my small human wheatley HC scenario
because I'm down BAD!!!!!!!!! RAH!!!!!!!!
- wheatley having an absolute PUPPY crush on you and finding the stupidest excuses to see you , him being stupidly down bad self just to confess in the end after a (time skip) few weeks
indulgent saansosnaKSNSHAHA, and not written very seriously
for gn readers!!
So you've caught his attention. HOUGH. Let's say you've been working around Aperture as a data logger or some other desk job, most preferably one that doesn't require a lot of talking, but his cubical is like right beside yours. It's basically like a drab monotone setting, classic crammed together offices under that gross florescent lighting
He's talked to you a few times, mostly small office talk, classic conversations by the water cooler, that stuff. GOD he talked a lot in those small moments. saying things like:
"Some brilliant water right here, it just... Quenches the thirst, like water should, you know." He's propped up his elbow on top of the water jug on top while drinking from those pathetic little paper cups, looks like he could just drop that thing with how bad his hand is shaking, and yet he STILL continues.
"Nothing like .. Aperture refreshments, like, seriously, it's some...er..." He drones off, before looking at your confused yet entertained expression, and trying a DIFFERENT approach than the pathetic water convo starter. bravo wheatley!
"...How's it going!"
Usually he can never get very far to talking to you without being told to go back to his cubical, so he's practically quaking in his own skin right now?
if you give him a nod or any positive affirmation? he lights up says things along the lines of:
"Brilliant! That's great to hear mate! Ah ..I mean. Good, good. That's good. Myself? Not doing too shabby, just small quarrels with Jerry here and there, no problem, no problem whatsoever."
however if you are feeling stressed out of not really your best?:
"Ah..Right, hmm..Right, I'll tell you what, at least you haven't spilled your coffee all over the desk, right?.... Don't look, no, don't look at my shirt, I still haven't gotten the stains out." He nervously chuckles, trying to cheer you up. there is a VERY prominent coffee stain plastered on the mid section of his shirt, it's.........it's something alright.
When the two of you part ways, and go back to your cubicles, he's absolutely anxious. we are talking about nervous leg bouncing, chewing on pencil erasers, tapping his hands against the desk, just absolutely ITCHING (hehe you get it like the chapter in portal called the itc * gets thrown off the stage * anyways) to see you again. His gaze drifts down to the gap that separates you and him, and gets an idea. He scrawls something on a piece of paper, before tearing off on his APERTURE BRANDED stick it note pad, and bending down to the floor to push it under the gap with his pencil, stretching to poke your leg with it to get your attention before sitting up in his chair
the note??? you ask?
"Lunch is in 30, can I buy you something? - Wheatley :]"
If you decide to go, oh he's DELIGHTED. definitely knocks on your door the MINUTE OF. NO LATER. and waits for you to come out
he's absolutely Smitten. with you, watching carefully as you point out what you want, and he gives it to you, maybe even splurges on a stale cafeteria cookie for the two of you, and finds a small break room for the two of you to chat
He doesn't care that you don't talk much, it makes you all the more interesting. What's stewing in that brain of yours? What mysterious oasis lays inside that noggin? He's going to crack that egg and find out, one ramble at a time.
He blabbers on about something, noticing you watching him, and he gets flustered, but continues blabbering nonetheless :
"Just thought of something, and quite honestly, it's bloody unnerving. You ever noticed them birds perched up on the lab equipment? Nasty critters, they are... Conniving....Bet they are plotting something ..something big.. nasty... But! But, but but... If you like birds, that's cool too, in all honesty it makes you seem cooler than you already are.. That is, if you even.. Like them critters."
He runs a hand through his hair, before sinking in his seat with relief of your laughter. So this makes him continue.
"But aside from them nasty.....Corvids, I'll tell you what, mate, these things are uhm..." He gestures towards the stale cookies, before clearing his throat. "Horrible. GOD awful. Quite honestly, I'm ashamed to have even given you that." oh he's pitiful. I love him so much
he would continue to do this for some amount of weeks, before working up the gall to finally ask you on a proper date. It started out as usual, him sliding the note under your cubical and buying your lunches, but this time, he takes you outside the office space, and onto the catwalks. He sits down, patting the spot beside him, before staring out into the abyss, just outside the guard rail.
"So.. Uhm.. Sorry about the change of scene, er, I figured it would be best if we found a little snug spot, hm?" He couldn't even look at you without thoughts of backing down plaguing his mind, so he continued on.
"Listen, I've been thinking for a while and uh.. We're good mates, yeah? We're office buddies, we get along, have a bit of banter, eat lunches together.. you listen to my absolute LUNACY, and.... My banter, which it's honestly maddening how you keep up- which is absolutely amazing! I'm glad I got you mate, really, I do." He glanced over at you, looking for any mutual understanding in your eyes, before continuing, looking away once more. god he's a mess
"Well I guess what I'm trying to get at is... More so propose, I guess in a sense, is that I wanted to know if.. you possibly... Wanted to be more than mates?" His eyes darted to your face, before looking away once more. "You just make my day, and..Even if I talk you up a bloody tree," he chuckled, running his hand through his hair again, before pushing up his glasses, facing you entirely. "I think I genuinely like you. Like. Like, like you, if you know what I mean. You don't gotta nod, you don't even gotta answer! Although that's most... preferable, I figure I should just... Y'know...out with it!"
when you accepted, oh he was happier than a kid who got turned loose in a candy store. had to absolutely PHYSICALLY restrain himself from squeezing you into a hug, if it wasn't for you eating your food, he would be more than happy to swoop you up into his arms. however one thing was for sure, he was definitely already calling you luv instead of mate.
it was you, and he didn't want to keep the two of you a secret.
after all, we are talking about you!! who would keep you a secret?

Ozzy smiled at the text, having a small understanding heat form a monster friend of his. I would believe that Ozzy would buckle up his cookies to make sure they don’t get destroyed!
Lol, you arrive at the spot. It’s a bit farther down the mountain than the ranger cabins. A circle of sheds with several loggers cutting wood, some making beams and a few making actual furniture with it. Among them is one of the tallest skeletons you’ve ever seen. Definitely the maple he’s talking about, you can see the family resemblance in their faces
The skeleton is lanky looking, and wielding a chainsaw as he works on a wooden statue of a bear. He’s wearing his eye safety equipment, but forgoed the clothes for just a pair of cargo shorts and shoes. Surprisingly light for this weather. You’re shocked he’s not cold lol

Common Myths about Private Browsing
Private Browsing is a useful feature of Firefox, but only if you understand the protection it offers. It helps you obscure your online activity from other people who use Firefox on your computer, but does not make you invisible online.
Myth 1: Private Browsing makes you anonymous on the Internet
Reality: Private Browsing does not mask your identity or activity online. Websites and internet service providers can still gather information about your visit, even if you are not signed in. If you use your device at work, your company may be able to monitor the websites you visit. If you surf the Web at home, your cable company (or their partners) may have access to your browsing information. Only a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can mask your location and encrypt your online activity, keeping your identity and data safe from prying eyes. If you need to stay anonymous online, try Mozilla VPN.
Myth 2: Private Browsing removes all traces of your browsing activity from your computer
Reality: Private Browsing works by letting you browse without saving passwords, cookies and browsing history in a Private Window. If you download a file from a website, it will remain on your computer, but it will not appear in the download manager in Firefox. If you bookmark a website while in a Private Window, it will remain in your bookmark list.
Myth 3: Private Browsing doesn’t display any browsing history
Reality: Private Browsing will, by default, display visited sites and bookmarks as you type in the address bar. Firefox saves these pages during normal browsing. If you don’t want to see these suggestions, you can deselect them in your Firefox Settings Privacy & Security panel under Address Bar.
privacy preferences 65
Myth 4: Private Browsing will protect you from keystroke loggers and spyware
Reality: Private Browsing does not protect you from malware installed on your computer. If you suspect you have malware, take steps to remove it to prevent it from happening again.

Also, I think you forget I took a lot of the same classes you did, I just didn't finish my degree. I was in school for a year and a half, at the same school, for business management/changed to administration in the last six months I was there. And I actually went to the school, not online courses.
They don't teach you about Google analytics in detail, they just briefly go over it.
With Google analytics you can see the IP address, the type of device, the browser being used, and how many times visited.
Google analytics doesn't give you an exact location.. so you copy and paste the address into a locator. Because they're are specific apps available for giving the real world location of the IP address. That's why you use a VPN if you're smart.
.. If you're smart. Any third party can view your IP, all of your browser cookies, and even your actual address. I can't see browser cookies or an address, but it can be located using the IP. And fun fact, but if you log into any other public wifi, every single website you go to and message you send can be seen by the service provider and the network host. That's why they warn you about non-secure connections in public.
