LE DÉPART
The tour came eventually to an end as the crew entered in the Combi. Everyone taking places in the cockpit. The bulletproof windows letting them appreciate one last time Neo-Nice, even if Mart didn't really entered actually entered the city.
Paperworks and customs check up done. They took their place in the long row of big and armored vehicles ready to take one of the hourly opennings to the Mega-route.
Mart eyes were intensely scanning the fortifications eager to pass them and visit the world. He even cracked a smile when it finally opened.
The seemingly infinte grey lane of the Mega route first apeared to him. His eyes adjusting to the bright rays of the unforgiving sun on wich the planet was rotating around. And of course the gargantuan flat and rock landscape the road was build on. It was all that can be seen. Endless upon endless of barely fertile lands. A brown rocky horison with occasionnaly some short vegetations.
As all the vehicles continued he finally saw that the beginning of the Mega-route was actually a bridge of titanic proportion. He could see the faint glow of the sun on water. He didn't even realised he was up on his feet until Marcel laughed.
HOW COULD THEY NOT ADMIRE THE BEAUTY OF THIS NATURAL ABYSSMAL MOAT?
"Il est pas déjà passé par là pour entrer ce gars?" Seemed to ask Ramid.
"Il est peut-être venu en cryo' comme notre marchandise, ou dans une caisse, on a pas tous la chance d'avoir la vue sur le voyage." Seemingly answered Irham, throwing an angry gesture.
Mart didn't know what they were talking about but it seemed that it affected dearly the arabian man wich looked up at him after answering, making eye contact. Whatever was said, the traveler decided to throw the man a thumb up in hope to lift his spirit wich seemed to works.
"Hey Mart!" Called Marcel.
The cyborg tapped the console and a map of the Combi appeared on a screen in the habitacle.
"Si tu veux voir Neo-Nice, c'est maintenant ou jamais!" Yelled the man with the bulldog like face, poking what appeared to be a panoramic window in the back of the vehicle on the map.
Mart immediately ran to the door, exiting the cockpit. And at the second he was out of sight, he opened the -door-, arriving immediately to his destination.
And here...
He first saw what appeared to be an ocean behind the city.
Then he witnessed the glory and height of the city he didn't even visit. An imposant series of fortifications all of them with an incredible number of set of gigantics cannons. He really wondered how can they kept in such great state all this antiques.
Behind this walls was a natural mountain on which a motley city was build on its sides. But, clear distinction was apparent. The base of the city was grey and full of buildings and the more you looked up, the less dense was the architecture even more older. Near the top, clear sign of agriculture finally gave some greens to the megalopole and finally, on top of all this, a castle, an actual castle like in the fairytails, it looked even older than the very ground it was build on.
As he stared, dumbfounded by this oddity, his attention came back to the bridge as the last vehicle exited the city, the great doors closing and the cannons coming to live, moving to point the bottom of the ravine that became the moat of this fortified citadel.
Mart then understood two things, all the tech he was seeing were the state of the art here and clearly and that they were here for a reason.
He couldn't see on what such armament was aimed at, but witnessing how bright the shots and explosions were, it was big.
He opened the -door- directly to the cockpit. The crew didn't noticed, for them, he just passed the door. As they were already happily talking and maybe to him. He took place on an unocupied seat and smiled. This place was incredible.
He had to restraint his feets from tapping and his hands from clapping from excitment.
He was eager to discover this world.

LYNN BARBER REPORTING
Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart, Elton John — all have benefited from the Gerry Stickells' treatment. His latest charges have been Queen, who last night climaxed their biggest-ever European tour at Knebworth. So what makes Gerry Stickells a legend in pop circles?
Queen's highway man
There was a moment in the recent Queen concert at Slane Castle when Freddie Mercury was prancing along catwalk at the top of the stage, and an enormous bearded man rose slowly over the edge of the catwalk behind him like King Neptune arising from the waves. Freddie Mercury faltered just fractionally and then danced on again, reassured. The bearded man looked down over his kingdom — the 80,000 spectators packed into the field in front of Slane Castle, the 50 technicians sweating over the lights and sound consoles, the 100 security men tussling round the front of the stage. He beamed. All was well. Slowly, securely, he sank again out of sight.
The legendary Gerry Stickells. No big pop concert is considered complete without his reassuring presence: he is the tour manager, the one who brings order out of chaos. He is 43, six foot one, and (maybe) 16 stone. He walks with solid, stately tread, resplendent in his yellow Hawaiian shirt, his jazzy Bermuda shorts, with his Staff /All Areas / Backstage Passes chained round his neck whence even the most determined fans will have trouble stealing them. Like an eastern potentate, he processes round the backstage frenzy and the front-of-stage mayhem, bestowing calm with a beatific smile.
Before the concert, he was sitting in the stars’ trailer dishing out enormous wads of punts (Irish pound notes) to assorted technicians, while Freddie Mercury, in a yellow tracksuit, picked daintily at the Smarties on the buffet (pop stars live on Smarties, don’t ask me why). During the concert, Gerry seemed to be everywhere — checking the crews’ loos and the stars’ helicopter, keeping an eye on the carnage in the St John Ambulance tent (eight broken legs and more blotto drunks than anyone could count), and whistling up fire hoses out of the blue to plug the gap where things in the audience had broken down the security fence. "Just high spirits,” said Gerry benignly.
Gerry Stickells grew up in Kent, where his parents were farmers, and trained as a car mechanic. “I’m one of the few people in this business who isn’t a frustrated musician.”
But he was a teenager in the ‘60s, and when a friend who played in a dance band came and asked him to be their roadie, he obliged. One of his friends teamed up with a mad black guitarist Jimi Hendrix, and suddenly Gerry was thrown into the sex ‘n’ drugs ‘n’ rock ‘n’ roll marlstrom, organising Hendrix tours all round Britain and America. Those tours — Hendrix setting fire to his guitars — are fondly remembered wherever two or three old rock fans are gathered together.
“People still come up to me,” says Gerry, “and talk about how they saw Hendrix at the Forum and ‘Wow, it was so loud!’ But it really wasn’t; it couldn’t have been. The whole PA (amplification) for Hendrix at the Forum was smaller than the monitor system we use for […]

The Stone of Destiny Has a Mysterious Past Beyond British Coronations
Part boulder, part myth, part treasure, one of Europe’s most enigmatic artifacts will return to the global stage May 6.
— By Ronan O’Connell | May 1, 2023
When Britain’s King Charles III is crowned in London on May 6, he’ll sit on an ancient chair housing a 335-pound boulder cloaked in mystery. Used for British coronations since the late 14th century, the Stone of Scone is of unknown origins and age.
Legend traces this rectangular slab to Palestine 3,000 years ago, but scientists believe it is likely from Scotland. The stone is among the most prized treasures of this nation, where it was long used to crown Scottish kings. Then in 1296, it was stolen by England.
Until 1996, when it was finally given back to Scotland, the stone resided at Westminster Abbey, where it is now reappearing for Charles’ grand coronation. Soon after, the boulder will return to its current home, Scotland’s Edinburgh Castle.

Tourists to this magnificent fortress, which looms above the city on a hilltop, can admire the stone in the castle’s Crown Room. Or they can kneel upon a replica at lavish Scone Palace, 33 miles north of Edinburgh, where the original was part of Scottish coronations for centuries.
In Edinburgh, Scone, and Westminster, travelers form a fleeting connection with the enduring puzzle of an artifact that’s been stolen twice, damaged repeatedly, mythologized endlessly, and disputed for seven centuries.

Rock of Legend
One enduring myth gives the stone an even longer history. This legend states it was used as a pillow by biblical figure Jacob, more than three millennia ago, before being moved from Palestine to Egypt, Italy, Spain, and Ireland, where it was then seized by Celtic Scots.
