Vaccines are good

Dad!Colin Zabel x Mom!fem!reader
Summary: You and your husband Colin make up a happy family, Colin turned out to be a great father and you both love your little son. But can the detective get out of trouble when they take his son to be vaccinated?
Warnings: fluffy things and mention of needles and childhood illnesses of course
Word count: 2.8k ***************
Colin was preparing lunch while Alex was sitting at the table drawing with his crayons. The handsome detective smashed two eggs into the pan, adding salt, pepper and coriander and then began to beat them with the fork. He would take care of preparing something else for Alex, over time he had learned that the little one didn't like omelettes. He arranged the food on the plates and served them on the table waiting for you to get home from work.
"Hey champion, what are you drawing?" Colin asked, bringing his face closer to the sheet of paper.
The boy happily held the paper up with pride. "It's you with your police car!"
Colin smiled when he saw himself in that drawing. The colors spilled out of the lines but the detective could clearly be seen standing next to his car, which had the dome lights on, shining red and blue. Alex was very proud of his father and always said that when he grows up he wants to be like him, he even often wore his father's clothes and played cops and robbers with his schoolmate. Colin always laughs but obviously he worries that his son will be involved in a dangerous and stressful job like that.
"It's amazing kid! you even drew the details of my uniform, you are talented!"
Alex's cheeks turned tulip-pink with pure joy as he smiled widely. The boy was a carbon copy of his father, same eyes, same hair and every time he smiled you saw Colin. Suddenly there was a sound of keys opening the door and a sweet voice announced their arrival.
"It's mom!!" Alex got out of his chair running towards the door while you opened it laughing at his enthusiasm. Colin also came to meet you.
"Hey! How was my teddy bear today?"
You scooped Alex into your arms as you planted a loud, slobbery kiss on his cheek. The little boy laughed and then with a grimace of disgust he wiped his cheek without stopping laughing, his face was so funny that it infected you with laughter. You weren't afraid to show how much you loved your son even if you were a little clingy at times.
"Hi sweetie, welcome home." Colin hugged you around the waist and kissed you tenderly on the lips.
"Ew..". The boy said, making a disgusted face and looking away.
Colin laughed tenderly. "Why don't you show mommy what you did today, huh?"
The boy nodded with great enthusiasm and jumping happily.
"Let's see Alex, show me"
Your son grabbed your hand and quickly led you to the table where his little drawing rested. With both hands he raised it to the level of his face.
"Ta-daa!! Guess who it is!!"
You gasped in surprise as you grabbed the drawing from the boy's small hands. You looked at it carefully while smiling sweetly. The proportions of the things he had drawn were not perfect but they seemed adorable to you.
"Oh my god Alex, it's beautiful! And It's daddy! and with his police car of course"
"Yeah!! you guessed it!". Alex smiled at you with that gap between his frontal paddles that seemed so tender and pretty to you.
"Let's hang your drawing on the refrigerator door, what do you think, honey?"
Your son shouted yes and you gave Colin a smiling look.
"I think it's a great idea babe"
While you placed the drawing under two magnets Colin asked his son what he wanted for lunch.
"Ok little champ, what do you want for lunch? You don't want an omelet, right?"
Alex shook his head vigorously while sticking out his tongue in a grimace of disgust.
Colin smiled in amusement. "Alright, alright. How about pasta?"
"Yay I love pasta!!"
The detective laughed amused, it was no secret that your son loved Italian food. you turned around looking at them happily.
"Ok, then pasta will be"
Your husband had gotten up from his seat to put the noodles in a pot when Alex sneezed loudly. Colin stopped halfway looking at you while you approached Alex with concern.
"What was that, hun?" You gently took his chin in your hand, inspecting him.
"I don't know, mommy". Alex sniffed the snot with his nose as he wiped it on a sleeve.
"I already told you not to wipe your snot on your sleeve, you'll make it dirty."
"Sorry mom.."
You looked for a disposable tissue in your purse that Colin handed you and leaned close to your son's face.
"Come here"
You carefully wiped his nose while inspecting his nasal passages for any possible infection or irritation but found nothing alarming.
"Well It seems like you don't have any infection, maybe it's a simple allergy. "My love, was he like this all day?" You turned to look at your husband who returned a worrying look.
"Actually no, he was perfect. Just now he started sneezing"
You put your arms on your hips as you looked at your son thoughtfully who looked back at you a little scared.
"But he had already had a cold last week, right?"
Colin nodded. You still remembered what it had been like last week. Alex had had a fever and cough and had stayed in bed resting as the doctor had said. The poor thing couldn't leave the house to play with his friends and spent time eating soups that he considered very bland.
Worried, you walked quickly to your bedroom to look for Alex's vaccination record. You checked that everything was in order, Alex had all the vaccines from when he was a few months old baby. But he was missing the measles vaccine, which he had to get at age 5. Alarmed, you returned to the kitchen with the booklet in your hand. Alex had a terrified face when he saw it, he already knew that the storm was about to break loose.
"Colin, Alex doesn't have the measles vaccine and he's already 6, he must get it as soon as possible".
When the little boy heard the word vaccine, he jumped in his chair.
"Sure, it makes sense. The symptoms are fever, cough and runny nose, that's what he suffered last week"
"Come on, bring the car keys, we have to take him to the nearest hospital".
The detective grabbed the keys that were hanging on a cute keychain on the wall hand painted by Alex and you grabbed your purse and put on a jacket. When you called your son, he got out of the chair scared, getting as far away from the two of you as possible.
"NO!". He yelled
The two of you were about to open the door when the child's scream made you turn around to see him. When the little naughty boy made sure he had both of your attention, he returned to the charge, shouting.
"I DON'T WANNA GO TO THE DOCTOR AND I DON'T WANT VACCINES!!!"
Alex crossed his arms angrily as he furrowed his eyebrows so tightly that his forehead became wrinkled.
"Alexis Zabel!"
You put your hands on your hips, also furrowing your eyebrows, looking at him defiantly, you could play that game too. Everyone in the family knew that when you called your son by his full name it was because you had exhausted your patience and he was in serious trouble.
Colin took a step forward, trying to calm the atmosphere and cut the tension that would be felt in the air.
"Come on Alex, don't make mom angry, don't make it harder".
The detective approached with his arms open to grab his son but the boy was faster and ran screaming towards his room as if he had a rocket up his ass.
"NOOOOO!"
You ran in his direction, annoyed. "Alexis come here immediately!"
Colin grabbed your arm. "Wait, let me talk to him."
You huffed in agreement while your husband smiled at you, caressing your wrist. Colin headed to his son's room. His dark wooden door was decorated with posters of dinosaurs and robots. He knocked on the door twice.
"Alex? It's me, daddy. Can I come in?"
The man heard Alex's muffled voice from being behind the thick door giving him a negative answer, from his tone of voice he seemed still angry.
"Please son I just want to talk I promise"
Zabel waited anxiously by the door when a slight movement of the handle made him sigh in relief. Alex's chubby face barely peeked out of the space he had left open.
"Fine, come in"
Colin walked in smiling. Alex's room was quite big. The walls were decorated with drawings and posters of his favorite cartoons. There were also shelves with dolls and stuffed animals piled up, many of them were dinosaurs, he loved them. His toy trunk also had fire engines, tanks and racing cars that the boy had even taken charge of naming. The bed where the boy was sitting was shaped like a car and his blankets had drawings of prehistoric animals and plants. Colin sat next to his son who remained very serious.
"Listen Al, I know you don't want to get vaccinated but it's for your own good.". Colin used to use that pet name with his son.
"Adults always say that". Alex crossed his arms and turned his face away so as not to see his father.
"But it's because it's the truth. You know?, when I was your age I didn't want to get vaccinated either."
Alex's little face lit up in surprise as she turned to look at him. "Really?"
"Yes, really. Look, if you promise to behave like the brave boy I know you are, on the way out, I promise to buy you the biggest ice cream you want".
"You promise?". Said the boy smiling
Colin extended his pinky in promise. "Pinky promise, kid"
Alex intertwined his pinky with his father's, laughing happily as they both left the room, but not before grabbing a toy car for Alex to entertain himself and calm down. You continued waiting at the door impatiently moving one foot up and down until you saw them leave the room.
"We can go now". Your husband said smiling.
***************
The ride to the hospital was quite quiet, from time to time you would take quick glances at Alex who was calmly playing with his toy in the back seat. Colin sensed your nervousness and grabbed your hand firmly, smiling at you while he held the steering wheel with the other.
"Don't worry, he'll be fine." He whispered to you
You nodded, smiling. Everything seemed calm and correct, but when he arrived at the establishment and got out of the car, Alex saw the facade of the hospital and the fear returned to him, so he started screaming and kicking to get back to the car. You grabbed your son's hand, pulling him with Colin's help to get him into the hospital but Alex couldn't stop crying. The detective crouched down next to his son.
"Remember what we talked about, if you continue like this there will be no ice cream"
Colin's slightly threatening tone brooked no reply. Alex was going to say something but upon looking into his father's intimidating eyes he decided to remain silent. So, with a dejected air and the face of a lamb about to go to the slaughterhouse, they headed inside the building. Of course the boy carried the toy car under his arm. In the waiting room there were many children more or less his age, some teenagers and babies a few months old. With a sad and scared face, Alex sat between his parents to await his fatal fate. The other children also seemed somewhat dejected.
You knew how tortuous it is for a child to be vaccinated, you still remember when you went nervously to the waiting room to get an injection when you were a child. And honestly the screams and cries that came from the door where the vaccines were given was not exactly relaxing. That's why you took your son's delicate hand in yours, squeezing it gently to give him warmth, courage and protection.
"Sweetheart, you can do it, I trust you. And when we get into the room I will be with you the entire time and I will hold your hand so it doesn't hurt."
Your son wiped a small tear that was almost dry from his rosy cheek and looked at you with a shy smile.
"Alright, if you say so..."
The hours passed and the waiting room was emptying. There were only two people left ahead of you. Many of the children came out smiling with tears in their eyes, others didn't say anything and looked at the ground as they walked. Then a plump older woman called them by Alex's full name. The little boy did not want to go but he remembered his father's promise and bravely squeezed your hand and headed to the room while your husband sat waiting outside.
The injection room was beige and the walls were decorated with paintings of animals to calm the children, you weren't sure if it really worked. There was also a medium-sized window with baby blue curtains that overlooked a garden full of flowering bushes. You directed your distracted gaze there when the woman brought you out of your thoughts.
"Okay, so this is little Alex Zabel."
The lady was wearing a dark blue nurse's uniform and was smiling affably. You looked at your son who could only look down holding on to his toy car.
"Oh it's ok honey, it'll just be a little prick". The woman said
Alex's eyes were starting to water again so you tenderly wrapped your arms around his shoulders in a protective gesture. "Sweetie everything will be fine, you'll see"
The nurse told Alex to sit in a chair and roll up the sleeve of his shirt so she could give him the injection. She also asked him which arm he wanted the injection in and the boy pointed to his left arm. The good-natured woman began to prepare the needle, taking one out of a sterilized envelope that was in a plastic box full of them. When you saw them, a slight chill ran down your spine. You still remembered your first vaccine as if it were yesterday and you understood everyone more than ever. those children who came out crying.
Alex also saw the needles and buried his face in your chest, scared. You grabbed her hand and whispered the words you had said before "Remember, mommy is here and I won't let go of your hand."
The little boy nodded and sat up straight in his chair, squeezing your hand tightly as he showed his left arm to the nurse. She tapped the needle with her gloved hands to make the liquid go down.
