed you that night at my kitchen table, I had no idea we’d end up here.”
You know what he means. Him with the presidency, you standing along side of him, a part of the Club’s bloody history. Nobody could have foreseen this, the course of circumstances that has led you to this moment.
“Maybe it was always meant to happen.” You tell him stubbing out your cigarette before casting a glance at Galen’s corpse. “This feels like the beginning of a joke. What do you do with a dead Irish Man?”
He laughs, he can’t help it because it does. He feels that pressure in his chest relinquish as the edges of your mouth tip up into a smile. Anyone else would be horrified by what had happened here tonight but you’re anything but. He senses the relief in you, you’ve slayed another of your monsters, you can sleep easy knowing that Galen can never touch you again.
“I love you.” He finds himself saying.
He means it. He always has.  He’s just never been able to vocalise it until this moment. He’s never doubted your commitment to him, but accepting the Club, that’s always been at the heart of his reluctance. You don’t shy away from the life he leads; you embrace it. You understand that it’s part of him and now it’s a part of you too. It may not be what he envisioned but it’s the future the two of you are stepping into and he treasures it with every fibre of his being.
“I know.” You tell him, clasping his hand. “I’ve always known Filip.”

Video 📹 Forget Me Not Gin Instagram 14 August 2020 (Caitríona posted it 11 August 2020)
The Staff Canteen GrilledLIVE Podcast, streamed 11 April 2023, recorded 8 March 2023 in Glasgow Apple Spotify
Tumblr media
Cara Bouchon, Host: We’ve been drinking some lovely wine whilst we’ve been sat here, but Caitríona, you have your own gin, just staying on tipples, Forget Me Not Gin, correct? What made you want to do that, and you’ve done a batch, are you doing another?
Caitríona Balfe, Guest: Yeah, we did one batch. We are in the process of getting it up and running again. Obviously the pandemic happened and Brexit happened… when we did our first batch… Why did I want to do it in the beginning? We were talking, me and my husband*and a friend** of his who’s in the hospitality and drinks business, and we were talking about the Arts and how it’s been so underfunded here, abroad, everywhere I travelled. Governments are slashing support for the Arts left, right, and centre, and we were talking about “what if we did something where we could use a percentage of the profits to give back, and that the whole ethos of the brand would be that it’s about getting artists to help?” We would fund them, we would support them, and in their turn we could have artists use their art and promote it.
We were just riffing and we were “let’s try one batch and see what happens.” We did something like 2000 bottles and it sold within a day, and were were “that’s kind of cool, let’s go and do more of this.” And when we did that, were were able to take the order, ship it, get it to anywhere in Europe within two days. And then Brexit happened, and it was like, “well you can’t do that.” And then to ship to the U.S. there’s a lot of complicated loopholes because there’s a very strange system in the U.S. that still exists since prohibition. And then I got pregnant, so you can’t really be flogging booze when you’re pregnant, so we just put a pause on everything. And we’re about to launch… well, I don’t want to give a time because there’s still stuff we’re sorting out, but we’re going again. It’s coming soon. Forget Me Not is not (forgotten).
Cara: Why gin? Is gin your favourite drink?
Caitríona: Look, I’m somebody who likes a lot of drinks, but gin is something I think you can play around with the flavours in a really interesting way within a very short space of time. Obviously, if you want to do a real whisky or things like that, that takes a long time to get them aged and all of that.
I love a gin during the summer. So it’s about being able to… hopefully we do this one, our staple, and then I would like to do interesting flavours. The idea is to build special batches and stuff like that, make it something that’s a little bit more unique and have artists come in, or have people come in, to put their stamp on it as well, and work in conjunction with people.
And we’re working with SWG3***, we’re going to fund artist spaces. We’ve done it with our last batch. We’re going to do that continuing, and we hope to do those projects in various different countries as well.
It’s to do something fun. I like to do things like this in terms of it’s an interesting outlet for me in a different type of creative way, and it’s also something where I can invest in stuff I’m interested in and help in a way.
I’m not necessarily… I’m not going to take over the gin business for the rest of the world. It’s fun.

Chapter 2: How to Find Your Mark
“Your Soul Mark’s location does not necessarily have to match with your soulmate, however, 95% of Bonded Souls report that their Marks were positioned in a way that made it easy to Bond. For example: a Mark on the wrist might fit with a Mark on a palm; a Mark on a hip might correlate with a Mark on the opposite hip.” - The Guidebook to Soulmates (pub. 2039, Motto)
-
Omera woke up a full two hours before her alarm was scheduled to go off, too overwhelmed with thoughts and anxieties about the day ahead of her at work.
She would be giving a presentation to to the entire board and high ranking members of the team, which ordinarily wouldn't be a big deal, but with the next deadlines for the ship closing in, she was especially nervous hoping that her words would come across right.
Unable to sleep, she went about her typical morning routine: shower, coffee, a scroll through her work tablet, and then she went to prepare breakfast and a packed lunch for her daughter.
The alarm went off, followed by a snooze. Then, Winta’s door opened and the girl shuffled out into the kitchen with wild bedhead and a deep frown that creased her forehead.
“I’m tired.”
Omera flipped a pancake onto the plate in her hand and then set it down in front of Winta.
“Good morning, Tired.”
Winta stared back at her, unwilling to laugh, so Omera did the laughing on their behalf.
Sounding absolutely exhausted, Winta sighed heavily as she slumped into her stool at the counter. Grabbing for her fork, she said, “Mama, that’s not funny.”
“Oh well. I tried.” Omera returned to cooking the rest of the pancake mix. It was quiet for a little while. “Did you finish your reading last night?”
“Mm. I finished the whole book.”
Pride swelled inside her chest. It had been a long few years with just the two of them. The loss of her husband still hurt when she took even a second to think about it, but there was joy in the certainty that she and Winta remained to carry out his legacy in whatever ways they were able to.
Before Omera could grab a plate for breakfast herself, there was a knock at their door.
It was typical for them to get visitors. Even on days when there was a constant stream of work to be done, it seemed that there was always someone visiting. She’d given them permissions to enter if the door was unlocked, but she’d yet to do that for the day.
Omera went to answer the door and pulled a smile on when she saw who waited on the other side. It was their nosy next door neighbor, a petite woman named Peli, whose brown curls were wild and loose atop her head.
“I was making my morning cup of coffee and realized I’m all out of sugar. Could I bother you for a pinch?”
Omera held open her arm to allow her inside. “Of course, Peli. Come in.”
The woman entered the apartment as she’d done so dozens of times before. When she spotted Winta, she waved.
“Good morning, little lady. How was that math test?”
Winta swallowed a bite of breakfast and grabbed her cup of milk to wash it down. “Good. I got an A.”
“An A?” Peli’s astonishment was reflected in the look she gave Omera. “Mom, do you realize you have a little Einstein here? An A in math is no joke.”
Omera chuckled. “I’m very proud of her. She studies hard and it pays off.”
Peli maneuvered herself to the sugar container in the cabinet beside the stove. She was even able to find the silverware drawer without direction.
As she scooped the sugar into her mug of steaming hot coffee, there was another knock at the door. This time, Omera was able to guess who the arrival was.
Cara Dune lived two doors down and was almost always over at her apartment for just about any reason under the sun. She preferred to share meals with Omera and Winta, and she made sure to pay for her plates in varying ways. She was not just a friend, but a shoulder to cry on, and a helper when no one else could be. Her dark hair was short on one side while it hung longer on the other and her figure was muscled as a result of years spent training as a fighter before she joined the police force.
“Hi Cara!” Winta chirped.
“Hey, kiddo. Sorry I missed you last night. I had to work late.”
“That’s okay. Me and Mama had pizza and some new friends came over.”
Cara scrunched her nose playfully and squinted her eyes just so. “New friends?”
“Mhm! They live on our floor, too.”
Cara turned her attention to Omera with a knowing smirk on her lips. “I came by to gossip about our new neighbors, but it sounds like you already have the scoop.”
“Oh yeah?” Peli’s body physically perked up. She swiveled away from the counter where the sugar container was practically abandoned. “What’d you learn?”
Omera gently made her way to the abandoned sugar sitting on the counter. As she divulged what information she could, she put the sugar away. “Well, he works with me. He has a little boy. Doesn’t talk very much.”
Cara folded her arms as she leaned against the counter’s edge. “I heard he’s ex-military.”
She nodded. “Space Corps.”
“Hm,” Peli grunted. She joined them by the counter while Omera grabbed Cara a plate of pancakes. “Is he single?”
Cara lifted an eyebrow at the query and met Omera’s surprised gaze before she teased, “Why? Are you looking for a new husband, Peli?”
Winta laughed. “Peli has her cats. She doesn’t need a husband.”
Peli nodded and winked at Winta. “That’s exactly right. I have my cats.”
Cara grabbed the plate of pancakes when Omera offered them to her. “So… what vibe did he give off though? Single? Bonded?”
Omera rolled her eyes and tilted her head toward her shoulder as she looked between the three gathered in her kitchen. “If you must know, single. He’s Mandalorian.”
Peli sighed wistfully into her cup of coffee. “I’m sure I could persuade him otherwise.”
Cara laughed in surprise. “Peli.”
The older woman shrugged. “I’ve seen the documentaries. People walk away when they run into their Match. Sometimes even before they Bond.”
Winta watched Peli with a wrinkled brow, confused at the conversation topic.
Thankfully, Cara rescued it. “So if he’s off the table… who else can we set you up with, Mama?”
Winta bounced playfully in her seat. “Yes! Who?”
Omera gave Cara a hard look. “I’m not-”
“Mama, you’re single,” Winta chastised lightly. “Live a little.”
Both Peli and Cara burst out laughing, the kind of laughter that could’ve powered the energy that lit the entire building.
“I’m living just fine, thank you,” Omera defended. She finally made up a plate of breakfast for herself. “I have you three to keep my days interesting enough. I don’t need to add dating into the mix.”
-
Leia Organa was pure light when she entered a room. She would almost instantly earn the attention of anyone within earshot just by saying hello and often granted anyone who wished to speak with her any time they desired.
When the discovery of the Outer Rim was initially made years ago, there had been a boom of growth in the area of spacecraft engineering. Once the first few missions failed, or could only progress so far without funding, Leia and her adoptive father were one of the few to ask the right questions regarding space travel.
As such, Falcon Aerospace Industries was created. Since its incorporation, they’d sent dozens of satellites and a full crew of brave volunteers out to the Outer Rim. The results of those missions were positive ones. The first crew sent quarterly correspondence to ensure that they were still operating at capacity- and had even exceeded travel expectations.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything important.”
The warm voice came from the doorway of Omera’s office, where she sat at her desk with a dozen little fires she wanted to try and put out before the quarterly meeting would begin.
She looked up in time to see her boss, Leia, all on her own with her hair done up in a braided bun and a big smile on her lips.
“Leia,” Omera replied happily. She stood up to greet the woman and Fennec followed her lead. “What a surprise. I wasn’t expecting a visit until after the meeting today.”
Leia entered the room gracefully. “We got here early and I thought I’d check in. Is everything going alright?”
Omera hesitated just enough that Leia nodded in understanding.
“Maybe I should’ve asked if everything is going as well as it can be.”
They both laughed.
“Yes,” Omera replied. “We hit a few snags overnight and I’m trying to put in a few last minute orders.”
Leia hummed, ever so calm, and held her hands together as she paced the windows of Omera’s office that overlooked the ship just below.
“Have you given my proposal any thought?” Leia asked without looking away.
Omera took a breath and held it. When she dared a glance at Fennec, her assistant lifted pointed eyebrows, as if taunting her.
“I haven’t had much time to think about it,” she lied, unwilling to get on Leia’s bad side. “I’m busy enough as it is. I’m not sure adding space training to my weekly routine would fit in all that well.”
Leia turned to face her and gave a wry grin. “Sounds like you have thought about it.”
Omera tilted her head and sighed. “I… don’t know. My daughter has friends here…”
“We’re sending fifty children on this mission,” Leia reminded. She stepped toward Omera slowly. “We’ll need someone with your talents on the other side of all this. There will be so much to learn and explore. Doesn’t that excite you?”
She dragged her teeth against her lower lip as she thought about it. Of course it excited her. The prospect of joining the colonists on the twenty year journey to the Outer Rim was thrilling and special.
But every time she thought about leaving Earth, she thought about what she would leave behind and it stole her breath away.
“The last signups for the bridge crew are within the next two weeks,” Leia told Omera. “Think about it?”
Omera managed a smile, despite everything in her that argued against it, and nodded. “Of course.”
Leia nodded back at her. Then, there was a figure in the office door that drew both of their attention: Han Solo.
