The 16th of February 1746 in what became known as the Rout of Moy,  Government forces under Lord Louden attempt to capture Prince Charles Edward Stewart at Moy Hall.
Around midnight on 16th/17th February 1746, Lord Loudon, the Commander of the Hanoverian forces in the north, mustered 1500 troops from the Inverness Garrison and set off on the twelve mile march south along General Wade’s Road to Moy in a bid to capture Prince Charles Edward Stuart. The prince, a guest of Lady Anne Mackintosh (Colonel Anne) at Moy Hall, had arrived with a small guard of 50 men, some distance ahead of his retreating Highland Army.
Pitch darkness interspersed with flashing lightning slowed and unsettled the marching men.
Watching the road here, 3 miles from Moy Hall, was an ‘outer guard’ of just five Jacobites led by Donald Fraser, the Moy Blacksmith. He had chosen a spot where he could observe movement on the skyline to the north in darkness, and where he had cover to the south in daylight. Nearby to the east, peat stacks remained out on the moor. Here he planned to harass, and perhaps deceive, the enemy.
As the Hanoverian Column, spearheaded by the Laird of MacLeod and his men approached in the darkness, they were surprised by sudden musket fire and loud war cries urging clansmen to battle. Even the peat stacks threatened in the flashing lightning. Convinced that the whole Highland Army was at hand, Loudon’s men turned in panic and fled back to Inverness, somehow carrying off the body of Donald Ban MacCrimmon, Piper to MacLead and the only fatality of the night. A premonition of his imminent death had been realised.
This skirmish took place two months prior to the Battle of Culloden. Donald Fraser died in 1804 and lies buried in Moy Churchyard.
The above information is displayed at the Cairn.
On the cold, dull but dry afternoon of Saturday l6th April, a sizeable crowd of over 200 people attended the unveiling of a new cairn making the site of the skirmish known as “The Rout of Moy”.
This event was organised mainly by Donald MacAskill of Tomatin, James Ingram of Aberdeen, and James and Elma Singer of Ellon, with valuable assistance from Brian Duff of Forest Enterprise. Building work was carried out by Murdo MacAskill, Fred Jamison and Willie MacAskill, all of Inverness.
The unveiling ceremony was preceded by a stirring demonstration of drumming skills by the Clann an Drumma (4 drummers and a piper) from Glasgow.
During the ceremony wreaths were laid in memory of Donald Ban MacCrimmon, and a one minute silence was observed.
After the ceremony Donald MacAskill thanked the following people for their participation:-
HRH Prince Michael of Albany for unveiling the cairn. Dr Seamus H Grant of Rothiernurchus for his address in Gaelic. Hector MacKenzie of Skye for his prayers. Judith Dyson of Kingussie for playing the lament. Kenneth Borthwick of Dundee for the musket salute.
Afterwards an appreciative large crowd enjoyed the hospitality of the Coleman family at the Tomatin Inn who provided welcoming plates of soup and stovies. Music was provided by Clann an Drumma, Judith Dyson, James Home, Fred Jamison and Andy Shaw. It was a most enjoyable day which will long be remembered by those present.

Open with a man writing a letter to Jefferson Davis about the casualties his troops are suffering, and the further trouble ahead for them with advancing Union troops. Turns out the man is Robert E. Lee and this is the Civil War.
We see shots of people around this camp, many dead, dying or severely wounded. In a house used as a make-shift hospital, it is more the same, the horrors of war. A man is trying to convince Lee that they need to retreat, but Lee won't hear of it. Then a strange man approaches and tells them they will be safe if they stay. Lee seems to know this man, and while he is apprehensive, he listens. The man, Mr. Rook, asks if has ever been wrong before?
More shots of wounded and dying, then Rook stealing from a dead soldier. We meet a wounded soldier, Zack, is being tended to by his wife Abigail. Rook arrives saying he is the doctor and sends Abby for supplies. He takes the flask that stopped the bullet from killing Zack, then twists his neck and runs off. He is shot at and chased but vanishes into a square of light.
