this is the first time I'm seeing a IF game where you play as a cult member and you know... I'm digging it hell yeahhh

can I ask for some random facts about the ROs?

Tbh cults are such a fascinating topic for me, and I am so dissappointed there arent more games... but this also means I am one of the first to write a game like that which is nice.

Thrush:

-he once had a pet fish named Aloysious, until he decided to set it free and dumped it into the river (his parents were not amused but understood his motivation)

-he loves to go hiking and will know the most scenic route in the surrounding forest (picnic date? you bet)

-he has the most contact to the Stray world

Astoria:

-despite how she seems she doesnt have anything against Strays... as long as they arent too noisy and leave her alone

-she loves Jane Austen and takes pride in her very old collection of books

-one time she tamed a crow and it followed her everywhere

Chase:

-he eats at McDonalds to spite his parents, he doesnt even like the food

-he knows how to dance the Charleston (Fuchsia teached (help is that correct??) him)

-he has played every Silent Hill and Resident Evil game and actually likes both

Fuchsia:

-her favourite movie is "Bringing up Baby" 1938

-she enjoys cooking and baking, vintage dresses, but wont hesitate to throw a punch "Old aesthetic not old values" is her life motto

-she would be so jealous of Astis books

Would Charleston react any way to his bf Gabriel who’s fascinated with ghost investigation shows? Would he watch them with him?

Charleston wouldn’t understand the fascination with a bunch of humans who are not truly a part of the supernatural community. The shows are gimmicky and show how easily humans are frightened of things that go bump in the night when most of them have no idea of what lurks there. However he would watch them in order to spend time with his bf. Expect much grumpy commentary and annoyed huffing, however.

My choice ft. Charleston~~~~You can feel him behind you, a solid presence. Idly you rub at your forehead, sitting up and grimacing as your back and neck pop. “Why isn’t it enough that we catch the criminals? Why do we have to do all this paperwork too?” you complain, shaking out your hand.

“If you stayed caught up on it, it would be less tedious,” Charleston rumbles, leaning over the back of your chair. “This is from over two weeks ago.”

“Some of us have to at least attempt to be good parents,” you say defensively. You had hoped one of the perks of being a human undercover would be less paperwork, but you’re starting to think there’s more of it.

“You are a good parent,” Charleston informs you, reaching over and turning off the monitor.

“You know it’s hard to fill out anything if I can’t see,” you start, and then groan as two rough hands start massaging your shoulders.

“What was that? Don’t stop?” Charleston’s voice lilts with amusement as you melt into his hands. 

“Uh-huh,” you grunt, eyes closing as you lean back into his grip. It’s a good thing no one else is here, because the sounds spilling from your lips are positively indecent.

“All that tension doesn’t help. Need to say supple and flexible.” His voice is closer to your ear, dropping in volume and key. It goes straight down your spine, causing you to shiver.

“You complaining that I’m not flexible enough for you?” You ask as your neck is rolled to either side.

“I think we may need to put you through your paces.” Teeth scrape over the shell of your ear, and you shiver, skin breaking out into goosebumps.

“And how--” Again, your words are interrupted, this time by a gasp as Charleston’s chapped lips brush against the nape of your neck, his hands pressing you down, a reminder of his strength. His breath is warm and moist across the small hairs, each brush of his mouth causes little jolts of pleasure and anticipation to go through you.

Then he’s gone, and a short whine of protest escapes you.

“But unfortunately, that has to wait until someone is caught up on their work,” Charleston muses, looking completely unaffected.

You grimace, flicking the monitor back on. “Tease,” you mumble.

“Only because you make it so easy,” Charleston replies with a chuckle, going back to his own desk.

You got any headcanons about the sides (Virgil especially) dancing?

