The point of departure was a scented wax, found in a souk and long forgotten in a wooden box. The amber only became sultanesque after I reworked the composition using cistus, an herb that sticks to the fingers like tar, then added an overtone that nobody had ever dreamed of: vanilla. Slowly like a purple clematis, with a newfound mind I’ll bloom

Rising out to the stars, with clarity, from all this inner gloom

Ah, with the dedication of an green carnations, shall I meet my goal?

Could fortune and virtue bathe my soul?

And at last with elegance, sensibility, respectability, like a Mimosa, letting joy and life radiate from me like the sun

So, like sunshine, I’ll live and no longer run

Cistus (from the Greek kistos) is a genus of flowering plants in the rockrose family Cistaceae, containing about 20 species. In the photos we see the white Cistus Salvifolius L. and the purple Cistus Creticus L.(by Plantnet). They are perennial shrubs found on dry or rocky soils(hence the name rockrose) throughout the Mediterranean region(where they are also native to). They have showy 5-petaled flowers ranging from white to purple and dark pink, in a few species with a conspicuous dark red spot at the base of each petal. Ο Κιστός ή λαδανιά είναι ένα γένος ανθοφόρων φυτών στην οικογένεια Κισθοειδών, που περιέχει περίπου 20 είδη. Στις φωτογραφίες βλέπουμε τον λευκό Cistus Salvifolius L. και τον μωβ Cistus Creticus L.(σύμφωνα με το Plantnet).