"Alright, little Alex, take a deep breath."
Alex closed his eyes tightly until his nose wrinkled and he squeezed your hand even harder as it started to hurt, never underestimate the strength of a scared 6 year old child. It was barely a second until the nurse announced that she was finished.
"Done! You see it wasn't that big of a deal?".She laughed sweetly
Your son opened his brown eyes wide and looked at his arm in surprise, looking for any cut or wound, both women laughed and the nurse carefully squeezed his arm with cotton.
"Hold this cotton in your arm for a few minutes, then you could throw it away. Aaand." The woman took out a red popsicle from a jar and handed it to the child who was looking with bright, greedy eyes. "This is for you, for being such a brave child."
"That's very kind, thank you" You said to the nurse and looked at your son "You thank her too, Alex."
The little one had already put the lollipop in his mouth without thinking twice and didn't even take it out to respond "Thzank yough"
Mother and son left the small room hand in hand, happy and laughing. Colin was already standing waiting for them with a relieved smile on his face.
"So? How did my little champion do?"
"Oh he was incredible, he didn't cry even once"
"And look daddy!!, the nurse gave me a lollipop for being good!"
"Oh look at that!"
Colin lifted the boy into his arms giving him a kiss on the cheek while you held his toy.
"It seems that today you are going to stuff yourself with so many sweet things"
"What does that mean?". You asked funny and curious
"It means daddy will buy me ice cream!!!"
Colin looked down, smiling a little embarrassed for not telling his wife about the deal.
"Oh yeah? Well I guess daddy can buy ice cream for everyone too." You said laughing and giving your husband a kiss on the cheek.
Colin laughed and agreed to pay for the other ice creams. They returned to the car happy, heading to the nearest ice cream parlor, eager to try that sweet and frozen dessert.

I have read many stories where Colin is the father of a girl, so I wanted to write a story where he had a son.
By the way, I wrote this after reading the @sweeter-innocence-fics fic. Thanks for being an inspiration for this, you can read her Colin fic here

a party guy
Colin Zabel x Fem!Reader ♥️

summary: Colin tells you he’s not a party guy. you prove it wrong ;)
warnings: KISSES…and fluff. also ‼️NOT PROOFED‼️

(pics from pinterest)
Typical pop music played on the background, as you wandered through the hall, frowning slightly. Your ears ached already because of the loud sounds, and you really wanted to find a quiet place, but most of all, you wanted to finally find Colin.
It was the corporate Christmas party. Something, that everyone hated, but still took a part of it every year. Every year you promised yourself, that it’s the last time you go on this shit, but you still kept doing it. Maybe, sometimes you just needed some light head in your life, you know? Especially while working at the police station.
But right now your head wasn’t light. It ached.
All your colleagues were already far behind you, when you finally approached a dark door, which was closed. You placed your fingers around the door handle and pulled it down, opening the door and walking inside with a sigh of relief as you heard that music finally became quieter.
To your surprise, you were met by a pair of familiar dark eyes.
Finally. You found him.
“Why aren’t you with everyone, having fun?” Colin asked you, quickly looking away, but you have already noticed how his eyes lit up when he saw you.
You didn’t even know what a room it was. There was just a table in the corner, some plastic chairs, a window with jalousie… everything is grey, and nothing special. Colin was sitting on one of these chairs, scrolling through his phone, when you walked over and took a seat next to him, sighing tiredly.
“I can ask you the same.” You scoffed, looking at the detective in front of you. The music was still heard, but - fortunately - not so loud.
“I’m not a party guy.” Colin chuckled, showing you his adorable dimples, which you secretly adored all this time you was working at the station. He placed his phone on the table, not turning it off.
“Why did you go here then?” You asked, glancing at his phone. You saw a small text and immediately recognised the document about the case which you both still couldn’t solve.
“Just to see you.” He thought to himself, but instead of saying it aloud, just rubbed his eyes tiredly. You decided not to push harder, seeing how exhausted he was.
“You need to relax.” You said, your heart ached for your co-worker.
“I know.” Colin mumbled, sighing and looking at you. His eyes lingered at your face, your beautiful frame… God, you were making him about to faint. “Those murders are driving me insane.”
You got up from your chair suddenly, grabbing his hand and pulling him up from his seat. His eyes widened as you touched him.
What should he do? Should he squeeze your hand? Should h-
“Now, Colin”, you said with a smile, letting go of his hand (his eyes followed this motion sadly) and then turning the lights off. “Here’s our own little party.”
You two were standing in front of each other in the dim, small room, with just some quiet music on the background, listening to the laughter of the crowd in the hall. Colin gulped nervously.
He always got nervous when you two stayed alone at the police station, while working on your case, how was he supposed to feel RIGHT NOW, when you two were alone in a closed room and no one could disturb you???
“What?” He just breathed out with a small smile, not able to look away from your eyes. Honestly, everything was wrong! He had his own plan. Well, not plan. He had his own fantasy about this evening. How he would walk over to you, send you a charming smile and murmur something like “wanna dance” or just grab y-
“Come on, detective! Show me your dance skills.” You pleaded, wrapping your hands around his arm and shaking it slightly, giggling. Oh you always wanted to create a move where you could touch him. “Just let yourself relax.”
“Are you trying to get me to fall for you?”
As if he wasn’t already.
The words slipped down from his tongue before he could even think twice about it. Your eyes widened in misunderstanding.
“What? N-“
“I’m so sorry! I was juST JOKIN-“ He immediately lifted his hands as he saw your confused face, trying to excuse, but you bursted out laughing, making him close his mouth in confusion but relief too.
“Just move your ass already.”
“I’m a terrible dancer.”
“Me too.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t-“
“Colin?”
You glanced at him with your magical eyes. These eyes mesmerized Colin every time he looked in them, and this moment wasn’t an exception. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his pounding heart down and not to show you what a rush of love    emotions he was feeling right now.
“Don’t laugh at me.” He breathed out.
“At this party we don’t judge anyone.” You smiled, already starting to slightly rock your body, and Colin followed your example, his eyes never left you. God, how stupid he was looking right now, he didn’t care while he was with you though. If he had to dance all night like a true idiot but it meant that he would be with you, he would gladly do it.
“See? Not that bad!” You encouraged him, giggling. “Maybe you’re a party guy.”
“Well, I definitely like this party better than the rest.” Colin chuckled, continuing his movements, the embarrassment was almost gone. “The song is nice.”
“Of course it is! It’s ABBA.” You got even closer to him, and poor man almost fell down, when your arms bumped into each other suddenly. Honestly, you didn’t think that he looked stupid: he finally looked free and relaxed, and you were glad to see him like that.
“Don’t you know the lyrics?” You asked, while the music was heading to end.
“Obviously I don’t.” He answered, ready for the next song.
Well, he thought he was ready.
He wasn’t.
He wasn’t, because it was a song for the slow dance, and you both literally froze because of the sudden change of the mood at the party behind the door. Colin’s cheeks flushed red, and he was thankful to the dimness of the room, which was hiding his blush.
“Do you want you…”
“Yes.” He cut you off, immediately stepping closer. Without any hesitation he grabbed your hand, and you found yourself getting red.
You wanted to ask him if he was up to grab some drinks.
But if he wanted to dance with you like this… how could you say no to a handsome, kind and single detective? To the best man you’ve ever met?
You just bit your lower lip and nodded, placing your free hand on his shoulder, and Colin had to take a deep, deep breath not to show you all his nervousness. He literally prayed not to mess everything up right now, at this moment, which he was waiting for. The second he put his other hand on your waist, he was about to pass out. His heart was pounding so hard, he could swear you could feel it because of the closeness you two were sharing.
He gulped, when you started to sway slowly, and goddamn, he wanted to literally disappear when he felt his palm getting sweaty. You couldn’t look him in the eyes - he, on the contrary, was staring at your face in awe.
“You look beautiful.” He suddenly blurted after a few moments of the awkward silence, making you giggle. The butterflies in his stomach were crazy.
“You’re quickly getting into the mood.” You joked, trying to light the mood and make things less weird.
“Am I?” He chuckled, his adorable dimples were seemed again.
“I think so.”
He was much taller than you, so when you finally decided to look up in his eyes, you felt uncomfortable tenseness in your neck. Still, you didn’t pay much attention to it as long as you could see his dark, almost black and your absolutely favorite eyes. You both kept silence, listening to the slow music and absolutely enjoying being so close to each other, smiling slightly like teenagers in love. What was it about him what made your heart ache?
“You’re a good dancer.” You said almost in a whisper, completely mesmerizing by him.
“It’s all thanks to you.” He answered with a giggle, not able to take his eyes off you. “I wanna say something dumb.”
“You’ll ruin the mood!” You chuckled back.
“Oh come on!” Colin laughed. “I danced for you, and now you can’t allow me just sa-“
“Go ahead already.” You rolled your eyes playfully.
“I wanna kiss you.”
Boom.
You both froze. You - with wide, shocked eyes, and he - with a goofy smile on his face. The next second you switched positions: your face literally beamed, while Colin looked at you with embarrassment.
“Goddamn I’m so sorry I didn’t know what I-“
“Please do.”
Boom. 2x.
What did you just say? With a second to completely process your words, Colin let out a shaky breath in disbelief. He blinked for a few times, looking in your eyes and definitely seeing in them an approval to make a move. So, the next moment, he smashed his lips against yours without any hesitation, already closing his eyes. He felt like he was floating. Your soft lips with your sweet lipgloss, your hand on his shoulder, your other hand on his hand, your body close to his body, your skin is the softest, the kiss, that you both shared - the sweetest. After a moment it became hungrier, he pulled you impossibly closer to himself, savouring the taste of your lips on his. Your head were spinning - was everything even real? But goddamn it was.
Closing your eyes, you let your fingers slip into his short, dark hair, scratching his scalp slightly and making him exhale through the nose. The slow, gentle movements of his lips were driving you insane, and when you but his lower lip slightly he squeezed your body close to his so tight you could barely breath, though you didn’t mind. You both slowly made your way to the nearest wall and pressed your back against it, now standing beside the door. He finally pulled away with a small gasp, looking in your eyes like a puppy, and you melted under his gaze.
“Should’ve done it so much earlier.” He whispered, smiling like an idiot, as your hands gripped onto the collar of his shirt, making him lean down again.
“Wanna do it again?” You smirked back, and without an answer Colin was already kissing you again with more passion. You closed your eyes again, still smiling against his lips.
Suddenly, the door opened slightly, making a small gap, and one of your friends peeked inside, but you and Colin were to busy to pay much attention to it.
“Y/N, you here? Where- OH MY-“ Colin cut your friend off by blindly shutting the door, not pulling away from you even for a second.
What a night.

Colin sat in his chair, staring infront of him. He looked down at his watch, preparing himself for the time. 12am. He sighed, rubbing his eyes as he contemplated his existence. He wanted to go home. He wanted to hug you and cuddle with a blanket.. he wanted sleep. That was his main priority and he really didn't have the time for this case he was working on. He grabbed his coffee cup, standing as he wobbled a bit, letting the blood flow.
He felt a little dizzy, but that wasn't important. What was? Well, he really needed to see you. Desperately.
So, he walked down the hall, running when he knew no one was looking. He ran out the doors, not even caring if his shoulders hurt horribly from him not waiting for the slow automatic doors to open. Once he made it to his car he put the coffee on the roof, unlocking it quickly before hopping in. He grabbed the coffee, setting it in the cup holder before starting his car with the classic ding.
He knew it was gonna be a long ride.
