Snow Goose
I went for a quick ride out to The Chappell Marsh the morning of Monday, 5 September 2022. The small area that hasn’t completely dried up was just teeming with birds - loads of Canada Geese and assorted shore birds and ducks - even a Great Blue Heron! In the middle of it all was a big white bird - not Pelican big - it was the same size as the Canada Geese! It was far to busy preening (or resting) to lift up it’s head for me to get a proper look - or a decent picture…
Ugh... geese... such divas...

Product design and psychology: The Art of Teasing Future Content in Video Game Design
Keywords: Teasing Future Content, Video Gaming, Game Design, Player Engagement, Psychological Manipulation
Abstract:
This paper investigates the technique of teasing future content as a form of psychological manipulation used in video game design to maintain and enhance player engagement. We provide an in-depth exploration of this strategy's implementation and implications through several illustrative case studies, offering a comprehensive overview from a product design viewpoint.
Introduction:
In an increasingly competitive gaming landscape, companies employ various techniques to retain player interest over extended periods. One such method is the tease or hinting at future content, fostering a sense of anticipation and curiosity among players. This paper seeks to delve into this technique's intricacies, its deployment in video game design, and its effects on player behaviour.
Teasing Future Content in Gaming: Conceptualization and Design
Teasing future content is a psychological strategy that exploits curiosity and anticipation, often creating a buzz around upcoming game features, levels, characters, or story developments. Game designers can implement these teases in numerous ways, from subtle in-game hints, trailers, or official announcements, to Easter eggs that hint at future developments.
Case Study: Fortnite
Epic Games' Fortnite is a prime example of effective content teasing. Every season of the game is preceded by a series of hints, clues, and events that foreshadow the upcoming theme. This strategy keeps the player base engaged, speculating about the future content, and eager to continue playing the game.
Case Study: World of Warcraft
Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft often utilizes the technique of teasing future content through its expansive narrative. In-game events, quests, and even non-player character dialogue can hint at future expansions, generating discussion and excitement within its player community.
Implications for Game Design
While teasing future content can effectively boost player engagement and game longevity, it's important for game designers to manage player expectations carefully. Failure to deliver on the hype created by teases can lead to player disappointment and backlash. It's crucial to balance the thrill of anticipation with the fulfilment of player expectations.
Conclusion
Teasing future content in video game design presents a fascinating method of piquing player interest and extending game lifespan. However, managing player expectations and delivering on the hype are critical aspects of this strategy. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, it will be insightful to see how game designers refine the art of the tease to create immersive, enduring gaming experiences.

Julia was part of this ridiculous and fun re-working of “I Know It’s Today.” Put together but Ellyn Marsh and Ben Bogen, the video included a plethora of theatre folk including Andy Karl, Orfeh, Lesli Margherita, Andrew Chappelle, Nick Adams, Max Crumm, Tommy Bracco, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Lauren Molina, Nick Cearly, Julia Mattison, Morgan James, Natalie Clater, Julia Murney, Cody Cobbler, Ashley Blanchet, Brandon Uranowitz, Marissa Rosen, Bonnie Milligan, Alex Newell, and Josh Lamon.
One of the most expensive movies of 1930 was a sci-fi musical comedy titled Just Imagine, a silly mash-up of great sets, terrible acting, and a vision of the future fifty years hence that was way off the mark.
Nov. 29, 1930 cover by Victor Bobritsky.
Not that the film ever set out to be an accurate prediction of the future. Nevertheless, it is instructive (or, at the least, amusing) to look back…