Rook then appears and runs out of a Civil War slide photo projected on a wall. He dumps out his bag of all the items he stole from the past and calls Edward, telling him he got a shipment of pristine antiques.
Cut to the auction, and Jack is admiring the flask with the bullet hole, while Micki and Ryan scan the crowd for Rook. Jack calls Rook a picker, like himself, who find items to sell. Jack thinks Rook would have sold the magic lantern from Curious Goods.
Rook is admiring an antique slide, but the owner says its not for sale. The man says Rook should make $100,000 at least, tonight. Micki spots him and wonders if Rook is aware of the curse. The auction begins, the flask the first item. Ryan chats up Rook's date. The flask sells for $15,000.
Rook asks Edward, the auctioneer, what Lee's broken sword would get. Edward says about a half million. Jack appears and Rook recognizes him. Jack compliments his good fortune and tells him he took over Louis' store, mentioning that he knows Rook was a customer. Rook and his date leave, Ryan relates that the woman said Rook has been in town for weeks, but Micki is confused. He never answers his phone. Ryan goes to follow Rook.
Rook and his date, Lydia, head to his place. Ryan watches. Having a drink, she is surprised by Rook in his old-time outfit. He says it is for a history lesson. He shows her the lantern, lights it, and tells her it lasts three hours and lets him go anywhere. The slide he puts in is from 1862, and says 22,000 men died, leaving a fortune in antiques. He creeps Lydia out, then snaps her neck so the cursed item will work. Outside, Ryan sees Rook dump her body in the trash. Back in the apartment, Rook prepares to enter the slide when Ryan jumps him, and they are both transported to 1862. They struggle, Ryan falls and Rook takes off. Ryan is shocked by the sound of gunfire, then knocked out by Rook.
At the store, Micki and Jack are frustrated reading on the lantern and worried about Ryan. Micki speculates on how Rook specializes in one specific year and battle. Jack guesses how the curse works and they rush off.
Ryan wakes in a bed, bandaged. Abby and her father saved him, but when Ryan says he is from Chicago, the old man grabs his rifle. Abby stops him, and they question Ryan, who says he's looking for Rook and they think Ryan is a bounty hunter. They wonder if he can help them find the man who killed Zack, unaware Rook is that man. Ryan clues them in. Ryan says he has to see Lee.
Abby gives Ryan some appropriate clothes that were her late husband's. Abby also gives Ryan Zack's gun, hoping he can kill Rook with it.
At Rook's apartment, the cops are swarming because of Lydia's found body, and one stops Jack and Micki, asking if they live in the building, Jack says yes, calling himself Rook, and Micki his daughter. The cop asks if they recognize Lydia, they say no. They enter the apartment and find the lantern in use. Jack stops Micki from interrupting the lantern, and they look at the picture on the wall. Jack finds blood on the floor, then tries to figure out the lantern.
In 1862, Abby's dad catches Rook with his rifle and leads him off.
Micki finds a book Rook was reading to learn about the past. Jack says the lantern will burn for awhile, and tells Micki it might be Ryan's only way back if he did end up in the past.
Rook tells the old man he has plans for Lee, then tricks him and kills him. Ryan watches and shoots but Rook escapes back to the present and blows out the lantern, trapping Ryan. Ryan tries to rouse the old man, but soldiers spot him and chase and shoot after him. Ryan hides in a tree.
At Curious Goods, Jack and Micki do research on that specific date. Micki wonders if Rook kills to go forward in time, too. Jack thinks so. Then Micki finds Ryan in photo from 1862 with Lee. Jack tries to explain how Ryan could have died in the past to a confused Micki.
Ryan listens as Lee continues to disregard his aide in favor of waiting on Rook and the promised plans from the Union side.
The cop knocks on Rook's door and wants a statement about Lydia's body. The cop doesn't seem to remember Jack pretending to be Rook, but asks for ID. Rook overpowers him, strangles him and kills him. But the slide is broken in the struggle.
A soldier show's Abby her father's body and the description of his supposed killer shocks Abby. She rushes off to find Ryan first.