Dipshit.
If you go to my Gaia, you can see it definitely saves your IP, it even shows it to you. Google analytics is why that IP logger is on that page.
It's a shame we could only get the Comcast IP from yahoo when someone logged into his account in December, they don't save the device. It would've been really nice to have that saved.
Turns out you can have a degree in business and still know next to nothing about how the internet works. You are not owed any privacy right when you visit any website. The internet is not a private service. It is very much public, and everything you do can be seen legally.

django.request logger not propagated to root?
Using Django 1.5.1:
DEBUG = FalseLOGGING = { 'version': 1, 'disable_existing_loggers': True, 'formatters': { 'verbose': { 'format': '%(levelname)s %(asctime)s %(module)s %(message)s' }, }, 'handlers': { 'console': { 'level': 'DEBUG', 'class': 'logging.StreamHandler', 'formatter': 'verbose', }, }, 'loggers': { # root logger '': { 'handlers': ['console'], }, #'django.request': { # 'handlers': ['console'], # 'level': 'DEBUG', # 'propagate': False, #}, }}
If I uncomment the commented lines and call a view which has 1/0, the traceback is printed to the console:
ERROR 2013-11-29 13:33:23,102 base Internal Server Error: /comment/*******/Traceback (most recent call last): ... File "*****/comments/views.py", line 10, in post 1/0ZeroDivisionError: integer division or modulo by zeroWARNING 2013-11-29 13:33:23,103 csrf Forbidden (CSRF cookie not set.): /comment/******/[29/Nov/2013 13:33:23] "POST /comment/******/ HTTP/1.0" 500 27
But if the lines stay commented, no traceback is printed to the console, just:
[29/Nov/2013 13:33:23] "POST /comment/******/ HTTP/1.0" 500 27
I thought if django.request logger is not configured, it would propagate to the root logger, which prints everything to console.
I didn't find any information that django.request is special.
Why it doesn't work?
Here I read:
Prior to Django 1.5, the LOGGING setting always overwrote the default Django logging configuration. From Django 1.5 forward, it is possible to get the project’s logging configuration merged with Django’s defaults, hence you can decide if you want to add to, or replace the existing configuration.
If the disable_existing_loggers key in the LOGGING dictConfig is set to True (which is the default) the default configuration is completely overridden. Alternatively you can redefine some or all of the loggers by setting disable_existing_loggers to False.
In django/utils/log.py:
# Default logging for Django. This sends an email to the site admins on every# HTTP 500 error. Depending on DEBUG, all other log records are either sent to# the console (DEBUG=True) or discarded by mean of the NullHandler (DEBUG=False).DEFAULT_LOGGING = { 'version': 1, 'disable_existing_loggers': False, 'filters': { 'require_debug_false': { '()': 'django.utils.log.RequireDebugFalse', }, 'require_debug_true': { '()': 'django.utils.log.RequireDebugTrue', }, }, 'handlers': { 'console':{ 'level': 'INFO', 'filters': ['require_debug_true'], 'class': 'logging.StreamHandler', }, 'null': { 'class': 'django.utils.log.NullHandler', }, 'mail_admins': { 'level': 'ERROR', 'filters': ['require_debug_false'], 'class': 'django.utils.log.AdminEmailHandler' } }, 'loggers': { 'django': { 'handlers': ['console'], }, 'django.request': { 'handlers': ['mail_admins'], 'level': 'ERROR', 'propagate': False, }, 'py.warnings': { 'handlers': ['console'], }, }}
So by default django.request has propagate = False. But In my case I have 'disable_existing_loggers': True.

Causes, Effects and Solutions to Combating Illegal Logging Globally
Illegal logging is the cutting down of trees, transporting them, or using their products such as timber for economic gains against the prohibition by law. It involves the use of corrupt ways to reach the forests or protected areas, the harvesting or cutting down of the trees without approval, and selling them elsewhere or in black markets as timber.
The excessive extraction of timber beyond the stipulated limits is equally pronounced as illegal logging. As global demand for comedies such as paper, wood, and palm oil soars, companies and people continue to encroach even deeper into forests, aggravating the illegal logging problem. In this article, we focus on the underlying causes of illegal logging, its effects, and solutions to the pervasive problem.
Various Causes of Illegal Logging
1. Rural Poverty
In the forest regions, there is always a rural community or indigenous people living within the locality. These communities or tribes are in most cases very poor and entirely depend on the forest for their needs and survival.

From food, shelter to fuel, it’s all obtained from the forest. Consequently, they are put in a situation where they source firewood for cooking and heating from the forest that encourages the practice of constant illegal logging.
Most of their shelter construction materials are also sourced from the forest which has led to repeated illegal cutting down of trees to obtain timber. Further, since such villages experience harsh economic situations and considering that the forest is their only source of income, they often collude with illegal loggers for monetary gains. Some may also illegally obtain wood from the forest and sell them to lumber mills.
2. Cheaper products in black markets
The economics of the markets globally equally plays a role in promoting illegal logging. The reason for this is that illegal timber is normally cheaper compared to legal timber in black markets thereby denying legal operators competitive advantage.
To a great extent, this is fueling the demand for illegal timber which means more illegal logging. Importers of illegal logs and the dependency of black wood in countries such as Japan, China, the US, and the EU make the problem even worse.
3. Illegal charcoal, furniture and timber trade
There is an increasing dependency on charcoal, furniture, and timber across the world. Charcoal is used for heating and cooking in most developing countries and those who engage in the trade illegally cut down trees which are then used to make the charcoal. High-density wood is often preferred to make high-quality charcoal, which means the illegal cutting down of hardwood trees.
The soaring demand for furniture and timber also propels the practice of illegal logging, a multi-billion dollar industry involving some of the top government officials and corporate executives as well as big business owners who are out for selfish monetary gains.
4. Weaknesses and laxity in forest governance
Forest governance in producer countries very poor and the laws in place are lax at addressing illegal logging concerns. Limited resources, weak institutions, and lax laws have contributed to inadequate law enforcement and the lack of proper land use management. Furthermore, many countries have unclear and poor legal frameworks.
Some are even contradictory. These issues combined leave so many gaps in forest management and governance and as such, it makes it hard for the formal systems to strictly enforce laws guarding against illegal logging. It creates room for businesses and individuals to deliberately over-harvest or take advantage of the legislation gaps.
Shocking Effects of Illegal Logging
1. Poor living standards for indigenous populations
The lives of indigenous communities and villagers living in proximity to the forests are usually destroyed in countless ways because of illegal logging. Illegal logging takes away their traditional way of life and livelihoods. Particularly, their tribal cultures are lost if the forest goes away and it also makes it difficult for them to forage which threatens their survival.
Some also depend on the forest resources for income and as such, illegal logging withdraws their only source of income which makes them modern-day slaves and shadows of their real cultures.
2. Global warming and climate change
Illegal logging destroys trees that act as carbon sinks and climate regulators which play a significant role in global warming and climate change. Aside from increasing the global temperatures, the practice also accounts for the reduction of the total forest cover area exposing most of the lands to high temperatures and extreme weather conditions.
The illegal clearing of forests to obtain timber is equally responsible for about 11% of carbon emissions which continue to impact climates worldwide. Examples of extreme weather impacts include the wildfires in Portugal, heatwaves in phoenix, and extreme flooding in Miami beaches.
3. Loss of biodiversity
Forest loss as a result of illegal logging is a threat to biodiversity in forest habitats. More and more species are unable to survive as the practice denies the habitat the crucial natural interconnectedness. The extensive fragmentation and degradation of the forest have put more animal and plant species on the verge of extinction.
It is approximated that the modern-day rate of extinction is in the range of 1 to 10 species annually. Research indicates that this rate is only comparable to the historical biodiversity loss caused by catastrophic events such as huge volcanic eruptions.
4. Economic losses
Apart from the numerous environmental consequences of illegal logging, it can also weaken the economy of poor countries. Illegal logging is said to lower the prices of world timber in the ranges of 7% to 16% annually, causing a global revenue loss of about 15 billion US dollars per year.
In poor countries, governments lose revenue from duties and taxes and other costs related to the management of illegal logging. Besides, the losses are not only in terms of current revenue but may also lead to major economic ramifications in the future due to the degradation of valuable natural resources.
5. All countries will feel the combined problems in the long-term
As much as big businesses, top government officials, and executives in the corporate world may take the matter of illegal logging less seriously for their own selfish gains and wealth accumulation, it is something that will ultimately affect the whole world.
While other people and countries may think that it only affects the producing countries, long-term climatic, economic, and environmental problems will affect most of the countries in the world. For instance, the illegal logging in the Amazon forest is projected to lessen rain in northern China and the Midwest US while increasing rain in Northern Europe and Eastern Africa.
