Ephesians 1:11-14. “Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan. God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[b] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
Colossians 1:11b-14. “May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”
1 Peter 1:3-5. “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.”
(All Bible verses are in the New Living Translation)
“God’s Healing Grace” By In Touch Ministries:
“Because of Christ, our brokenness is being made whole, and we can look forward to a glorious future.”
“In his letter to the Ephesian church, Paul wrote that God brought “all things together in Christ” (Eph. 1:10). This means that because of Jesus, we are being healed in ways we could never have accomplished on our own. His death and resurrection:
• Freed us from sin. We are indwelt by God’s Spirit and have His power to resist temptation and obey.
• United us with our Savior. We live in Christ and He lives in us. He is with us always, wherever we go.
• Made us family. God is our heavenly Father, and we are His sons and daughters. Our spiritual family extends all over the world.
• Transferred us into the kingdom of light. The world is ruled by darkness, but anyone who calls Jesus “Savior” lives in the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:12-13). We are citizens of heaven.
• Gave us an eternal inheritance. We’ve already inherited the promises of Scripture, but more awaits us in heaven (1 Peter 1:4).
• Initiated sanctification. To sanctify means “to make holy.” With our cooperation, the Spirit transforms us into Jesus’ likeness throughout our years on earth.
When life wears you down, ponder all the ways God is actively healing you. He won’t give up on your redemption, even if you at times feel like giving up.” Amen! 🙌

"DON'T WAIT UNTIL THANKSGIVING TO THANK HIM!"
Read: 1 Chronicles 16:7-36 “O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever” (1 Chronicles 16:34 AMP) We often think of Gratitude in terms of Gain: Someone gives you a ride to work. A neighbor cooks a meal when you’ve had surgery. Your boss notices your hard work and gives you a raise. The kids clean up the house or your husband cooks dinner. For…

Vigilantly seeking the things that are above
Vigilantly seeking the things that are above
Today we will be looking at the topic of vigilance. When we vigilantly “seek the things that are above,” we are not only looking forward to a heavenly eternity, but we should be finding ways to enact heavenly principles in the here and now, incorporating our new, spiritual kingdom life into the life we are living now. The apostle Paul stated it this way: Colossians 3:1-3 – If then you were…

Enforcing Christ's Victory (242) – April 20 2024
Play on other Podcast Apps This program reminds us of the defeat of sickness and disease, as a result of God defeating the devil and his powers of darkness by him being disarmed (Col 2:15). The devil may still have the ability to inflict sickness and disease and other oppressive evil measures against humanity, but he has no authority to do so because of being disarmed by God in Christ, at the…

"Why can't I?" is the wrong question
“Why can’t I?” is the wrong question, sisters. As Christian women, it’s important that we ask the correct theological questions. Sadly, many of us don’t. Too many women define their Christianity by the culture rather than the fullness of Scripture. But to do so makes us become unfruitful because we have become unfaithful. Elisabeth Elliot once said that the fact that she was a woman didn’t make…

Justification and Forgiveness
Transferring guilt to another so that the guilty can go free is at the heart of our faith. J. Sidlow Baxter, (1903-1999), an Australian pastor and theologian, and a valiant and trustworthy expositor of God’s word from a previous generation reminds us of the central truth of our faith. It is good for us to remind ourselves of basic things, foundational things. And it is good for us to reflect and…

The Gospel Daily - Overcome the Invisible
Tumblr media
by Matthew J. Elliott
Wednesday, April 5th, 2023
Today’s Verse: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things have been created through Him and for Him." - Colossians 1:15-16
Colossians is a small important book in the New Testament written to describe what it truly means to understand who Christ is and what he has called us for. Here, Paul is speaking about the Sovereignty of God. He is giving his readers a description of God's power and authority over all things. When we struggle with the invisible or unknown in our lives, let us remember that God has overcome both the visible and the invisible. While we cannot see God, we can always embrace the fact that He is there with us, guiding us through what He has already overcome. Today, remind yourself that God is in control and that while you may not understand or comprehend what you are going through, He truly does.
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank You for overcoming the struggles of this world. Thank You for everything, even though we may not understand why we go through certain things, You do, and You are with us. Please guide us in every step we take. Amen.

