One of my bosses likes to randomly throw out religious folklore..
Today I was buying a dragon stuffie for my niece and he decided to go into the Bible lore of dragons
I responded with the lore that the elves and fae were the first children of Eve who she had not washed and tried to hide them from God and he turned them invisible and they and their generations after took to the trees and hills cursed to be “ The Hidden Ones”.
He was shooketh. He changed the subject to beetles that shoot chemicals like fire.
I love lore.

Hot take, apparently, but genuinely harassing or insulting anyone's religion is not ok.
Criticizing religious institutions, proselytizing, extremism, or horrible behaviors/beliefs done in the name of a religion? YES! Totally. That should be criticized.
Unpromptedly popping up on random posts by religious folks to say anything along the lines of "god isn't real", "the pagan gods are fake", "there is only one true religion", "[any religious group] are stupid/dangerous/barbaric" -- NO.
It's rude. It's unnecessary. And sometimes, especially in the case of minorities or oppressed groups, it's outright hateful. Theres nothing helpful, funny, or cool about randomly insulting one of the most personal aspects of a persons life. Unless it's invited or warranted, stfu.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.

Solidarity between all religions, especially between those threatened by colonialism! Pagans, polytheists, and witches of all creeds unite for Palestine!
Share:
Prayers
Offerings
Protest posters
Spells
News
Donations
And other symbols of solidarity colored by your faith!
Never before in history had we the tools for everyone, all over the world, to resist genocide simultaneously and with such fierceness. Everything you do to keep eyes on Gaza counts. Every prayer, every action, it all amounts to something grander.
Keep talking about Israel’s genocidal, colonialist ‘war’ against Palestine. Keep praying. The divine are with us.

So our cat got out recently, and as we were out physically looking for her and doing all the necessary mundane steps, I made this to try and attract her home and keep her safe while she was out. I prayed to St. Anthony (patron of lost things) and St. Francis (patron of animals). I also made appeals to Cernunnos to protect her.
She came home within two days, and we managed to get her back inside, no worse for wear (our poor dog was, though - he tried to chase her and got a scratched ear for it).

I'm tired of giving long-winded explanations for both of these so I made a meme about both it
Tumblr media
[image ID: the shaking hands meme. The hand on the left says "christian witches" and the hand on the right says "christian queer people". Where they meet in the middle it says "the Bible is the word of God but it was written down and translated by flawed and biased humans so it's our right and responsibility to spend time with God and discern what we believe His will to be".]

just a psa - i’m not going to follow you back if you actively shit on christianity, or any other organized religion for that matter. i feel like this shouldn’t have to be said but if you go out of your way to call all christians “brainwashed” and “evil” you have no place on my account.
while i am not christian in any way, shape, or form, the disrespect of organized religion is tiring to see from people who claim to “love and respect all” as witches. sure you can criticize the institution itself, but to criticize the millions of people who find solace in something greater than themselves, telling them that they are wrong for believing what they believe, makes you no better than anyone who looks at you sideways for your beliefs and practices.
christian witches are a thing. jewish witches are a thing. muslim witches are a thing. disrespecting a part of their identity for the sake of “oh i’m a witch so i can do what i want” is childish and wrong. have some respect for others if you expect any sort of respect from anyone else.

If you wanna be a pagan or witch or whatever I can’t stop you from messing with demons but don’t call yourself a “Christian witch” or whatever. Don’t wrap up your heresy and sacrilege in Christ. Christ wants to free you from the occult and paganism. He died to save you, not so you can mock that sacrifice by claiming to be a witch that follows him. I know you want control and surety in your life, because life is messy and confusing but you won’t find peace in the occult. I promise. You’re beloved by God.

If you're a self proclaimed "Christian" who won't call out racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, classism, ableism, xenophobia and any other form of bigotry and discrimination, you're not a very good Christian. If you endorse any of those forms of discrimination, I'd say you're not a Christian at all. Be a kind person and call out bigotry when you see it. It is unacceptable in truly Christian spaces.