Rook calls Edward, saying he can still get the sword if the man can get the money.
Ryan startles Abigail, and says Rook killed her father. She grabs the rifle, unsure. Ryan tries to come clean and explain that he is from the future. He shows her items from his wallet. She is confused.
Jack and Micki drive back to Rook's and see him leaving. They follow.
Abby is having a hard time believing Ryan, who tries to convince her that her family didn't die in vain. He says he needs to stop Rook from getting Lee's sword. His plan is for her to turn him in to Lee.
Edward can't get the money at night, but Rook says he can take antiques instead, and tells the man to get the other slide from 1862. When Edward does, Rook puts it in the projector, then kills the old man. Before he can step into the past, Micki tackles him and they both vanish. Jack is too late and remains in the present.
Rook punches Micki and takes off. A photographer wants a photo of Lee and his aides. He takes one and wants another as Abby leads Ryan at gunpoint to Lee, who asks why she think he's a spy. As Lee, his men and Ryan enter the building, the photographer snaps a photo. The one Micki saw in the book.
Micki wanders, looking for Ryan and finds a stray horse. Jack checks on the flame, which is still burning.
Lee questions Ryan about Union plans, but Ryan has a hard time remembering his history. Rook appears and gives Lee the plans he promised. Ryan tries to dissuade Lee, but he has Ryan taken away. Abigail sees Ryan hauled off and Rook leave with Lee's sword. She follows.
Micki races to camp on horseback and rushes up and rescues Ryan.
Abby shoots toward Rook, who tries to stop her, then grabs the gun that goes off and shoots Abigail. Ryan hits Rook, then rushes to Abby who dies. Ryan wants to kill him, but Micki stops him. She tells him they have to run to the square of light to get back, which appeared when Abby died. They rush off with Rook chasing them. Ryan and Micki leap through into the present, with Rook following and shooting. Jack does the only thing he can and blows out the lantern. Rook is caught in the wall, dead.
Later, Ryan is amazed to see his photo in the Civil War history book. Ryan wonders if anything Rook or he did in the past changed things. Jack says maybe the past happened as it was supposed to. Micki thinks Lee's sword should be worth something. Jack says maybe a couple of bucks, cause everyone knows Lee broke his sword. This one would be seen as a fake.
My thoughts:
I've always like this episode. I think they handled the scenes in 1862 very well, doing their best in their budget to make you feel like you've gone back in time.
Also like the cursed item. Quite a potential with this one, imagine going anywhere in time as long as you had a slide for the projector?
Rook could have been a little more subtle in his actions. He kills Zack in the midst of people, kills Lydia and dumps her right outside his building. Playing with fire, this guy.
Ryan wonders if they affected the past. Well, who knows what was changed with Zack, Abby and her father being killed. Maybe they would have changed history, or one of their descendants could have? But as Jack speculates, maybe history played out just as it was supposed to.
Loved Micki riding in on horseback to save Ryan. She has come a long way from the beginning. Also loved Jack not just grabbing the latern, realizing they needed to proceed cautiously to make sure Ryan could get back.
The cop investigating Lydia's death was not great, and in fact reminded me of the cop from Badge of Honor.
Also, what the heck did the landlord and cops think when they found Rook stuck INSIDE the wall? Good thing Jack didn't give them his real name.
And very cool to have a photo of Ryan from 1862!

Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Word for World is Forest (1972) is an interesting and compelling book that discusses heavy themes surrounding colonialism, invasion and exploitation. As MacLeod puts it, ‘The Word for World is Forest is a reflection […] on the necessity and cost of resistance’ (2015: 1).
Le Guin wrote this book during the time of the Vietnam War, which is heavily referenced throughout through the character Colonel Dongh, who enables and supports the enslavement of the Ashtheans (Watson 1975: 231). Dongh is a character who, like many other humans (‘yumens’, as the Ashtheans call them), are cruel and oppress the native Ashtheans on New Tahiti. Ashtheans are subjected to heavy colonisation and the abusive effects of it, such as forced labour, rape, and genocide (Debita 2019: 51). Indeed, despite Le Guin using the peace movements she was involved in as her outlet to keep her political views and her writing separate, I believe that Le Guin’s political stance is clear through her use of her characters in the book. (Savi 2021: 536, quoted in Burns 2010).
