Saw this label while looking for whitening toothpaste at target today and I just want to say that as an aspiring species of chemist I LOVE this and I think all companies should do this on their labels to eradicate all of the fears about “ooky spooky chemicals” that Facebook moms and politicians like to cry about (and it would also make it harder to hide the ones that are actually harmful). “Don’t use it if you can’t pronounce it!” Take an organic chemistry class. Most of the time it has a purpose in order for the product to work, you’ll be okay I promise.

In 1952, these two men, James Watson and Francis Crick, claimed to have discovered the double helical structure of DNA. In 1962, they were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine.
Unbeknownst to most at the time, they stole their work from female chemist, Rosalind Franklin. These two men are disgusting misogynists. Science teachers of Tumblr, I beg you to stop posting photos of the men who actively suppressed a woman who made one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time.

🎃 🍬Halloween Tag: Dress up your Sim like another Simblr's character. Pass it on! 🎃 🍬
Thank you @simatomica for the tag!
I couldn'd decide so the whole Milkshake-gang is dressing up as @saruin's Peach, @void-imp's Jab, @alelelesimz Tinker and @puppycheesecake's Aeryn & Owen for Halloween! 🎃👻

You know what? I'm tired of being able to fit the entire periodic table onto a single sheet of paper. Let's put the lanthanides and actinides back where they belong. unless all of you science people are cowards, of course.

yes yes the agony of heartbreak, the anguish of unrequited love is all good and fine, but have you ever overshot a titration?

(for anyone confused, here is a useful pneumonic to remember your redox reactions: "OIL RIG" - oxidation is loss of electrons, reduction is gain of electrons)

Bromine makes me unreasonably nervous.
That being said there aren't many MSDS that say "inhalation will cause death"

Happy Ides of March!
I nailed my biomedicinal chemistry midterm, and one of the most high standards professor told me "very good presentation" which is so rare from her so I'm absolutely jazzed! These last few weeks have been so rough, so I'm feeling so relieved to be done.
Things are going smoothly for the most part, and I'm hoping to get a lot of data out in the next week, and finally make some more progress in my research. I did some single peak NOE NMR last week and hopefully this Thursday I can get some characterization 13C NMR on my samples.
This weekend is for quilting and reading, I deserve it.

Hear me out. I have only met two kinds of people majoring in chemistry:
1. Those who Hated general chemistry, then fell in love with the field when they got to organic.
2. Those who Loved general chemistry, then were utterly apalled when they got to organic because they now had to draw mechanisms.
People in group 1 become biochemists, organic chemists, or pre-med.
People in group 2 become inorganic chemists, physical chemists, or analytical chemists.

If it's alright I'll call them 'Milkshake' considering the circumstances of their founding 😋🍨 Thank you so much @saruin for that inspiring cas challenge!
You can tell I really enjoyed it!

Organic chem and me have a complicated relationship
on one hand it's literally organic chemistry 🤮
on the other hand it's the most queer chemistry i've done + bio stuff
