howdy! recently my mom has been hanging out with her boyfriend more often, so I’ve been cooking more for myself! during this time, I’ve learned how to make a pretty okay baked chicken! I thought I might as well write it down for myself and possibly for others!

what you need: 

  • some chicken (i used thighs but any work)
  • an oven 
  • a sheetpan
  • tinfoil
  • seasoned salt
  • regular salt
  • a cup
  • pepper
  • barbecue sauce
  • ketchup
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • a bowl
  • water
  • greek seasoning
  • a steak knife (or just a sharp knife that can cut raw chicken)


first off, thaw your chicken in a bowl of cold salt water. let it soak a nice bit until its thawed, then for an extra hour. I tend to do housework or take a walk during this

when its properly given its juice time, turn your oven on to 400 degrees and let it heat up. while heating up, put tin foil on your sheet pan (keeps the mess away), and begin making your concoction in a cup. I dont use measurements so much as texture and look, so bear with me haha

  • sprinkle a bit of pepper and normal salt, not a lot just a couple taps
  • a splash of olive oil
  • 2 splashes of lemon juice
  • 2 squirts of barbecue sauce
  • 1 squirt ketchup
  • a good few shakes of garlic powder, a good amount
  • a couple sprinkles of paprika for spice
  • a few good shakes of greek seasoning
  • and 1 good shake of seasoning salt

mix it up real nice until its a gritty paste. rub it nice on your raw chicken, make it nice and thick!

place the chicken evenly, and after you dump any extra paste on the chicken evenly, put it in the oven for about 30 minutes. cook until its 165 degrees Fahrenheit in your chicken. cut chicken in half just in case to check

let cool a tiny bit, dont burn your tongue, and enjoy! the paste should have caramelized nicely and became mildly crunchy

i know this isnt really a good recipe, but i like it a lot and i think it makes a juicy chicken! have fun! i think it goes great with rice or salad