Han was scruffy-looking, like Leia liked to tease, with his brown hair always mussed and his cocksure stance. He was a former Space Corps general, having spent plenty of time in space to justify his interest in the company, but he and Leia wouldn’t be joining the colony until year five.
“There you are,” he said, directing his irritated frown at Leia. “I’ve been looking all over.”
Leia hummed. She gave Omera her attention once more. “I’ll see you at the meeting.”
“Absolutely.”
Leia’s elaborate sigh was met with a pair of lifted eyebrows from the man waiting for her in the doorway.
“I told you where I was going, Han.”
Han set his hands on his hips and shook his head. “You left me on my own and I had to make conversation with that… Fett guy. You know I can’t stand him-”
She rolled her eyes and then looked over her shoulder at Omera and Fennec. “If I can give either of you any passing advice, never Bond with your Match on the first date.”
“We Bonded on accident,” Han was quick to recover, as if it saved face for either of them. “And it did work out for us in the end, didn’t it?”
“Sometimes, I’m not so sure…”
Leia was small compared to Han, standing at chest-height so he seemed to have the upper hand. But Omera knew that the opposite was true- she’d seen them interact before.
“Hey!” Han protested when she nudged him out of her way. “Leia. I’m sorry.”
Omera heard Leia sigh again from where she stood, just outside in the hallway with Han’s hand wrapped around her arm.
“You're being insufferable.”
“Insufferable? Me?”
The pair continued to bicker as they walked away from Omera’s office. She glanced over at Fennec and spotted a smirk on her lips.
“Han is always a treat, isn’t he?” Fennec asked as she collected the materials they’d want during the meeting.
Omera laughed under her breath. “I don’t know… I can see what she likes about him.”
Together, they walked out of the office and went up the hall toward the conference room. It was full, its occupants all chatting lightly around a long hand-carved table. The windows along the wall looked out at the build, showcasing the men and women hard at work developing the next stage of the design.
When Omera entered the room, she guided Fennec to their seats beside Boba Fett and his new hire: Din Djarin, the Mandalorian she’d shared pizza with.
She couldn’t help but smile at her neighbor. “Good morning.”
The man whose face was hidden behind a helmet nodded back at her. “Morning.”
Boba eyed his companion and a slow smirk found his lips, but he kept quiet as he sat back in his seat.
Omera opened up the morning’s presentation on her tablet as Fennec grumbled, “Great. Gideon’s here.”
She looked up, surprised, and spotted the man at the head of the table with Leia. The two seemed a lot more sociable and happy to see each other than they had been the last time they were in the same room. Gideon's smirk was almost sickeningly fake. Every time she had the misfortune of seeing him, she could never last longer than was absolutely necessary.
With a sigh, Omera returned her focus to her tablet screen. “I doubt Leia let him talk her into it. She’s held firm since the beginning. It’s not a prison colony.”
Fennec snorted. “His latest pitch was reformed criminals.”
Omera looked across the table, surveying the faces who had gathered. Many were familiar. She had friends here. The fact that Gideon would have slunk out of his hole to join them for this meeting made her feel lightheaded. He might not have been up to something, but she didn't like him being there regardless.
“I want to thank everyone for being so prompt,” Leia said as her informal opener to the meeting.
Everyone became respectfully quiet in unison.
“You all know I hate having to slow down the work, but it is important that we all be on the same page. Something like this has never been accomplished before.”
Omera smiled when Leia’s gaze met hers.
“Before we begin, I have some news. One of our primary investors, Empire Technologies, has decided to up their stake in the project to five hundred million dollars.”
A rousing cheer came up from those gathered, but Omera kept quiet. She stared at the man to Leia's right, Gideon, who smirked as he waved a hand at the room.
“Do you have anything you’d like to say to the group, Gideon?”
He stood. “I'd like to say thank you to Ms. Organa, and the rest of the board, for your continued dedication to the mission. Empire Technologies is proud to innovate alongside such a passionate group of individuals.”
Her heart leapt when his eyes found her. The corners of his lips twitched upward. “What we’ll accomplish, together, is nothing short of extraordinary. You are all heroes of humanity.”
Omera sighed. She was unable to continue staring into the face of the man, too annoyed that he'd come to the meeting at all, and turned instead to glance at the Mandalorian.
She was surprised to see that he stared back at her. It didn’t last longer than a few seconds, but in that time, she felt something she hadn’t felt since she met her husband.
It was a whisper in the back of her mind; a forward echo that went on and on- a future charted out in constellations. Warmth flooded her chest, a pleasant kind, as the momentary impression sank down deep within. She could feel the weight of every emotion she would ever feel for him: good, wonderful, bad, and sorrowful- the highs and lows of a life yet lived all at once.
It was strange that she’d experienced such a thing, and it was made even more peculiar by the fact that it wasn’t the first time she’d felt it in regards to Din. She’d felt it the night before, too, when they stood in her kitchen cleaning dishes.
As quickly as she could, she dismissed the distracting feeling. It didn’t matter. It was probably just the earliest tickle of infatuation rearing its head. She wasn’t in a place where she could date even if she had the desire to, so any feelings she had needed to be put to rest. It was disrespectful to him as well. He was a Mandalorian and she knew he believed in keeping a clear mind.
She averted her eyes to the tablet in front of her and held a breath as she tried to bring herself back to what was important: her presentation.
-
Omera was one of the most intelligent people that Din had ever met. It wasn’t just knowledge that made her intelligent- it was the way she carried that knowledge. She was humble with it, but in the same way, she was confident.
Over the course of the meeting, he watched her more than he listened. He couldn’t help but focus on the birthmark on her wrist. It was as if it called out to him, begging him to listen to the deep, dark desire hidden in the pit of his belly.
His parents were Bonded. Their Marks complemented each other, positioned on their arms in such a way that anyone could see them.
There was a certain level of comfort that came from knowing that his parents were soulmates. He could remember feeling safe because of it. Not many of his friends had Bonded parents. It was special. It was rare.
His mother had long, wavy dark hair that reminded him of Omera’s, how it tumbled against her back and swayed when she turned quickly enough.
Omera smiled brightly in his direction when she met his gaze. There was a strange feeling that accompanied the look- one he knew he should probably walk away from as quickly as he could. It was not the Way to embrace those kinds of feelings.
Around him, the rest of the meeting’s participants stood as if ready to go, which forced him to recognize the fact that he’d sat through the entire thing without actually listening.
Fett nudged him when he stood up. “Well, we have two weeks. Let’s try to make the most of them.”
Two weeks until what?
He dumbly nodded in response, sure he’d pick up on whatever the deadline they were up against later.
Before he could follow his boss out of the conference room, Omera stopped him by just saying his name. “Din?”
He turned a little too quickly for his liking.
If he was around other Mandalorians, would he suffer in this same way? Or was it just because he knew that on Omera’s wrist, there was a birthmark that matched the one beneath his ear?
Omera smiled prettily back at him and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she cradled her tablet against her chest. Her assistant waited in the wings as if they were about to take off, but Omera didn’t seem eager. She stared at him in silence for a few seconds.
“This morning, my daughter asked if you and your boy might want to stop by this weekend.” She fidgeted a little, swaying on her heel, as if uneasy about posing the question. “It’s her birthday party on Saturday. She really enjoyed having you over last night. I promised I’d ask, but if you don’t feel comfortable, that’s alright.”
Din blinked.
Before this job began, he’d lived on the road, often out of his car. He didn’t make many friends that way, and it was safe to assume the kid struggled just the same way- he was learning from him.
Attachments were against the Way, but the companionship found in friendship was seen as a strength. Mandalorians needed to look after one another, after all, and there was no greater compliment than to do so for a friend.
Part of his duties as the child’s guardian was to see to it that he would open up around others, that he’d be moldable and unafraid. It would be hard to do that if he couldn’t surround the kid with others, and the kid already liked Winta.
“Okay. We can be there.”
Omera’s eyes lit up with relief and she laughed under her breath. “Good. It starts at eleven. I'll let her know to expect Grogu there.”
Din felt himself smiling as she walked away. She glanced briefly over her shoulder to look back at him as she left the room with an even lovelier smile on her lips.
“She’s pretty, isn’t she?” Fett’s voice ripped him from his thoughts. He turned to face his primary work companion. Boba lifted an eyebrow and clapped a hand against Din’s upper arm. “You’re not the first to have a crush, and you probably won’t be the last.”
Din wanted to argue that he didn’t have a crush - that was against the Way, and he was devoted to his beliefs- but Fett started to walk him out of the conference room before he could form any thought on his tongue.
“I’m Mandalorian,” he said as they walked to the lifts. “We don’t believe in attachments.”
Fett hummed. “I know.” The man leaned forward to hit the button on the lift. “My father was Mandalorian.” With a coy grin, he gestured to his body. “I guess you can figure how that turned out.”
Din held his hands behind his back as they waited for the lift to arrive. “Children are different.”
Fett seemed skeptical. “You have one of those?”
He nodded. “For now.”
“Right,” Boba nodded. “Until your terms of care are over. Then, the child will lose his attachment to you.”
They were both silent when they entered the elevator. It was mildly discomforting knowing that Fett knew so much about his beliefs, if only because he seemed to be judgmental of them.
“He’ll get over it,” Din insisted coolly. “They all do.”
-
Cara Dune waited outside the building on the corner of the beachfront strip. She smirked when Omera approached, running impossibly late, and even though she uttered a hundred apologies, Cara shrugged like it didn’t matter at all.
They entered the bar and sat at their favorite couch positioned near the back, just hidden enough that nobody would interrupt them while they talked. It was their typical “Thursday night” tradition, although that tradition had suffered some with scheduling conflicts at work over the years.
Cara was a good friend, one who showed up when she was needed, and even when she wasn’t. Omera never minded having her over in the mornings, or on weekends. She’d been there during the worst days and helped take care of her when her mind was so clouded by grief that she was unable to care for anything at all.
“What do you think about Cobb?” Cara asked between her first sips of beer.
Omera frowned, confused. “Cobb from our building?”
Cara hummed. “Yeah. Is he… your type, or…”
Laughter bubbled past Omera’s lips as she shifted her left leg over her right and twisted to face Cara more on their couch.
“I told you this morning: I’m not looking for anything right now. I have too much-”
“Too much going on,” Cara mocked playfully. “You’re turning into a workaholic. I get that you’re doing important work, but take a break. Do something for yourself.”
Omera shook her head and sipped her drink. “I do things for myself all the time.”
Cara hummed, clearly mocking her. With her beer pressed to her lips, she asked, “Like what?”
She straightened her shoulders and took a deep breath. “I mean… we do this every week. Doesn’t that count?”
Her friend laughed. “I’ll allow it, but you gotta tell me something else.”
Omera genuinely thought about it. She dragged her teeth against her lip and slowly shook her head.
“I’m a mother, and being a mother means-”
Cara groaned, cutting Omera off. She set her drink down and reached out to touch Omera’s arms. For a second, she stared into her eyes, before she finally said, “You’re going to hate me for this.”
Omera frowned. “For what?”
Cara glanced away from Omera and then grinned. “Perfect timing.”
Before Omera knew what was going on, Cara pulled her up to her feet and directed her away from their very comfortable seats to instead sit her down at the bar, hands on her shoulders while she leaned in close.
“I’ll be waiting for all the details back home. Good luck!”
Omera, somehow even more confused than before, turned around on the barstool and watched Cara slip away before she was approached by a familiar figure.
The Mandalorian.

Chapter 4: Dinner at The Whicker's
Word Count: 1002

/) /) ( • ༝•)
Vanita only peeled herself away from her laptop when her stomach began to growl, exiting her bedroom to be blinded by the orange sunset streaming through the front window.
“Oh good, you're alive. Just in time to help set the table,” Elaine commented as her sister entered the kitchen. Before Vanita could say anything, a stack of plates had been forced into her hands. She put them on the table with nothing more than a disgruntled expression.
“What’s with the face?” Cara asked as she placed glasses and utensils next to the plates.
“I'd ask the same about you, but you can't help but look like that,” Vanita shot back.
“Ugh!” Cara threw her hands up in disgust and went back into the kitchen, making her sister smirk.
“Toby, did you wash your hands?” Vanita asked her younger brother as he entered the dining area. He nodded. “Good.”
“So, have you gotten a job yet?” Her mother asked as she brought in a large serving tray of chicken curry and rice, with sauteed asparagus and cucumber salad as sides.
“I just filled out an application, actually.”
“Finally. I can’t believe you're the only adult in this house who doesn't have a job, your sisters have kept theirs just fine and they attended college!”
Gee, thanks for the encouragement, Helen. Instead of saying this out loud, she went back into the kitchen to procure another energy drink.
“How many of those have you had today?” Cara asked.
“I’d say about nunya.” She cracked it open. “Nunya damn business.”
“What about cigarettes?”