But the Stone, which is made of sandstone, “cannot have been Jacob’s Pillow because that would have been limestone,” the bedrock of the Holy Land, says British archaeologist David Breeze, who co-authored the book The Stone of Destiny: Artefact and Icon.
After King Edward I conquered Scotland in 1296, he moved the stone to Westminster Abbey. “It was later fitted into King Edward’s chair, upon which all English and British sovereigns have been crowned since the end of the 14th century,” says British royal historian Tracy Borman.

Stealing The Stone
The last time the stone was brought out to exercise its crowning powers was the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Yet it nearly missed that event thanks to a bizarre caper three years earlier, involving Scottish city Arbroath. The stone was stolen from Westminster, which has hosted every British coronation since 1066, and turned up at the 12th-century Arbroath Abbey, about 80 miles north of Edinburgh.
This extraordinary heist was not the work of professional thieves, says Borman. Instead, it was the crude work of four Scottish students. They broke into the iconic Westminster, dragged the stone across its floor, and then drove away with it.

“After some negotiation between the Scottish and English governments, it was brought back to London in time for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II,” Borman explains. “In 1996, amidst growing support for Scottish devolution, the then-U.K. prime minister, John Major, announced the stone would be kept in Scotland when not in use at coronations.”
Upon its return to Scotland, scientific research established the stone’s geology was local, says Dauvit Broun, professor of Scottish history at the University of Glasgow. “It has been suggested that it could be the same kind of stone as is found near Scone itself,” Broun notes.
Link To Kings
Yet even cutting-edge science can’t fully decode the stone, says Ewan Hyslop, head of research and climate change at Historic Environment Scotland (HES). This month, the organization completed a study involving 3D modeling and X-ray examinations that provided further evidence that the boulder appeared to be from Scone. But Hyslop conceded they still didn’t “have all the answers.”
Along with the stone’s provenance, mystery surrounds its earliest uses. Researchers have yet to pinpoint when it first became associated with coronations, says Kathy Richmond, head of collections and applied conservation at HES.
“But legends around its origin strongly link it with kingship and the emergence of Scotland as a nation,” she says. “Sources such as the Scotichronicon attest to inauguration ceremonies taking place at Scone from at least the late ninth century.”
Myth also etched a powerful message into the stone’s surface. The 14th-century Scottish chronicler John of Fordoun claimed that before it was seized by the English, it had been inscribed with these words: “As long as fate plays fair, where this Stone lies, the Scots shall reign.”
For many centuries, fate was harsh. But now the Stone of Scone again sits proudly in the cradle of Scotland’s finest castle, when not in London bathed in the reflected glory of a coronation.

Anon, tthey are not generally PR smart savvy as much as they love press or PR. It is all what UK Black Lord of PR stated that their in law women are lazy and a devil can't steal anything regarding the publicity. Instead of being a part of volunteering gardening group with Archwel there is no Markle in sight.. The Cambridge are utterly lazy and just 2 events for William with his simple drivel what his wife Kannot and he Will not and kids do exactly what other kids. They herded a staff of the hospital into the inside foyer so no boo from non regal Liverpool but here we go again. No OK number of real work to steer it away s well as gain their unkeep in hard times. They do nothing since Queen passed away and like Markle - pose, delegate or ask a journo to pass it s source of druggie uncle said, call the pa's they drive around lol.
Matketa cares and she is stable with her work as a routine taken seriously by an unsung hero. Publicity or not. UK Chicago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meghan markle and Prince Henry Hewitt were annoying with a posing at US graveyard with their own photog. We know why. No genuine bone in their bodies.
Tumblr media
lool on in laws unsporty Kate or Camilla. Lazy to core to move a finger after Good Will hunting..Chuck any duties away. Work done. Marketa and Anne, Zara have fun.
Tumblr media
Marketa and Zara share like of Zimmerman dresses and horses, sport and fun.
Tumblr media
mockery of Kate's out of trend ridiculous headbands and Russian kokoshka tiaras,,calling her Katushka as an occupant parasite squatter at her estates. Nothing than rags aka clothes and tabs. The Sussexes sued for a breach about Balmoral in the book Spare. In USA court. Fun and horoscope start.
Tumblr media
kate's brother copies Marketa's exact brand of the paddleboad but otherwise twice bankrupt and night by Mr Hydrogen for freebies..so all these in laws and ruling Windsor male wishy washed trio. King as a coward and a liar, as the sinners up to the church and Markle's helper ex KGB Babis up to the church and the crown Jewell's lol.
I think Markle is up to her TLC plastic surgeries. Zara with her husband Mike look like good fun, work and chemistry. Not sure about other branches of ye Windsors but many insiders of different countries, ages, jobs, money, gender state that the most normal and reasonable and a Royal from. Titled Windsors is Marketa and Anne. Both sporty, work horses and no huge fuss. Kate does her clothes coding by colour like Markle, both into pearls margarita Marketa but none of them. Bother to pose as a volunteer at least for sake of PR.. You don't see a flask with coffee on the rock in Highlands close to Balmoral like Marketa in the case of Charles walking and posting his own photo lol. It's a car driving and so Kat. Camilla plots how dishonour M after Diana for no reason but she chased JT initials and no Muslim contender to put her into real crossfire as a honour trouble of a Royal lady. They are incredibly lazy, mean gold diggas and very silly regarding PR spin as they tout the publicity and seek attention. Check copycat Markle.
Tumblr media
M described as only Windsor at the Windsor Castle and family (with the balls and brain cells) like Sophie of Bavaria only Habsburg in Hofburg in 1848 you know why Kate has posed as Empress Sissy in the black and white weird portrait where she looks more like her uni work about Carol's Alice in Wonderland, so her hairbands and match match coding nonsense. So Markle's Husband shirt lol. Pippa's sister in law named her son Otto like Habsburg, fat corrupt clown'z bedmate with similar personality disorder, career and abuse of power called her daughter after the actress of Empress Sissy.
Anne is very unglazed and unfashionable. She was app Jo Jo pants, not academic woman. Marketa is teensy and fashionable and an ice princess iron maiden meets a geekoid history buff and a book worm but both app no nonsense. No moaning unless with their men they picked themselves for being themselves, no sources said, full diary, their lives living full and marching to the beat of their drums. Loyal. Funny. Easygoing, leaning on family and clan. Sporty.
Why gaining PR galore in USA milking PR experts? All stated above. It is in tatters as Little Big Horn launches huge suit about Balmoral Castle and leak of its layout in US court against Prince Harry and the plaintiff named as UK royal with all paperwork of pedigree.
Both ex profi athletes, on Olympics in different capacities or boring village sport events or pond hockey games. Look on Evander Kane. I am not going into his injury, messy private life and arrangement with bankruptcy but he is doing well and great PR job with a reputation management and money making. Good job on the ice (not now) as a base. He does charity things and do hands on. He donates money not Gimme gimme us for others. She reveals something from his privacy but not too much. Not contradicting himself I am private yet my Al life and joystick is out. No bashing amily and exes now or players randomly because they were doing better. Mainky he lost his own money, he makes own money, runs new biz and apparel but sells his own name.. These women in law like Markle or the Middleton are non names and no Cinderella's ugly stepsisters and their new houses provided by stupid males up to mama Bucket snob close to her house. They were writing to Ronaldo and Markle to dozen of the athletes to chase them. They badmouth girls and ase them as rivalry. They chased their three men, Markle and Camilla are control freaks. Bulimia, personality disorder and alcoholism but no one day of pretending to be a gardener for publicity aka Bolland or Hollywood PR.
Evander Kane returns to NHL games. No blaming or playing saint but watch his good PR.