Best Solutions to Illegal Logging
1. Encouragement of forest stewardship
Among the best solutions to illegal logging, management is the promotion of forest stewardship programs. Stewardship councils and programs can work as effective tools for managing forests by tracking timber harvesting, transportation, and sale.
Such programs can also aid in protecting vulnerable forest areas from further degradation as a result of encroachments or conversion into farmlands. For the effectiveness of forest stewardship programs, it is essential that it works directly with the lumber mills and timber industry to monitor and curtail black markets.
2. Stricter regulations on forest management
Stricter legislation in all countries against illegal logging and the prohibition of importing illegal timber can go a long way in solving the problem. The relevant forest management authorities should take action and utilize their constitutional provisions on environmental protection to enact laws and regulations restricting the practice.
Most states in regions such as Australia, Europe, USA, and Asia only prohibit illegal timber and timber products which are pronounced as not enough in the fight against illegal logging. Producing countries with the laws but without enough effort to enforce them must also strive to strengthen their action plans on forest law enforcement.
Subjecting the lawbreakers to harsh penalties such as sentencing and huge fines can considerably aid in managing the problem.
3. Legal purchases
We as the consumers can equally be part of the solution and we can contribute by ensuring that we only purchase certified timber products. Serious governments, regional organizations, and third party certification initiatives like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and EU are working round the clock to ensure only certified timber reaches the markets.
These initiatives, therefore, provide the most outstanding global standards for the management of forest, and as consumers; it’s now upon us to be mindful when purchasing timber and its products. By doing this, we will be curtailing illegal logging together with its associated multi-billion dollar industry and illegal markets.
4. Volunteer, donate and spread the word
There are numerous forest management groups, organizations, and community programs that work tirelessly to fight illegal logging. From time to time, however, these groups and organizations experience challenges in terms of support, funding, or manpower.
As custodians of our planet’s resources, it’s important for people to join the fight against illegal logging by offering donations or by volunteering. It can be as simple as volunteering a few hours per week, making monetary donations or funding campaigns to organizations such as the Forest Stewardship Council, Greenpeace, and the World Wildlife Fund.
Also, spreading the word about the impacts of illegal logging through blogs, social media, political groups, and community programs can help people understand the issues at hand which can eventually help address the matter.

This is a PHP IP logger I made that sends the IP's to a Discord webhook.Step 1: Go into the settings of your Discord server, click webhooks and create one then copy the link to it.Step 1: Complete the tutorial above on getting an IP logger link, unless you have your own site. Maybe you need to create a secure connection between two devices or allow someone access to your business’s network. Keep in mind that you should only try this method on other people with their consent.īut you can develop a website that does the same and send it over to your friend on Discord. This request contains an address that is sent to the server.
#Discord ip grabber online code
I have divided the process into certain parts that you can research and implement. You can either code the UI of your website yourself or just download any free template from the internet. A new working and simple Discord Token Grabber. This means that as soon as you ban someone from your Discord server, no one using that particular IP address will be able to enter. Grabs a users IP and Discord Tag after visiting a web page.

Website Browsing is it Really Private?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Website Browsing is it Really Private Private web browsing in a nutshell! Other users of your device won’t see your history.  When it comes to private browsing however there are a few misconceptions and common myths. These are important things to know if you want to feel safe surfing in whatever browser you prefer. Let us take a look at each of them before discussing exactly how you can use this feature in each of the web’s most commonly used browsers. You Are Anonymous When Private Browsing Private browsing does not make you invisible on the internet. Your internet service provider and other websites can still see and gather information on your activity. The same goes for browsing in this mode on your work computer, so your employer may still have access to your activity's also. Don’t be fooled into thinking nobody else can see or trace your activity. These modes only usually apply to masking your activity from users of the same device. Firefox, for example, explicitly tells you this; warning that your ISP or employer can still track the pages you visit. Private Browsing Erases All Browsing Activity Any downloads you make or bookmarks you save won’t be hidden from view if done in private browsing. Downloads will remain saved in file directories on your computer and bookmarks will be saved to the tab in your normal browser mode.  What private browsing modes does do is let you surf without saving cookies or tracking your browsing history. Private Browser Is Safe and Keeps Keystroke Loggers Out Some internet security experts might recommend, private browser modes to protect you from malware, viruses, spyware or programs tracking your keystrokes, sorry this is not the case. You’ll still need to have regular security protocols in place. Now lets take a look at browsing privately in some of the popular browsers. How to Browse Privately In Chrome Chrome’s private browsing option is also referred to as ‘incognito mode’. You can switch it on by clicking the More button in the top right (three dots), and choosing New incognito window. Alternatively you can switch to it via keyboard shortcuts; Ctrl+Shift+N in Windows and Mac+Shift+N on Mac. You’ll know you’re in incognito mode when the incognito icon (man with hat and glasses) shows in the top right corner. Simply closing the window will end the mode. How to Browse Privately In Safari Switching to private browsing in Safari can be done by going to File > New private window. You can also set the app to always open in this mode by going to Safari > Preferences > General and then choosing a new private window from the pop-up menu. You can stop the mode by going through the same process. You can browse privately on an iPhone and an iPod touch similarly. All you have to do is press the new page button, tap Private and then Done. You’ll know it’s in the mode when Safari changes from white or grey to black or dark. How to Browse Privately In Firefox You can open a new Private Window from the Firefox menu in the top right of the browser window. Alternatively you can also press Ctrl+Shift+P. To open up links in a normal browsing window in a new private one, right-click it and select the option. You’ll know you’re browsing privately as they’ll be a purple mask at the top bar of the screen. How to Browse Privately In Edge Private browsing is called InPrivate in Microsoft Edge and Explorer browsers. You can access it by clicking the Settings and more button in the top right (three dots). From there, select New InPrivate window. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+P can also switch to the mode. You’ll know it’s on when the InPrivate label shows in a blue square in the top right of the browser. Mobster’s Daughter
Kenny Crobsy x Reader
Y/N was not used to working with a team. She spent most of her career as a UC with the Organized Crime Unit. After nearly ten years, Y/N put in a transfer to the fugitive recovery unit. She wanted something new, something that didn’t remind her of her childhood. She knew that working with a team meant forming close bonds with people, but she didn’t expect to fall in love. When she meant Kenny Crosby, the communication specialist with anger issues, it was like the world stilled. It was almost like how the wolves in Twilight describe imprinting.
They had started dating only three months after she joined the team, and disclosed it to their unit chief. Jess just said that they needed to keep it professional at work, or he was going to have to transfer one of them. Y/N had spoken with him privately, telling him if anything happens to transfer her not Kenny. That had surprised him, but he agreed.
She had been with the unit for almost a year, when her old unit chief called her--- needing her for a very important case. Her father’s case..Y/N’s father had walked out on her and her mother when she was 4 years old to run the Russo Crime Family. Though Y/N’s mother, Ivy, was embarrassed and hurt, she never lied to Y/N about who her father was. He would send money for her schooling and presents on her birthday, and Christmas, but he didn’t know anything about her or her future. He didn’t know that she had joined the FBI as she had changed her last name to her mother’s maiden name.
Things were getting out of control with the Russo Family, so she needed to stop them. She just didn’t know how to tell Kenny, so she took the easy way out and broke up with him.
Y/N paced in front of his door, waiting for him to open up. “...I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore..” she muttered, trying to find the proper words.
She jumped as the door opened, “Kenny!” she squealed, clenching her chest.
He laughed, leaning against the door frame. “You musta been thinking really hard.”
She shot him a glare. “Are you going to let me in?” She pushed his chest playfully, hoping that she was playing off her anxiety.
He grinned, stepping aside so that she could come in. Y/N looked around, noticing that he was probably using his day off to clean his apartment. “Do you want anything to drink?” He asked, shutting the door.
Y/N shook her head, “No, I am good. I can’t stay for long, gotta meet my mom for lunch. I just stopped by to see if my gray cardigan was here, I can’t seem to find it..” She chickened out. She couldn’t break up with him.
Kenny look around, noticing it hanging off the back of his recliner. “Here you go,” he picked it up, “but you are going to have to work for it.” He held it above her head.
She rolled her eyes, moving to give him a kiss. As he leaned down, Y/N jabbed him in the stomach-- which caused him to double over. She pulled it from his grasp, quickly pecking his cheek. “Nice try.” She whispered in his ear, quickly turning to leave.
He gasped, “Not so fast.” He wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off the ground.
Y/N squealed, disregarding the cardigan. “Kenny!”