-time skip because I'm not writing all of that
He pulled into the drive way, getting out and making it to the door. He went in, looking around expecting to see you. Usually you always got really excited when he came home. But, as he made his way upstairs he saw you sleeping in the bed they shared. He didn't blame you. He was terribly sleepy himself, so he didn't hesitate to undress and change into more comfy clothes.
He put on a normal tee, grabbing some baggy boxers and slipping them on before sitting on the bed and looking at you for a moment. You looked so pretty like that. With the blueish light shining on your face, the darkness of the room adding a little highlight. He smiled looking at you, his heart thumping slightly. He took a deep breath, laying down next to you and pulling up the covers. He wrapped an arm around you, it being loose as he closed his eyes.
You were still asleep, but he didn't care. He just loved you and sleeping next to such a wonderful woman was a blessing to him. Any man was lucky to even be looked at by you. So, he went to sleep with the thought of you on his mind, just like every other night you two shared.
-next morning
You woke up the morning from colin. Which, it shouldn't have been. He needed to be at the station, but he was just sleeping. Right there next to you. It was 8am, he needed to be at work at 7am. That was the issue, so you obviously woke him up.
He turned over, his eyes droopy and clearly unaware of the situation. He murmured out a "babe?" But you didn't care. Colin was serious about his work. He would've been sad if you didn't push him. That was a fact.
"Colin you're late!" You said, your hands on his shoulders. He took a moment, but then he sprang out of bed and rushed to his closet immediately putting on some pants and a shirt, grabbing his stuff. "Uhh.. what time is it?" He asked, a worried look on his face. You answered quickly, also getting out of bed to get his coffee cup. He loved that coffee cup more than you.
You handed it to him, him giving a grateful nod before leaving cussing to himself. You looked out the window, watching him pull out of the driveway while he scrambled to find something. Probably his phone. But, he eventually found it and left.
Now it was quiet once more... boring too. Sometimes you did wish he didn't have that job but he was passionate about it. He always wanted to do something with his life and you never stopped him.
A breathy sigh left your lips as you sat back down on the bed, quite lonely. All you could do was wait until he got back, so you fell asleep in hopes of seeing him when you woke up.
-another skip, sorry!!
You woke up with some clanking in the kitchen. You got up, rubbing your eyes as you went out to check. But you knew who it was. Colin. He leaned on the counter, mayo and turkey infront of him while he chewed on a sandwich. You smiled at him, going over to hug him.
He hugged you back, still chewing on his sandwich while you kissed him on the cheek.
"How was work?" You asked, getting some bread out of the fridge.
"Horrible." Colin swallowed, turning to you.
"Why?" You were a little surprised but maybe he was just exaggerating like normal. Colin hesitated for a moment, his eyes drifting to the ground.
"Can't say." He let out a sigh, a little smile coming after. That was his usual answer, but you didn't blame him. He was a detective after all. He probably saw horrible things everyday. Today must've been pretty bad. You knew he had seen dead bodies and blood, but whatever it was today must've set him in a pretty bad mood.
"Okay.." you set the slices of bread down, putting mayo and turkey on it before getting some cheese too. Colin was very picky with his food.. but it made him so much more like a cutie.
"Well, you wanna get your mind off it? Maybe a movie or somethin?" You suggested, smiling at him. He looked over at you, then back at his half finished sandwich while he shook his head.
"No." He muttered, sighing. "I think I'm gonna take a shower. I'll talk to you later, babe." He leaned off the counter and took another bite out of his sandwich before walking away. You felt really bad, and once you finished chewing you yelled over at him right before he could close the door.
"Can I join?" You asked, smiling at him while he peeked through the door. He loved you.. he definitely wouldn't mind taking a shower with you.. plus maybe he could have a even better shower. So, he nodded, his face turning pink.
"Uhh.. yeah. Sure." He said, you taking one last bite before trotting over to the door and opening it. Colin turned the water on to the walk in shower, his hand going in it to check the temperature.
He turned his head back, watching you get undressed just like it was the first time he ever saw your body. Without even realizing it he blurted out, "you're beautiful, y/n." He smiled, looking over at you while he finally snapped out of it from the heat of the water. He let out a soft "ow" but he took his hand back, turning around fully to see you smiling. God... he loved that smile.
"Thank you. You look beautiful too." You added emphasis on beautiful to tease him, and he just laughed a little while he saw your body in all of its glory. He couldn't even fathom how much he loved you. How lucky he was to even be in your presence. He watched as you walked to the shower, feeling the water as well before getting in. He followed, pulling down his boxers and stepping in. It was already getting pretty steamy, so he reached for the shampoo above your head before getting some in his hands and washing his hair while he looked down, closing his eyes.
You looked over at him, almost laughing. He just looked so silly doing it, and from your laughing he naturally looked up. He gave you a confused look, but you continued to giggle and it caused him to laugh some too. "What?" He asked, the biggest smile on his face. You just continued to laugh, turning around as you got some shampoo, rubbing it in your head as well. Once you did, Colin began to laugh a little himself, all of his worries washing away along with the bubbles.
It already smelt wonderful, but you grabbed some body wash, starting from the bottom up. Colin watched, washing his body a little too. He was mostly interested in you as he watched your body get covered in soapy bubbles. It made you look so much prettier.
Colin washed off his body while you stood on the other end of the shower, still washing your skin. He was confused why you were taking so long but you were really just trying to overlay the bubbles evenly. Colin wanted to get out, but he waited till you washed off. He now thought to get out, but then you reached for another bottle.
Oh. Conditioner. He knew that.. totally. So he stayed while you put the substance in your hair. His eyes scanned over every curve on your body, making his stomach have some butterflies. He had forgotten how beautiful you were. From the back, that was. He reached over, his hand going to your hair as he helped. You hadn't expected it, but you of course weren't complaining. Why would you?
So, you let Colin's hands stroke through your hair, finally going under the water as he watched your hair turn to silk. He touched it some more, admiring how soft it was. Jesus... everything about you was so perfect. "You're really pretty." He broke the silence, smiling at you while you turned around. You let out a little laugh before you gave him a little kiss, smiling as well.
"You're very handsome." You returned the compliment, giving him another kiss as he turned a pink color. He leaned down, giving you a very warm hug from how warm he was and from the water pouring down on you. You hugged him back, closing your eyes as your head found a nice place to rest in the crook of his neck.
Colin had really forgotten about everything. All he had needed was you. His beautiful fiancée.. or his wonderful heart stopper. (Metaphorical not literally)
❀❀❀
Okay thats all. Hope you liked it ♡♡
Also the heart stopper thing is the only non creepy name. The other was "stress reliever" and honestly that sounds horrible. Just like the title

After finally finishing your shift at the station, you roll back from your desk, closing the binder full of paperwork shut with an exasperated sigh. A long day of gruelling work and yet, you felt like you had gotten nowhere in your newest assignment.
It had been a week since the murder of Erin McMenamin in Sharp’s Woods, and the case was close to becoming cold. The persistence of the townspeople was getting too much for you, after being heckled in the town you live in and being jeered at right outside your home.
You knew the townspeople were getting restless, so the urgency in discovering the culprit was beneficial if you wished to maintain a friendly relationship with any of the civilians.
You thought you would’ve had this in the bag, reassured by the fact your co-worker and long-term friend Mare Sheehan would be helping you, alongside with the new county detective, Colin Zabel, of whom was brought in by the chief. You protested at first, but you found the detective to be very helpful for your work, and not to mention, so fucking attractive. Although, you would never dare to tell him that.
You grab your half-drunk coffee and throw on your coat before making your way out of your office and down the corridor. Most of your colleagues have left by now, the rest chatting idly and grasping piles of paperwork from the day. You clutch onto your own, deciding to drop your binder off at detective Zabel’s office if he wished to review your notes the following day.
Turning the corner into Colin’s office, you are surprised to see him still sat by his desk, hunched over scattered papers that littered the office. He seemed frustrated, presumably with the case that you, him and Mare combined couldn’t solve. You immediately feel bad, knowing the stress the three of you are under is affecting him more than his happy, go-lucky self would like to admit.
You open the door with one hand whilst clutching the binder in another. The door creaks open as you walk in, but Colin doesn’t pay you any mind, as he continues to study his paper.
“Hey..” you say as you walk over to his desk, placing the binder on a filing cabinet nearby. You didn’t want to stress him out with even more work, especially at the end of his shift.
No response. Colin stays in his spot, eyes gliding over the paper as he rests his chin onto his clasped hands. His sleeves are rolled up to the elbow as he relaxes them on the desk, trying to stop his head from drooping down due to his exhaustion.
“Colin,” You stepped towards him, placing your hand gently on his shoulder.
He sighs, shifting his gaze off of his paper. You immediately notice the bags under his eyes, showing his tired state. His expression was annoyed. It seemed as if he was in a bad mood. Something you’ve seen a lot lately.
“Are you.. Ok?” You say, mentally cursing yourself at the stupid question. You never were great at being comforting, which is shown by the awkward grasp you have on his shoulder and the unnerving tension in the room.
Colin stays silent, pondering on his thoughts for a few moments before looking down at his paper, less motivated than before.
Not knowing what else to do, you snake your hand around his desk chair to his other shoulder, lightly embracing him in a hug. He leans somewhat closer to you in acceptance, adorning a small, half-hearted smile back at you. After a few moments, you let go, placing your palms on the desk and leaning forward so you could see him better.
“Do you want to.. Talk about it?”
“..No, i’m good.” He sighed a bit, his smile faded back to a frown as he once more looked down towards his paper.
“Are you sure?” You persist, “it might help.”
He didnt look towards you, more focused on his work rather than acknowledging you. “I’m fine, just.. Had an argument… thats all.”
“With who, mare?” You asked, knowing the two didn’t exactly get off on the right foot.
“Yea.” Colin said shortly, his eyes showing annoyance at the mention of her.
“Was it about the case?”
Colin nods “she just doesn’t respect me when it comes to working on cases.. She just acts like i’m stupid… like i dont know what im doing!” He spoke bitterly. Clearly he was more heated than he thought.
You lean back slightly as his voice rises, startled. He seemed to notice this.
“Sorry! Sorry.. Just… the case and mare’s just really getting to me right now.” He chuckled a tiny bit. “Shes a pain,,”
You laugh shortly, knowing mare prefers to work independently. She has yet to warm up to colin since they were both assigned to the case, which results in a lot of tension on both sides.
“I’m sorry about that, you know how mare is. Ill try to talk to her about it tomorrow.” You look towards the cups of coffee littering his desk, “and go easy on the coffee.” You tease.
He smirked slightly “Yeah.. ill try..” he chuckled before looking back to his paper. “Night..”
You look concerned, taking his paper from his grasp and out of his reach.
“Hey!” he said, surprised. He tried getting his paper back but you turned your body, clutching it close to you.
“This case is making you so stressed, Colin. Its clear that you are too pent up about Mare, it isnt helping you or this case. Get some rest, please. Its not heathy!” you look at him desperately.
“Hey-” he tried to reach for his paper again, but you didnt give up. “Please.. I need to get it done.” He sounded a lot more defeated than before.
You start to get frustrated “Please, Col. Just drop it! Come back in the morning and we will try again, together, okay?”
Colin stayed silent for a moment before sighing.
“Just.. whatever. Leave me alone, okay? Youre the one not helping right now.”
You step back in shock as you registered what he said. You scoff, moving around the room as you grab your coffee and coat.
“I know youre stressed colin.. But this is fucking unbelievable, and rather unprofessional. This case is hard, thats why chief assigned the three of us. If youre not mature enough to work together and let me help you, then i dont see the point of you on this case anyway.” you slam the paperwork he was previously studying back onto the desk.