Love is Pain
Tumblr media
A/N: Hmmm. This was really heavy to write for me but the song has always moved me in a way that it resulted into this. It’s more of an AU then anything else. So before you go read the warning. As I mentioned this is going to be angsty.
!!!WARNING!!!: This is a subject that can be very uncomfortable to some people so I think I would rather make this 18+ but since I know that some young people are going through this and can be and do think more maturely, I won’t put the 18+ function but if you are uncomfortable with drugs, mentions of drugs, use of drugs, prostitution, suicide and death, then I think it’s better for not to read this.
PAIRING: reader x James Potter au
THE SONG: Machine Gun Kelly - Merry Go Round
XX
Summer day. You and James would wake up every summer day. Both of you had nothing, you were runaways. So in love that all you now wanted was pain, so it came...
It was all supposed to be beautiful. Love was something everybody spoke highly of and heartbreak was something everybody degraded. You were never heartbroken. Not by James, never by the person you have loved and cherished the most. Since school was over both of you knew that the two of you would be together forever, even if it was against both of your parents’ will. James was supposed to become a lawyer and you were supposed to become a wife. Where was the fairness in that? James didn’t let your father take you away from him. Yes, he was far from being perfect but you were not going away from him. No. Never.
But it all happened so fast. Being on your own so soon was the life challenge love couldn’t fix. It was not easy, far from it to be exact. So James did the only thing he could do. He hustled. For money. For survival but it didn’t take long for his curiousity to jeoperdize you and your love.
You never had a silver spoon present in the past, now at last, the spoon is present and the boy wet it. He told you to bring him a slab- a cotton slab and a match. He saw the fear inside your eyes and took your hand in his. There was this glimmer each time he was looking in your eyes and he was kneeling on the ground and kissing them. He said. “One day we’ll fly across the world and have a wedding. A proper, gorgeous wedding.” he saw you smile and continued. “ Baby, I have a plan. Come with me to this place.” he kept smiling, his pupils dilating and pleading you. He didn’t mean the place geographically, more like a state of mind, place in your own head.
You kept looking at him, afraid? Terrified? But also in love and naive, so whenever that glimmer was present in his wonderful hazel eyes, what could you do but give in?
With happy tears in your eyes, you smiled and nodded.
“Okay, baby. Give me your hand.” he asked softly and despite the voices restricting you to do what he has asked you of, your hand was in his. “Now, flip it and give me a vain- oh and baby?” he said, looking up before the needle was far away from the surface.
“Yeah?” you looked at him.
“Take off your belt. We’ll use it as a restraint.” and you did what you were told, watching him wrap your belt around your arm and behind him noticing as the crytals started to melt on the silver spoon. He turned around, his hands a bit shaking as he reached inside a case. He filled the needle with food in front of him and flicked it with haste. His eyes changed and you noticed the lust and desire behind them.
You knew he did that already and the fights about it kept going on. But it wasn’t for living anymore. It was for surviving and the promises he made, that’s what led you here.
He shakes out of his thoughts and turns around, bringing needle to you and noticing you weren’t right in your face. He could tell you were scared and because of that, he said. “I love you, okay?” and after that, he shoved it into your arm, seeing you go weak yet happy, he holds you in his arms and smiles. “How does that taste, baby?”
And he could see you have a smile on your face and he loved it. He loved to see that smile once again after seeing you down and always frowning. He saw the misery you had to go through because of the wait for his promises. But this was all temporary. It was. He is going to fulfil those promises as he meant to.
“I love you.” he whispered, holding you in his arms as the drug took an effect.
---
You didn’t realize how or why or how much time it took to get you this low but you were here. Rock bottom.
Your skirt dropped, your head dropped, swigging out of a whiskey bottle and he just watched but he was not James. No. He was definetly not your James and you knew it. Your James joined the army, was gone for a couple months and you? Well, you were messing with everybody. He left you. To survive on your own. He left you, so he could make things right. To show you, take you to those promises he spoke about.
You? Well, you were lower than the rock bottom, lying there and being gone just as long as James was. When he left, so did you. The only difference was. Your body was still stuck here and craving. So, everybody of the dealers have already heard you squeeling. You traded sex for product. You would do anything for that feeling because only that feeling could numb the pain inside of you. The heartbreak, the degraded side of love...that was you.
Until one summer day, you started to feel something else, early in the morning in front of the toilet, kneeling and looking down on your belly, knowing there is no concealing. You were living foul and now, you were expecting a child. No, not just any child but James’ child. You stood up from the toilet, your hair dipped in  vomit and so you leaned against the sink and washed it all out. Tying it up in a ponytail, you looked yourself in the mirror and seeing this 20-year old girl, who could barely even smile. If you could cry, you would but this was you and the old you, the happy, naive, in love you? She was gone and this reflection that you were seeing was more real than any dreams and hopes James promised you.
You looked down on your belly, thinking and rethinking every possibility. What if you aborted it? But it was your child. Your’s and James’ miracle that came from nothing else but love.
You washed yourself up. Cleaned your body, your hair, your teeth and every inch except your soul that was by now so sinned, you could feel the bubbles burst. But the mascara was already on and you were ready to see the doctor.
And what- who did you see in that ultrasound? You saw a beautiful baby that’s barely over a pound. That moment was all it took for you to convince yourself on starting over. On cleaning yourself up, being the best of you for your child. He or she was so beautiful that all you could do was see something you failed to see in a long time.
Hope.
But what is given so fast, can be takes awas just as that.
News spread around, saying the baby’s father has died in the war and you broke on the floor, crying and holding on to your sweet sweet child. But the heartbreak was so strong, the paing was eating you, driving you that now all you wanted was that same feeling.
Now you were alone. All alone and you were so pathetic and desperate to score an ounce that you sold everything in that house. And that ounce, that syringe, that food and that feeling was all that kept you alive anymore.
But when everything was gone, except the matress, you and the child, dying on the floor a letter came by through the door, saying: ‘I’ll be home tomorrow, love James.’
But how could you know that. You heard the news but was it really the news or the rumors? You never made sure of that.
And James? How could James have known of everything that was happening back home, to his girl? Because he just left as if everything would be so easy for you.
That thought changed as soon as he knocked on those doors and didn’t get an answer. He grows nervous, feeling his heart beat faster. He hasn’t talked to his girl in so long yet he didn’t know you sold his phone for a hit, hell how he wishes he could hear your laughter.
But that summer day, his drug hit you like a cancer and he forgot because he left and cleaned his act up. He pulled out a photo of you and him in the passenger seat in Acura, kissing under the words ‘Happily ever after.’ . He smiled and brushed his thumb against the photo, soon realizing that he’s standing in front of his own house, not hearing any answer.
He pulls his keys out of his pocket, tries to unlock the door but they were were never locked. His heart begins to pump faster in his chest as he walks into the house and sees it’s a catastrophic disaster. Every step he takes with his shoe, he crushes a capsule until something reaches his nostrils and he knows what he smells isn’t natural.
He looks down in the distance, sees a body of the queen of his castle. Everything he held in his hands drops on the floor and within the second he is by your side, screaming. “BABY PLEASE! BABY PLEASE! WAKE UP!” he continues to scream, kneeling on his knees and wanting to hold her until he sees her hands around her stomach, inside was a child, realizing it was his....
Mortified and without a doubt, he pulled out a gun, put it against his head and-
---
An entire family died on that summer day because a facade made a girl give her love away but those were James’ consequences that he had to pay. Love is pain.

