It was another day of traveling for me. This time I have learned not to get too greedy with my traveling that I would end up scheduling one thing after another and end up missing a lot of stuff if my schedule doesn't go as planned. I have allocated this whole day for traveling from Chefchaoen to Fez. Looking at the map, you would think that it would be short ride but this won't be the case. Some parts of these would be mountain roads so you can't really drive fast. The bus seems to be large and comfortable enough for what I expect to be a four hour drive.
People Highlights by Trey Ratcliff Still adding to my "People" highlights over on Instagram... maybe adding 10 or so a day to fill it up with my favorite people shots. Instagram highlights are great, but you don't get to hear any of the stories about these people... that's one of the multitude things I don't like about Insta... it's a bit OVERLY visual. Anyway, as for this dude, he was a Berber gentleman I met in Chefchaoen. Before I went there, I mistakenly assumed they were a sect of Islam. Well, I was totally wrong about that! Anyway, we spent the day together while he told me all about the Berbers... and he even gave me a knife and showed me how to get water out of a camel without hurting it (too much). I mean, I don't know how a camel feels pain, but he patted me on the shoulder and said, don't worry, don't worry. The water was pretty good, but it tasted a bit... hmmm, how do you say it... camelly? https://flic.kr/p/2jwZycE
Chefchaoen, Morocco - What to Expect (Warts and All)
Chefchaoen, Morocco – What to Expect (Warts and All)
Chefchaoen. As the light fades, I’m listening to children playing outside. The journey from Fès was an eye-opener. In the end, I think I lost count of the donkeys. Solitary donkeys. Families on donkeys. Donkeys everywhere.
Only a hop, skip and a jump from Europe, Morocco can feel like a world apart. As for Chefchaoen, like the nickname ‘the Blue City’ suggests, it’s very, very blue.
Chefchaoen is the city that received the Muslims after their expulsion from Andalusia, it is an ancient city which has a very large and rich history, for this reason the visitor can find adventure and seek new things, discover lots of things, enjoy silence and respect. This charming city has splendid neighborhoods, all the buildings
The rain was continuing all throughout the night so I had no illusions on what kind of weather it would be the following day. It didn't really matter anymore since I would be leaving Chefchaoen that morning. It is a pity that I didn't get the nice weather I was hoping for. But maybe that would be a reason for me to come back here. I checked out of the Hotel Al Kalaa and made my way down the bus station. This trek was much easier than the one going up the mountain. It was fortunate that the weather wasn't as bad anymore.
Chefchaoen is as amazing as they say. Door to our hotel, Dar Mounir, on the left. #morocco #chefchaoen #africa #northafrica #bluecity #travel #blue via Instagram http://ift.tt/2y0gUYd
If I could go anywhere in the world, I think I’d want to visit Morocco, specifically Chefchaoen. I saw photos of the blue buildings ages ago, and since then I’ve always thought it was so beautiful. Thank you for asking 💕