Colin seems taken aback by your outburst. He opens his mouth in an attempt to speak, but closes it promptly, avoiding your sharp gaze.
“Ill let myself out.” you say shortly, making swift movements to the door. You pause for a moment, a small part of you hoping he would try to talk it out with you. You look back to see him hunched over his desk once more. You shake your head in disbelief and exit the room, leaving the station to go back home.
As soon as he heard the door slam, Colin turned his head, watching you walk down the corridor and out of sight. He sat up straight, the urge to follow you prominent, but he stopped himself, knowing he needs to let you and himself cool down. Instead he let out a small sigh and rubbed his face.
Looking down at his paperwork, he knew he wasnt in the right mind to keep going, so he grabs his coat and bag, locking his office door on the way out.
——————————————————————————
The morning came and you arrived a few minutes early to the station with Mare. You immediately beeline towards the coffee room, knowing you couldn’t function properly without it. After making your coffee, you take a few sips of the bitter liquid before someone walks in.
Colin.
He makes eye contact with you as he nears the coffee pot, pouring himself a cup.
The tension is thick between Mare and Colin, you can feel it. You swallow down the lump in your throat, sitting down at a nearby table where Mare was already sitting.
Colin just poured himself a big cup of coffee, coming over to another rounded table with a binder upon it. He sits down, opening it as he reaches into his pocket to pull out a pen, idly holding it between two fingers.
You look over briefly and see colin working again. Is that all he does? Work, work, work. No time for anything else. Not family, not coworkers.. Not.. you. Did he even care to start with?
You drowned out Mare’s idle ramblings as you gaze at the man only a few feet away from you. Your thoughts began to wander and you got into your own head. Colin didn’t really seem like the type to never have time for those around him. Though he had been more tense and distant after that last argument with Mare… maybe you should talk to him again? You didn’t like the tension between you two, and you didn’t want him mad at you either.
The coffee you were sipping was doing it’s thing, helping you become slightly relaxed again… and it made you feel a bit braver. At least brave enough to approach Colin about last night.
“Col?” you call out before hesitating. Too late, he heard you. Maybe it was time to talk.
Mare shuffles behind you, and you turn around to see her making her way out of the room. She gives you a knowing look, and you smile at her, mouthing a “thank you”. she nods and leaves the room. You turn your attention back to colin, clearing your throat.
He waited patiently for you to speak, he figured he knew exactly why you wanted to talk to him but he didnt want to make any assumptions.
“I’m worried about you col.” you say sincerely.
He seemed confused by your statement. “Why? Did mare say something to you?”
You hesitate telling him, not wanting to rile him up again. “No.. i just. Ive been noticing things about you and.. You know what? Forget it.” you say, hesistating as you back down.
“..well that just makes me want to know more.” Colin says, his expression begging you to continue. He puts his pen on the table, folding his arms upon it.
You take in a breath, deciding to get it over with. “Its work, colin. All day. I know its your job, its mine and mares job too. But youre overdoing it, its draining you and it shows. You barely notice anyone here anymore. You dont talk to mare, you ignore all our colleagues, and..me. You act like i dont even exist.” you say with a pained expression, “is your job so goddamn important that you have to abandon your life?” you breathe in once more, trying to calm yourself down as tears begon to stream down your face. God, get it together!
He stayed silent for a moment. He felt his eyes go wide as he listened to you. it was obvious he hadn't realized that he's been doing this as he was so focused working on the murder case.
"Woah... I never meant to, you know that right? I didn't think.....” He began to get defensive, whilst trying to not snap at you.
“Of course you didnt fucking think, Colin!” Well, so much for being calm. Bye bye, rational thoughts. “In these past couple of weeks, when did you ever take the time to give a single fuck what anyone thinks around here?” You started to sob, the urge to walk away making you stand up abruptly and pace around the room.
"So you're mad because I'm not spending enough time with you...and the others... that's it?!" He sounded offended at your remarks, the stress of the case making his anger rise again.
"I have no time to be...hanging around and chatting with people who are only disrupting me from my job. I have work to do!” He scoffs.
You turn to face him in a flurry of rage, and walk up to him with an accusatory finger pointed at his chest. “So thats all you have to say huh? Is that all i am to you?” You shout. “well im sorry im such an inconvenience to you Colin, i really am! im sorry that im trying to help you through all this stress you have, and look at this! Youre just fucking throwing it back in my face. Youre not the same person you were before, Colin. Youre really not.”
"I-I'm not trying to-....I'm sorry, okay?! What else do you want me to say?!" he was becoming more frustrated and even more angry by the second now. “Ive just been busy!”
You sigh in exasperation “you dont get it, do you? thats why im trying to help! I know your busy, everyone in the goddamn workplace is! Thats why we are here, we help eachother. But no, you just have to push everyone who cares about you away!”
Colin just let you yell at him. He didn't say anything else as he tries to avoid your gaze.
You looked at him, pained, before walking straight past him, out of the door and into your own office, locking the door. You couldn’t see him right now.
Colin just stared at the door for a moment, not knowing what to do now. Maybe it was for the best though...
——————————————————————————
A few hours later, it was the end of your shift, you were considerably calmer now as you made your way home, hanging up your jacket and closing the door.
That night, no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t get any sleep. Thats how you ended up at Colin’s front door at 2am in the morning. One moment you were staring blankly up at your ceiling, the next you were pulling up into his driveway, in disbelief of your own actions.
You sat in your car, pondering on what the fuck you were doing for a moment, before getting out and knocking on the door quickly. Feeling a cold, uncomfortable sensation in your feet, you looked down, realising you were wearing your fluffy slippers, that were now soaked, and a pair of silk pajamas. Yeah, You dont seem remotely insane right now.
Before you could turn to go back to your car, you hear the unlocking of the door as it creaked open, revealing a very disgruntled and tired Colin. He was clad in a navy sweatshirt and pajama bottoms, his hair ruffled up and eyes half open. What an epic fucking slumber party this is about to be, eh?
“..Hi..” you say slowly, every thing you had thought about in those few hours of staring at your ceiling flying out of the window as you stared blankly at Colin, your brain wracking for something, anything to say.
“Can i come in? I think we left things on a bad note.”
Colin stood silent for a few moments, trying to comprehend what was going on before nodding, then opening the door wider for you to come inside.
"Of course, come in.”
You walk into his living room, thinking of what to say as Colin busied himself with closing and locking the door. He reached you, staring expectantly into your eyes.
“I’m sorry..” you let out, knowing your burst of anger was quite harsh on him, although accurate. You cringe at the thick awkward tension in the air, and you mentally curse yourself for not saying anything else. Maybe it was due to the early hours of the morning, or the fact that Colin looked mighty fine right now, but your brain was fogging to the extent you couldn’t even think properly.
"Look, I- you know I don't want to be mad at you either... i-i care about you a lot. More than i let on…” He trailed off, still not really sure on what to say, despite crafting a script in his head for the last couple of hours.
“And i care about you too, more than anything, Col.” You finally say, choosing your words carefully. “I’m just so worried about you. You need to stop with this workload and let me help you.”
"Thank you... I'm sorry... I shouldn't have...just...I don't know." He couldn't think straight right now. All Colin knew was that he didn’t want to argue anymore.
Thinking about your awkward hug in his office, you outstretched your arms, feebly smiling at him as his tired eyes lit up ever so slightly.
“I-I'm not used to someone caring this much about me...I'm confused...I don't know what to say or do." He says, taking in a deep breath.
As you reached out your arms, he just stood there, not moving. He wanted to hug you, God, nothing felt better than your arms wrapped around him, but he felt bad for how he made you feel, and the fact you were the one to come to him to apologise first.
“Col.. why is me caring about you so hard to believe?” You ask, pained that he thought of himself as someone unlovable. You knew about his break up with his fiancé, but you didn’t know it was this bad.
He looked at you then walked promptly towards you, accepting your hug as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders.
You breathed in his scent, a mix of sandalwood and citrus head notes infiltrating your nostrils. Your muscles relaxed around him as you hummed in content, resting your head on his chest and basking in his warmth.
"I'm... I just..."
Colin was trying to gather his thoughts now, but the feeling of your frame enveloped in his embrace making it even harder to think, let alone speak.
“I know. Im sorry. Were really shit at this, aren’t we? You joked, trying to cheer him up as best you could.
Colin laughed a bit, sounding more relaxed after hugging you. You were comforting him and making him forget completely about the stress eating away at him.
"Yeah, for sure. I'm sorry for everything I've been doing, I don't really know how to express myself like i want to. But i’ll try, for you.” He smiled warmly as he looked down at you. You returned the gesture as you hesitantly left his grasp, his warmth replaced by the bitter, sharp breeze of the night.
Observing his facial features, you stared into his eyes, so dark yet so comforting, making you feel so safe and secure.
Colin stared back for a few seconds, before deciding to step back, but he made sure to keep his hand on your hip. He didn't wanted you to drift away yet, not if he had a choice. He cleared his throat as you said nothing more.
"Why are you smiling at me like that?"
During the hug, you finally realised why you got so riled up about Colin, and why his presence alone made any stressful situation turn comforting for you. Beaming at him, you stepped closer.
“Colin, Im in love with you.”
His entire body froze in shock as you said that, he didn't know how to react, as always. All he could do after that was look at you in be wonderment.
“Colin, i love you.” You repeated, grinning at the pleasant feeling it left within you. It felt good to finally say it, wether he returned the feelings or not.
He blushed heavily as you said that. Colin always knew he was in love with you from the start, which was probably the reason why you clicked so fast. To hear you say those words made his heart pump in rapid succession as his stomach fluttered uncontrollably.
“You are, you really are?” He confirms, watching your gleeful expression, “Shit. I love you too.” Colin watched as your smile got even wider, if that were possible, and all the frustrations and stress of the previous day completely disappeared. “You love me back?”
He could barely believe that everything ended up this way. After all the arguments and stress it ended like this...the two of you finally getting together.
“I do love you. I have for a while now."
His expression was just a big smile. It was surreal for him, you telling him that you loved him and him saying the same to you. It was something he didn't really think would happen, like, ever.
You slapped him arm jokingly, laughing. “Why didnt you say anything!”
He put his hands in his pockets and looked away slightly, unable to contain the grin on his face. His dimples appeared, the reality of what was happening coming to terms with him.
“I don't know! I just thought- i thought you'd never feel the same way, I never thought that you'd want me too."
You shook your head, placing your hands around his face and observing it like it was the last time you would ever see it. Colin froze, he was blushing so much it was actually embarrassing. He’d never felt this nervous in his life.
“What are you doing?..." he laughed through the nerves.
“Can i kiss you?” You said abruptly.
For the first time in his life, Colin was sure of something. Hearing you say those words was enough for him.
He moved his hand from your chin and wrapped both his arms around your waist, pulling you close to him. Colin pressed himself up close to you, both your chests rising and falling in Synchronisation.
He slowly nodded, his eyes closing a little as he smiled. The moment his eyes closed, he went in for the kiss, meeting you halfway.
You closed your eyes, kissing him slowly as you moved your hands into his messy hair, gently pulling it and smiling at the gentle whimpers eliciting from his mouth.
His lips were soft and tender, he was slowly growing more passionate in the kiss, yearning to get as close as he could.
His hands feebly rubbed up and down your waist, careful not to go too low down in order to stay respectful to you. Not like you cared where he touched you, but you appreciated the gesture anyway.
Stumbling over to the couch, refusing to let go of one another, you laid yourself down, with Colin positioned over you, before connecting your lips again with a new feeling: passion.