Through the atrocities that occurred during the Vietnam War, Le Guin states in her Author’s Introduction of The Word for World is Forest that ‘[she] never wrote a story more easily, fluently, surely - and with less pleasure.’ Le Guin was opposed to the idea of atomic bomb testing, and the war in Vietnam in general, and would often feel ‘useless, foolish, and obstinate’ (Le Guin, 1972) because of the higher authority destroying the lands and forests; killing other men in the name of peace. It is through this heavy opposition to this unethical method of achieving such an agenda that she created The Word for World is Forest. Le Guin ‘responds to the dehumanizing nature of war that made possible Viet Nam era atrocities’ (Savi 2021: 536, quoted in Lindlow 2012), and this is certainly evident in how the character Don Davidson treats the “creechies”, which he derogatorily calls the Ashtheans.
Le Guin also mentions in her Author’s Introduction that her unconscious mind created a pure evil character - Davidson - despite her knowing very well that purely evil people do not exist (Le Guin 1972). Unlike Raj Lyubov, a character that studies the Ashtheans and tries to understand their lifestyle and their culture, Davidson fails to understand Ashthean ways of living - during his conversation with Oknanawi in Chapter 1, he states that hitting a creechie is “like hitting a robot for all they feel it”, and they’re “dumb, […] treacherous, and they don’t feel pain.” Furthermore, Lyubov mentions Davidson’s sexual intercourse with a creechie, who was Selver’s wife, Thele. This sexual assault is what lead to her death, and what was the driving force for Selver to attack Davidson in Chapter 1.
However, it is Selver’s character (and the Ashtheans’ dreaming culture as a whole) that led my practical response to this book. As Savi states, ‘Ashtheans are experienced day-dreamers’ (2021: 544), and I created my etchings through the link between the Ashtheans’ connection to their forest and the practice of Buddhism. Looking at Indian, Japanese and Tibetan Buddhist art, I drew upon the beautiful and calming sceneries of mountains, glistening rivers, and lotus flowers blooming in the water. Nature was the key to ‘attain enlightenment’, and was considered the ‘Pure Land’ (Bloom 1972: 117). Buddhism, which is still widely practised, enables people to have a sense of belonging in nature, to be one with the leaves and the sky, and the flowing rivers (Kala 2017: 24). I made a link between Buddhists aiming to reach Nirvana, and the Ashtheans using the concept of dreaming to gain answers from their gods.
My etching consists of a pair of hands holding a bloomed lotus flower, which has a heart-shaped vine growing out of it, adorned with depictions of the various natural imagery we used to live in before our Modern Age. I wanted to represent humankind’s appreciation for nature, and how we should still be one with nature, and hold it in high regard, despite our destroying of trees and natural resources to aid and sustain human life. Reading about the humans’ destroying of New Tahiti to help an already-destroyed Earth in The Word for World is Forest, I felt an overwhelming urge to create a positive and peaceful outcome in response.
However, although I wanted to have a positive outlook on my practical response and the book as a whole, one cannot ignore the negative and depressing ending of the book. Although the Ashtheans were able to obtain their land back from the humans, they have been introduced to murder, despite them being harmless and nonviolent species before. Their old way of life is no more, and the world they used to live in will never be the same again. The strong reference to real life ecological issues is evident here - people’s greed and selfishness have destroyed the planet, both physically and spiritually. People are out of balance between their status as humans and the nature around them (Hurby 2017, quoted Farong 2017). It raises many questions about how humanity stands: will our world ever be the same even if we are able to save our forests and planet? Will we ever be the same if we regain our spiritual connection to our natural environments? For me, I will always ask the question: will Mother Nature ever forgive us for ruining Her planet?