The Red Serpent: 6. A Place called the Holy-water Stoup
The slabs of the mosaic paving of the holy place could be alternatively white or black, and JESUS, like ASMODEUS, observes their alignment. It seemed impossible for me to see the summit where the marvellous sleeping one remained hidden. Not being HERCULES with magic power, how does one decipher the mysterious symbols engraved by the overseers of the past? In the sanctuary, however, the holy-water stoup, fountain of love of believers, reminds one of these words: BY THIS SIGN YOU WILL CONQUER him.
If there is one place without which it would be hopeless to even begin trying to solve the riddle, it is the church of Rennes-le-Château. The poet has fleetingly referred to it a couple of times already, but in this stanza, he makes it very clear that the layout of this church constitutes a key part of the mystery. It would make sense, therefore, to fine-comb everything in this church for clues.
6.1 The church of Rennes-le-Château To get to Rennes-le-Château, one takes the main road from Carcassonne, which eventually crosses the Sals River in the town of Couiza. Just as one is about to exit the town, there is a signpost on the left indicating the road to Rennes-le-Château. From there, the narrow road steadily winds up the hill until one finally drives into this legendary little town. Anybody who is acquainted with the enigma of Rennes-le-Château will understand what a big moment it is to drive into this town for the first time. I can still clearly remember the expectation with which I arrived there. And one is not disappointed. Rennes-le-Château lies right on top of a hill in a picturesque landscape. The old buildings and peaceful atmosphere have an exceptional charm. I have heard many a person express a desire to reside there. The best time to visit this town is over weekends, when all the book- and other shops are open. One should still be able to find copies of the Prieuré de Sion documents that had been deposited in the French National Library, among which Le serpent rouge, at one of these bookshops. Having driven into the town, one continues straight on with the narrow tarred road lined with stone buildings. To one’s right is the castle where the Blancheforts once lived. A short distance further on, just as the church rises right in front, the road curves to the left, with Villa Bethania on the right-hand side. A little further on is the parking area. Here one is greeted by beautiful undulating hills to the south-east, and to one’s right, against the plateau on which the town is built, the Tower of Magdala. Arriving at the Church of Mary Magdalene, one finds a pillar to the left of the footpath similar to the one on which Saunière had engraved ‘Mission 1891’. Just past this pillar is a narrow passage to the left, leading to a shop and the museum, which effects an entrance to Villa Bethania and the Tower of Magdala. To one’s right is the garden in front of the church, as well as the entrance to the cemetery behind it. Above the front door of the church (which is unlocked from time to time), is the following ominous phrase: ‘TERRIBILIS EST LOCUS ISTE’ (‘THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE’). As one enters the church, one is greeted by a striking devil on the left, who seems to be paralysed from the waist down. The poet calls this character Asmodeus. He has a narrow face and a goatee beard. His eyes look cruel and wild, and his mouth is open. The fingers of his right hand form a conspicuous circle. On his head are two big goat’s horns curling backwards. On the hump behind his head rests the holy-water stoup, which has the shape of a scallop-shell. Above this stoup are two dragonlike figures; possibly salamanders. The one is to the right and the other to the left beneath a red disc with the letters BS written in black on it. These could possibly stand for Bérenger Saunière, or even Boudet and Saunière. Above these letters there is a platform wherein is engraved: ‘PAR CE SIGNE TU LE VAINCRAS’ (‘BY THIS SIGN YOU WILL CONQUER HIM’) — the exact words in the poem. These are the famous words that Constantine had heard in a vision, except that a ‘le’ (‘him’) had been added to the phrase. On the platform are four angels crossing themselves. Right above them is an isosceles cross on a circle with three offshoots at each end. Strangely, all the middle offshoots have been painted light blue, which accentuates the two on either side. That the cross features so prominently makes perfect sense: It is, after all, through this that the devil has to be conquered.

Fig. 16. Asmodeus — the entire artwork
Shifting one’s eyes to the rest of the church, one discovers one is standing to the right at the back of the church. The inside of the church is much smaller than one would imagine. Beneath one’s feet is the black and white chequered floor the poet mentions. Slantwise to the left, in the middle right at the back of the church, is the wooden confessional. Right above it, on the back wall, is a massive fresco depicting the Sermon on the Mount. Straight across from where one is standing, against the opposite wall, is a statue of Jesus being baptised. Jesus is squatting in front of John the Baptist, who is holding a reed cross in one hand and a shell in the other, which is above Jesus’ head. ‘JESUS’ and ‘ASMODEUS’ are therefore facing each other, with the black and white chequered floor between them — precisely as the poet states. There is a reason that these two words are in upper case: They correspond to the white and black theme in the poem, which is symbolic of the antipoles that also feature throughout. This had clearly also been the goal with the depiction of Jesus and Asmodeus in the church, as they are strikingly depicted as antipoles: Jesus is squatting, and Asmodeus is sitting paralysed from the waist down; Jesus’ right knee is touching the pedestal of the statue, and Asmodeus’ left knee; Jesus is dressed in red and the pedestal beneath Him is green, while the devil is wearing green and sitting on a red pedestal. There is a scallop-shell above each of them: the one is in John the Baptist’s hand, the other is the holy-water stoup on the devil’s hump. There is also a cross above each of them: the reed cross in John the Baptist’s hand, and the isosceles cross above the devil, over and above the implied crosses made by the four angels. Looking over the pews from the back of the church, one sees the altar right in front, and the high pulpit just to the left in front of the altar. There are several statues against the walls, including those of St. Anthony the Hermit and St. Germaine that were mentioned earlier; these are to the left. The statue of St. Anthony of Padua is straight across from the pulpit, St. Mary Magdalene straight across from St. Anthony the Hermit, and St. Roch straight across from St. Germaine. Between these statues are the Stations of the Cross, which are to be found in all Catholic churches. To the left behind the altar is a statue of Joseph, and to the right, a statue of the Virgin Mary. Both of them are holding the Child.
6.2 The landmarks at Rennes-les-Bains The fact that the poet highlights Jesus and Asmodeus leads one to surmise that these statues are also related to the area around Rennes-les-Bains. Upon an investigation, one indeed finds a place in the Rennes-les-Bains region that is associated with the devil, namely the Devil’s Armchair. It lies against the hill not too far south-west of Le Cercle. This ‘armchair’ is a light-coloured, detached rock in which a seat had been carved. It actually provides a surprisingly comfortable seat. It is said that this rock had at some stage belonged to the Hautpouls. While the lame devil in the church of Rennes-le-Château is without a chair, one here finds a chair, but the devil is missing. It is evident that these two have to be connected somehow.
Tumblr media
Fig. 17. The layout of the church of Rennes-le-Château
Right next to the Devil’s Armchair, a fountain called the Fountain of the Circle rises. This water is also rich in iron, giving it a rusty colour. The water is piped down from up here to the main road at the bottom, where it runs out and eventually flows into the Sals. It could very well be that the circle the devil’s fingers is forming is connected with this Fountain of the Circle. As Gérard de Sède points out in Le trésor maudit de Rennes-le-Château, there are also other landmarks in the region that are associated with the devil, among which the five cup-shaped hollowed out marks in the so-called Bread Stone further to the south-east. The devil is said to have made these with his fingers when he touched it. The plateau behind the Devil’s Armchair, the Le Pla de la Coste, is also reminiscent of the flat side of the devil’s right leg. A third landmark that is associated with the evil one is an old signal tower close by, which at some stage had allegedly been called the Devil’s Nipple.