He felt his cheeks blushing even more now. The sudden new feeling of lust radiating off the both of you. He presses deeper into the kiss, the heat from the passion he felt building between you two. It was so...enticing.
“Can i stay here tonight?” You mumbled through the kiss, your heart beating rapidly fast.
Colin pulled away from the kiss for a second...his cheeks were blushing as he tried to answer you through the kiss, failing miserably.
“Yes...yes you can."
His voice was a little bit shakey as his body was trying to catch up with everything that had just happened.
He gently kissed you once more, before he stopped, your lips chasing his. He was enjoying it, oh fuck was he enjoying it, but he wanted to make that part special.
You switch position, laying on top of his chest as Colin gently strokes your hair, using his other hand to slide underneath your pajama shirt and gently rub your back. Looking up at him, you smiled at him one last time before you closed your eyes, falling asleep to the rhythmic beating of his heart.
Colin grinned, the giddy feeling not leaving him as he stared at the ceiling once more, thinking about what he could do for your first date, that he had yet to even ask you out on.
He carefully moved his arms just a little bit to make sure you were resting comfortably. He didn't move much now, just making sure he didn't wake your sleeping figure.
After a few minutes, he too drifted off, the both of you snoozing with smiles plastered onto your faces.

Rose was gurgling in her car seat, trying to put her foot in her mouth. It was a struggle, because of the way she was strapped in. Colin’s mom had thankfully agreed to babysit for the hardest part of the move.
Now it was the final stretch, and the girls were with you. You just had to move the final few boxes, and then you would be in your new home.
Daisy was a little teary-eyed. You were, after all, leaving the only home she’d ever known. It was the home where she’d spent the first five years of her life, where you had fallen in love Colin, where her baby sister had first come home.
Rose, at about eleven months old, didn’t have enough awareness of what was going on to be upset. She stared at her big sister with big brown eyes, not understanding what was wrong.
“Are you excited to see the new house, Daisy? We told you about the garden, right? It’s got a lovely big garden.” You reached back over the back of your seat to stroke her arm.
“I know.” The girls hadn’t seen the house yet, but you’d decorated Daisy’s new bedroom in a way that you were sure she’d love.
Your friend Louise, who was pretty good at painting, had helped you paint a mural onto one of the walls. It was a scene of a jungle, with all her favourite animals featured.
Rose’s room – having separate rooms for your daughters was a big driving force behind moving house – had a mural too, but it was an undersea scene. Colin had taken the girls to the aquarium once, and Rose had sat, transfixed, staring at all the different fish.
“And we’ve got a present waiting for you when we get there,” said Colin, flashing you a grin from the driver’s seat.
“A present?” That had perked Daisy up. “What present?”
“You’ll see. It’s a surprise.”
“A surprised,” said Daisy, quietly. “I like surprisedes.”
You squeezed her hand. “Nearly there, sweetheart.”
The new house was only a ten-minute drive from the old one. It was also closer to Colin’s mom, which was very convenient, since she was always glad to babysit the girls.
As Colin pulled into the driveway, you said, “here we are.”
Daisy stared up at the house. Your old house had only one floor, but this one had two, which was a novel experience for her. The master bedroom also had an ensuite bathroom, which was a big perk for you and Colin.
Colin turned off the ignition and twisted around in his seat. “You wanna have a look around?” Daisy nodded.
You picked up Rose, while Colin took Daisy’s hand. He had a free hand, so he unlocked the front door and pushed it open wide. It opened into the living room. As you tried to walk up the steps, Max cut past you, completely unfazed by the change of scenery. He plopped himself down on the dog bed in the corner, and very quickly fell asleep.
“Rude,” you grumbled affectionately.
“Two sofas,” said Daisy, her eyes wide.
Granted, the sofas weren’t very big, but there were indeed two of them.
Your budget would be a little tight for a while, but Colin had just got a promotion at work, which came with a big bonus, which, along with the proceeds from selling your old house, as well as a gift from his mom, was enough to cover the deposit on this place.
“Come on, Daisy-daze,” said Colin, “Let’s give you the grand tour.”
You followed behind them, much more slowly. Rose kept holding out her hands, trying to touch things, which you let her do (carefully).
She was cradled in your arms as you walked into the kitchen. Colin and Daisy had already moved on. You supposed Daisy wasn’t all that interested in the kitchen. It had a brand new fridge, and in the corner were Max’s food and water bowls.
Rose pointed to the big glass double doors that led the garden, made a questioning noise, but you shook your head.
“Not yet, baby. Daddy’s saving the garden until last.” You hitched her higher up on your hip and headed upstairs. You could hear Daisy talking rapidly in her room – the door of which was marked with a wooden letter ‘D’ that was painted her favourite colour, orange – so you knocked.
“Come in!” came Daisy’s excited reply. You opened the door and she barrelled into your legs, almost knocking you off balance. Daisy was a lot heavier than she used to be, and she didn’t know her own strength.
“Woah there, sweetheart. Be careful, mama’s holding Rose right now.”
“Sorry, mama, I just love it so much.” She pointed at the big painting of the lion. “Daddy said Lulu made it.”
“She did,” you said, shifting Rose onto your other hip. Colin took a step towards you, holding out his arms to take her. Wordlessly, you passed her over. It was a familiar dance by now. Colin lifted your baby daughter up to his face and pressed kisses to both her cheeks.
“Hello my little angel,” he said, “How do you like the new house?” Rose gurgled happily. “Good.” He kissed her forehead.
The room was set up with a bed in the corner with a bright orange bedspread that had pictures of suns on it. Almost all of Daisy’s stuffed animals, barring the couple that she’d slept with at her last night in the old house, were lined up, waiting for her.
There was also an old chest of drawers you’d managed to get secondhand, and a desk that wouldn’t have fit in her old bedroom. It wouldn’t be too long before she started school, so you thought it was a nice to have. Even if she didn’t need it for homework, she could always use it for colouring in.
“Let’s go see Rose’s room, okay?”
You led your little family into the room with the red ‘R’ on the door. Rose’s room was a little smaller, but it had more floorspace, since it lacked the desk. Her new crib had been set up, with a fish-themed mobile above it. There was a chest of drawers too, as well as her playmat and toybox.
Colin set Rose down on the playmat. She immediately started to crawl, the intrepid explorer of her own new bedroom. She had almost made it to the door when you scooped her up.
“Looks like baby Rose wants to see the rest of the house. Shall we?”
Colin took Daisy’s hand again. She was less interested in the bathrooms, or in your bedroom, but as you walked downstairs, you could tell she was getting excited again.
“Are you ready for your present, Dais?” asked Colin.
“Yes, please, daddy.”
“Okay, check this out.”
You were in the kitchen now, and Colin fiddled with the locks on the back door. As soon as it was open, Daisy bounded out into the new garden. You heard her gasp before you had even made it outside yourself.
“Is that… for me?” she asked shyly, pointing at the shiny new bike that was sitting on the back porch. It was dark orange with a white basket and tassels hanging from the handlebars. It had training wheels for now, but Colin was hoping she would graduate from them soon. You were less sure. In your eyes, she was still only a baby.
“That’s your present, sweetheart,” said Colin, ruffling her hair. She spun around and hugged his legs tight.
“Thank you, daddy!” After a moment, she let go of him and sprinted over towards you. “Thank you, mama!”
With Rose on your hip, you couldn’t quite hug Daisy as well as you were hoping, but you managed to wrap one arm around her.
“Can I ride it, please, mama?”
You looked over at Colin, who was grinning at you. This was precisely the reaction that you’d both been hoping for.
“Rose is starting to get fussy,” you said. “I’m gonna put her down for a nap, if you want to help Daisy with her bike.”
You could tell it was something he was excited about. He stepped over to you and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“You’re the best, baby,” he murmured, and then kissed your temple. Rose made a whiny noise, so he kissed her on the top of the head.
You could hear Daisy’s whoops and shrieks of delight as you carried Rose upstairs to her new bedroom.
“How do you like your new room, huh, baby?” you cooed. “And your new crib. It’s a very pretty crib, isn’t it, Rosie?” You set her down.
Although she couldn’t understand what you were saying, she ran her chubby little fingers over the bars, examining her new bed.
“It’s nice and purple, isn’t it, sweetheart? Do you like the purple? Do you like your new mobile too? I know you like fishies.”
Rose had had a blank but curious expression on her face until you said the word ‘fishies’, at which point she looked at you and her little face broke into a huge grin, revealing all four of her teeth. You grinned back at her.
“Look, fishies,” you said, spinning the mobile. Rose reached up, grasping for them, although they were far too high up for her to reach. “Don’t tell your dad I said this, but maybe when you’re older, we’ll get an aquarium, and put lots of lovely fishies in it. You’d like that wouldn’t you, baby? Lots of-”
You were cut off by a shriek from outside. It wasn’t the playful shrieks that you’d been hearing for the past few minutes. It sounded pained.
Before you had a chance to think anything else, you heard loud sobbing.
Daisy. Shit.
Rose was still wriggling about, so you knew that she’d cry if you left her. For a moment, you wondered if you could leave Colin to deal with the Daisy situation, but you knew you couldn’t. Daisy hardly ever cried out loud. If she did, you knew something was very wrong.
You picked up Rose and made your way back down the stairs as fast as you dared while holding your infant daughter.
The back door was still open. You cradled Rose’s head close to your chest as you stepped outside.
Daisy’s bike was in a heap next to the porch. Daisy herself was lying in the grass, covering her face with her arms. Colin was crouched beside her, doing his best to comfort her, but looking very out of his depth.
“Where does it hurt, Daisy? I need you to show me,” he said, and you could tell that his patience was fraying.
“What happened?” you asked, and Colin’s head shot up. His eyes darted from you to Rose and back, and he grimaced.
“It’s my fault,” he said. “I took my eyes off her for two seconds and she slammed right into the edge of the porch.”
Despite your best efforts, Rose kept twisting around to try and see what was going on with her sister. At the sight of Daisy’s sobbing form, Rose began to wriggle and cry too. Hearing this, Daisy looked up at you. Her tearstained face broke your heart.
“Hey baby,” you said, squatting down next to her. Behind you, you heard Colin going back into the house. “What happened? Where does it hurt?”
Sniffling, she held out her hands. Her palms were badly grazed, and bleeding a little bit.
“I’m sorry, sweetie. That looks really painful. Anywhere else?”
“Knees,” she said, quietly.
“Here, show me.”
She shifted so that her legs were right out in front of her. There were fresh holes in her tights right at the knees, which were grazed too, though not as badly as her hands.
“Poor baby girl,” you said, stroking her hair. “You’ve had a bit of a shock, haven’t you?”
Rose had quieted by now, but she was wrigglier than ever. She was reaching for Daisy. You had to keep shifting her position.
“Hey,” came Colin’s voice from above you. He knelt down on Daisy’s other side, holding out a first aid kit. “Daddy’s gonna fix you up, okay sweetheart? I’m so sorry.”
“Not your fault, daddy.”
He didn’t argue, but you could tell he didn’t believe her. You knew how he felt. For the first couple of years, you had tortured yourself over every miniscule bruise and skinned knee, convinced that you were a terrible mother.
“We’re gonna give these cuts a little clean, okay?” said Colin soothingly. “It’ll sting a little bit, but then it’ll feel better. You need to a brave girl right now, okay?”
Daisy’s lip wobbled, but she nodded.
“Mama and daddy are right here for you, okay?” you said, stroking her hair again.
“And Rose,” she said.
“And Rose.”