American Loyalists at the battle of Moore’s Creek, February 27, 1776. Scots living in the Thirteen Colonies tended to side with the Crown during the American Revolution. Scots, especially highlanders, constituted the majority of the Loyalist force that assembled in North Carolina to resist the revolutionaries in 1776.
In the pre-dawn mist, a company of Scots approached Moore’s Creek bridge. In response to a call for identification shouted across the creek, Captain Alexander Mclean identified himself as a friend of the King, and responded with his own challenge in Gaelic. Hearing no answer, he ordered his company to open fire, beginning an exchange of gunfire with revolutionary sentries. Colonel MacLeod and Captain John Campbell then led a picked company of swordsmen on a charge across the bridge. Armed mostly with broadswords, they were cut down by musketry and artillery.

April 27th 1650 saw The Battle of Carbisdale. where The Great Montrose fought his last fight.
Montrose was surprised on level ground, near a pass called Invercharron (Invercharron Hill ), on Saturday, 27th April 1650. With his men they tried to reach a wooded, craggy hill in his rear but was overtaken and defeated by Lt-Col. Strachan. "The ground where the battle was fought … took its present name, Craigcaoineadhan, which may be translated the Rock of Lamentation. This site has now been added to the Inventory of Historic Battlefields but there is no memorial on the site.
A wee bit background; Between 1639 and 1653, Scotland was involved in the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, a series of wars starting with the Bishops Wars (between Scotland and England), the Irish Rebellion of 1641, the English Civil War (and its extension in Scotland), the Irish Confederate Wars, and finally the subjugation of Ireland and Scotland by the English Roundhead New Model Army.
In 1650 he, to all intents sacrificed Montrose , one of the best generals in the royalist cause, sending him on a doomed mission to Scotland. Charles risked little other than minor damage to his reputation, as he was talking with the Covenanter government of Scotland. The force under Montrose was around 500 Danish mercenaries and 40 or so loyal if now desperate royalist gentlemen soldiers.
Had Graham miraculously won through and got a foothold or even sparked an uprising and taken Scotland Charles gained enormously; otherwise the cavalier cause was down a few brave men and one great general.
Montrose sailed from Bergen to Orkney , where he gathered a further 750 to 1,000 mercenaries to his colours, landing his augmented force at John O’Groats via Orkney on April 12th.
The Marquis, after initial progress south had to edge back to the Kyle of Sutherland, where a small Scottish government force under Colonel Archibald Strachan tracked him down. Strachan lulled Montrose into inaction, tricking him into believing the chasing force was insignificant. Then Strachan attacked.
Archibald in fact had fewer than 250 cavalry, and only 36 musketeers; plus around 400 Highlanders on whom little reliance could be placed. Caught unawares though, Montrose’s troops were panicked, the Danes proving less than valorous. A rout followed the first charge, and just 100 of Montrose’s men survived the slaughter. The Marquess himself though badly wounded escaped.
After wandering in the hills with the hue and cry out against him, so hungry that he was reduced to eating his gloves, he took refuge at Ardvreck Castle with Neil MacLeod of Assynt, but there was a substantial reward to be earned for him and Macleod surrendered him to the authorities. Macleod got his money and his name has stunk in Scottish nostrils ever since.
He was paraded from northern Scotland to Edinburgh with his crimes advertised and his name degraded.  Graham  was outlawed, excommunicated, and attained for the crime of treason in 1644. Thus, the process of his legal death began years before he was finally captured and publically executed in Edinburgh in 1650, this basically meant he got no trial, he merely appeared before the court and the formal sentence of death was handed down on May 20th
His humiliation didn’t stop at his death, the punishment for treason extended beyond the extinction of life as the corpses of traitors were used to send out stark and richly symbolic messages. In Montrose’s case, his head was spiked on top of Edinburgh’s Old Tolbooth and his limbs were displayed in four of Scotland’s main towns.
I shall cover this in more depth on May 21st.