He laughed loudly, spinning her around. “That was so underhanded! I didn’t think that you had it in you.” He spun her around in his arms so that he could look into her eyes.
She smirked. “There is a lot about me that you don’t know.” She leaned down to kiss him, forgetting the real reason for her visit.
He wrapped her legs around his waist, pressing her against his chest. She knotted her fingers with his hair, trying to memorize his lips. “Are you sure that you have to go to lunch with your mom?” He asks, pressing kisses to her neck.
She bit back a moan, nodding. “Yes, I haven’t seen her for ages.”
He nodded sadly, sitting her back on the ground. “Fine,” he rolled his eyes playfully, “but we are still going running tomorrow, right?”
She looked down at the cardigan, not wanting him to see the pain in her eyes. “Of course! It’s not safe for attractive men, like you, to be running by yourself, so I gotta be there to protect you.” She looked up at him with a cheeky smirk.
He rolled his eyes at her again, moving to tickle her. “So cheeky.” He walked her to the door with a loving grin on his face. “I will be at yours at 6AM, is that okay?”
She sighed. “Yeah, I guess.” She bit her lip, trying to hide her smile.
He leaned down and briefly kissed her as he showed her out. “I will see you tomorrow.”
She bumped her nose against him. “See ya tomorrow.” She walked away, tears rolling down her cheeks.
...The Next Morning…
Y/N’s POV
Y/N sat at the counter of the now empty kitchen, a piece of paper and pen in front of her. She had decided to leave him a letter, knowing that was not going to be able to lie to his face.
Kenny,
I can’t do it anymore. Please forgive me..
Don’t look for me…
Y/N
Tears stained the paper as she laid the pen down. She couldn’t write anymore without breaking down and telling him the truth. She grabbed her duffle bag and walked out of the one place that felt like home.
Kenny’s POV
He raced up the stairs to Y/N’s apartment, not wanting to bother with the elevator and wanting to warm up his muscles. He had decided to skip out of coffee in favor of downing two glasses of orange juice. He glanced down at his watch as he stepped out onto her floor, 5:50AM. He’s early. He sighed, slowly walking towards her apartment. It took him a moment to realize that her door was cracked, which scared him.
He slowly pushed the door open, calling out her name. “Y/N?” No response. He dialed her number, hoping that she had just left it cracked for him. He pressed the phone to his ear, hearing it ring twice.
“We are sorry. The number that you are trying to reach is out of service. Please hang up and try again later.”
Kenny looked around the apartment, taking in the emptiness. After exploring the abandoned apartment, he found the note on the counter.
Kenny,
I can’t do it anymore. Please forgive me..
Don’t look for me…
Y/N
He read those words over and over, knowing that something wasn’t right. He couldn’t bring himself to believe that she would just up and leave him like this, like that they hadn’t been talking about their future just yesterday.
He slid down the wall, to sit on the floor and cry.
6 months later…
Y/N’s POV
Slipping back into her ripped jeans, Y/N looked down at the henchman that her father had guarding her. A henchman that also happened to be his right hand man. She had seduced him, which made her feel as if she had cheated on Kenny, to get access to her father’s computer. She hadn’t actually slept with him. She had fixed him a drink, laced with a strong sedative, and made out with him.
She snuck out of her bedroom, tiptoeing down the hallway to his office. Anyone that lives or had been invited to stay the night had been in bed for hours, so she didn’t really have to worry about anyone catching her. Her father’s office was on the first floor near the kitchen, as he always had to be near food. With the amount he eats, Y/N was surprised that he was still in great shape…
She made a pit stop as she passed the kitchen to grab the container of cookies that she made as an excuse to be in her father’s office. She had hid them in her cabinet, which her father had given her as soon as he welcomed her into his home. He had sat her down in his office and they talked for hours. He had shared that he had missed her, and her mother, and that he wanted them to get to know each other. She had to remind herself that he was a bad guy, that had murdered a bunch of people and broken a lot of other laws.
Her father had given her a key to his office, for emergencies, so she didn’t need to pick the lock. She crept over to his computer, knowing that she didn’t need to turn it on as he never turns it off. She pulled out a cloning device and plugged it into the main port. She typed in his password, quickly scanning through his emails and internet history. She then scanned through all of the other documents on his computer, finding spreadsheets that explained where he was hiding the money. She pulled up his calendar, which he seemed to use to keep track of his special shipments. She made sure to clone that and mirror it to her phone. Using a USB, Y/n downloaded a keystroke logger on his computer. She was going to use her computer to keep track of his computer usage. She had already cloned his phone and bugged each of his cars, using her scrunchies, which he happily keeps in his cars as reminders of his daughter.
She looked up as she heard footsteps coming towards, so she quickly finished what she was doing. Y/N slipped the cloning device and USB into her pocket, moving the cookies so that they were sitting in front of his keyboard. The door opened, revealing her father in his pajamas.
“Y/N? What are you doing in here, love?” He rubbed his eyes, having just woken up.
She gulped, nerves bubbling in her stomach. “Well, it’s your birthday pop. I wanted to surprise you, but I guess the cat is out of the bag.” She held up the container of cookies, double chocolate with white chocolate chips.
He grinned, walking towards his desk. “How’d you know that these were my favorite?”
She opened the container for him. “They are my favorite too!”
He took one, taking a large bite out of it. “These are so yummy.” He did a little happy dance as he shoved the rest of it into his mouth.
She forced a smile. “I am glad that you enjoy it.” She passed over the container, “I am going to make some breakfast, would you like some?”
3 months later…
With the help of the cook, Y/N put together a wide spread of food for her father and his group of elite members. She had planned this evening as a way for her team to arrest all major players of the Russo Crime family without any of them going into hiding. Y/N worked out with her handler that she would also be taken into custody.
She and Mariana, the cook, set the table and placed each dish around the table to make it look appealing to the people eating. Once everything was set, Y/N called everyone in to eat. Her father grinned at the spread, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “It looks great, doll.” He kissed her head, moving towards the head of the table.
She took her spot next to him, feeling a pit in her stomach. “Thank you, dad!”
Everyone followed suit and took their seats. Her father said grace and started dishing out his portion of food. He passed it to Y/N, so gave herself a little bit and passed it along. She felt too nervous, so she wasn’t going to be able to eat much. Everyone was chatting aimlessly as they made up their plates. Y/N knew that no business would be brought up until everyone was digging in.
“This brisket is so delicious, Y/N. You’ll have to give me your recipe.” Gina, Rickie’s wife, stated from her spot down the table.
Y/N smiled, “Thank you, it’s my grans recipe. I think she’d come back and kill me if I share it.” The whole table laughed, muttering that their gran would do the same thing.
Y/N zoned out as she moved the food around her plate, taking tiny bites. Her father called attention as he began talking about the plans for the coming week. The women focused on their food as the men talked about shipments of drugs and weapons. As they were talking about times and locations, Y/N reacted into her pocket and clicked her pen-- which signaled her team to come in.
She counted to 15 in her head, taking a long sip of her wine. She was sitting down the glass as the FBI swat team broke down the front and back doors.
“FBI swat!! Put your hands up!” A strong confident voice screamed, as several other officers surrounded them.
Y/N jumped, pretending to be frightened. She looked at her dad, panic in her eyes. “Daddy? What’s going on?”
He took an aggravated breath. “I am not sure, but everything will be alright.”
An officer pulled roughly at her chair. “Get up. You are under arrest.” He pretended to get rough with her to draw a reaction out of her father.
He jumped out of his chair, the force knocking it over. “Do not touch her! She has nothing to do with this.”
The officer that stood behind her, pushed him back. “Stay back. We will determine whether she played a role or not.
Y/N’s captain stepped into the dining room, a bulletproof vest over a white button down shirt. “Vincent Russo. You and everyone in here are under arrest.”
3 months later…
Y/N stood outside of Kenny’s apartment, nervous to see him for the first time in a year. She had just finished up her father’s case and everything that was related to him. In the end, he told her to snitch on him to avoid any prison time. He told her that he would do anything to protect her, so he wanted her to testify against him. He had instructed all of his men that he could that he wanted her to testify against him, so they were too not go after her. She told him that the FBI wanted her to work for them as a consultant, or she would spend time in prison-- no matter her role in the organization. That hurt him, but he told her to do it- which surprised her.
After he was put away, she returned home. She had talked with Jess LaCriox about the mission that she had been sent on and how she wanted to return to the team. He talked with her captain and let her return to the team. The only stipulation was that she had to talk with Kenny, who had taken her leaving extremely hard.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N knocked on his front door. It took him a moment to answer, and she shook with nerves the whole time.
“How can I--” Kenny stopped mid sentence, surprise evident on his face.