How to Control Your Thought Life | Charles Stanley [Colossians 3:1-3]
Charles Stanley delivered an impactful sermon on the importance of controlling our thoughts. With profound insight & practical wisdom, he emphasized our thoughts shape our actions & ultimately determine the trajectory of our lives.
Do you ever have problems struggling with your thoughts maybe thoughts you shouldn't have & maybe thoughts about people whatever it might be--sometimes you just allow your mind to sort of drift over into
    Unforgiveness/Pride/Lust/Anger
1.] Your Mind is Working
All kind of attitudes & thoughts in your mind that you know are not very good, then of course there are those thoughts of love, kindness, & goodness toward others.
But the truth is that your mind is working all the time--you're thinking something all the time.
Somebody says "Well sometimes I just don't think"
Oh yes you do, because your mind is not    a vacuum -- there is something there all    the time & so when these thoughts come    in your mind, how do you respond to that
Do you get some sense of satisfaction    about thinking something that's not right?
Do you feel guilty about it?
Do you feel like well I just can't help myself    or do you say the devil made me do it?
And so think about this:
You & I live in a society & in a time in a culture that our minds are continuously bombarded by things that we see on the television/movies, things we read in the newspapers
For example words that you hear/sites that you see -- our mind is always receiving all of these things, sometimes that's good & sometimes it's not so good..
1.1] What's the Secret to Change?
The question is how can you & I live a godly life & think right?
When we live in a world that's throwing all of these things that are not right at our mind.. & so how do we live in this kind of a culture and think right?
Let me just say this:
it's not going to change until JESUS comes, it's going to be the same, and we are not going to reach someday out there--where everything is right & everybody is gone
it's not going to be that way, so how do we learn to live in a godly fashion -- in a world that is so Antichrist?
I want you to listen very carefully
     Our thoughts are powerful
What you think today is affecting your life more than you realize: Who you are today is the result of what you've been thinking all these years.
And what you think today is going to      determine where you're going to be      tomorrow & what you're going to be      tomorrow because you see it's our      thoughts that cause us to become      what we are
it's our thoughts that influence our      relationships/choice of occupation,      our marriage partner..
it's our thoughts that cause us to move      in a certain direction and make certain      decisions that affect our finances that      affect every aspect of our life, that
affect our relationship to JESUS CHRIST
Our thoughts are powerful mediums & when you think about the fact of how awesome this mind is
You say well sometimes I don't think      mine's very awesome, I understand      that we all have different abilities..
But when I open the back of a computer for example & look down & see what seems to be total confusion because this little drop will look like lead here, & a little wire here going there..
Then I look at that this inanimate object & I can look on the screen & see this picture & I can hit a few keys and talk to somebody a long ways away—or just about any place in the world and everything imaginable
Then I open it back up & think no way, but      in somebody's mind they conceive the idea      of creating something like this
And GOD gave them the ability to think.
They had to think first of all about the possibility.
think about the ways it could be done, & so      what do we have? We have many wonderful      gadgets & awesome pieces of equipment &      technology — that make it possible for us to      get the Gospel around the world
And to make our life easy.
It all begins in the mind now.
youtube
1.2] How do we control our thoughts?
Because Satan is going to bombard us in every way he possibly can to get us off track & derail us.
get us the drifting into something that we    have no business being in, so I want you    to turn if you will take Colossians 3:1-3
I want us to read just these first three verses of this CH & this begins our whole message entitled:
    How to control your thoughts
Colossians 3:1-3 Therefore, since you have been raised with CHRIST—strive for the things above, where CHRIST is seated at the right hand of GOD.
² Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. ³ For you died, & your life is now hidden with CHRIST in GOD.
Now notice he says two things:
[1]  Keep seeking present active imperative          keep on doing it habitually keep seeking          CHRIST & then