Always trusting, she held out her hands to Colin. He poured a bit of antiseptic onto a cotton pad and dabbed at the graze. She winced, but didn’t pull her hands back. After a moment, it was done.
“Good girl.” You wrapped your arm around her shoulders and squeezed gently. “My brave, brave girl. You know, mama kisses have special healing powers, right?”
You kissed her palm very gently. She giggled. “I know, mama.” You kissed her other palm.
“What about daddy kisses?” asked Colin.
“I hear they’re pretty good too,” you said.
He lifted Daisy’s hands up to his face and kissed both palms. She giggled again, harder this time. “The hard part is over now,” he said. “Your knees shouldn’t hurt as much.” You helped Daisy take her tights off so that Colin could clean her up more easily.
After checking that they were, indeed, a write-off, you tossed them in the general direction of the house. They would be going in the bin.
Colin repeated the process with Daisy’s knees. She kept her eyes screwed shut, her little hand in yours, for the whole procedure.
“All done,” said Colin. He leant in to kiss her forehead. “Well done, Daisy.”
“Well done, Daisy,” you agreed.
“Daisy,” said Rose, nodding.
You were stroking Daisy’s hair back from her face, and you froze. You turned to look at Rose. “What did you just say?”
“Daisy.” Rose pointed with her whole hand at her older sister. She was wriggling so much that it was hard to keep a grip on her. She wanted to get to Daisy.
You looked at Colin. He looked just as dumbstruck as you felt.
Daisy’s face split into a grin. “She said my name!”
“She did,” said Colin. He laughed, all trace of anxiety gone.
You let Rose crawl towards Daisy. She planted herself firmly in her sister’s lap. She flailed around for a moment until she managed to grab Daisy’s arm. You all watched as she pressed her mouth against Daisy’s hand in a facsimile of a kiss.
“She’s trying to heal you,” you said. “That’s the secret, actually. Rosie-kisses have the best healing powers of all.” Colin met your eye over Daisy’s head. Your heart had never felt so full.
“Thank you, Rose,” said Daisy. She stroked her baby sister’s hair.
“Why don’t we go inside and have a snack, huh, Daisy?” asked Colin. He stood up and dusted himself off. Daisy glanced over at where her bike lay, crumpled on the ground, and her smile faltered.
She looked as though she was about to start crying again.
“What’s wrong?” you asked. “Does it hurt?” She mumbled something you couldn’t hear. “What was that?”
“I breaked my bike.” Tears were rolling down her face again. “It was a present and I breaked it!”
Colin stood up and went to go investigate the damage.
“It’s not broken, sweetheart, look,” he said, standing it up. “It’s just a bit of mud, you see? It’s just dirty. We can give it a little spray with the hose and it’ll be as good as new.”
“Really?” asked Daisy shyly.
“Really.”
“Come on my love,” he said, picking her up, careful to avoid her grazes. “Let’s get you that snack.”

You step out of the shower, steam stirring around you as you wrap your hair turban-style in a towel. The anticipation of a proper night-out since you made the bold move to quit your job in Europe and pursue another life in the US tingles in your veins. It feels like forever since you’ve let loose, and tonight promises to be nothing short of epic.
Plopping down onto your bed, you grab your go-to jar of coconut body butter from the dresser. You squeeze a generous dollop onto your palm and rub your hands together. The creamy texture blends in as you work it onto your skin, leaving it smooth and oh-so-soft.
As you immerse yourself in your ritual, you hear the familiar buzz of a FaceTime call. Glancing over at your bedside table, you see “Adria,” your friend’s name, glowing on the screen. You pick up your phone, still coated in moisturiser, and her face pops up. A look of desperation is written all over her features.
“Hey, girl! What’s up?” you chirp, propping the phone on your desk to finish off your pampering session.
She lets out a dramatic groan. “Send help,” she whines, her voice tinged with panic. “I’m having a meltdown over here. I swear, I got nothing to wear.”
You can’t help but giggle at her faux-crisis. “First-world problems, brain rot,” you tease, sneaking a peek at the heap of clothes behind her. “I see you’ve got quite a selection to pick from.”
Adria pouts, swatting playfully at the camera. “Nah, these don’t count. I need everyone to be ‘she ate and left no crumbs.’ What’re going for tonight? I need some inspo!”
You chuckle sympathetically, holding the phone aloft as you pivot to show her your fit for tonight laid out on your bed. “I’m going for less is more—my thrifted mini satin dress and racing black leather jacket with my military boots and white tube socks for a touch of sass.”
She gives you a strained smile as she takes in your outfit. “Ahh, you pull off that casual vibe effortlessly, babe.”
You flip the camera back to you, shrugging nonchalantly, “I’m casual and proud!”
Adria rolls her eyes with a teasing glint. “Okay, but what about makeup? You gotta glam it up… you know the LA sparkle! That’s how we do it in East Hollywood, at least!”
You scoff, shaking your head. “Nah, I’m feeling the au naturel look. You know I suck with makeup big time—I’d probably end up looking like Pennywise.”
Rather than rehashing your “Why makeup should be banned” manifesto, you choose to dig further into the evening’s plans. “So, who else’s joining us tonight, Ad?”
She rattles off a list of names, both female and male—some known, others unknown—and you nod along. “Gotcha. I’ll be ready by 10.”
“Perf. I’ll swing by to pick you up then. Buckle up for a wild night, biyyyatch!” she exclaims, wiggling her brows at you.
You let out a choked laugh as you observe her grimacing. “Alrighty, catch you soon!”
Once you hang up, you slip into your outfit and let your hair fall loose, fluffing it up for a bit of volume. No need for fancy blowouts tonight—you’re all about that breezy, air-dried look.
With a spritz of perfume and a final check in the mirror, you grab your essentials and head out into the dazzling city lights.
As you strut into the club with your gang, the uplifting beats hit you like a wave of energy. The nostalgic tunes of early 2000’s R&B thump in your chest, urging you to groove with every step. You all weave through the sea of nightclubbers, the party mode building up inside you like a pressure cooker ready to explode.
“Let’s hit the bar!” Tommy, one of the guys and Adria’s boyfriend, shouts over Missy Elliot. You all nod in agreement, eager to keep the high spirits flowing with some booze.
You slither through more partygoers who dance erratically, all while juggling their drinks. Some move smoothly to the rhythm, while others simply jiggle around out of tune.
Neon lights flash and strobe, casting an electric glow over the bartender as he polishes a row of whiskey glasses with cool confidence. A cheeky smile plays on his lips as you hop onto an empty stool before him.
“What can I get you started?” he roars over the music, his voice cutting through the din.
“Coronas all around,” you holler, matching his tone with equal fervour. You hand him a wad of cash chipped in by everyone.
“Coming right up.” With a flick of his wrist, he expertly pops the cap off the bottle, sliding them your way with a wink.
“Thanks,” you mouth, shooting him a grin before heading back to your friends with a tray.
You take a long, satisfying gulp, the crisp taste of beer quenching your thirst. With your beverage in hand, you pace to the dance floor, your friends in tow only metres away.
Your hips swing in harmony with the melody, and your feet glide effortlessly across the ground. Heads turn and whispers follow your path. Some even reach out, uttering unintelligible words, or brush against your shoulder as you pass by.
Ignoring the distractions, you grab Adria and Jasmine, dragging them into the heart of the dance floor while the rest of the group forms a circle around you. The music engulfs you, momentarily sweeping away the grim memories of your pre-relocation life.
With each song that blares through the speakers, your body twists and twirls with fluid grace, each move perfectly timed to the tempo of the music. In that moment, you feel more alive, more liberated than ever before.
As time trickles by, the music continues to pump and the lights swirl around you. You notice Joseph, the lone blond dude in the squad, inching closer and closer to you as the night stretches on.
“Heyo, Y/N! How’s it going?” he greets you with a tap on the shoulder, his voice rumbling near your ear.
“Hey! All good now. How’s you?” you retort with a tight-lipped smile, bringing your Corona to your lips for another sip.
“Now that I’m chatting with you, much better!” he quips back, a hint of mischief in his tone. “How are you liking the States?”
Just as you’re about to respond, joyous screams erupt from Adria and a couple of other girls from your group, catching your attention. Before you can fully process what’s happening, Adria dashes toward you and jumps into your arms, nearly knocking you off balance.
“Girl! Are you on Molly or something? What’s going on?” you mock, smoothing out your dress on the cleavage before you start flashing whoever’s at close vicinity.
“Omg, you won’t believe it!” Adria squeaks, frantically clapping her hands.
You raise an eyebrow, intrigued. “Try me.”
“Ahh, my fangirling is through the roof right now! Evan Peters is here,” she cries out, bouncing up and down, squeezing your hand tightly.
You furrow your eyebrows in confusion. “Who?”
“Evan Peters, Y/N! The hottie from American Horror Story… Kai Anderson, Cult? Kit Walker, Asylum? Seriously, don’t these ring any bells? Umm… Dahmer? Come on—you’ve watched that series!” she insists, her voice pitch rising as she tries to jog your memory.
A flicker of recognition crosses your face as your friend’s description sinks in. “Oh, right, Evan Peters,” you concede with a faint smile. “I remember now…And?”
Adria’s eyes widen, her mouth falling open in disbelief. “And?? He’s in the same space as us, breathing the same oxygen, Y/N!”
You shake your head, trying to inject a dose of reality into her Hollywood-induced haze. “Okay, but let’s be real here. He’s a mega star, so totally out of league. I mean, we’ve got about as much chance with him as a blue whale does with climbing Mount Everest,” you quip and fold your arms, narrowing your eyes at her. “And you’ve got a boyfriend, in case you forgot.”
Adria’s enthusiasm deflates slightly as she’s reminded of Tommy. “It’s not the same,” she protests sheepishly, fiddling with her bracelet. “You know how celebrity crushes work. How can I not crave Evan when he’s graced the world with his Tate Langdon role?”
You can’t help but laugh at her delirium. “Ugh, Adria, it’s giving obsession and borderline restraining order from Peters if you keep this up. Let’s just focus on having a blast tonight and drop the celebrity fantasies, okay?”
A couple of hours melt away, and the energy of the dance floor begins to wane. Most of your friends retreat to a nearby table to freshen up. But not you. With two others by your side, you’re on a mission to keep the party alive, letting the music guide your body with a fierce determination.
Mid-twirl, though, your eyes snag on something unexpected—a figure lingering at the fringes of the dance floor, his attractive gaze burning into you like a laser beam, sending a bolt of lightning down your back. It takes a moment for you to register who it is, but when you do, your heart kicks into overdrive.
Evan Peters.
You try to play it cool, biting down on the inside of your cheek to stifle the grin that’s itching to break free. You try to pass it off as just a coincidence, a trick of the light or a delulu figment of your imagination, but when you steal another glance in his direction, you find his eyes still trained on you. This time around, he offers a timid smile.
Your throat feels like it’s swallowed a golf ball as you sense his eyes fixed on you. Desperate to shake off the sudden self-consciousness, you rummage through your tiny shoulder bag for your phone. Your fingers jitter as you feign interest in your screen, scrolling aimlessly through your main menu or typing out gibberish in your notes app.
But even as you try to stay composed, his stare weighs on you like a ton of bricks. Are you tripping? Feeling more awkward and exposed than ever (you don’t have Evan Peters laying eyes on you every day), you motion to your friends that you’re heading to the restroom. Anything to escape the spotlight, even if it’s only for a sec.
This time, you bulldoze through the crowd, head low, with the toilets being your last glimmer of hope for salvation. Or so you think. Just as you’re about to slip away, a warm, soft hand gently closes around your wrist, halting you in your tracks.