Shoving her hands in her pockets, Y/N smiled. “Hey, Kenny…”
Without thinking, Kenny pulled her into his arms. He held her to him, not wanting to let her go. “Where did you go? Why did you leave?” He whispered into her hair.
She squeezed him tightly. “I think that it would be best to tell you inside your apartment.”
He picked her up, not wanting to let her go. They sat down on the couch and held each other as she explained that she had been called in to take down her father. She had to do some things that were against her morals, but it had to be done-- which is why she had to end things with him. Kenny just sat back and listened to her as she talked, glad that she was home safe.
“I don’t care what you did, Y/N. It was work, we’ve all had to do things we wouldn't do for work.
I am just glad that you made it home safe.” He stated, understanding where she was coming from.
She kissed him, not being able to hold back any longer. “I love you, Kenny. I didn’t tell you before I left.” Tears were now rolling down her cheeks.
He wiped them away, caressing her cheek. “I love you. I’ve loved you for the last two years and I plan on loving you for many more years.”

and all the trees of the field will clap their hands, 1/?
oh hey look a new multi-chaptered fic. as always, I blame @marypsue.  Very important note! This particular chapter is rated R for some gentle descriptions of married middle aged people having sex in the woods. If you want to skip that, it is in the last third of the chapter and has mostly little to do with the plot.
---
There are three ways this story begins: the short way, the medium way, and the long way.
—————————————
The short way was one day in the dying days of autumn, Stan got a call from Ford, who was on the Atlantic right now and headed towards New Jersey and
“Have the children ever been to New Jersey? To Glass Shard Beach?”
Stan adjusted the phone in the crook of his shoulder while he began to stir the bowl of Stancakes he was making, and coughed without covering his mouth.
“I think Mark took the twins when they were, fuck, six? The kids though? Never.”
“Well. I would love to see you.”
(In this universe do Stan and Ford share the ease and togetherness of other, more canon realms? No- their paths met for but a year or two before diverging again. But there was no anger, no bitterness, no sorrow in their parting, and a good relationship is still a good relationship.)
“Me too.” An idea hatched in Stan’s mind.
“When did you say you’d be in harbor again?”
---
“I have a proposition for you kiddo.”
“And I get frightened when you start using five dollar words old man.” Dipper laid down a three card book of jacks.
“Yeah yeah yeah. Look, this year’s been fucking trash right?”
Dipper thought about it. Then he thought about it again. The kids had turned 15....and then in the year following, Willow almost died, Henry became something Eldritch and Unknowable, Willow killed a grown woman, Henry was kidnapped, and they started teaching the kids how to drive.
Their 16th birthday party, while still having some of that patented Pines (mabel) Madness, was noticeably a little more subdued and scaled down than it probably would have been.
“Ford’s coming to Glass Shard right after Christmas, and since the kids don’t have to go back until middle of January, we were thinking-“
Stan laid down a run, a 4-5-6 of hearts off of Dipper’s 7-8-9. “Why don’t you and me take the kids to see Ford?”
Dipper’s brow furrowed. “You and me- what about Mabel and Henry?”
“I was thinking that maybe they’d like some time.” Stan raised an eyebrow. “Alone Dipper.”
Dipper raised his hands defensively. “Hey! I didn’t show up for their honeymoon or anything.”
“Yeah cookie for you. And when was the last time they had more than two days alone? Uninterrupted? By the kids or you?”
“Uh.” Dipper thought about it. Then he blushed. “Uh.” He drew a card.
“Exactly.” Stan laid down a book of aces, and discarded his last card, going out. “I’ll call Ford, you tell the kids.”
“What about Mabel and Henry?”
Stan snorted. “They said yes before I could finish.”
——————————————-
The long way this story begins is in 1866, when a callow and cruel young man with a trunk of grey clothes and a bloody saber inside landed in the newish state of Oregon to start a new life.
What is this young man’s name? I could tell you, but quite frankly he was a hateful piece of shit, so I’d rather not.
Here’s what you need to know about him.
He was the bosom friend of Nathaniel Northwest- they had fought side by side in the same regiment, and when the young man needed somewhere to run fast, it was Nathaniel who promised to smooth the way in return for working for him- he was strong, right? And Nathaniel knew he wasn’t adverse to rousting out some trash.
He was handsome. He towered over almost everyone in town, arms and legs draped with muscle, beautiful blonde hair, all of his teeth, and a smile that never reached his blue eyes.
And no one ever told him no.
He was loved by girls who didn’t know better, and enjoyed by women who knew to keep him at arms’ length. He was offered many favors, and he took advantage of each and every one.
A few times those favors ended with squalling, squealing piglets, red and angry and helpless. And the young poacher would take them from the homes of his cast off swains, promising to deliver the babe to a cousin’s farm the next county over, to a man running a tavern who needed the help, to a childless spinster he had heard about...
He took them to a pit he had in the forest, where he tossed them in and then covered them in dirt until the squealing stopped.
Mayhap some one suspected. But he was handsome and the friend of the town founder.
And no one ever told him no.
A fan of taking things out of season was our young man. In his hut he scalped the fur from foxes with dugs still full of milk and bear cubs that hadn’t even had the time to accumulate fat to use. The corpses of deer laid out back, the meat rotting on the corpse while the young man only desired the antlers for his home. The little corn he bothered to plant withered on the stalk, choked by weeds in an un-hoed field.
It should go without saying of course that any pigs or cows or horses he found wandering, branded or not, soon became his cattle. For the Huntsman took what he pleased and did what he wanted. He ate and drank and killed and fucked
And no one ever told him no.
Until one day when he ran into the Corduroy girl in the woods.
The men at the tavern told him to be wary of Etta Corduroy; she had a way of riling up their wives and giving them ideas. Nathaniel Northwest told him to be wary of Etta Corduroy; she had been talking with his loggers, giving them ideas. And his current swain told him to be wary of Etta Corduroy; for she spent far too much time alone in the woods.
(they called her a witch. and since this was gravity falls, they were right.)
But still when the young man saw her gathering mushrooms near his hut, he went to her. But still his hand strayed to her breasts when she rebuffed him. But still he grabbed her throat when she tried to scratch him, tried to run away.
Because no one ever told him no.
Not if they knew what was good for them.
So it was to his great surprise that when Etta Corduroy managed to get a hand on his chest, and spat out some unknowable word, that the world itself told him no.
It felt like a horse kicked him in the chest. It felt like the blood in his veins suddenly turned into boiling steam. Every cut he had ever gotten on his skin suddenly opened up, every muscle in his body seized up going rock hard and rigid, and it was hard to breathe, it was hard to see, it was hard to do anything at all except to fall down on the ground and writhe in pain as Etta ran away.
She ran away and she left him there. She left him there, bleeding and screaming and sobbing, covered in blood and spit, piss and tears, raining down from his body to feed the earth below him, the pit that he had tossed so many bodies in before.
Perhaps in his final moments the cruel callow youth should have been scared. But what he was instead was incandescently angry, because these were his woods, his to do with what he wanted, his his HIS-
And no one, ever, ever, told him no.
It was as his breath was growing shallow, as a disconcerting amount of deer began to circle around him, that he noticed the bright yellow triangle floating above him.
“... what?”
“WHOOPSIE CHAMP! LOOKS LIKE THAT WITCH DID A NUMBER ON YOU!”
“that... that...that bitch.”
“PERSONALLY I THINK THERE’S BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH ORGANS THAN EXPLODE THEM BUT THAT’S NOT WHY I’M HERE.”
The Huntsman coughed up more blood. It launched up in the air before splattering all over his face.
“YEESH. GROSS. SO YEAH, CAN’T SAVE YOUR LIFE. BUT I CAN OFFER YOU SOMETHING EVEN BETTER!”
“What.... what would it cost me?”
“ONLY THE LOW LOW PRICE OF YOUR SOUL! BUT DON’T WORRY! AS LONG AS YOU D̀O ̡W͠H͝A͟T I̢ ͜ŚAY̢ , I’LL NEVER COME TO COLLECT!”
“What do you want?”
“I’VE GOT SOME BIG PLANS FOR THIS TOWN- NEVER YOU MIND WHAT- AND I COULD USE AN ENFORCER.”
“And-?”
“AND THESE WOODS WOULD BE YOURS BUCKO! YOURS TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO!”
No one ever told him no.
“Deal.”
--
Roadkill County, as it eventually became to be named, was always mostly forest. Even after a century and a half of logging, the forest remained, endured, survived.
But.
But there were always parts of the forest that were stripped bare.
There were parts of the forest where the Corduroys, noted by all and sundry to be the finest woodspeople in the state, refused to go.
There were parts of the forest where children would enter and never be seen again.
This is what Bill offered the Huntsman.