“Cara, do you want to get slapped?” She traipsed back into the dining area and began serving food to Toby.
“Yeah, and how long have you been wearing those clothes?” Elaine asked. Vanita’s brown eyes would’ve gouged her, had they been daggers instead.
“That’s enough,” Helena stepped in. “No teasing at the dinner table.”
Vanita sat in bitter silence for most of the meal after that, while the rest of her family indulged in each other's company. Elaine was a nurse’s assistant and the type who complained more about her patients than she helped them. Cara was the assistant manager at a tech store, who knew next to nothing about technology. Helena was a businesswoman, but she survived mostly on what she had inherited from her dead husband. The only one of them Vanita didn’t abhor was her little brother. Sure, Toby got on her nerves, but at least it was a normal thing… he never upset her intentionally, unlike their sisters.
“You know, your mood would improve if you didn’t spend all your time in your bedroom with the lights off,” Helena spoke directly to her after dinner. “I only say it because I’m concerned for you, as your mother.”
“Who says I have a ‘mood?’” Vanita asked as she stepped toward her bedroom door.
“Where did you apply, anyway?”
“The Mega PizzaPlex…” She answered hesitantly, her hand on her doorknob. Her mother’s expression was a mixture of disappointment and disgust.
“That germ factory Toby loves so much?? Don’t you think that’s a bit childish??”
“Yeah, well. I like it. And I don’t think the pay’ll be bad.” And I have a personal project to attend to, but all in good time, mother. Helena shook her head, sighing heavily.
“They’ll never take you seriously in the real world. You should be glad I let you stay here, despite everything…”
“Maybe that’s why I spend so much time in my room.” With that, Vanita closed her mother out, glad to return to her hideyhole. She wondered what Vanessa was doing that night. She was probably sitting at home, eating dinner, maybe watching TV or scrolling on her phone. Next, she’d like to know where Vanessa lived. “All in good time,” she repeated aloud to herself as she stripped away her multilayered outfit.
Out on the town, Vanessa was enjoying herself, singing karaoke with her friends. She had brought out a dress she hadn’t worn in months, a sage green number with spaghetti straps that reached her knees. She had even worn her hair down, making her look like a completely different girl.
“I can’t remember the last time I had fun like this,” she admitted after a rendition of Sharp Dressed Man with Ginny.
“I told you it’d be good for you! We should go on a cabin retreat next. You like hiking, don’t you?” Ginny grinned as they plopped back down onto the couch.
Vanessa nodded. “Yeah, but I haven’t gone camping since I was like… eleven.” She tried to smile, but thinking back that far made her falter. Luckily, no one around her caught it.
“Doesn’t mean it’s too late to do it again. Besides, a cabin retreat isn’t camping, it’s…”
“Glamping!” Alissa chimed in.
“Exactly. We’ll find a nice place with a hot tub and pool tables… the whole nine yards.”
“Doesn’t that take the point out of camping?” Vanessa teased. Ginny waved her hand dismissively.
“Who’s next??”
“Not me,” Doug answered, standing. “Anyone need another drink?”
Vanessa, Alissa, and Jordan put in their orders. While they waited, Jordan took to singing Everybody Wants To Rule The World, to which the girls clapped their praise. A few more songs were sung, drinks drank, jokes shared.
“Oh, dang,” Vanessa had just looked at her phone. 9:30pm. “I should go, I don’t need a repeat of this morning.”
“Ah, very well. We’ve kept you long enough.” Ginny and Vanessa stood, hugging. “Get home safe!”
“Take care,” Alissa added.
“Thanks guys, this was really fun.” Vanessa smiled at them and left to hail a cab. On the ride home, her mind wandered back to the comment she had made about camping. That was one of the last things she had done with her now estranged father. He hadn’t been much of a camper, either, but he stuck it out. For her. A proud girl scout who had wanted to put her knowledge to the test. Memories like that were tainted, now.

could we have mc falling down the stairs and getting a concussion with ikevamp pls?
I got ya! Sorry it took this long...
Comte
you where at a party with Comte
while he talked to guests you excused yourself and walked outside
on the way out you  accidentally ran into a man
he helped you up, you apologized and continued walking
you reached the front door and stepped outside
suddenly a very angry lady burst outside and came right at you
“ Why where you talking to me husband!” you looked at her, a little confused
“ Well, I bumped into him and I had to apologize. That’s the right thing to do. Non?”
“ You’re lying!” “ Listen here I already have a boyfriend. And he’s the most loving, caring, kind-hearted, sweet person I have ever met! Why the hell would I go talking to your husband!” “ You lying little bi**h. I know you want to steal him away. I can’t let that happen. No hard feelings right?”
she looked at you, her words dripping with venom and before you could react she pushed you down the stairs.
you fell and hit your head hard  on one of the steps
you heard a commotion at the top of the stair and you where pretty sure you saw a golden figure bend over you, but you blacked out
when you woke up you realized you where back home in your bed
you looked over to your right and saw a very tired looking Comte smiling down at you
you felt guilty so you apologized
he combed your hair and reassured you that everything’s fine and he isn’t mad at you
he was super worried but he won’t let it show for your sake
Oh yessssss some nice juicy drama * faints because of my own work*
Leonardo
uuuuuuuh this man will have a heart attack
you where walking around town, when you came across this huge library
you were super exited about it so Leo decided to walk you around
you two had a blast
you where mesmerized at the millions of old books inside
When you found something interesting you would bounce up and down like the adorable little dork you where and Leo would chuckle, loving every second of it
when it was time to leave you skipped out followed by Leo
you where walking down the stairs explaining about modern libraries when you slipped and fell backwards hitting your head on the step
Leo couldn’t catch you
the last thing you remember is Leonardo’s worried face
you woke up in your bed
you looked around the room
suddenly you felt the blanket shift a bit
as you lifted it Lumiere crawled out
he nudged your cheek and curled up beside you
you pet him for a while and then got up
“ OUCh! Oh Cara mia you’re awake
yup he fell asleep right next to your bed on the floor
you giggled and gently tugged him up and into the bed
you cuddled for a solid 2 hours
Arthur
it was winter
you where walking home after a case
you where talking and laughing
but the ground was icy and as you where walking by the entrance to a building you pointed at something and accidentally slipped
Arthur was looking at what you pointed at when he heard a dull thump a groan and a horrible crack
he whirled around only to see you on the ground, knocked out and a small stream of blood was flowing from your cheek
he immediately scooped you up and ran, all the while beating himself up for not catching you
you woke up in your bed
Arthur was passed out on the bed next to you
you realized your head was bandaged, you had a band-aid on your cheek and your arm was in a sling
when he felt you stir Arthur woke up and hugged you
turns out you blocked most of the fall with your hand so you didn’t break your head, and managed to get away with a concussion, but your left arm payed the price because now it was broken
This doctor was worried sick
Theo
Theoooooo mah boi
you just finished up at one of Theo’s art exhibition? displays? showcases? i don’t know, just imagine the correct version here
he had just made a really good deal and he was visibly happy
you two chatted as you walked outside
as you reached the bottom and where standing there waiting for a carriage, a rabid dog jumped out of the bush and attacked you knocking you to the ground
Theo couldn’t catch you he was to busy getting the dog to leave
you hit your head on the last step really hard and within a few moments you lost conciseness
You woke up in your bed the next day (or so you thought)
Theo was sitting next to you holding your hand
he pulled you into a tight hug
“ Silly Y/N scarring me like this.”
you broke free from his bear hug, only to pull your lover into a passionate kiss
when you pulled away he stared  into your eyes
Theo’s not the type to convert his emotions into words he prefers actions and the way he’s looking at you now melts your heart and you know how much he worried about you
“Thank you for taking care of me Theo. I’m a little sleepy now but can you stay a while” he snorted “ Wasn’t  a day and a half enough for you” buuut he’s a cutie so he crawled into bed with you and held you close as you fell asleep
*Me writing a part for Theo*: yes yes let’s make Theo’s favorite animal into the villain of this. ok and then let’s traumatize him by making you sleep for a long time. AAAAHHHHAHAHAHA I’m so evil. Ok so now that i have that out of my system let’s make this the sappiest of them all. OML I LOVE HIM
Dazai
Dazai and you where walking from the gazebo after *caught* things *caught*
no I’m kidding you had a tea party and  made rhymes about little dolls and bird and playgrounds
you cute little dorks I love you so much
Sebas was watering the plants there a few minutes ago and it got onto the steppes
Dazai was busy making ridiculously stupid dad jokes and you where laughing your head off
sadly you didn’t notice the puddle and slipped on it banging your head on the step
the last thing you remember was Dazai wrapping his arms around you and lifting you up whispering “ I got you little bird”
you woke up in your bed in the evening
Dazai was right next to you stroking your hair
“ Good morning, Toshiko-san!” you couldn’t help but laugh
Dazai was worried about you but he likes to live his life by the saying: Laughter is the best medicine
Vincent
you when to a church because Vincent wanted to paint it
however once he finished most of it he decided it was missing something
something that could immediately turn any plain picture into a beautiful masterpiece
you
he asked you to model and you gladly agreed
you sat on the steppes and let Vincent paint you
once he was finished you jumped up and started hurrying down the stairs to see how it looked
unfortunately you slipped on one of the worn down steps and fell back banging you head and blacking out
Vincent saw this and rushed up to you
he was beside himself
he already has trouble dealing with emotions, and he just saw your life flash before his eyes
baby boy is traumatized
he picked you up and since he couldn’t carry it ditched the paining and ran to the nearest carriage
you woke up with Vincent by your side
he held your hand and smiled gently
“You’re awake thank God!”
you asked about the painting and he said he just left it there
needles to say you felt horrible so you asked if you could go back
he laughed saying it’s probably gone but complied
surprisingly the painting was still there
Napoleon
you where fencing
it was all fun and games
you would try your best and Leon would disarm you with ease
sometimes he would let you win by dropping the foil very obviously and saying something stupid like Oh no nunuce you got me again
either way it would always result in him picking you up and tickling you
at one point you where standing near the stairs
you where trying to disarm him and didn’t notice them
you stepped back and tripped and fell hitting your head on one of the stairs
the former emperor of France felt his blood chill
he had never seen something scarier then you passed out on the stairs
in a flash he was by your side scooped you up and ran into the house
you woke up a few hours later and sitting right next to you, squeezing your hand like there is no tomorrow, was Napoleon
Honestly he looked like he had aged 50 years
but as son as you made eye contact all that  disappeared as if it wasn’t even there to begin with
He hugged you and semi scolded you for being a nunuce and scaring him
Jean
My apology for this one instead of stairs I used a horse. Also based on a true story, sorta. I didn’t have Jean.😢😂
soldier boy
so you where riding with Jean one day
you loved these little outings
the way the wind whipped your hair and the landscape rushed past you as you rode into the sunset
romantic I know
but you have to remember that this also has it’s dangers...
that day you stayed out a bit longer then usual
the sun had already set when you decided it was time to go
so  you started making your way back through the dark forest
suddenly a fox dashed across the rode and scared your horse
it reared and trashed an threw you off it’s back
you hit your head and blacked out
you woke up the next morning in Jean’s bed
he himself sat beside you
he had his eye patch off and he had bags under his eyes
it was clear he stayed up all night ( he was that worried)
you felt guilty
you got up and hugged him against your chest  caressing his hair
he sighed “ I was so worried about you mademoiselle“
you giggled at the name “ I’m sorry monsieur“
he looked up at you lovingly, deep purple eyes shining
he reached up to cup your cheek as you threaded your hand through his hair and you both met in a passionate kiss
Me: YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE!!!!!! *sigh* I have lost my mind i case you haven’t noticed
Mozart
tsundere baby
Mozart had just finished one of his performances
and of coarse he killed it
since the place was not that far from the mansion you decided to walk to spare Mozart’s stomach
you where walking and you spotted something you stopped and excitedly pointed at it
Mozart rolled his eyes and kept going “You already have a plushie”
you playfully pouted but ran to catch up to him
suddenly a carriage rolled past you really close and scared you
you lost you balance and fell, hitting your head on the steppes of the building on your right
Mozart wheeled around and saw you on the ground
he cursed himself for not being next to you,
he quickly picked you up and ran
You woke up the next day
Mozart was right next to you
“ This is why I hate carriages”
you burst out laughing and hugged him
he hugged you back and then slowly placed you back onto the bed
he then knelt down and brought up a bag and placed on your lap
you looked into the bad and in it was the plushie you where looking at before the accident
“ I thought it might make you feel better” the blush was visible on his cheeks
“ Oh, Mozart!” you threw your arms around him yet again “ I love it. I love you.” He buried his face in the crook of your neck, breathing in your scent “I love you too”
Isaac
you where at the university
Isaac had finished his lectures and was surprised to see you there
or at least that was what he thought he looked like in actuality
he was flustered, and was stuttering, palm sweating a little
the kids (let’s call them that ok, they’re babies compared to Isaac anyway) got a kick out of that and where snickering in the background
you where standing on the steppes when a little girl, who you figured was someones sibling came rushing up to you
now you where standing facing each other and this girl came in between the two of you pushing you in the process
you lost your balance and hit your head on the railing of the stairs and then crumpled to the ground
all you heard was screams and then nothing
you woke up that evening and the second you opened your eyes Isaac had you wrapped up in his arms and was holding you against his chest
“ Do you have any idea how worried I was! Thank God you’re awake”
you cupped his cheek and pulled him into a kiss
once you pulled away you smiled up at the now very flustered Isaac
“ Thank you for taking care of me Isaac!”