Too young too dumb to know things like love
Tumblr media
Summary: I fell from a rift of reality. No memory of what my life was before. The only thing I seem to remember was my name. Now I live with the Winchester, Jack and Castiel. Along with training both Jack and I to become hunter I help Jack control his powers.
I sat next to Sam watching him dig up anything on Alexander to see if he really is who he says he is. For what I saw he was. “So. I’ve dug up a pretty hefty paper trail on Alexander Ketch. Birth certificate, U.S visa and passport, academic records from Kendricks for Arthur and Alexander.” Sam said. “Sam.” Dean said. “Dean I went into the hard drive I took from the Brits’ U.S. base. There are academic initiation paper drawn up for both Ketches with Alexander’s remaining incomplete.” Sam said. “Okay I don’t care how good this story looks. I ain’t buying it.” Dean said. “All right. For argument’s sake we know mom shot Arthur and we know we dumped his corpse into the waste canal. So even if this is weird yes it’s weird but we eat weird every day.” Sam said. “Yeah but there’s Ripley’s believe it or not weird and then there’s weird that’s just straight up bull. Now I’m thinking that Ketch weird is door number two.” Dean said. Sam closed his laptop letting out a sigh. “So does this mean someone is going to go talk to him?” I asked. “Well for one if anyone is going to talk to him it will be Sam or I okay. I don’t want you to go anywhere near him.” Dean said. “Why not dean if anyone has a chance at getting him to talk it’s going to be Y/n.” Sam said. “No she is not Sam. I’m not going let him anywhere near her.” Dean said. “Dean.” Sam said. “Sam stop it’s ok. It would be better if you or Dean talk to him. I mean you two do know the situation than I do.” I said. Sam was the one who went to go talk to Alexander. Dean got up from his seat where he was that was behind Sam and I taking Sam’s now empty seat. “You ok kiddo? He didn’t hurt you when he grabbed you earlier did he?” Dean asked. “No he didn’t.” I said. “I had to make sure.” Dean said. “I understand. Who’s Rowena?” I asked. “A friend I guess you can say. She was killed by Lucifer Jack’s father.” Dean said. “So the devil is Jack’s father?” I asked. “Yup.” Dean said. “Good to know and this is a normal thing for you and Sam?” I asked. “Pretty much you’ll get use to it.” Dean said. “I hope.” I said. “You will after you get use to it. You need abit of training in you. You’re so small I bet the wind can knock you down.” Dean said. “Oh haha.” I said. “Come on. You’re one of the tiniest things I’ve seen.” Dean said. “Well maybe you and Sam are just giants.” I said. “Very funny.” Dean said. “I try to be.” I said. “Have you ever shot a gun?” Dean asked. I shook my head. “Ok well that’s something that I will have to teach you.” Dean said. “You’ll probably have to teach me how to defend myself too.” I said. “Obviously don’t want you get hurt on our watch.” Dean said. “Yeah.” I said giving dean a small smile.