Every muscle in your body tenses as you slowly turn to confront the person obstructing your way. And there he is, Evan Peters in the flesh, standing before you with an enigmatic grin playing at the corners of his lips.
Your heart leaps into your throat when you face him, every nerve in your body suddenly on high alert. Your mind races a mile a minute—Is this real life? Did you manifest this? Is Evan Peters actually in front of you?
Fuck, Adria’s right. He’s hot as hell, you ruminate, feeling your breath clutching in your throat.
Before you can even gather your thoughts, he greets you with a seductive rasp. “Hey.” His eyes seal with yours in a way that makes your knees turn into jelly.
I just saw you and heard you in person, Evan! Scrap everything I said to Adria. Forget the restraining order. Just slap the handcuffs on me, and do whatever you want... Erhm, I mean, take me into custody cause staring at you should definitely be illegal.
You freeze, unable to tear your eyes away from his handsome dark brown (almost black) eyes and silky tousled curls. A feeble “Hi” is all you manage, your voice barely above a whisper as a nervous flutter stomps onto your stomach.
“Having a good time?” he checks in, his smile widening by the second.
“The asphyxiation I feel right now must be a sure sign that I’m enjoying myself, right?” you reply, fanning your hand in front of your face for dramatic effect.
His throaty laughter bubbles up from deep within him, the sound instantly cranking up your heartbeat. It’s genuine and infectious, like he’s letting down his guard and inviting you into his world, flashing those perfect teeth like they’re on a billboard.
“If you’re suffocating from excitement, then you must be doing something right. But don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye out on you. If you turn purple, I’ll dial 911,” he teases, gently lifting your chin with his index finger and giving you a full inspection with feigned seriousness. “Nope, we’re good. So far, all I see is beauty, no signs of death.”
You can feel your cheeks heating up with embarrassment, so you instinctively lower your head, hoping to hide your rose-tinted face.
You battle to keep it together, but the fact that his hand hasn’t budged from your wrist since your eyes met screams, ‘fainting spell incoming.’ As if that’s enough, his thumb traces soft circles on your skin, sending goosebumps up your arm. “You make me cringe, do it again,” you joke, and you both share a laugh.
“Alright, let’s see what card I should pull next. Here it comes, drumroll—on behalf of everyone in here, I testify to your: ‘I got some serious moves and conquered the dance floor, but I need a breather now.’” he rambles and raises his free hand in mock ovation, his grin laced with mischief.
You chuckle, a surge of confidence brewing within you. “Well, it takes the greatest of them all to verify this. A lifetime of dancing lessons didn’t go down the drain, I guess. I appreciate your testament, sir, and the panel’s verdict,” you coo, bowing theatrically.
Once again, his laughter fills the space between you, warm and hearty.
After a few minutes of silence and a staring contest that makes it agonising for you to breathe, you finally utter, “I said this would be my night, and, apparently, I meant that,” discreetly eyeing him from head to toe, semi-drooling.
“Yeah? Any highlights of the night?” he inquires, his tone dripping with curiosity, and you can’t resist playing along after letting your thoughts slip out loud.
“Nothing yet. But I’m counting on your highlighter to illuminate my way,” you spill out, playfully tilting your head to the side. A sly grin spreads across your lips as you throw the bait, hoping he’ll keep up with your pun game.
His “strike” is immediate as he edges closer to you. “Believe it or not, I’ve got one on me that can change your night from the inside out,” he shoots back, his smile growing, clearly on the same innuendo-laden wavelength as you. You’re a match made in flirtatious banter heaven, true that.
“I need some inside work, that’s for sure. Glad you’re volunteering,” you reply, feeling a rush of heat flood through you at his words. Then, you quickly transition, turning his wrist stroking into a handshake as you introduce yourself.
He hums, gently taking your hand in his, his smile stretching wide enough to reveal his adorable dimples that only add to his charm. “Evan.”
“I know,” you admit, unable to contain your broad smile. “But just an FYI, I haven’t binged-read your fanfics or analysed our astrology charts to see if we’re soulmates. I’ve gone as far as watching Dahmer. Stellar performance, by the way,” you blurt out, still shaking his hand.
He rolls his lips into his mouth to suppress another giggle. “Okay, chill. No need to prove you’re not a psycho. Wanna grab a drink to cool off?”
“No need to ask,” you fire back with equal enthusiasm, both of you grinning like kids in a candy store. Without hesitation, you just follow his lead, diving headfirst into the moment with a reckless abandon, thinking, ‘I’m all in, no matter what crazy idea you’ve got up your sleeve, baby boy.’
He cups your hand in his, his palm firm and reassuring, as he guides you through the throngs of people toward a quieter bar setup located upstairs in the club. The touch makes your head spin, feeling the familiar sensation of heat pooling between your thighs, leaving your undies all moist. You’ve felt sparks like this before, but never quite so intensely, and certainly not so quickly with anyone else.
As you trail behind him, you can’t help but lightly graze the back of his hand, mapping the pathways of his veins with your fingertips. You love a baby face paired with strong arms—he’s exactly your kind of man.
“Maybe it’s better…” he begins once you reach the bar, but the music swells out of the blue, drowning out the remainder of his sentence.
You involuntarily scrunch up your nose and squint, struggling to concentrate and hear him over the blasting tunes. “Come again, sorry?”
Before you can react, he draws closer to you. His breath is warm and tickly against your ear, causing a tremor through your entire body. Not to mention his voice: husky and velvety, making your cunt pulsate for him already.
Damn, things are moving at lightning speed, and you’re struggling to keep pace.
As Evan gets nearer, you catch a subtle yet alluring whiff of cinnamon and cologne. But, actually, it’s the natural scent exuding from his body that has a chokehold over you. Those pheromones he unleashes are like full-blown intoxication, making you lightheaded, your pulse thudding.
You lean in to mimic his gesture and whisper to his ear, but you’re pleasantly surprised when he gently clasps your hand, signalling for you to hold on. As he removes his earplugs, he explains, “Sorry I’ve got very sensitive ears.”
You chuckle, a wicked spark in your eye as you lift a tuft of hair to reveal your own ear protectors. “Great minds think alike,” you cheer.
“No, you didn’t,” he exclaims, eyes widened as you burst out laughing in sync.
As your laughter subsides, Evan’s expression shifts. His eyes bore into yours with a smouldering intensity as if he’s on the verge of revealing a long-held secret or daring to make a move.
But before you can form coherent thoughts or pluck up the courage to speak, Evan blinks fast, breaking the spell. “Shall we get those drinks at last? What’d you like?”
You clear your throat, trying to snap out of your nasty thoughts with Evan being the main character. “I’m down for another Corona, thanks.”
He flashes a quick two-finger salute to the bartender before turning back to you, his lips curving up in a cute, crooked smile. “So, who are you here with tonight?”
“Just some friends,” you confess, your voice trailing off as he raises his bottle to clink it against yours in a toast. His eyes remain glued on yours as he takes a sip, his defined jawline and slender neck at full display begging for your kisses. The intensity of his gaze makes your legs all wobbly. “A-and yourself?” you stammer, breaking eye contact to nervously trace a circular pattern on the rim of the bottle glass with your fingers.
“Same, I came to visit friends during my break. I’m flying back to Vancouver in ten days to carry on filming Tron.”
Your grip tightens around the cool glass of your drink as Evan drops the bombshell. You feel the liquid catch in your throat as you choke, a sudden surge of panic hitting your chest. You cough, the sound harsh and uncontrolled, your body reacting instinctively to the news.
“Canada?” you manage to croak out between coughs, your voice hoarse. You struggle to swallow past the lump, your throat raw and constricted. Your chest heaves as you fight to regain control.
“Y/N, are you okay?” he asks with a sense of urgency, his forehead creased with deep lines of worry. Leaning in, his eyes search yours for any sign of distress. His hand reaches out to steady you, giving you comforting back rubs.
You nod weakly, your eyes watering from the effort of suppressing another coughing fit.
“Let me fetch some water for you,” he offers, his voice soft and soothing. He sprints to the bar, returning seconds later with a glass of water and a concerned frown etched on his forehead.
“Thanks,” you mumble, accepting the glass with a trembling hand, keeping the bottle of beer in your other hand. The cool water soothes your parched throat, and you feel a sense of relief wash over you as Evan tenderly ruffles your hair and massages your scalp to calm you down. Hint: his hands on you work wonders.
“I’m okay,” you assure him, looking up to meet his gaze again, your heart hammering. Everything else fades away, leaving only the reassuring presence of Evan before you.
You can practically sense the sexual tension between you. His stare flickers between your lips and eyes, his own mouth slightly parted. It’s like a silent invitation that hangs between you like a charged wire ready to ignite, daring you to take a plunge and smother his face with kisses. And then suck his dick so hard that his stomach caves in like a Caprisun.
It doesn’t matter that you’ve just met; he has you at hello and you’d spread your legs for this man without a second thought…
You gulp as you realise he’s almost inches away from you. You shudder when his fresh breath—an irresistible blend of mint and alcohol—wafts into my mouth, blowing stray strands of hair off your face. “You’re leaving in ten days?” you sigh, puckering your lips and giving him a puppy-eyed look.
“Yes, but I’m still here,” he whispers, his eyes fixed on your lips as he leans into your stool. With a single knee, he slowly splits your legs and slides in between them.
“You’re here now. Wanna be at my place next?” you suggest, and he stares back at your eyes with a crooked smirk, his lips curled mischievously.
Without warning, his lips brushed against yours, throwing your arousal off the chart. The torturously slow pace that his lips slide along yours makes your sex leap, pop, and drip. Soft moans escape your bodies as he grabs your ass to pull you in, squeezing it along the way as his chest cushions firmly against your breasts.
He smiles against your lips as you tangle your fingers in his hair and part your mouth, giving him the green light to roughen the kiss. His hard rock boner already presses against your wet centre when his tongue invades your mouth with primitive force, swirling and twirling with yours in a passionate dance.
“How long to get to yours?” he grunts out of breath, wincing from the uncomfortable angle his stiff cock has now taken in his trousers.
“It’s roughly a ten-minute ride, give or take,” you pant, adjusting the hem of your dress.
“Off we go.”

Just There [Colin Zabel]
Tumblr media
Fluff / drabble
You were standing outside of the police station, waiting for Colin, when Mare comes out and quickly raises her own concern for you.
First Colin fic please be nice to me, this probably won't sound too great </3
No one's perspective.
⊹˚.⋆ ₊꒷ᘏᘏ︶ଓ︶꒷꒦⊹˚ᗢ₊꒷︶ଓ︶꒷
A warm coffee in their hands, and wind blowing past. "...hey." They piped up when they heard Mare's voice. She still looked as frazzled as ever, with tired eyes, messy hair, and a thick jacket over her. Still holding that goddamn vape as usual.
"oh, hi Mare. Um, is Colin leaving work soon?"
"..yeah, he's stressed. I think. Kinda can't figure out this case we're doing." She sighed and gripped her vape, ready to potentially use it. They nodded understandingly but sighed again, and took a warming sip of their coffee. "Just go home and stay there until he comes home, seriously."
They shook their head firmly. "I'd rather be here and make sure he's alright now." A concerned feeling fell over their furrowed brows. Shivering in the cold spring, wearing a small coat, and thin jeans. Underestimating the weather yet again.
"That's your choice." And Mare went on her way. Turning on her car and driving away.