he mumbled a ‘you’re welcome’
you laughed and hugged him
Sebastian
so the two of you cuties where grocery shopping
you where finishing up and walking out laughing and talking
all of a sudden you heard screams from inside the store
you turned around only to see a man running at you at full speed
you didn’t have time to react
he knocked into you and sent your stuff flying and you tumbling down the stairs
you hit your head hard
the last thing you remember was Sebastian desperately calling your name
you woke up in your room and Sebastian pulled you into a hug and kissed you deeply
nah just kidding
*flick*Don’t ever do that again” “ DID YOU JUST FLICK MY FOREHEAD?!
he smiled sweetly and kissed your forehead right where he flicked it
“I’m saying this because I was worried about you” “ Well that changes things”
you both laughed and then you cuddled
bless Comte for giving Sebas the rest of the day off so you could cuddle
William Shookspear
You where actually on stage
From the start of your relationship Will knew you loved acting
So one day he decided to let you audition and you got the main part
shocker
jkjk you where a great actress
The play began and you killed it
absolutely blew everyone away
at the end you rushed backstage to meet your boyfriend
he was there smiling at you
it was honestly the sweetest, brightest smile you had ever sen him give you
you rushed down the steppes, but your dress got caught in a nail and yanked you back
you lost your balance and fell backwards
you immediately lost consciousness
you woke up in his room
he was sitting beside you with a worried expression
he asked if you where feeling alright and when you said you felt fine he let out a sigh of relief
“ Did I do good Will?” you asked timidly
he smiled brushed back your hair and planted a kiss to your forehead
“ You where amazing”
That’s it! I really hope you enjoyed! Stay safe out there!

Chapter Summary: When you land on Corvus, you and Din both realize you’re more nervous about finding Ahsoka Tano than you thought.
Pairings: Din Djarin x Wife!Reader
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Angst | Word Count: 3k
Warnings: Mentions of reader’s pregnancy
A/N: When will God stop my sinful hand? Never, and I’ll keep writing for Mr. and Mrs. Djarin as long as it gives me serotonin like this. This series is a pretty distinct tonal shift from Dralshy’a Ka’ra, which was all sunshine, but I really wanted to do another episode rewrite and I thought chapter 13 had such great potential for family bonding and hurt/comfort. I hope you like it! ♡
Tumblr media
“Corvus. This is the place.”
Your husband’s voice broke the silence that had filled the cockpit, and you looked up to see a cloudy green planet steadily growing bigger beyond the glass. Bright glimpses of magma core peeked through the dense atmosphere. The display on the Crest’s instrument panel gave a friendly chirp and outlined the planet’s main hubs, one of which was the city of Calodan. Your stomach gave an unpleasant jolt at the name and you tried to still the slight trembling of your hands, looking for something to distract you from your impending arrival on the planet.
You held an unfinished project in your hands, a soft little baby romper made of navy blue cotton. Din had gotten you the fabric while you were staying on Naboo - though he’d gotten it for you to make something for yourself, he hadn’t minded when you told him you were going to use a little of it to make something for your babies. You’d already stitched up a handsome little shirt for your son, and now you were working on something for your new baby.
Resting your hand over your stomach, you gave a small sigh and thought over the last month. Omera had wanted you to try and steer clear of danger as much as possible, for your sake and the baby’s, but danger followed your little family with an uncanny determination. The Mandalorians you’d found on Trask had turned out to be an entirely different kind than the one you’d known, taking their helmets off as if their creed meant nothing, roping your husband into a dangerous, fruitless mission in exchange for their help. But they’d also helped save your little one, and you’d be forever indebted to them for it.
You shuddered. You couldn’t think about that day for long before you grew panicky, nervous to let your son out of your sight lest he be swallowed up like that again. You and Din had both had nightmares about it, about what could have happened to Din or your baby on that ship. You could have lost a child and been widowed in the blink of an eye had it not been for Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians, and the thought made you sick with fear and worry even now.
Then you’d gone to Nevarro, and Din had gone off on another mission to destroy an Imperial base. You and your husband had argued about it, but he eventually brought you around - Cara and Greef were your friends, and they’d always helped you when you needed it. It was time to return the favor, even if it meant you’d be fretting in the back of a schoolroom the entire time they were gone.
Your husband’s return hadn’t been the triumphant victory you’d expected - Din had rushed in, wasting no breath on explanations, and taken you and the baby back to the ship for a hasty departure. It was just your luck that your escape from Nevarro had devolved into a dogfight with Imperial TIE-fighters, and your poor husband had endured no small amount of ranting from you when things settled back down. You were angry and worried, petrified by the thought of the experiments the Imperial warlords wanted to perform on your little one.
And now, you were approaching the planet that sheltered the Jedi you’d been tasked to find. The Jedi you were then supposed to hand your baby over to, because she was one of “his kind”. You felt a now-familiar wash of unease come over you, and worried your bottom lip to try and keep it in check.
“I’ve detected a beacon,” Din said, looking over at the display. Your baby sat up on the dash next to him, watching his movements with interest.
Din worked around him, pressing buttons and flipping switches in preparation for landing. “I’m gonna start the landing cycle,” he said. He glanced down at your son. “You better get back in your seat.”
The baby didn’t move from the dash, giving a soft coo of protest. You noticed the silver handle was back on the gear shift and smiled a little, knowing that was what held your little one’s attention enough for him to disregard his dad’s instruction.
Din took his focus from the landing cycle long enough to realize his son hadn’t done as he was told.
“Hey, what did I tell you?” he said, in a mildly scolding tone. “Back in your seat.”
Your baby’s ears drooped. Setting aside your sewing project, you rose and gathered him into your arms.
“Oh, you poor thing,” you crooned, cuddling him close. “Your daddy’s so grumpy, isn’t he?”
He gave a babble of agreement, and Din huffed a laugh.
“I’ll be more grumpy if he tumbles off the dash while we’re landing.”
“That’s not true,” you told your baby. “Daddy would hold you and kiss it better. He couldn’t be grumpy with you if he tried.” As stoic as your husband seemed on the outside, he was as gentle as could be underneath all that armor.
He flipped another switch and looked over his shoulder at you.
“You alright, cyare?” he asked gently. “You’ve been pretty quiet today.”
Usually you could be counted on to keep up a steady stream of conversation if you decided to stay with Din in the cockpit rather than roam around the ship. For this trip, though, you’d been uncharacteristically quiet. You knew Din shared your fears about finally meeting this Jedi, but you were completely tangled up in knots about it and hadn’t wanted to burden him.
You shook your head and held your baby closer. “I’m fine. Just... tired, I guess.”
You were a little run down, especially since morning sickness had started to give you some trouble, but you’d had much worse and would muscle through it. Besides, you couldn’t really afford to slow down, and both you and Din knew it.
“I would have thought you’d be relieved to have a little peace and quiet,” you teased lightly. He’d told you when you first started courting that the Crest had never heard so much talking until you came aboard.
He chuckled. “I like listening to you talk, cyare.” He eased the Crest into the atmosphere, a task that was second nature after so many years with the same ship. He glanced over at the little romper you’d laid on the dash.
“You finished it?” he asked.
You picked it up; your baby grabbed it in his clawed hand.
“Gentle,” you reminded him. “This is for ik’aad, remember?” Din had used the Mandalorian word for “baby” to tell your son your happy news, and it had stuck. Even now, your little one’s ears perked up at the nickname.
You smiled when he brushed his fingers over the fabric with a gentler touch and gave a soft coo.
“I haven’t finished it yet,” you said to Din. “I want to do some embroidery on it, if I can find the right thread - I was thinking little snowflakes along the collar.”
Your baby would be born during the winter on Sorgan, and even though you knew it was early yet, you’d taken great comfort and joy in working on this outfit.
Din held out his hand. “May I see?”
You handed it to him, and it seemed delicate and very small in his big hands. He ran a finger over the collar.
“You’ve done a beautiful job so far, cyar’ika,” he said, and you felt your cheeks pink a little at the tenderness of his compliment.
“Thank you,” you said. You put your son down in your seat and took the romper from your husband’s hand.
“Stay put, and be good for dad,” you told your little one. “I’ll be right back.”
You gathered up your sewing odds and ends and took them down to the second level of the Crest, tucking them safely away in the small chest you kept your mending in. A shirt of Din’s that had torn at the shoulder seam was half-folded at the bottom, and you took a moment to neaten it and steady yourself before you went back up to the cockpit.
Ahsoka Tano was her name. It was the only thing you knew about her, besides the fact that she was a Jedi. You didn’t know what she looked like, or who she worked for, or how she would train your little one. She might be cruel and mean-tempered, for all you knew - how could you just hand your foundling over to her?
You and Din hadn’t really talked about it. Up until now, finding a Jedi had always seemed like something that might take years to accomplish. They were apparently very few and far between, and though you now knew it had been foolish to do so, you had never really given any great consideration to actually finding one, at least not so quickly. You and Din had loved your little one and cared for him as your own, even before the Armorer declared you a clan of three and heard your vows to adopt him. To hand him over to someone you knew nothing about - someone from an enemy race to the Mandalorians, no less - was unthinkable.
But you’d also vowed something else to the armorer that day. Together, you and Din had promised to find others of your foundling’s kind and return him to them. It was not a vow you took lightly, and you knew Din would no sooner break his promise than he would give up the Way.
You straightened your shoulders and stood. No matter what happened on this planet, Din would need you. His struggle between the love he had for his foundling and the loyalty he had to the Way would not be an easy thing to overcome, and you wouldn’t leave him to face it alone.
You made your way back up to the cockpit, and you heard your little one babbling away before you came through the doors. Din was nodding and responded with interest despite the baby’s chatter not really meaning anything, and you felt your chest tighten. This was going to be harder than you thought.
Din landed the Crest in a clearing among the forest of charred, skeletal trees surrounded by a sickly fog. You wondered if the air was even breathable. A quick check to the Crest’s display showed that it was, but the greenish tinge of the smog only added to your unease as the ship settled to the ground.
“I thought Bo-Katan said this was a forest planet,” you said.
Din started the shutdown cycle. “She did. Something must have happened to destroy the forests, and I’m guessing it wasn’t an accident. It probably has something to do with that city we passed over.”
You looked up at his helm as he stood. “The city we’re headed to?”
“Right again,” he said wryly. He looked over your shoulder to the dead trees outside. “Do you want to stay here while I go check out the city?”
As if on cue, a low groaning sound came from outside - only a very big creature could have made such a noise, and it didn’t sound like anything you’d like to meet on your own.
You crossed your arms over your chest and pressed closer to him. “No, I want to go with you.” You didn’t want to be on this planet anyway, and being separated from Din would only make it worse.
He ran a hand over your back to soothe you. “Okay,” he agreed. “Are you ready to leave?”
You nodded, but you didn’t pull away from him yet. His chestplate felt cool against your skin, and you allowed yourself a moment of comfort in his arms.
He cradled your face in his hands and leaned his helmet against your head.
“It’s gonna be alright, cyar’ika,” he said gently. “We’ll just take it one step at a time, ok? We might not even find her here.”
You pulled back then, just enough to look up at his visor. You didn’t need to see his face to read the tension and unease he held in his whole body; he was just as hesitant to go looking for Ahsoka Tano as you were.
You bit the inside of your cheek. “One step at a time,” you agreed.
He nodded and relaxed a little. He gave you a final gentle tap of his helm against your head, a reassuring, comforting kiss, then beckoned to your little one.
“Come on, ad’ika,” he said, taking him from the seat. “Let’s go see what we can find.”
You followed Din to the second level, and he set your baby down after he’d come down the ladder to let him stretch his little legs. Your little one toddled after Din as the ramp lowered and revealed the bleak landscape you’d seen through the glass. The dead forest stretched in every direction, broken only by the great hulking shapes of slow-moving creatures in the distance.
Seeing his father had stopped at the foot of the ramp, your baby stopped too - top heavy and struggling to balance on the ramp, he sat midway down the slope with a little coo. You noticed he had the handle to the gear shift in his hand and was contentedly watching the way it shone in the weak sunlight.