(for he was no longer the Callow Callous Youth, and he was certainly no longer Bruce Wilder)
The forest was the Huntsman’s to do with as he pleased, though he could only be corporeal during the light of the full moon-
(A CONVIENENT PLOT HOLE, I KNOW KID, BUT LOOK, YOU’RE DEAD, WORK WITH ME HERE)
But during that time he could hunt and do as he pleased. Meat could pass his lips, his arrows would hit true, and any person that crossed his path was his to toy and play with until they broke.
And to help him do his bidding....and to amuse him when he was bored and intangible, the Huntsman was gifted with the souls of the pit, tiny mewling creatures finally turned to some purpose-
(SO THESE ARE YOUR BASIC LEVEL GHOULS POWERED BY FORSAKEN CHILDREN; I ADJUSTED THE SETTINGS SO YOU CAN PLAY WITH WHAT THEY CAN DO. SERIOUSLY, GO NUTS.)
-for they were his hounds in the hunt, they could harrow and harm his prey and in turn he had something he could hunt on the nights when the full moon was absent.
There was only one hard rule, and that was he could never, ever leave the forest that surrounded Gravity Falls.
(”Why..?” His vision was fading but before whatever happened, he just... he just needed to know-
“YOU KNOW I DON’T NORMALLY ANSWER QUESTIONS FOR FREE,” the triangle said, twirling a cane that came out of nowhere. “BUT LETS JUST SAY THERE’S THINGS IN THIS FOREST THAT COULD INTERFERE WITH MY PLANS. AND I THINK YOU’LL DO SOME GOOD WORK HERE KID. JUST DO AS I SAY AND N̤̪̦̖̥͡ͅͅE͏͖̹̫̬V̬̼̼Ḛ̛̳͓R̯̥͕͖̬ ͉̝̼̟̮͢L͔̪E̝̳͔͟A̻̟͕̝̥̖͞V̶͈̗E̛̝.”
Well. It still seemed like he was coming out on top here.)
However, eventually the thrill of the chase paled, eventually rumors of his presence spread and both the human and non-human inhabitants of Gravity Falls learned to avoid the forest at the full moon.
He turned to playing with his Beasts, growing crueler and crueler the more his boredom grew.
Yet despite his ennui, there was one other thing that kept the Huntsman in the forest, deal or no deal. For this is what the callous young man had found out after he had died.
There was no heaven.
There was no hell.
There was just life, endless, endless, endless rounds of life.
(some would marvel at the endless chances, endless possibilities for beauty and love and good food and song but we have already established that the callous young man was not that kind of person)
However.
Within this cycle were also the times in between.
The times where potentially very very angry people would be waiting for you.
So he waited, and hunted, and feasted, and waited.
And one day Bill was gone, and the deal was off, and that should have been it for the Huntsman but instead of dissipating he only felt himself grow more powerful.
For the Huntsman had so long existed independent of Bill’s plans (indeed he never saw the triangle again), had established over a century of terror a reputation, that the knowledge of his story and the raw power of the Transcendence released some of the bonds on him and his Beasts. No longer were they bound by the light of the full moon. Though they still could not leave the forest, now his prey was limitless.
He had gotten perhaps a week or two of finally being able to live again when he was cornered by the Multibear.
“I always wanted to fell you,” the Huntsman said, his Beasts snapping and slavering at his heels.
The Multibear did not leap to his bait. “This is your warning Huntsman.”
“Warning?” The Huntsman lifted his arm, to show his newest acquisition, a coat of red caps, some still crusted with dried blood. “I am tireless. I am deathless. And you are my prey. What warning could you possibly give me?”
“I am warning you now; refrain from killing the sentient creatures of this forest, focus your sick attentions on the deer and rabbits.”
“Or else what?”
One of the Multibear’s heads smirked. “Surely, you are aware that a new demon arose in Bill’s place?”
The Huntsman rolled his eyes. “And what of it? He’s but a mere stripling. And he and his sister have never run into me, never heard of my story.”
“Have you considered that what Bill gave you, Alcor could take away?”
“That is just wishful thinking.”
The Multibear turned- turned! exposing his back!- away, with one head saying over his shoulder, “Look inside of yourself. Dwell. And you will find that it is the truth.”
The Huntsman paused. He stood still for a solid minute.
Then the blood drained from his face.
Okay.
Okay, he could handle this.
He just needed to wait until Alcor stopped living in Gravity Falls, moved out of that shack that the Mad Man built and the Con Man ran.
(the Con Man had once shot the cap off of his head as he had approached his shack. The Huntsman swore vengeance... he was just going to get to it. Eventually.)
The Huntsman waited. And waited. And waited.
For no one ever told him no.
Until one day one of his Beasts brought him news of a deal it had overheard.
A deal whereupon Alcor would be gone for two weeks, sworn by his power and blood to do so.
The Huntsman, who was still obviously a colossal piece of shit, had unfortunately learned patience. And cunning. And dark magic.
He had a plan to make the forest truly his. A plan to make Gravity Falls his.
And from there well.
With his power, and the power he hoped to take, who knew where a bright, callous and callow youth could go from here?
---
The medium way this story begins is on day three of the Super Awesome Second Honeymoon No Kid Vacation.
Days one and two were scrubbing the house top to bottom. It was boring but the kids and Stan and Dipper were going to be gone for two weeks. Two! Weeks!!! Mabel thought it best to get the boring stuff out of the way first, to best optimize their time for smoochin, shenanigans, and sparkle spaghetti night.
So Henry lifted Mabel up so she could clean the gutters, and he mopped the whole house. She scrubbed the tubs and he fixed the basement door. They trimmed some tree limbs, changed the oil in the cars, put the zipline up for the winter, and all the other little things that needed doing but got lost in the hustle of raising three teenagers and running a small business and brokering peace amongst the gnome clans.
(Mabel could have asked for Dipper to do any or all of this for a price. And while some of it was a reluctance to rely on your magic brother for everything, more of it was just plain forgetting in the day to day of life.)
But now the chores were done, and Mabel could spring her plan into action!
Step one!
“Heyyyyy Henry.... can you put this blindfold on please?”
Henry put down his newspaper-
(oof the things she loved most about him was his hands. They were almost comically oversized, even for a man as tall as him. Beautiful pianist fingers, a long, elegant palm, and between the two a truly astounding dexterity.)
-and asked, “How long will I have to have it on?”
Mabel thought about where step two was. “Uh, twenty five to thirty minutes while we walk?”
“Can we maybe put it on right before the surprise?”
Okay that was fair. And walking through the woods blindfolded was probably a bad idea? Yeah, it probably was.
“Okay!”
Step two!
She had Henry kneel down so that she could actually put the blindfold on. She shivered as he was for once shorter than her, shivered as her hands tied the thick scarf around his eyes and her hips bumped into his back. Shivered as she helped him back up and took his hand.
She could not wait for this.
Step three!
Initially she was going to use their regular tent but Mabel was worried that if she had Henry kneel down it would give the game away so she had prepped a small pavilion tent instead, with the flap already open.
“Are we almost ready?” Henry asked.
“Mmmm hmmm,” Mabel answered, quickly taking off her sweater and skirt. She had spent a whole month crocheting lingerie for this.
She was about to tell him to take off the blindfold, and then she paused.
She put back on her skirt, and instead took her husband into a gentle hug.
“You can take it off now.”
He took it off.
“Oh.”
“Oh?”
“This is just.... outside?”
Mabel grinned. “I’ve always wanted to.”
Her grin faltered. “If that’s... if that’s okay?
There was a pause. And then Henry lifted her up, making her squeak like every time he did that. He brought his mouth to hers. And that was all the answer she needed.
Step four!
What Mabel had dreamed about, from the moment her husband had become born again into someone new, someone not quite human, was this moment. She wanted him to pin her down with not only his arms (stronger, far stronger than they used to be) but with vines that sprang from the ground. She wanted to grab onto his antlers as she rode him into ecstasy. She wanted the earth to bloom around him, to trail her finger up and down his skin and see mushrooms bloom from her fingertips.
What happened instead was that they had some very pleasant but very normal sex, except it was on the ground and the ground was kind of hard.
She...
Well poop Mabel. Way to go and Mabel it up all over again.
They both were still sweaty and panty, but Mabel reached out to begin putting her clothes back on; this... didn’t go quite like she expected.
“Thank you honey. That was a lot of fun,” Mabel said, super casually and hopefully not betraying the turmoil roiling within her.
Henry smiled. “Of course.”
(he hoped that Mabel hadn’t noticed that the Woodsman had almost come out once or twice; it was being outside and he wanted to break free, to test his strength against hers, to grow new life in these woods and no-)
They finished getting dressed and stepped out of the tent and
Mabel froze.