I LOVE dancing hc‘s and dancing in general (I can’t dance to save my life but I love watching talented people do it lol) SOOOOO

Roman dances the most (at first, anyway) - he’s got the physique for it, and he’s fanciful enough that any style that suits his mood in the moment is one he wants to learn pronto

He does flashy twirls and complicated steps when he’s in front of the others, usually accompanied by obnoxiously loud Disney songs, and he’s not hesitant to tug the closest Side into an impromptu duet at any time

Patton loves it, even though he has two left feet and is by far the clumsiest Side

Logan swears up and down he hates it, but he’s always pretty eager to show Roman up and pull out some surprisingly good ballroom techniques - he loves waltzes, because the set base rhythm (3 beats) is so methodical and it’s, in his opinion, the classiest style

Virgil... well, Virgil takes convincing.

Roman tries to get Virge to dance all the time - the anxious side just digs his heels into the floor and refuses to budge, and Roman is left confused and mildly annoyed, but he never stops trying

It isn’t until Ro is humming Once Upon a Dream to himself in the living room one quiet afternoon that he sees Virgil swaying along on the couch - Ro sees his chance and holds a hand out to him, trying not to get too hopeful (but that’s also kind of his job, so it’s difficult), but his heart soars when Virge stares for a second and slowly takes it, letting the fanciful side pull him out of his seat

Virge seems a bit uncomfortable, but he knows the hand position for the simple little waltz Roman pulls him into, and his mouth even twitches into a smile when Roman starts singing the words to the song instead of humming (Ro swears he hears Virge mutter some of the lyrics along with him)

Later, when he walks to his room, Roman hears Once Upon a Dream drifting from behind Virgil’s door; he peeks in and sees Virge tracing their steps by himself, his tongue peeking out between his lips and his brow furrowed but his movements fluid and practiced

Virgil starts watching dancing videos - mainly because they’re calming to watch, and it helps his nerves to count out the rhythms when he’s anxious, but also because he maps their steps

He has a surprisingly good memory with them??? He just watches the dancers and retraces their movements (usually in his room, alone, thank you very much) - he especially likes adding emotion to the dances (he has a lot of pent-up negativity, alright, and it’s nice to have an exhaustive outlet)

One of the only dances Pat is good at is the shag (it’s a really fun and upbeat lil jig - if you’ve never seen the movie Shag, please go watch it because it’s the cutest thing ever) - Roman does it with him all the time; Virgil slowly learns it and offers to dance it with him when Pat is upset; Logan learns it after Pat gushes about it so often, and only to see Patton’s face light up when he’s able to dance it with the moral side

Virgil loves to dance in the rain - they all expected it from Roman (and the prince does love a good Singing In the Rain re-enactment) but there’s something so cleansing about dancing with thunder and rainfall as your only music, Virge would stay out forever if the sun would take the hint and stay gone for a bit longer

Virge actually doesn’t like hip hop, despite the others expecting him to - it’s too much motion for him, it makes him feel overwhelmed when he tries to follow along - but he loves ballet. The delicacy and care put into the moves fascinates him, and he and Roman always watch the Royal Opera House ballet livestreams together over snacks

Patton??? Can dance the Charleston??

Every time he does it, Logan becomes more convinced of him being some sort of time traveling figment

Just Dance becomes a very popular family game night activity verrrrrry quickly

(Roman gets way too into it)

do you have any fav cog you would recommend?

I’m a broke ass bitch and as such, I cannot play as many games as I’d like so I can’t recommend any already published CoG/HG games, except for one.

I adore Fallen Hero: Rebirth and I’m so excited for Retribution. The premise and world is so interesting, I love the writing, and especially I love the MC. As someone with trauma and subsequent mental illnesses and a fascination with trauma-related fiction, I have never connected with an MC more than while I was reading FH. The not liking looking in the mirror, not liking people looking at or touching you, when Ortega calls you out by being like, “can you say you’re doing a good job taking care of yourself” and you know you can’t so you don’t even directly answer him. All that stuff hit so close to home it was almost painful. (Ortega is my fave RO btw. I need that angst, you guys)

There are also WIPs on the forum I can recommend, but god there’s so many I liked I’ve lost track. Lemme try and list them

The Shadow Society by @carawenfiction I’m a beta for this WIP. Carawen is taking a break right now and I hope she can come back refreshed and better than before, but you should definitely try out the demo. "Mi' ---ahh Papa!" Fergus excitedly runs into his parents bunkroom. Jamie seats up, dislodging Claire who had been asleep across his chest.

