i said this on my old blog and imma say it again. there's something soooo !!! about the shooting arc in more ways than one. my current focus is the parallels between buddie and caskett (castle, also an abc show - ik 911 was on fox in s4 but still)

in season 3 of castle, one of the mains, beckett, was shot in the chest. her partner/love interest/other main character was the one to talk to her, begging her not to leave him and to "stay with me."

buck did the same thing to eddie in their season 4.

castle knocked beckett out of the way so she couldn't get shot again. buck dragged eddie out of harm's way so he wouldn't get shot again. both watched as the loves of their lives got wheeled into surgery.

the moment we knew about the shooting (before it was even confirmed to be eddie) my first thought was the castle shooting arc. i thought there was going to be a buddie "i love you" as it unfolded bc everything else had been going the way i knew it would, and bc it happened in castle. beckett was bleeding out and castle confessed his feelings. it didn't happen like that in 911, but we got the will reveal which is the same thing in my books!

anyways, another thing, their faces (all four characters from both shows) are the EXACT same when they see one another in the hospital after the shooting. AND!!! both injured parties (beckett and eddie) had their partner at the time on their right side as buck and castle walk in! beckett says "hey, castle" and eddie says "hey, buck" in very similar tones.

ANOTHER!!! the shooting arc in both shows started a ripple effect of a ptsd arc for the injured. in which both had breakdowns. (eddie's stemmed further back, but the shooting really brought it all up)

let's also not forget that both castle and buck blamed themselves for not being able to protect their partner !

and my last point for now... castle asked beckett what she remembered from the shooting. she wasn't ready to acknowledge the confession so she lied and said she didn't remember much of the shooting. when buck asked eddie what he remembered, he said that he didn't remember much. they both described it in such a similar way which made me kinda go 👀

if you made it this far i am sorry and also here is visual and audio of most main points i spoke about

and in case y'all weren't aware, castle and beckett end up married (maybe they have kids? idk the ending of the show was fucking weird) there's still so much hope for buddie

Castle Parallels

Rewatching S6 and I can't help but notice the similarities in these two scenes 🥹

Castle being all serious in both scenes; starting his speech with "I've been doing a lot of thinking about us" in 6x01 and "We really have to talk about something" in 6x03

Kate thinking he's going to break up with her in 6x01. In 6x03, she didn't know what to think or say and tells Castle she doesn't know how to fix this.

In 6x01, Castle then surprises Kate with a ring; no box and just holds it between his fingers. In 6x03, he surprises Kate again by holding a key between his fingers.

Kate's initial shock reactions feels similar in both scenes 😂 And thereafter, grabs and kisses him in both scenes.

And I'm not sure if the writers meant to do this or not but I find it interesting how after the proposal, the next scene is her on the job in DC. But for 6x03, the next scene we see is Agent McCord at the loft telling Kate that she's fired from the job. ✨

I finished watching the Castle series. Here are some of my notes.

I really liked it and enjoyed it.

It reminded me a lot of the series Bones. But I enjoyed the romance much more here. (No lead actress pregnancy, thanks for that.) Unfortunately, there weren't many deeper stories for the secondary characters.

S8 was weaker than the previous series, but not as bad as I feared. It was good in many ways but the main line of Loksat was just weird.

I wished at least ten more minutes in the last episode. But I get it… I'm glad there's at least a short scene after years. But it wasn't that satisfying.

Castle and Beckett drag the entire series quite a bit, either as partners or as a couple, but also with the dynamic they had between them and their constant teasing.

I liked Castle's slightly crazy nature, his witty remarks, enthusiasm for mysteries and his relationship with his loved ones.

Castle & Beckett - Season 3 Finale

This scene is just... This man had to pick up the woman that he loves. In complete fear that if he didn't carry her out of there she would die. They just had a terrible fight and she never wanted to see him again. He had to hold her closer than he ever has and listen to her fall apart. She calls out his first name like she rarely does, "Rick, please". When you think of the emotions and strength Castle had to go through to do this. Its overwhelming.