6.3 Cap de l’Homme Just as the Devil’s Armchair relates to the devil in the church of Rennes-le-Château, so another landmark in the area relates to Jesus! According to Boudet, there had been a sculptured head in a rock above the plateau to the west of Rennes-les-Bains that had been associated with Christ. It was called the Cap de l’Homme (‘Head of the Man’). Boudet writes: ‘Cap de l’'Homme. A menhir was conserved in this place, and one have there, high up, sculptured in relief, a magnificent head of the lord Jesus, the saviour of mankind.’[44] In 1884, Boudet himself removed this carving. A depiction of this head — also called the Head of Dagobert II —- apparently appears in the document Pierres gravées du Languedoc, in which depictions of Marie de Blanchefort’s tombstones are also to be found. To reach the rocks where this head had been, one follows the main road going through Rennes-les-Bains further south, past the convergence of the Sals and Blanque Rivers, up to the first narrow tarred road branching off to the right. This road runs up the plateau and leads to the area where the Cap de l’Homme had once been. On this narrow road, just past an open piece of grassland on the left, there is a signpost on the right-hand side indicating the way to Roc d’en Barou — the high point of the plateau directly to the west of Rennes-les-Bains. (One cannot, however, always count on these signs. I have more than once found some of them to have disappeared without a trace.) There is space to park one’s vehicle close by. At this sign, a very inconspicuous two-track dirt road branches off to the right. One follows this, taking the right-hand path that has fallen in disuse where the road forks. About 200 m further on there are a couple of rocks to one’s left. The rock in which the Cap de l’'Homme had been engraved, is nearby — about 30 m from the path. Old Christian crosses are still to be seen on the front and back of this rock. The poet emphasises the fact that Jesus and Asmodeus are eerie the ‘alignment’ of the ‘paving’. These two landmarks in the Rennes-les-Bains area, namely the Devil’s Armchair and the Cap de ‘Homme, correspond exactly to that. Instead of the white and black block-floor in the church, one here finds certain important lines of longitude and latitude, which could also be linked to white and black patterns. The Devil’s Armchair faces east, in the direction of the Sals River lower down the slope. If one were to move the devil in the church here, he would be looking slightly to the left, almost straight in the direction of the Cap de l’Homme — exactly like in the church!
6.4 The Holy-water Stoup The reason the poet draws attention to the church of Rennes-le-Château at this point is that it relates to the next landmark on the route. The Devil’s Armchair is just a few minutes’ walk from the stone circle on the outskirts of Rennes-les-Bains in a south-westerly direction through the beautiful natural forest. It is possibly from here that the poet cannot see the place where the sleeping beauty lay, or lies: ‘It seemed impossible for me to see the summit where the marvellous sleeping one remained hidden.’ This place, which is the end of the route through the area, must therefore be somewhere on a hill. The next landmark could be connected with the holy-water stoup in the church, as the poet refers to it further on in this stanza: ‘In the sanctuary, however, [is] the holy-water stoup, fountain of love of believers ...’ Astonishingly, one discovers that, just like Jesus and Asmodeus are connected with landmarks in the Rennes-les-Bains area, so, indeed, is the holy-water stoup. Just further south, where the Sals and Blanque Rivers converge, one finds a beautiful blue pool of water, which is also called the Holy-water Stoup! In order to get to the Holy-water Stoup from the Devil’s Armchair, one continues along the footpath and then takes the path branching off to the left to Le Roche Tremblante — the so-called Trembling Rock. Beneath this rock is another footpath leading back in the direction of Rennes-les-Bains. The path one is following, leads down to the tarred road next to the Sals River, about 100 m north of the Holy-water Stoup. On thinking back to the holy-water stoup in the church, it strikes one that the letters BS on the red disc above it could also allude to the Blanque and Sals Rivers. It could therefore be that the two dragonlike figures to the left and right underneath the BS are symbolic of these two rivers. The connection between the two rivers and the dragonlike figures is even stronger if one supposes that the figures do not represent two salamanders, but a basilisk and a salamander (which are depicted as identical, simply because they are utilised as twin figures). In that case, the letters BS could be connected with the rivers as well as these figures.
Tumblr media
Fig. 18. Snakelike figure at the Fountain of Lovers
The basilisk and salamander are mythological antipoles: The salamander was symbolic of the righteous who could resist the fervent temptations of the devil, as it was apparently fire-resistant and could even put out fire. The basilisk, on the other hand, symbolised the devil and was regarded as the head of the serpents. It was also depicted as a beast that was half serpent, half cockerel. In accordance with the fact that these beasts represent antipoles, they are depicted on either side of the holy-water stoup in the church. In the Rennes-les-Bains area, the Blanque and Sals Rivers symbolise these antipoles, with the Holy-water Stoup, through which the Rose Line runs so neatly, as the central point in between.
6.5 The Fountain of Lovers In the description of the Holy-water Stoup the poet mentions the ‘fountain of love of believers’. These words are reminiscent of another landmark in the area, just further up the Sals River. Turning left on the tarred road at the Holy-water Stoup and driving along the Sals, the road lazily bends from east to south. Just a short distance ahead is a place in the Sals called Fontaine des Amours — ‘Fountain of Lovers’. This must surely be the place with the most beautiful scenery in the region. From the parking space, one takes the footpath just on the other side of the bridge down to the river at the bottom, where a breathtaking scene awaits one. Under the vivid green trees, the water of the Sals bubbles over the rocks and into a magnificent pool. Close by is another pool where the rock has been chiselled into the shape of a heart. On top of the rocks across from the pool, the ruins of an old building are etched against the trees. At this fountain there is a surprise in store. A snakelike figure has been carved in the rock that inadvertently calls to mind the salamander — which is indeed connected with the Sals. The salamander is quite an appropriate figure here at the Fountain of Lovers, as it could serve as a reminder to resist the fervent arrows of the evil one. It seems that Saunière also had to deal with such temptations here. In Henry Lincoln’s Key to the Sacred Pattern there is a photograph of an engraving that apparently related to him. The engraving consisted of the name ‘E. CALVE’ and an arrowed heart, as well as the date 1891. According to some versions of the story, Saunière had gone to Paris that year, where he met Emma Calvé, the famous French opera singer. Unfortunately, the engraving has since been destroyed. The fact that the salamander can be connected with this fountain leads one to speculate that there is a fountain in the upper courses of the Blanque River that could be associated with the basilisk.
6.6 The statues and Stations of the Cross It is fascinating to compare the route from the heart of the Rose Line with the Stations of the Cross and the statues in the Rennes-le-Château church. After the statue of St. Germaine — who is connected with the heart of the Rose Line in the cemetery — and the fifth Station of the Cross next to it, one finds the statue of Jesus and John the Baptist, which relates to the Cap de l’Homme. From the cemetery in Rennes-les-Bains, this landmark lies straight across on the plateau to the west of the church. It is admittedly not on the route, but indeed next to it, walking from north to south. It was undoubtedly a prominent landmark in the time of Boudet; anyone following this route would most certainly have at least been aware of it. This, of course, implies that some of the landmarks may lie somewhat away from the route. The next Station of the Cross in the Rennes-le-Château church clearly also bears reference to the Cap de l’'Homme. It is a depiction of St. Veronica gently wiping Jesus’ face, which, according to tradition, left an imprint of Jesus’ face on the cloth. This emphasis on the face of Jesus links it to the Cap de l’Homme. In the background in this Station, there is a soldier with his bended right hand on a white shield above him, which may very well indicate that this landmark is to the right- hand side above the route. Right next to this Station, just before the confessional, one finds the seventh Station of the Cross. This Station includes a curious depiction of a man on the left with his arm bent in an S-shape. This could allude to the Sals River, which does indeed flow past the cemetery in Rennes-les-Bains. From there, the route also leads further along the Sals, which runs to the east. To the west, on top of the plateau, is the Cap de l’Homme. The confessional, again, could be representative of the church of Rennes-les-Bains, which lies exactly there next to the Sals. After the confessional there are two more Stations of the Cross before one again comes to the devil with the holy-water stoup on his hump. Although the devil as well as the water stoup pertain to two landmarks just a short distance further on the route, they form part of a single work of art, so it is unclear to which landmark one has to link that particular point in the Way of the Cross. Earlier on, Jesus and John the Baptist were depicted together, but only Jesus could be linked to a landmark at that specific point on the route. It could be that the devil and the water stoup only serve as background for another landmark at this point on the route, namely a cross. In that case, the Devil’s Armchair as well as the Holy-water Stoup would be connected with this cross, or maybe the shape of a cross in the area. The fact that the cross is the main motif in the artwork, and highlighted by the words, ‘BY THIS SIGN YOU WILL CONQUER him’ (a reference to Constantine’s cross) confirm this assumption. The fact that there are remarkable similarities between the statues and the Stations of the Cross in the Rennes-le-Château church and the route through the Rennes-les-Bains area, leads one to the significant discovery that the riddle in Le serpent rouge is the exact same riddle Saunière and Boudet had hidden in the layout and ornamentation of the Rennes-le-Château church. All that the poet does is to formulate it in a new way. That is why he encourages one to investigate the clues Saunière and Boudet provided. It’s no wonder he says one has to ‘decipher’ these mysterious symbols created by ‘the overseers of the past’ to reach the ‘solution’. One is therefore not only busy solving the riddle, but also the mystery of the two Rennes’s! In view of the fact that the poet is merely reformulating an existing riddle, it stands to reason that he had access to these priests’ secrets. The information contained in the poem is way too detailed, for him and therefore also Pierre Plantard, not to have been involved in the whole enigma.