"Wha!" She mummors.

"Fergus what is it?" Jamie asks grabbing his wife before she falls off the bunk.

"You must come! Right away."

"Is someone hurt or ill, Fergus?" Claire wakes enough ro ask.

"I don't ken mama. Please come Papa."

"Fergus, what is going on?"

"Just come and you will see."

"We both will."

They follow their son down to the berch of the ship. Claire had grabbed her medical box on the way, unsure of who or what they will find. Fergus still will not tell them what is going on. He just insist they hurry.

They come to the very back part of the ship. It is where the cargo is stored. The cargo that Jamie will be in charge of off-loading and finding buyers for when they reach Charleston. As for now, he has naught to do with it and hadn't been to this part of the ship.

"I've brought him and a surprise." Fergus whispers to someone, as yet unseen.

"Who's there Fergus?" Jamie demands.

"Papa, come see." Fergus steps out of the way and Jamie gasps.

"O' Dhai, is it really ye?" He falls down beside the huddled figure.

"Aye, I ne' thought I would see ye again."

"Oh Christ." Jamie falls into his Godfather's arms and weeps. "Murtagh!"

"Jamie lad. Oh Jamie." They both cry until Jamie recovers enough to remember his wife.

"Murtagh, see who else is here." Claire steps into the circle of light from the latern.

For some reason tumblr has really just not wanted me to answer this question by deleting my answer multiple times but I have finally triumphed to answer this.

Also, this is in part because of an ongoing semi-war between me and @sosthemortalcoil involving angst and… ok, well, not-fluff because apparently fluff is harder than it looks. But if you haven’t read Son of Satan: The Mortail Coil, I 120% recommend it, it is fantastic and has too many fantastic characters which made choosing them extremely difficult.

Finley: Honestly Sabriel and Finley would get along amazingly. Also bonus: I get the sense that they would be the type of people where anyone in their general proximity would be unable to understand anything that they’re saying to one another as they’d end up communicating through the language of Sarcasm.Raf: To be entirely honest, I feel like Raf could and would fall for a plethora of people in the SoS story… (Ramiel, Alice, Stephanie, and Iain to name a few) but would also be far too intimidated by them to actually say anything. i feel so goddamn ridiculous for asking this, but im really curious about what are the ROs favorite genre of *adult films*? 😖💦 do they even have time for that??? idk dude

I don’t really know what is entailed by genre of adult films. Most of the cast doesn’t like watching them. (See here)

For the ones who would watch, a little more below.

1. Alice: She’s here to poke fun at it, so whatever

2. Stephanie: She doesn’t watch them on her own and hasn’t watched any before so she has no idea where to start.

3. Charleston: You’re not watching for him. He’ll watch if you put something on but that’s on you.

4. Leo: Not interested on watching on his own time and doesn’t want to watch with Gabriel either but will if they enjoy it.

5. Ramiel: Doesn’t watch for himself, doesn’t care.

I Just Don’t

Pairings: sorta Logicality and Prinxiety

Before ceramic came crashing down, Logan was sitting. Which was the action of placing your buttocks on a surface while resting your legs. He was eating a slice of white bread with a thin layer of Crofters on top. Sitting right on a kitchen stool next to the emotional personality trait, Patton. Who was eating a specialty from Australia called Fairy Bread. Why it was called Fairy Bread was an absolute and utter mystery to Logan. But Patton seemed to enjoy it, which was confusing to Logan for it was simply butter spread onto bread with a collection of sprinkles. Patton shoved it down his throat anyway.

Logan took a sip of his bitter coffee as he turned off his tablet and tucked it into his computer bag. Noticing that Patton was getting his sprinkles all over the place and also the arrival of Virgil and Roman. Those two were not showing any form of altruism or intimacy despite being a couple. Bickering like two children, screeching back and forth. Logan looked down at his coffee mug and noticed the letters of the mug vibrating due to the strong increase in sound vibrations.

He placed it down and sighed. Ever since the two were found pressing their lips to each other’s in the bathtub when Patton was trying to remove mud from a kid who hated him for winning a game of hide and seek, Virgil on the bottom and Roman on top of the angsty trait. And ever since, the sound of frequent and rather irritating bickering had been ringing in Logan’s ears like a telephone that couldn’t be turned off.