It was about twenty minutes later before Sam came back to join us and then a cell phone rang. Dean went to go answer it. “Hello? Yes this is Agent Russell. I did give you my card yeah. Really? What kind of questions? Okay and when was this? What did he look like? Yeah no we will check into it. Thank you very much.” Dean said as he wrote something down then hung up. “What was that all about?” Sam asked. “That was a manager at the Stampede Motel place we stayed in Dodge City.” Dean said. “Right.” Sam said. “Guess his front desk clerk went missing. Right after some dude showed up asking questions about Jack.” Dean said. “You get a name?” Sam asked. “Nope. But… from his description? Evil Colonel Sanders.” Dean said. I gave both he and Sam a confused look. “Asmodeus.” Dean said. “Tracking Jack.” Sam said. “Yeah which means he’s two steps behind him which means we need to find him fast.” Dean said. “I should say.” A voice said making me jump. I look to see Alexander eating a sandwitch. Then it was the most awkward silence I’ve ever seen. “What the hell is this?” Dean asked. “He’s in chains. There’s no bathroom in the armory. And he hadn’t eaten in like a day and a half.” Sam said. “Do I look like I care?” Dean said. I bite my lip to keep me from laughing. “Judging by your rage my brother must’ve behaved very badly. I understand your mother is the one who killed him?” Alexander asked. “And he had it coming after what he did to her.” Dean said. “Hmm. And how is she now?” Alexander asked. “She’s good. Would you put him back?” Dean said. Sam let out a sigh closing his laptop and getting up. As Dean called someone. “Cass any news on Jack? We need to find him fast. “ Dean said. I could hear somewhat of what Cass was saying but not all of it. “What? Cass?” Dean asked. Dean hung up the phone. “What’s up? Sam asked. “Something didn’t seem right.” Dean said. “I’ll track his phone. Let’s go.” Sam said. “Yes let’s.” Alexander said. “No. no you are not a part of let’s.” Dean said. “And she is?” Alexander asked. “Yes she is. y/n go get a jacket on and wait in the impala.” Dean said. I nodded getting up making my way to my room to grab a jacket then headed to the impala getting in the backseat waiting on Sam and Dean to come so we can go find Cass. They came to join me after getting Alexander getting squared away. Then the drive to where Cass was started. “Who’s Asmodeus?” I asked. “He’s one of the four horseman apocalypse and the new king of hell.” Dean said. “New king? What happened to the old king?” I asked. Sam and Dean gave each other a look. “Did I over step a bound?” I asked as I started to feel bad about asking that question. “No y/n you didn’t. He died. It’s kind of a long story.” Sam said. “Maybe you can tell me sometime. I said. “Get some rest kiddo we got a pretty long drive.” Dean said. I leaned up against the window and closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes again it was dark outside. I could hear the pinging coming from Sam’s phone. “Man I hate the idea of Ketch on his own in the bunker.” Dean said. “He’s lock up tight. Not going anywhere.” Sam said. “Yeah. How we looking? You still got a lock on Cass’s signal?” Dean asked. ”Sure do. I nailed down his location. He’s not much further so… Don’t worry. You did tell him not to do anything stupid.” Sam said as dean let out a laugh. “Right. When’s the last time that’s worked?” Dean said. We finally arrived at an empty bar. “Alright y/n why don’t you stay in the car incase this goes sideway.” Dean said. “Okay.” I said. “Here I just hope you don’t have to use it.” Sam said handing me a gun. I nodded and place the gun next to me. Sam and Dean both got out of the impala and made their way into the bar. I rolled down my window so I could at least what was going on. I soon hear screaming and gunshot coming inside the bar. Then I hear a motorcycle. The motorcycle parked next to the impala and I saw Alexander get off. “Pity that left you all alone.” “Alexander said as he opened the door and roughly grabbed me by the arm. I reached for the gun that Sam had given me but Alexander wrapped an arm around my waist pulling me away before I could. “Afraid not that seem like a dangerous for a little girl like you.” Alexander said dragging me towards the bar. “Let me go.” I said fighting against his grip. He threw me inside as he went to grab a blade that was on the ground and stabbed to lady that was attacking Sam. “Y/n?” Sam asked as he got up coming over to me to help me up from the ground. Then he looked to Alexander. “H-how did you get out of the armory? Y-y-you…chains.” Sam said. “Lock pick. If you’d done the prescribed cavity search as you should you’d have found it. I uh grabbed some weapons from your toy box and a motorcycle from you garage et voila. What’s become of angel?” Alexander said. Then I hear a gun cock and look to see Dean pointing a gun at Alexander. Sam grabbed my hand pulling me over to where Dean was. “Not sure. But I’m sure of you Arthur. You know I gotta hand it to