6.7 Hercules’ magic power In this stanza, the poet also refers to a Greek mythological figure that outwardly has absolutely nothing to do with the region, namely Hercules. In this regard, he links up with Boudet, who also mentions Hercules: ‘There is no doubt that Hercules existed only in Greek and Latin myth; however, it is useful to note, this famous hero [according to Pyrenean’ tales] takes a real consistence and reclothes the character with truth, as soon as he personifies the celtic nation and the migration of this people towards the western lands of Europe.”[45] One wonders whether Pierre Plantard’s other name, Pierre de France, had not also been an allusion to the fact that he, as their supposed rightful king, personified the French people. The poet’s reference to Hercules’ ‘magic power’ implies that the 12 magic tasks he performed are under discussion. These 12 tasks are widely associated with the star signs of the zodiac, implying Hercules also symbolises the sun in its orbit through the zodiac. The poet is therefore not only referring to the signs of the zodiac, but also to Hercules as a symbol of the sun. As was mentioned right at the beginning, the 13 stanzas of the poem Le serpent rouge fall under the signs of the zodiac, with the Serpent-handler as the 13th sign. There are also five stanzas before this one in which Hercules is mentioned, and seven thereafter, which could be representative of the five winter and seven summer months. Bearing all of this in mind, it may very well be that the geometrical pattern to be uncovered in the Rennes-les-Bains region is also somehow related to the sun. Interestingly, in ancient times, the colours white and black were associated with sunrise and sunset. Hercules, as the sun, is therefore also the one standing in the middle of the antipoles white and black. This could be the reason his name too, like that of Jesus and Asmodeus, is written in upper case. Counting the words in this stanza, one discovers that ‘Hercules’ appears right in the middle: there are 36 words before and 36 after it! It may, however, also be that he in actual fact represents the sun child in the arms of the mother, typically depicted with twin figures on either side of her.

—  BASICS.
FULL NAME.  lianor catherine beauchamp PRONUNCIATION.  lee-Ah-nor / lee-a (because her name is not its english form, it retains the portuguese spelling which for me it’s how it is written so 🤞) NICKNAME.  goes by lia since she was born to differentiate herself from her namesake, thus it remains her most common nickname. her father calls her lili on letters sometimes, harry refers to her as princess hampton and her husband brands her as poppet. close friends may find some other variations to her name and she is also called by derogatory infamous name-callings depending on whose faction of the court is gossiping about her. GENDER.  cisfemale. HEIGHT.  5’ 2.75" / 157cm AGE & D.OB.  27 & october 10th 1427 ZODIAC.  libra. SPOKEN LANGUAGES.  english, portuguese, latin, italian, some basic french; currently perfecting her spanish
—  PHYSICAL  CHARACTERISTICS. HAIR COLOR.  bright red EYE COLOR.  bright green. SKIN TONE.  pale, with a peachy undertone. she has a couple scattered birth marks on her cheek and neck, but few freckles on her face; they spread across her shoulders and back mostly. BODY TYPE.  petite stature and a slim, dainty frame. ACCENT.  standard english accent, evident in the way she speaks all other languages but portuguese, in which she has mimicked her mother's lisbon accent. DOMINANT HAND.  right. POSTURE.  straight and proper, but not too rigid -- she is dynamic and moves with grace, tending to reach out towards those she speaks to show off her attention on the interaction.  SCARS.  a faint scar on her left ankle from scrapping it against a sharp sea rock on her childhood years. TATTOOS.  none. BIRTHMARKS. a couple on her cheek and neck, a few more across her back. though she has few freckles by birth, she has gained quite a few by years of exposure to the sun. MOST NOTICEABLE FEATURE(S).  flaming red hair, big green eyes, lithe frame. –  CHILDHOOD. PLACE OF BIRTH.  the beauchamp state at kidderminster, worcestershire. HOMETOWN.   ludlow castle, welsh border. MANNER OF BIRTH.  she was the first born from her parents’ match, and the first of her lineage to be born on the then just finished kidderminster state, after a short month of lying in and nineteen hours of labor. the queen eleanor, her namesake, attended the birth and was her godmother when the girl was christened, a few dayslater. FIRST WORDS.  pa, papa   SIBLINGS. edward (d. 1445), elizabeth and john beauchamp. PARENTS.  beatriz de meneses and richard beauchamp PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT.  because her mother did not abandon her duties to queen eleanor after her marriage, lia was at first raised by her father, as his heir. she has little memories of the time, but she still writes to her father fondly about it, even if the time they spent together all through her life is immensely shorter than the one apart. lia gained her mother's attentions only after the age of three, when beatriz plucked the girl from home to be raised at the royal nursery with clementine; throughout her daughter's life, beatriz has been a defining force, zealously looking out for her own agenda rather than, truly, her daughter's, who has been used more as a shadow or a pawn or her. –  ADULT  LIFE. OCCUPATION.  countess, lady in waiting, mistress to the prince of wales. CURRENT RESIDENCE.  she is often between the hampton court and the official court, when in england. at florence, she keeps her own chambers at the palazzo with the rest of the english party. CLOSE FRIENDS.  clementine and henry plantagenet, rosana braganza, tba. RELATIONSHIP STATUS.  married to thomas montagu, earl of salisbury circa 1449. FINANCIAL STATUS.  though not of royal station, her father was financially comfortable after years of service to the crown, and as she was raised as a companion to the plantagenet children, she was granted equally lavish upbringing. she was married slightly above her station as a baron's daughter, to an earl whose rise in court is more in due to her own private wealth than his own. she currently has various states in her name scattered around england due to harry's generous nature, those currently managed between her and her parents. VICES.  hypocrisy, insecurity and indecisiveness, growing pathological nature, anything sweet, from pastries to fruits. –  SEX  &  ROMANCE. SEXUAL ORIENTATION.  bisexual ROMANTIC ORIENTATION.  heteroromantic. may have had feelings for a woman or two, but those were quickly brushed as a platonic feeling of admiration or sisterly affection. PREFERRED EMOTIONAL ROLE.  submissive  | dominant  |  switch PREFERRED SEXUAL ROLE.  submissive  |  dominant | switch LIBIDO.  depends on the company she keeps. on the marital bed she is lukewarm at best, treating the act as a duty she has to endure , but her passion is easily lit and enjoyed elsewhere. TURN ON’S.  confidence, contrary physical frames (tall, dominant vs small, “frail”), flirtation, good manners, attention. TURN OFF’S.  poor manners, violence/wrath, pettiness and insults, older men. LOVE LANGUAGE.  quality time, followed closely by physical touch. lia is very big on doing things for people she loves, either that being obvious as helping them in daily activities, or learning something for them, doing something to aid in their cause or well being; once she is comfortable, she is naturally touchy. RELATIONSHIP TENDENCIES. the subject of her desire has long been established, and it is prince harry plantagenet that has both her heart and soul. despite the many years and his string of distractions, she remains constant on her affection and faithful to him foremost. her body, however, has to be shared with her husband, thomas montagu, though the relationship remains platonic at best, a humiliation parade for both sides, at its worst.

