I know Skyrim would have just exploded if they did this, but I’m visually playing with this concept, but if they made Alduin Bigger, like substantially, blanketing the sky in some areas like an oppressive heavy cloud moving in he would have been so much more intimidating and they would have likely had to do something other than “Dragon number 34838947394 but in special nord heaven this time”

Seeing a few too many "this should be a required class in school" posts.

There are other, better, places to learn some things.

#I have never taken a cooking class #and I think I'm a pretty decent cook #I've read some books about food science and played around with things #my husband has never taken a class on car maintenance or repair #he just watches a lot of car youtube and is willing to try things out #I learned about weather patterns from observation and talking to people who know more than me #admittedly they did tell me about types of clouds in elementary school #but they certainly didn't explain the snowpack or drainage or how mountains affect wind and clouds #I learned to knit by asking older ladies questions and the occasional supplemental book or youtube vid #at some point you gotta learn how to learn things #without someone else organizing the curriculum and holding you accountable

#Prawly shouldn't have gotten in today #I'm sick #But gosh it was pretty glorious when Tim and I went to look #so I did #No board because I haven't in a month because I think I re tore an mcl #have just been swimming #occasionally in waves when the energy is just too tempting #Point being this-- #I've never had to clear my ears when duck diving under waves before #Yes always when freediving #You don't have to go very deep before you need to #But never even once when out swimming in waves #Had to repeatedly today #So I thought about it #Immediately upon diving down to go under #your head is around 5 feet depth #feet still at surface #Bigger waves break in deeper water #and you want your feet and legs in clean water below the turbulence #so you swim down some more #dunno what depth that puts you at #But then the wave passes over you #And today the sets were into the double overhead range #So that's like twelve or more feet of water depth passing over you #on top of whatever distance you already dove #So yeah #Makes sense that I was clearing my ears under there. #:) #Also #the clouds over the mountains were exquisite

Risk Takers and Visionaries Often Find Themselves Outside and Surrounded by Mountains! (Denali National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view across the tundra landscape in this part of Denali National Park, looking to the southwest and foothill mountains and peaks of the Alaska Range, with the hidden in clouds, snowcapped peaks of Denali rising above. While I could have worked some angles in composing this image, I decided to keep more of an even, leveled on view and have some "negative space" above the portion of Denali hidden in clouds. My feeling is that the centered up view had more of a balance. I could also clear up some of the clouds working with the ClearView Plus tool in DxO PhotoLab 3, The rest was I did some making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation for the image captured.

#oof. it as been a very very long day. so much talking. all day talking and interviews #and so far my feelings are mixed. bc it is a smaller university and its underfunded and cost of living is kinda high #and the town is small and isolated. HOWEVER #the faculty feels like a strong community and theyre all amazing scientists who choose to b there bc the quality of life is so high #they seem extremely supportive and the fact its small means that i could probably get around better given my intense anxiety around driving #and i could literally just walk to hiking paths rather than having to drive way out. and its fucking so beautiful. the clouds r gorgeous #bc theyre all conpressed by the mountains around this lil valley. also the potential advisor seems amazing. the grad students have good #things to say and hes excited that im interested in the things im interested in. and i talked to an astrobiology guy and he was like u #should apply for X grant and i would b happy to help u and the advisor is a former nasa post doc so he has nasa astrobiology connections. #so those r some pretty great things. i mean. of the schools im looking at this one would prob be the best for my brain tbh #i mean the uk one is too rigid in structure and i cant fuck around so much as at a us school. and the east coast on is hard to say no to bc #its a good school with lots of funding and opportunities to b creative but i would have to hard core get my shit together and hes quite #hands off. and id b living in the city which sucks. so like. i mean this school is kinda looking like the best choice for me. definitely #the healthiest. i mean assuming i dont fuck it up and get the offer after this weekend. but yeah. i mean im not fully in love i think #and the idea of commiting to 5years here is terrifying but id get a lot of support that i dont think ive really ever had. not that my #current boss isnt great but our lab is kinda disconnected. and i really fit in perspective wise in my interests. and id get to work at #[redacted] national park. which is so cool that i might have to unredact it if i end up here bc its so fucking next level #not that the national park i have access to now isnt awesome but. like its next level awesome and i could maybe wiggle may way into maybe #some arctic systems and i bet i could get my current boss to send me desert samples. so yeah i could def see a life here #but fuck i dont want roomates with all my heart. y does it have to b so expensive for a trash apartment? bleh #god. im so tried. so much talking. but a good day. and im going skiing tomorrow bc like thats a thing here lol #unrelated

realistically eyrie would only be a leatherworker and an alchemist, but the sirensong of having all the crafters is Very Tempting

#i say that as I have almost all of them save for armorer #and I’m a crafting mentor Sndjdjdjd #eyrie is an alchemist in the more medicinal sense—same with them being a botanist #it’s all basic medical knowledge #as much as there is a strong tradition of something akin to white magic on their mother’s side of the family #they were given a full education on practical ways of caring for injuries of the flesh #it was practical! one cannot rely only on healing spells to save oneself #I’ve been thinking a lot about eyrie’s home lately #living life skirting the tree lines of the skatay range. the winters and the summers there #the vicious winter windstorms up on the mountains where the tents would howl for hours #or the one time in their youth they were awoken by a terrible rumbling sound and watched in horror as an avalanche rushed down #the distant hill—crushing everything in its path by moonlight #even in their adulthood their patrols through the edges of the trees and further up #across glaciers and standing at mountain peaks with the clouds like an ocean all around #I think eyrie’s tribe kept sheep—Hardy mountain ones #oc: eyrie kisne #hot springs! eyrie on the edge of a hot spring in the middle of winter tending to their wounds from a recent fight #messy long hair and permenant sour face #it says something about them that they spent the better part of their life #in some of the quietest places on the star #wide scrub tundra with naught but the sound of one’s own breath and the wind #the stillness at sunrise and sunset #with the snow bright orange in the light #Minfilia talked about the dawn’s light and eyrie always pictured those mornings #and they thought about all these different places and the metaphor of it #and it didn’t stick until they thought about those #brilliant orange mornings at the top of the world #that made it make sense