you. That paper trail you cooked up pretty impressive. But my gut told me it was baloney. Looks like my gut was right. See I’ve been in it with you Arthur. I’ve seen your moves. We’ve gone toe to toe. And I saw that look in your eye when you asked about our mom. So why don’t you cut the crap?” Dean said. “Actually everything I told you is true. Well except for the un twin brother thing. I am separated from the British Men of Letters lying low because they will kill me for desertion. I make a rather good living as a sort of soldier of fortune deep underground for a certain sort of clientele who appreciate my skill set. And I do use the name Alexander.” Arthur said. “How is it you’re still alive?” Sam asked. “I believe you’re familiar with the witch Rowena MacLeod?” Arthur asked. “So?” Dean said. “She was capture by the British Men of Letters some years back. I discovered she’d sewn a powerful charm into her body that could bring her back should she be killed. I Struck a deal wherein she did the for me in return for allowing her to escape.” Arthur said. “So after we dumped you body you.” Sam said. “Good as new. Only problem is once the device is used it needs to be recharged.” Arthur said. “Which is why you’re hunting for Rowena. Well sorry Lucifer burned her up. She dead.” Dean said. “Is she?” Arthur said. “Why’d you come here? You could’ve run.” Dean said. “Did it ever occur to you Dean that I might actually be one of the good guys?” Arthur said. “No. Not even once.” Dean said. “You and I were soldiers in opposing armies who were at war.” Arthur said. “Well the thing about war is one side wins.” Dean said pointing the gun at Arthur again. “I suppose you’re right.” Arthur said throwing something down causing an explosion and the room started to fill with smoke. I started to cough as I heard a gunshot. Sam and Dean ran toward the door only to have them push against it till it finally open. I followed them outside where my legs gave out from under me. I looked to see Sam and Dean in the road. Dean still had his gun pointed towards where Arthur was driving off to. Sam looked back at me and rushed over to me. “Y/n are you okay?” Sam asked putting a hand on my arm where Arthur grabbed me. I flinched and moved away from Sam. “Did he hurt you?” Sam asked. I nodded. “Son of a bitch!” I heard Dean yell. “Come on.” Sam said helping me up. We got back the impala to go find where Cass was. Dean called Cass and waited for him to answer. “Cass? Hey. Are you okay? We- we-we tried to track you down but you were gone. We ran into a bunch of demons. What’s- what’s happening? Okay well what’s going on?” Dean asked then he hung up the phone. “Is Cass okay?” Sam asked. “He sounded fine to me.” Dean said. Then we made the drive back to the bunker.

Limping Along Together
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/2ZJO4bg

Tossing aside the ending of season 13 and making it a little darker, Sam and Dean have died, although Gabriel managed to survive. Leaving Castiel worried about the Empty coming for Jack, he seeks safety for them both in another reality. Despite having to say goodbye to all he knows, with the Winchester Brothers dead, it feels as though he already has.
Meanwhile, the Sam of that reality has long been retired from the hunting life. He still has visions, and receives a rather violent one of Castiel and Jack arriving in his world. Can he find them before danger does?
Basically, I took what I liked from season 14-15 and tossed out the rest. Also, there are so many cats, as well as a few dogs.

IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED says the person who deliberately didnt tag in order to provoke the question
This is Fort Macleod and here are some fun facts
- coconut designed him and he is a redhead
- he’s basically cal’s big bro - both were founded as NWMP forts in quick succession - FM was named for NWMP Colonel James Macleod who was also the dude who said “we are NOT calling it Fort Brisebois” and came up with Calgary’s current name
- by this logic they’d probably also consider other NWMP Forts (like Fort Saskatchewan) and co. as siblings/cousins. by that logic they’d also have quite a few ‘deceased’ sibs as well... but to be fair, they would have vanished pretty swiftly before they really made an impact on their memories...
- he and cal and probably other forts met up to talk strategy and play polo a lot as kids
- Even though it maybe makes more sense to call Fort Macleod Fort Mac, literally nobody calls it that. Don’t. That’s Weird. IDK what you’re supposed to call him though, “loud”? cloudy? lmao
- His economy was totally stunted at the turn of the century by Cal and Lethbridge so he’s kind of a fragile big bro, but a laid back one as well these days in spite of his troubles with bankruptcy.
- Despite that his history and connection to early Alberta is Very Strong and his dedication to his old buildings makes him the site for many a movie yes including brokeback mountain
- UlTiMaTe GoLf DaD, smol town lorge heart
