I think you've discussed a TTRPG where you have to calculate the specific trajectory of weapons through the target's body to determine damage multipliers, right? I'm trying to find some examples of taking granularity to an absurd degree like that, and google is no help, but I bet you know some good examples
If you read about it here, you're probably thinking of Phoenix Command. It's generally recognised as top of the heap when it comes to fine-grained mechanics in ranged combat, though other RPGs have delved into a similar level of detail with respect to other spheres of play – C°ntinuum and time travel, for example, or Eoris: Essence and whatever the hell this is:
There are no separate systems. The world is a continuum. Where to draw a boundary around a system depends on the purpose of the discussion—the questions we want to ask.
You mentioned the RPG Continuum recently, and having read through its wiki page I have to say I’m intrigued. However, I’m having trouble tracking down a “legal” means of procuring it. There is a PDF in the archive of Trove, but on the actual Aetherco site I haven’t been able to track down a store page. I will note that there is a 1999 paperback edition for sale on Amazon for over $200 dollars, just for funsies. Would you happen to know where I could get it legitly (or less legitly if it’s truly un-findable)?
(With reference to this post here.)
The authors of C°ntinuum are infamously hostile to digital distribution of any sort – even the character sheets on the publisher's website are encrypted with a password that appears only in the printed core rulebook. I'm afraid there's no legitimate means of obtaining an ebook version; together with the fact that the physical rulebook has been out of print for over twenty years, anyone who's interested in obtaining the game legally must be prepared to pay collector's prices.