“Mabel?”
Inwardly, Mabel began to curse at herself for not bringing her bat.
“Henry...” She looked around at the heavy fog around them both, sensed the deep knowledge that they were far from where she had led them, knew to her bone that the path home was concealed.
“I think I goofed.”

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Mary Ruth Keller
Mary Ruth Keller has 42 stories at Gossamer, plus her stories are at AO3. She's written a number of short standalone stories, but she's thought through the X-Files mythology and written about it probably as much as anybody ever has. So if you want to dive into the mythology and all its drama, you need to go read her mythology fics ASAP. (But read this long, interesting interview first!) Big thanks to Mary Ruth for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
Quite frankly, yes. The Kuxan Sum Cycle branches off the actual series following the Third Season episode Syzygy. I took the myth-arc as it stood at that time, post Nisei-731, and the agents in mid-Rift. Although I didn’t quite realize it when I started out, I was most interested in moving the myth-arc forward in a continuously unfurling narrative, one where Scully and Mulder became an effective investigative team who support each other as partners and friends again. After I started writing in my little corner of the X-F universe in 1996, there was a lot of stuff on the show that just happened, with no real storytelling logic to it I could fathom, but that seemed to be popular. I stopped writing in 2000 because I was frantically busy at my new job (which consumed far too many twelve-plus-hour workdays and weekends) and because my sister and I were trying to take care of my elderly, increasingly frail, Mother. So, I never expected, when I started writing in 2018 and posting again in 2019 (I reposted all my stories, in order, to AO3 and fanfiction.net, because Chermera would never have made sense without them) for readers to take an interest in myth-arc and character issues that the series writers had simply abandoned to go chase, well, anything else, especially if it made no coherent sense whatsoever. What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
The fandom was a lot of fun. There were many interesting, engaging discussions I took part in with other fans of the show, some of whom I am still in touch with.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
All of the above. I spent a lot of time discussing writing and characters with other writers on ATXC, except when I was actively working on my novels. Since I was doing basic research into microwave remote sensing of the Earth while working at the Naval Research Laboratory at the time – yes, I was one of those dreaded Department of Defense scientists the show had a love/hate relationship with – my writing happened at night and on weekends. Novels, especially the longer ones, take me about a year from first words on disk until release, which meant I didn’t have all the time to participate on-line as I would have otherwise. But, I enjoyed chatting with the fellow denizens of the Endies Board, and on the EMXC, Scullyfic, and Je Souhaite mailing lists. I’ve saved some of those posts and conversation threads on my older computers, where it’s fun re-reading them from time to time. What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
There were a lot of generous, funny, very intelligent fans involved with X-F back then (not that there aren’t now; there are, of course). I started writing because I wanted to get the myth-arc and the characters back on-track, the long-term story moving forward and the agents again being the smart investigators I loved hanging out with on Friday nights. But, outside of having read a lot of myth, literature, fiction, and non-fiction, I didn’t know enough about the mechanics of writing fiction. Several authors were willing to help out, some explicitly through E-mail conversations, and some from general comments about crafting stories that were posted to ATXC. I had a real problem with how I initially handled dialog, which I had some E-mail guidance on, that was very much appreciated. I also had two quite diligent beta readers, one an on-line fan, and one a real-life friend, both male, who helped me with the direction of the Scully-Mulder half of Anath. I was, at the time, utterly exasperated with how the pair of them had become such complete morons on the series, both totally incapable of investigating anything successfully, which was affecting my writing the characters in that story.   What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show? Ooh, boy. I’d like to say I started watching with the show with the Pilot, but I didn’t, quite. Tom Shales was the Washington Post TV critic at the time the Pilot aired – yes, not only was I a government scientist, I was living in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1992. He was intrigued by the characters and premise and found Duchovny and Anderson engaging while playing their roles. At the time, I was wrapped up trying to work on a PhD while still employed at NRL, so I tucked the review away, waiting until I had Friday nights free to check it out. I’m a great lover of science fiction, so I thought to give the show a try, eventually. [Lilydale note: I found a couple things Tom Shales wrote about The X-Files premiere in 1993: Fall 1993 TV preview article and a “Pilot” episode review.]
The first episode I sat down to watch was the First Season Darkness Falls, where Mulder and Scully get trapped at the logging camp with the Earth Firster, Doug Spinney, the logging executive, Steve Humphries, the Forest Ranger, Larry Moore, and the gooey green bugs. I was amazed by that story. It was as perfect a little piece of science fiction as I have seen on TV (except for one bit toward the end), with an environmental moral to it as well, where all the characters make good and bad choices, and they all suffer or succeed because of them.
What hooked me, really hooked me, were the first/second acts, specifically, Dana Scully’s actions, once they find the desiccated logger in the tree. The investigation is handled logically, in that it’s not the big male agent who goes shinnying up the trunk to look at the evidence while everyone else stands around watching and wailing, “Whatever shall we do!” No, it’s little Dana Scully who takes the ride to the upper branches. This made oodles of sense, in that she was this tiny woman whom two men could lever up that far with a rope, a hand winch, and pulleys. When she gets there, after grimacing (who wouldn’t, considering what she saw), she starts investigating. She does an on-the-spot post-mortem exam, while Mulder makes an ooky male-body-parts joke, but everyone takes her results seriously. I was thrilled. Here was a female character I could really relate to, someone who could hold her own in a difficult situation, unlike most of those on the tube, then or now.
I made a point, over the following summer, of watching as many re-runs as I could, catching up on the episodes and characters. The stories ran to science fiction and horror, which are my preference. Further, although there was an emphasis on the paranormal, several of the first season episodes were written so both Mulder’s wanting-to-believe-but-needing-proof intuitive, emotional approach and Scully’s logical, scientific, justice-oriented viewpoint each got the narrative coherently from initial crime to identifying and apprehending a suspect. It was some spectacular, complex writing, and I was hooked, hopelessly hooked. I discuss this some on my old author web-page, which still exists, courtesy of the Wayback machine), so I won’t belabor it. What got you involved with X-Files fan-fic? The shenanigans within the Third Season, quite honestly. The myth-arc wasn’t moving forward, as it had during the Second Season, which I really couldn’t understand. Carter had given us this bang-up start in the ABC Trilogy with all these new fictional possibilities to explore, but instead, bupkis. The MOTW’s were retreads with no depth or moral/ethical weight to them, except for Darin’s stories. The intelligent agents I had enjoyed spending time with while they pursued their oddball investigations were evaporating before my eyes. Mulder had always been this deeply intuitive character who cared about others and knew he could get it wrong, so needed Scully’s logic in their investigations, even if he didn’t always want to hear her observations and questions. But that character was being replaced by a cookie-cutter misunderstood anti-hero, who wasn’t thinking, just running off to chase butterflies, who was always right because he was The Guy. Scully, as an investigator, the little agent who could, was simply being sidelined. Sure, she’d argue with Mulder, but the writers had stopped giving her and her logical viewpoint a real role in their cases, Darin excepted, again. As the series went on, the Agent and Doctor Dana Scully I respected was replaced with this snappish little female whose only notable skill was running in high heels, who spent her time standing around with her arms crossed, and made pruney faces at Mulder if she were required to do any actual investigating. I hated that character, but, apparently, the all-male writing staff just loved her.
I knew about the on-line fandom, so I thought to check out if anybody else had noticed these “improvements.” First, I spent time at ATXF, discussing the changes with the series, that disturbed a lot of folks, not just me. Eventually, I tripped onto ATXC. There were writers there who understood the two characters, quite well, but weren’t that interested in the other problems with the show that bothered me deeply.
Like many fan-fiction writers, I decided to try to bring in, or in my case, bring back, what I was missing in what was being aired. Sins of the Fathers was the result. As I mentioned above, it was a far from perfect story, but I learned much putting it together, and it got a lot of positive feedback. So I kept writing and trying to improve what I wrote. Folks appreciated it, then and now, surprisingly, which was endless encouragement to keep going. What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom? With work and my Mom, as I mentioned above, I dropped out for a few years. My new job is still microwave remote sensing of the Earth, at a University-affiliated laboratory, not working directly for the government, but the NASA/NSF-type funding for the research I like to do is much harder to come by, so it takes up a lot more of my time to keep funded and working. Adding to that, I haven’t found places like ATXC in the 90’s or the Endies Board, but I suppose lightning only strikes once. Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
Not really, no. I’ve enjoyed other TV series, but, I never felt those shows were just throwing away essential parts of themselves as X-F did, or, if they went bad, I simply stopped watching them. A fandom is, or can be, a huge time commitment, which, as I’ve noted, I don’t have that much of. I discuss this quite extensively in my author’s notes at the end of Chermera, so I won’t repeat myself. [Lilydale note: the long author notes are at the end of the story’s last chapter, not in the AO3 notes section.] Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
As a child, I loved reading myths and legends from many different cultures. So many amazing stories, so much that touches on truth. Greek myth, Norse legends, Islamic tales, Celtic fables, all of them. It goes without saying that discovering Tolkien’s fully-realized Middle Earth in my early teens was like falling into an river of endless delights.
