It was hard to get back into the dating scene. Especially for Christopher Robin. He was recently divorced with a kid he only really saw on the weekends. He let his ex-wife and his daughter have the home, finding a flat a couple of miles away. It was nice, in a good part of the city, but he was lonely. Something he hadn't felt in years. It was hard. Waking up alone, eating breakfast alone, doing anything alone. It was insanely quiet, the only thing breaking the silence was the radio he'd turn on just to hear something. He wanted to find love again. He wanted that second chance. So, Christopher went out on dates. But none of them worked out. He went on a date with a lady named Mary, but she was no match. The librarian from the nearby library, Ruth, but she wasn't a match either. For a year, he tried and tried to find that love connection... But it seemed fruitless. Everyone he went out with... He felt no… Spark.
Until, he was coming back from work, the rain pouring down on his umbrella when he heard barking. Looking up from the sidewalk, Christopher had no time to get out of the way as a large dog came barreling towards him. The dog, a mix of multiple breeds, definitely a Husky of some sort, but with an odd slightly scrunched face. The dog barked again, happily jumping up onto him, wet dirty paws landing on his pants. Slightly startled, Christopher couldn't help but pet the wet fluffy dog, as he stared down at the dog in awe.
"Goofy!" He heard someone yell, looking up at you and ran up to him and the dog, breathing heavily as you came to a stop. "Why do you keep running away?" Goofy plopped back to the ground, whining softly as you looked up at Christopher. "Oh! I am so sorry!" You gasped, placing a hand on your flushed cheeks in embarrassment. "He got you all dirty."
Christopher smiled, taking in the sight of you for a moment. You were just wearing some pants and a bright yellow sweater, hair matched down slightly from the rain as it poured down on you. "No worries. Your dog made my day." He reassured you, as you frowned cutely, shaking your head.
"No, I have to be sorry, Goofy ruined your pants." You continued to apologize as Christopher shook his own head.
"No, please don't apologize... It's nothing a good scrubbing can fix." He assured you, causing you to flush even more, though you smiled at him.
"If you're sure."
Christopher nodded, before gesturing to the dog, who began to slam his front paws in a small puddle a few feet away. "If I may ask, what breed is he?" He asked as you glanced back at your dog.
"Oh, he's a Siberian Husky and Chow Chow mix. He has the playfulness of a husky, and depending on the day he's a little prince." You chuckled, as Christopher smiled.
"Well, you’re beautiful." He complimented before his eyes widened, “I mean, he’s beautiful.” He corrected, making your cheeks flush more as he moved his umbrella over your head suddenly. "I'm sorry, you're getting soaked here."
You shook your head, "No, it's fine. It's my fault for running out of my home without a raincoat."
"Do you want me to walk you home? So you don't have to walk back in the rain?" He offered gently, trying not to seem creepy. But his concern for your well-being made him want to do anything to make you feel better. "I've got a lot of free time and..." He trailed off, realizing what he said.
You paused, blinking slowly. A smile spreads across your lips. "Really?" You asked excitedly. "Would you mind? I mean I don't want to impose-" You began as Christopher interrupted you.
"Not at all. My flat isn't too far away anyway."
You hummed, eyes looking at the man before you, he seemed nice, handsome definitely, but you were a bit wary. "Alright, if you say so. Thank you."
Walking under the umbrella with you, Goofy walked in front of you, prancing like a pony with his tongue sticking out happily. It was comfortably quiet as the rain pitter-pattered down upon the umbrella over you and Christopher.
"So," You began, "What's your name?"
"Christopher Robin." He answered automatically.
"What a fascinating name." You commented, "It's nice to meet you, Christopher Robin, I'm Y/N."
"Nice to meet you, Y/N." He replied, feeling oddly at ease with this conversation. You both continued to walk before Christopher spoke up, "So, your dog's name is Goofy?"
You nodded rapidly, "Yeah, cute right? I named him after Goofy from Aquamania. Have you ever seen it?" You asked, sounding very interested in his answer.
"Yes," He responded with a smile, watching you as your eyes lit up. “Nice movie.”
"I love that movie!" Your grin grew bigger as you continued talking about Goofy. "I saw it in the cinema and I instantly had to get myself a dog. So I went straight to the shelter afterward and bought Goofy." You explained excitedly as he continued to listen. "And now we're best friends."
"He is rather adorable." He agreed, glancing at the dog that was wagging his tail excitedly.
"Yeah," You glanced up at him briefly before stopping at the gate of your home. "Uh, thank you for walking me, Christopher. You really didn't have to." You apologized politely as Goofy barked happily, tail wagging harder than ever. "Uh, would you like to come in for tea?"
Christopher couldn't help but smile, as he nodded, "I would love to."
And that was the beginning of a friendship, and relationship, that could change both of your lives forever. That rainy day with you and Goofy was over six months ago, and Christopher was able to ask you out on your first date after the first month of meeting each other at cafes for tea. And Christopher was beyond happy, and proud to call you his girlfriend. He hadn't felt this way in such a long time. He felt like a kid again when he went ice skating with you or went to the movies to see the new Mary Poppins.
He remembered every single moment he spent with you, how happy and comfortable he was around you. Christopher was head over heels for you. You and your love of yellow and sunflowers. You and your love for Disney and anime. You for your nervous twitches and little obsessions. You. He was completely in love with you. And he knew he'd never be able to let you go. He loved listening to music with you and dancing with you most of the time. He loved your tattoos and watching true crime on the telly with you; cuddled up on the sofa.
And as for you, you felt like your life was finally falling into place. You had fallen for Christopher the moment he asked you out on a date, sunflowers in his hand. You'd found yourself unable to take your eyes off of him as he walked you home. He had been such a gentleman. Kissing you at the door before wishing you a safe evening. He made you laugh, made you feel special, and happy. And he treated you like a queen, giving you a flower crown and kissing your hand. You couldn't believe how lucky you were to meet such a man like Christopher Robin. To find such a wonderful guy, willing to spend his time making you breakfast, and to hold your hand as you walked home together. The two of you were meant to be, and you couldn't be happier.