Only a few minutes went by before the door opened, and they turned on their heel, smiling at the man walking past. He didn't even recognise his significant other until he did a double take. An instant smile and they were wrapped in his arms, body heat warming them. Gloved hands holding their freezing face. It could've caused a blush due to how warm Colin felt from being inside all day. Kiss after kiss after kiss. "Suprise." They chuckled, resting a free hand on his chest.
"Definitely a surprise. Welcome one though." Rubbing their arms, he smiled widely and kept soft eye contact. "Let's get home okay? You gotta be freezing." A nod and his hand placed on their back as a quick walk to the car ensued. A small blast of wind made them both shiver, now sitting in the car just as rushed as the wind.
The car got turned on quick and the tiny radiator on as rapidly. "Ready?"
"Always." He grinned towards them. "How long have you been waiting out here for me?"
"ehhh, not long."
"how long?" The car started, and they drove to Zabel's place. His voice was a bit sterner, and staring over at them. A click of their tongue a chuckle.
"about like an hour and a half."
"of course you were." Zabel chuckled, rubbing their shoulder a bit as trees and roads zipped past them.
Comfortable silence until they got to Zabel's place. Sighs and slow movements while they got comfortable in each other's arms on the couch. Crackles and pops of the tiny fire. Sleepy stares at the flaming blends of red, orange and yellow. No words spoke, but so many thoughts were expressed. The room lull was added by soft kisses, one after the other.
Staying by each other's side, never leaving. Finding comfort in a room if the other was just standing there, minding their business.
"Love you.." sleepily mumbled, nuzzling into their neck.
"I love you more Colin." Whispered back, leaning against him. Falling asleep to the peaceful quiet of a fire and kisses.

The moment I took you in the station (Colin zabel x fem reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: you are a petty criminal but Colin couldn’t help but fall for you
Warnings: shoplifting, running from cops, getting arrested, caring for sibling, financial problems let me know if I missed anything
Word count: 1,7k
A/n: I just had this idea a few months ago and just finished writing it since I forgot all about it should I do a part two?
•¤❅¤•.•°˚˚°•..•°˚˚°•.•¤❅¤•.•¤❅¤•.•°˚˚°•.
You ran as far as your legs could take you constantly looking behind you as the detective chased after. You cursed yourself for getting caught but all you could do is run and hope you the best. You gotten caught shoplifting from some fancy store in the mall and you didn't realise that there was an actual detective in the store as you sprinted as far as you could.
You could hear him yelling at you to stop but you never till you looked back and suddenly tripped over your own feet. "Fuck" you hissed clutching on to your ripped Jean covered knee. Trying to get back up till you felt a hand on your arm pulling you back. You got caught handcuffs on your wrists "your under arrest ma'am" he said "oh come on man" you sighed as their partner you presumed pulled up beside you both guiding you into the car and off to the station.
In the station you sat in the dim room waiting on getting questioned. Tapping your fingernails on the table humming a random song that came to mind to pass time. It felt like a century by the time the very detective that took you in came into the interrogation room.
This time he came in with a woman you knew as mare. She looked at you disappointed knowing this wasn't the first time you were in trouble. "Oh come on y/n really" mare scolded she known you since you were little and known you got yourself into petty crimes such as shoplifting or fights.
"I had to mare my sister wanted that bag for school and I can't afford it" you sighed rubbing your temples. "I know times are rough i get that I really do but stealing getting your own self into trouble isn't worth it y/n" mare said you knew she was right how could she not be.
The guy detective who's name you still haven't learnt stared at you. You didn't know why but you didn't mind either. He was extremely attractive. "I'm going to help you out here If I let you go I need you to promise me that you will get a job and stay out of trouble".
"How can I get a job mare I have previous for theft and I have to look after my sister I wouldn't be able to find a good job" you sighed massaging your temples.
You were stuck you only could afford rent since you lived at your uncles place so he lets you off with payments or just doesn't charge at all. But you struggled to even keep up with other bills and put food on the table.
"I can find a course for you to do to help you find a job that helps pay bills, put food on the table and put clothes on your back y/n me and detective zable are here to help you" mare smiled sympathetically. "I don't want to just be a charity case for you all I don't want your pity" you spat, you didn't mean to but your pride got the better of you.
"But it's either that or jail time what do you prefer" the male detective spoke up who's name you learned to be detective zable. You knew he was right you couldn't get into trouble again not with having your sister. "Fine I'll do it" you sighed.
A few months later you were doing great the little course went well and you managed to get a decent job to pay bills and put food on the table. You were walking back home with bags of groceries they felt heavy like they were going to burst open at any moment. You heard a car horn beep making you jump out of your skin.
"Jesus Colin you almost gave me a heart attack" you gasped seeing detective zable in his car. After that day in the station you would see mare and Colin out and about you would talk to them. You couldn't lie you began developing a crush on the new cop in town.
"Need a lift?" He asked noticing your struggle with the bags.
"No no Colin I'm fine honestly don't want to put you into any trouble" you dismissed politely. "No trouble at all honestly" he said you finally agreed to his offer. Colin got out of his vehicle to help you load the bags into his truck. You made your way into the passenger side of the car colin getting in at the other side. Colin new the address after dropping you off there when you had gotten took to the station he dropped you off.
"Thanks again colin you really didn't need to" you smiled the soft sound of the radio played. Colin shook his head "it's no problem honestly I was going past your place anyway to get back to the station" his eyes were still focused on the road but he looked nervous like he wanted to ask you something.
"You okay?" You asked noticing his nervous demeanour, "yeah I'm alright just-" Colin stoped himself mid sentence you furrowed your eyebrows in response. "Come on Colin you can tell me what's wrong" you said with a smile. A sigh left Colin's lips contemplating on if he should say anything or not. "Well I was thinking maybe if you want to, would you like to have dinner with me?" He asked.
You could hear the nervousness mixed with hope in his voice but also in his eyes even though they were fixated on the road. You were shocked to say the least, never did you expect Colin a cop to be interested in a petty criminal like you. Swallowing a lump in your throat, mind racing, palms feeling sweaty rubbing them on your jeans.
“Look forget what I said I didn’t mean to step out of line” Colin sighed feeling a little down at your lack of response. “I’d love to go for dinner with you Colin” you finally answered. “You don’t need to if you don’t want to, I understand that you don’t want to it was dumb of me to think otherwise” Colin’s voice was more meek and hinted with sorrow. “No Colin I really do it’s just- why would you want to go to dinner with me out of all people I mean I had my fair share of run ins with the law you don’t want that” you were now the one to sigh.
You hadn’t realised that you were both now parked outside your home. Colin turned the engine off his car finally looking your in the eye. “I don’t care that you been in trouble before, I get why you did it but I really do like you y/n ever since I took you to the station that day” Colin told you. You felt the blush raising in your cheeks from Colin’s words and the fact that you were arrested.
“When you taking me out?” You asked with a grin seeing your little sister walking along the sidewalk returning from school. “Are you free next Saturday it’s my day off” Colin asked you thought if you had anything “I’m free Saturday my sister will probably be staying with her friend so I should be free” you smiled. Colin nodded pulling out his cellphone “can I have you number you know so I can give you more details and stuff” he says like a teenager his cheeks redden by the second.
You nodded giving him your phone number before getting out the car. “I’ll text you” Colin calls out from the open window on the passenger side. You nodded waving him goodbye, your sister by your side standing there in confusion. She looks at you with the usual look she gave you when you used to get out of police cars. “What have you done this time y/n” she sighs you let out a giggle shaking you head.
“Don’t worry I’m not in trouble Amy, in fact quite the opposite I have a date” you grin like a kid in a candy store. You both walk into your home locking the door. “A date? With who?” She asked throwing her bag on the sofa. “You know that new detective” you say Amy nodded her head “no way y/n, your going on a date with the new detective me and my friends find him so hot” she gasped.
“Well he’s a too old for you missy and yeah he asked me in the car offered me a ride home” you blushed setting yourself on the sofa. “Anyway have you got homework?” You asked Amy nodded her head “yeah” she sighs knowing what you will say next “go get it done” you instructed. Amy huffed going to get her bag to do her homework.
An hour or two later your phone pinged. Checking your messages seeing a new number texting you.
‘Hey it’s Colin just messaging you so you now have my number 😊’ the text read out. You smiled at the text immediately texting a reply ‘hi Colin yeah that’s fine I’ll save your number😊’ you texted back, “it’s that detective sable” Amy teased looking up from her notepad. “Maybe” you sang another ping on your phone.
‘How’s next Saturday at 7pm for dinner there’s this nice restaurant in town it looks really promising’
‘Yeah sounds great’
“Oh my god your like the girls in school” your sister teased you but you didn’t even say anything too busy texting. “What are you doing next Saturday?” You asked your sister “I’m staying at my friends place” she replied “okay Colin’s taking me to this nice restaurant near outside of town” you say “oh I heard about that place it’s really fancy” Amy said.
You spent the rest of the night helping Amy with her homework and texting Colin. You couldn’t deny that you were attracted to Colin for a little while but never did you expect that he would feel the same for you. You were nervous it had been a good while since you dated anyone since your main focus was looking after your sister.

【𝜗𝜚 an; THANK YOU FOR MY FIRST REQUEST FOR PRETTY BOY KIT!!!! very much appreciated <3. i hope you enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Thank God for Sunday’s.
Especially when it was Kit’s night off and the both of you just lounged around in comfortable clothing after dinner.
The silk nightgown you had on was a a pink one, with white lace trimmings. It was comfortable, smooth against your skin and Kit’s fingertips.
Kit had been using your almond oil and shea butter body wash and lotion - again.
You didn’t complain though, it left his pale skin soft under your fingertips that you traced up and down his arm.
He giggles, goosebumps raising along with his shoulder, his eyelashes tickling the skin of your cheek as he closes them.
“That tickles, doll.” He whispers. Your shoulder lifts, his own breath tickling across your skin this time.
“Sorry.” You giggle.
He scrunches his nose, shaking his head. You tune your head to look at him.
Being this close you could see the freckle on his nose and some that was dotted across and trailed down to both cheeks.
His face always warmed your heart, and then you cursed him for being so pretty. It was insane just how pretty.
Your nails, that had a clear coat of polish paint, trails up his arm and to his hair that had some sort of curl to it.
He hums a bit, feeling your nails, tilting his head back as if he were a dog. You smile, nose scrunching a bit as you watch him.
“What are ya starin’ at?” He whispers.
“Nothin’,” You whisper back, pressing a kiss to his chin. A small smile grows on his face, his dimple showing. You press another kiss there. “Just thinkin’ about how pretty you are.”
“Me?” He lifts a brow, opening one eye and peeking down at you.
“You.” Your thumb wipes the gloss from his chin. He nips at your finger and you giggle, pulling your hand away quickly and hide it behind your back.
“Well, I think you’re wayyyy prettier,” He whispers. You go to protest but he’s quick to speak over you. “And smell good. That’s why I use your body wash all the time, it’s like you’re lingerin’ ‘round.”
His accent had gotten deeper, richer. He’s tired.
You roll your eyes, shaking your head. “Admit it, your manly wash gives you a headache.”
“Sometimes,” He grins, his nose now poking under your jaw. You let out a laugh, leg lifting now and leaning against his side. He lets out a huff. “See, you still smell good!”
“Kit.” You giggle, feeling him press a kiss to your cheek now.
“Yes, almond?”
You scrunch your nose. “Go back to Doll, please.”
He grins, giving you a small peck. “Okay, doll.” He whispers.
You smile, holding his face in your hands, tracing your thumbs across the smoothness of his cheeks. “Thank you.”
For loving me.
He presses his forehead to yours, nodding. “Of course.”
I’ll always love you.