wip: union
trigger warning for suicide ideation
faye and tobin are not the one either wants. wip for an arranged marriage au.
Cold stony lips. That’s what he remembers when he thinks of their first kiss. She’s stiff and still, almost like the Mila Idols he’s seen across Valentia.
Their vows are said in sorry whispers, almost like they’re being sent to their deaths. Faye is taciturn and has to be reminded to speak hers. When she does, it’s painful and quiet, almost automatic as she repeats the words, “I take thee, to be thine wine and overfill the cup of life with love and happiness... from this day forward in our unified life.”
Love and happiness. In an arranged marriage to a woman he doesn’t know.
Well, it’s not exactly true or false—he’d caught her eyes a few times as a child while playing with his other friends. Once, he’d even caught her careless and lingering eyes at Ram’s wine festival, the one thing her family was known for. He remembers holding her gaze, brow furrowed and lips parted. For a moment, he’d thought she was going to speak to him, but quickly turned away.
So this lacklustre wedding is befit for them: a soldier chasing for a dream he can’t touch, and a village girl running from duty.
Her golden hair is tangled into waves and twisted into a braided crown with pink wildflowers; his military uniform, the only standing he has to compete with her higher class; and two somber frowns. Both silently praying at the altar for some sort of succour to this fate, but knowing that their Earth Mother is dead and divine intervention is far from their hands.
He thinks it’s just—she, a life married to someone other than her lost love, and he, married to a woman he can never have. Her hands are cold in his, held out before her for him to take like he’s receiving a gift. It’s not a happy, joyous occasion; it’s not blessed by the Gods like the sage proclaims, or sacred in the least. It’s a bastard union for a bastard couple.
When he’s told that he may kiss her, she stiffens, still staring him dead in the eyes. He knows he can’t be the man she so desperately wants, the one she lusts for so badly. In truth, he wants nothing more than to say their ceremony is done with and walk away with her. But instead he quickly closes the gap between them and kisses her. Her breath hitches, and he wonders if it’s her first kiss. Probably. She’s the daughter of a high-class family, with holy lineage nonetheless, Her hands tighten in his, and for both their sakes, he finishes it quickly.
Flowers are thrown, rice too. A smile creeps along his face for a brief second as he hears his youngest siblings howl with delight. But when he glances back to her, she’s blank-faced and staring at the ground. He moves her hand to his arm, accepting that she won’t give him the expected outcome—no happy smile, no rosy cheeks, no grasping kisses.
She’s curled into him, her thin arm fragile against his. He’s seen a few weddings before, but not many; he can’t aptly judge if theirs is a thing of beauty or just a thing. He can’t imagine it’s the prior—not with how stiff and lifeless she is. It’s not his place to order her to stand taller, smile wider, laugh heartily. But he can’t help but see his parents’ forced smile at them as they’re applauded.
The ceremony takes up most of the afternoon. Most of Ram Village attends, making it a grand affair. The day passes fairly quickly, but Tobin is still stuck on the thought of his lips against hers and that hitched breath. He’s to walk around with her, show off his pretty new wife that will take over the orchard and hopefully produce Ram Wine once again. That is, if the Mother’s blessing still runs within the land.
He’s seen the state of their orchard, how sad and desolate it looks. He didn’t have to see Mila’s carcass to know that the blessings of
The entire time leading up to their wedding she’s been visibly upset—her face constantly full of tears and pleading with her father to stop this union. But her tears are dry now and her eyes are simply empty of any strong emotion. She’s almost like a battle-dead witch he’d faced in battle. A husk, devoid of care or feeling.
She pulls at her wavy hair, absentmindedly flicking the wispy edges back as she continues to stare at the ground with blank fascination. The wildflowers that had been braided into her crown have begun to wither and wilt. She wears a white robe with gold and pink accents, something he remembers seeing her grandmother sew at diligently when he came over to sit at courtship. He’d sat in the large room with her grandmother working away at the arms of that robe, asking questions about his services and any plans with girlish giggles. As he went to speak about his posting at the Southern Outpost, he heard a door slam and saw Faye storming out with white knuckles and teary-eyes, screaming “I won’t marry him, Pa!” Along with threats to run away as she noticed him sitting with her grandmother. She held his gaze for a minute before leaving and swearing that she wouldn’t return.
He’d heard it all before: she’d run off to castle town and become a seamstress, she’d say her vows as a cleric in service to the Gods, a mercenary, a courtesan if she had to... Everything instead of marrying him. Most of all, to go back and see the commander, King Alm.
In the end, she didn’t win. And now she’s to be his dutiful wife, demure and pretty and devoted to him. But the entire village, even he—the clueless one—know that her affections are saved for one person and one alone.
——
He isn’t sure how long his and Faye’s mothers had been planning their union. Perhaps it came about before they were born, or maybe when he left with Gray and Kliff to serve King Alm. He’s not certain.
But he does remember his Mother’s delight when she said she’d married off two of his younger sisters to a woodsman and a smithy. They were both close in age to him. And he remembers her dauntless smile when she asked if he had found a suitable wife while on his tour of duty. When he painfully said no—although it was a lie, he had met a gorgeous Pegasus knight from blue blood during the war and she ended up running back to her manor with his best friend—his Mother simply patted his hand and smiled. Days later he was told of a possible wife.
Clear memories of that moment flood back to him. Shaky hands as he was told that the girl with a forced smile, thinking that he was coming over for an innocent visit, would be his future wife. How her face cracked from that thin smile into a horrible frown and immediate tears and then the wails and pleads that followed and were promptly hushed.
He can hear those same cries again. He sits in the tiny kitchen of the cottage that was gifted to them by her parents. The cottage is nearly empty, save for an old oak table, some stools and a hearth for cooking. The kitchen has large windows that face the coast of Zofia and the oceans that carry away to other continents.
He wasn’t shocked when they arrived home and Faye had promptly thrown her bouquet of flowers in the hallways and locked her in the bedroom they were to share. It was a heartbreak plain and simple.
Her heart was set on the prince he had been commanded by. When the war came he remembers her trying to enlist as anything they would have her as, but they refused her over and over.
He hears quiet footsteps and then the slam of a door, pulling him out of his sleepy stupor. Pink flower petals mark the floor, leading out the door. He glances out the kitchen window, seeing her white gown in the moonlight as she runs for the shoreline. He stumbles to get up, hurrying outside the cottage and into the tall reeds she passed through.
He sees her standing in the rocky beach, facing the oceans with certain defiance. Her hair whips with the cool night breeze, catching the drape-like sleeves of her robe. She takes a step off the rocks and into the wet sand as he catches up. “Faye,” he calls.
“Go away,” Her voice is sharp, barking in warning as she steps further into the water. The lapping waves lick at her ankles and calves. She takes a deep breath in, a caution to the wind. Her placid nature from their wedding is gone, and replaced with the same passionate fire he’d seen during their quick courtship. He takes a step forwards and she moves further into the water, the hem of her robe growing dark with water. “I said go away!”