⤹ i am super multifandom and i'm too lazy to make a sideblog for all of my interests so you're just gonna have to deal with me talking about a new thing every once in a while on here
⤹ if i know you irl i am BLOCKING YOU!!! LEAVE!!! also not an irl but margaret fuck off you know who you are (i know this won't stop you i just think it's funny)
⤹ if i ever do something you think might be problematic just send me an ask or dm and i'll do whatever i can to fix that!
⤹ i'm not really the best at reading tone, so i would appreciate if you sometimes used tone indicators when talking to me :) i also have rsd and general anxiety, so i might think you hate me sometimes lol
⤹ since i'm in the grishaverse fandom i wanted to note that i really don't like the SaB show, and i will occasionally talk/reblog things about it. if you're super attached to it this is probably not the blog for you.
⤹ i occasionally make kms jokes.
⤹ i block ppl a lot sorry (i'm a firm believer in protecting my peace! you're probably safe if we're mutuals dw)
⤹ i go through and delete old reblogs a lot, just so i don't clutter my blog. sorry if you were looking for something and can't find it, it's probably because of that. (i especially delete like awareness posts and stuff like that. i mostly just reblog them to signal boost and not have on my blog like all the other stuff)
TAGGING SYSTEM:
⤹ "#melro talks" for my text posts, "#marsh art" or "#my art" for... my art, obviously... but i also have my art archive sideblog for easier viewing :)
⤹ if i'm reblogging something that needs a content warning i tag it with "#cw [thing]" (for example: "#cw f slur", "#cw trypophobia", "#cw racism", etc.)
⤹ i tag almost all my posts with basic tags like "text", "images", etc. and a fandom tag if it applies. i'm an eye avatar and have chronic archiving disease /j
⤹ i forget to tag spoilers, blood, artistic nudity, and other such things a LOT sorry
⤹ i don't tag bugs and just any animals at all
DO NOT FOLLOW:
(i know these lists don't work but i just like leaving this stuff known)
⤹ hard nsfw accounts. i don't have anything against you guys, i'm just a minor and would rather not have straight up porn blogs following me lol. if you draw or rb occasional (soft) nsfw that's fine as long as you tag it.
⤹ you're one of those people who force their beliefs onto other people. for example atheists who constantly post/reblog things shitting on religious people, or christians who constantly comment "jesus saves" on stuff (nothing against christians as a whole!! you guys are cool, it's just an example i see a lot)
⤹ if you're over 20-ish you can follow me, i would just rather you not interact very closely with me
⤹ you knowingly support problematic people
⤹ i'd also rather not have people who support mspec lesbians following me
Late afternoon/early evening of Saturday, 21 May 2022, I rode out to the Chappell Marsh Conservation area again. I spotted a few smallish shorebirds out on the flat, dried up area that once was a marsh, but they were too far off to clearly identify. I also spotted a pair of greyish-brownish ducks. Initially I thought it might be two female Mallards. After a bit more careful observation, I was pretty sure they weren't, but had no idea what they WERE! So I took notes and made very rough sketches and when I got home I figured out I'd seen a pair of Gadwalls. I've since seen a few more again at the Chappell Marsh and others in the Northeast Swale.
It is the end of May 1, the third day of the Saskatoon City Nature Challenge April 29 to May 2. Thanks to everyone who has added observations on iNaturalist! Come out on Monday May 2, and make a difference!
It was an interesting day to follow through on the Insect Workshop. So, when you take a peek into pond water of marshes like the Chappell Marsh at Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area, there are bugs in the water swimming around! Here is a Pond Life video of the Caddisfly larva which was found! And following up on the Fungi including Lichen Workshop, 60 different observations have taken place for Lichen and shelf fungi are being noted at this time of the year.
Stay tuned for the follow up identification party virtual zoom workshops so you can discuss your finds during the City Nature Challenge with specialists!
And, now just a bit of a word about our Saskatoon and Area Species at Risk which were found so far…By randomly taking pictures across Saskatoon and area, it is fantastic what was discovered! Read more about the endangered species!

The trip was planned so that each loser got to choose one destination.
Everyone assumed Richie had picked LA because he wanted to move out there some day, to try his big mouth on the big screen and see where the fuck that was going to take him. But, Richard Tozier had a secret… well, he had many secrets, to be clear. There was the one about how his retainer gave him a lisp, so he only wore it at night, as well as the secret about how his gpa is not a prime number, as he claims it to be (although, the losers club were well aware of his 4.0)
Oh yeah, and there was that secret about how he was completely in love with his best friend, Eddie Kaspbrak.
But he was more focused on the one secret he has yet to tell a soul: that he booked an audition in LA.
Okay, sure, the boy isn’t daft enough to believe he will actually get the part as an opening act for Dave Chappelle’s comedy tour-- but whether or not he succeeds in this audition will help him with an ultimately larger decision.
Whether or not to dorm at UCLA with Eddie Kaspbrak and follow his dreams, or accept his acceptance to MIT’s Biological and biomedical science program.

INDIES 75 GREATEST WORLD BATSMEN (TEST + ODI CRICKET COMBINED) OF ALL TIME (150+ yrs) !
Given that ckt-viewing has traditionally been one of the most occupying & engaging activities of the culture as well as pastime, of more than a handful of top nations of the world, for atleast the past ¾ century, that we know of via video footage, we at Indies landed up on an exciting idea of compiling a most comprehensive list of the Greatest 75 World Batsmen (Test + ODI cricket combined) Of All Time!
This idea of a combined (Test + ODI) list seemed the most compelling to Indies, given it’s cricketing outlook/ideology of considering Test match cricket to essentially be 2 100 over-a—side games clubbed together & carrying forward from one to the other, at end of which one side OUGHT to win.
And so players with a solid yet winning game, contributing towards win of their side, thru their careers, across eras, continents, continental playing conditions, & different legendary oppositions, in both the (longer) formats, mostly make the cut!
PS. Also included in this greatest of all cricket lists, are those first-class batsmen, who despite less opportunities on intl circuit given political or other climes of times, stacked up such huge numbers, displaying such high skill sets, broke their way into this list, even via back door route. And fairly & squarely at that!
And criteria of ranking, that also partly & most weightily reflects this aspect, broadly including factors like:
1. Technical skill set
2. Physical/Statistical contribution to the game, given their era & conditions of play.
3. Aesthetic cultural value to the connoisseur.
&
4. Their contribution to the legacy of the game.