“Did daddy give you that?” you asked, hunkering down next to him. He held it up to you and gave a soft babble.
Din turned. “Did I give him what?” He saw the ball in your baby’s hand and closed the distance between you in a few steps.
“What did I say about that?” Din scolded, extending his hand. The baby whined but reluctantly handed over his prize.
“This needs to stay in the ship,” Din chided. He tucked the ball into a pocket on his belt and straightened, looking out over the terrain again. You gave your son a consoling kiss on his soft ear; he chirped happily at you and you couldn’t help but smile back.
“Not much to see out here,” Din said. He looked back at the two of you. “I’ve never had dealings with the Jedi before.”
Neither of you had, and his guess was as good as yours as to whether Jedi usually made their homes on planets as seemingly inhospitable as this. You knew nothing of their customs, their way of life - perhaps they didn’t even train ones as little as your baby, or were still hostile to Mandalorians. The only way to know would be to find the one you were looking for.
Din leaned down to scoop your baby up, cradling him in the crook of his arm, and offered his hand to you to help you stand. He gave your hand a quick squeeze before letting go.
“Let’s head into town,” he said. “See if we can pick up a lead.”
You stayed by his side as he walked to the edge of the clearing, and the Crest whirred as it drew the ramp back up and settled in to wait. You’d landed far enough away from the city to leave your ship better guarded against thieves, but it wouldn’t be a long walk to reach the city.
The forest closed in the further you went from your ship - even though they were rotted, the trees were numerous and large. They loomed in the fog, invisible until you were right on top of them, and it set your teeth on edge. When he was carrying the baby, Din preferred to have his other hand free to grab his blaster if the need should arise; to oblige him but still attempt to soothe your jangled nerves, you held a handful of his cloak and kept close to him that way.
All three of your kept quiet as you walked. You were in no mood for cheery conversation, and Din was well accustomed to silence on a bounty hunt. Even though Ahsoka Tano wasn’t a bounty, you knew your husband would employ those same skills to find her in the city; Din was an excellent hunter, and would most likely find her quickly. You didn’t know if that was a good thing or not.
Just before you reached the city, Din stopped and asked you to take the baby.
“Keep him close, cyare,” he said as your little one snuggled against your chest. “I don’t want either of you wandering.”
He knew he didn’t have to remind you, but you also knew it helped soothe his nerves. You put your hand on his arm, hoping to reassure him.
“We’ll stay close,” you told him. Though you were occasionally tempted to break his “stay by my side” rule on more colorful, inviting planets - you’d gotten a thorough reaming out from your husband one time after you’d wandered off and gotten lost in a bazaar on a Mid-Rim planet and made him sick with worry - you wanted to stick close on this planet.
“Should we do the nursemaid, this time?” you asked. A Mandalorian accompanied by a young woman and a baby would always call attention, and you often playacted to keep your identity as his wife a secret. You and your little one made him vulnerable, and were therefore a higher prize to be won or better bargaining chip to own.
Din’s posture stiffened.
“No,” he said firmly. “If anyone asks, we’ll tell them the truth. You’re my wife, and anyone who wants to get at you or our baby will have to go through me first.”
You felt a strange mix of apprehension and pride, hesitance and desire. His protective nature had always been something you loved about him, but he wasn’t usually this keyed up before a hunt. You reminded yourself this wasn’t a regular hunt you were on; neither of you had any idea what you’d find in the city, and you knew he’d been feeling the same nervousness you had as you came closer to finding what you sought.
“Okay,” you agreed. “We’ll tell them the truth.”
He seemed to relax a little - he must have known you’d picked up on his tone, and was thankful you’d taken it in stride. He brushed his hand over the baby’s head, then touched his fingers to your cheek.
“Thank you,” he said. “I love you.”
You took a steadying breath and held your baby closer. “I love you too.”

chapter iii. láthi: the lie
iv. the mistake The pouring rain is the first thing Y/N hears when she opens her eyes, the cold wind outside coming through her window makes her pulling her blanket up until her neck, not caring about making someone lying next to her whining of losing the warmth from the thick blanket that wrapped his body earlier.
She stays still, cocooned her naked body to keep the warmth and turn her back to Harry, who seems no longer bothered by the cold that morning. Yet, he stirs a little in his sleep. Unconsciously wrapping his arm around her hips and bringing her closer.
Y/N really wants to fall asleep again, but the dream she just had earlier a bit bothered her.
In the dream, she was standing alone in the middle of a hallway in a massive castle with a high ceiling that she could barely see it. She was just there alone. When she stepped her foot to find about what was the place, she saw a large bright ball approaching her along with several small balls twinkling. She didn't know what it was, but they seemed to want to lead her out of the place. And that’s what she did.
Once she got out, the light balls were no longer there. And now, she saw the endless ocean with thick fog covering its surface. She could faintly hear the flow of fast water stream.
She was confused.
Where was she?
“Your Majesty.”
She never snapped her head this fast, hearing someone addressed her with such a title. She was the only one there, who else did they mean if not her?
She found a girl who appeared to be a maid, looking at her timidly. The young girl looked scared, but scared of what?
Y/N hadn't yet had time to open her mouth, yet someone embraced her from behind and made the maid leave immediately.
“Darling..”
The voice.
She recognised the voice.
Unfortunately, when she wanted to turn around to see who was holding her, she awoke from her sleep with extreme confusion.
What's the meaning of that?
She blinks her eyes when she feels her neck being kissed from behind, making her slowly turn around and find Harry staring at her with his sleepy eyes.
“Good morning, love.” his lips draw a small smile, “You wake up first.”
“Mhm,” she hums softly while brushing away his unruly curls from his forehead, “The pouring rain woke me up. And it's cold.”
"Cold? I should be the one who feels cold because you took the blanket." he groans, snuggling closer to her warm body. Y/N laughs softly, her hands stroking his cold cheek.
“Are you hungry? I want to make something before my granny wakes up.”
“Sometimes it makes me feel a little bad when your grandmother is sleeping in the other room while we have sex and try not to be noisy. Yet, at the end of the day, we couldn't hold back the screaming.” he speaks softly while his arms creeping under the blanket and rubbing Y/N's hips with his thumb, “I hope she's not traumatized.”
“You're such a filthy animal when it comes to sex.”
“That's why I prefer my place.”
“Harry..”
“Okay, okay.” he chuckles, “Go make something delicious, I'll wait here.”
Y/N just rolls her eyes before picking up her discarded clothes on the floor and get dressed. Before she leaves the room, she doesn't forget to give her man a delicate kiss on the lips making the man's heart soars in affection.
When she gets to the kitchen, she's surprised to see Ilitia who had prepared the breakfast on the dining table. With a small smile, Y/N comes closer to her grandmother and give the old woman a kiss on the cheek.
“Buongiorno nonna.”
“Mia cara..”
"I just wanted to make something for breakfast but it seems you beat me first." Y/N hums while sitting on the chair nearby, looking at Ilitia who just turn off the stove. The grandmother just smiles while taking off her apron.
“Non preoccuparti! I knew you were going to wake up late. So, I thought I could do something for you and Harry." she shrugs, "Are you not tired? Your scream was loud last night."
“Nonna!”
Y/N's face flushed red when Ilitia teases her while wiggling her eyebrow, she blushed even more after her grandmother gives her the I-knew-what-you-did look. Were they that loud last night?
“I thought you were already asleep.” she mumbles under her breath while fumbling with her fingers, avoiding the eye contact with her dear grandmother who just admitted that she heard they had sex last night. Well, this is not her first time hearing her granddaughter having sex with the guy named Harry, but what she heard last night kind of traumatized her. She doesn't know this horny couple could be wild if they wanted to.
"I did, mia cara. But, the way you guys screamed hurt my hearing and made me awake.”
Y/N slumped her shoulder in embarrassment, in the bottom of her heart, she promised to be more careful and maybe keeping their hands off each other when Ilitia around.
"My dear. I know I have no experience with love and things like that but are you sure? Are you sure about him? Because Harry is the first man you take home and I see you really into each other. I just don't want you to get heartbreak if something goes wrong."
This is the first time for Ilitia to talk seriously to her granddaughter, the look on her face so careful and concern. She doesn't want her only granddaughter to feel hurt from choosing the wrong person. This is the first time Y/N has shown she really likes someone and it seems that her feelings are much deeper than Ilitia thought.
"I really, really like him. I've never felt like this with anyone. He's a good man and.. I'm really happy with where we are now."
“Nonostante non ci ufficializzi.” she adds with a sad smile.
It's right. They admitted to liking and adoring each other, not hesitate to kiss each other and even have sex. But, Harry never openly make their relationship official as a boyfriend and girlfriend. That's all enough for her. The most important thing is they admit their feelings and her feeling isn't one-sided.
She really wants Harry to make official of their relationship, yet she understands that he's not someone who's outspoken about romance. Just each other know where they stand, what they feel, and all set. They're in a relationship. But, is it a boyfriend-girlfriend thing? She isn't sure.
One thing she knows and the matter is.. they live the relationship as it should.
While Y/N is happy yet a little worried about her relationship with Harry, the legal wife of him, Selene, is angry and also worried about her husband. She had just returned to Centauri with anger fueling her chest. She just catches her Harry whom she loves so much, sneaking behind her back with another woman and seems to have feelings for that woman. Not just a woman, a mortal human who is far below them. What even human compares to Goddess, like her?
She doesn't know what her husband was thinking and seeing in that woman. She's much honourable than that creature.
She wants revenge, yet she doesn't want to get her hands dirty. She has to gather a lot of evidence before carrying out her plans.
Fine if Harry doesn't want to be honest and listen to her.
Like she said before, she would make him regret for ignoring her.
“Kynigos!”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
One of her trusted men immediately approaches her when the Goddess calls him. He bent down for a few seconds before returning to his feet like a tough fighter.
“I have a mission to carry out. Bring Khosaid, Aharo, and Helios to the throne room now.”
The man just nods, leaving a smirking Selene who's plotting something inside her head. She has hundreds of plans to get Harry back into her arms and deter him. No one can take her husband from her. No one. . . . .
Selene is wondering out loud.
What kind of human could make her husband turn away from her.
She doesn't know the name, doesn't know anything about her but her face.
She admits that the human is beautiful, but still she’s more beautiful she thinks, and look innocent. Yet, behind the innocence, the human is even worse. She doesn’t know how Harry got hooked on his secret lover.
And she wants to know.
That’s why she’s now standing a few metres away from a certain flower shop. According to her spy, the girl works as a florist, also she just found out that her Harry often buys flowers there. So, she thinks it all started with him buying flowers and they met regularly. If it isn’t her husband’s affair, she won’t want to come down and mingle with the humans on Earth. Selene avoids that very much.
“Hello, can I help you?”
What a coincidence.
The woman she was looking for, is standing in front of her with a smile formed on her lips that she hated. The lips that her husband savoured beside her, the lips that she's sure did something more than just a kiss..
“Do you have Anemones?” Selene quickly pulls her focus back, doesn’t want the woman to be suspicious since she almost throwing a glare, “The red ones, actually.”
“Yes, we do. How much do you want?” Y/N immediately put on her gloves and looking for a scissor, not realising that her new customer had been gripping it for some reason.
“Make it a bouquet.”
"Sure! Let me find my sci– Oh, thanks!" Before she finishes her sentence, Selene quickly holds out the scissor right in front of her. To her surprise, her customer seems to be pointing the scissor in front of her face rather than holding out because how quick it was in her face.
“My.. darling said this is the best flower shop in Syracuse,” Selene begins, her eyes staring at Y/N who’s picking up her order, “And now I know.. why.”
“I think your boyfriend is too much. But, thank you.” Y/N smiles, “I guess he once bought flowers here?”
“My husband,” Selene corrects her, “And.. yeah, I guess. He often buys flowers here. Or I could say, always.”
“Your husband? You’re so lucky then, having a romantic husband.” she beams while tying up the Red Anemones, “I should have known him if he always buys flowers here.”
“Mhm. You could say that.” Selene silently rolls her eyes, feeling sick of this nonsense talk. But, she has to be patient so she can get what she wants. Her eyes looking at the woman in front of her closely, from the head to toe. She doesn’t find see anything interesting about Y/N, and why could her husband be attracted to her, get into her trap, and was lulled into forgetting the fact that he’s a married man.
“You’re lovely, you know that? It’s a bit embarrassing you work just as a florist.” Selene shakes her head, “I wonder, a lovely girl like you must have a boyfriend already.”
“Something like that.” Y/N chuckles, handing out the finished bouquet to her customer.
“Ooh, he’s lucky then.” hums Selene, “Or.. you are lucky then. Because I believe, Italian man is so damn romantic.”