Logan could only hear brief snippets of the conversation. Which involved them screeching about Virgil not being willing to do something. Logan was actually going to burst into the rules of human right that when Virgil snapped at Roman.

“I don’t dance Roman. I just don’t. Get over it.” Virgil was practically snarling at Roman at this point.

Dancing? This was what their thunderous and deafening back and forth bickering is about? With the volume and the high pitched frequency, it sounded like they were arguing about something more… important. Like bills or the increase in taxes, or even better, Donald Trump. But then dancing? It seemed adequate, a measly reason to be fighting over.

Roman threw his hands up, “Oh come on Virgil! Don’t you ever just want to dance in the middle of the room when no one is watching? Do the elegant art of the flamenco? Or maybe the cha-cha or the tango?”

Virgil facepalmed, “Ro, first things first, I have absolutely no idea what the flamingo is. And second, I’m internally dead and internally dead people do not do the freaking furry-fest. Last, not everyone likes the same dances as you do Disney Reject.”

“Oh excuse me!” Roman said with a whole lot of dramatic flair, the dramatic hand over heart stance, “it. Is. The. Flamenco. And don’t call me that Little Miss Sunshine!” Logan could see his fingers itching to grab ahold of his katana.

Logan rubbed his temple, “Excuse me, but may you two stop blabbering gobbledygook? It is an untimely time to talk about this.”

Virgil rolled his eyes, “Sorry Lo, not-so-sorry Roman. Hey, can you pass me the cereal?”

Logan handed the cereal to Virgil. The angsty trait checked the expiry date and poured a fair amount of cereal in. Patton finally shoved the last piece of fairy bread down his throat. Roman, was getting a mug out of the cabinet by the handle with his katana. It wasn’t strange in this house, for when Roman gets frustrated he uses his katana for everything. Even eating and writing.

Patton made this little cute voice, “Awh… you shadowy bundle of darkness!”

The youngest trait slowly turned around at Patton, “Um.. yeah?”

“Verge, do you know how to dance your Pollywag off?”

Logan looked at Patton, “Pollywag is not a word found in the dictionary.”

“It’s a Pokémon LoLo,” Patton patted Logan’s hair, “anyway, do you know how to dance?”

“Pssh. Of course. Edgily and freaking unsteady like I am.” Virgil poured the milk into his cereal.

“DON’T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT YOURSELF LIKE THAT I-”

Logan slammed a hand over Patton’s mouth, “’-will physically fight you’.”

Patton did the ‘I’m-watching-you’ sign with one of his serious faces. The one with the peace sign pointing to the person’s eyes then the person they were aiming the sign at.

Roman was cutting a piece of toast (with a katana), “If you can dance Virgil, then why don’t you show me?” He let out a sigh.

Virgil spooned the cereal to his mouth. “I just don’t wanna. I have rights as a person.”

“Pardon me, but was exhibiting the art of movement to each other was this bout’s topic?” Logan asked.

“Oh yes. Virgil refuses to show me what he dances like. I already showed my awesome dance moves of-” Roman struck a dramatic pose, “the tango.”

Logan blinked. He was sort of surprised from the random pose that Roman just assumed though he shouldn’t be. He cleared his throat, “Virgil, why did you decide it was your utmost need to commit to a relationship with this vivid man?”

Virgil started laughing, “You spoke my words for me.”

“Hey!” Roman’s face slowly turned red.

“Kiddos, don’t insult Roman like that!” Patton pouts.

Virgil rolls his eyes, “Fine.. hey Pat, can you even dance?”

Patton grins, “Yes! Of course, I can! Gee, but I can’t remember the last time I danced! That was fun!”

“The last time recorded in which you danced was located in the living room, you decided it was the best time to perform when Genius was the program exhibiting on the TV,” Logan responded, taking a sip of his coffee.

“Oh, thanks Lo! I can do the Charleston and the Swing!” Patton grins again. When will this guy’s smile go away? Not ever it seemed.