“You’re really going to do it?” He asks quietly.
“Do you want to watch?” She asks bitterly, her head whips around and the once-pink flowers that peppered her hair fly out and fall against the grey rocks of the shoreline. There’s huge knots and tangles in her hair, her braided crown falling out. “Gods, why did my Mother pick you...”
He stays quiet as she stares out into the ocean. “I should ask the same thing.” He says. “You’re not the only one who didn’t want this.”
She breathes out a sigh. “Then how could you hold your tongue?” She asks. “You could’ve changed their minds. You carry more weight than me.”
“I couldn’t. I’m just as a victim in this as you are.”
“Really?” She asks her voice sour with contempt. “I don’t doubt that a knight’s word would make a change.”
“She didn’t love me back and I couldn’t change that.” He says simply, taking another step closer. His boots teeter awkwardly against the round and smooth rocks.
She seems to calm, shaking her head. “I don’t even know you,” She spits out angrily. Her voice is hoarse and she’s been crying. “How can you expect me to be your wife when I barely know you.”
“It’s Zofian tra—“
“I don’t care about tradition or duty!” She says in seething anger. “You’re not the man I want!”
“And do you think you’re the woman I want?”
She frowns before taking a step into the ocean, her robe darkening further.
“Stop!” He yells, lurching forwards to grab her shoulder and haul her back.
“Don’t touch me!” She screams, pulling away from him and scratching at his arm.
“I’ll give you a separation, if that’s what you want.” He says, sloshing in the sand with her. “I don’t want to be married to you either, but it’s what we are right now.”
“You wouldn’t give me a void, you’d lose my dowry!” She argues.
His face heats as he leaps down, splashing into the sandy earth and sloshes after her. “I don’t care about the money!” He argues. She lurches into the water, falling back. The waves beat against her shoulders, soaking the robe and her hair. He tries to offer a hand, but she moves back further, still threatening to drown herself as a wave almost swallows her whole.
“Of course you do.” She says. “That’s why they picked you! No one else would have me.”
“I don’t expect you to be my wife, and you shouldn’t expect me to be your husband.”
She takes a step further. “You seriously don’t?” She asks. Her face is lined with worry and confusion. “You don’t want someone to do your cleaning and make your food?”
“I can do both fine by myself.”
“How can I be assured you feel the same?” She asks.
“My word.” She looks unconvinced as he shrugs tiredly, turning back to the rocky shoreline. “Fine.”
He wrenches off the wedding band he’d put on a few hours earlier. His hand feels lighter without it’s weight. He holds it out to her. “There. I don’t want this anymore than you do.”
She takes the brass band from him, her furrowed brow still piercing through him. He walks back through the sand, steps up onto the rocky shoreline and moves back towards the cottage. He turns around, catching her with wide eyes and sitting in the water like a child. “Drown yourself if you want. Just know that I’ve been caught by these hazards too.” He says tiredly before walking back along the rocks and to their home.

S1E1 - VLD Rewatch
Putting this beneath the cut because it’s a long one! Not every episode is gonna prompt this much talking- I hope
And right off the bat I am being teased
Okay so I do remember being a Dreamworks stan when I first started this series and being so excited that Dreamworks’ name was on it. I knew what Voltron was at the time mainly because of my dad; he’d watched 80s Voltron as a kid and would talk about it occasionally which I think is why he puts up with my fanboy bullshit over this cartoon? Anyway I wasn’t ever going to watch Voltron at first, and the main reason I started the series was for the bonds with the Lions- I was a weird child
When I saw the Kerberos mission I do remember thinking “oh shit this is gonna be boring” and then BOOM aliens. Also, it hurts me watching Shiro in so much pain and terror
I immediately fell for the Garrison trio, no doubt about that. Everything they do is perfect. And Jesus Christ, Iverson is such a dick
Pidge being smug about building her own computer is my life. Also love the scary little sketches of Voltron she did
“That’s NOT one of ours!” PLOT TWIST Shiro’s in there
Lance focusing on a pretty girl instead of the literal alien spaceship is a mood
“Don’t put me under!” God I can’t imagine how horrifying this would be. Imagine going through all that and developing PTSD and then hearing your brain state is about to be altered so that you’re completely under someone else’s control I hate the Garrison for doing this to Shiro
“We need a distraction” BOOM KEEF
I want him to hit me that hard
Bring back the red bandana 2k18
Yeah I immediately shipped Klance regardless of my plans not to ship anything it was inevitable okay I was and still am a sucker for rivals to lovers
The moment Keith smirks and decides to jump the cliff was the moment I fell in love with him
I was a blind dumbass and didn’t actually ship Sheith until s2, but looking back now I think that was more my determination not to get into shipping anything than not liking Sheith because DAMN these two
Poor Pidge
Keith is so pretty
Smart Hunk
Also why would a frequency be shaped like a line of rock outcroppings is that an actual thing
Never did understand that
iS tHiS tHe VoLtRon
“Looks like there's a forcefield around it” no shit
Blue loves you baby #sheslookingatLance
So much screaming
Whenever someone makes fun of the group for screaming so much in the first episode I just
How wOULD YOU REACT
tHE PURRING
Lance immediately connects with Blue so deeply that he's able to pilot and fight a Galra ship even though he has so little experience and being the “worst pilot ever” according to Keith I love him
“Guess we're all ditching class tomorrow” and the next year?
K/L banter is my favorite kind of banter
“I'm not gonna let it happen again” Shiro, I love you, but this is an entire castle full of aliens as far as you know
“I guess we're going that way” I'd be the asshole exploring every inch of the castle EXCEPT for where it wanted to guide me
One of Coran's first words is fuck
Alexa this is so sad play d
Zarkon it took you 10,000 years and you still only have one lion?
Fuck you, Sendak
I forgot when he didn't look a crazed evil asshole
You forget to mention the Yellow Lion can kick some ass just like Hunk
Keith's so pleased to get Red it's adorable
I would not mind being stuck on the Green lion's planet for the rest of my life at all
YELLOW LION YELLOW LION
SASSY HUNK 💛💛💛💛💛
Shiro's so fucking cute help me
He unknowingly comforts Pidge with her own father's words I'm crying
GO. BE GREAT.
Hunk saving Lance and Blue in Yellow by exploding out of the ground will always be my favorite lion moment in the entire show
“Your suits of armor” that don't protect half your vital organs and won't match your lions for most of the show ANYWAY
eVERYONE REASSURING KEEF ABOUT FINDING RED HHHHHHH
“They LIED to us!” Or you scared the shit out of them by firing up the tractor beam?
cOmMaNdEr hOLt iS yOuR fAtHeR!?
bY mYsELf?? Keef honey
“Patience… yields focus… Gotcha” GHHHHGHHHHHHH

I AM YOUR PA-LA-DIN
I'M BONDING WITH YOU
GOOD KITTY
LET'S ROLL
fuck me I forgot I'd have to handle seeing Shiro fighting
FUCK EM UP HUNK
Not that I don't love Keith as a leader but watching Shiro meeting Black for the first time is hurting my heart
Red is smaller than Blue
cOmBiNe!!!
“It's been an honor flying with you boys” this line BROKE MY HEART the first time I heard it and it BREAKS MY HEART NOW never tell me Keith is disrespectful or doesn't care about his team he's known this group of rowdy kids for what a DAY and uses what could be his last words to say THAT??? And yes I am going into more detail on this later
Sendak’s “I just shat myself” face when he first sees Voltron is beautiful
The contrast between (most) Galra's cowardice and team Voltron's determination to keep going no matter what kills me