“He is,” her cheeks flushed, indicating that what Selene said is true. She smiles shyly and it makes Selene feel even more annoyed, “But, he isn’t Italian. So..”
Enough.
Selene no longer wants to hear the words from the woman in front of her. The Goddess immediately take the money out from her pocket and gives it to Y/N without asking the price. She quickly leaving the confused Y/N without saying another word.
Did she say something wrong earlier? Y/N wonders.
She shrugs. Maybe the woman is in a hurry, she thinks.
Not long after, she sees from a distance that Harry had just closed his car door. With a blinding smile, the man walks towards her with something in his hand.
“Hi!”
“Hi, Harry.”
The man quickly gives her a peck on the lips, before he hands her a paper bag from his hold, “Here, I brought you lunch.”
"Why?" Y/N smiles, slowly take the bag and peeked inside.
“I know you sometimes forget your lunch. Then I stopped by at the nearest restaurant before I got here.” he shrugs, “That habit will get you sick. And I don’t want you to get sick.”
“Thank you,” she grins, “Come inside. We can eat together behind the counter, Mia will be here soon.”
Y/N grabs Harry’s hand to follow her inside. Luckily, her boss didn’t come today so she can freely sneak him inside without any worries.
“You’re off tomorrow, right?” he asks when she’s taking out the lunch box, “I want to take you somewhere.”
“Yep,” she confirms, “Where to?”
“It’s secret.” he winks, “But, you’ll definitely like it.” . . . .
Y/N has an off day today and like Harry promised yesterday, he takes the advantage to take her out for a date. A date like normal humans usually do. It’s just one day trip in Marina di Ragusa, yet he already rented a private boat for both of them to enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean Sea until the sunsets. When they arrive at the port, someone was waiting for him. Harry and the person talk for a while and soon give him the key, and not forget to wish them a nice trip.
“This is unusual,” Y/N hums while they walk to their boat, “But, I like it.”
“Oh, you’re going to love it once we hit the water.”
The man carefully helps her to climb into the boat, with the help of the dock clerk of course. Once he joins her in behind the steering wheel, he puts the key into the ignition, letting the engine to roar and ready to sail.
“Ready?” he averts his gaze to the girl next to him, lips forming a smile seeing her looked all giddy and excited.
“Of course!”
He shakes his head of how cute she is. After the dock clerk gives him a clear to sail, he doesn’t hesitate to show his skill to drive a boat expertly. In fact, he’s so carried away by the sea breeze hitting his face as they started to move away from the dock, and makes him pick up the speed.
“You’re expert at driving a boat, huh?” Y/N teases him, her eyes occasionally glance at him while looking at the distant coast.
“One of my hidden talent, actually.” Harry jokes, before making a sharp turn that caused the water splash over them. He let out a laugh while Y/N groans because her clothes are wet a little.
“I told you to bring spare clothes, didn’t I?”
“All of this was planned, wasn’t’ it?” she pouts, “You wanted to get me wet so you told me to bring spare clothes!”
“We’re on the water, so it makes sense if our clothes get wet.”
“I know, but – Harry!”
She screams as the boat suddenly accelerated, making her startled and reflexively grabs his arm. When they slowed down in the middle, she slaps his hand on the wheel.
“You want to knock me overboard?” she glares at him, “Don’t do that!”
“You have to see your own face!” he giggles, “It was funny.”
“No, it wasn’t.”
“Good thing that you’re still on your seat. If you were standing, you could fall in and drown.”
“Sometimes I can’t trust you behind the wheel, you know?” she murmurs under her breath, and now looking out over the endless expanse of the sea, “And now we’re in the middle of the sea. What we will do?”
“Technically, not.” he shrugs, “Well, I just want you to feel the calm water. Isn’t this calming?”
“It is, H. But, I’m just afraid that if we run out of fuel and cannot come back.” she laughs, eyeing him with a raised eyebrow.
“We can swim. I’ll hold you tight if you can’t swim, though.”
“How romantic of you.”
“Second to none.”
Y/N chuckles at his silliness. The way his unique thinking always amazes her, and it seems Harry always has his own thought. And sometimes, she cannot guess it.
“I just want to cherish our time together. I just want to be alone with you and enjoying each other’s company.” he starts, “I know sometimes the world doesn’t work the way we want but I’m always here for you.”
“Harry…” she coos, “I know the world is too hard and cruel sometimes but I’ll always be by your side. No matter what.”
She doesn’t know where this comes from, him talking like this isn’t his usual. Like there’s something he tried to convey implicitly, it’s clear from the way he looks at her. He doesn’t smile, lips pressed together but his eyes are so soft.
“Promise?” he then cheekily put his pinky finger for her to intertwine, and of course she happily locking their pinky’s together.
“Always.”
Harry lovingly grabs her face and kisses her dearly. Both of them closed their eyes, letting the moment drown between them. He smiles into the kiss as does she. Still locking their lips together, tasting each other, and melting their feelings into one.
They hurriedly untied their lips when the boat rocked suddenly, making them laugh.
“We shouldn’t be here to long,” Y/N nervously giggles, “It seems the ocean hates us.”
“Fine then, we’re going back to the coast.”
Before he drives them back, he pulls her head towards him and kisses her forehead.
“What was that for?”
“You’re just too cute.”
From the very distant dock, the woman can see what’s happening with her own eyes. She understands what’s going on between them, their feelings, yet she has to make a decision before it’s too late. . . . .
“You’re one step closer, Your Majesty.”
"You're very close to your destiny but you haven't realised that."
“You must be careful.”
Harry gasps when he opens his eyes, watching the huge waves roll away from him as if it had finished delivering the messages. His eyes wandering at the reflection of the moon on the surface of the ocean before his eyes. Then, he remembers Centauri, Selene, his mission. And.. Y/N.
Sweet sweet Y/N.
How come he likes a mortal human, especially he already has a wife who’s always waiting for him to come home every day?
How could he believe that the human made him fall in love with her?
How could he feel carried away and complacent, making him forget his wife when he was with Y/N?
Those kisses, those touches, their skins against each other.
Their lust for one another.
The desire.
Harry knows what he committed, yet he couldn’t stop.
He cannot.
What if Selene finds out? His people and his realm know that he's cheating with a mortal human and having affair?
They won’t blame him.
They’re going to go after Y/N, and he doesn’t want that. But, he doesn’t want to let go of her.
While Harry was standing on the beach and contemplating his thought, Y/N was arguing with her grandmother who suddenly forbade her to be close to Harry without giving a definite reason.
"Why are you suddenly against my relationship with Harry, granny? You never said anything before?" Y/N asks quietly, staring at Ilitia who's looking at her with a gaze she cannot interpret. Ilitia just sighs, paused for a moment to choose the right words to say.
“I just.. there’s something wrong with him that I feel but I can’t really say. Especially, I don’t want you to get hurt later because he didn’t say anything about your relationship, did he?” Ilitia gives her a plea look, “If he’s good man, he’ll make clear what kind of relationship you two have.”
"He's a good man, granny. He takes care of me well. He's always nice with you and why don't you like him?" she fights, "I thought you like him.."
“I do, mia cara. I just–”
"If you don't want to tell me, I won't listen to you." Y/N stomping her feet before leaving Ilitia like a grumpy child. She doesn't understand why Ilitia suddenly forbids her to see Harry even though her grandmother seemed fine before. She gets suspicious since Ilitia won't tell her the reason behind of all this and she thinks it's odd.
When she just steps out from her porch, she sees Harry who just gets out of his car. Her mood gets lighten seeing him who comes to her house.
“Harry!”
“Love..”
The pair kiss each other immediately when they get into one another’s arms. Y/N smiles into the kiss, feeling the joy while Harry stroking her hips with his thumbs. They break the kiss shortly after and putting their forehead against each other.
“What are you doing outside on nights like this?” he hums, rubbing her nose with his own.
“I kinda.. arguing with granny for some reason.” she puckers her mouth, making him give a quick peck on her lips before backing away.
“Why? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Granny asked me to stay away from you.”
Harry is the one who frowned this time. He didn't mishear, did he? Why on earth did Ilitia ask her granddaughter to step back on him? He made no mistake. Why?
"She doesn't have a valid reason yet she still remains adamant against our.. relationship." she answers his unspoken question, "And that's why I'm here."
“Want me to talk with her, love? Maybe there was something she was doubting about?”
“Are you sure?”
“Gladly.”
Without another word, Harry takes Y/N's hand to follow him from behind. Slowly, he opens the door and finds Ilitia pacing in the living room – looking all confused and anxious.
“Good evening, Ilitia.”
“Granny..”
“Mia cara!”
The old woman quickly pulls her granddaughter from Harry, making the young couple shocked by her act. Ilitia stares at Y/N and him in turn, before standing to shield Y/N from the man who just escorted her granddaughter back home.
“You better go home, Harry.” Ilitia warns him, “And please, never come back.”
“Did I something wrong, Ilitia?” Harry confusedly asks, “Why are you suddenly like this?”
“I don’t like you.” Ilitia scoffs, “My granddaughter is better off without you.”
“Granny!” Y/N cries out, “Why did you say that? You were fine with him before. He didn’t do anything wrong!”
“Ilitia, I apologise if I made a mistake. But, please. If you don’t like me, please tell me the reason so I can fix it.”
"The way you can fix it by staying away from Y/N, and forget her." Ilitia hiss, "I don't want my granddaughter to get hurt if she's still with a man like you."
"You're talking nonsense, granny. You don't even have a clear reason why I–"
“Y/N Y/L/N!”
Y/N flinches. This is the first time in her life that her grandmother yelled at her and called her full name. She's sad and ashamed by the way Ilitia treats her like a child. Never once was Ilitia like this before. Her heart sink and her tears are ready to burst. Before Ilitia and Harry see her crying, she quickly leaves them both to burst into her room, making them both hear how loud she slams her door.
"Ilitia, I don't know why you hate me so suddenly. If I made a mistake, then I'm sorry. But, please give me a chance to prove to you that I won't hurt her. We both love each other and…"
"Love?" she scoffs, cutting him off, "Are you sure about that? Don't tell lies to me. We both know what's your intention; you're just fooling around with Y/N. My granddaughter's future is bright even more if you stop this nonsense. Whatever you're having with her is just bullshit!"
“Excuse me?”
“I know who you’re, Harry. Don’t fool me.” she pushes him out, which makes him wonder why this old woman is strong enough for her age, “Just leave before you regret everything. I just want to protect my Y/N.”
Harry winces as Ilitia slams the door right on his face, making the hanging pot next to it rattling. He doesn't understand what Ilitia told him. What makes him even more confused, why did she dislike him so much? He was always nice to her and didn't do anything wrong. He's always trying to please her beloved granddaughter and makes a nice impression on her.
Maybe Ilitia was just tired and had a lot of thoughts that made her like that. He hopes tomorrow everything will be fine and back to normal. He wants Ilitia to like him because he knows how much that means to his Y/N. . . . .
When Harry opened his eyes this morning, he felt something strange.
That day was gloomier and sorrow, as if a storm was coming. The sun even seemed shy to shine on the Earth, dark clouds clustered over the sky. And when he passed the shore, the waves looked fiercer than usual.
And, he doesn’t know why.
The unexpected scene a few days ago between him, Y/N, and Ilitia still nagging his mind. He hasn't met Y/N again because he doesn't want to annoy her grandmother, meanwhile, he also gives Ilitia time and space to calm down.
He was thinking about what caused Ilitia to despise him.
He and Y/N never quarrelled, he never made her cry. Their so-called-relationship is fine. Then, what?
Then, he remembers Y/N’s face that night. She looked sad, obviously wanting to cry yet she holds back. He never saw her so sad, he always saw her smile and laugh even when she was tired.
Oh, Harry misses her.
He misses her smile, her laugh. Everything.
He hadn’t seen her for days, but during that time they’d been texting each other. He couldn’t call her because she was worried that her grandmother would hear them. He also couldn’t see her at work since, according to Mia, Y/N asked to take leave. When he confirmed it to her, she didn’t deny it. Ilitia forced her to take leave because her grandmother knew Harry would try to see her.
But, on that day, his heart forces him to meet her, whatever the risk. He hopes that during the few days he didn’t see her, her grandmother will soften up on him a little.
So, he takes his keys and quickly drive to her house.
On the way Y/N’ house, he then remembers his wife who hadn’t sent him a message like usual. Every week, he would receive a roll of parchment about his wife’s longing letters, and that made him feel less lonely. Selene would tell him her daily life or whatever she wanted to tell him.
But, that feels like it’s been a long time.
She stopped send him the letters since his return to Centauri that time.
And he wonders, why.
However, with Y/N by his side, his loneliness was relieved. His void of love and affection is perfectly fulfilled because of her. That woman always showered him with care, attention, and.. love.