In literature, perhaps the character I enjoy most is Sherlock Holmes. On television/in movies, I’d have to say: Beverly Crusher, (early) Dana Scully, Susan Ivanova of Babylon 5, Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan and (early) Aeryn Sun on Farscape, Samantha Carter on Stargate SG-1, Hermione Granger, and most recently, Lagertha on Vikings. Dunno, there might be a pattern there. Possibly. Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
Yes, absolutely. I started rewatching the series when it ran on BBC America, enjoying the first two seasons again. I’d actually never stopped thinking about Mulder and Scully; I just lost the time to write about them, until two years ago, when I managed to land some long-term funding so I wasn’t staying up nights writing proposals every few months. I’d have a thought about how to advance the story that became Chermera, so I’d make a mental note and play with it in my head. I also have two more novels and a satyr play left to go in the sequence of stories I want to write, so I’m turning over plot-lines and potential arcs in my head all the time. Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom? I do read X-F fan-fic. Since the series has wandered so far away from what engaged me, and most fan-fic keeps up with that, I don’t read very much. As far as other fandoms, one was enough. Do you have any favorite X-Files fan-fic stories or authors?
Reaching back into the dark ages, I’d say Pellinor and Nascent. They may both be available on Gossamer. [Lilydale note: Fortunately, they are!] What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise? Zurvan is the favorite of my older stories. It, like Twelfth Night (Denha on AO3 to avoid confusion with another X-F story named Twelfth Night), builds on the past stories in their trilogies and brings the overall arc to new places. It’s fun to uncover surprises when writing and develop challenges to address in the future, which both of those stories did. Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I’d certainly like to. I had planned to write three trilogies with their satyr plays, each of them focusing on an aspect of the mythical Triple Goddess: Maiden, Matron, and Crone, in the X-F universe. Only, being me, I turned it around. Sandra Ann Miller (Samantha) is the Maiden, but I’ve just started telling that part of the arc with the transitional Anath and the first trilogy story Chermera. I’m approaching this trilogy as a coherent tale spread across the three novels, which is different from the other two. The Caroline Lowenberg Trilogy didn’t really get organized until Twelfth Night. It was only the third story I’d ever written, so perhaps I can be excused. The Dana Scully Trilogy was all interconnected, but that was more of an organic, rather than a pre-planned and deliberate, effort. I didn’t really grasp the full arc of what I was creating there until I was writing Chermera and looked back over the threads running from Rustic Suite through Anath. The next story in the Sandra Ann Miller Trilogy involves the exposure of the Japanese arm of the Consortium, but, I need to read up on Japanese history, myths and legends, and world view before I write it. After finishing and posting Chermera, that’s what I’ve been doing. The conflict between Amaterasu, the Sun goddess, and her ne’er-do-well brother Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the god of, among other things, storms, marriage, and love, as told in the Kojiki and the Nihongi (both written down in their near-final forms at the same time as we in the West were just recording the first skeletal versions of the Arthurian Legends), will definitely get worked into the Sandra Ann Miller Trilogy. I’m starting to put the arcs and plot-lines together, but, I’m not ready to begin writing yet. Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work? As I’ve discussed, I do. Part of why I take my time is because Mulder and Scully are owed real, challenging cases to solve - the two intelligent agents with their own approaches, strengths, and weaknesses, remember. Partly, because I have original fiction ideas I’d like to pursue. Trying to do the best I possibly can in the sheltered world of X-F where I attempt to create stories with universal themes, well-realized settings, coherent plot-lines, and original characters who resonate with my readers is practice for the original fiction. I’ll never write the Great American Novel (whatever that is), but I’d like to write stories that are as good as I can make them and fun for my readers, so I keep plugging. Where do you get ideas for stories? Reading and thinking, mostly. I try to look for ideas that haven’t been done to death, or different approaches to old themes. I have four original novels I scribble mental notes on. After I bring this myth-arc I’ve been working on to its (to me) logical resolution, I hope I’ll be able enough of a writer to get started on them. What's the story behind your pen name? Actually, it’s my real name. At the time I started writing, I didn’t think to do anything else. On ATXC and Gossamer, I wrote several of the shorts that are separate from the Kuxan Sum Cycle under the pen name Lise Meitner. She was a Twentieth Century theoretical physicist who explained nuclear fission, then was cut out of a Nobel prize because the judges of her day thought Marie Curie and Irene Joliot-Curie were “enough” women physicists working in radioactivity to be so honored. [Lilydale note: here’s her Wikipedia page. Among many other fascinating things talked about there, she was nominated for the Nobel Prize 48 times in two different categories and had the 109th chemical element, meitnerium, named after her. She also escaped Nazi Germany in a plot involving trains, boats, planes, and an emergency diamond ring. You really ought to read about her.] Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
I’d shared the first five of my novels with my family back in 1996. They liked them, my sister especially. I’m not sure they knew what to make of them. I haven’t shown them to my in-laws, but, I think my sister-in-law found them on her own. We haven’t discussed them, as they aren’t her usual preference, which is Romance. One distant blood relation was thrilled to discover them on-line and wrote me about them. My sister, though, is my (self-admitted) biggest fan. When we were kids, she and I shared a bedroom, where I’d make up stories to tell her at night so she could fall asleep. She and I correspond regularly by E-mail (she’s in Florida and I’m in Maryland). Back while I was working my way through Chermera, she asked out of the blue if I was ever going to write any more. She was thrilled to hear I had been but she doesn’t have regular Internet access other than at her job. I made printed, bound copies of all my stories to mail to her last Christmas. She loves them, bless her. Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
I’ve sent Chermera to Gossamer, but, it hasn’t been updated since July 2018. All the rest of the stories are there.
At AO3, my stories are under: https://archiveofourown.org/users/mrkeller. The Kuxan Sum Cycle is linked together at: https://archiveofourown.org/series/1555492.
I’ve published the Lise Meitner stories under my own name there: Faustus Mulder; Late Night Thoughts on Evolution, Hard Times, and Lost Pets; You Just Don’t Understand; and Lux Perpetua. Since I could separate out the trilogies into their own cycle, it just made sense.
At fan-fiction.net, they’re under: https://www.fanfiction.net/~maryruthkeller
Again, the Lise Meitner stories are under my own name. Since fanfiction.net doesn’t have a linked series option like AO3, I’ve added a header to all eleven of the stories in the Kuxan Sum Cycle so far explaining the order. The novels all are tagged with thumbnail versions of the covers I made for them. Also, the literary quotes I started each chapter and begin and end each story with, are kept in the AO3 versions, but are removed at fanfiction.net to avoid potential copyright issues. Shakespeare, Christine de Pisan, the Popol Vuh, the Ugaritic myths around Anath, and others are all long out of, or never were in, copyright, of course, but, just to be on the safe side, I’m following fanfiction.net’s rules.
If folks care to write, I’m still at my old eclipse address: [email protected]. Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
Enjoy it, use it as an opportunity to make connections and expand your horizons as a storyteller. Fan-fiction was much more of a home-grown effort back in the 90’s than it is now, when there are how-to books, of all things. But, don’t get so wrapped up one forgets about real life. That’s where all the best stories are.

TypeError: Router.use() requires middleware function but got a Object
There have been some middleware changes on the new version of express and I have made some changes in my code around some of the other posts on this issue but I can't get anything to stick.
We had it working before hand but I can't remember what the change was.

How To Teach Legal Spy Apps
It is easy for users of android phones to install and run malicious applications without the user's understanding. It happens with users who download giveaways or use random networks without their understanding. The majority of the time, users believe that they are downloading genuine apps or media files. They install the programs in their phones just to learn that they have actually been infected with spyware. If you want to know how to detect spy apps, then read this short article.
MSP (Mobile Solutions Provider) is a well-known name in the spyware market. It was responsible for the advancement of Spybot, the most popular malware detector. Now, it is also responsible for dispersing the My Spyware Relief program. This rogue software application is designed to collect information from your smart phones and send it to remote servers.
The most common kinds of spyware are adware, which track your online activities; tracking cookies, which covertly collect information from your computer; and essential loggers, which tape all keyboard activity. Your phone will show unusual habits when you utilize these spyware programs. Some will cause your phone to crash; some will require you to purchase premium software from their website; some might appear as unknown devices in your network or directory.