“Last night, you attempted to do the dance declared as the Backpack Boy dance and it failed miserably like an unfair science experiment.” The logical trait added.

Virgil snorted, “Dang Pat. Didn’t know that.”

Patton laughed it off, “Ah kids these days. You guys don’t even know the Charleston!”

Roman gasped, brandishing his katana in the air. “THAT IS PREPOSTEROUS! I DO KNOW WHAT THE CHARLESTON IS!”

“Alright kiddo. What is it?”

“T-that… OVERWATCH CHARACTER DANCE THING!” Roman yelled again, waving his sword again.

“I think he’s talking about Tracer’s dance emote for the Overwatch Anniversary Event,” Virgil said, nearly done with his cereal.

“I have absolutely no idea who that is!” Patton states excitedly. “But it’s a really energetic dance that I like!”

“It’s also extremely old and danced in the 1920’s, people called ‘flappers’ usually danced it,” Logan said, standing up with his coffee mug in his hand.

“Yay! Logan knows about it!” Patton smiles again, the sentence made Logan blush a bit. “I would definitely show you kiddos, except full belly and if I dance too much my stomach is going to hurt.”

Roman grinned, “Okay, it’s alright. We don’t want you to hurt yourself Padré.”

Virgil chuckled and snorted, “Hey Lo, get the camera. Ro is being sincere for once.”

The royal trait gasped, “Oh excuse me you foul yet kissable changeling! That comment makes me want to chase you around with Mulan in my hands!”

“Oh man…” Virgil was smiling, one of those rare smiles that all of Thomas’s viewers adored. Logan could see him trying (and failing) to stifle his laughter. “You named your katana? Mulan? I never would have imagined that. What’s next Ro-Ro? Your sash?”

“D-Don’t you dare insult Percival you baloney witch!”

“You named your sash too?”

“ARGH! By Medusa’s Gorgons, do I need to cut you down with the mighty powers of Mulan?” Roman growled, raising Mulan into the air.

Patton threw a bunch of sprinkles into the couples’ faces. “Now shut your pollywog! Kiddos, stop fighting!”

Logan rubbed his temple again, “I agree with Patton.”

Roman pouted, “Fine. Hey, Logan may I ask a question?”

“Of course,” Logan replied, in the middle of filling his cup with coffee.

“If I do the magnificent art of the tango, Patton does the Charleston and Virgil does the emo edge lord-”

Virgil threw a plate at Roman, who deflected it with Mulan. The plate landed into the sink with a satisfying 'plunk’.

“-then what dance do you do?”

Logan ’s grip on his coffee mug tightened, his hand shaking in the process. He looked at the faces of the other sides, Virgil had his 'what the hell?’ face directed at his significant other, Patton looked excited and Roman was looking expectantly at Logan with one eyebrow raised. Logan could see the knuckles on his hand turn white. No, no, no. Not now, not ever. The words seemed to stick to his throat.

“As much as I would like some fruitin’-tootin’ answers, you don’t need to tell us, Logan.” Patton said, his face looked concerned.

The words that came out of his throat were pathetic and dumb. He seemed to echo Virgil.

“I do not dance. I just do not. I just don’t.”

In a panic, and in absolute fear, he gripped the handle of the mug even tighter. He did not notice the cracks throughout the ceramic.

“Awh.. sorry to hear that Lo.”

Roman frowned, “What is up with dancing and the sides on the right side of the room? Is there something we don’t know of?”

And with that, the handle of the coffee mug exploded. The ceramic shrapnel went everywhere. This left the rest of the mug in gravity’s hands, where it fell to the floor and shattered in all directions. Logan looked at his hand and noticed quite a large amount of blood on his hand, he touched his face and cursed as he realized there was blood there too. Now the floor was stained with coffee and blood. He took quick notice of the other sides’ faces. Virgil had just pushed the prince off his chair and was stomping on him angrily, cursing his boyfriend while Patton stared at him, shocked. His eyes were wide and his hands were put over his mouth.

He cleared his throat as grabbed his computer bag, “Excuse me, I have matters to attend to.”

With that, Patton watched as Logan faded out of sight.