[2]  Keep habitually setting your mind on the          things above, not on the things that are          on Earth because all of our thoughts are          either Heavenly or Earthly
All Earthly thoughts are not bad, Heavenly          thoughts are WHO JESUS is, WHO GOD is,          what is HE about, HIS wisdom, & all HIS          guidance, HIS power, HIS interest, HIS love          & devotion to us—as well as ours to HIM
And so with that in mind:
What I want us to do is, I want us to look at several aspects of this. And somebody objects saying, well how can I control my thinking?!”
Sometimes I can't! Well GOD gives us some    very clear warnings about that & I want you    to turn if you will..
First of all go back to Romans 8:5 & I want us to look at v.5 because here is one of a number of warnings in Scripture about the mind.
And they will not be here if they were not important & remember this—nowhere in the Bible does it say that GOD is going to govern your mind.
GOD is not going to make that decision.    HE makes it possible for us to make godly    decisions, but HE's not going to make it    for us—so I want you to look if you will    in Romans 8:5-8
Romans 8:5-8 | Walking by the SPIRIT [Ezekiel 36:16-38; Galatians 5:16-26]
⁵ Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the SPIRIT set their minds on the things of the SPIRIT.
⁶ The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the SPIRIT is life & peace, ⁷ because the mind of the flesh is hostile to GOD: It does not submit to GOD's law, nor can it do so.
⁸ Those controlled by the      flesh cannot please GOD.
HE says for those who are according to the flesh or that is living after their naturalness, means the naturalness how you live before you were saved.
HE says for those who are according to the Flesh & their naturalness—they set their mind on things of the flesh that is the worldly things, things that are not godly.
But those who are according to the SPIRIT,      on the things of the SPIRIT—that is godly      people think in terms of the things of the      SPIRIT—the ungodly do not.
HE says for the mind set on the flesh, our naturalness is death—but the mindset on the SPIRIT is life & peace because the mind set on the flesh
—that is our naturalness, those sinful tendencies we have is hostile toward GOD, for it does not subject itself to the law of GOD
for it's not even able to do so
A lost person cannot live a godly life, an ungodly person does not think in terms of godliness but earthly things..
Things that are essentially materialistic & secular kind of things, so he says the mindset and the flesh is death.
The Mind Settlement
   •  The SPIRIT is life & peace
Then because the mindset in the flesh, listen to this: is hostile toward GOD, they don't want GOD in their life—it doesn't subject itself, that is their mindset, it doesn't subject itself to the law of GOD.
They don't believe it don't want to abide by it.
But it's not even able to do so, & those who are in the flesh cannot please GOD. Now your lost friends may say, "Well I'm this or that & the other."
The Bible says:
If you are unsaved, you've never trusted JESUS CHRIST --you're living in the flesh, that is in your naturalness your five natural tendencies that GOD has given us & these dictate your life.
You cannot walk in the SPIRIT of GOD, you cannot live a godly life, & live that way.
Go back if you will to Romans 1 for a moment & I want to show you a very strong verse--all this has to do with our mind & if you look at Romans 1:28
HE says & this is the longest list of sins given anywhere in Scripture, but HE says in v.28 Those who have turned away from GOD:
Romans 1:28 | ²⁸ Furthermore, since they did not    see fit to acknowledge GOD, HE gave them up to    depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
Now why has HE said depraved mind? [8:17]
Because GOD is simply saying to us our actions are the result of the way we think--a depraved mind is a mind that is morally corrupt.
that is it is morally & totally corrupt, it does      not think about spiritual things. It does not      want to think about spiritual things because      it's all earthly to them..
sensuality, materialism, & all the things that      they think will bring them happiness & peace      in life--which you & I know does not.
And the truth is, if they were honest--they'd have to say no I don't have peace. I am living in anxiety no no no no
all the things they boast of when the truth      comes out, that's not who they are because      GOD says they cannot [tell anything but lies]

But Now
“But now” is an important method when it comes to understanding the Bible. If we straddle prophecy and mystery we will be unstable and doubleminded as things are different now to the way they once were in times past during Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. During the time of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the law (keeping the Sabbath, celebrating the feast days, adhering to a kosher diet, etc) wasn’t…