Love is a strong word, Harry knows that.
But, he feels it. He feels it towards her.
Yet, his heart hesitated. How could he love two women at once, at the same time? How could he fall in love with another woman when his wife is always waiting for him at home.
That's what made Harry never clearly declare his relationship with Y/N. He never makes their relationship official as a boyfriend and girlfriend. She knows his feelings and so does he. Their feelings aren't unrequited, and that's enough for him for their relationship.
It’s like he’s having affair. And he’s very well aware. However, he cannot let her go. He’s addicted to the woman. He sounds selfish, he doesn’t want to lose Selene if she finds out, but he also doesn’t want to let Y/N go.
He knows his behaviour hurts the two women, and he wants to be selfish and keep them around. He cannot imagine losing one of them, or both. He loves them too much to lose them.
Strangely, it only took a few weeks for him to fall in love with Y/N, but it took years for Selene to win his heart.
Although there is some Selene's behaviour that he doesn't like, but he cannot deny that it was Selene who never got tired trying to capture his heart. While many females threw themselves at him, she remained patient and tried until he finally melted at her.
Meanwhile, Y/N.
The darling, sweet Y/N.
She didn’t overtly show her efforts to win his heart. Yet, her shy and sweet gestures that melted him. She has this factor that made him unable to get the woman out of his mind, and let her creep down and capturing his heart.
If Harry likens his wife to a fierce woman, Y/N is more shy one who’s gentle and very careful with everything. They’re very different, and he never knew he could fall in love with two opposites females.
Nevertheless, he doesn’t want to think about it now. All he thinks are his longing for Y/N. He cannot wait to see her.
When he arrives at her house, he gets out of his car with a smile painting on his lips. He didn't forget to buy a basket of her favourite flowers when he stopped by the middle of the trip. He's a little confused to see her door is wide open. Were she and Ilitia having guests? But, their house looks deserted.
With confident steps, Harry rushed inside. Yet, his frown gets deeper when he sees the living room was messy. Everything scattered on the floor. Something must have happened.
“Y/N?”
“Ilitia?”
He calls them loud but no one answered.
This is strange.
He’s getting inside, seeing the kitchen and dining room empty. Then, he sees Ilitia’s bedroom which the door is closed. His mind begins to diverge, thinking about nonsensical things. His heart starts to race fast when the house feels even more empty with the two hosts nowhere to be found.
Then, he faintly hears dimmed sound from Y/N's bedroom. Without thinking twice, he immediately runs and seeing the door was open. His eyes found a scene unfold that makes him feels the time freeze and everything stopped. *

If Need Be
At this point I don't know if it makes sense to anticipate everything with a brief description of the plot, but for all the possible new readers who will run into this  chapter and for some strange reason haven’t seen the previous ones, this is the story of Elva, a half-elf of Mirkwood, leaving with the Fellowship in place of Legolas. The actual tale begins shortly after Gandalf's death, and it all centers around how Elva's presence impacts not only on the mission but on Haldir's life.
In this part, the Fellowship finally leaves Caras Galadhon to resume their Quest.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Words: 2448
In the morning, as they were beginning to pack their slender goods, some Elves went to Haldir’s talan to bring many gifts of food, mostly in the form of very thin cakes, made of a meal that was baked a light brown on the outside and inside was the colour of cream, and a hooded cloak.
"For someone who spends most of his time at the border, you are very popular," Elva commented, after thanking yet another visitor.
"They fear I may not come back, and they tell me that my brothers will be helped in every possible way,” the marchwarden explained. “These are lembas, or waybread, more strengthening than any food made by Men and more pleasant than the cram made in Dale. It must be eaten little at a time, for these things are given to serve when all else fails and will keep sweet for many days, if they’re unbroken and left in their leaf-wrappings.”
“Those are fair garments, though,” Aragorn commented, stroking the light but warm silken fabric, the same the Galadhrim and the court wove. It was hard to say of what colour they were, as they seemed to be grey with the hue of twilight under the trees and yet, if they were moved or set in another light, they were green as shadowed leaves or brown as fallow fields by night; in the dusk, they looked like water under the stars, and even the brooch that fastened them, a green leaf, was veined with silver.
“They must be from the Lady,” guessed their host. “Yet, as you said, they are garments, not armours, and they won’t turn shaft or blade, only serve us well in staying out of the Enemy’s sight.”
"They seem to have done their work so far," Elva said, trying to cheer up the room and hinting that after all his wanderings he was still alive.
"Sure, and a considerable number of blades to the throat were also needed," he replied, after which silence fell, and was maintained as they walked through Caras Galadhon’s empty green streets. In the trees above them, many voices were murmuring and singing, and flashed of barely comprehensible words followed them to the lawn where the other members of the Fellowship waited and down the southward slopes of the hill, to the great gate hung with lamps until the white bridge, after which they took a path that went off into a deep thicket of mallorn trees and passed on, winding through rolling woodlands of silver shadow, leading them ever down, southwards and eastwards, to the shores of the River, laid in a shining lawn of grass studded with golden elanor that glinted in the sun. On the right and west the Silverlode flowed glittering and on the left and east the Great River rolled its broad waters, deep and dark, with woodlands still marching as far as eyes could see on the southwards shores, bleak and bare, as no mallorn lifted its gold-hung boughs beyond the Land of Lorien. On the bank of the Silverlode, at some distance up from the meeting of the streams, there were moored many boats and barges, some brightly painted, shining with silver, gold and green tones, and some either white or grey, like the three that had been prepared for the travellers. Haldir threw some coils of slender but strong rope in each, and Sam went to inspect the workmanship, similar to that of the cloaks they wore.
“They are made of hithlain,” their guide explained, anticipating his question. “Had I known this craft delighted you, I could’ve taught you much, but at the moment I think you’ll have to settle for a theoretical explanation during breaks.”
Sam seemed satisfied by the pact, and went to take his place with Frodo on the boat captained by Aragorn; Boromir thus settled for Merry and Pippin, and Haldir for Elva and Gimli, with whom he had most bonded during their stay in Lothlorien. The boats were moved and steered with short-handled paddles that had broad leaf-shaped blades. When all was ready, their guide led them on a trial up the Silverlode, where the current was swift and they went forward slowly. Sam sat in the bows, clutching the sides, and looking back wistfully to the shore, the sunlight glittering on the water dazzling his eyes. As they passed beyond the green field of the Tongue, the trees drew down to the river’s brink: here and there golden leaves tossed and floated on the rippling stream and the air was very bright and still, bringing only silence except for the high distant song of larks. They turned a sharp bend in the river, and there, sailing proudly down the stream towards them, they saw a swan of great size. The water rippled on either side of the white breast beneath its curving neck and its beak shone like burnished gold, while its eyes glinted like jet set in yellow stones; its huge white wings were half lifted, and suddenly they perceived that it was a ship, wrought and carved with elven-skill in the likeness of a bird. Two elves clad in white steered it with black paddles and in the midst of the vessel sat Celeborn, with his wife behind him, tall and white, a crown of golden flowers in her hair and a harp in her hands. Sand and sweet was the sound of her voice in the cool clear air as she told the story of gold leave shook by the wind. As if the first vision of the Mirror had awakened in Elva an ancient memory that didn’t belonged to her, she too sang of Lorien’s first winter with bare and leafless trees, but she didn’t have the heart to finish, because it spoke of the departure beyond the Sea, of that journey that tasted like defeat and she could never face, even if she wanted to. Haldir stayed his boat as the Swan-ship drew alongside, so the Lady could tell them she had come to bid their last farewell and to speed their boats with blessings from her land. The half-elf wasn’t quite sure their intentions were that noble, but she said nothing, and ate lunch with the royals on the grass, as Celeborn suggested, speaking again of their journey.
“As you go down the water,” said the Lord, “you’ll find that the trees will fail, and you’ll come to a barren country. There the River flows in stony vales amid high moors, until at last after many leagues come the sheep shores of the tall island of Tindrock, that we call Tol Brandir. With great noise and smoke, the waters fall over the cataracts of Rauros down into the Nindalf, the Wetwang, as it’s called in your tongue.; that is a wide region of sluggish fen, where the stream becomes tortuous and much divided and the Entwash flows in by many mouths from the Forest of Fangorn in the west. About that stream, on this side of the Great River, lies Rohan, while on the further side are the bleak hills of the Emyn Muil. The wind blows from the East there, for they look out over the Dead Marshes and the Noman-lands to Cirith Gorgor and the black gates of Mordor. Boromir, and any that go with him seeking Minas Tirith, will do well to leave the Great River above Rauros and cross the Entwash before it finds the marshes. Yet they shouldn’t go too far up that stream, nor risk becoming entangled in the Forest of Fangorn, a strange, little known land, but doubtless, you don’t need this warning.”
“Indeed we have heard of Fangorn in Minas Tirith,” replied the person most concerned. “But what I’ve heard seems to me for the most part old wives’ tales, such as we tell to our children. All that lies north to Rohan is now to us so far away that fancy can wander freely there, but it’s now many lives of men since any of us visited it to prove or disprove the legends that have come down from distant years. Anyway, I have myself been at whiles in Rohan, but I’ve never crossed it northwards, although, when I was sent out as a messenger, I passed through the Gap by the skirts of the White Mountains, and crossed the Isen and the Greyflood into Northerland. A long and wearisome journey it was, four hundred leagues I reckoned it, and it took me many months, for I lost my horse at Tharbad, at the fording of the Greyflood. After that and the road I have trodden with this Company, I don’t much doubt I shall find a way through Rohan, and Fangorn too, if need be.”
“Then I need say no more!” exclaimed Celeborn. “But don’t despise the lore that has come down from distant years, for oft it may chance that old wives keep in memory word of things that once were needful for the wise to know.”
At those advice, Galadriel rose from the grass and taking a cup from one of her maidens she filled it with white mead and gave it to her husband.
“Now it’s time to drink for our farewell,” she said, and when they had all done as she commanded, chairs were set for her and Celeborn. For a while she looked upon her guests, but at last, she called each in turn, offering them gifts, starting from Aragorn, whom she addressed as the leader of the Fellowship, giving him a great stone clear green in colour, set in a silver brooch that was wrought in the likeness of an eagle with outspread wings.
“This was left in my care to be given to you, should you pass through this land; I gave it to my daughter Celebrian and she gave it to hers, and now it comes to you as a token of hope. In this hour take the name that was foretold for you, Elessar, the Elfstone of the House of Elendil!”
Aragorn took the stone and pinned the brooch upon his breast, and those who saw him wondered how they hadn’t noticed before how tall and kingly he stood: “For the gift that you have given me I thank you, Lady of Lorien of whom were sprung Celebrian and Arwen Evenstar. What praise could I say more?”
The Lady bowed her head, and she turned to Boromir, giving him a belt of gold, similar to the silver ones Merry and Pippin received; to Elva, she gave a bow such as the Galadhrim used, longer and stouter than the bows of Mirkwood, and strung with a string of elf-hair. With it went a quiver of arrows, while Sam received no weapons or wealth, but only a little box of plain grey wood, unadorned save for a single silver rune upon the lid, filled with earth from Galadriel’s orchard: “It won’t defend you against any peril, but if you keep it and see your home again at last, then perhaps it may reward you. Though you should find all barren and laid waste, there will be few gardens in Middle-earth that will bloom like yours, then you may remember Galadriel, and catch a glimpse far off of Lorien, that you have seen only in our Winter, for our Spring and our Summer are gone by, and they will never be seen on earth again save in memory.”
Sam went red to the ears and muttered something inaudible, as he clutched the box and bowed as well as he could.
“And what gift would a Dwarf ask of the Elves? ” said Galadriel, turning to Gimli.
“It’s enough for me to have seen the Lady of the Galadhrim, and to have heard her gentle words,” he replied, courteous.
“Hear all ye Elves!” she cried to those around her. “Let none say again that Dwarves are grasping and ungracious! Yet surely you desire something that I could give? Name it, I bid you! You shall not be the only guest without a gift.”
“There’s nothing, Lady Galadriel,” said Gimli, bowing low and stammering. “Nothing, unless it might be permitted to name a single strand of your hair, which surpasses the gold of the earth as the stars surpass the gems of the mine. I don’t ask for such a gift, but you commanded me to name my desire.”
The Elves stirred and murmured with astonishment, and Celeborn gazed at the Dwarf in wonder, but the Lady smiled. “It’s said that the skill of the Dwarves is in their hands rather than in their tongues, yet that is untrue of Gimli,” she said. “And how shall I refuse, since I commanded you to speak? But tell me, what would you do with such a gift?”
“Treasure it, Lady” he answered, “in memory of your words to me at our first meeting. And if ever I return to the smithies of my home, it shall be set in imperishable crystal to be an heirloom of my house, and a pledge of good will between the Mountain and the Wood until the end of days.”
So the Lady unbraided one of her long tresses, cut off three golden hairs and laid them in Gimli’s hand: “These words shall go with the gift: I don’t foretell, for all foretelling is now vain with darkness lying on one hand and only hope in the other, but if hope shouldn’t fail, then I say to you that you hands shall flow with gold, and yet over you gold shall have no dominion.”
Then she addressed Frodo, and gave him a small crystal phial, glittering with rays of white light from the Earendil’s star as she moved it: “May it guide you in dark places, when all other lights go out.”
Lastly, she looked at Haldir, giving him a sheath made to fit his sword, overlaid with a tracery of flowers and leaves wrought of silver and gold: “The blade drawn from this sheath shall not be stained or broken even in defeat,” she said, leading Elva to question again what their guide might’ve seen in the Mirror. Were those words a hidden condemnation? She couldn’t know, and after the gift that had been given to her, she couldn’t ask too. Haldir bowed, but found no words to say, so the Lady arose, and the yellow noon laid on the green land of the Tongue accompanied their last farewell, for so it seemed to them that Lorien was slipping backward, like a bright ship with enchanted trees, sailing on to forgotten shores, while they sat helpless upon the margin of the grey and leafless world.

Today in Tolkien - February 17th
This is the Fellowship’s first full day of travel down the River Anduin.
Frodo was roused by Sam. He found that he was lying, well wrapped, under tall grey-skinned trees in a quiet corner of the woodland on the west bank of the Great River, Anduin. He had slept the night away, and the grey of morning was dim among the bare branches. Gimli was busy with a small fire near at hand.
They started again before they day was broad. Not that most of the Company were eager to hurry southwards...they let the River bear them on at its own pace, having no desire to hasten towards the perils that lay beyond. Aragorn let them drift with the stream as they wished, husbanding their strength against weariness to come. But he insisted that at least they should start early each day and journey on far into the evening; for he felt in his heart that time was pressing, and he feared that the Dark Lord had not been idle while they lingered in Lórien. Nonetheless they saw no sign of an enemy that day.
This is also the day Gwaihir finds Gandalf and carries him to Lothlórien: they just miss each other. And it’s probably not an accident that they do:
From Gandalf’s account in The Two Towers:
And so at the last Gwaihir the Windlord found me again, and he took me up and bore me away.
“Ever am I fated to be your burden, friend at need,” I said.
“A burden you have been,” he answered, “but not so now. Light as a swan’s feather in my claw you are. The Sun shines through you. Indeed I do not think you need me any more: were I to let you fall, you would float upon the wind.”
“Do not let me fall!” I gasped, for I felt life in me again. “Bear me to Lothlórien!”
“That indeed is the command of the Lady Galadriel who sent me to look for you,” he answered.
Thus it was that I came to Caras Galadhon and found you but lately gone. I tarried there in the ageless time of that land where days bring healing not decay. Healing I found, and I was clothed in white. Counsel I gave and counsel took.
But how did Galadriel know to tell Gwaihir to look for Gandalf? The Fellowship had told her he had died; and indeed, he did die, though not until several days after the Fellowship told Galadriel and Celeborn of the balrog and of Gandalf’s fall from the bridge. And during that conversation with the Fellowship Galadriel said, “I cannot see [Gandalf] from afar, unless he cones within the fences of Lothlórien; a grey mist is about him, and the ways of his feet and of his mind are hidden from me.”
So what changed? Why would Galadriel except Gwaihir to find Gandalf alive? It’s possible that something had changed since her earlier statement, and she either saw Gandalf in her mirror, or she perceived his mind when he returned to life. They do know each other well enough to speak together without words, after the manner of elves with close friends, as we see in the “Many Partings” chapter of The Return of the King. Or she may have extrapolated from the disturbance in the Dimrill Dale.
But since Gandalf returned to life on the 14th, which was also the day Frodo looked in the Mirror of Galadriel, it gives us a very interesting possible chain of events. The very day after Gandalf returns to life, Galadriel and Celeborn tell the Fellowship - suddenly, after a month - okay, you need to leave now. Part of that may be Galadriel trying to rapidly remove temptation from herself after Frodo offers her the ring, but since she sends Gwaihir to look for Gandalf and bring him to Lothlorien, it seems like she knew he was alive at the time of the Fellowship’s departure, and deliberately arranged for him and the Fellowship to miss each other. (It certainly would not be hard to send swift rowers from Lothlórien to tell the Fellowship the news - they were only a day ahead and only moving at the speed of Anduin’s flow.) She sees and interprets a lot, past, present, and future; maybe she understood that this was the way things needed to be.
Beause - aside from the fact that Gandalf is in no shape to be moving on immediately, and the Fellowship cannot afford to lose any more time - Gandalf can’t go with Frodo to Mordor. He would be far too easily noticed by Sauron. But Gandalf deliberately sending Frodo and Sam alone would be too hard, and I don’t think he would be able to do it. So perhaps this is the only way the Quest can succeed, if Gandalf isn’t with them at the moment of the Breaking of the Fellowship.

War Takes Away Our Humanity
Teaser for Ch1 (basically a trailer.)
Excuse them if they had been a bit surprised at first. One and a half years of quiet had felt too good to be true, but after a few months of being tense and paranoid, people had begun to yearn for tranquility, slowly letting their guard down. Ol' Voldy and his merry band of Death Eaters had all disappeared underground after Harry had challenged their leader to a duel of skill, announcing that Riddle's Horcruxes had been all but demolished, so wizardkind had taken the opportunity to try and regain a semblance of the normality they had had before the war had started.
...
In just a month, Riddle had created utter chaos. His Death Eaters massacred muggleborn families left and right. They burned down the new St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, the Albus Dumbledore Home for War Orphans, and the Severus Snape Trauma Center all in one. They overtook the Ministry of Magic once more. Minister Shacklebolt was ruthlessly murdered, as was every Ministry official who stood with him. They were able to destroy the wards around almost half of Wizarding Britain's homes. Hell, the only wards they couldn't take down were ones equal to the ancient family homes, such as Longbottom Hall, Hogwarts, Malfoy Manor, or Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place.
...
George had broken. He had fallen to his knees in anguish, his tears and promises of revenge never-ending. A day later he had been discovered in his flat's bathroom, blood oozing out of his slit wrists, a moving photograph of him, Angelina, Fred, and some of their other friends at the Yule Ball of 1994 in his hands.
...
In another seven months, over a third of Britain had been demolished. The words You-Know-Who and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named were gone from everyone's vocabulary; everyone knew very well who. As well as The Dark Lord, fearful whispers on the streets referred to Riddle as the 'Cold One'. There were Death Eater revels almost every week, stated either in Diagon Alley, or various Muggle towns and cities.
...
Despite all of it, Voldemort had not appeared, not once. No-one, wizard or Muggle, had seen him in the flesh and lived to tell the tale. His inner circle members handled most of the revels, raids, and general killings, while he relished in the safety of his hideouts, torturing and/or killing wizards and the occasional muggle. What a way to live.
...
"No, Draco, just keep looking. There's at least another half of this library that we haven't seen. It's all Dark, we're bound to find something."
"Hermione, Harry, please. Just hear me-"
"No, Draco. There has to be another way."
...
"They found Ted Tonks. They're moving in on him, but it'll take them a minute to get through his wards. That's all the time you get before they kill him. Approximately seventy of them. He is there. They expect you to fight, bring as many as possible. High Street, Marlborough. Go, quickly." (A.N: That's a real place. I searched it up- it's in England)
...
Andromeda was the first to fall. She had broken when she had seen the house her husband had resided- and died in, apparently, as the house was now just a pile of ashes surrounded by a lovely fence. Her attention -and shield- wavered just for a second, but that was all that her opponents had needed to take her down. A quick flash of green light, and she had crumpled to the ground, an agonised expression forever on her face. After her, it had been Neville. The brave, yet foolish, man had been battling five Death Eaters by himself -and winning, it seemed- when someone had shot an emerald green jet of light to his back. Seeing him fall had been tragic for all around him, especially Augusta, who had sunk to the ground in despair, clutching her daughter-in-law. Those had been a sad few moments- before Augusta and Hannah had, too, sadly met their ends. Molly Weasley had launched herself into a duel with Bellatrix, and she fought like a vicious lioness. Even lionesses died, however, and that was what had happened to Molly. Percy and Bill, who were briefly distracted from their own duels when her body had tumbled to the floor, had all joined her in the afterlife after being hit by some very Dark curses. Percy had killed Dolohov and jumped in for his mother, grieving but level-headed, though he was no match for the serpent that was Bellatrix. Soon, the only remaining Weasley was Ron, not that he had had much time to register it, as he was battling three very dangerous Dark wix.
...
"My dear Death Eaters, would you look at this," Voldemort drawled in his snake's hiss, drawing out the 's' at the end. "The only members of the Light we have not yet defeated."
...
"Ronald Weasley," Ron looked repulsed at hearing the bald snake say his name. "You could have been great, my dear boy. You could have brought the Prewetts and Weasleys back to their former glory, but you chose not to. You are a disgrace to the pureblood name.”
If anything, Ron looked proud at that.
"Draco Malfoy," he announced, his eyes straying to the blond man. "You are a traitor to our cause, Draco. You didn't think I knew about that measly code, that spelled parchment, those private little Charms lessons? Your mother died as soon as I made her send that Patronus, boy. Your father must be rolling in his grave. Filthy blood-traitor," Draco's mask flickered for a second at the news of his mother's death, but he determinedly put it back into place, strengthening his shields.
The Death Eaters gleefully snickered at the mention of the deceased woman. Bellatrix outright cackled madly. A look from her beloved Lord quietened her immediately.
"Hermione Granger," Hermione looked ready to spit in his face and stomp on his non-nose. "You are the brightest witch of your age. A Mudblood, yes, but bright nonetheless. I would gladly excuse your unfortunate heritage. Join me, my dear, and bask in the praise and glory Lord Voldemort will give you. Join me, and be rewarded greatly," he purred. "Hermione."
"Rot in hell, Riddle," Hermione spat, seeming beyond revolted.
"Very well. And Harry Potter," Riddle sneered. "The Chosen One. The Boy-Who-Lived. The Saviour of the World. Where have you been as the world needed you, Mr Potter? You once took everything from me, Harry. And now," Voldemort smiled a sickening smile, and Hermione's shield faltered. "I shall take all from you." He raised his wand, and a jet of green light rushed toward Harry's best and only female friend.
Hermione didn't panic. Her life didn't flash before her eyes. She just felt numb. She dropped her arm and closed her eyes, ready to meet her fate. But apparently, fate had other ideas. Because she didn't see the black abyss she had thought would absorb her, she didn't feel the spell she thought would hit her, and she didn't die. No, instead, she heard a shout of her name, and as she opened her eyes, she saw a mop of bright, orange hair, followed by a thump on the ground in front of her.
"No!" she cried in sorrow.
...
Ron... Ginny... Molly... Andy...
...
“We have no other choice.”
“Draco-”
“No, Hermione, please listen to me,” Draco pleaded. “If we had another option, I would gladly choose it, but there isn’t another option. Please know that I would never ask you to do this unless it was the only way. But, don’t you see? This isn’t Dark magic, because I’m willing.”
...
“O cara mors vetus noster animos habere pudicos, et nostri bonis magicae. Rogamus te ut nos back: reversusque est in tempore. Obsecro mi mors sanguis nostras quaesumus ut nos salvos et mundo. Mortem, et dabo te in sanguinem et vitam draco malfoy, et in reditu ad nos a vobis et nobis bonum passagium praeterita, ita non potest prohibere mala et beatitudo omnibus!”
...
Tears streaming down their cheeks, they both thrust their knives into his gut. Draco cried out at the unimaginable pain. He slumped to the floor, writhing in agony.
They repeated the words once more as he bled out in front of them.
...
Hermione turned to Harry, and saw that his face was also twisted in pain, as though he could feel what Draco was feeling.
“We're monsters.” she said numbly. “We killed someone pure.”
“This is what war does, Mione,” he muttered numbly. “It takes everything from you until the only thing you have left is your humanity. Then it takes that, too.”
Draco gave one last twitch, one last whimper, before he became still, his pain still on his face. At that very moment, Hermione and Harry stumbled feeling a pull in their stomachs not unlike what one felt mid-Apparition. The wind around them spun quickly in a circle, and the two friends let go of each other's hands.
...
That had been her last thought before she had stopped flying and landed on her two feet; the world went dark, and she slumped to the shining floor of the abyss. And for the first time in a long time, Hermione Granger rested, no bad dreams or dark memories plaguing her. Little did she know, she would have quite the same fright when she woke up.
